    iLac Empty iLac

Post by Caelestis Icarus Zephyr 19th April 2021, 12:48 am

The iLac was something Caelestis was on the fence about, the main reason being his lack of people to even use it to communicate with. However, the lure of information was a strong call, and in the end he’d given in to his impulses and come to Neutral Ground to get his free iLac just like everybody else no doubt was. There would doubtless be a long lineup to obtain the device, so he’d decided to stop and grab a frozen lemonade at a nearby cafe before he made his way to the factory for the device. Might as well have something to drink while he was waiting in line, since it was a relatively hot day.

Being the kind of person who was completely and utterly carefree in most circumstances, Cael ended up wandering a little on his way to the factory. Sipping at his drink, he curiously looked at all kinds of people, shops, and just about everything on his way to his destination. It didn’t take him long to come to the summary that this city was completely industrial, missing the parks and trees and ports that abounded in most of the other cities he’d been to. Not that that was a bad thing, either.

While he absolutely preferred the more natural settings of forests and fields, or the breathtaking beauty of old ruins, he could appreciate this kind of place too. There were people everywhere, machines and inventions that were far from commonplace everywhere else, and all kinds of things you didn’t see in the smaller towns that often hosted Fiore’s wizard guilds. All in all, this place wasn’t bad. In fact, it was almost nice, though he’d prefer being in a quiet library or maybe a nice open field.

His wandering went on for a while, no real destination in mind until he saw the large building that could only be the factory he was meant to be going to looming a few blocks away from his current position. He sighed, having somewhat enjoyed his wandering, and reluctantly began making his way over to his true destination. The vicinity of the factory was full of people, and as he’d suspected the line held a number of people ahead of him, all hoping for the goodies promised in the form of free iLacs. Not that he could blame them, free stuff was free stuff. Even if it wasn’t something you’d normally use, free stuff was almost always worth taking in case you’d find a use for it later.

It took what seemed like hours to get to the front of the line, though in reality it probably only took about 10 minutes. It only felt longer due to the obnoxious people in front of him, some lady and her bratty kid demanding that they skip to the front of the line so he could get his free iLac already. God, Cael hated people like those. People could be so damn entitled for no real reason, sometimes.

Eventually, it was finally his turn, and he was soon holding his brand new iLac in his hands, debating whether or not he wanted to set it up right now. Surely that could wait, right? He had a train to catch onto the next city now that he’d gotten the free device, being in a city without magic made him undoubtedly uneasy. He didn’t like the fact that he couldn’t defend himself if he were attacked. (It wasn’t like he was strong enough to really fend off any physical attackers, if they were dumb enough to target him in neutral grounds.)
