The Neko Curse Empty The Neko Curse

Post by Admin 27th March 2021, 4:30 pm

    Job Title: The Neko Curse
    Rank: B
    Category: Normal
    Job Location: Anywhere
    Solo Word Count: 2,500
    Group Word Count: 5,000
    Additional Requirements: N/A
Job Description: While out with your friend(s), an experimental mage spikes out one of the foods or drinks with their new potion; a concoction that turns the afflicted party into a Neko! On the surface, this might seem harmless and actually pretty fun, but the characteristics of a Neko make the afflicted powerless, easily distracted, and frightened by things that are normally not very scary! All in all, the curse is extremely annoying and will likely interfere with daily life to the point of dysfunction. The non-afflicted party member's goal is to track down the mage responsible for the Neko Curse and find a way to undo it, all while making sure the afflicted person doesn't get hurt. Consider bringing items that might help manage Neko behavior, such as a spray bottle, a collar and leash, etc.

How the curse is broken is up to the players. For example, it could be done by, a) finding a way to get the mage give you the antidote or b) killing them because, by all fictional rules, killing the person responsible for a curse should nullify it, right?

The reward is either given by the mage upon relinquishing the antidote as a bribe for you to leave them alone forever OR as the spoils collected after you destroy their ass in combat.
Enemies: All except the mage are optional.

    • Butterflies
These fluttery insects are sure to distract a Neko from the task at hand, effectively making them forget what they were supposed to be doing because they just can’t fight the urge to swat at them. The butterflies can be warded off by killing them with the weakest spell you have or just shooing them away. The choice is yours.
      Enemy Rank: Weak

    • Empty Boxes
As you might know, boxes are very attractive to cats for playing or sleeping in. If a cursed Neko comes into contact with a box, they might be tempted to get inside one or, again, be distracted by how big the inside of these cardboard castles seem to be. How the encounter goes is up to you, but whatever you decide, these boxes will definitely slow down your mission. Especially if the afflicted party member decides to take a nap...
      Enemy Rank: Normal

    • Dogs
Uh-oh, a cat’s worst enemy. If you happen to come across a dog, the afflicted Neko might become frightened and try to run away because of the loud barking. The only way to get past the dog is to scare it off. Dogs are tough, so come up with the best scare tactic, but DO NOT kill them. That’s just cruel.
      Enemy Rank: Strong

    • The Experimental Mage
Ah, that sneaky bastard. They’re the one that caused this whole mess and they must be stopped, ASAP. If you decide to go with a more peaceful option, how the situation plays out is up to you, but be sure to keep in mind that this mage is incredibly stubborn and arrogant, and therefore not easily convinced to hand over an antidote or otherwise help undo the curse. If you decide to go with the more deadly option, proceed with caution! As was previously mentioned, they are very sneaky and will not hesitate to break the rules and play unfairly. Keep your guard up and look out for whatever they might throw at you, literally. This mage will resort to throwing objects at you and even some potions they have on hand. These three potions last for a single post each and include: one that can throw off your center of gravity, another that can temporarily take out your depth perception, and a final potion that turns your fingers into gummy worms (nobody is really sure why they made that, but it’s there.) They will also try to distract the Neko in the party with catnip so they can knock them out and keep them for experimentation. Without their cheap tricks, they are fairly easy to beat and can be taken down with three hits of C-rank damage.
      Enemy Rank: Boss

    Reward: 25,000 jewel.
