A swirling wind flew through the skies, two members of Meliora Vitae sitting at a camp of Bellum soldiers, waiting on the war horns to cry. The soldiers were ready to intercept a Pergrandian force moving in, hiring out the conservationist guild members as mercenaries. It was a life that the elder Blade was used to. His combatative services were so well documented that it was not a surprise to him. Lethe as a companion surprised him, admittedly. She was certainly not lacking in strength, but her insistence to tag along with the white haired warrior was a shock. Poppi had been sent out to scout for other forces, as well as to search for the motivations behind the wars. Above all else, Mathis wished to now if he was on the morally just side. He had made that mistake once before, and was hesitant to do so again.
He looked at Lethe, who seemed surprisingly content with the battles ahead. Perhaps her apparent feelings for him would have helped? Mathis was admittedly curious. He prepared to ask her when gunfire began raining in from the skies, knocking down a few of the nearby soldiers. Mathis quickly grabbed Monado and ran between the direction of the bullets and Lethe, the black blade shifting into a large tower shield, protecting the two members of Meliora Vitae.
"Prepare yourself for combat, Lethe! I can sense reinforcements coming from the south. Would you mind handling them? I can take care of the enemies from the mountaintops!" He waited for a response before beginning to rush forwards, the gunmen in the mountains being protected by another group of soldiers having slid down and begun firing their way through the unprepared Bellum forces.
