"I think you're misunderstanding. You had a great IDEA, though it seems to have been poorly executed."
"Poorly executed?! Well I didn't exactly see you usin those wings of yours to help out?" The voices echoed across the mountain path as two individuals made their way through the the jagged peaks. The blazen-haired maiden known as Nymara sauntered with a slouched stance, her brilliant white coat covered in tracks of dirt and mud, a few bruises lining her waist and back. Beside her strode the ever honourable exceed Lucky, who was garbed in small cat-sized armour. He lifted his small faceplate to look up at his companion, his whiskers and orange fur popping out of the opening. "And as I stated earlier, my magic reserves were all but sapped from that last encounter, and by the looks of it so are yours." Lucky noted, tilting his head slightly to look at the scrapes across Nymara's body. Instinctively she sighed. "So now we gotta wander between these big rocks till we find some way out?" the dragonslayer asked. "We are most fortunate to even still be alive, lady Nymara. May I remind you how close those ancient guardians were to ending you? The fact we managed to complete the job in first place, let alone escape the ruins, is blessing enoungh." The cat spoke with a stoic tone, prompting Nym to roll her shoulder in discomfort as his words did little to solve their current troubles. "It's just a shame we had to destroy the whole temple. Though the professor only asked for the relic, so we should be alright." At this statement Nymara simply rolled her eyes. "Well they didn't exactly give me much of a choice! How many magic snake statues have you fought in the past, hmm?"
"You should remember the lessons of Lady Akemi, as she would have likely been far harsher than my words had she seen that battle." He hissed, though at the mention of her mentor Nymara couldn't help but agree with him. She was lucky this was a solo job that didn't require the Twilight Dragon's oversite, otherwise Nymara would have likely been in for a painful scolding for her destructive nature.

After what felt like an eternity of walking Nymara's enhanced slayer senses began to pick up on something. It smelled like a town! When she made this realization her dreary face lit up and she looked down at Lucky. "Oi! I think we finally found some sort of civilization up ahead. Hopefully they can give us some food!" She stated with a fanged smile and eagerly picking up her pace. "Or better yet some directions. I still have no idea where we ended up after that rockslide..." The exceed mumbled as hopped onto Nym's shoulder. Soon enough it was revealed that Nymara's senses hadn't failed her, and the duo came to a rather quaint looking town nestled high in the mountains. Sure enough they could see smokestacks from the buildings, and Nym's stomach almost instantly responded with a low growl. "Hope they got a tavern."

It was certainly a place neither Nymara nor Lucky had been to before, but it was evident that it supported a stable population from its size. As the two made their way closer to the outskirts of the town they were greeted only by a few stares or completely ignored by the inhabitants. Lucky cautiously watched their surroundings while Nym continued to follow her nose. Soon enough it led her straight into the door of a small inn. It was rather quiet, as few souls tread these grounds during the midday hours. It didn't matter to much to the wizard though, as she was more focused on the scent of food. "Now THIS is the reward we deserve!" She proclaimed with a wide smile as she seated herself near the innkeeper. "Barmie! Two ales for me and a cup of milk for the kitten!" She called out to the distracted worker. Lucky would descend from the girl's shoulder and sit upon the stool next to her. The innkeeper arched an eyebrow at the sight of an armoured cat in his hall but didn't think about it too long. "Oh and something with meat! I can smell your kitchen!" She exclaimed rather excitedly. The innkeeper's face looked rather unimpressed with her personality as he crossed his arms and looked at the two of them. "I- I uhh deeply apologize for my friend's rather crude method of requesting your service, we've just had a long day." Lucky chimed in, seeing the expression of the innkeeper and attempting to intervene. With a deep sigh the man finally spoke. "Aight then, that'll be 13 Jewel" He stated rather dryly. Nym reached deep into her coat pockets and fiddled for a painfully long minute as Lucky stared at her before she finally pulled out a crumpled wad of cash. "Uhhh, right then. This much?" She asked. Without responding the innkeeper took it from her hand and began to work on their request. Sliding down two mugs straight to the redhead before placing some milk for Lucky. "We can take a break, but I strongly advise we don't dawdle too long. We gotta get back to the guild with this 'special' item as quickly as possible." The exceed said in a quieter tone as the innkeeper vanished behind a wall and Nymara started to down her first mug. "Mhm. Mhm. I understand *hic* what you're saying completely. Hey, you think this place has any gambling??"

The midday sun was beating on two men tied to a rope. Their ragged clothing did nothing to cover the cuts that were evidently acquired recently as it still drips. In front of them was a man who pulled on the rope, leading the weakly men to a village just over yonder of the man's view. One of them pleaded to be let go, with promises of not doing "it" again. Further making the excuse that had they known what the building was and what was in it, they wouldn't have tried. The man angrily pulled on the rope, tugging on them as if to walk faster, yet the man himself bore no emotion. At least, none that people can see.

30 minutes passed and the trio arrived in a tavern within the mountain village. The people within looked up to see who it was, and were unalarmed upon seeing who it was. The man by the bar, quickly ran over to take the rope from him while the man took off his hood, revealing his bearded face and white hair. "Take these two to the sheriff, I caught them looting the guild hall. The bodies of their associates are still there too." the man said, coldly, his fury being contained. "You got it Leo." the bartender replied as he dragged them off.  All the while they  pleaded to the bartender the same excuses they had as Leo was dragging them earlier.

Leo then took a quick scan of the area, looking for a place to sit down. As he scanned, he caught a glimpse of Nymara and Lucky. Though not being personally acquainted, Leo knows of them by being observant in the guild hall, and he doesn't really know anything about them outside their names, appearance and being members of Fairy Tail.

Leo spotted a chair by the side of the bar and proceeded to take seat there. The barmaid immediately placed on his table a slice of stake with assorted greens and vegetables on the side along with a cup of wine that she had poured for him and left the bottle afterwards. After politely thanking the barmaid, he subtly pulled out an enormous bag of jewels and handed it to the barmaid. "Make sure those two get everything they want here." he whispered to her, to which she was rightly confused about. "Do you know them?" she asked. With a sigh and a smile, Leo replied "Let's just say they're family. Don't let them know it's from me." The girl still didn't know what it meant, but Leo was a regular in the tavern and she wanted no trouble so she simply followed.

As he was eating, Leo was asked a question by one of the patrons, "So what were they looting in the old building?" After he had chewed and swallowed his delicious food, Leo calmly replied. "They were looting it for relics, raw materials and weapons. Infinity Hydra had an impressive arsenal, among them are these blueprints for a fire sword I took from their leader." he then pulled out a large scroll, containing the methods and techniques to craft a sword that held intense flames. The person who asked nodded his head as he was rightly impressed and said "thank you for protecting the village and safeguarding the hall from looters. We still don't have the men or the training to properly guard it ourselves." to which Leo simply raised his cup towards him and drank its contents with one gulp.

Perhaps the drinks had been starting to get to the young firebrand, that or she was too distracted by the promise of food to take notice of the large man who had just entered the tavern. Lucky was the first to glance over, seeing two rather distressed figures being dragged along by a third via some rope. The armored cat knew better than to stick his nose where it didn't belong, so he wasn't about to voice any concerns. However what the large hooded figure said next the exceed did take interest in. He mentioned a sheriff, to which Lucky was surprised to notice that he was speaking to the same bartender serving both him and Nymara! "Well he certainly has many talents..." Lucky couldn't help but mutter to himself as the two men conversed. From what he had gathered the bearded man had just dealt with a group of looters. From a guildhall? How strange, Lucky was unaware of any guilds nearby, though he didn't rule out the possibility of there being many he had yet to hear of as well. Both him and Nymara were rather new to this guild business. Of course when the white haired man now known to Lucky as "Leo" took a moment to look around, the cat quickly averted his gaze and pretended to not look.

"I swear you find the best stuff so far from civilization!" Nymara celebrated, clearly enjoying the drinks. Lucky readjusted himself on the stool and looked over to the redhead. "Hmmm, well try not to go too overboard, we still have no rightful idea where we are." He attempted to advise the girl, though he knew as well as anyone his counsel was likely to ignored. "And from what I've heard it seems some unsavory types like to loot around here, we best be careful with our artifact." He continued to warn, still carefully tying to listen in on the man's conversation.

It wouldn't be too long either until Nymara's own senses picked up a very exciting combination of words. Instantly putting her mug down Nym's bright red eyes turned to face Leo with a look of anticipation. "Y- You say Fire Sword? Hoooo! What kind we talkin about?" She would rudely insert herself into Leo's conversation, much to Lucky's dismay. Something that was fairly evident by the cat's expression. Of course common courtesy seemed to be lost on Nym, as she was far too influenced by the beer and her own lust for excitement that she couldn't exactly unhear what Leo had said. Nymara had also heard random bits from his conversation with the bartender, though her interest wasn't hooked until he had mentioned the flame weapon. Given the nature of Nymara's magic, it was only natural that she'd be curious.

Sighing, Lucky would turn to face Leo as well and bow his head respectfully. "I'm sorry sir, my eager friend here doesn't seem to grasp what a private conversation is." He responded, a statement that was just as much an insult to Nym's intelligence as it was an apology to the bearded man. Something Nymara picked up on right away, turning to scowl at the exceed for a moment before looking back to Leo with the same eagerness. "Ho friend! My name is Nymara, what's yours?" She asked rather cheerfully. "The small grouchy one is Lucky. My ever supportive companion." She continued, the hints of sarcasm not lost on Lucky, which only prompted an eyeroll from the smaller feline.

Perhaps deep down, Leo had known talking as quietly as they can would have been impossible given that Nymara was a dragon slayer. Although he doesn't know what kind, in his experience, only slayers have the bond between them and exceeds. However, he also forgot how brash and... lively they could be. Honestly he couldn't believe he was surprised himself given most of whom he had met in his life shared similar qualities.

On his seat, head down and quiet, he would be approached by the said pair. As luck would have it, the slayer was interested in the blueprints he had placed upon the table. Under his hood, the old man would chuckle at how fate would play its hand in making two mages of Fairy Tail meet. "No matter, lad." he said softly from under his cloaked visage but not soon after, he would raise his head slowly to meet them eye-to-eye as one must do in respect to other people. Something he thought he could share with a member of his family. "My name is Leo. It's nice to meet you both." he continued, in the same tone he had used earlier, with his lips slightly curling up for a small smile at the end of his sentence.

Leo would then reach out for the furled scroll on the table, to untie it and reveal its contents. A picture of finished two-handed sword could be seen on the corner, fashioning bright hues of red, black and gold. In the middle of the large scroll, was a blue paper that had been drawn on with white lines, detailing every single part of the weapon in the picture. At its side, a list of materials required to make the weapon. "The mages then called it Flameheart. Mostly because scales, and blood of a fire dragon were used to make this. Dragons have been commonplace before, and these weapons helped defend oneself from them." Leo said, leaning forward to point out the different materials of the weapon. "Scales and blood to resist and hold fire. The scales would also pad Steel-alloyed dragon claws that helps cut through even diamonds as well as giving its draconic look." He then looked down as he gazed upon the prints. It truly was a marvelous weapon, that would have been dangerous in the wrong hands. Dragons may not have been commonplace in this day and age as he has yet to see one organically and the ones that accompanied Elysium certainly did not count, there are certainly other ways to make this weapon, or even a better version of it.

"I was about to put this in my personal archive. Weapons such as these are dangerous in the wrong hands." he said, finally airing out the thoughts of concern he had.

Well, at least the mysterious man didn't seem put off by Nymara's rude tendancies. The last thing the exceed wanted to do was to start making enemies with strangers while he and his companion were still technically lost. Nymara had a habit of making that somewhat difficult in most circumstances, as her lively and rather explosive personality proved to be too much for some people's liking. It was honestly a small miracle to meet anyone who could put up with her antics for more than a few minutes, so the exceed hoped Leo would end up being a different case. Bowing his head respectfully when Leo introduced himself, the exceed turned his attention back to his energetic companion as she seemed to get more excited about the weapon the man had a blueprint for. "For what reason do you have such an interest in a blade? You've never cared for using weapons in the past." Lucky would say truthfully. In the time that Lucky had known Nymara she hadn't ever shown any real interest in using any weapon other than her fists. Granted when you used magic, a weapon was rarely needed to compensate. Though the exceed sensed this case may be a bit different. "Well did you not hear him??? He said a fire sword! That sounds so cool!" Nymara beamed back to her companion with genuine enthusiasm. Ironically that was what worried him, the fact that the firebrand seemed to have some cosmic force guiding her towards more and more destructive things. Perhaps it was just her luck, and judging by the expression on Nymara's face the exceed could tell she was feeling lucky.

The man now known to the duo as Leo would reach for the scroll on the table once more and to Nymara's excitement it seemed he had little issue showing off the plans to the two of them. As the old scroll opened up on the table the dragonslayer's eyes widened slightly as she took in its beautiful design. She had never seen anything like it, and neither had the exceed. "Woooohaa! She's amazing!" Nymara would claim with an exuberant tone. For one who considered himself a knight, he had been around his fair share of weaponry in the past, though no sword in his memory could compete with what he was currently looking at. Part of the cat was happy it was just a blueprint at the moment, fearing what Nymara could do with such a weapon if she were allowed to test it. "I must say, my companion is correct." Lucky started, still staring at the paper with Nymara. "This sword is certainly unique..." He'd finish, clearly almost just as interested in the blade as his dragonslayer friend. Judging by the detail of the print, he could already tell this blade was meant to be far more than just a strangely shaped sword. Thankfully Lucky wouldn't need to ask about the specific properties, as Leo seemed more than inclined to speak more about the weapon's rather interesting history.

Nymara's attention seemed to be fully on the blueprint, gazing over every detail with keen curiosity and admiration. Though it seemed even in this trance her attention could be diverted back to Leo when he made mention of a fire dragon. "Th- This is made from a fire dragon???" She would question, despite the fact Leo had already just confirmed the answer. Leo then went on to give more details about the specifics of the sword's design and how the properties of the fire dragon incorporated themselves into the weapon. It seemed whoever the original creator of this weapon was was well travelled. Or at least, uniquely experienced. While the details may have gone over Nymara's head Lucky began to suspect what level of masterwork this blade was. Assuming everything Leo said about it was true, this sword had the potential to be a terrible source of fire and death. Just like the fire dragon it was made from. "That would certainly explain some things..." Lucky would mumble slightly as Leo finished giving them the run-down on the weapon's specifics. He hadn't been in Earthland long, though he had obviously heard of the infamy of dragons. Through that he had also known that in the days long ago many would hunt dragons to make weapons just like this. In a way, the blade was like a dragon slayer, if not more controlled and relaxed than that in his current company. For Nymara, this was complete news! The idea of creating a weapon out of the body parts of a magical monster wasn't exactly new, though Nymara had never once considered the effects a dragon would have! Let alone one with fire! Thinking about it just made her more excited! Of course Nymara rarely thought about blacksmithing or forging much to begin with, though that would seem to change now.

Nymara pictured what holding Flameheart would look and feel like, envisioning herself in a cyclone of fire as she used her dragon magic to empower the weapon! Though that daydream quickly vanished when Leo announced his plans for the blueprint. "A- Archive it?! A b- beauty like this? You can't do that!" Nymara blurted somewhat abruptly. Sighing Lucky would speak up once more. "He does raise an excellent point, my lady. The power this weapon could give should not just be handed out. Especially to one who could make the *most* of its fire." Lucky shuddered just thinking about how much more destructive their jobs would be if Nymara wielded an ancient dragon fire sword. However Nymara wasn't convinced by her companion's wisdom. "I- I'll buy it from you! O- Or beat up someone you don't like or maybe-"
"With what money?" Lucky would interrupt with a small smirk, knowing better than anyone just how broke Nymara was. The firebrand scowled at the feline before returning her attention to Leo. She barely knew this man, though she got the sense he had some level of honour. "C- Can you at least tell me who made this design?"

Post by Sir Leonard 15th December 2022, 2:33 am

Despite his numerous doubts of letting a weapon such as this be known, Leo still quite enjoyed talking about a weapon he had a hand in making. Pride, love, and joy all went to every weapon he had made due to being raised by a family of smiths. It brought even more joy that young people of the current age still hold interest for his antiquated craft. For while some would simply use guns, and ever growing complex magics, a simple stab in the heart with a good blade seemed to be at the back of people's minds and such sentiments made the old man simply sit back and chuckle beneath the hood and his breath as he listened to the back and forth between slayer and exceed. Some things just stays the same, it seems.

However, when it came time to address the ultimate fate of the designs, Nymara reacted exactly as Leo expected. The push back along with volunteering herself to be the bearer of Flameheart was easily foreseeable given some... connections... the two had. Leo mused at the situation. Perhaps it was indeed fate that brought them together, a chance to give back to the Fairy Tail of now. Leo looked deep into the young lady's eyes and rubbed the beard on his chin with two fingers, assessing the possibilities of Slayer and sword while a question was posed the swordsmith's way.

While the answer was the old man himself as evidenced by appropriately inscribing his "Dragonbane" signature at the lower right corner of the prints, he wasn't about to reveal himself to the world quite just yet. He still believed he had to lay low to keep people around him safe. Yet the mind of an old man is prone to nostalgia and reminisce. He put his hand down from his chin on to the table, placing his rugged but gentle hands on the prints, leaving just a bit of space between the two, from which he'd open a small right and let slide the hilt of Skyheart, another dragon forged weapon of his making. He savored the moment, remembering his life and work for a appropriately brief moment before putting his ReQuipped weapon back to his rift and replied right after. "An... old friend of mine..." glimpsing slightly to his signature below.

Back to the matter of whether or not Nymara should possess the weapon, Leo remembered that the original Flameheart was wild. The sword was intense and cannot be easily controlled, a trait attributable to a dragon's prideful nature. You'd have to earn its respect through power, determination, and discipline and Leo only assuming she had two thirds of those at this point... but... wanting to arm Fairies would permit the young lady a chance to prove she does in a subtle test. "You're a good lass, Nymara, but I don't know you." he said seriously, perfectly hiding the fact that he does know her. "I'm not sure if the weapon would be safe in your hands. So I must decline." he continued, grabbing the scroll from the table and putting it back to his pack before standing up to leave. He turned around and thanked the bartender as he paid him and headed for the door quickly. "I must take my leave, excuse me." he said politely as he left. His eyes shifted back as far as they could, hoping Nymara to follow him to his next destination which was a fire lizard's cave to show the first requirement he'd like to test: determination.

Post by Nymara 15th December 2022, 1:30 pm

The mysterious man before them seemed unbothered by the constant back-and-forth banter between Nymara and her exceed companion, as the young firebrand was too caught up in the excitement of the moment to slow down. What Lucky had said earlier still remained true though, before now Nymara had never once thought of using any kind of weapon aside from her magic. Before now, she had no idea what kinds of possibilities even existed! In her relatively short time of being a wizard, the girl had heard stories of enchanted weapons and armor that some wizards may have used, though the thought of combining their strengths with the magic of a similar slayer had never once crossed her mind before she saw the print before her. She wondered if Akemi would even approve of such tactics, the twilight dragon always preferring stealth and guile to get the drop on her enemies. Of course, Nymara's training with Akemi was a different case than one would expect. Nymara didn't have shadow magic, therefore the twilight dragon had to find a way to teach the young girl in a way that would benefit her fiery nature. Perhaps a flaming sword could help with that!

Before long Leo would respond, causing Nymara's ruby gaze to lock onto his, though she thought she noticed another mysterious weapon of his before the older gentlemen requipped. His answer about the weapon's creator seemed a bit cryptic, though the dragonslayer could understand if Leo wasn't exactly eager to give away all the trade secrets. Still, it did little to diminish the girl's interest in the flaming weapon, which is why Leo's next words hit her particularly hard. " D- Don't know me???" Nymara would respond in a worried tone. "But I just told you my name!" She'd say again as Lucky snickered beside her. "You didn't seriously expect the first magical weaponsmith you meet to just *give* you one of his works, did you?" He would respond to Nymara who didn't appear to share his smug attitude about the situation. Damn it! She had already offered money or free labour, but this man still wouldn't budge. Something that was becoming increasingly obvious when he took the beautiful design and rolled it up again, causing Nymara's heart to sink.

"Then you could show me!" She'd say just as Leo was getting up to leave. The internal panic within her was rising as she saw her one chance to wield such an amazingly unique weapon slipping away between her fingers! No! She couldn't give up yet! "I believe Lord Leo has already made his intentions clear, my lady. I would not recommend pushing the subject." Lucky would attempt to warn his companion, even if he knew she would likely only ignore him. And ignore him she did as Nymara eagerly scrambled out of her seat to catch up with the taller man. "I- I happen to practice fire magic too, y'know! Maybe I could have better luck controlling it!" Nymara said again, following close behind Leo as Lucky rolled his eyes and sighed. "One of these days she's going to piss off the wrong person and it won't be pretty..." He cursed to himself before getting off the table and following his energetic companion.

As Leo exited the building the young girl was still close on his heels, her long white coat dragging behind her as she tried to keep pace with the man. "L- Look I understand you can't trust people you don't know with a weapon like this, so let me prove myself!" She'd continue eagerly. Most people would have accepted Leo's answer by now but Nymara wasn't exactly like most people. If she wanted something she would often fight tooth and nail to get it unless Akemi was there to shut her down. Of course, the twilight dragon would only do so for the same reason Leo was now, to prevent dangerous situations from arising before they even had a chance. "I will apologize for my companion once again, my lord." Lucky would say as he flew in pursuit of the two. "She often can't take a simple 'no' for an answer." He'd say with a scowl in Nymara's direction. The last thing Lucky wanted was Nymara's personality to piss off this weaponsmith. They did not need to make enemies when they were still lost in these mountains. "Awe cmon Lucky! Don't you think this blade is worthy of recognition? It shouldn't stay a piece of parchment, the world needs to see it made!" She'd respond, prompting Lucky to raise an eyebrow. "The world or just you?" He'd comment, causing a frustrated grunt from Nymara.
