Private City Lights on Urban Nights [E/BKs/Icarus]

Post by Ahote 15th July 2020, 6:00 am

When word got around that the Magic Council had commissioned nationwide block parties, Ahote knew that there was no doubt that he and his friends would be on the scene. The moody man didn't seem like the type to be into parties, and to some extent, he wasn't, but he and his friends had made it such a point to attend any festivity that it became a given that they'd all attend all the ones that popped up—including this one. Urban Nights was the name that coined the event being celebrated all over Fiore. They were advertised as nothing more than colorful block parties, but Ahote considered himself wise to assume that there'd be a modest amount of sex, drugs, and non-violent crime spiraling. It was funny what festive air could do to some people.

Alone in a closed Boomslang, Ahote was leaning over his bar counter in his casual attire despite him still being quite well-dressed. As for his physique, he looked different this time. He was as full of health and vigor as his healthiest, brown-haired, hazel-eyed form, but wasn't nearly as sickly-looking as his pale, silver-haired one. Instead, he was in his less common appearance in which his hair was almost the length it should've been, black, wavy, and his skin was beginning to regain some of its color. To the others, this wasn't anything new or out of the ordinary, but it would be the first time Icarus would have seen him with such a different appearance. Speaking of which...

"Ahh... they're definitely not going to let up tonight... I know they won't..." Ahote droned, staring at the counter with a hard, irritable look on his face. Somewhere in between the conversations he'd had with Icarus during their after-work 'experiences', Ahote had invited him out to the Capital Crocus block party with his friends, who would also be Icarus's coworkers. It was innocent enough, but he hadn't said a word about it to the others. Instead, he told them that he would meet up with them soon after the block party started, and he was dreading every second he was alone with his apprehension. "And that photo...!" he continued to groan, pressing his palm up against his sharp eyes. He had just recalled the photo Iris had taken of his basement and then subsequently posted on LacBook for everyone to see. Busy with work, the moody man didn't find the opportunity to text Iris back on it, and it wasn't anything inherently inappropriate or incriminating... but...!

Slam! Ahote pounded his fist onto the countertop, a strip of red blushing his face from ear to ear.

It's too embarrassing! Completely embarrassing! I didn't even know he had access to that! AGH! he thought to himself before softly banging his head against the counter in a fit of mortification. I just want to crawl underneath a rock and kill myself... that's what I want... but not before I kill him first... ugh...!

So there Ahote was, waiting inside of his closed nightclub for his 'employee' to come. He could hear the distant beats of paint drums and the cheers of men, women, and children as they danced down the streets. He could already tell that tonight would have no filter.

Also in his casual attire was Icarus, whom had just reached out and pulled the door of his workplace open to slip inside before one of the street partiers grabbed him. The man couldn't go wrong with a v-neck t-shirt in black and some loose jeans that sat low on the hips. Since this was an invitation so he'd zhooshed a bit, adding some tasteful rings and bracelets to make the normal leather bands at his wrists more stylish. The golden head was definitely in high spirits though this didn't manifest too much externally. He was a pretty chill guy in most situations, but the neon colors, endlessly thumping music and general levity rolling permeating the city gave his eyes a more alert gleam. It was only natural to go with it and have a good time, but first he needed to locate his boss. The boss that didn't seem to be where he anticipated.

He'd been expecting the sickly man he'd come to know in their dalliances off the clock. The pale hair and skin was absent, though there was someone there. A darker headed man, quite attractive if Icarus did think so himself. Dark hair was always a draw for the free-spirited young man, especially when it lively with curls. It was a shame that such a handsome face was being nearly rammed into the counter, twisted with some sort of mild distress. Icarus noted the style of dress was actually similar to Ahote, but if anything he presumed this was just an employee he hadn't met who was maybe nervous about handling the bar on his own while Ahote and Icarus took off for the festivities. Peering around for anyone else that would be in their party for the evening, he resigned to there currently being no one else he could ask. Either this was just another bartender or maybe one of Ahote's friends. Either way, it was just a crying shame that he'd have to approach him, right? "Hey, man, everything alright?" Icarus asked with genuine enough concern, though the expression on his face was a tad flirty as his hand slid along the now familiar bar he manned several times a week. He paused right in front of the man, still not recognizing him. "Have you seen the bo-- Ahote around? I'm supposed to meet him here," the wingless man asked next. Icarus was anticipating fun night, and he'd never fight off a good time.

music and sound goes hand in hand,
They're loud and beautiful, just like me.
beware, beware, the music man likes to play

Ahote wanted to meet up with the group ‘later’ at this block party, but Baird honestly wanted to see his lovable boss and friend before then! If anything, just to bug him for fun. He had dressed himself in nothing but a blue robe and a pair of matching flip flops as he left the current place of his residence, and traveled his way through Crocus in this getup. The robe was, thankfully for others eyes, was tied up, and made it hard to really tell if something was under there or not. He had decided to come with a new device he was working on incorporating into his magic. Of course, this musical man wasn’t so musical without him being noisy! It was practically his trademark at this point. But he also wanted to surprise Ahote with his new gadget! So quiet one must be if a surprise was to be in order.

As he approached the bar, Baird had seen the door closed as someone had entered it. He cocked an eyebrow up and tilted his head to the side some. Who in the world would be coming to the shop at this hour? He sped up his jogging, but had to quickly stop with the slaps of his flip flops on the ground. Poor choice of footwear apparently. Oh well, he could still surprise Ahote and his guest. Meant more of an audience when he came crashing in there too! He was very excited now. He sped up his walking, and happily pushed his long, green hair back over his shoulder. As soon as he threw the door open and started pressing one of the eight by eight square buttons on his device. On top of the device, next to the buttons near the top and along the side of them, were sixteen additional circle buttons, eight each side. The buttons he pressed on the device, began to light up in front of him as if there was a little screen in front of him showing what he had pressed to them.

As he pressed the buttons, music coming from little speakers of his device as he played. Honestly, he cared not for who was in the bar, everyone was listening to this masterpiece he was playing. A big o’ grin was spread across the green eyed mans face, as he played, till the song ended. The lights that had lit up in front of him disappeared as soon as he stopped, and he bowed quietly to them. “Thank you, thank you, please hold your applause… or not. Up to you.” He cheekily looks up to the other guy and tilted his head a bit. The robe was slowly loosening up, exposing more of his bare chest at least as he walked up next to him. “Hi, it’s closing hours right now… are you, by chance, lost?” His eyes softened as his smile got slier, and he started to show his teeth to this new guy. He had no qualms about doing this in front of Ahote. “Has anyone ever told you that you look quite handsome? Me-ow!” He cheekily nods as he looks over to Ahote. “Does he not look scrumptious, Ahote?” He holds the device in one hand, as he goes to put his other arm around the new guy.

So, there Ahote was, alone in Boomslang, slamming his fist and forehead on the countertop as if to alleviate the dread that overcame him. He was so deep in his head that when someone walked into his shop, he didn't even notice it. In fact, it wasn't until they were right in front of him that he briskly lifted his head from the countertop to behold whoever just approached.

It was Icarus—an attractive young man he had been casually seeing for 'fun in private,' and also his employee. Ahote knew that he had invited Icarus to meet him here, but he wished that he hadn't come when he was brooding. That aside, there was a matter of greater importance on the table. Icarus, never having seen Ahote in his healthier forms, didn't recognize him. After all, how could he? All three of his appearances looked so different from one another, one could easily decide that he was an entirely different person each time he changed. Still, Ahote found this amusing. He quietly exhaled from his nostrils in sort of a barely audible chuckle despite his face being as hard and solemn as ever, only cracking a very small smile.

"I guess it would be deceptive, wouldn't it? Actually, Icarus, I'm—"

Suddenly, swerving into Boomslang was a tall, slender man with dark green hair. He donned a loose-fitting robe and a pair of cheap flip-flops that made that obnoxious slap on any surface it was walking upon. But nothing was more notable about this man than the music he was playing and how it interrupted AHote mid-sentence. Without a shadow of a doubt, it was none other than his young companion, Baird.

Baird was quick to make himself known to both him and Icarus especially. Instantly, he began this sort of teasing banter between the three of them, and frankly, judging by the vexed look on Ahote's face, it wasn't received well.

"I thought I told you that I'd meet up with you and the others later? Get out! What the hell are you even wearing?!" Ahote reprimanded him with a raised voice, the angry look on his face so typical of him.

    "Huh?"

Icarus was left there to blink and try to connect all the chaotically swerving dots of the situation. First, the manner of speech of the dark-haired man, the mentioning of the meeting, and what he'd actually said rattled around in his brain. Half lidded orbs were rapidly becoming more visible as realisation dawned that somehow this healthy bloke was actually Ahote. His cheeks inflamed in shock and he had to raise a coiled fist to his mouth to try and hide his expression. The dalliances with the paler man had been fun, but Icarus understood it for what it was. Carnal pleasure. Since it was offered and Ahote was by no means ugly he'd simply rolled with it, but this version of his boss was much more his actual type. It was so shocking that initially, though he deep down knew it to be true, he told himself this was some sort of prank and this beautiful man couldn't be his sickly employer.

But then another man joined the fray. Playing some sort of electronic music on a button pad, a robed, green-haired individual serenaded the both of them into some sort of brief silence. "I'm not lost. I work here and was invited... and I've heard that before, yes," Icarus replied to the flirty newcomer, trying to play off the handsome comment. He wasn't lying. Icarus knew he had the looks, though he was humble enough to rarely comment on himself. It was one of the reasons for his confidence. The golden haired man wasn't anticipating being hit on by strangers, but he wasn't a very shy person so he took it in stride. The green haired man had also, more troublingly, confirmed what he already knew and didn't understand, though. This was truly Ahote, annoyed expression and all. The way Ahote's friend had snaked an arm around him, Icarus wondered what he'd really been invited to. Was it a rave or some sort of ménage à trois or what ever the term was for more than that, since he was under the impression there were still more to come for this group outing. As per usual, he'd go with the flow, but he was certainly curious about a number of things now. "This is quite a... drastic change, Ahote," Icarus noted, marveling at him but much more composed and back to his usual blasé self.

music and sound goes hand in hand,
They're loud and beautiful, just like me.
beware, beware, the music man likes to play

The green haired musician was one hundred percent aware that he was interrupting whatever was going on here, all the more why he had done it. He couldn't pass the chance up. A rather cheeky grin was on his face as he stuck close to the guy whom he just complimented on his looks, then glanced over to him. “I would ask how such a cutie could work here, but I’ve seen the rest of the staff and…” He trailed off as he snickered. He was ignoring Ahote’s little rave he was having on the other side of the counter for a moment. “Hi, I’m Baird. I’m the musician here at the bar. If you’re around long enough, you can hear the sounds of heaven from me.” He teased before his attention is back to Ahote. “Yeaaaahh… I know you said you wanted to meet later, but I wanted to see you now. Can’t I come and see the handsome man that is my boss and friend?!” He made the pad disappear and held his free hand up to his forehead while he hung on the other guy, becoming a slight deadweight on him, but not enough to drag him down, just put pressure on him.

He then quickly fixed himself and pointed to Ahote. “I’m also wearing apparel that covers me.” He smugly smiled to him. He then looked over to the guy once again, and something clicked again. He turned to face the guy and grabbed at his shoulders if he let him, turning him to face him. “Wait! You said you were invited here?!” He gasped and grabbed the guys face as he pulled him close. He glanced over to Ahote, smirking as his eyes were seeming like they were lit up a bit. “Are you… joining us on our party adventure? What’s your name?” He grins to the other as he cocks an eyebrow up to the other. He leaned his head forward a bit as he started to purr to the other. “I hope you are joining us… I’m sure you’ll have a delight with the others. When we go and see them.” He then turned his head to Ahote again.

“Why didn’t you tell us, Ahote?! I would have wanted to know about your plus one!” He quickly brought the mans face close again, hugging his cheek to his bare chest over the opening in the robe. “I will make sure you have fun at this rave! Any which way you desire to have fun with us!” He declares, being rather dramatic as he did so. He had paused for a moment and raised a hand in the air, pretending like he was playing a piano before he nods to himself. Another musical score already forming in his mind as he was doing so. He turned back to the guy, letting go of him, and bowing deeply to him, letting his robe hang on his shoulders before he stood up and tightened the tie around his hips. “Everyone is probably waiting for us! I don’t want them to wait too long. Want to head out now? Though… I wouldn’t mind staying back for a bit longer…” He licked his lips before glancing over to Ahote, raising an eyebrow. “With either of you two.”

Well, well, looked who followed instructions for a change...

Iris didn't show up at Boomslang even though he knew Ahote was there, no matter how curious he was about why he would linger after the bar closed for this auspicious occasion and meet up with them later. Like the good little cosmic collection of space particles he was, he was out debauching the massive party up. If there was anything Iris loved more than screwing with Ahote (ha), it was parties with copious amounts of substances. The perk of being in a human form that wasn't exactly human, he didn't have to worry about what was in those pills or rolled in that paper or what that powder was made of. It went down the hatch, but man his mouth was dry. Between the unspeakable things he'd just done to a woman wearing only glow in the dark necklaces for the illusion of modesty in that back alley and something breathed out of a pipe, he felt like he'd been chewing on never-wet wool.

Wait, where was Aelu? Had he arrived here ahead of everyone else with her, or had he imagined it? The violet man was with her so often and had been for so long, he was starting to always assume she was with him, especially for a party. They hadn't started the Buzz Killers for nothing! Mmm, yeah, if he'd come here with her, she'd probably be at the bar. What a coinkidink! He slithered through the crowd with a grace and poise that no one as crossfaded as him should be able to pull off, slipping up to the bar and leaning against it. "Oooo~" he marveled at the menu, curiously filled with names of drinks he'd never heard of. By the end of the night, he'd have no doubt tried them all, but for now he'd start at the top. "How about a Lit Meow Splash? That sounds purrrrfect~," he punned, getting a groan from the bartender and at least greatly amusing himself. That's what humans called a 'dad joke' he thought, and he'd pulled it off perfectly if he said so himself. He was so amused that he even snorted at his own brilliance, though his self-appreciation was distracted by the pretty pink drink that was slid his way. After getting a glowing stamp on his hand, he gulped it down and ended with a grin and a sigh. "Heeey~! This is really great!! What's in this?" he asked, one bartender to another. It did nothing to solve his thirst problem, but looking at his hands, he couldn't even be mad. He was glowing. Sure, he could have done this on his own, but it was far more fun when it was done to him against his will!

If anyone should be looking to find Iris in the crowd, they'd find him just where he should be. The gorgeous, otherworldly being currently enjoying his male form remained at the bar, now regaling the nearby drunken crowd with his favorite tricks and charming personality. Sure, he was also gauging everyone's eyes and their magical potential, taking note of those he'd be interested in, but to everyone else, it was just a cool party trick of pulling random crap out of people's eyes and throwing shade at people with lame items. "Oh my~, a Q-tip? Hahaha, this might be the most uninteresting thing I've ever pulled! Bless your heart~"

Aeluri had indeed arrived early with Iris to the raves in Crocus. Earlier in the day they were instructed to meet Ahote in the streets instead of at Boomslang, where he currently was. Baird, too, had been given the same instructions, but his presence was missing as the two Buzz Killers made their way through the crowds.

It wasn’t long before Aeluri lost sight of Iris. This seemed to be the kind of atmosphere where he thrived. She was sure he was off snorting coke off of someone’s body or something. His ceaseless debauchery didn’t surprise her anymore, but it often amused her. As she headed towards the nearest bar, she could swear she caught a glimpse of him far away in the crowd, but in an instant the throngs of people had covered him up.

Aeluri was intrigued by the block party celebrations that seemed to be going on all across Fiore. Though it was spurred by the Magic Council, the people of Crocus had seemed to take it to the next level. For days, people had been out preparing decorations and bustling about the streets. Posters advertising the festivities were plastered all over the city. When the night actually came, it was spectacular. Street lamps had been turned into black lights so everything glowed purple and neon colors. People were dressed in their most bizarre and striking rave outfits, most of which involved very little clothing. Aeluri herself hadn’t come in rave gear, just shorts and a simple loose racerback tank top that had deep, open sides. Since she had arrived, she had acquired many neon accessories from people passing by. Though she was a thief by heart, these had actually been gifted by enthusiastic ravers that were obviously on too many substances. So far she donned many glowstick bracelets, a flower crown, and various paint and stamps in neon colors all over her body.

The noise was a bit overwhelming, but the visuals were attention-grabbing. Aeluri found she couldn’t look anywhere without there being a blast of color and light. At the bar, the bartenders were a mad rush of neon white, green, pink, and yellow. It was hard to concentrate enough to order herself a drink. She decided to stick around the bar for a while. If Iris realized they were separated, he would know where to find her.

After a while and a few drinks, her teammate appeared at the bar. The drink he ordered had caused his skin to start glowing. Aeluri snorted in amusement. However, she wasn’t one to talk, as the drink she’d had earlier was starting to turn strands of her long, black hair rainbow. The dark woman hadn’t noticed it yet. Iris had begun entertaining some others at the bar with his eye tricks. Aeluri watched for a bit, but decided to go explore a bit more before Ahote arrived. Maybe she could find Barid if he was around.

The steady beating of drums became louder as she left the bar area. Normally she would consider this a racket, but the rhythm was so constant and powerful. Her interest was probably urged on by the various alcohol and substances flowing through her veins. Aeluri steered her feet towards the sound, weaving through bodies as she made her way closer. She breached the edge of the circle people had made around the drums. Before her was a group of five people sitting on stools. The drums at their toes were covered with pools of vivid paint. With each strike of the drumsticks, the paint jumped and danced and splashed. Everyone nearby was being splashed by all sorts of colors and cheering the whole time.

As Aeluri had appeared in the circle’s edge, she caught the lead drummer’ attention. He motioned for the rest of the drummers to continue, then stood and approached her. “Miss, you’re hardly dressed for a rave at all! Let’s get some more color on you! How ‘bout it? Wanna take a spin?” he asked, gesturing to the drum behind him. Aeluri’s eyebrows rose. Did she want to? Her usual rigidness was melting away with the night and the festivities. Maybe she could indulge just this once…

    “Sure,” she replied.

“Here, let me give you the stamp before you start. That way you can stay as long or as little as you’d like.” The drummer grabbed a stamp from his pocket and gently grabbed her hand, pressing the rubber against her skin. Upon her hand was a smiley face stamp that seemed to be slightly enchanted to be visible and to last a while. Aeluri gave a nod to the drummer, then reached out and grabbed the drumsticks from his hand. Taking the seat he had just abandoned, she straightened her back and looked down at the drum. While she wasn’t very musically inclined, how hard could it be to hit a drum? The crowd and other drummers had quieted down, eyes trained on the dark woman. Everyone who tried the drums got a chance to play them in front of the others during their turn.

Aeluri took a deep breath, then raised the drumsticks and crashed them down upon the paint-covered surface. A loud boom shook from the drum and in an instant her arms were coated in color. Again, she hit the drum, then another time until it turned into a steady rhythm. Around her, the watchers and other drummers cheered. More beats began to accompany her own, and the steady sound of the drums rang through the streets once more.

Much to her surprise, Aeluri found herself having fun with this. She didn’t mind the things that would normally annoy her, such as the sticky feeling of paint on her skin and the presence of so many people. It didn’t matter right now. All that mattered was the paint and the drums, not to mention the attention she was getting. The corner of her lip curled up in a slight smile.

As usual, Baird's very presence seemed to stress Ahote out. Even after reprimanding him, the green-haired musician had acted oblivious to his words, instead, inspecting Icarus like a fresh piece of meat. In some sense, the blonde was. In fact, he knew that Baird and the others would have been so interested and intrigued by his plus-one that he arranged their meeting times separately because of it. That, and his unfamiliar visage as well. Speaking of which...

"Is it? Why, am I that unattractive?" he asked Icarus, cracking a very brief smile before reverting back to that annoyed, stern look on his face before when he heard what Baird said. "No—" Ahote rejected Baird's questionable suggestion, taking his jacket from a stool and beginning to lead the way out of the building, "—I think we've overstayed this rendevouz anyway."

Fiore was experiencing a warmer season, at the time, so dressing heavily or wearing jackets weren't really necessary or advised. However, since the somewhat gloomy man had yet to complete his restoration, he was still experiencing mild fatigue, weariness, and chills, and felt inclined to at least bring a thin jacket for comfort. He had grown used to the perpetual lack of energy because of his necromancies, but knowing what it felt like to be up-to-par made the grogginess never feel quite normal. Hardly anything was normal these days, including Crocus.

When Ahote and the others stepped out onto Capital Crocus streets, they'd be greeting with swarms of colorful people who dressed and acted so vibrantly, they might as well be pieces of art themselves. People were dancing, eating, drinking, and some of them doing those in much more illegal ways from this street all the way to the Royal Family's estate. It was actually quite wild and maybe even overwhelming for the biggest of extroverts. With Iris and Aeluri probably a few blocks ahead, he wondered if they'd ever find each other with all this temptation around them.

Tap! Tap! He could feel a finger prod his shoulder. When Ahote peered over to look, it was a scandously dressed woman with a platter of shot glasses.

"Aqua?" he offered him, raising the platter.

Ahote looked at her with that same stoic, hard look on his face. "Pardon? Aqua? You don't mean water, do you?"

"Yeah, Aqua! Here, have a few." the woman winked, handing him a handful of those tiny glasses and walking away without explanation.

"Wait—" Ahote tried to gently grab her, but she was long gone before he could, vanishing into the crowd. As a result, he was left there, looking at those glasses filling his hands with a look of suspicion. When he raised it to his nose, he smelled nothing particularly alcoholic, and the liquid was as transparent as water should be. It wasn't carbonated, and it was lukewarm at best. "Aqua..." Ahote mumbled to himself once more, before making the brave decision to drink one. It, indeed, tasted like water, and so it must be water. He was beginning to feel thirsty, anyway.

After that, it seemed that the night was guaranteed to deprive the group of any sort of downtime. In the center of the road, a circle was being made by the swarms of people littering the street. In the middle of it all were two young women who looked identical. Their clothes were the same, their hairstyles were symmetrical to one another, and the very vibrant colors marking their attire glowed in the dark. They were, at the very least, eye-catching. But what garnered even more attention than their appearances was their dancing. In fact, the crowd surrounding them was egging on none other than dance-offs like excitable highschoolers. It wasn't anything Ahote was interested in participating or watching, but he couldn't help but notice something soft, fluffy, and easy on the eyes resting on top of a pedestal made of large crates.

A gigantic, brand-new, stuffed teddybear. It was easily as big as a large child or small person, but it was just as fluffy as a Bellum Grizzly. It was clear by the pedestal it was given that it was a prize for whoever appeased this crowd in their dancing the most, and boy did Ahote want it.

"So..." Ahote started, looking up at that glorious stuffed animal with lightly flushed cheeks, pink ears, and that still-stern look on his face, "I don't suppose either of you knows how to dance, do you?"

    Icarus

The off-duty bartender was genuinely gobsmacked, though he was trying his best not to appear so. This robed man, newly dubbed 'Baird', was a lot to handle with the excessive flirting, which he couldn't decide if it was just that or if he was trying to annoy Ahote. Perhaps it was both. At any rate, Icarus wasn't one to get too fussed over being touched, though it was annoying since he was trying to get to the bottom of his boss' new face. Icarus' face was grabbed and pulled toward the man's bare chest, and that's the position he was in when he managed a slightly muffled reply. "My name is Icarus, and yeah, I'm coming along," he answered the flamboyant man, stuck somewhere between irritated and amused by the antics. This was the musician of Boomslang, eh? Well, he'd worked quite a few shifts now and had yet to see him, and certainly Baird was someone who left an impression. So either they were on complete opposite schedules, or there was more than one musician and Baird rarely worked.

Finally he was released. Leaving the plus one smooth the wrinkles from his shirt, he took a few nonchalant steps away and toward the door, heavily debating escape but also hoping it would get the others moving to the party. Or at least outside to smoke. He was feeling just a little stressed. While Baird might not care about missing it to stay here and do unspeakable things, Icarus was quite excited about the country-wide party and not being at work. And though he didn't get to respond to Ahote's potentially rhetorical question about his looks in the chaos, he couldn't help but keep glancing at the man as he snatched up his coat and made for the door. Finally they'd be on their way.

Once back out on the streets, Icarus stayed close to Ahote and only strayed for a moment to get some glowing accessories, which he'd share with the dark headed man if he wanted. If Ahote thought he was charming while on the clock, maybe he'd find himself a little more enlightened seeing Icarus in a more casual, natural light, even though the actual lights were anything but natural. It seemed the young man knew quite a few people on the streets, some from Boomslang but many not. There was the girl from two flats down from him, a sassy little number with dark skin and green hair and eyes. He fielded her with easy charm and good-natured laughter, even though she was already absolutely pissed and had lost most of her clothing. Strong hands grabbed his arm a little further into the crowd. It was the man with the super hero muscles from the flat beneath his. Though his strong jaw and pale blond hair made him look quite menacing, he broke into a smile as Icarus turned and then clapped him hard on the shoulder, hard enough for Icarus to 'oof'. His accent was thick and nigh gibberish in all the noise, but they still managed to have a small walking chat before the large man wandered off. It was hard to believe the Icebergian had not too long ago punched Icarus hard enough to knock him out for being too loud. Obviously they'd made up later.

There was a friendliness about Icarus that drew people of all kinds in, yet an aloofness that kept them at an arm's length. He always carefully toed a line that allowed him to have friends, but those friends might not even realize they knew next to nothing about him and if he ever disappeared, it would seem about right, as if they'd known he was intangible all along. It was better for everyone this way. It was more of the same with Ahote, though Icarus seemed increasingly interested and more brazen in his staring. Dark hair made such a difference, and seeing him in the middle of a mass rave made it all the more new and exciting. Perhaps Icarus was falling into the same trap he set for others, finding him interesting but knowing next to nothing about him. From countenance alone, Boomslang and this party seemed like things a poised and enigmatic individual would hate, yet he owned one and had invited him out to the other. He'd been about to ask for more clarification on the change in appearance when the immodest girl with the 'Aqua' appeared. They'd both received handfuls of shots, but Icarus wasn't easily fooled. This had to be alcohol. Regardless, he'd tip them back quickly and set the tiny empty cups on another passing tray. He'd never known Ahote to drink alcohol before, but he too had consumed the liquid. Maybe things would get interesting.

He'd never anticipated what would end up happening. Seeing Ahote blushing at a large stuffed animal gobsmacked him for the second time tonight. Plushies? It seemed so out of character, yet here the man was basically asking his two accomplices if either of them could win it for him.

Icarus' lips spread into a crooked, almost cocky smile. This was a time for a secret ex-rich boy to shine, not that he'd been searching for an opportunity. Rich people spent ridiculous amounts of time and money on learning basically useless things, and one of his many wastes had been dance classes. All kinds of dance taught by Bellum's best. "I got this," he said, moving his way through the ring of instigators to stand opposite of the twins.

They weren't half bad, but a lot of their flair came from their identical gimmick and duo-moves. Icarus was by no means a professional either, but his body was well maintained and he had full control of it. His physical strength played to his advantage for the more technical moves, aerobatics, and break dancing portions, and his shirt coming off to reveal with large white wings that glowed in the black light countered their cute gimmick as well as distracted from his obvious inferiority at pop and lock. Being able to levitate and incorporate skydancing was something they couldn't match. Normally Icarus would hate to admit that he danced in the air, but what one does in their extended periods of time airborne all alone was apparently necessary to win this battle. After comparing the loudness of audience cheers for the competitors, a panting Icarus was handed the huge soft bear, which he carried over to Ahote. "I don't suppose you'd like to have this?" he asked rhetorically, watching the stern man's face closely.

music and sound goes hand in hand,
They're loud and beautiful, just like me.
beware, beware, the music man likes to play

Baird honestly paid no mind to Ahote’s words as he figured they were an act to play hard to get. Though, the green haired man was honestly unaware that he was stressing his friend and boss out with his very presence. When the blond man introduced himself and mentioned that he was coming, Baird lit up with excitement. “Icarus. That rolls off the tongue so well.” He purrs to the other, letting his eyes soften as he looks to his face. As Ahote thinks he’s unattractive, Baird sputters and snorts. “You are sexy as all hell, Ahote. Goddamn, either look you have, handsome.” He smirks as he leans a little towards Ahote. Though, his grin he was sporting had dropped to a pout when he was rejected for his suggestion of entertaining them both. “Party poopers.” He sighs heavily. He just wanted to get laid again. Maybe Iris and Aeluri would indulge him in these endeavours, or encourage Ahote to be with them even! That would be a swell time! Then again, this new hunk of blond wouldn’t be too bad himself. Now to try to pry little hottie away from Ahote to score.

These two were both heading towards the door, saying that it was time to go, and Baird sighs rather heavily. “I suppose we should… honestly hoped for a bit we could have had a bit more before we met with the others.” He pretends to pout towards them, but it didn’t really last long as he jogs after them both.

At the area for the venue, Bairds eyes were definitely sparkling with the love of everything around him. This was one hundred percent his paradise that he would stay forever at if he could. He raised his hands and was jumping from side to side while he enjoyed the music. He could still do better though. He looked over to Ahote as he was offered a drink, and raised an eyebrow. He wasn’t sure that that was exactly ‘water’ that Ahote was going for, but he wasn’t going to argue in case it actually was, though, he wouldn’t put it past the partygoers to spike the water with something… fun. He had passed on the Aqua for now, planning to get something later instead to increase his own fun. He had followed the group a bit longer before Ahote questioned if he or Icarus knew how to dance. “Of course I know how to dance. What about you? Care to slowdance? Or pound it to the beat?” He snickers, but shook his head. He watched as Icarus decided he was going to take over dancing and chuckles a little. He could have fun. Then, his eyes had gone up to the DJ station. “I think… I may catch up to you two later.” He grabbed Ahote’s shoulder briefly, squeezing it as he did so. “Keep an eye on that stage there.” He chuckles as he starts melting into the crowd.

The green haired robed man had managed to slip his way to the stage and was talking up to the DJ just as the song Icarus had been dancing to had ended. The DJ had a huge grin forming on his face and pointed down to Baird. The next moment, Baird is hopping up onto the stage and is handed the headphones. Unlike down with Ahote, Baird was now seeming rather calm and serious, especially as he pulled his hair back and into a high ponytail. He waits for the DJ to introduce him. “Hey! Yo! Peeeee-pooooooole! This is your boom DJ Trace! I’m glad to announce DJ Bairddddd to the booooooth yooooo!” He yells into the microphone, making the crowd shout and bounce in excitement before he grabbed Bairds hand and stamped it quickly with a neon green rainbow outline stamp. Baird pulled the headphones down around his neck as he started to fiddle with the machinery around him. His bright green eyes look up to the crowd as he gave a hungry look to them all, smirking as he did so.

It only took him a moment to get used to these controls, and with a devilish grin he started pressing more buttons and producing actual music over the random noise he had been blaring through the speakers. The beat was decently even and deep, the tang tapping just right in there. His grin didn’t leave as he started swaying from side to side and bobbing his head in tune with the music. He got the beat going and occasionally raised his arm in the air to pound it to the crowd, hyping them up with his music while the lights flashed in sync with the sound. If any of the Buzz Killers, or even Icarus, was actually watching him, they’d see Baird in the few times he was actually serious, which tended to be typically when he was making music for others to listen to, or when thinking of how his next song would go.

He had brought up one of the headphones ear pieces and held it to his ear for a moment while he fiddled with the DJ booth some more, grinning at the muffled effect he had made and nodding his head in approval at how the song was coming on. Of course the majority of the crowd was high or drunk to care about what they were listening to, so long as it beat well and they could jump to it, he provided. He danced with them, his robe slipping off of one of his shoulders and exposing half of his chest while staying tied around his hips and keeping him covered. Eventually the song had ended for him, and he let up a quick wolf howl before throwing up his fist and jumping off the stage. He’d keep these headphones! The DJ had plenty of other headphones up there. He saw. One pair wouldn’t make a difference.

He had been swallowed into the crowd, honestly unsure if he’d be found by any of his teammates or Icarus, or if he’d end up in someone else’s bed. Regardless, that was a goal tonight as he grabbed a drink off of a passing tray and downing it while the DJ started up another pounding song.

Despite just how talented of a showman he could be, Iris also easily grew bored. Everyone was so mellow on drinks and whatever else that no one got angry when he sassed them over their low quality worth, so what was the point? And while Iris was always in the mood to relieve people of the more excellent specimens, he would pass for now...if only because he knew how moody Ahote got about it. This festival would go better than the last ones if it killed him, and he was nearly impossible to kill.

He wouldn't lie and say, after Ahote chose to drag his feet to this event and he couldn't seem to lay eyes on Baird or Aeluri, that he hadn't thought of bailing to try and find Beaux. Sure, he'd have to hold back around the legal mage since he knew full well how unruly he got, but that was precisely why he was here waiting for the Buzz Killers and not with his lover. Iris desired to absolutely let go wild, sans eye reaping. As usual, Hidden Blades had been a buzzkill and he wanted to feel...well, nothing.

"If I draw one more pocket watch I'm going to hang~ myself with the chain," he informed everyone, standing up on the bar and giving a deep, dramatic bow. "Now, if any of you would like to be more amusing without clothing, come find me. If not, I'll be going now~"

Even in this environment, people were more prudish than not, so the violet headed man went wandering back off into the crowd alone. He danced a little, partook in some questionable offerings of substances, snatched drinks of passing trays, and generally occupied himself as much as he could. Alas, the cosmic being wasn't one for existing alone. Yes, he felt alone in the gyrating horde, even those he touched and swayed against. This wouldn't do. Where were his friends? The clingy, currently-male entity, who was very properly three sheets to the wind or more, once more slithered through the bodies, eyes blearily searching for his long lost buddies.

His buddies he did not find, but he did happen upon something distracting. There was an opening formed in the crowd, a wide circle where only three people appeared to be given room. He shouldered his way to the front, eyes lighting up at what he saw. Adorable twin women that matched and a blond man were engaged in a dance battle! He watched the neon blurs whirl within the circle. Honestly, he thought the girls had it. The man was good, but he wasn't nearly as interesting--whoop, there it was! He pulled out his trump card with those wings, taking to the air and presenting something so special, so unexpected, a little dorky, but ultimately kinda pretty air dancing. Iris's large purple eyes with their blown-out pupils gazed on, enraptured and holding his breath to see who won. The bird boy pulled it off, snatching his prize and taking off to the opposite side of the people gap.

"Oh, no no, birdy~" he mumbled to himself, streaking across the quickly closing space in pursuit of the feathery man. "Come baaaack! I like the way you moooove~" he wailed over the music Baird was playing, coming up behind the dance-off winner and throwing himself over him. "Hey~" he purred, and just as he peeked around the body he clung to, he spotted Ahote. "Hey!" he squeaked with a bright grin, standing there with an arm around Icarus's shoulders, naked as a newborn human baby (if they glowed) and just as oblivious. Where and when had his clothes gone? Who knows.

As her turn with the drummers ended, Aeluri found herself wandering the crowds once more. She’d made her way back to the bar for another drink. Iris was nowhere to be found, but his little audience was still standing around discussing his parting words with disturbed looks on their faces. No doubt the space dust had gotten bored with them and left to find something more debaucherous to do. Aeluri grabbed another few drinks at the bar, stuff that was more normal than the peculiar one she’d been given earlier.

The dark woman went to flip some of her long strands of hair over her shoulder. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed vibrant colors moving with her hair. Surely it was just some paint, right? Pulling the locks back in front of her, Aeluri realized that some of the strands were now a vibrant rainbow color instead of their usual raven black.

“Ah!” she gasped, stumbling back off of her stool. “What the hell happened to my hair?!” Black was her favorite color. Now her beautiful dark hair was streaked with rainbows! Ugh.

“Dude, did you have a drink called um… the Razzle Dazzle?” A nearby man turned in his seat to look at the astonished woman with amusement. His voice was kind of dopey and he drew out his words slowly.

    “Yes,” Aeluri snapped.

“That liquid is bonkers, yo. It makes your hair go ka-pow!” He raised his hands next to his head and spread out his fingers to mimic explosions. It seemed he had been partaking in many of the odd concoctions served tonight, as his hair was completely rainbow, his skin was glowing, his clothes were dyed green, and he had a dumb, drunk smile on his face.

Ka-pow, right,” Aeluri said in a deadpan tone, her unamused glare piercing the stranger. “How long does it last?”

“No clue, boo,” his friend piped up between hiccups. “You just gotta wait it out, cub scout.” The two giggled and returned to their conversation.

“Ugh.” Hopefully it would wear off soon. Aeluri didn’t realize how much she missed the color black until it was gone from her own hair. She would have to wear black for a week to make herself feel better.

Speaking of feeling better, she really wanted to find her teammates now. Maybe teasing Ahote or pulling Iris (and/or Baird) off to a dark alleyway for a few minutes would make her forget about her hair. She took off into the crowd once more. On the search, she stopped a few times to indulge in drinks or illegal substances to pass the time. Little did she know that people at this block party had brought their strongest stuff. There would be side effects out the wazoo tonight.

Aeluri emerged from around a group of nearly-naked ravers, wiping her nose, just in time to see Iris draping his body over another man like a meat blanket. Ahote stood with them, looking as milquetoast as ever, but now with a fluffy teddy bear in his arms. Was that a new haircut? She couldn’t tell. And who was that man her violet-haired teammate was all over?

It took her a second to realize Iris was buck naked. Not only that, but he was glowing! Aeluri let out a giggle, then a few more as the intense high fueled her amusement. It wasn’t that she found Iris’ nudity funny in itself - she had seen him without clothes too many times to count. No, it was the fact that he was just completely exposed in the middle of a crowd, gleaming like some kind of wacky human-shaped glowstick! The thought of cracking Iris in the middle to make him glow more caused her to let out a snort.

Baird pushed his way through the crowd nearby, freshly departed from the DJ booth, and Aeluri rushed over to him. “Baird! BairdBairdBairdBaird,” she gushed, clinging on to his arm. Maybe she had taken too much of too many drugs, or maybe the combination of odd cocktails and intense substances was causing an unusual reaction. Either way, here she was, giggly and covered in rainbow paint from her earlier drumming.

“Baiiiiiiird, look! Iris! Is! Glowing! And he’s naked,” Aeluri wheezed out a laugh.

Oh, of course he knew how to dance. Not only did he have a good face, could whip up a good cocktail, and was charming altogether, but he could dance too? What next, he was secretly a wealthy man as well? Well, regardless, his moves proved to be impressive and just the right amount of umph to win over the crowd, and therefore win the needlessly soft and large bear as the prize. As far as Ahote was concerned, it was a victory for them both.

When Icarus had returned to him with the gigantic teddy bear in hand, Ahote's face was a little pink. "Ah... you're too kind." his said sternly, but his face becoming redder than it already was. As it turned out, those Aqua drinks were, in fact, not water. Maybe anyone with any common sense could come to that conclusion, especially a man who worked with alcohol, but even he had times where he could be a little too trusting of people. The last time he had consumed any amount of alcohol was when he had a meltdown about Basilisk Fang, and boy, was he a lightweight! Between the time Icarus had started dancing and stopped, Ahote was at the very least, very buzzed. Though, it was more likely for him to just be intoxicated at this point.

And then, in the gentle gust of a summer's wind, it happened.

"I didn't know you could dance like...like...uhm..." Ahote's words trailed off when he saw who was next to Icarus, wrapping around him like some clingy insect. It was none other than Iris Esperanza, a man whose sexual desire knew no bounds, and neither did his clothes, apparently. He stood there, grinning as he greeted them, but Ahote didn't say anything. Instead, he was staring at Iris with this blank look on his pink face. He looked at his grinning face first, and then his chest, his waist, and then he was staring straight at his groin with the same blank, vacant look on his face as before. You could almost hear the drunken gears turn as he slowly began to realize just what he was looking at. He just stared until his face became even redder, and a smile began to crack his lips.

"Oh hi, Iris. I'm really, really, really sorry for not getting to you and Aewu sooner. I—I—uh, was with... where... are they...?" Ahote said softly, tucking his grizzly prize in between one arm so he could embrace his lavender friend with the other, rocking back in forth in a hug with a stupid smile on his face. It wasn't until his voice trailed off that he began to look for Baird. Not surprisingly, he was swallowed by the crowd as he enchanted them with his undeniable talent for music, but with him was none other than Aeluri... or Aewu, in this case, with her hair not in its usual raven form. Instead, she looked like she had made a detour to a PRIDE parade before coming here with that colorful head of hers. Spotting them from his hug, Ahote smiled again with satisfaction. For one reason or another, the drunk man didn't pull away from Iris just yet. Instead, he continued as is. "Uhm, the stud next to you is Icawis. We've been havin' a lot of sex recently. And like... I mean... a loooot.... like... hooooly shit it's wild..."

It was as if with every passing second, Ahote was suffering from the effects of that Aqua more and more. Unlike the wet and soppy mess of a drunk he was before, now he just seemed... tired and happy. Even now, he was beginning to get too comfortable in his embrace with Iris, feeling himself drift off more and more.

"Here, I'm sorry..." Ahote pulled away from the hug for a moment, only to give Iris a kiss on the bridge of his nose. Oh yes, he was drunk indeed. A sober Ahote would have never done such a thing. He was almost... too affectionate. When he did pull away from the hug, it was only to switch to Icarus, to which embraced the same way he did with Iris, burying his face into his shoulder with a warm, bubbly smile. "Thank yoooou... I'm tired..."

The clearly flustered man trying to mute his reaction was just what Icarus expected, but still satisfying to see. A smug smile slowly crept over his lips, and to be honest, he really wanted to lean in and kiss the blushing man because he was being so cute. That thought was actually a little alarming to him, given his attempts to keep everything in his life aloof and casual. That they were doing wasn't particularly affectionate and there wasn't a lot of kissing, so the impulse took him aback. He told himself it was just the shocking change in appearance, but none of it mattered in the end. Unfamiliar arms draped over him from behind, stilling any actions or words or he might have said into silence. Peeking down, he noticed the arms were glowing. From the suggestive waver in the voice, he just knew this was a come on. Watching someone dance always caught attention of already stimulated crowd members, but the second greeting sounded different. The glowing person rounded Icarus properly and the winged man proceeded to get an eyeful of naked glowing man. "Oh...you are....very naked..." he muttered, eyes traveling from the face under purple hair to the less mentionable parts, wondering if he should start trying to get away now or just let it happen. Even stranger than being grabbed by a random naked guy was finding out he wasn't random. Ahote knew him. So Baird had set the tone of the friends he was going to meet after all. When he looked back to the brunette clutching his furry prize, he noticed his eyes were also where Icarus' had just been. That made sense.

It might have hit him later than some, but everything was starting to be a blur. A little from the Aqua, which seemed to be deceptively strong, but mostly from the absolute chaos that came from meeting the rest of Ahote's group. Baird had rejoined the group off to the side and had a rainbow haired woman giggling on his arm, who was called Aewu? The naked one was Iris. His introduction by the man he'd never seen drunk hung in the air as his boss continued to cling to the glow worm. "So these..." Words failed him for a few moments. Overwhelmed and again gobsmacked eyes roved over the motley crew, incredulous that these people could possibly be the friends of the usually stern and collected employer of his. The pieces didn't fit. Then again, he was the outsider here. Maybe he was the one who didn't fit. "These are your friends we're meeting today?" Icarus finally squeezed out of his throat, which was tight from suppressing laughter. The laughter turned into something of a wheeze as Ahote informed Iris of their...situation... and despite his cool exterior, his cheeks finally set fire and he raised a hand to cover his mouth, which was wavering between embarrassment and mirth. What the hell had he gotten into? Did Ahote have a fling with every single one of these wild people?

A tray bobbed by at just the right time, so 'the stud' held up a finger as if to pause the whole situation, though he doubted they'd notice. Iris had Ahote and Baird had Aewu This was a strong flavored group, and Icarus felt if he was to keep up, he needed many more drinks. Most people probably didn't empty an entire tray in one go, but he was thirsty from dancing and in the presence of something that transcended natural party culture. Shot after shot was tipped back, and once all the empty glasses were slammed back down and the shooter girl was off, a more inebriated Icarus turned to shine a lopsided grin at them all. "Nice to meet you all," he replied, much more at ease knowing that within moments of all the liquor hitting his stomach and being processed, he was about to care a whole lot less about this crazy situation. Maybe he'd be more prepared for what he suspected was about to happen to him.

Ahote had finally released Iris and was now draped on him. Icarus didn't mind. "Naaahhh, Ahote? It's not time to be tired. We just caught up with everyone. Don't you want to party with all your colorful friends?"
