    MUSIC IS THE SUPERIOR CURE
ALL THE LAUGHTER IN THE WORLD, PACKAGED INTO A SINGLE MELODY OF SONG

Several years had passed since Kata had stepped foot in Fiore, but it was no different. Magic curbed the progression of technology to some extent, mages taking care of the most treacherous work. For this reason, the young woman could recognize the nation quite easily. The towns seemed much the same, with the exception of some neighborhoods that had clearly been renovated. Whether that were thanks to their destruction at the hands of dark mages, Kata could not presume to know. Her reasoning for returning to this country was quite simple. Irina, her sister, was missing. Years ago, the two had boarded a mysterious flying ship and made allies with the other passengers. At some point, they had been separated, and Kata had been searching ever since.

Fiore was the first place she and her sister had hidden after first escaping from their hell hole of a home. It was only fitting that it be one of the last areas she checked; knowing Irina, she would hate to revisit the past. However, one could never be too sure. During her time here, Kata planned to join the Rune Knights, if at all possible. Judging by the research she had already conducted, it would be the perfect fit. The guild's goals lined up with the ocean eyed young woman, and she would require compatriots and money to accomplish her mission, not to mention staying alive. When it came to this nation, the costs of surviving, especially within a city, were nothing to scoff at. Living in a bad state was not on the dark haired girl's agenda.

Therefore, Kata had arrived in Era today. Her dear Exceed had flown her directly there, and she dismissed them with a smile and a wave. Determined to make as good of an impression as possible, the bright eyed mage had decided not to rely on a translator. She could make do with her tablet and telepathy; if they failed, she also had sign language. Should neither of those bring her any success, the brunette thought she might as well return home. For now, she was dressed in ordinary clothes, a dark blazer over a khaki pleated skirt. To most onlookers, Kata would seem to be a high school, perhaps a university student, from a preppy or posh family. Era had plenty of those. As far as the young woman knew, it wasn't altogether uncommon for civilians to visit the headquarters of the Rune Knights on business. She counted on there being some sort of receptionist or person she could talk to, as she took her first step inside.

Steeling herself, Kata closed her eyes briefly before reaching out to the closest nearby minds. Praying they were friendly. And patient. She let out a telepathic echo of a message that said, 'Hi, not to intrude in your head, but my name is Kata, and I'm seeking guidance on how to join the Rune Knights.' Not everyone had a mental state receptive to thought transference, but hopefully someone nearby could pick up on her missive. The female had actually found that the majority of non-magical individuals, as well as a huge portion of mystically gifted ones, had minds that were closed to extrasensory communication. Many of them did so deliberately, afraid of people slipping into their heads and reading off what they were thinking. Kata could do no such thing; it was a one-way street only, unless a bond was cultivated over time. Regardless, though, she understood others' wariness. Thoughts were quite private things.

Plopping herself down in her custom chair, it was time for a bit of a break. Having been out all night getting to know her twin sister again, she had spent the morning on a town walk just walking around in uniform. It was important to her to go around and try to do the same job that other Knights would do. To show she was just as responsible and easing a bit of the work from them was part of her kinder self. But, she had started this in the earliest of cracks of dawn until now. It was a bit of perk for her due to her being an elemental, so it hadn’t been without any enjoyment or fun that she go about this any differently than she would anything else. No need for sleep aside from exhaustion and no need for food outside of her own personal choice of consuming, it made her a rather effective person to being doing patrols or anything long term, even dangerous.

Now that she was back in her office and seated down to relax, the brunette bunny had kicked back in her chair and just in holding out her hand, would make a carrot appear from thin air before taking a decent bite out of it. In the room with her were two of her three spirit companions; Silvia and Eliyares. A Sylph and a water spirit respectively, the two had been in their spirit forms, resting on a couch nearby. Opting out of her own place, the couch had been her sleeping place, albeit living out of her office technically. Though she was either in the office on business or off on personal bouts of tackling large, dangerous creatures. An old passion that she truly enjoyed. Bringing her back to the days of Lamia Scale for sure, however leaving that back. As she was reminded, reminiscing too much of the past wasn’t healthy for the future. Much to her advantage, huge holes of her past were still missing, so being able to do such a thing was not much of an option.

The two receptionists watched as a young woman entered the headquarters. With a standard greeting, both were rather stunned as they could hear a voice, but were unable to see whom it was coming from. One of the grasped the idea from the wording, though they remained confused as to why she wouldn’t just speak normally. “Umm.. right, sorry. General Ceostra is down the hall. Take a right at the end here and straight down. Last door on the right. And as a heads up, Miss. She can tend to be a bit air headed.” The receptionist advised, smiling. They showed no signs one way or the other of being serious or joking, but perhaps she would find out when she arrived. What she could hear though as she began her move down the hall was the sound of music —more specifically, a violin. As she would get closer to the office, it would grow louder and louder. Ultimately, it would be known that the music came from her office, however it sounded nothing like a recording or a prerecorded one. More like someone was playing a live solo concert inside.
