What Kind of Party is This?! Empty Re: What Kind of Party is This?!

Post by Samira Nassar Wed 15 Jul 2020 - 2:31

Oh. My. Goodness. What had Samira gotten herself into now? It was the thought that immediately slapped her the moment she arrived to one of the many locations advertised on the event poster. It was yet another party for the festive crowd of Fiore and beyond. This time planned and put together by the Magic Council itself. What the woman had expected was a normal party event much like the rest she had attended. Well, normal in theory. A festival down in the Cursed Lands or rampaging grilled cheese sandwich monstrosities were far from the typical normal party. But, to be fair, the strange whackiness of past events she had attended were not originally part of the planning process for those festivals and parties. It was just how things progressed. But this. THIS! The party she was now staring at was not what she expected the council itself to throw. It wasn't even anywhere close to her expectations. Sure she might not have attended that many parties in her life, and true she might not have even known all the types of parties out there... maybe she should have done some research first. Or.. paid more attention to the fliers that advertised the event. In truth, she just thought they were highly decorative. Logically thinking that the decor of the poster would actually literally match the decor of the party to such extremes that even the backs of her eyelids sparked with bright neon dots didn't exactly occur until she was standing right there.

There was music, of course. Loud energetic music. Each beat she thought brought her ears closer to being unable to hear much of anything permanently. Those that took their turns at the DJ booth only added more fuel to the fire of music that wasn't going to end anytime soon. Much to the disappointment of one that had entered an area that was typically not her type of scene at all. Samira was immediately uncomfortable. Not just by the music style, but also because of all the glowing paint flying around. The fact it was also dark enough that the area was mostly lit up by the glow in the dark graffiti art on the walls of buildings and blinding neon lights, as well as the glowsticks and glowbands the other party goers had on their person. The fact that she was pretty sure she'd get hit more than once just trying to pass through the crowd that were wildly dancing to the beats of the wild music. The fact that she could not just turn around and leave as a simple escape from the nightmare in front of her. Why? For one very significant reason that she now regretted.

The fool had already invited her friend Leona Jarnefeldt to meet her there. Well, invite was probably too strong a word. Sending a message about the party and the location through the obnoxious Galacticgram was more accurate. Since her fellow Wizard Saint might show, Samira couldn't exactly leave. That would be rude! She would just have to brace herself for Leona's disapproval over such a party. Or, maybe that part at least would turn out fine. Maybe the blonde had a secret wild side and enjoyed dancing to such beats? Or maybe she was secretly a professional DJ as a hobby? The possibilities were endless! Sort of. Truthfully, they all did come with severe doubt that popped any sort of hope balloon Samira had conjured within her mind. In the end, one thing was certain. The teal-haired mage was stuck there until Leona arrived. If she arrived at all. The Wizard Saint of Courage was a busy lady, after all, and had more responsibilities than she did considering she ran a guild. Dropping everything just to attend a party in the street was probably a hard thing to do.

Well, whether she showed or not Samira thought it best that she pick somewhere to comfortably wait. If such a thing existed. She carefully maneuvered around, somehow successfully dodging the dancers that were way too into the music and their sweet awesome moves. Further into the crowd she went, curiously taking notice of the other mini events people were merrily participating in along the way. In time, and through much skill and possibly magic, Samira could sigh in relief. She had reached a safe area! Well actually it was a bar set up, and she wasn't one to drink so all danger alarms should have been going off, but after making her way through that crowd she would take it. There were stools to sit on! Yes, she could wait there for Leona. It was perfect!

Samira swiped one of the stools for herself, of which there were plenty since everyone was too busy dancing, DJing, drumming, or too busy being drunk crazy. A triumphant smile formed on her face. A smile that quickly faded into confusion when the bartender started to talk to her and asked her what she would be having. This was a problem. The Goddess didn't drink. At all. Not only were alcoholic beverages not all that pleasant to smell there was also the point that it heavily messed with the mind in ways she would rather not experience. Why people did it as a social custom was beyond her. And they were serving it there no less! A normal person was one thing, but drunk mages could be even more dangerous and problematic! The woman disapproved. Greatly.

    "I do not-"

    "Here you go!"

What on Earthland?! Samira didn't even get the chance to say that she wasn't interested in any of the drinks there before one was sitting right there in front of her. All she did was blink! Was making alcoholic beverages a type of magic she didn't know about?

The bartender seemed to know exactly the sort of person she was and what was needed to get even her to enjoy the party. The trick was getting someone of her nature to drink it. Which, honestly, wasn't hard at all. The bartender knew how to easily get over that hurdle. "You seem a bit out of your element here so I made that one just for you. Consider it on the house." The bartender smiled, but unfortunately waiting for a response or watching the Goddess drink it was not an option. Someone else had come up to have a drink and needed to be attended to. That left Samira sitting there, staring hard at the new liquid foe that swirled within the glass. She'd give credit where it was due. It was pretty to stare at with its lavender coloring and glowing cyan ice cubes. Presentation wasn't the issue though! It was everything else that was! She wanted to ignore it, let it sit there until it became undrinkable. Forgotten. A total waste of liquid poison in a glass. But! The bartender had gone through the effort to make her one! There wasn't even an expectation of compensation! That was so nice! It'd be rude to ignore it after that! Maybe she could... just sneakily through it in a bush and pretend she drank it. A quick glance around her told her that there were no bushes near her. They planned ahead for this!

Samira stared down at the drink again intensely. There was just one option. Well two if she could find someone else to drink it for her but that might have been too obvious. So it was the other option! She would have to drink it herself! Just that one wouldn't hurt. Usually people that lost their minds had much more than that. One was fine. Yes, just fine. And so Samira quickly drank the created beverage known as Sloth Toddy. When the bartender came back around and noticed the empty glass, a smile appeared on his face. He grabbed one of those fancy organizer stamps and placed it on Samira's hand, stamping it with a glow in the dark image of a smiley face. A face that would match her own after a few minutes more had passed by due to the drink's effects. She'd soon be a happy Samira that was ready to party without a care in the world. Oh. My. Goodness.

    -Rose Garden-

Wearing her green, white, and gold outfit with bike shorts underneath the skirt, Leona had come here to join her old friend Samira Nassar for the "Urban Nights" party in Rose Garden. It was pretty hard to miss the party area because the party area was the entire town of Rose Garden. In between the "Urban Nights" graffiti sprayed on buildings, people wearing rave gear or cyberpunk costumes, the flashing multicolored lights, and the loud electronic music blasting from speakers, not even Leona could miss all the signs indicating that she was in the right place.

Leona had read a flier advertising the event back at Silver Wolf Guild Hall and was surprised that the Magic Council had not only given its blessing to the party, but also planned and organized it in all the cities and towns across Earthland. She had thought that the Magic Council did not have authority over mundane matters, but apparently that governing body had a lot more influence than she realized if all the cities and towns agreed to host the party. Leona did not question it too much, though. It was nice to go to a party that had been so carefully planned and organized.

Leona calmly made her way through the crowd in search of Samira Nassar and weaved around dancing people, drunk people, and dancing drunk people. She passed by a small DJ booth flanked by two subwoofer towers manned by a lanky guy in a white tank top, black carpenter jeans, and black-and-white tennis shoes.  Her right ear started aching from the incredibly loud and bass-heavy music, but that was the least of her problems. She had no clue where the teal-haired mage would even be.

Leona was not too concerned, though. There were only a few people in existence with a magic signature like Samira's and the blonde could use that to track down her friend in the crowd.

    -Fifteen minutes later-

Leona eventually made her way to a bar with pulsing blue lines of light built into the counter and encountered a teal-haired woman with a very strong magic signature standing close by... it was Samira!

"Hey Samira! I'm glad to see you!" Leona greeted the Goddess of Humility, who was looking happier than usual. Leona was about to speak to her friend when the bartender, a young woman with hair in a blonde ponytail and wearing a gleaming suit of black metallic armor with cerulean accents spoke to the Wizard Saint.

"Hey cutie! It looks like you need a really special party drink! Why don'tcha tell me what ingredients ya want and I'll mix it for ya?" The flirtatious young woman offered. Leona panicked because she thought for a moment that she was going to have to mix a drink herself. Considering what had happened with the grilled cheese sandwich at the cooking contest, the blonde mage really did not need to cook or mix anything. Otherwise she would have to explain to the Magic Council and the Rune Knights why Rose Garden had been trashed by a living alcoholic beverage that had grown to the size of a skyscraper or something equally improbable and equally destructive. Leona calmed down when she was presented with some ingredients to choose from.

Leona picked out a cerulean blue alcohol for the base of the custom drink, a silver vodka to mix with it, cyan ice cubes, and a tall glass to mix it in. The bartender obligingly mixed it all in a shaker and three minutes later poured the mixture into the glass, where it fizzed up unexpectedly. It was then presented to Leona, who was worried about what she had just created.

"Here ya go, a... a perfectly good uh, Cerulean Chaser! Yeah, a Cerulean Chaser!" The bartender said. Leona smelled the blue drink and noted that it had a sweet and pleasant scent reminiscent of fruit punch. She took a sip and was pleased with the pleasant fruity flavor of her creation. She was so pleased by the drink that she drank half of the newly dubbed Cerulean Chaser and set the glass down. It immediately sprouted little arms and legs and started dancing in perfect rhythm to some nearby dubstep music.

"What the Hell?" The bartender asked. Leona stared in horror at what she had helped create. It was a dancing drink glass.

    A dancing drink glass.

"Why does this happen to me?" Leona asked whatever deity was listening. She stood up to leave when the drink stopped dancing and jumped onto Leona's skirt, where it then began climbing up towards her chest. Leona yelped in surprise.

"NO! LEAVE ME ALONE!" Leona yelled in frustration. She used her left hand to seize the drink glass and it began to ineffectually swat at her in an effort to break free. She set it back on the counter and it started dancing again. She tried to leave again only for it to jump onto her skirt again and try to climb the front of her outfit, where she seized it with her left hand and held it at arm's length.

"Let me go, you blonde bimbo!" The drink squealed in a high-pitched voice. Leona clenched her teeth. Not only did the drink move about on its own, it could also talk.

"Um, what are ya gonna do with the drink, miss?" The bartender asked while the drink hurled insults about Leona's intelligence and the size of her chest. Leona frowned when she heard the drink insinuate that her breasts were bigger than her brain.

"I'll drink it." Leona answered tersely. She gripped the glass tight and drank the rest of the Cerulean Chaser while the liquid screamed in terror as its all-too-brief life was snuffed out by the Wizard Saint. Weird stuff like this always happened to her. At least the drink tasted good. With the taste of blueberry lingering on her tongue, Leona handed the inanimate glass back to the bartender.

"Please don't tell anyone about this." Leona pleaded. The young woman nodded.

"I won't say a word." The bartender promised.

"Thank you." Leona said just before the bartender produced a stamp and stamped a rainbow smiley face on the back of Leona's left hand. She then smiled.

"Oh, and by the way... your hair's cerulean blue. I think it looks cute on you." The bartender said before turning to serve another customer. Leona turned to Samira and spoke to her companion.

"Ready to go find something fun to do?" Leona asked Samira. The recently turned bluenette just wanted to put the memories of the Cerulean Chaser behind her. She hoped that she would never have to mix another drink again.

What Kind of Party is This?! Empty Re: What Kind of Party is This?!

Post by Samira Nassar Fri 17 Jul 2020 - 16:59

Once the familiar voice and the call of her name reached her ears, Samira spun in her chair to face the source. A very wide grin was on her face, a very abnormal thing to be there. Yes, she generally did smile from time to time, but to grin to such a degree was not something she made a habit of doing. Ever. She didn't care at that moment though. The drink's influence was strong. "Leona!" Samira excitedly cried out while raising her arms in the air triumphantly. The blonde had gotten her message! And now she was there! YAY! What an amazing day it was already! "You got my message! Hi!" Thank goodness she only had one of those Sloth Toddy drinks if she was already acting that uncharacteristic with just one.

But what was this? Someone interrupting their conversation before it could really get started?! Eh. That's okay. It was fiiinnneee. Samira spun back around in her chair so she was facing the bar again. That same grin remained on her face, never once fading. In fact, it only seemed to grow as she watched Leona pick some ingredients for the bartender to mix together for a super amazing custom drink. Oh, how terrific! Leona had been chosen to have something so special. She was so happy for her friend! As the glass magically grew limbs and started to dance, Samira stared at it in amazed awe. Even going as far as to say the "oooo"s and "ahhhhh"s that one had to say by law when they were slapped with the genuinely impressed stick. It was so cool! So cute! So fantastically AMAZING! Leona was so truly gifted with her wondrous ability to create such a thing!

Normally, Samira would have been horrified by the creation. It would have been a reminder of the grilled cheese sandwich that had come to life during the Tricks Abound festival party. That same sandwich then evolving into a living combination of a refrigerator and a sandwich soon after its original created form was tossed inside the kitchen appliance. A dancing cup was surely a bad omen. A warning of the next attack. The Goddess would have destroyed it before allowing it to happen! ...If she was her normal self, that is. In her current state, the dancing cup amused and entertained her. There was no fear, worry, or caution within her. Instead, she started to move and imitate its moves while still sitting in her seat. She was completely distracted that she didn't even notice that the cup had stopped dancing and was instead tormenting Leona by jumping onto her skirt and then climbing up towards her chest. The yelps, the yells, the shouts, all of it was tuned out as Samira kept humming to the music and moving in her chair, still imitating the dance cup that was no longer there. It wasn't until Leona spoke to her again that she snapped out of it.

"Hm?" Samira stopped mid-dance and blinked, quickly taking note of Leona's blue hair. When did that happen? Her verdant gaze shifted to the bar and saw that the dancing cup was no longer there. Clear disappointment was on her face, but it quickly disappeared as her mood immediately brightened up. The drink she had consumed would not allow her to be disappointed! "YES!" Samira bounced off her chair, standing straight and once again raising her arms above her head enthusiastically. "Let us go DANCING!" As soon as she yelled out the suggestion, Samira took off in a run into the crowd, arms still raised and probably looking like some crazed fool. A few seconds later, it dawned on her that she had left her companion behind. Oh, that was not good. She needed a dancing buddy! Or maybe Leona didn't want to dance. She didn't even ask first! Oh, dear.

Samira ran back in the direction of the bar, once again looking like a crazed charging idiot. Once she found the blonde turned bluenette, Samira would stop in front of her, still grinning widely. "You are okay with dancing, correct? We can always do something else." Nothing could really disappoint Samira. There were a few other activities to choose from and all of them sounded absolutely grand! To the influenced Samira. The normal Samira would have been very hesitant to do any of it. What a lucky day it was that the drink chosen for her made her not be a wet blanket for the day. Samira stood there, eagerly waiting for Leona's response so they could get to having some fun.

Leona was just shaking the unpleasant feeling of being climbed on by an animated drink glass when Samira asked if Leona would like to go dancing now. Leona blinked because she was not sure if she had heard the Goddess of Humility right. Samira had said something that gave the blonde pause as she tried to make sense of the question that had been posed.

Samira wanted to go dancing. With Leona. In front of people.

This night kept getting stranger and stranger by the minute. First the custom drink she had a hand in making named the Cerulean Chaser came to life and began dancing. Then when Leona walked away the drink actually grabbed her skirt and began climbing the front of her outfit. When the Wizard Saint grabbed it the Cerulean Chaser began insulting her chest size and her intelligence. Finally Leona decided to dispose of the sassy drink by drinking it and it had turned her hair cerulean blue.

    Now Samira wanted to dance.

Leona put the lesson Samira had indirectly taught her about thinking before she spoke and thought about the request a moment.

On one hand, Leona would look like an utter idiot because she did not know how to dance.

On the other hand, a good deal of the audience would be drunk, so maybe the Wizard Saint of Courage could skate by with a subpar performance if she tried to dance halfway convincingly.

The night was also about fun.

That last fact was the tipping point for Leona.

"Sure, we'll go dancing if you want!" Leona agreed to Samira's request. She would probably feel dumb for trying to dance in front of people, but she felt dumber than a cemetery full of zombies when she first tried to read Ancient Desierto a few weeks ago. If she could make it through reading all 1,200 pages of that doorstopper, then she could dance in front of a crowd. At least in theory.

"I'm ready when you are!" Leona added. She was already starting to get nervous because Wizard Saints were expected to be the best of the best at everything and she did not want to disappoint people by being less than the best. The blonde turned bluenette was no dancer, but tonight she would just have to become one.

What Kind of Party is This?! Empty Re: What Kind of Party is This?!

Post by Samira Nassar Sun 26 Jul 2020 - 7:06

Leona had agreed! They could go dancing! They could join the weird people that moved in rhythm to random wub wubs, beats, and glowing moving colors that somehow did not give anyone seizures yet! Fantastic! "Okay! Let us go! TO THE CENTER!" Staying at the sides or corners of the dance floor to be semi-hidden so there wouldn't be much too much of a focus on them and therefore not much embarrassment? Pssshhh! No. The influenced Samira was having none of that. The center was where they belonged! Surrounded by all the other dancers and lost in the parade of rainbow colored lights. Samira would then go to grab Leona's hand and proceed to drag her along, pushing through the crowd until they reached the center of the dance floor. If Leona had rejected the hand grab, that was fine and the Goddess would still push through the crowd regardless. It was just easier to not lose a dancing buddy in the crowd while holding onto them. Regardless, the woman wouldn't hear any complaints about the chosen dance location over the loud music. Or, maybe she just wasn't really listening. When the drink wore off she was probably going to have to make an apology or two, but for now it didn't even cross her mind. She was going to dance! .... to whatever it was they were listening to. That sort of music wasn't exactly a genre she had particularly listened to thoroughly before.

If she had been allowed to drag Leona along, she would let the newly turned bluenette go. Her eyes scanned around, looking at everyone else, focusing on their movements and trying to study them so she would actually know what to do. Dancing wasn't something she did often. Or ever really. That sort of dancing even less so. "Leona," Samira spoke up to get her friend's attention. "Now that I am here I have to admit that I have no idea what I am doing." She smiled innocently yet awkwardly due to the situation. Good going for her. She had not only put herself at center stage with no idea on what she was doing, but she had dragged Leona along, probably quite literally. The green orbs on her face widened and she gasped, a thought having just passed through her mind and thinking process. "Do you know how to dance? You can teach me! Problem solved!" The woman giggled. Yes! She was a genius! Leona could teach her! Leona probably had professional wub wub dancing as one of her many hobbies.

Well, if the former blonde hadn't taken off running in the other direction yet to escape the awkward dance floor and suggestion of being a dance teacher, things would take yet another turn on the twisting rocky road of awkward situations. Samira would eventually start moving with the music. Slowly, of course, as any newbie would at the first stage of trying to figure out what the hell they were doing. She mimicked the simple movements of those around her as best as she could. It was weird, but it was also fine. Her mind was affected, of course, but she was also with a friend! However, even surrounded by other dancers the two would stand out. They were easy targets for the more competitive dancers that wanted to show off or felt they had something to prove.

Near the dance floor, a pair of twin sisters sat a table, watching the people dance to the music while they themselves drank a couple of those fancy drinks from the bar. There had been a dance off quite earlier in the night, where they chose the wrong opponent. He was a dancing monster and had humiliated them quite easily with his professional moves and tricks. Now they were drinking the embarrassment away while scanning for their next opponents so they could redeem themselves. It didn't take long for them to spot the two weaker dancers near the center of the dance floor. "Hey, Madi! Look at those two over there." One called to her sister while pointing in the direction of both Leona and Samira.

The one called Madi looked over and laughed. "Wow, is this their first time dancing? What a joke. I'd actually feel bad if we challenged them." She waved her arm to shoo away the thought of competing against them. "Find someone else, Addi."

"Aw, come on! Consider it a warm up for something later!" The one called Addi looked again. "Wait a minute." She squinted her eyes and leaned forward to get a better look. "I think I recognize those two." Another few seconds of looking and thinking led her to the conclusion of where she knew them. "Ha! Those two I do recognize. One is Leona Jarnefeldt! I think the other is Samira Nassar. They're part of the Wizard Saints, you know!" Addi gasped and she stood up as excitement took over her. "Do you think any of the others are here too?!" The fanatic twin was about to go into meltdown. She didn't have anything ready to get autographs!

Madi calmly looked over the dance floor again. She rolled her eyes and sighed. "That's not them, you idiot. Leona has blonde hair. Not blue hair. Just because they both start with the same two letters does not mean they are the same thing. As for the other one I doubt she'd be at this kind of scene. I've never gotten the vibe that she is interested in these kind of parties. Those two are clearly imposters or some weird obsessive fans that can't even get those minor details right." Madi stood up and stretched. "But I guess you're right. If they want to play the role of Wizard Saints then I guess I won't feel too bad crushing them." A sly appeared on both of the faces of the twins. Yes, two Wizard Saints were perfect opponents... for a dance off.

Both Leona and Samira would soon be approached by the two twin women. They both looked identical to the extreme. Even the splotches of paint that had gotten on their clothes from other party events were in the same places, were the same color, and even the same size. How that was possible was anyone's guess. Both stood tall in their matching outfits, which consisted of black jeans, black short sleeved v-neck top, black shoes, and a black beret hat that sat on top of their long wavy blonde hair. Why so much black? To make all of their neon colored glowing accessories stand out, of course! Necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, even anklets! They were walking beacons of rainbow lights. "Hey, you two are a part of that famous and powerful wizard group, right?" One asked, though there was not a hint of curiosity in her tone. She was there to challenge, not to ask twenty questions. "How about we have a little fun? You two versus my sister and I in a dance off." Normally the two would have issued the challenge with strong and bold dance moves that challenged their opponents that way instead of words, but the twins had a feeling the two mages wouldn't understand that kind of language. They were too... new. The twins each put a hand on their hips and leaned into it while waiting. "Well?" They both asked in unison.

Samira blinked in both confusion and astonishment. A challenge? In dancing? She wasn't the competitive sort. Her normal self would have refused instantly. There was nothing to prove and she wasn't there to waste her time on that sort of thing. But, normal Samira had checked out a while ago. The woman looked to her companion for a moment before going back to look at the two blonde twins. "Okay!" Challenge had been accepted! Oh, dear. A two on two dance off with her and Leona not having much experience to begin with, much less dancing in unison. It was fine though. Everything was just fiiiinnnneeeee.

Leona blinked. Just what had she gotten herself into by agreeing to dance? She did not know how to dance!

"Um, I don't know how to dance either, to be honest." Leona admitted to Samira. Agreeing to do this was a mistake. A big mistake. She was going to look like an idiot in front of tens of people, possibly hundreds. It was too late now.

Leona would just have to find a way to get through this night without looking too stupid.

That would be easier said than done.

Leona followed Samira to the dance area and stood around awkwardly until Samira started dancing slowly as if trying to figure out what to do. For lack of a better option Leona followed suit. She too took it slow and began to slowly learn dance moves that did not make her look too stupid... maybe she could get through this party after all. That good feeling lasted until a set of twins approached the two Wizard Saints... Leona learned that their names were Addi and Madi and that it was really hard to tell between them since they had the same hair color and hairstyle, same black clothing, even the same neon rainbow accessories.

Leona also listened to them debate whether the bluenette and the teal-haired young woman were really Leona Jarnefeldt and Samira Nassar or not until one of them dismissed the pair as pretenders trying to look like the Wizard Saints, citing Leona's current cerulean hair color and Samira's personality as "proof" that the two were not really Leona Jarnefeldt and Samira Nassar. However, the twins were still up for a dance battle with the mages that had been dismissed as cosplayers dressing up as the venerated Wizard Saints. Leona was not sure what to make of the situation.

On one hand, the Wizard Saint of Courage had no idea how to really dance and was just winging it. On the other hand, she felt indignant and was not going to take being called an imposter lying down. She had gone through too much trouble to prove herself worthy of the great honor of being a Wizard Saint to be just casually dismissed as a fake by some blonde know-it-all. Since challenging the doubting twin to combat to prove her identity was not an option, Leona would just have to settle for the dance battle. She just hoped that she and Samira had learned enough decent moves in a short time to at least pull out a draw, if not somehow eke out a win.

"OK then. We'll have the dance battle!" Leona accepted the challenge put to her by Addi and Madi. Her pride was probably going to get her into a lot of trouble tonight, but she was not going to back down. She and Samira would just have to rise to the occasion.

"Are you ready for this, Samira?" Leona asked her faithful companion.

What Kind of Party is This?! Empty Re: What Kind of Party is This?!

Post by Samira Nassar Fri 31 Jul 2020 - 6:05

Everyone had accepted the challenge. It was time to get started. Sort of. Samira's spirits raised a few eyebrows from where they watched and listened to the current episode of their summoner's life play out as if it were an entertainment show. A dance off? With her amateur moves? Leona wasn't exactly much better so forget her being amazing enough for people to forget about Samira. It was going to be nothing short of humiliating. It was a shame there weren't traps and such on that dance floor. Samira could pull a few moves that way that she wouldn't normally without even thinking about it. The idea crossed their minds in their conversation and had even pitched it to Samira through her mind. They were absolutely shocked that she declined turning the dance floor into some hazardous collective of death traps. It actually was a good idea, but then they remembered Leona. The twins they would like to see fall into a few of them, but there was no guarantee that the Leona could dance her way around that. Maybe if they had things for her to fight instead! Her fighting moves would look like dancing! Once again their idea was shut down with Samira mentally scolding them.

Around that time the twins had stated that they would go first. Not out of consideration for their opponents, but just because they knew if their performance was spectacular then it would be hard to beat, and absolutely humiliating for those two to top it. One of the twins started dancing some basic moves that hit every beat of the music. She stopped in a fancy pose and the other one took over to do the same. Then they both started dancing in unison, mimicking each other's moves perfectly. Had they rehearsed? Well, most likely. It wasn't exactly a fair competition for the two mages who had danced together for barely a few minutes. They would just have to up their game a bit more in ways they knew best. No rules were stated. Maybe they could add a bit of magic flair to their dancing. Their dancing moves could be very basic, but that could easily be forgotten if more was added on. "Leona," Samira quietly called while the twins were busy doing flips and jumps as part of their dance routine. "If you have access to any magic that can add a certain... quality to our part of this activity then I suggest using it. We do not have the type of practice those two have so it would make sense if we spice up our own routine in ways that we know best." Honestly Samira could technically just have a spirit that knew dancing take control and dance their way to the top, but that wasn't what she wanted. That would have been crossing the very thin line between adding simple flair and flat out cheating.

'We're going to need a bit more than flair here, girlie. The music needs a bit of an update. Time to change the tracks to something a little bit more your speed,' one of Samira's spirits said in her mind. A beam of golden light shot from the keyring clipped to her waist and sailed towards where the guest DJ Booth was set up. As the beam hit the ground, the spirit took full form. He was the spirit incarnation of Apollo, who was a god of many things as the myths and tales said, including dance and music. He smiled at the stunned girls and guys that were already standing there. In a world of magic he didn't see why it was so surprising that he appeared in the way he had. Did no one ever teleport their way straight up there before? Odd. "You don't mind if I have a turn at that, do ya?"

"Oh uh... no..." The girl currently holding the headset replied and then handed them over awkwardly.

"Thanks!" Apollo took them and put them over his head. Then a thought occurred to him. He looked over towards one of the Urban Nights party staff and waved to get their attention. "Oh, hey! I'm technically a spirit of one of the dancers down there so this should count as her participating in this event. I'll be taking one of those adorable stamps once I'm done here, k? Great!" He turned away and focused on the DJ Booth instead, rubbing his hands together as he memorized all of the buttons, switches, labels, knobs, and everything else that fancy thing had. "Okay, this should do it." The spirit brought the next track in, which was a bit slower than the previous one that the twins danced to. The beats were more predictable and separated too. He messed around with the settings more, adding his own spin to the track as any creative person would. As a result, the music was at least easier for a pair of newbies to dance to than the super quick and unpredictable pace that flipping experts got satisfaction from.

The twins had finished their own routine, in a dramatic pose even that would have been perfect for anyone with an iLac to take a picture of. Now it was the turn of the mages. Samira felt it best to try and mimic what the twins had done where one danced first and the other danced next before they combined. That would at least allow for both Leona and herself to attempt to memorize each other's moves so they could combine them. She did her part, moving with the beat as best she could and even twirling a bit. The summoner stopped to see if Leona would take over or to see if she had already started. They weren't exactly mind readers so there was a good chance Leona had already tried dancing with her without her noticing. Regardless, as the routine got farther along, Samira tried to match what Leona was doing and trying to also add in her own things for either Leona to copy or for it to compliment what the other mage was doing. It was harder than it should have been really. Throughout the performance, Samira allowed a part of her magic to flow, releasing pretty celestial particles that mixed with the lighting for an effect that only Leona and herself had. Her keys had also left her keyring. They glowed an assortment of colors and were floating and moving with the beats around the two dancers. Naturally they were actually controlled by the spirits connected with the keys, but it still made for an interesting visual. Both additions were simple things. It wasn't exactly necessary to do much more than that even if she had thought about it. At the very least she and Leona had tried, and that was saying something considering what they were trying was a dance off.

What Kind of Party is This?! Empty Re: What Kind of Party is This?!

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt Fri 31 Jul 2020 - 7:18

Leona had felt that she had bitten off more than she could chew, but she was not going to back out after one of the dancers had claimed that she was a blue-haired fake trying to cosplay as Leona Jarnefeldt. Leona watched as the twins performed their intricate dance routine that had had a lot of work and practice put into it. The blonde-turned-bluenette was impressed by their choreography, especially once Addi and Madi finished the dance in a pose that seemed like a challenge for the two "fake" Wizard Saints to bring their best moves. Leona and Samira did their best to pick up the gauntlet.

"I'll find a way to spice up our routine." Leona calmly assured her esteemed companion before the music started.

Once the music started Leona and Samira started off slowly. Leona mimicked her more experienced peer's basic moves and generally tried to follow the flow of the music. She could tell that the audience was not digging such a basic routine, so the blonde tried to think of a way to spice up the routine. She had briefly considered using her magic in a non-offensive way, but unfortunately for the blonde, almost all of her magic was offensive in nature. Then it hit her.

She could use her new Meteor Jump Kick!

Leona did not have to aim it at a living target or at any of the other objects in the area. She could aim it at the ground and still create a memorable visual effect just like Samira was starting to do with her own magic. Samira began spicing things up by letting her magic flow to release beautiful particles. She then went a step further and allowed her keys to float away from her key ring; they began glowing different colors and floated up and down to the beat. Leona did not have anything quite as flashy, but she did have acrobatic abilities... and her Meteor Jump Kick.

Leona began doing stationary back handsprings to build up momentum for the Meteor Jump Kick. She timed each handspring to coincide with a heavy bass beat to build up literal and metaphorical steam for the big finale. The audience was starting to take notice of Leona. It was a good thing she was wearing bike shorts under her skirt because otherwise the audience would get more than they bargained for.

Leona did about five stationary back handsprings in total before landing the last, crouching, and leaping straight up into the air about three meters. She then heard the buildup to the bass drop and hoped that she had timed this right. Leona took a quick breath and aimed for the ground a meter away from the twin dancers. She then angled her right leg diagonally downward and performed the Meteor Jump Kick. The Wizard Saint's body exuded a silver aura that lasted all the way to the ground.

Leona's Meteor Jump Kick had connected with the ground just as the bass drop hit. The audience exploded in applause and Leona did a recovery roll on her right shoulder into a standing position half a meter away from the challenging twins. The jaw of one of the twins had dropped so low that her sister might have to pick it up. Leona smiled widely in response.

If that trick did not give them the win, it was certain to at least earn Leona and Samira a draw.

Leona then performed a few more back handsprings until she nearly reached Samira's side. Once she had completed the last one that put her at Samira's side Leona landed and immediately dropped into a split at the exact moment the music ended. Leona and Samira had done the best the could. Now the audience would decide who had won the dance off.

The dance off concluded. Both mages had done what they could to add their own spin on the routine even if they were just making it up as they went along. Leona's part was quite impressive to the summoner. Now where had she been hiding those moves the whole time they were trying to dance before those twins approached them? She must have been saving them, or maybe she just didn't want to make Samira feel completely horrible by comparison. That was fair. How kind of her! All the while Samira was unaware that Leona's true motivation was that she wanted to prove that she was not a weird cosplayer. Samira wasn't as phased by that misunderstanding as the former blonde was. Either way, it still helped them win more favor and applause from the crowd that had stopped to spectate the activity. Unfortunately it didn't come up as a full win. It was a draw. The twins might have not had the flashiness of magic visual effects during their routine, but they were extremely coordinated and even more acrobatic than Leona. Maybe if Samira had joined in with her own acrobatics it would have pushed them to victory. Still, the tie was enough for Samira. It was a satisfactory result considering their experience. If they could pull that off that day, one could only imagine what kind of show they would do the next time a dance party happened if they practiced and prepared.

The twins couldn't believe it. Had they just technically lost to a pair of Wizard Saint wannabes? They certainly didn't win. They scoffed and flipped their hair with way too much style and attitude. "Whatever. We went easy on you." One had said, clearly a sore loser even if technically the two hadn't lost the competition either.
    "Totally easy."
    "We'll win next time."
    "Totally next time."
The rudest one turned away and started to leave, making her way off the dance floor to get herself another drink. After losing two dance offs she certainly wasn't leaving that party sober. The twin sister that remained watched her go for a moment and then looked at the two mages once her sister was far enough away. Out of her pockets came a pen and a small notebook that was bent and a little worse for wear. "I don't have anything fancy for you to sign so this will have to do. Can I have your autographs? I'm a huge fan!" Well, if one of the sisters didn't believe they were the real versions of Samira and Leona the other one surely did. That or she just wasn't too sure and was getting those signatures just in case. Now if only she could find the rest of the famous mage line up.
"Addi, get over here!" The twin that had left shouted impatiently.
Addi groaned and rolled her eyes. "Arrggghhh! Fiiiinnneee!" Even if she was frustrated with her sister it just quickly rolled off her shoulders and she kept a smile for the two mages before her. "I'll come find you two later once she's passed out. It shouldn't take TOO long. Byyyeeee!" The girl waved goodbye as she ran off to join her sibling.

"Hmmm," Samira blinked and watched the girl run off with little expression. She wasn't really used to the whole autograph thing. Being around others that typically had that same request she was used to, but not necessarily for herself. The drink's effects might have also started to wear off by that point. She felt as if she would have been more ecstatic about it otherwise. "Well, that is something to look forward to for later, I suppose," she told her companion, although she was aware of the possibility that both Leona and herself would be gone well before that Addi girl ever found them again. "The dance off has concluded. I think that is a sufficient amount of dancing for now, though. I do not want there to be another round of challengers if that is common here. Had I known that we would be targets I would not have suggested it." And that was with them being horrible at the whole dancing thing. Now they were one of the many "champions" of the dance floor that night. They needed to get out of there before someone wanted to challenge them for their imaginary dance title! "Is there anything in particular you want to do instead?" It was only fair. She had chosen dancing so now it was Leona's turn to suggest something.

Leona had wanted to win in order to put the snide sibling in her place, but considering that she could not really dance, she was more than happy to accept a draw. At least the snide sibling did not get to brag about beating the "Wizard Saint wannabes" who she had insulted earlier. Leona took a measure of satisfaction in that, but she was glad that the dance off was over. She did not want to get into another one any time soon.

While the snide sibling stomped off after the loss, the more polite sibling stayed behind to request an autograph from Leona and Samira. The more polite of the two sisters obviously believed that Leona and Samira were the real thing if she was requesting an autograph. Mindful of the public relations opportunity and feeling that she had proven to the snide blonde to never label someone a fake right away, Leona would be glad to give an autograph. However, the other blonde had "requested" her sister's presence, so the nice one had to go for the time being but would find them as soon as her rude sibling had passed out.

"OK. I'll be here." Leona said to the nice blonde before she had to go. Leona watched her hurry off, then turned to her Goddess of Ishgar colleague with something of a smile on her face. She was taking way too much pleasure from the draw and should not exult in it since Wizard Saints were supposed to be moral exemplars, but she was just glad that the rude dancer could not gloat over beating the "fake Wizard Saints." Now she was having to eat  crow since a pair of "fakes" danced them to a draw despite having virtually no dancing knowledge and having no time to prepare other than the brief interval before the Wizard Saints were set to dance.

"I have no idea what I want to do next, Samira. I don't want another drink and I don't want to get into another dance battle." Leona said simply. She recalled the Cerulean Chaser she had helped create and shuddered when the glass filled with the blue drink had come to life and danced in front of her before trying to climb up the front of her outfit when she tried to leave. In addition to it actively following her when she tried to leave, the taste of the drink had also lingered on her tongue ever since she had consumed it, making the name "Cerulean Chaser" accurate in more ways than one.

"What would you like to do next?" Leona asked Samira.
