"A curious thing, indeed, these Lacrima ... are they not? They themselves are objects of quite paradoxical nature. A Lacrima, of course, is, in essence, a crystallized form of magic. The physical form of magical power. That much knows every child, naturally. That's the catch, though. The people of Earthland are so accustomed to these things that they will barely ask themselves the important questions. It is widely accepted that magic stems from our very nature, and is different from person to person. Some even go as far as calling it the manifestation of the soul. It could very well be the case, but no testing has been done to prove such a wild claim, so I will disregard the validity of such statements in the context of this note. Let us, however, assume that this thought is true. The physical manifestation of magic, which in and of itself is the very essence of a being, would imply that each and every single Lacrima that exists contains a spark, a portion of a soul, or even a soul in its entirety. Some of them, at least. Theoretically speaking, of course. Does that mean, though, that a Lacrima, like a soul, is capable of sentience? Emotion? Thoughts, wishes, dreams, hope, good, or evil? It's quite the assumption, but it could, no, it would explain where these things get their energy from.
Ah, yes, this nothing but my ramblings, theories, if anything, though ... this is why I am writing this journal. My research has been, not to praise myself too much, rather fruitful, and I have finally managed to fix the persistent overheating-problem in the mechanism. With that little flaw of spontaneous auto-combustion out of the way, there is nothing stopping the finalization of the device. All that is left to do is the integration of a Lacrima. If functional, it will be able to effortlessly extract a Lacrima's magical power in its entirety without any loss of energy or without the need for a magus as a medium.
Think about it. The potential to store and release boundless amounts of energy, the potential to construct truly monumental machines, running for eternity, powered by nothing but a tiny splinter of a crystal. I could go on and on, but the potential, as you can imagine, is almost endless. This could revolutionize both energy and society as we know it. It seems like this part of my research has already been widely recognized ... for better or for worse. Bellum has made me an offer to work for them. They want me to, forgive my expression, bastardize this system, my system, and construct the prototype for a new weapon. Fools. Of course, the device needs to be paired with a sufficiently powerful Lacrima, and the possible applications are, indeed, broad, but I am determined to use this research for the good of humanity. Only the narrowest of minds would think to pervert this potential for no other purpose than warfare! With this, we could-"
The note seems to end there abruptly, a few splashes of what almost appears like dry red staining the page.
Name: Lacrima Aura
Rank: User Rank Advanced (Up to H+)
Description: As the sword is combined with a Slayer Lacrima, it possesses the special ability to manifest the inherent Slayer Magic of the crystallized magic used within in an aura around the blade to enhance its destructive capabilities. This ability can be toggled on and off at the user's desire. Once activated, it will coat the sword in one or more of the elements associated with the Slayer Lacrima, every strike made with the weapon, in addition to its melee damage, dealing User Rank Advanced Multi Target Damage. Both the weapon's melee damage and the MT damage are added together, being treated as the same ability, benefitting from increases to Spell Damage. The range, however, is limited to melee range, and every strike is delivered at the user's own movement speed. Further, this MT damage can pierce any shield, even those with anti-piercing qualities, sacrificing only 25% of its base damage when used to pierce a shield, barrier, or wall. Lastly, when the elemental aura is activated, the user receives a passive 250% buff to their Spell Damage.
Name: Lacrima Force
Description: The control over the Slayer Lacrima embedded in a weapon, in limits, gives this weapon and the user Slayer-like qualities. Like a Slayer, this blade can absorb spells and abilities of the same element or elements as those a Slayer using the Lacrima could absorb. Much like a Slayer, the wielder of the blade will regain MP when a spell or ability is absorbed, following the rules for Slayer consumption of the associated elements and Slayer type or types. The blade, however, cannot absorb naturally occurring elements as Slayers can, and neither the user nor the sword benefits from a Slayer's damage reductions. Further, the user also has access to a unique Force mechanic called Lacrima Force while wielding this blade. Lacrima Force, in essence, functions like Third Gen Slayer Force for the associated Lacrima, enabling the user to enter force at will while wielding the Lacrima Sword as well as enjoy the following benefits:
- Increases the user's Strength, Speed, and Spell Damage by 100% while Lacrima Force is active.
- While Lacrima Force is active, both the sword and the user are surrounded by an aura of the Lacrima's associated element/s, increasing either their base spell damage or their base melee damage by 50%. This increase is separate from other base increases and can apply independently of the cap imposed on base increases.
- While Lacrima Force is active spells cost no MP to cast.
- To Maintain Lacrima Force the user must spend 10% of their maximum total MP per post. MP cannot be regained or regenerated while Lacrima Force is active. Once the user of Lacrima Force hits 0 MP or once they choose to cancel it, Lacrima Force ends. If one hits 0 MP through the use of Force they suffer from the consequences of running out of MP as normal.
Name: Lacrima Void
Rank: S (Unlocks at S Rank)
Type: Single Target
Range: 400 m
Speed: 400 m/s
Downside: User must sacrifice 50% of their maximum HP upon activation of this ability. If the ability misses, it will immediately enter a 3 post cooldown period. Once the ability runs out or is cancelled, it enters a 5 post cooldown period before it may be used again. Can only be activated if the user has more than 50% of their total maximum HP left.
Description: With a swing of the blade, the user can unleash a single projectile or visible wave of the element or elements associated with the integrated Slayer Lacrima at a single target within the ability's range. This ability cannot be recast once per post when used like other abilities or spells, and should the initial attack miss, this ability will enter a cooldown as specified in the downside. If the target is hit, however, they will suffer from a negative effect akin to an arcane shock as the magic is briefly and forcefully assimilated into their system, overloading their magical system and causing it to slowly break down. This inflicts a drain on the target which will burn away 5% of the target's maximum total MP once per post for the duration of this ability. If this ability affects a target, it cannot be reused until its duration runs out or it is cancelled and the cooldown runs out. For the duration of this ability, while the target is affected, they are unable to regenerate their MP by any means until the ability ends. This ability cannot be negated by any means, and will continue to affect the target hit by it until the duration of the ability runs out or the ability is cancelled.
Name: Berserkir's Blade
Category: Offensive, Defensive
Type: Burst, Buff, Mobility, Teleport
Damage: 315 HP
Durability: 420 HP
Range: 250 m
Speed: 600 m/s
Downside: Sacrificing 50% range for 50% additional speed. Must pay 105 MP and 105 HP when activating this ability for 50% more damage and 50% stronger buff
Description: Twisting the blade, the user can manifest an aura of pure emotion originating from the Lacrima contained in the blade around the weapon, which will expand to cover their form. The emotion itself is dependent on the user's emotional state when activating the ability, as will be the corresponding appearance of the aura. This aura acts as a defensive shield that can take up to 420 HP in damage before breaking, restoring its durability to full once per post for the ability's duration as it is recast. As soon as this ability is activated, the user receives a 172% buff to spell speed for the duration of the ability. Further, while this ability is active, the user can, once per post for its duration, utilize the energies of the aura to propel themselves in a given direction at the ability's speed up to the ability's maximum range. Should the user encounter an opponent in the path of the movement burst they can unleash a devastating strike with the aura-covered blade at the target at the ability's speed, moving past them or coming to a halt at any point during the ability's remaining range, should there be any, dealing the ability's damage to the target if they are hit. Additionally, the user can once per post use the same power to instantly teleport to anywhere within a radius of the ability's range around their current position. If an opponent is within melee range when the user appears, and the damaging component of the ability has not yet been used in the same post, the user can unleash the same strike they would when using the movement burst at the ability's speed, dealing the same damage.
Name: Infinite Contrast
Type: Single Target, Buff, Negation, Reflection, Redirection, Copy
Downside: Sacrificing range and speed for 50% stronger buff
Description: Drawing power from the Lacrima embedded within the sword, the user increases their own spell range by 172% for the duration of the ability. As long as this ability is active, the user is granted control over two more aspects of this lacrima: Pure black and pure white, both representing not just different contrasts, but each in their own right constituting their own blank slate, their own endless infinity. These two aspects can be manifested at the tip of the blade, forming perfectly circular manifestations, several feet in diameter (though they are quite malleable and can expand and contract within the user's most immediate vicinity according to the spell or ability they seek to affect as well as the user's whim), which almost resemble tinted mirrors, of pure black, a substance that seems to swallow all light, and pure white, a substance that seems to reflect all light.
In essence, these two different manifestations can be used for their respective inherent properties. Black can be used to, once per post, negate an incoming spell or ability that affects or would otherwise affect the user, the dark contrast seemingly drawing the affected spell or ability in until nothing of it remains. This only works if the spell or ability makes contact with the black substance at the sword's point, and spells or abilities are only negated if they are H+ Ranked or lower and the user pays MP equal to the original cost it took to produce the spell or ability in question. Further, black can also be used to, once per post for the abilities duration, copy a single spell or ability the user has seen in the same thread, drawing upon the aspect of black that represents the endlessness of creation. The spell or ability must be of H+ Rank or lower in order to be copied, and the user must pay the equivalent MP cost of the spell or ability in order to successfully copy it, the black contrast of the sword shifting in order to recreate the spell or ability in question, though the copied spell or ability will appear as a completely black version of its original.
White, on the other hand, can be used according to its own strengths. Once per post for the ability's duration, the white manifestation of contrast can redirect an incoming spell or ability that would affect the user into a random direction (though never at another player target) and thus neutralize it, the spell or ability in question seemingly ricochetting off the substance. This only works on spells of H+ Rank or lower, and only if both physical contact with the manifestation of white is made and the user pays the original MP cost of the spell or ability being redirected. Lastly, the pure white can also be used to reflect a spell or ability back at an original attacker once per post for the ability's duration should it be contacted by this same spell or ability. Similarly to the previous effects, only spells of H+ Rank or lower may be reflected back through the use of this effect, though the user must pay double of the MP cost it took to produce the spell or ability being reflected in order to do so.
Name: Twilight Cloak
Type: Single Target, Buff
Durability: 810 HP
Downside: Sacrificing 2 effects for 50% stronger buff. Sacrificing range and speed for 50% more durability
Description: With a small burst of both light and shadow, this ability is activated, a subtle glow of both bright and dark hues covering the weapon and user. This light acts as a shield around their form, protecting them from up to 810 HP of incoming damage before breaking, restoring its durability to full once per post for the ability's duration as it is recast. As long as the ability remains active, the user gains a 157% increase to spell damage.
