Johann's brows inched closer together ever-so-slightly as his eyes followed the trail of red into the ruin of a burned-out husk of what had once been a home, a shelter for one, if not more of the people that used to inhabit this village. His carmine eyes would leave the ground, wandering over the rest of the houses, strings of dark grey smoke still rising from the remains of some abodes. Those that hadn't been taken by the fire had been practically torn apart from the inside out. Not to mention the stains of crimson smears that seemed to cover most of what remained, and, of course, the more than obvious claw marks that had engraved the story of what had occurred here over the last night, the thick, metallic stench of blood lingering in the cool morning air. The sun had barely begun to rise, but the silver-haired man had been too late nonetheless. He had heard of the reports concerning werewolves in the Cursed Lands, though that they would behave like this, that they would form a pack, lash out, and, as it was so painfully evident, massacre an entire village ... it had been a fact most unexpected. Johann, one of the two Ambassador's of Dies Irae, had been involved in paperwork, as it so often tended to be the case, when the report had come in, and despite a rather rushed journey in the form of a teleportation spell, it hadn't changed the fact, nor would it change the fact that, once again, he had been too late. Too late to help these people, too late to save them from this terrible fate.

The Ambassador took a deep breath, trying to calm the turmoil of anger that seemed to pulse through his chest with every subtle beat of his heart. His anger, as it was more often than not the case, was centered inwards. It was, unfortunately, part of the job, but ... that didn't make the job any easier. He'd borne witness to sights like this one too many times. It was the reason he wanted to change the world.

"Are you really getting all sentimental, my little vessel?", the echoing voice of Mars, the Nephilim of half-demonic and half-divine origin he shared his body with would ring out in the back of his mind, his comment accompanied by a low cackle. "You should be used to this by now. It is the sight of a battlefield, after all, something you know I am oh-so-fond of, tssehehe ...". Johann remained silent at first, but would eventually shake his head. "I don't think this is a sight I will ever get used to". "So, what do you intend to do about it, then?", the Nephilim would reply immediately, losing not a second in his attempt to playfully taunt his host.

Johann opened his mouth, exhaling sharply, responding to the Lord of War with a whisper rather than the usual telepathic communication. "I might be too late, but whatever beasts did this cannot be far away". His eyes would briefly remain on a still-smoldering ruin. "I will find them and I will wipe this infestation out. It's the least I can do for the villagers". "And you will do so how exactly?", Mars asked, though already anticipating the answer to his inquiry. The Ambassador turned, the fabric of the heavy, black cloak around his shoulders that constituted part of his onyx-colored uniform shifting with the momentum of his motion. "Why, we'll just have to trust your instincts, of course. Unless that is too tough a challenge for the Second Seal?". Mars would simply growl in response. That would conclude their little banterous exchange. For now, Johann's enhanced sense of smell would follow the distinct scent of beast that had been prevalent in the village, guiding him away from the ruins and deeper into the Cursed Lands.

Werewolf Hunt (Job w/ Shion) Empty Re: Werewolf Hunt (Job w/ Shion)

Post by Mamiko Tsubaki 6th April 2020, 7:21 pm

Shion huffed, eyes narrowing at the carnage before her. The blood looked...disturbingly fresh. Of course, she'd been near the area, but...there was still something about it that made the hair on the back of her neck stand up. She wasn't really all powerful, having not improved much since Polonium left her. There wasn't really a way to improve, after all. He was----

The invading thoughts were cut out. There was no time to be sentimental on a job, after all. Granted, she'd never actually gone on a job before, working at a tavern to try and control her power better (one wrong move, and a whole shit ton of people died; her poison was very potent), but it was best to think like Polonium-----

She glanced at the village again, noting the grey tendrils of smoke swirling across the sky. She fingered her scarf, thinking. If there was smoke, then all of this was definitely recent. She could see the places where the flame still lingered, bright glowing embers in the darkness of the sunrise. She blinked at the sight of a body, blood still oozing out in tendrils. She swallowed harshly; it wasn't her first dead body, but she was still disgusted. Her eyes followed the desecrated homes, rows upon rows. Dead bodies, fresh. Blood, not dried enough to have stopped dripping. The job flyer crumpled and shredded in her hand, long nails (she'd have to cut them later) digging into her palm. The pain grounded her, reminded her that this was why she needed for the world to change.

Killing and violence only brought upon more violence, more blood and death. Her breath quickened as she caught sight of claw gouges.

    Werewolves.

    People.

Did they really deserve to die? Did they really deserve to have their hearts ripped out of their still beating chests?

The wind shifted, bringing with it the scent of blood, death, rotting flesh oh god-----
And the smell of something not quiet human. It was the scent of a mage.

Shion snarled to herself as she approached the guy (or was it a woman?), knowing that if he was as powerful as he smelled that there was no way to fight him. The best option was to accept his leadership. Just the thought of bowing to someone made her grimace, but it had to be done. The werewolves were going to die, at her hands. She heaved a sigh, taking a deep breath, and----

Of course, the stench of blood invaded her nostrils, the iron scent making her gag. It sent her on a roller coaster of thoughts, most of them starting with I lost control, no no no.
Harsh whispers broke her from her reverie, and she almost stopped, before linking the sound to the scent.

Shion stumbled across him whispering to himself, and something in her feared. It was a bone deep fear that made her automatically release strychnine from her palms. She unconsciously bared her teeth, an instinct that Polonium had beat into her.

The man was looking out over the ruins now, and Shion made her steps loud as she approached his back. Clumsy, almost, even though clumsiness was weak. She froze in anticipation for the man to turn around and see her, if he did. The stench of Botulinum toxin and VX clinging to her skin. They were very potent poisons, and could kill you instantly. Of course, they weren't actually there; she'd just made herself smell like them. It wouldn't kill anyone, although it would probably give them a bad headache if they had a normal sense of smell. She'd made it specifically for the werewolves.

Botulinum toxin caused difficulty swallowing or speaking, a dry mouth, facial weakness on both sides of the face, blurred or double vision, drooping eyelids, trouble breathing, nausea, vomiting, paralysis, and abdominal cramps. The smell didn't do nearly as much, but it was pretty bad. It would make anything with a good sense of smell shy away from her.

She could wash it off, but it'd taken so much effort she didn't know if she wanted to. Of course, if this man was on the same job as her, she might have to. She sighed tiredly before the wind picked up again (when had it dropped off?), and the stench of danger permeated her senses. She shifted her stance, a growl rumbling up from her throat, pupils dilating into thin slits, like a cat, or a dragon. Her hand came up in front of her defensively, and her legs shifted farther apart to brace herself for him attacking her, but angled just right for her to flee at a moment's notice.

"Who the fuck are you?" she rasped, years of not talking leaving to hard to communicate in something that wasn't draconic.

It seemed like the decision to pursue the trail had to be put on hold for just a little while longer. The first thing Johann would perceive was the subtle crunch of steps on the wet dirt, his head instinctively turning towards the source of the sounds, at once laying eyes on the one that had produced them in the first place: A girl. Azure hair hung from her shoulders, her expression appearing somewhat aggressive. She appeared to be in her late teens, though that was, at current, the least of his acute worries. As soon as he had laid his gaze on her, or perhaps even before that, her stance would shift, Johann's eyes widening somewhat. Was she a survivor of this village? That would be a miracle. It would explain why she seemed less than excited to run into another person. The Ambassador of Dies Irae put his hands up, hopefully showing her that he meant her no harm, even as she barked out her words in a manner that equated to anything but a friendly greeting. Johann, though, understood, remaining completely still, and, somewhat contradicting the tense situation he suddenly found himself in, would display a friendly smile that curled up one corner of his mouth.

"Please, do not worry, I am not here to hurt you", he explained calmly in a manner that, as he hoped, would convey his intent clearly. "My name is Joh", he would use the nickname some of his friends gave him, thinking that it would be less of a mouthful compared to "Johann von Weiss".

He paused for a second, thinking about his choice of words carefully. The last thing he wanted to do was have to knock out a teenage girl, especially if she was indeed one of the surviving people of this village and had just seen her friends, family, and peers perish at the hand of unholy beasts. He would do his best to help her, though, to do that, he would have to make clear to her that he was no threat, and indeed, not part of the group that had been responsible for this horrible massacre. "I'm a guild mage", he would begin simply, slowly lowering his arms. "I've been notified of an attack on this village and have hurried here as quickly as I could. It seems that I was too late ...". The Ambassador's expression remained steady, though his tone would show the slightest hint of the sense of guilt that overcame him. "Did you ... are you one of the people of this village?", the silver-haired man had begun, however, changing his approach mid-sentence. Asking her if she'd witnessed the slaughter was far from sensitive if she actually had, not to mention the fact that she was probably traumatized. He decided to try and ease the tensions instead. "What's your name?".

It was only now that Johann took a breath, a scent that had previously been masked by the direction of the wind and the everpresent stench of blood caught in his nose. To say that it was unlike anything Johann had ever smelled before would have been an understatement. It was quite unpleasant, admittedly, though his artificial body, and the magic inherent to this vessel, would spring into action immediately, dispersing any feeling of unease or sickness in an instant through the powerful effects of reversal, or perhaps more accurately, negative energy. A mysterious force that represented a concept, something even the Ambassador had no firm grasp on, though would come with the magical abilities of the Nephilim of War locked within, the entity the Ambassador had to thank for all of his inherent magic. Indeed, the silver-haired man seemed unfazed by the smell, at least outwardly, continuing to, very slowly, but steadily, lower his hands, before stretching his right one forward, the guild symbol of Dies Irae clearly visible on the limb. Of course, he wasn't sure if she'd even believe him, or even had any interest in cooperating with him. He would respect that, of course, though if she decided to attack him, he would be forced to defend himself. A circumstance he would rather avoid.

Werewolf Hunt (Job w/ Shion) Empty Re: Werewolf Hunt (Job w/ Shion)

Post by Mamiko Tsubaki 7th April 2020, 12:46 pm

Then first thing Shion did was stop baring her teeth. Then, Shion blinked at him, his smile unnerving her, just slightly. Smiles were...rare, you could say. He was so calm in, even surrounded by death and carnage, and she shifted back slightly as he raised his hands. He started explaining who he was, ("Joh" was an unusual name, but who was she to judge?) and that he wasn't here to hurt her. She suppressed a snort at that; sure, of course he wasn't.

He lowered his arms, saying that he was a guild mage, and here to eradicate the werewolves. Shion tensed slightly, knowing that if he didn't agree to cooperate with her, then she had no option than race him to get rid of the werewolves first. God knows she can't fight him; just his smell made her want to flee.

She ignored the hints of guilt in his tone, pushing back a sneer when he asked if she was a survivor of the village. If she was, then it would've made her break down crying. Shion did that enough already, and she felt a knot at the back of her throat. Thoughts rushed through her head in frantic draconic as she hissed "Not now!". She wouldn't---couldn't---show weakness. As it was, she almost took a step back. The word survivor sent a shiver through her, the one word Polonium had repeated that she was over and over and over.

She had a very physical reaction to his words, a low growl rumbling at the back of her throat (the tavern keeper had always said that she was more monster than person). She felt herself reach for her scarf, ready to stash it somewhere where enemies wouldn't be able to use it against her.

"Shion," she tried to say, but the words got caught in her throat and came out a harsh whimper. "I'm---my name is Shion," she tried again, louder. The words came out easier now. Smoother. Less like she was about to snap his head off. Shion shifted again, legs coming closer together and relaxing her muscles, which had previously been taught. She'd felt high strung, like she was about to snap at any moment. The string was less looser, now.

She took a deep breath, relishing the smell of VX and Botulinum Toxin. It'd been a fight to not immediately rush him when she'd first smelled him, but she was grateful for it now. He'd taken a deep inhale (she could hear him do it, which was impressive. Did he really have to breathe that loudly?) and hadn't had any reaction her deadly perfume, which impressed the mental image of strong in her mind.

"I'm not a survivor of the village, though if I was I would've broken down. I'm here on the same job as you, Dies Irae man," she said as clearly as possible. "I'm a guildless wizard that specializes in toxins."

She wiped her hand on her clothes, the bluish-purple color of strychnine barely showing up, but still there. Then Shion stuck her hand out, consciously repressing the poison.

"Seems we're gonna be workin' together. Pleasure to meet you, person who's name is probably not Joh."

Her words were rough, sharp. She'd picked up this land's native language (What was it called again?) from the tavern, filled with swearing and roaring laughter. Shion usually spoke in a way that could put nobles to shame, but it wasn't like she'd had classes.

She cursed internally, knowing that she'd probably have to say big words in definitely not draconic. Ah, well. He'd better be good at charades. If he wasn't, then it was going to be a long and awkward job.

Then again, maybe all jobs were like that; what did she know?

After all, Shion was just a worthless, monstrous teenager that was horrible at any language that wasn't draconic.

Werewolf Hunt (Job w/ Shion) HOtaKzb

At first, the girl's rather animalistic growl and hisses didn't induce a feeling of hopefulness within the silver-haired God of Ishgar. Perhaps it would be best to simply leave her be, turn around, vanish, so to speak, and pursue the mission he had come here for in the first place. Though, if she was really the only survivor, that would've been a quite cruel act, at least, that was the thought occurring to Johann.

That was, of course, until the girl's raspy voice would ring out once again, Johann tilting his head slightly at the mention of a single word, the girl repeating herself, though this time clearly. So she did speak, after all. It was somewhat easing the tense situation, her stance shifting along with her words, Johann smiling still. "Shion", he would nod, "It's nice to meet you". At least, with that, he assumed that mutual understanding was not out of the question. He had to hold back from breathing a quiet sigh of relief.

That was not all, though. Shion, as she had called herself, would continue to detail that she was, in fact, not a survivor of this attack. It was simultaneously uplifting and depressing. So none had survived in the end? What a tragedy. Either way, she also explained that, much like him, she was a mage who had come here to pursue a job contract, even if the title "Dies Irae man" was somewhat inappropriate. Johann wasn't one for titles, anyway, solemnly ignoring that nickname. "I see", he began anew, lowering his head in a symbolic bow. "Forgive me for my assumption". The man looked back up at her, his eyes, this time, examining a little closer now that he could afford to allow himself the moment to do such. She didn't seem especially extraordinary in a dangerous sense. At least, not outwardly, apart from her feral nature. It would probably be warranted to trust her words. Joh nodded. "If we have come here to pursue the same goals, then I guarantee you my unconditional assistance, Shion. I don't need a reward, either. I've come here to help people, so I'll pass on Jewels". His head would turn slightly as if to beckon the girl to follow him into the direction he had previously taken, though he would return to stillness just a moment after, as if suddenly remembering something.

"Ah, yes, Joh, that's a nickname, my apologies. I am Johann von Weiss, Ambassador of Dies Irae. To fruitful cooperation", the silver-haired mage, with those words, reaching out and shaking her hand. It was strange. Her touch seemed to almost numb his skin for a few passing moments before it faded. What an interesting quirk. "Now then, I think the beasts that did this have left in this direction, and not too long ago, as well", Joh would raise an arm, pointing into the nearby woods not too far off. "Care to join me on the hunt?".

Shion bristled at the insinuation that she needed jewels, irked at the idea she needed help. Then she realized she did need the jewels, no matter how much she tried to deny it. After all, the horribly small amount of jewels in her pocket proved it. She unconsciously shifted to her hand over her scarf, seeking comfort. After this job, she'd never accept help again. She would not be weak. She couldn't afford to be weak.

When he introduced himself as Johann van Weiss, her first thought was Fancy, probably rich, is he carrying money on him...? she quickly shook herself of the thought though, instead giving the tiniest nod of acknowledgement she could. When he called the werewolves beasts, she almost snapped at him. After all, Shion herself was more beast than man. So instead, when he finished his...spiel, she corrected him.

Her voice was as soft as she could make it, which wasn't very soft. Imagine someone who usually glares at people maybe just...staring intensely at them instead. Her voice was like the scrape of stone on stone, and as cold as the winters on the mountains she'd lived in as a child.

"People," she corrected. "Those werewolves are people who've...who've made bad choices. And...yeah, I will,"

Maybe Shion was trying to convince herself as well, with how fucking sad and weak her voice is. She internally threw herself off of a building. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? the voice that narrated her life roared. The voices came rushing back, faster, faster, faster-----

She shook them off. There was no time to be sentimental, not when people's lives were at stake. Professionalism, she reminded herself. She was having a breakdown while people were losing their lives. With that out of the way, she started toward the forest Johann had pointed to, giving short sentences on herself so that she didn't have to talk later.

"Yes, my name is like the flower. My last name is Hoshizora, I'm fifteen, I work with poison, as in touch and releasing gasses from my pores, the reason I don't wear gloves is 'cuz I don't have enough jewel, and I have a scar that goes from the middle of my right eyebrow to just below my right eye cuz I do. I'm also bad at...language. I learned it from a tavern in the middle of the woods, lotsa cursin' and sh-stuff. I'm also sorta...feral." the scarf around her neck started to feel stifling, but she didn't dare dislodge it for fear that he would see the scar. Most people started to avoid her after that, and she knew what they said.

    Suicide attempt.

She gritted her teeth just thinking about it, another raspy, low growl rising from her throat. They knew nothing about her. By this time, the sun had raised just above the trees of the forest, golden rays shining across the grass underneath her feet and making the dew there shine like pearls. The morning fog blocked her vision slightly, making her just know this was going to be a hard job. It was something deep in her bones, even though this was her first job (the passport one didn't count). Of course, she could be wrong.

Shion was thinking so deeply she walked headfirst into a tree. She fell backwards, into her ass. A stream of curses, a mix of draconic and whatever-the-fuck-this-language-is-called flew from her mouth. As revenge, she let her fingers gently touch the bark, letting all her repressed rage come in the form of Laetiporus sulphureus, which caused the tree to start rotting immediately. It died within a matter of minutes, the natural process overridden from the power of rot and decay.

Shion smiled to herself, before realizing that Johann may have seen the entire fucking thing.

    Shit.
The poisons and stuff may not be accurate, do not use this as a source for shit

Werewolf Hunt (Job w/ Shion) HOtaKzb

Johann silently raised an eyebrow when the girl spoke up in apparent disagreement with his choice of words. Johann's expression remained open, welcoming, though the look in his eyes momentarily shifted to something very obviously sterner than he gave himself. To him, the things that had done this were no longer people, even if they were human. A person couldn't commit such an act of bloodshed without remorse or second thought. Even the women and children had been ... no, whatever had done this had sacrificed their personhood. He reminisced about old times for a moment. His parents had died in a similar way. To put this down to bad choice, the man couldn't agree with in the slightest. Regardless, he would try his best to not make this known to his newfound "partner" for this mission, keeping his thoughts to himself, responding to her correction with a perhaps somewhat dismissive "Perhaps". Whether Shion saw these things as people or not, it wouldn't matter. For what they had done, they would be brought to justice. That much Johann would swear to himself.

The Ambassador would take his mind off of these darker thoughts, at least, for the time being, at least until he absolutely had to think about it once more. Shion, though, did her part in distracting the silver-haired mage, the girl seeming to open up some more. At the very least she seemed a lot more talkative now than she had been initially, the growls and hisses suspended in favor of what equated to almost light-hearted small talk and conversation, though the girl did appear rather quirky while doing so. To Johann, it felt like natural conversation wasn't her strong suit. Still, the way she talked and went on describing herself was amusing, the silver-haired man smiling on. She seemed awkward, but it was endearing, in a sense. "You're a lot nicer than you seem at first, hm?", he commented in a manner that was quite direct and characteristically straightforward.

At this point, the two had since crossed into the forest, morning light breaking through the occasional opening in the canopy of trees, giving their surroundings, which were steeped in ominous twilight, a mysterious aura. Johann was first and foremost concerned with the trail, though ever since they had stepped into the cover of the woods the scent had gotten weaker, more dispersed. It was hard to perceive much, the smell of wet earth and moss most prevalent. Only with a thud was his attention centered back on the girl, his head turning to her instinctively to just witness her fall. He couldn't help but chuckle at the display of clumsiness. For someone who put a lot of effort into seeming threatening the girl appeared quite scatterbrained. Johann, with light steps, walked over to her side, offering her a hand. "Everything alright?". If she would take his hand the man would, of course, help her up, though he would understand if she wasn't comfortable with the gesture, either. The Ambassador didn't particularly mind.

Regardless of this circumstance, though, there was something else on the man's mind. The scent of blood, surprisingly, seemed ever-present still, despite the fact that they had moved away from the village. They didn't seem to be downwind of the place of massacre, either. It was strange.

Then, instinctively, Johann's body would twist, his movements guided by reaction. He had only had a second of warning, maybe less, though before he knew it, the animal had jumped out from within the bushes around them. Johann raised his arm to shield himself, the wolf that had taken the opportunity to attack sinking its teeth into the limb with a spurt of blood, the crimson liquid beginning to stain the black sleeve of his coat. Johann bit his lip, the dull echo of pain coursing through his body as the creature pulled tight, both the Ambassador and the animal struggling against each other. As luck would have it, that didn't seem to be all. More wolves emerged from the underbrush, bearing teeth, growling at the two mages, their heads low to the ground as they began to circle. "Shion!", Johann called out, his eyes shifting over to the girl. The injury to his own body was unimportant. "We stumbled into an ambush. Get ready for a fight!". Speaking this fact aloud was, of course, somewhat unnecessary. It was quite obvious that their situation wasn't great, but it didn't matter. If they were to fight together, he needed to communicate and coordinate with his job partner. He hoped that she could at least hold her own.

Shion blinked at the hand then back at Johann, distrust shining in her eyes. Of course, he'd done nothing to antagonize her, but people couldn't be trusted. Not when she was still so weak. She was just reaching to accept the hand, when---

Shion leapt to her feet within a few seconds, watching with slitted eyes as the wolf tried to tear off Johann's arm. She suddenly loosed her muscles, slouching slightly, feet apart and fingers spread wide, slightly curled, as if ready to slash, rip, tear----

"Yes Sir!" she barked back, letting herself leak intent in waves, dark, menacing, bloodthirsty---

Killing Intent, Polonium had told her on one of the rare days he was in a good mood. He'd shown her how to position herself just right, the way a person's mouth quirked at exactly the right angle, the way someone's body was positioned in exactly that way.

Then wolves leapt out from the underbrush. Her mouth opened wide, a grin of excitement and adrenaline stretching across her face. Excitement was rushing through her veins like wildfire, giving her a light feeling in her chest. She couldn't help the excited cackle that burst from her mouth, looking slightly deranged. The wolf nearest to her leapt toward her, and she could smell, she could hear, she could see---

Shion lunged forward, grabbing the wolf's fur and throwing it toward the ground. Handfuls of fur ripped off in bloody clumps, and another laugh burst from her. She dug her hands deep into the wounds, letting poison flow through to her hands and into the wolf. Poisoned gas rose from her in waves.

The wolf was snarling, biting and scratching deep gouges in her arms, legs, torso, face; wherever it could reach from the ground. She knew she would feel it later, the radiating pain, but right now she was in an adrenaline high. Blood dripped from a cut on her forehead into her eye, her scar (it twinged sometimes, when it was about to rain) cut open from the wolf's desperate attempts.

Then she was suddenly rolled over, her hands still in the wolf's neck. Her shaking hands had messed something up, she knew it, but at that moment she couldn't give a shit. Her whole body was shaking and she was laughing, because at that moment she felt alive. The wolf snarled above her, it's muzzle leaning down to rip out her throat. She bared her teeth at it, knife-sharp and tinged red from the blood. It flinched, just slightly, and Shion took that as an opportunity to rip its neck up away from its body.

She'd dragged on the fight longer than necessary, but she didn't care because alive, alive alive, she felt so alive.

Another wolf leapt for her. With a mad cackle, filled with promise and dark intent, she leapt toward it. It flinched back at the way she moved, something dark and deadly. It'd always been the omega, weak and horrible at fighting. The omega quickly flipped over onto it's back, showing its stomach as a show of obedience and subservience.

Shion scowled at the omega, cursing her luck. Adrenaline was still rushing through her veins, her heartbeat thundering in her chest, and killing intent leaking from her in dark waves. Taking out her only weapon, the sharpened animal bone, she stabbed at it's soft belly and dragged the bone all the way up to it's jaw.

    It died immediately.

There were other wolves to deal with, so she quickly snatched up her sharpened animal bone and went on to the other wolf. There were two this time, and Shion suddenly knew, something dark, bone deep and bloodthirsty in her telling her that she didn't have the time. She was going to bleed out eventually, the pain would come back when the adrenaline rush faded, and she would pass out.

Shion was a mess. Her hair was everywhere, (curse long hair, in battle at least), her scarf was barely on her neck, exposing her scar to the world, there was a wound on her forehead dripping across her eye, her scar was ripped open, her torso had multiple deep gouges in it, something was wrong with her left ankle, and her right leg had a bite mark deep enough to see the bone. Her hands were covered in blood and guts, and for some reason blood was smeared around her mouth (she'd probably bitten a wolf somewhere, somehow).

She was being reckless, she knew, but she didn't care. It was her first fight in ages, and the feeling of blood under her hands make her feel alive.

She went for the two wolves that were sticking together. They were most likely the Alpha and the Beta. They were the ones that were most likely leading the pack. Her grin stretched even wider, and she looked slightly deranged. This was going to be so fun.

"Cover me while I go for the leaders of the pack?" She asked, even though it was more of a statement than a question. She waited for an affirmative, vibrating in place with tension. A wolf was pacing near her, nervous to go too close. Shion knew it could feel danger. After all, Polonium hadn't taught her dragon KI (Killing Intent) for nothing.

"Cover me?" Shion asked again. She couldn't hold back the pure, absolute bloodlust in her voice, and part of her hoped he didn't realize how absolutely feral she was.

If he did, she might just have to try and put him down.

Shion's definitely feral, holy shit man

Werewolf Hunt (Job w/ Shion) BEwsIGz

The girl would spring into action immediately, her stance and demeanor shifting in naught much more than an instant. She had to be an experienced fighter to respond to a threat like this without any second thought or even hesitation. Well, if she was a mage as she had said, her combat prowess was guaranteed. Of course, Johann would be determined to not lag behind. The man was, after all, one of the 4 Gods of Ishgar. If he wouldn't at least be of use, that in and of itself would constitute an embarrassment. What Shion possessed in determined intent that radiated off her in dark waves, the Ambassador did, as well. Indeed, in a sense, the silver-haired man was not unlike the girl. Contained within him was something more monstrous, bestial, and powerful than most people could fathom. "Mars", the man would almost whisper under his breath, the Second Seal, without further word or question, would react. They had been in this exact scenario many times before, the two souls that inhabited this same body working in perfect unison. Johann felt the Nephilim's magic flood their vessel, this body, a low hum sounding through the air for a passing moment before finally, his magic would manifest.

The sclera of Johann's eyes darkened as a deeply onyx hue took over the previous white, the man's pupils set alight with sanguine arcane force, shining with piercing red. His magical aura would begin to emanate from his own body, akin to strong wind, filling the air around him with a nigh inhuman magical pressure. The animal that had previously clung to his arm in a vice-like bite yelped, immediately and instinctually realizing that it was far, far outmatched, choosing to save its own life by dashing back into the forest as quickly as it could in the hastiest of retreats. The Ambassador would let it flee. Why expend the energy to pursue if it made no difference, after all?

Though, now that Johann drew energy from War, the Second Seal of the Apocalypse, the creature had begun to stir within the back of his head in a familiar feeling, his consciousness melding with that of Johann. A wide, toothy grin would spread across the Ambassador's face, his own voice along with a second one, much deeper, bestial, almost a growl, would ring out simultaneously in an erratic cackle, one overlayed over the other.

"Looks like I'll get to come out and play a little bit ... tssehehe"

Mars' eyes twisted, taking in the situation around him for a fleeting moment. His gaze would, though, stop to rest on Shion, the grin that dominated his expression only widening as he simply stood and watched, beholding the Slayer and her actions. The sheer amount of feral bloodlust and fighting spirit she displayed resonated with the Nephilim of War, who, naturally, was quite fond of such acts himself. "Oh? What do we have here? You didn't tell me you made a new friend, and such a charming one at that", the Seal's voice echoed through the vessel's mind, his playful, unsettlingly amused tone characteristic for the creature Johann hosted within himself. The Ambassador remained silent, used to Mars' antics. He knew better than to engage with him or enable his ramblings.

"But of course", Mars responded quickly to the girl's initial request for cover, his grin twisting into a disturbing smile. He made no mystery of the fact that he relished the girl's bloodshed. Indeed, it was an art all of itself, and to Mars, Shion was a practitioner of such art. "It will be my pleasure", the distortedly deep growl would echo through the trees around them with a playful cackle, Mars turning to the rest of the wolves so Shion could indulge in her bloodlust to her heart's content. "Very well, it seems like it's my turn to play, then, tssehe".

The pack had already been decimated by Shion, and the rest of the wolves didn't seem too keen on fighting on, either. Still, they appeared to find reassurance in their numbers. Mars would just have to demonstrate to them the nature of the error they had committed to. Within less than the blink of an eye and a burst of incredible speed he closed the distance between himself and the closest animal, using his sheer velocity and momentum to spin around his leg and drive the extremity into the wolf's side, practically launching the creature off its feet and into the forest with a force that would resonate through the earth around them for a few passing moments. The creature would undoubtedly perish in an instant. It would take the rest of the pack a moment to process and catch up with the event that had just occurred before them, though Mars had already gotten lower to the ground, ripping open his mouth and unleashing a deep, bestial roar of an intensity that shook the ground. The wolves got the message, turning on the spot and dispersing back into the woods.

Well, that had been entirely too easy, although it was certainly the best option. Fighting animals and beasts was decidedly less entertaining than humans or other mages. Mars took a deep breath, turning his head to shoot a look over his shoulder at Shion. After all, he was quite intrigued by her performance.

A voice responded, something disturbing lurking behind it. It was also definitely not Johann. The voice was...creepy, to say the least. Shion did not react other than a slight nod, launching toward the two alphas. She was going to rip their still beating hearts out of their chests, was going to laugh as warm blood splattered on her face. It was not senseless killing, she told herself. I am a good person.

As the wolf lunged towards her, (probably the Beta) Shion chanted these words in her mind. As she crumpled to the ground gracefully to avoid the wolf, as the wolf passed over her, as she raised her hand and stabbed into its upper neck. I am a good person.

Contrary to the laws of cool anime moves, the wolf did not keep moving with the momentum. It just hung there, the bone shard sunk into its heart. Shion grabbed it's jaw, and held it firmly there, her arms shaking with exertion. The other wolf was trying to tear off her leg, it's teeth firmly sunken into her foot. Shion ignored the Alpha and dragged the bone shard all the way to the Beta's stomach, swiftly darting out from under it.

Pain like no other radiated from her foot, a horrible shriek torn from her. The wolf's teeth had dragged across her foot, leaving a deep gouge. Shion could feel the wolf biting bone, so fragile and weak, and she almost couldn't see it's form, blood and exhaustion blurring her vision. She stabbed at it desperately, poison dripping down the bone shard. The ground where the droplets landed died. So did the wolf, when Shion stabbed it.

It finally let go of her foot, it's jaw loosening as it died. She scowled at it's still form, cursing to herself as she tore one animal-pelt pant leg to long strips, wrapping it firmly around her foot. She was going to pass out soon from blood loss and pain, but the least she could do was wrap up her deepest wound.

"Ugh, my bone is going to bruise," she grumbled to herself. "Your battle..."

Shion struggled with the words, finally remembering one from the tavern. The men-always-smelling-of-beer had been playing a game, and one of them had roared cheat! She didn't know how well it applied to this situation, but she had to do something to lighten the situation, so he would at least take her to a hospital. He would leave her lying on the ground if she didn't speak up.

"Cheat," she stuck her tongue out at Johann jokingly, the corners of her lips pulling up just slightly. "Your battle...quick."

She finally settled on that. The tavern hadn't really talked about battle much. Of course, they'd talked about women and 'bosoms' a lot. Apparently they were soft and squishy. She'd told the tavern owner she wanted to have one to sleep on, and he'd glanced at her chest area for some reason. Then he'd told her no.

Shion met his gaze, before tilting her head questioningly. "You have...have monster in you too?"

Curse her limited english. She scowled at herself, before trying to sit up. She sort of succeeded. Shion had dragged herself to one of the nearby trees, back leaning on it for support and legs stretching out in front of her. There was a bloody trail leading to her, and she cursed. There was no way to get rid of the blood stench.

"Useless if another battle," Shion said loudly. Her wounds hurt so goddamn much that it physically hurt to just talk. She allowed herself to feel a hint of pride before squashing it down ruthlessly; if a wolf pack hurt her this much she would have no chance against werewolves. Or maybe they were the werewolves. She wouldn't know; her sense of smell was engulfed with poison right now.

"If those werewolves, job complete?" she asked, relaxing into the tree even more. The bark pressed harshly against her skin, keeping her from slipping into the realm of the unconscious. "You can leave me here. Useless for job, anyway," Shion muttered, waving her hand in the air. "Please take me to heal person. I can pay you the rest of my jewel."

She shifted uncomfortably. "Pass out soon. Then out of your hair, and you can go on without me."

It said a lot that she knew negative phrases like that very well, mostly that the tavern was a place for hunters and bad people. But her job was a job. A good job, and she wasn't going to lose it. The tavern owner said she was 'decent' for food. She had scoffed and taken offense; Polonium had taught her better than just 'decent'.

"Can cook, sun is going down," she added. "I can cook for you, and you can bring me to a heal person?"
Eh, Shion's gonna pass out soon

Werewolf Hunt (Job w/ Shion) BEwsIGz

Mars would catch the final moments of Shion's battle with one of the two wolves, the other already lying defeated in its own blood and gore, the girl repeatedly stabbing the other one in a cruel, animalistic display of desperate violence. The smirk on the Nephilim's face widened. What a beautiful fight. Alas, however, it would appear that this was the full extent of fighting, for now, the broken carcasses of a portion of the pack a clear indicator who had won this fight. It was almost disappointing, the fact that this was all the fun the Second Seal would get for now. Mars' consciousness would retreat into the back of the Ambassador's mind, for the time being, the man's eyes returning to their normal state, Johann, once more, taking a deep breath, as he regained control over this vessel.

His gaze fell on the girl, her body covered in deep gashes, bites, bruises, blood. She didn't appear in the best of shapes. At all. Johann's brows furrowed. He didn't exactly understand what she meant by cheating, but he did nod, acknowledging her comment as he moved over to her, looming over her form to inspect her wounds, his head following the trail of blood. "In a sense, I suppose you could say so, yes", he would answer her monster-related inquiry. "Mars is a creature of curious nature, but he can control himself ... mostly. My apologies that you had to witness his interference".

"Hold still, Shion", Johann spoke firmly and in a commanding voice, almost ignoring her comments about being useless in another fight, being out of commission, or her pleas to take her to a healer, letting her say what she had to say, though categorizing her words as rambling for now. "This might hurt a little". Johann would extend his hand, the limb covered briefly in an aura that resembled deeply black smoke, a swirl of a substance that absorbed all light around it. It was a magical coalescence of pure negative energy, the same power that Johann had wielded earlier. A magic that held the power over space, time, the very concept of reversal itself. Once it would make contact with the girl, it would immediately begin its work, closing the wounds she had sustained in mere moments. Her bones would snap back into place, her flesh would heal, her blood regenerate, leaving her in the exact state she had been in before this fight had even begun. It was, of course, a somewhat uncomfortable process, to have ones own body reconstruct itself, and certainly, the shifting of bones would cause pain, but it was the best Johann could offer. The Ambassador had gotten used to agonizing torture, the magic wasn't meant to be used on others, of course, but he also wouldn't let Shion bleed out. After that was done, he would raise his hand and touch his own wound, the bite marks on his arm vanishing beneath the bloodstained clothing, leaving behind only perfectly untouched skin, not a single scar to be seen. "That should do it for now".

"It's none of my business, Shion, but ... a word of advice-", the silver-haired mage would address her anew after a brief pause, his gaze falling back on the girl, "-unless you have either the strength to back it up or a death wish, don't rush into battle like that again. If there was no healer around you would be bleeding out by now". The man sighed, his eyes resting on the bloodstained ground for a fleeting moment before shifting to the woods around them, his senses regaining a certain attentiveness. It was, naturally, not his place to deliver criticism like this one, and if she wanted to ignore him, it was certainly within her right, but his words came from a place of genuine concern. If she was indeed 15 like she had said, this was no age to die, mauled by wolves at that.

Speaking of wolves. "I doubt that these were the werewolves we are looking for", Johann quickly circled back to a point he had wordlessly acknowledged before. "If these were the werewolves, I doubt that they'd had either the strength or the numbers to decimate that village in such brutal manner". The Ambassador, at the girl's prompt, would lift his eyes to the horizon, indeed, noticing the orange and red hues of the setting sun. A circumstance that was almost disturbing. Neither their little excursion into the woods nor their fight with the wolves had taken up too much time, and it had been morning not too long ago. Was this a phenomenon exclusive to the Cursed Lands? Or perhaps something of a magical origin? The Ambassador would narrow his eyes as he wondered briefly. "I don't need sustenance, at least, not yet. If you want to prepare food, by all means, go ahead. We should be out of danger. For now, that is. I'll keep an eye open". Needless to say, the man had grown more than just a little suspect of the area they found themselves in and the dangers that lurked here, seemingly just waiting to prey on the two mages at any given opportunity.

Shion grinned to herself when he talked about Mars, satisfied with the fact that they were...sorta the same. Then he was coming closer, telling her to be still, and---

"Hold still, Shion," Polonium rumbled. "This might hurt a little."

Shion froze. Familiar dark gas was pouring from his arm, and he was going to force her to swallow it. She was going to lay there, twitching on the ground because he was going to make her swallow the poison, and it was going to happen. She was going to be in pain for hours, but it was fine. She would not be weak.

She braced herself, then relaxed; the pain wasn't that---oh, nope, there it was. She hissed internally, letting her body relax and try to embrace the pain. She could feel her bones shifting together and her wounds knitting together. Her bones ground against each other awkwardly, the magic seemingly unaccustomed to the human body. It was vicious but also gentle, not sparing her the pain but also healing it.

Shion felt it go over her face, roughly closing her wounds. It was against her scars now. She held her breath, knowing that if it smoothed over her skin she wouldn't be able to do anything. It just moved on. When it was over, she let out a breath.

Then Johann started talking, and she had to admit; he was right. But then again---"Who says I don't have a death wish?" she muttered to herself. Louder, she said, "You're right, sorry. First battle in...too longs to count. Not an excuse, though. Sorry."

Shion flexed her arms, marveling at how good she felt. She killed the tree she was leaning on, the tenacious threads of life it'd held on to snipped. It was easy to push it over, the trunk snapping with a sound like thunder. Shion winced a bit, before grinning. "I know it probably wasn't the werewolves, and they'll probably come at night. Help me set up a barrier, just push over trees in the outline of the clearing. The bushes help as markers,"

When he said he didn't need sustenance, Shion took exactly three seconds to translate that word into food, and nodded a touch doubtfully. "Yeah, but food gives back energy. Gotta be strong when the werewolves come, eh?"

She left the clearing, waving a long-nailed hand and saying "Gonna go get some berries, maybe hunt some rabbits,"

It took her a while to find the berries, which she eventually deemed poisonous after eating it on her own, and saved it for stuffing into the spare meat, and then throwing it to the werewolves. Her process for getting the rabbits were simple; she collapsed their den and then dug them out. She'd been careful not to touch any of them with her poison. (Johann was going to eat, goddammit) Then, she'd dug into her bag and brought out spices.

She started heading back. In her hands were a couple of big stones, perfect to surround a fire. Shion then realized that she had nothing to start the fire with. Well, she hoped he would have some, or they were going to have to strike stones.

    Ah, shit.
I had literally no motivation sorry it's short and I took a long time to post, sorry, sorry, sorry!

Joh maintained his stern look for but a few passing seconds, but drew a sigh when the girl apologized. It wasn't his intention to patronize her or make her feel bad, for that matter, but she seemed like someone who took her fights seriously, perhaps a little too seriously if she would suffer grave injury every time. Or maybe, as she said, she wasn't the most experienced fighter, based on the comment that she hadn't fought in a long time? Johann didn't know, he couldn't read minds, after all, but still, he didn't necessarily want someone to charge into their death while under his watch. He'd seen enough of that in not just recent history, but the past, of course, as well. He'd just have to make sure to take a more active approach in the next duel to come. If it would indeed come, that was.

"A barrier, hm?", Joh repeated her request, unsure what to make of it. On the one hand, he couldn't help but wonder why Shion seemed to go for a more defensive approach in her decision to set up a perimeter and bunker down instead of pushing on to find and confront the werewolves before they could confront the two mages, though before he could even formulate a question of that nature, the answer would occur to him as his eyes once more darted past the traces of red that still stained the ground. Shion was probably quite tired from her not just her ferocious battle, but also the wounds and subsequent regeneration that had been included. A period of rest was most likely required. "Very well", the Ambassador would respond quite simply, reaching for his side and drawing the previously sheathed rapier at his side. It wasn't exactly the most appropriate tool to cut down a tree, but the thing was a magical weapon, of course. It wouldn't break that easily. Before Johann could begin his work, Shion, though, would comment on their food situation once more, the silver-haired man stopping with a perplexed look. Wild rabbit and berries were a far cry from the usual meals he'd get at the guild, and he admittedly didn't like the sound of it too much. He would simply shake his head, though the smirk would once more return to his expression. "Thank you, Shion, but I think I'll be quite strong enough regardless". It was a light-hearted joke that played with the Ambassador's confidence in Mars and his own abilities.

As Shion left, the man would begin his work, with carefully placed swipes beginning to fell trees in a ring around the clearing, gradually creating a make-shift barrier of trunks, branches, and leaves that would, if anything, at least conceal their position. Though this task, seemingly, hadn't taken too long, as Johann was finished long before Shion had returned from her scavenger hunt for something to eat. The man would make a mental note to store some stable meals in his pocket space for situations like these. As it stood, all he had was cool drinks, and, well, alcoholic beverages, which were decidedly not for the girl to enjoy, given the fact she claimed to be only 15 years old.

When she did return, however, the Ambassador would turn, seeing not only the bounty of her hunt, but also the rocks she seemed to be hauling around, a crooked, but amused smile shaping his expression into a grin. "Are you gonna build a fireplace?", he asked curiously. It probably wasn't necessary, as Johann could substitute such with magic, should it be required. His control over fire was one of his stronger elemental affinities. "Give me a second". The man turned, his eyes on a pile of dead and dry branches, nodding, before pointing at it, his fingers extended forward. He would snap them, red runes lighting up on his fingertips for a brief moment, though that was certainly not the spectacle worthy of the most attention. The pile would spark with magical energy before lighting up in a roaring flame that shot up, burning ferociously for a second before the magic would fade, leaving behind only the crackling fire that quickly began to reduce in intensity from a scorching pillar to the equivalent of a comfortably simmering campfire. "I hope that this is sufficient", he spoke, taking a breath and walking over to the flame, sitting down next to it. If they would have to take a break, well, he might as well make the best out of it.

Shion stared at him for a bit, watching as he snapped his fingers for a fire. "Holy shit," she breathed, accidentally saying it out loud. "Wonder what it's like ta be powerful," she mused quietly to herself. Then her ears started burning, embarrassment flooding through her. Her words were quiet, and she wasn't sure if he'd heard or not.

"Anyway, thanks for the fire. I have a stick," she cleared her throat a little when her voice got rough (some part of her had never forgotten the feeling of being left behind). "You know in hindsight that sentence explains literally nothing and I’m not sure why I offered it as explanation. Uh, it's ta roast the rabbit. I got a lot of em and uh...I don't think I can eat them all. You won't let their deaths go ta waste, will ya?"

I really hope this works, because I can't actually eat all this myself, she thought to herself. I know rabbits mate like crazy, but eight of them is just too much. But if he refused, she'd force all the rabbits down her throats no matter how full she was. Meaningless death was...

Shion sighed, scratching the back of her neck as she skinned the rabbit smoothly. Her little bone dagger cut deep into the flesh of the rabbit when she realized it was bare, and it took a bit before she started moving again. Panic was rushing through her veins (it was her last reminder and it was gone), before she spotted it on the edge of the clearing. It was half under a tree, thankfully unharmed.

Her hand unconsciously started to trace her scar, her face vacant as she tried to remember. Ah, there was no point. Her eyes flickered to the trees again, worry creased on her face.

Now that she thought about it, the tree barrier was actually really good. Although, they were just felled trees. She glanced at the rabbit (which was rapidly becoming less than quality) then at her scarf. Then she glanced toward Johann. Maybe he would...nah, probably not. She sighed to herself, deciding to get the scarf later.

The rabbit was stabbed onto a stick. Shion put her preferred spices on it then put the jars of them on the ground, making a grunting a sound toward Johann. "Some salt and stuff if you actually wanna eat rabbits. Uh, do ya have anythin' ta drink?"

Her question was awkward, the accent she'd picked up from the tavern heavy in her mouth. God, why was she so bad at being social? While she scolded herself, delicious smells permeated the air. Wouldn't be long now, she thought to herself while she ate her second rabbit. The bones of the first were gathered in a pile and buried.

She watched as smoke twirled into the sky, the smell making her wrinkle her nose. Ugh, it reminded her of that time a man had stumbled towards her, breath stinking of cigarettes (he'd gone out of the tavern with a horrible fear of women with blue hair).

"I don't know much about you," she told Johann, ears pricked for the sound of approaching wolves. It wouldn't take them long now. She started making another rabbit, this time stuffing the poisonous berries into them. If she remembered pack rules right, the leader ate first. Of course, it was possible that they didn't have that hierarchy, but it was worth a chance.

"You don't have to tell me if you're uncomfortable," she added blandly, her expression smoothed out and cool. She knew all too well the feeling of being stuck in a situation she didn't want to be in, forced to talk or...something. The rabbit was done, cooked to perfection. It was the one with the poison, she could smell it. There were wolves nearby too, a soft breeze carrying the musky scent. Of course, it was also mingled with something else; the smell of a person. The faint scent of blood was also carried with them, and her teeth grit (she was careful not to hook on to anything in her mouth).

Shion crooked her finger, mouthing "werewolves" and hoping he could understand her. Then she pointed to the rabbit with the batch of berries.

"Ah, the berries are poisonous, so don't touch em." she said, hand still pointing to the rabbit, trying to keep her voice level. It was shaking though, just barely, and she could feel poison seeping from her. Bloodlust emanated from her---

There was an ominous creaking sound, and Shion whipped her head toward the trees. Her neck was cold. She wanted her scarf.

There was poison dripping down her hands, the grass where it landed dying on contact. But she was probably getting too eager. She needed to calm down. The ground where she sat was dead. Nothing was going to grow there for years. Holding back a sigh, Shion scooched closer to Johann.

"Throw the rabbit to the wolves," she murmured. Her hands were coated with poison, a toxic smell rising from them. He was probably only sitting next to her to be polite.

    A flower withered and died.

"Berries in the rabbit. My hands are..." she trailed off, holding up her hands for unneeded proof. Anyone could smell the death emanating from her in waves. "Ah, right. Please. That is how you say it, right?"

Human traditions were weird. Dragon ones made much more sense; power meant the lesser ones obeyed. None of this "please" and "thank you" business.

Maybe he could get her scarf, too, if he was willing. "Can ya get me mah scarf too? I'm...not me without that damn thing..."

Her accent thickened when she was nervous, taking on a rough edge. Her words were usually blurred by the mountain tavern's...she wasn't sure what to call it. Slang? Accent? She tried to sound regal, elegant, but she was embarrassing herself in front of the grey haired man. Maybe he would feel pity for her.

"Sorry if my talking is odd," she sounded out the words clearly and carefully, trying to go slow but not too slow or he would think her stupid. "I'm not from here. Will you do what I ask if I say 'please'? Because...please. I can't go myself, because..."

There was a puddle of poison on the ground around her, grass turning brown under her hands. It was the most potent poison she knew of, and for some reason, she always came back to it when she was nervous. Shion waved a hand covered in the gold-bronze colored liquid, trying to grin sheepishly but most likely coming off as hostile.

"Please," she added once more. Her hand made an aborted move toward her neck.

It was cold without the scarf.

Werewolf Hunt (Job w/ Shion) BEwsIGz

Johann eyed Shion briefly, wondering what was going through the girl's head and why she wanted to make him tp partake in a meal with her so much, though, in the end, the man would relent with a soft sigh. He wasn't particularly easily persuaded, but Shion knew how to make a point, a soft tone of his speaking the words "Fine, I'll eat with you". He wasn't too fond of flame-grilled rabbit for breakfast, but it was what it was. He wouldn't exactly complain, either way, watching as Shion began preparing what she'd hunted, ears, though, attentively listening for any movement outside of the makeshift perimeter. Perhaps the scent of meat or blood would attract the werewolves to their position? Not a bad coincidence, the Ambassador thought. Or had it been planned? He wasn't sure, deciding against inquiring with the girl for fear that it could upset her. Perhaps Shion was smarter, Johann thought, than her feral nature at first had made her out to be. She seemed focussed on her task anyway ... until she would speak up once more, that was.

"I do", he confirmed her question simply, reaching out, a small circle of runes appearing in the air next to him, opening a portal. The Ambassador would reach into it, producing two small bottles of a light orange color. As he'd stored them in his pocket dimension, they were, even now, ice-cold, containing within a mixture of various fruit juices he kept for some of his preferred alcoholic drinks. "Here", he would place one on the ground beside him, handing the other one to the girl. He wasn't sure if this was anything suited to her liking, but apart from this and water, there wasn't much more he could offer that wasn't a high-proof drink. He snapped open the lid of the bottle, taking a drink. The taste was slightly acidic in nature, but that was to be expected. Apart from that, it was a perfectly normal blend of fruit juices. As he, however, had offered her drink, she had offered food, Johann, with a somewhat raised eyebrow reaching for a rabbit of a stick, with a pinch of his fingers and a look of resignation sprinkling some salt over the thing before subjecting it to the heat of the fire.

"Well, Shion, I am an open book, as long as you don't go and pass around my secrets". That was, of course, a reference to Mars, though subtle in nature. The Seal's presence within the man wasn't exactly a secret, though most people had an innate fear of things they didn't understand. The Nephilim's presence didn't exactly serve to dispel any worries either, based on his rather frightening powers and presence alone. "If there's anything you want to know, ask, and I will do my best to give you an answer". He would bite into the now cooked rabbit, flavors of grilled meat and smoke filling his mouth. It wasn't too bad, after all.

The Ambassador would nod at her prompt, he, too, having smelled the subtle change in the air, shifting slightly where he sat, his demeanor visibly on edge. If enemies were approaching, he had to be ready to deal with them at a second's notice. Joh did his best to remain unseeming and unchanged, to fool their approaching foe if necessary more than anything, though he wouldn't take his eyes off the fire and the girl, noticing that she, too, seemed to be ready for a fight. It was hard to overlook the obviously aggressive poisonous substance she released.

He would nod once more, standing up reaching for the rabbit she'd pointed to and, with a swift, though silent motion, launching it past the treeline, the poisoned morsel disappearing in the shadows beyond the orange glow emitted by the fire. An interesting plan, filling a rabbit with poisoned berries only to, quite literally, throw it to the wolves for them to feast on. A clever trick, he had to admit, though not his style. This mission wasn't about him, though, so naturally, the Ambassador went along with it. If it meant that there would be fewer enemies to fight, what harm would it do?

The girl's request was immediately followed by another one, though, Johann tilting his head slightly, following the direction of her gaze towards an area in the barrier, and subsequently, the article of clothing that had somehow gotten caught under one of the trees. He turned to look back at the girl, a genuinely amused grin finding its way onto his face. As typical for the God of Ishgar, he paid little mind to the girl's way of expressing herself. As long as he understood, all was well. Had she perhaps taken his advice to heart and would remain more cautious? The Ambassador couldn't be sure, but it was what it was. "It's getting rather fresh out here, huh? Don't worry, I'll go get it", he would answer with a smirk, swift steps carrying him over to the edge of the clearing. Gently, he would lift the tree, a feat for any normal person, surely, though Johann had the benefit of magic on his side, after all, retrieving the scarf carefully as not to damage the fabric, before setting the tree down again. With the item in hand extended towards her, similarly swift steps took him back to the fire, offering Shion's possession back to her.

At this point, the man wondered if they were just passing the time waiting for Shion's plan to take effect, or if she had something else in mind. Not that he particularly minded either option, though, he was curious to see what the girl would do next, and, naturally, whether her scheme would bear fruit and not only reveal, but also eliminate one, or perhaps even more of the werewolves.

Shion quickly grabbed the scarf, wrapping it around her neck and sighing in relief as her anxious poison stopped (the scarf contained her powers; without it, everything around her would die). She cleared her throat and muttered a weak "Thanks", relief clear in her voice.

"It's..it means a lot ta me that you actually got it. Uh, it wasn't all sentimental reasons o' course! Uh, it helps me control my poison from gettin' outta control, and, uh...wolf packs, let's talk about that? Yeah, uh,"

Her eyes lowered slightly as she started to talk about what she'd found out about wolf packs---it felt wrong, somehow, to betray their secrets like this, but kill or be killed, right?

"In wolf packs, tha leader always eats first," she whispered just loud enough for him to hear her. "And the poison is spread pretty through--thourouh--thoroughly, through the rabbit. It's a delayed sorta poison too, 'nd  at least two wolves should die. They're prolly gonna be tha pack leaders, and that's...that's good, I think, uh---"

Howling cut through her sentence, more and more wolves joining in. So, at least the pack leader had died, which was pretty nice. Shion lifted her nose to the air, eyes narrowing as she realized she could smell death on at least three wolves.

She frowned. Why had that many fallen for her trick? That wasn't normal, she didn't think, they couldn't be that stupid. Her brows furrowed, confusion flickering through her veins. Something had happened, she knew. Maybe one of them had attacked the other---

Oh, she realized, something tight in her chest. They suspected each other, they thought their pack mates were the culprits. Of course, they thought one of them had assassinated the leader, and something snapped in her chest at the realization that one of them killed a packmate.

Shion relayed as much, adding, "That's like killing your sibling or father, depending on where they stood in the pack. You just..."

Her voice trailed off, muttering "他们是你的哥哥姐姐和弟弟妹妹..."

A low whine rose in her throat, her mind even refusing the very idea that they killed each other. But they weren't wolves, they were were wolves, and they cared very little about each other, probably. She sighed, tiredness seeping through her veins. "Three've died," she finally mustered up the energy to say. "I still smell two werewolves, which is pretty small. They aren't very good at recruiting people, are they? Don't answer that."

Shion raised a steady (shaking) hand to her scarf, shook. She'd known they weren't exactly wolves, didn't have the honor and loyalty, but this was...unexpected. They could've rushed into the camp and done something unexpected, and she could've broken down, and---

"We should probably ambush them now," Shion whispered to Johann. "They're confused and angry, so they're weak right now, you come from one side and I come from the other?"

Shion pressed her lips together, foot tapping quickly against the ground. She still had four more rabbits left, but they wouldn't fall for the same trick again. Unless, of course, there was another good rabbit tossed toward them. They would immediately be suspicious, but they would still probably eat (either with the weakest of the pack as a test taster or with the leader being arrogant and eating first) since most of the pack was starving. She let out a breath, and muttered "Toss 'em a good rabbit, they'll think the next one is good too, probably. We have two choices, either ambush them or try ta kill the rest of em off with rabbits, though that'll take longer and we'll probably be sitting here, talking and eating. Even then, it's not a guarantee. For the rabbits, I mean, the ambush is probably a guarantee, I, uh...'m rantin', sorry. i'll just...what should we do?"

Shion looked at Johann, a sliver of frustration in her eyes. She wouldn't be able to make the right choice, childish and short-tempered as she was. Johann was way more mature, and he would probably make the best choice (the battle from before was evidence of that).

Shion repeated in a smaller, more subdued voice: "What should we do?"
Alright so the reason the leader ate the rabbit is because in actual wolf packs, that's how it worked. The highest ranking member ate first, and then the second ranked member ate, and so forth. It's an actual fact. I assumed that the werewolves would automatically adopt the same pack structure, partly from wolf instincts and partly from the strongest being arrogant/prideful.

Werewolf Hunt (Job w/ Shion) BEwsIGz

The girl seemed a little nervous, flustered, at the least, when the Ambassador handed her the scarf. "Don't mention it", he brushed it off curtly, though not in a rude manner, his eyes, instead, choosing to wander to the beyond. The smell of beast was getting stronger, images of the burnt village, and the massacre that had occurred therein, flooding Johann's mind. He knew why he had come here, and he knew why he had stayed this long. He closed his eyes briefly, taking a subtle, but deep breath, a glint of determination within them when he opened them once more, his expression gradually becoming colder. "I see. Good work, Shion", he would respond to her explanation, not taking his eyes off the treeline. Had the girl picked this up somewhere? Or had she come up with this plan herself? Either option was, at least in part, frightening. She seemed far too ... aggressive for a girl her age. It wasn't Johann's place to judge, and the silver-haired man would suspend any desire to think about this fact any further, accepting it as a harsh reality of the world they lived in, but simultaneously also recognizing the tragedy in this circumstance. "We can count on the leader of the pack perishing, then?". It would make life a little easier in any upcoming fight, if not for himself, then for the girl herself. Any of these creatures that died an agonizing death would, in small part, restore the balance of today's events. Johann accepted this as retribution for the innocent citizens of Fiore they had slaughtered.

It was hard to miss the howls. Something was happening. Shion seemed to understand what had just happened, at least, so the Ambassador would think based on her mumbling, at first, in a manner that Johann understood, though thereafter switching to a different language. His head would tilt slightly, his gaze briefly wandering over to the girl. Was she ... shocked? She seemed to regain her composure quickly, at least outwardly, the silver-haired God of Ishgar choosing not to comment, though he would follow up the girl's description of their enemy's situation with "Two, hm? One for each of us ...". Of course, Johann could take them on by himself, if need be, though he still wasn't sure what exactly had occurred. Whatever the case, it seemed the little trick was more successful than initially anticipated, not one, two, but three of them succumbing to it.

"Forgive me, Shion, I know it might seem selfish, but I still have a bone to pick with those beings ...", Johann turned back towards the direction where the werewolves would be found, according to his sense of smell and hearing, "... I haven't forgotten what they have done. For that, I will make them pay". Johann stretched out a hand, drawing the rapier at his side once more. "As you said, now is the time to ambush them. I will fight. Join me or don't, it doesn't matter. This won't take long". The Ambassador's voice, tone, and expression underwent a stark shift, a wide, malicious grin spreading across his face, magical power, at first slowly, then with ever-increasing intensity, rippling from his body.

"Time for a little more fun, tssehe"

Within a moment, Mars' consciousness would take control of the body the two souls shared once more, the Ambassador's form blurring in another burst of extreme speed which launched him through the treeline and towards the werewolves. Reappearing closer to them, Johann had not much more than a moment to observe the situation he had only speculated about before, spotting one of the massive, hulking wolf-like beings face-first in the mud, unmoving, and another one, too, in the mud, though still twitching and wincing in obvious pain. A third one was covered in blood and sunk into a pool of sanguine liquid, it's brown fur stained and torn in places. Two more, similarly adorned with a few scratches and claw marks, though certainly not as many as the dead one, stood nearby, their heads, in confusion, only now turning to the Ambassador, who had, to them, come out of nowhere. These were not as big as two of the neutralized ones, but still massive and imposing creatures in their own right. Johann and Mars, though, would be unimpressed, ignoring their bestial forms. Mars knew that whatever the case, these beasts were not even coming close to his own strength.

His dark eyes first shifting onto one bigger of the two remaining werewolves, Mars grinned as the creatures began to shift to react to the new threat, to no avail, his dark voice echoing through the forest. "Let's dance!". In a flash of magic, Mars' teleported through the space between himself and the wolf in an instant, appearing right in front of the creature. Startled, the monstrosity had not as much as a second to react. Within this timeframe, Mars placed his hand on the creature's chest, releasing a burst of magical energy that manifested as crackling electricity surging through the werewolf's body with a thunderous roar. Arcs of energy would dance across its form as it twitched, the beast, though, much to Mars' surprise, still alive, though immobilized. "You're a tough one, hm?", the Second Seal giggled, raising the sword and driving it through the werewolf's chest, blood spurting from the mortal wound as it sunk backward and onto the cold ground limply. It would bleed out slowly over the coming minute, it's heart crushed by the swift strike ...

... which left only one of the beasts standing, Mars turning towards it. If Shion didn't take care of the beast, then he would, no less swiftly and mercilessly than he had taken care of the other one.

Shion sprinted into action the second the words "ambush" fell from the man's mouth, leaping at one of the werewolves. She wanted it to suffer. It'd made so many people die ( --- could've lived for decades more, with happy families and smiles and the sun shining on their backs --- ), made so many people rot and decay and she could smell rot clear as day, even though the bodies had been too fresh for the smell ( --- Polonium had left the human bodies to rot at the mouth of their cave, a snarl trapping itself in his throat --- ), the feel of dried blood flaking off of her skin and drifting along into the wind.

Distantly, she noted the twitching, not quite dead bodies of two of the werewolves, dark puddles of blood beneath them. Distantly, she noted that two were completely dead, one of poisoning and the other from being attacked. The metallic tang of blood had hit her nose, as had the stench of death. One was still alive, though twitching, Shion cursed to herself as she stomped on it's throat, noting how the berries hadn't worked well on one of the three fallen. It seemed like prolonged exposure to this forest changed you, and a chill worked it's way down her spine.

The werewolf she was in front of her leapt at her, arrogance and a certain surety of victory radiating off of it---

Shion stabbed her bone shard through it's chest, her scarf slowly dripping poison in her hand, where she'd ripped it off of her neck. Unrestrained, the very air around her became toxic; to take even a whiff was death, unless you were a mage or a particularly tenacious werewolf. Face impassive, she watched as it stopped struggling to get closer, it's body starting to go limp. She ripped her arm out of the space between it's second and fourth rib, it's third one having been broken with the force of her punch.

It's back was against the tree behind it, slumped over, eyes half lidded. It's arms were hanging limply at its sides, fingers twitching with the urge to murder. The glare it gave her made her giggle a little, the sound high and girly; the exact opposite of everything she was.

She crouched down, staring it straight in the eyes, scarf looped tightly around her neck once again. "Oops," she deadpanned at it. "I think I've made you start dying faster. That's not good. Johann, I'm gonna be takin' a while. Ya think you can wait for a bit while I torture it? Just ta extract info, o' course. Not sayin' I won't enjoy it, though."

Shion grinned, teeth sharp, still craving the metallic taste of blood. The werewolf twitched, the scent of fear wafting off of it in waves. Her fingers twitched; time to get bloodier.

A few minutes later, there was a disappointed "tsk". The creature on the ground could hardly be called a creature now; it was more like a lump of flesh. I really did a number on this thing. The thought had barely drifted through her mind, bogged down with guilt, before it was crushed. It deserved the torture, it deserved all that had happened to it. She was not a bad person. But you are, the voice in her head whispered.

--- blood, fingers delicately picking out pieces of flesh and putting them beside her, howls of pain, the smell of stomach acid, the taste of disgust on her tongue, the feel of slippery, slippery organs between her thumb and pointer finger ---

She put them in a box in the pack of her mind for later, wrapping heavy chains around it as the box rumbled ominously in her mind.

Shion got up, half of her covered in gore and blood, the other half perfectly clean except for some old, dried blood, dust, and a few rips in the fabric of her very abused hoodie. Her magic energy level was low, although the rabbits had helped. The unrestrained magic energy hadn't, though. Her lips thinned. She still couldn't fully control her power, and that was dangerous, apparently ( --- choked screams, wide eyes, mouths filled with purple foam --- ).

Shion turned toward Johann, her voice strained and with an undercurrent of I'm going to go cry in a corner now. "There was no reason for attacking the village, apparently. They were just...bored."

Her voice dripped with disgust at the word. They'd slaughtered so many people for no reason except to sate their bloodlust. To get off. Her hands shook slightly, from fatigue, the fact that that she'd just tortured a man, and disgust for the now pile-of-meat werewolf.

Her feet lead her toward the tree barrier where she collapsed. Shion slowly loosened the chains around the box, the things she'd been blocked out since the beginning of this mission rushing back in. She could imagine how proud Polonium would be, could remember the horrid scene of a burned---no, completely demolished village in her mind's eye, could remember how much the scene had been overlaid with her own memories of destroyed villages, could remember hands, kness, and feet stinging with pain as she climbed a mountain to a cave, poison and the scent of home hanging in the air; Shion realized she was trying to force a scream through her mouth, trying to scream and she couldn't, trying to throw up but she couldn't because she'd just killed and tortured and they had been people, had probably had lives before she killed them, and it didn't matter that they'd killed too because they hadn't slowly dissected each and every of the dead people in a misguided, gleeful attempt at torture and interrogation.

Gasps forced their way out of her mouth as her body craved for air, the sharp sting of pain and the blood now dripping it's way down her unbloodied arm making her sit on her legs, forehead on the ground. She shuddered, feeling the cold numbness of dissociation. "Help me, I'm drowing, help me, I'm a good person, I'm good I'm good, good good good good good ---"

Her voice came out harsh and breathless, loud enough to be heard echoing through the trees. I just tortured a man, Polonium, what the fuck do you think of that, huh?

"I'm a good person," she gasped out again, eyes watery but not letting tears escape. She wanted to cry, needed to cry so bad, and she pleaded, whispered, prayed, to whatever god that was up there to forgive her of her sins.

    "I'm a good person..."
