    Haraka Omaras

"In the dawn it comes faster than the sun, or the blink of a gun. Through the trees comes a breeze so green that it'll bring you to your knees. Emerald breaths wafting through every door, too rude to knock before calling it home. So pretty and bright the maidens be until you see that you can't breathe. Weaving of the winds brings a terrible sin made by malicious plans and hands of man who see only the wants for filling their hands. The lass will linger on in the groves to force their way through to pierce the bones. Shimmering song sounds sweet as it makes it all clean to fill a few with gold."
A song echoed through the forest that kept beasts from even thinking of going near. It was a voice that sounded like many were all in tune, yet it was from one source. This sort of soul was one many would avoid. A large smile showed the tiny child like figures sharp teeth as it watched it's child. No matter how much he had wanted to take them from the fleshy silly world, it had been far too late for that a long time ago, nor would his friend would have wanted that. But wind wouldn't have done that anyway, because the infant never had down fear of him. There was certainly fears of many things, but not of wind, never of him. Haraka was an adult at this point, but the fae still had a hard time seeing it that way, if an attempt to see the mixed blood as one was ever made at all. Wind was resting in a tree, pitch black eyes holding a loving gaze on a particular figure. It was only a few thousand years ago when that brotherly friend had handed him the only infant that never showed a bit pf fear for the spirit. To not fear him meant to not fear death, not even instinctively.

The fleshy living don't do that the day they're born, not normally. A precious beloved infant that had been abandoned in a way that said those that gave them life hadn't thought of the event at all, if the birth had even been noticed. Perhaps if he had been alone, Wind would have tried to do what a few other sorts of fae had done before and since that time. The genderless being could bring familial love and comforts for the full grown fleshy nearby. They knew how, for there was nobody that knew their son better than Wind himself. This is why they thought and plot, a plan that had been continuing on for so very long. As for the pale ice blue skinned figure being watched nearby? A stew had been brewing, the broth long since made during the start of that day. As it was noon, it meant the stew would be ready soon. The last ingredients with the smallest amount of cooking time had been chopped, prepared, and placed a few minutes ago. He had ground up some flour and chopped some wild fruit he had found in the area and knew to be safe. It was placed into the dough along with a little bit of wild honey once the fruit had been cut finely enough. More flour was placed on his hands before he begun beating the bread dough a bit more with the hands, part of the process of mixing the last ingredients in. The doctor had a warm smile on his face, the sleeves of their grey dress up shirt being rolled up. Today was a day off, William was learning with their sitter, and Haraka was cooking in the middle of a dangerous forest. He was dressed in his white dress up vest, white pants, and dark shoes. Though a bit more loose than the pans he would wear to work, it was still very much a west fiore trading company uniform being worn.

The stew was in a large and thick stoneware pot that had been originally made from a red clay. It's lid was also clay, wood coating all its handles so it could be better handled. It was a sort of cookware not seen by modern kitchens too often. An empty thick glass bottle was sitting beside the glass fold out table. This table had a few old fashion looking metal devices. The ones being used had fuel in them made of fats and things, the burning of this fuel making the heat for the cooking. The only way to change the heat would be to move the item being cooked bearer or further from the burner. The metal item had no gears or any such things in it, it was just circular, metal, and held the fuel in a way that allowed pots to be placed on it fine, the bottom of the center also being raised enough to not burn what it's sitting on. It wasn't exactly a complicated object, nor a machine, but it worked fine for what it was doing. The first one was of course being used to cook the stew, the second one cooking a ginger drink using lemon, ginger root, water, and wild honey. It wasn't a complicated drink, but it was mixing and warming fine. There were two other metal objects for cooking on the table, but they were currently going unused.
"If only every day could be this calm. What does it say about me that it doesn't feel like I can trust trouble to not find me even out here?" Maybe he was a monster, to feel not threatened by the beasts in the forest, but the possible people that might come in. "I need to learn how to enjoy my time off work better..."

The Blood of death kept me breathing. From that fluid birthed a new rhythm.

Love That Brings Danger Empty Re: Love That Brings Danger

Post by Solmar on 14th October 2019, 8:02 pm

While not particularly in any kind of hurry, a dark and hooded figure made his way through the forest region. Chasing down individuals known for their affiliation with a group known as Blighters Vine, the dark guild who had tried taking over part of Tolgalen while clearly having no idea of the resistance they would be meeting there. As various mages had fended off their assault, they seemed to belong to a group of their own which did not condone acts such as killing, which seemed incredibly peculiar to the young mage. After all, when something was sick or twisted beyond return, the kind thing to do was to root it out so no others might suffer because of them. Often, an idea could be compared to a sickness as it grew in potency, spread to other people who would be susceptible to it and grow out either into something great or something dangerous. In the case of these Blighters Vine folk, the latter was clearly the case as they had grossly overestimated their own capabilities and underestimated that of their adversaries.

Now, they were decimated as two of them had been killed, many had been injured and taken to prison or willingly surrendered and got sent to prison as well, though still others had chosen to run away. With regards to the killing, the only reason why but two of them had been murdered was because Solmar had not been allowed to do so to the rest, which really did not sit well with him. Still, as he was in a foreign land he knew little to nothing about, he had chosen to comply with these demands, even though just that had almost pushed him into conflict with the local protectors for thinking themselves above him. If anything, they were equals in most rights, at least until a real fight were to break out where he would be able to prove that he was no underdog. Luckily for everyone, it never came down to that and the siege was broken relatively easily. While the others did not much care for the stragglers, Solmar merely kept his peace before making his way out and hunting them down on his own.

After all, no one would be any the wiser if he were to dispatch them on his own. That said, to him, this seemed like the wise thing to do for the simplest of reasons. If they were to regroup, no one would stop them from trying something like it again. This time though, they could make an attempt on a smaller location like a town or village while planning their attack a lot better than they had before. As proven, these people shared the same illness, the idea that they could take over a place that was not theirs and make it their own. Progressing deeper and deeper into the woods, he found himself enjoying it very little. Normally, he would love being in a place such as this, but having to hunt down filth made it so that he could not revel in nature the way he normally would. At this point, he was just getting angry about having to be angry, and that was never a good thing. So when his nose picked up on something entirely out of the ordinary, at least for a forest, he decided to follow it.

From what he could tell, one the other side of these trees, someone was cooking dinner. Due to the time of day and the possibility that the men and women he chased might not have been aware of them being followed by a bloodhound like Solmar, they might have taken the time to camp out and prepare dinner. Regardless of being right or wrong about his assessment, he wandered through the foliage and gradually made his way out on the other side, which was where the cook would be located if he was to believe his nose and ears. As soon as he popped on out, he would not even bother assessing the situation or how many people he was to be dealing with, knowing that there was not a single mage in Blighters Vine he could not take on. Stating the only question worth asking, he burst out of the treeline and into the open.

"You, what guild do you belong to?"

Haraka calmly looked over towards the stranger that had burst through the greenery, though only long enough to smile and wave a bit. It looked like the person was in a bit of a rush for something, so it was not likely to be related to the mixed blood. "I'm Haraka Omaras of The West Fiore Trading Company. You look to be in a rush, whatever you're up to." His voice had the same gentle quiet sweetness that it always did. Something artificially created over a few thousand years through practice. If a voice could be a non magical defensive device, than that one was certainly the young looking mans most often used defensive non magical skill. Then again you can't pretend to be human when you're physical traits point out so clearly that you're not. "Do you have time to tell me your name and sit down for a bit? The stew is almost done and this bread doesn't use yeast to rise, so it wont need to sit long before cooking." Even if the voice was a sweet illusion, the words behind it were honest and pure. With the dough thoroughly mixed, he started breading and rolling the dough into balls. It didn't take much time or effort, though it would for most others. Sometimes when you practice a skill enough, it just becomes second nature. Wind had stopped singing at this point, black eyes watching the stranger. "Don't mind Wind, he's just protective. His type of spirit can't hurt people anyway." When they aren't corrupted or used by summoners they couldn't, but none of those things applied to the being nearby. Who would think someone that looked so young could be so ancient? Why did the breaths of death tend to look child like? Well, it didn't matter really.

What did matter? Trying to enjoy his break, which included making wonderful food and drink. He gave the ginger drink mix a bit of a stir after making the dough into balls. After that? He moved to a spot next to the table that was empty of plant life, a common thing to find here and there in any forest. Using his magic he made a basic clay oven, then started making bits of wood to stuff in it. For a moment it seemed like Wind not singing might mean creatures might start coming over, until the being decided to get out of the tree. Getting closer to his child was exactly what he needed.
"I have a vegetable stew, a ginger drink, and I might make some fried eggplant if they don't stop poking me so harshly to use them. They're jealous that the carrots were cut into cute shapes last time I cooked with them, but I didn't do anything special with the eggplant." Plants could be strange with their affections, to him at least. Who wants to be made into a pretty food? Who gets jealous over carrots being made into something more adorable? Apparently plants can. But it was still a very nice thing. It wasn't bad to be poked to try to be more creative with something. Of course he had no idea that all the wonderful smells would attract far more people than someone who looked in a rush to find something. Of course the group he didn't know about would eventually come. Though not right this second, the foods wondrous scent was an ideal lure to bring out those who were hungry and on the run.

While he could clearly tell that something was going on around here, namely with this person, it did not seem like he was making himself appear as a threat. There was something about his voice that made Solmar believe that something here was out of the ordinary, not how it was supposed to be. However, since he sensed no clear signs of hostility or killing intent from this person, there was really no purpose in treating the guy like a threat. That said though, he still would treat him with a bit of distrust, at least until he could fully rule out the possibility of him being a spy for the dark mages or being a dark mage himself. Since he called himself a member of the trading company, the young black haired magus was put at easy a bit more as the members of Blighters Vine were not all that aware of the guild being present in Tolgalen at the time of their attack, meaning the guy had either overheard it in town or was actually a member of it. Right now though, that did not matter a whole lot.

What did matter was that he was invited to have a seat and have something to eat. Given his own nearly insatiable appetite that allowed him to eat pretty much whenever and wherever, part of him wanted to see what this guy’s cooking skills were like, though it wasn’t as simple as that for him. As he pondered further on what to do, the singing had stopped as the strange creature looked him over, apparently being called “Wind”. Though the name itself seemed quite simplistic in nature, there was a chance that it was hiding something more powerful underneath the simplicity. Deciding to leave it at that as it didn’t really impress him all that much at this point, he coalesced a bit of his magic into the palm of his hand. Though it might have given one the impression that he was up to something assertive, he instead pointing his arm straight up into the air and firing the compressed ball of fire into it. Once it reached a certain height, he snapped his fingers and caused the ball to explode like a flare. Though it might have been a long shot, there was a chance that it would pull some stragglers to him.

Hmm… if your cooking is any good, I’ll consider staying around for a bit, though I’ve still got more to do before the day ends. With a bit of luck, my query will come to me.

Making it very clear that there was a very realistic chance that he wouldn’t be staying due to the fact that he was quite busy, it was also no surprise to many that Solmar wasn’t much of a vegetarian. He enjoyed meat, believing that everything else was merely a side dish unless there was no meat to be found, rather than eating vegetables and the like because he enjoyed them so much. That said, if this strange person who seemed to talk to his food before preparing it was any good as a cook, that just might change. The past couple of years had taught him to be open to things and be less dismissing before actually giving things a shot, so that would be exactly what he’d do, even though that did not make the situation any less odd. Though Solmar could also communicate with nature, he had never bothered conversing with a vegetable for obvious reasons. It was, after all, but a portion of a larger whole, so it would be like talking to someone’s finger when they could be talking to the actual person. For now though, he’d keep his cool and just go along with things as they came at him.

If you’re truly with the company, I’ll have some of whatever is ready for now. I’ve been chasing some loons for a while now and its left my stomach rumbling for the past hour, so make it snappy!

    Haraka Omaras

Haraka looked up at the golden yellow eyed man, giving a bit of a frown. Did this person think the half ice dragon was here to serve? No, that probably wasn't the case if they were hunting for trouble. If the flare indicated something, it seemed he ether didn't care that Haraka was there, or suspicious that he was one of those being tracked. It wouldn't be the first nor likely last that he was suspected of things for one reason or another. At least in this case it seemed to be as simple as the wrong place at the wrong time? But it didn't make the young looking man feel any better. It was in his nature to avoid causing trouble with how long the mans existence itself had often been seen as a problem in itself. Now he was here, having to point things out that could cause a fuss in order to be responsible. "You don't tell someone is from the guild by ordering them around to try to see if you can shake them up! Ask to see their guild mark instead and introduce yourself instead of barking orders." The voice was deep and silky smooth, though certainly not a tone he had intended to let out. His real voice wasn't exactly the picture perfect tone of gentleness and it could be hard to learn how to loosen up when always being used to feeling weary of watchful eyes.

But it wouldn't be good to tell someone to ask for something than not show it yourself, right? of course. So he undid the first three buttons of his dress shirt before pulling at the fabric. This was only done to it and his vest until the right shoulder and his guild mark was flashed. This was brief, but more skin than the elder Omaras was interested in flashing at anyone today at any point. Anything loose was buttoned back or adjusted after that was over with Was it getting easier to flash skin like his bare shoulders? He had to be careful, otherwise it might become more comfortable to wear less. Don't get too used to showing off skin! It was now back to food, finishing the wood in the clay oven off then lighting it up after. It was almost ready for the bread! Next he made a wooden peel, the flat shovel like baking tool for moving things like breads in and out. After that the mixed blood moved back to the glass table that had the stew and drink on it next. The man created a wooden serving spoon after finishing with the clay oven before pointing it at the other a bit.
"I'm not your servant and I don't need to share my food. That being said, you can serve yourself some of what's done so far."

The tone of voice was certainly annoyed, but the sweet, quiet, and gentle coating had returned to the mans voice. But even after saying these things, the young looking man still dug in the large white bag of his, pulling out some glass bowls, cups, and silverware. Though it looked mostly like normal glass, it was far from delicate. The small tiny bubbles spread through it was one of the few hints that it wasn't normal delicate glass. The serving spoon was dropped on the table next to the stew. Dark sapphire blue eyes looked back over towards the inside of the clay oven. It looked ready now, so he started using the peel to put the balls of dough in one by one. Should he cook some eggplant too? Maybe another time when he had ideas for 'cute' foods. The man was more into flavor over appearance anyway. The drink was done, so it was time to move it to it's a different resting space. Grabbing the large empty jug, the mixed blood started to slowly pour the drink mixture into it. This was done very carefully, not one drop spilling to anywhere besides inside of the glass container.

"The finest of foods is like many things in life, it can't be rushed. Honestly your attitude makes me wish something was being less close to being finished." But of course things don't always go the way that you want them to. Everything was ether finished, or almost finished. The man hadn't even told the doctor his name but had already started barking orders. Make it snappy? He wasn't a waiter anymore, nor a bartender! Once the pouring was finished with it left the ice blue skinned person without anything to do with their hands, not until the bread was finished. Could he just enjoy the food? Not really, it didn't feel like a full meal yet, but he wasn't sure what to make next. It wasn't something he was going to voice out loud at the moment though.

Love That Brings Danger Empty Re: Love That Brings Danger

Post by Solmar on 6th November 2019, 6:20 pm

Guess you’re not one of those vermin, they wouldn’t have had the guts to speak up in fear of dying like some of their fellow bottom-feeders. That said, they were aware of some of the things I could do, whereas you… probably don’t. So I’ll excuse the rudeness, this time at least.

Entirely blocking out the thought of his own rudeness, he wasn’t so much used to asking things of people. Solmar was used to ordering people around as the ones he dealt with up until now were tavern or store owners who did not mind him being to the point since he was paying for it with actual money. Knowing what they were capable of, he never really had a whole lot of respect for people as they in turn had no respect for things such as nature or animals. Most of them behaved like the only things that mattered in this world were the things they personally owned, which was why so many of them put up requests for jobs from capable mages. At this point in time, he couldn’t even tell how many requests had passed through his fingers, or how many of them he had passed up because they were entirely self-serving and came at the expense of someone or something else. Killing animals, rooting out plants or routing a monster that was being a bother to people. When he looked into things, they always had more going on than one might realize at first.

As such, most of the run of the mill mages would go in head first, ignorantly cutting down creatures, monsters and portions of natural life so they could earn themselves a bit of extra status within specific social circles while lining their pockets with a few more jewels. No one thought about how someone building a home near the monsterlands and away from society might attract animals or monsters that had been traveling through that area for years might not be the fault of the creature, but of the selfish idiot that just had to go and live there. No one thought about how that person that built a summer home in the forests that was ravaged by a bear attack might have been at fault, instead of the bear that called that part of the woods home, part of its territory. No, all people cared about was their own self, their wealth and their status. As such, he really could not care a whole lot about being rude to them at times, especially if it meant flushing out potential stragglers of the dark mage guild he was chasing. When the strange cook showed a guild emblem that at least looked similar to the ones he had seen, there was no longer any doubt about the man being a dark mage.

For what it’s worth, I never claimed you were my servant. But if you’re going to serve up food, I reckon you should make it snappy before certain… vermin, makes its way over here and ruins your little cooking session… and you asked if I had to sit down and eat, so… there’s that.

While it all sounded quite cocky and at times even sarcastic, that was not the intention. His earlier flare was, after all, meant to draw dark mages to him as he hoped that they would consider it a place where they might regroup. With the scent of food and the low visibility from the tree line, they might see it as if a camp had already been made with people waiting for them to make their return, as could be expected from fellow guild members. Even if it was in fact a dark guild, he imagined members of the same guild shared a similar mindset and therefore considered themselves friends… or at the very least useful allies. People were funny like that. Still, something about this guy made Solmar think that he didn’t like him very much. While it didn’t really matter a whole lot to him what this guy thought about him, or about anything else for that matter, the young black haired mage thought it only fair to warn the guy about what might be coming sooner or later. Though they were of little to no consequence to him and his magic, which had blasted two of them out of existence before they could even bat an eye, or before any of the local mages could stop him from doing it as “killing was not allowed here”, it was still too early to know if this guy might be able to handle himself against them or not.

While they might be a lot hungrier than I am, I imagine they’ll be a lot less nice, especially to people like you. After all, they did come here to conquer the very soil beneath your feet. So… how about that food?

Haraka started to laugh. Why? He wasn't sure himself. The thought of him having guts? It was strange. What king of person did he become to earn comments like that? "I lived for thousands of years as a coward without any magic before my health allowed it a little over two years ago. My talons, wings, and all other less than person features put me in danger just for existing. I'm not sure I can accept being called less than spineless, I've just gained a strange sense of pride since joining the west fiore trading company almost two years ago." The wings weren't out in the open, but wasn't that the point? But of course it wasn't just a strange pride that had caused the change in personality from the start of things. Be it the man wanted to admit it or not, he had courage now. It wasn't perfect, but nobodies was. But now the green curly haired spirit strolled up to their person, propping itself into the young looking mans lap. Thoughts of when the their child was a baby briefly popped in the beings mind, causing a farm smile that certainly curled too far for it to look normal. "My child is mine, You'll have to look elsewhere if you want to scare him by existing." The laughing had died down pretty quick after the spirit had sad in the mixed bloods lap.

Wasn't he just laughing at how silly it was to think himself anything but a coward? But here his parental figure was speaking was speaking strangely. The idea of someone ruining the cooking soured his mood a bit. Still, it made sense.
"Serve yourself food, I already put down everything you need to do it. This is wind, one of three elemental spirits I'm bonded with. Hes a breath of death type of wind spirit. Don't mind things he says." He didn't like the idea of someone ruining the food, or destroying the land. Conquer the soil? the man sighed before moving a bit, not moving the child sized being from his lap. There wasn't a hint of any sort of fear one would have as a natural reaction to this sort of piece of nature that wind represented. The fae was just treated sort of like a weird family member. Then again they weren't anything to fear if the creature loved you, which would be very hard to get them to do. Winds type of creature came in a limited number for a reason, as well as purposely built to be naturally indifferent. They didn't just say things because they felt like it, nor did they love just anyone. Even if the doctor wasn't the most powerful man out there, he was certainly special enough to have a family bond with a being that wasn't built to easily make such connections. Looking in the oven briefly, he poked a bit at the breads using the peel. Were they done?

No, but they needed to be moved a bit so that they would cook evenly on all sides. He made a face before finally pushing himself closer back to the glass table.
"Fine I will serve your lazy ass some food, but only because I would rather have it eaten than to argue so long that a group comes in and ruins things. Food is horrible to waste. Now, will you tell me your name already?" With that he grabbed the two glass bowls already out on the table. They were both set up properly now, each one having spoon set inside and a cup to it's side. One set was closer to Haraka, the other closer to the stranger. The both burners fires were put out before he started to fill both bowls with food. Did the stranger want an overfilled bowl? Who knows, but if they were too lazy to do it themselves than they had no right to bitch about it later. Both bowls were filled to their max capacity before the pale ice blue skinned man grabbed the large jug full of the ginger drink. Each cup was filled to near max capacity. Why? That was how the elder Omaras liked it and this guy wouldn't pour his own drink. With that done, the jug was put back down, then lidded. After that? He pulled himself from the table one more time before using the peel to take the cooked sweet bread rolls. He took a few out at a time until they were all out. Now the meal felt complete.

The smell of love, time, and effort all working in glorious harmony was wonderful. The bread had no sugar, save for what was naturally in the fruit. For that reason it wasn't a desert bread, but it was still a little sweet. They all sat bundled together in a pile on the glass table, the heat not bothering the tables glass.
"You can grab some bread once it cools off." Taloned fingers wrapped around the bowl meant for himself before tucking it just a bit closer to his person. After that? He started to eat. The bread would make the meal complete, yes, but it was for after the stew was eaten. Well that was how Haraka felt about things.

    Solmar.

Speaking his name rather plainly, he figured he could at least do that much to meet the guy halfway. He had been asking for it repeatedly after all, and there was really no harm in the guy knowing who he was anyway. At least, he didn’t think there was. Having heard all of the things the guy had said, there were a few things about it that stood out more than the rest, or maybe they just stood out because he had personally decided that those were the things he wanted to focus his attention on. One of these things was the fact that this guy claimed to have lived for a thousand years, which was in itself quite hard to believe by someone who hadn’t even been alive for twenty years yet. Knowing that this guy was at the very least capable of using magic, it made him wonder if he had learned any potent forms of magic during that period of time. Given the magical properties of his own that had been uncovered over the course of a few months, it made sense to him that this guy had a lot more of it than he had.

At least, that was what he chose to believe. If someone like him were to live for a thousand years, chances were that there wouldn’t be a single soul in the world strong enough to beat him in a straight up battle, which would make the world a rather boring place, especially since he’d most likely had seen every form of magic being used at least once. As seeing new magic was more or less something he truly enjoyed, perhaps the only thing he enjoyed more was getting to pick it apart in his head and figure out how it worked and how it would best be utilized. Another remotely interesting thing was the spirit he had seen before, but had not been paying a whole lot of attention to yet. He had met quite a few different fae during the time he spent in the Greenscape. That, and since he was himself a sort of fae made it so that seeing other kinds of lesser fae or even others such as himself wasn’t as much of a shock anymore. It had something to do with the whole “been there, done that” thing some people sometimes brought up as a demeaning way of saying something wasn’t interesting to them.

Though it wasn’t so much that it was not interesting to Solmar, it was more that he had gotten somewhat used to them, just like how he had gotten used to being around people and animals to the point where it was no longer special. When after some struggle, the guy finally brought him some stew and told him that they could have bread once it had cooled down, Solmar figured that he would rather have some now. Since fire and burning meant nothing to a fire demon slayer, he took a piece of hot bread, dipped it into the stew and took a bite. Being the kind of blunt instrument that he was, especially in terms of speaking, he was the first to say it when something tasted terrible or not. In this case, the stew tasted good enough while the bread made it better. Chomping down quite quickly, he was never one to waste a whole lot of time when it came to food. With him, it rarely ever got the chance to get cold. In between taking another bite and finishing what was in his mouth, he turned his attention towards the old guy, just staring at him for a moment without saying anything as he was formulating a sentence or two.

So… seeing as you’re some old geezer, that must mean that you’ve managed to gather up quite a bit of magical power over the years right? Do you have any faith in your magic and yours spells? Or did you just get old without really, you know, getting stronger and smarter down in some kind of cave or something.

Once he finished with his question, he returned to eating his stew now that he had finished his bread. Though his tone would not suggest it, he was actually quite interested in what kind of stuff this guy could do and if it was in any way as cool or as good as he imagined the magic of a thousand year old mage to be. If it in some way failed to live up to what he believed it might be, he would most certainly bring it up too, though he really just wanted to see what the guy could do. It was for that same reason that he kind of hoped that the stragglers from Blighters Vine would get here soon, so the man would need to defend himself and show Solmar exactly what he was capable of. Come to think of it, that would most likely be the best way to see exactly what he could do without him holding back. People rarely did so when their life was on the line after all.

Oh, that reminds me. The food is pretty good.

The mixed blood took a break in eating, a bit of tenseness leaving him. With a name learned it felt a bit like they were getting a little somewhere. "It' nice to meet you Solmar." It wasn't expected, but not shocking to see them grab the piping fresh and hot bread. There were certainly a fair amount of people better with heat than the doctor was. The action wouldn't lead the young looking man to suddenly grab the bread, that would still burn him. After the brief pause, the half dragon started to eat again. The textures went together well with the flavors, the seasoning worked with everything. Everything felt comfortable again, until he was around a third of the way finished with it. The younger of the two had already finished their own food and had even started saying some 'interesting' things. So now the man took a pause from eating, taking a drink from the ginger drink in his cup to clear the throat a bit better.

People had certainly doubted his age in the past, or simply not really commented on it. Getting called geezer felt a little fresh in responses.
"I'm only 6,804 years, I'll be 6,805 years old next year on February 13th. That's not old-" There was a pause, because he knew it was technically old even for a dragon. "-for a lot of beings. I'm not those things, but it doesn't change... never mind. Fine, I'm a geezer." He wasn't going to win this, so it was better to give up while his foot was still metaphorically jammed down the throat. There was no coming back from this, he was now officially the old guy that tried to argue that a few thousand years old wasn't 'that' old. Desperately using his own birthday like that would prove something hadn't helped either. At least the rest of the comments Solmar didn't make him feel bad, but it certainly poked on a topic that the man didn't talk about unless it was addressed by someone else in some way, or the information became important.

"I also said that I was incapable of using magic until a little over two years ago, that wasn't a joke. My body was healthy, tall, and strong and my blood practically pours magic in itself with potency, but I have a weak and cracked soul that was created by a spell that used to cover my entire home country. It was a spell that helped make sure the land wasn't melted by the added heat to the land that humanity brought when they moved there. Some cracks in the deeper areas of my soul are in the area that effect your bodies natural aging process. There are other cracks that do other things to my health, but none of its visual."

This was an uncomfortable topic, but he didn't want the stranger to think that they were sitting with some titan of great power. But things didn't have to all be about power, right? No more thinking about the people that couldn't return, or the affects of his souls health that was easy to hide. It was so easy to hide that it made things easier to pretend that it was alright. Nobody was hunting him down, nobody ever tried to kill him, and he was healthy. Those were all not true, but it was nice to just feel that way. Even if it was for a sort time, it really helped easy his mind. "I make stoneware cook sets, glass materials native to my homeland, alcohols, teas, and have practiced cooking for the majority of my life. Tracking was something my father taught me the basics of, so I've practiced that a lot too... Getting healthy has allowed my magic to get stronger, but don't expect anything amazing from me. Would you like to try some of my healing spells though? They're edible, if you're still hungry."

Love That Brings Danger Empty Re: Love That Brings Danger

Post by Solmar on 10th November 2019, 9:41 am

So I take it that means you’re not human either. That’s cool, I’m not either, though most people can either not tell or simply don’t care.

And that was exactly how he liked it. He was not human, but he looked human in just about every way, so no one really looked at him like he was different. They treated him differently because he behaved differently. Choosing to be out in nature instead of living in a house was one of those things that made people think of him as strange. The same went about him constantly traveling around Fiore and other portions near to it as no one really knew what he was up to when he was traveling. But none of that really mattered much, he didn’t like most people anyway, so if they wanted to think of him as some oddity, that was fine with him. He’d be outliving them all, which was always a good thing to keep in mind. Speaking of outliving others, when the guy tried making a point out of his age, it seemed that he was way older than a thousand years as he had previously stated. Being several thousands of years old, it seemed that he had never really thought about the age thing much before Solmar had brought it up.

Coming to terms with the fact that he was, well, old, he next shared a story regarding how he was from another place than Fiore or Tolgalen, which were more or less the only places on Earthland Solmar himself was really aware of. That said, he didn’t doubt that there was probably a lot more out there, though he hadn’t been there yet, so he did not really care about it all that much. Had he not been to the Greenscape, he would not have been able to understand the concept of what it meant to have one’s blood be the magic that kept a place operational. He had after all seen how an earthly entity more or less kept an entire dimension of natural life going almost on its own, which was why he could imagine the strain it might put on someone. Though he could understand that, he never really understood the workings of a soul as it was something he had never really seen before. While he had seen ghosts and spirits, for some reason, he did not count those things as being what souls were. It was a rather hard to grasp topic, so he figured he would just leave it for what it was.

Well that depends entirely on what kind of healing spells you’re capable of. As things are right now, I’ve got nothing but a few cuts and bruises, so I could probably do without. Still, I’d like to see what you can do. Especially with what’s coming and all.

Speaking the truth, there really wasn’t a whole lot about him that needed tending to as he usually healed up quite well when given the time and rest in which to do so. Lately though, it was as if he had been rolling from one fight into the next with very little time between them. Up until now, he had always managed to come out of things alive when others were less lucky. To many of those that had perished along the way, he felt he owed it to keep going and keep fighting, even when doing so without really taking a break might mean that he would be joining them one of these days. Not really knowing how to stop himself as there was something inside of his very being that kept pushing him onward towards the next foe, it was at times like these that he would make the most out of what little resting time he had. Filling up his bowl of stew and going right back to eating, he would just hear out whatever it was this guy had to say about himself. After all, the topic had changed to magic, likely a magic he had not seen yet up until now, meaning he would be paying attention no matter what.

    Haraka Omaras

This was the first time in his life that someone who wasn't blind couldn't immediately tell he wasn't human. Humans simply didn't come in blue shades, not healthy ones anyway. Well in any case the mixed blood knew that there were more than enough features on his person that pointed to being plainly not human. Solmars lack of human genetics wasn't really clear by looking, though the golden eye color was unusual. "I don't know what to think of someone that might think a human would have long pointed ears, horns, talons, a blue sclera, and pale ice blue skin."
This was certainly an honest statement. What do you think of someone like that after getting judged for it more than enough? Even if it didn't really happen since joining the guild, it wasn't exactly not noticed either. So he sighed a bit before eating more food. The warmth, flavors, and textures helped the young looking man clear their head. To call the individual different would be putting it a bit too simply.
"I'm half ice dragon and half demonic giant deep sea mantis shrimp." It was an odd combination, but one he felt that worked.
    Though,
"My demon side is more a disease I don't want to remove since it holds the shards together. I have a natural partial immunity to it so you wont see it effect my personality so long as I don't get hungry." It was a strange thing to admit out loud. When first joining the West Fiore Trading Company the demon half wasn't even mentioned by the man. Now? He just dissected it in an honest but slightly not so flattering light.

"I focus in order to look this humanoid. Some wings and a tail comes out when I'm not trying to hide anything. I do have a full dragon form, it always feels like it's trying to get out of my skin a bit." Did that make any sense to say? But it was the best the ice blue skinned person new how to say it. How often was how shifting forms felt described? The last one was certainly one he still had issues with, but the way he worded things had unintentionally given it away. He  talked about the in between state as something natural, meaning it was something easier to be in than the one he was in now despite the similarities. The dragon forms description?
It was merely called the animal hiding inside, a suggestion that it had to be held back. This could mean it was his most natural state. What do you say to someone who reacts that way towards their most true form? Haraka didn't see it that way though. It was the choice to be a person above being an animal. Eyes stared at the nearly empty bowl briefly before grabbing his cup still mostly full of ginger drink.
"I was born with medium like abilities, it's what my mother used to connect me to plants. The ones I use? Those are created by my bonds with the soul of a dead plant that's taken residence in my soul and the use of both their energy and my magic.
It means nearly every plant I use in magic are ones I've already met in person in one way or another. There is one berry that was never a plant before? It's more like I put a bunch of wine ingredients together and made a strangely healing and very boozy wine berry. I couldn't figure out how to get the alcohol qualities out of it." The drink was poured down his mouth. The wondrous tastes lingered and danced in his system.

It was a wonderful drink. Everything felt so nice.
"I can't force any spirit to do anything, they listen out of love. I was born with the useless title of being loved by nature, meaning natural creatures and things are less likely to feel inclined to do harm to me, or are more likely to be fond of me." It didn't do anything for his magic power wise, but it was why he had so many plants in the first place. In a sense that meant that every spell that was powerful made that bond all the more some proof that love could give you strength? It seemed just before Haraka could say another thing that his glass cup was dropped.
A burning sensation had the hand. While what remained in his cup had been spilled, nothing was broken yet. Things were spoken, he could tell that, but there was a deep distaste for the waste of food or drink. Their gender changed, her more aggressive and confident female side shifting out in response to the anger. Her long shrimp tail came out as she jumped to her feet away from the table, the large draconian wings coming out around the same time. Did the strangers that attacked say things? Very likely, but she wasn't listening.
The person firing off fire spells? Probably the person that burned her arm! So she focused a bit, ice beginning to form on the end of her tail as well as one of her arms. The woman ducked an attack before hitting the person with an ice punch, then proceeding to flip her body back after. The flip landed her to stand on her arms briefly, but also allowed her long tail to slap the stranger and fling them into a different attacker.

"Don't make me waste anything!" Rage over a drink? No, it certainly wasn't rage, not until she noticed that the stoneware pot was broken. That was how they wanted to be? In that case she showed her rage by making a seed and tossing it in the persons direction. The seed burst to life akin to a live grenade going off. It traveled to the closest source of heat there, which happened to be the person it was tossed at. The prickly vines rushed over as if bursting with a great hunger, quickly wrapping themselves around the person in thick layers. The hungry friend didn't do much immediate damage, but it was definitely painful and made it hard to move. But that wasn't enough, was it?
She rushed over towards the person, lightening charging in one of her arms, blue salt crystals forming on the other. While the stranger seemed to have been helped out of the hungering vines by an ally, whatever relief they may have felt was soon gone. The color from the attackers face faded a bit before moving back a bit. The sheer anger on her and the bold willingness to ruthlessly attack was certainly terrifying to watch, even if it wouldn't make her magic any stronger than it was right now. Both assault and battery both hit the fleeing mage at the same time, hitting them both with large blue salt crystals as well as lightening.
After that? She tossed the man. The woman had been planning to do more, but she was hit back by someone else. They felt stronger, but this wasn't the doctors side that would care as much about that, especially not while upset. Then again an upset Haraka was never good in either side at holding back once something snapped.

She tossed a cloud of salt in the mans face. It was a magic-less and cheap tactic to blind someone, but she didn't seem to care about this. She grabbed into her chest, quickly pulling out a lantern. It was the size of a heart and was beating like one, but that didn't last long. The item quickly changed to the shape of an eku that looked to be made out of aquamarine gemstone. What did she do with this beautiful and elegant looking weapon? Start beating the superior as ruthlessly as possible in hopes that they would get out of her way sooner. Her main target was still the person that destroyed the pot.
"I MADE THAT POT! Do you have any idea how long and how many steps it takes to transform clay into stoneware?! Wasting food and destroying my dishware! Out of my way!"

The Blood of death kept me breathing. From that fluid birthed a new rhythm.

Love That Brings Danger Empty Re: Love That Brings Danger

Post by Solmar on 20th November 2019, 4:21 pm

... Demonic.. Deep sea mantis... Shrimp?

Snickering a bit after uttering these words after they had been spoken by this person who, apparently, was a mixture of draconic and demonic blood, he only stopped when the expression he got was one of utter seriousness. Not once had he ever heard all of these things put together in the same sentence, nor had he ever even considered the possibility of it all. It made his active mind work overtime in trying to figure out how a demon shrimp would have a child with a dragon, up until the point where he blocked it out of his mind on account of it being somewhat weird to him. From what he could tell, it was true that having a demonic side could be viewed as a disease, which was the way this guy clearly saw it. In his own case, the fact that he was as much a Fomorian as Sidhé kept him balanced, making him strangely human in the process. After all, the Sidhé part of him wanted him to protect and preserve life in most of its forms, while the Fomorian side was violent and hostile, wanting to rid itself of those that stood in his way.

Having never really thought about it in such a manner, the two parts of him created the same duality that existed in many, if not most human beings. That said, he still felt like he was better than them, not taking to owning any lands or building a home for himself as that would make him come across as a hypocrite. While on the subject, it seemed odd to him that this person… dragon, would make such an effort at trying to conceal what he truly was. Though Solmar really did not have the right to bring it up on account of how he too was something that looked human but could at times seem somewhat monstrous if he wasn’t careful, he still felt it odd. After all, he looked human no matter what he did, at least up until the moment when the right conditions were met and his eyes and teeth changed. This guy had to constantly focus just to look the way he did, which seemed like the kind of thing he would personally not want to struggle with. If one was born looking one way, it seemed idiotic to want to be something they really weren’t.

Being loved by nature is not a useless title, unless you choose to make it exactly that. To be loved by nature is perhaps the greatest blessing in this world, as nature is the one thing that reigns supreme. People tend to believe that they will live forever, though the only thing that lasts until this world eventually perishes will be nature. Life will come back in different forms, shapes and sizes, so to be loved by something as pure as that is not a useless thing at all. At least I don’t think so.

Sharing a bit of what he personally believed was true, both in this world and in the one he had seen a few weeks ago, nature was one of those things that possessed a power no human being could ever hope to rival. So between the guy explaining how his magic worked and talking about his so called useless title, there were a few other things his ears managed to pick up on. People were approaching, several footsteps, hopefully those that believed they would end up finding safe haven here. Knowing exactly what kind of people these were, he waited for them to get within his line of sight, which meant he would also be put in theirs once they left the tree line and the cover of the foliage. Once they did so and noticed the man that had been relentlessly chasing them for some time now, they did not waste a lot of time on muttering any words. Instead, spells started being flung around, showing that there was really no intention of talking to the two mages that had been sitting around there. Not really having to make much of an effort to evade the attacks, he got up from his seat and inhaled deeply.

Sucking in various fire based spells, he belched loudly before dropping his cloak to the ground and cracking his neck, loosening his body and getting into attack mode. Punching his fist into the palm of his other hand, he was ready to crack some skulls, at least until he noticed that something had changed to his cook. Aside from a pair of wings and a strange tail sprouting out of him, he could swear that the guy had suddenly become female. Raising his brow in disbelief as he had no idea what kind of physical traits one possessed when they were of both demon shrimp and dragon blood, Solmar could only imagine that this was one of them. Taking a moment to reassess the situation now that the person he had been with for the past ten minutes had changed into a different person entirely, he felt like he needed to be aware of what he could expect. As someone who had been with and around demons before, he knew how they had … mood swings. In his case, when his darker side had taken over, people died. It did not matter whether they were good or bad people, all they needed was to be close to him when it happened, and they would cease to breathe. When he approached Yona and she attacked him in her own demon-fueled state, it seemed that her urge to drain him of the blood flowing throughout his body was almost stronger than her sanity.

Spotting the ice magic that he… she, was now using, it seemed that there was more to this person than using plant based food magic as had previously been stated. Finding the diversity in magic quite interesting, he wanted to see more of it. Deciding between actually helping in the fight or simply seeing what this guy… girl… woman, could do, the biggest part of him wanted to see what kind of other magic spells she could cast. He had seen water spells being used in the past, as well as earth based spells and even some lightning, though ice was entirely new to him. And as things were, he had always considered ice to be the kind of thing he would want to know more about so that he could figure out how to properly utilize it and add it to his own arsenal of useful spells. Activating his magic zone, he had an easy time scanning the people that entered into the six hundred meter range of it. Being able to see each and every person around them now, he could make an accurate assessment of what he was dealing with, which also related to the man turned woman shrimp dragon person. From what he could tell, he would be able to handle everyone here, at least as long as he kept his head in the game and kept from getting cocky.

Knowing his limitations and strengths quite well, he would stand back and keep his eyes on the situation. And when he said eyes, he meant he would keep his magic sense on the entire zone to accurately assess everything that happened. Keeping tabs on the magics being used, steps being taken and potentially dangerous situations brewing, the mage would step in when he needed to. For now though, that time had not yet come.

    Haraka Omaras

The eku was her most powerful spell, one that was probably better used by a calm minded person. It was most effective when used correctly, being directly affected by the skill and how naturally and calmly one could use them. This was not something that could have described Harakas female side in any fight as a whole. Her blunt and quick attacks did less damage than the eku could, but the speed and brutal aim made it harder for the opponent to defend themselves. Each side of the pale ice blue skinned person had good and bad sides, as well as spells that were better used by a specific side as well. This meant any spells that are designed for someone who thinks and plans were likely ones designed with the male side. Why that side? It was the calmer one that thought things out more. It was more than a little fitting then that the magic was as much of a mess as he was. There was barely any focus in personality or directions because both sides had two different directions, despite being from the same exact person. Perhaps the differences in personality and fighting style in the two stemmed from the many health issues the person had. It was undeniable that there would be personality related issues to a cracked soul. It was something that echoed through every other aspect to some extent. It wasn't as obvious to notice as a physical injury, but there were certainly clues to the poor health spread out in his entire person, no matter how healthy their body looked. If there was anything that could get the level mind back however, it seemed that Solmar had a knack at getting under her skin to some degree.

Was it on purpose? At the start of everything involving him that day it seemed that way without a doubt. At the moment it was likely to be on purpose, possibly. Not enough to get the doctor to loose their temper, but certainly enough to get her attention. Soon enough their temper had calmed, their male side returning. As frustrated and upset as the elder Omaras was, he couldn't allow his mind to get lost like that again. It was hard for the man to get his mind back under control, but there wasn't really any choice at the moment was there? But of course the change had caused a pause of movement, giving the other mage a chance to defend himself. A black spell was fired, a quickly charged wind spell blocking the majority of the damage. There was only one wind spell Haraka had that could be used that quickly, it was winds gift. While it hadn't fully defended the half demon from the entire dark spell, it had at least deflected most of the damage, the remaining bits being not as effective in general due to the West Fiore Trading Company members thick hide. 'Winds Gift' had a pale color, a wind that had quickly gathered in one hand before it's use. The speed of its use didn't change that it also had required a lot of focus. Another issue was that if you give into the mind breaking screams of horror it made, then it couldn't be used anymore until one mentally recovered. The sounds every wind spell made from him only became worse the more it was used, the unnerving sounds from the memories of the dead would build up bit by bit to test the mind.

The male took a slow deep breath as they moved into a stance, taking full grip of the shimmering dimly glowing eku that looked to be carved from blue aquamarine stone. The enemy wasn't as disoriented as many would have been from hearing the screams of the dead from a defensive wind spell, but that wasn't something that seemed to have phased or shocked. The reasons for that was very likely something far less wholesome than Harakas, the mans reasons being far more wholesome than one might expect when involving deadly fae like beings that the living should typically avoid. The leader only paused when noticing the child like being nearby. Wind certainly looked child like, but the black eyes were a good hint that the being was related to the dead. The spirit was upset over no longer getting to sit on their child, a frustration in its dark eyes. Despite that he was smiling, sitting, and singing quietly to itself in their strange voice that was made of the voices of all the dead it had helped come to rest. Most didn't dabble in dark enough lore or information to know exactly what the wind spirit was unless they did a lot of research on either fae, or information revolving around the dead. The eku swung at the mage, whom stepped back before firing a black spell that shaped itself in the form of large sh couldn't move away fast enough to avoid damage, one of the spikes going into his side. The magic from it felt less like a natural venom being injected and more like something that acted similar.

Whatever this was couldn't be good, the pain it gave felt like an electrical spreading through the system. If this had been not too long ago this might have caused some amount of panic. Before joining this guild the man hadn't exactly been the best at dealing with emergency situations, nor did they have any spells to deal with kicking unknown things out of their blood stream. Of course not long after pulling the object out there was a fire spell that hit. Of course this was still a group of more than one mage and the man still wasn't the best at fighting groups. One thing at a time, be patient and plan. Go with the flow and try to change with it to avoid getting crushed by those tides. The best spell in minimizing damage would be refreshing, but that was an ice breath related spell. This used to lead the man to think it couldn't be used on himself, but right now he was feeling a bit more flexible in thinking. All he had to do was aim his mouth at the lower half of his body, right? It was the most fitting spell, as purity couldn't force anything out that was created by a spell. A healing one meant to slow its progression as well as heal damage done would be the best he could do. The first things he needed to do was to make sure he was still able to fight to his best, the second was to try to get the group of enemies more under control before more of the people decided to use spells on him together, which was looking more and more likely to happen with how the others were moving. The mans mouth opened, cold gathering outside of his body as to took in a slow and deep breath.

Solstice slumber was used, a thin layer of ice coating the area as a light spray of pale powdery purple snow coated him in the front from the chest down. A thick layer of snow coated everything, causing most in the group to fall asleep. It was a tiring welcoming cold thick blanket of soft snow that pulled those with less power than the doctor to fall into a temporary sleep. The wound in his side closed, though the darkness injected had from the corrupted mage had only been slowed down.
"Why is someone with such a pure essence bound with an essence of death?" The half ice dragon was pretty positive the dark mage expected either no answer, or something stupid and naive. Of course that made him want to make the stronger force look like a fool for even assuming there was something 'pure' about him. A dark smile twisted in place of the gentle one that had been there before, a dark humor shimmering in the jaded persons eyes. "He's my godfather, Only a naive fool thinks anyone can tame a deep raw vessel of nature. The same kind that would fall for my voice and smile." A bitter sort of laughter left his person, the deep and silky voice that left those soft lips sounding far less 'pure' and 'harmless'. The dark mage took out their own weapon, a cracking sound being made when it struck to parry the ekus attack. it made Omaras wince a bit, but it only caused him to side step a bit and continue their attempt to take the person down.

At least solstice slumber had slowed down the enemies that hadn't been put to sleep, even the ones stronger than himself. This and the speed boost the mixed blood had gained from the cold in the area had made the weapon clashing at least help him be a little faster than the other. He had the patience and training to ignore the bites of pain the dark mages weapon caused, the long game being kept in mind. This was how the dark mages weapon eventually ended up getting hit from their hand, the weapon striking the dark mage in the neck. There was a slight pause after a crack. It was a bit more effective than he had expected, though it was still the end result the young looking man had expected. Haraka didn't like killing other people, even when he knew it had to be done. Certain people were definitely a bit easier to attack, but it all still ended with a life wasted. Everyone has choices, even when it doesn't feel that way. The choices only tend to vanish if nature has grasp onto you deeply enough and its plans for you don't match what you think will happen. Those thoughts left him feeling more than a little sour, as well as the fact that there were still other dark mages not put to sleep. At least they seemed to be going for Solmar? Was that good or bad? At the least it gave the mixed blood time to move towards the ones that were asleep and put restraints on them. It would be nice if not all of them had to be killed.

"Natures love can give a lot Solmar, but you have no say in it's choices and it brings dangerous people."The danger didn't care if you were ready for them ore not. More often than not, they preferred if you knew nothing at all. Sometimes they were upset at realizing what they were drawn to wasn't a deadly or magnificent foe for them to tear apart. It's love had woven its roots around him tightly before their eyes had even opened for the first time, but the whispers and calls of the dead had been around for just as long. It seemed like the love tightened around him any time it seemed that death would finally take his hide. It almost felt like something refused to allow him to give up. What a bitter pill death coming will be when it does, now that he wants to keep living. "It's a chaotic gift that's wasted on someone like me."

The Blood of death kept me breathing. From that fluid birthed a new rhythm.
