What Charlotte had just witnessed would have been terrifying except for the fact that she was not so easily impressed. I mean sure she hadn't been hurt and thank god she placed her down delicately but that didn't matter! This maid had a long way to go before Charlotte thanked her. "Took you long enough."
She spat. Anyone could tell that they were just runts of the litter and the real challenge had yet to come. Anyone could have taken those out! But, blood magic? That wasn't what she expected. How did a maid end up with dark magic like that? She would expect something more.. maid-like? Perhaps summoning a dusting wand or maybe some mops and buckets. This seemed a little extreme. Charlotte didn't want to put any more thought into it, after all, she was a combat maid or at least that is what Charlotte believed her to be."Yes, it is a waste of time. For me. I don't know why I am even on this job!"
It was a lie. Charlotte knew exactly why she was on this job. For the reason, she went on every other one. Money. Unfortunately, her funds had been running dry and paying people to do her work wasn't exactly helping her bank account. She was still adjusting to the real world and needless to say she wasn't doing a very good job. As they traveled Charlotte only bickered. "I'd appreciate it if blood didn't get on my dress so when the next group of ragtag thieves comes along I'm going to suggest you control yourself Dracula."
Charlotte was very good at a lot of things and witty insults were one of those things. Teasing people was one of her favorite pastimes, she couldn't ever let anyone believe they were equal to her! She would always be above them.
Just as she said this a man emerged from the earth right in front of them. it appeared that he used earth magic and had turned into mud/rock in order to sneak up on them! Charlotte shrieked but not because she was scared, because he was hideous! The man moved awkwardly as if his leg was broken, his hair was wild and messy with flakes of dirt all in it, his clothes were tattered and it looked as if he was well, homeless! "Get it away!"
She screamed in the maid's arms. Poor people were one of her greatest fears. Not that she was really scared of them but more so disgusted. The man responded angrily to Charlotte's words, as almost anyone would. "Shut your trap you little brat before you and your friend here are ten feet under my earth!"
It was a threat and the ground beneath them rumbled, it was one of his spells but it seemed that it wasn't fully activated yet, but Charlotte didn't realize that. "Is this really all you can do? It feels like a pebble was dropped and this is the aftermath..."
Her eyes rolled. This mage was a joke! But as time went on the rumbling got stronger and Charlotte was afraid she might end up eating her words or worse, dirt.
