    CODEX APOCRYPHAE

    Magic Name: Codex Apocryphae [The Obscure Code]
    Magic Type: Ancient Magic Solitary (50% to strength)

    Description: The Codex Apocryphae is a rather esoteric magic, easily fitting into the category of ancient magic because it is basically a script based magic, but esoteric all the same because its casting does not necessarily involve writing. This magic simply creates a connection between Earthland and the Abyss, a strange interdimensional plane full of strange and powerful energies. The connection is simply the caster of the Codex Apocryphae, who serves as a conduit to allow the energies of the Abyss flow into Earthland. Initially, it was cast like normal script magic, by writing, but to eliminate the disadvantage of having one's magic rendered useless if their hands were immobilized, users of the Codex Apocryphae learned to cast their magic by evoking 'formulae', which appear as floating glowing script of an ancient, forgotten tongue, often ringing the caster's hands or body. Using these formulae, the caster can draw energy from the Abyss and channel it into Earthland, where the energy will instantly produce a particular effect which is based majorly on the particular formula used. The formulae are numbered based on their power, with D-rank spells numbered 1-20, C being 21-40, and so on. Anything above 100 is godlike magic, and once beyond 100, whether the formula number is 101 or 10,000, their powers will be more or less equal.
    Based on whatever formulae Venus evokes with her own magic energy, the Abyssal energy on gaining access into Earthland manifests a specific effect, including but not limited to sealing or unlocking physical and magical attributes, condensation of Abyssal energy to create ephemeral physical constructs, and bestowing or inflicting specific effects on targets.

    Unique Abilities:


    • Conduit of the Abyss: Due to the connection Venus has with the Abyss, she can use the dimension as her own nifty backpack, and store or retrieve items within it noiselessly, said items appearing in her hands, or worn, whichever is most convenient for her. This follows every rule regarding how much equipment can be brought into a thread (just think of it as an invisible backpack that Venus doesn't have to zip open to store or retrieve items). More importantly, Venus can 'store' and retrieve herself, jumps into the Abyss and out again in any location within her rank burst range in an instant. This is obviously a teleport, appearing as though Venus turns into inky black smoke and faintly glowing runes, which implode and wink out of existence, before a burst of similar smoke and runes appear, and Venus condenses out of the mass, in the blink of an eye. It can only be done once per post.
      As a purely RP flavor mechanic, Venus can use this ability to create portals with which to travel across vast distances, as the Abyss pervades most dimensions and isn't bound by most space or time laws. However, creating such portals takes considerable time. Other characters can follow Venus into these transit portals (OOC agreement is a must) if they so desire. When passing through the Abyss, it feels like walking through very thin liquid, in the distance one may seem to perceive ancient ruins or moving indeterminate shapes, and there is always this sensation of mild horror, as well as the feeling that one is being watched.

    • Arcane Perception: Since Venus' body serves as an anchor point for the Abyss in the physical world, her body unwittingly leaks Abyssal energies, which are totally undetectable, but serve as a peculiar sort of sensor, a bit akin in function to the echolocation of a bat. This gives Venus a sixth sense, unaffected by her natural senses, which makes her aware of everything that goes on within the range of her sense, which is that of an AoE spell of her rank. Since the energy comes from the Abyss, it is unhindered by physical barriers, including the ground, although a spell of concealment or a spell targeted against sensory abilities will overcome her Arcane Perception, if the spell is higher than Venus' rank.

    Description: On evoking the specific formula, a ring of script appears round Venus' hand, and from the palm of her hand, a single tendril made of a cold, strange, inky-black matter extends. The tendril can merge with solid matter (and detach from it as well), as the caster wills, although it can be dislodged with the strength of someone of any rank above this spell, and absolutely no damage whatsoever is caused to whatever the tendril merges with, after it is pulled out by force or detached by the caster. Venus can manipulate the length of the Nether Line within its range limit, and can detach it from her hand to attach it to something else, so that it can serve as a horizontal line across which gulfs can be spanned.

    Description: This spell was created because of Venus' distaste of taking lives, and her desire not to kill, if she can help it. Venus evokes the particular formula, creating a halo of script round a chosen part of her body, usually her hand, which she will proceed to use to touch a living target or the ground. Once that happens, a black sphere is created with Venus in the center, and everyone not considered a friend by Venus (those whose presences she isn't aware of will be affected as well) will have visions of horror forced into their minds, causing a psychic backlash that damages them, as well as forcing the targets to lose the agency of locomotion due to shock, causing immobilization for a single post, after which the will to move overcomes the effect of the spell. People of weaker wills [limited to only NPCs of no serious import (NPCs not owned by players) and player-owned NPCs with express OOC permission] can be immobilized for as long as a full day, or until Venus dispels the effect, if a day hasn't passed.
    Venus can control the size of this spell, within its range limit.

    Description: Venus holds out both hands, as rings of esoteric script appear around her hands. Then at any point within the range of the spell, a strange wall, appearing to be made of disembodied lower arms grasping themselves will appear. The wall is sturdy enough to withstand  three spells of its rank before dissipating. What makes the wall particularly unique is that at its caster's will, hands can extend from the wall to pull any target within spell range to the wall, where other hands will hold them pinned and immobilized for a single post.

    Description: Created in case Venus met a locked door which she didn't approve of, this spell creates a stationary spherical field which reduces general magic casting ability, debuffing spell damage for everyone within the field by 55%. Also, a spectral key made up of swirling runes appears in Venus' hand. It will fit into, and open any lock equivalent to a Strong-ranked item, and if Venus taps the key against a spell, or a person/item affected by such, she can negate the spell, up to C-ranked magic, as long as she pays MP equivalent to the spell's original cost.

For instance, if Venus casts the illusion of a man, and someone is standing behind the illusion, the will see the back of the man, while those in front of the man will see the illusory man's front. The utility of this spell is the fact that Venus can use it to mislead, or provide visual aid to information she is trying to pass across.

Also, once bound by the chains, due to the thoroughness with which the chains bind them, targets are completely immobilized and thus unable to take any action for a post.

This causes the target strangely to feel cold, as they are drained 5% of their HP per post, till the flames go out at the end of the spell's duration.

However, the true purpose of this spell is this: disrupted souls bleed psychic energy, which Venus' body will absorb, allowing her to glean knowledge from everyone affected. Venus has to have a specific information she desires in mind for this to happen. This 'soul bleeding' causes reduction to magic damage by 90% for the duration of the spell.
    NOTE: Venus cannot glean information from the bleeding of people with strong souls (PCs and PC-controlled characters), unless all parties involved have an OOC agreement.

    Description: This spell, when cast, enables Venus to transit her physical form partially into the Abyss, existing, as it were, between both planes. This causes Venus to become intangible and ethereal, easily passing through objects made of physical matter, although she is still visible, albeit obviously transparent. Since she is intangible, she doesn't make contact with the ground, simply floating or 'running' along whatever plane she is positioned perpendicular to, although she can temporarily allow herself to be affected by gravity. When in this form, due to the spectral nature of her physical form, she receives a buff of 25% to both physical resistance and magic resistance, as she will partially phase through the attack. Venus cannot also pass through a construct made of magic of the same or higher rank of the spell.

When in this form, Venus cannot attack, nor be attacked by any physical agency. Energy and magic of the spell rank and below have no effect, although those of higher rank have full effect. Venus cannot also pass through a construct made of magic of higher rank than the spell. Edit:: This is essentially 'immunity to damage', which is not allowed. You can't have spells that prevent someone from taking damage, regardless of whether they cannot attack themselves. Also, you also cannot have spells that cannot be affected by spells by equivalent rank as this rules out negation effects and that's not allowed. So I'm going to have to ask you to rework this spell.

Anything above 100 is godlike magic, and once beyond 100, whether the formula number is 101 or 10,000, their powers will be more or less equal.
    Based on whatever formulae Venus evokes with her own magic energy, the Abyssal energy on gaining access into Earthland manifests a specific effect, including but not limited to sealing or unlocking physical and magical attributes, condensation of Abyssal energy to create ephemeral physical constructs, and bestowing or inflicting specific effects on targets.

    Unique Abilities:


    • Conduit of the Abyss: Due to the connection Venus has with the Abyss, she can use the dimension as her own nifty backpack, and store or retrieve items within it noiselessly, said items appearing in her hands, or worn, whichever is most convenient for her. This follows every rule regarding how much equipment can be brought into a thread (just think of it as an invisible backpack that Venus doesn't have to zip open to store or retrieve items). More importantly, Venus can 'store' and retrieve herself, jumps into the Abyss and out again in any location within her rank burst range in an instant. This is obviously a teleport, appearing as though Venus turns into inky black smoke and faintly glowing runes, which implode and wink out of existence, before a burst of similar smoke and runes appear, and Venus condenses out of the mass, in the blink of an eye. It can only be done once per post.
      As a purely RP flavor mechanic, Venus can use this ability to create portals with which to travel across vast distances, as the Abyss pervades most dimensions and isn't bound by most space or time laws. However, creating such portals takes considerable time. Other characters can follow Venus into these transit portals (OOC agreement is a must) if they so desire. When passing through the Abyss, it feels like walking through very thin liquid, in the distance one may seem to perceive ancient ruins or moving indeterminate shapes, and there is always this sensation of mild horror, as well as the feeling that bone is being watched.

Once that happens, a black sphere is created with Venus in the center, and everyone not considered a friend by Venus (those whose presences she isn't aware of will be affected as well) will have visions of horror forced into their minds, causing a psychic backlash that damages them, as well as forcing the targets to lose the agency of locomotion due to shock, causing immobilization for a single post, after which the will to move overcomes the effect of the spell. People of weaker wills [limited to only NPCs of no serious import (NPCs not owned by players) and player-owned NPCs with express OOC permission] can be immobilized for as long as a full day, or until Venus dispels the effect, if a day hasn't passed.
    Venus can control the size of this spell, within its range limit.

The wall is sturdy enough to withstand  three spells of its rank before dissipating. What makes the wall particularly unique is that at its caster's will, hands can extend from the wall to pull any target within spell range to the wall, where other hands will hold them pinned and immobilized for a single post.

It will fit into, and open any lock equivalent to a Strong-ranked item, and if Venus taps the key against a spell, or a person/item affected by such, she can negate the spell, up to C-ranked magic, as long as she pays MP equivalent to the spell's original cost.

    Based on whatever formulae Venus evokes with her own magic energy, the Abyssal energy on gaining access into Earthland manifests a specific effect, including but not limited to sealing or unlocking physical and magical attributes, condensation of Abyssal energy to create ephemeral physical constructs, and bestowing or inflicting specific effects on targets.

    Unique Abilities:


    • Conduit of the Abyss: Due to the connection Venus has with the Abyss, she can use the dimension as her own nifty backpack, and store or retrieve items within it noiselessly, said items appearing in her hands, or worn, whichever is most convenient for her. This follows every rule regarding how much equipment can be brought into a thread (just think of it as an invisible backpack that Venus doesn't have to zip open to store or retrieve items). More importantly, Venus can 'store' and retrieve herself, jumps into the Abyss and out again in any location within her rank burst range in an instant. This is obviously a teleport, appearing as though Venus turns into inky black smoke and faintly glowing runes, which implode and wink out of existence, before a burst of similar smoke and runes appear, and Venus condenses out of the mass, in the blink of an eye. It can only be done once per post.
      As a purely RP flavor mechanic, Venus can use this ability to create portals with which to travel across vast distances, as the Abyss pervades most dimensions and isn't bound by most space or time laws. However, creating such portals takes considerable time. Other characters can follow Venus into these transit portals (OOC agreement is a must) if they so desire. When passing through the Abyss, it feels like walking through very thin liquid, in the distance one may seem to perceive ancient ruins or moving indeterminate shapes, and there is always this sensation of mild horror, as well as the feeling that one is being watched.

    • Arcane Perception: Since Venus' body serves as an anchor point for the Abyss in the physical world, her body unwittingly leaks Abyssal energies, which are totally undetectable, but serve as a peculiar sort of sensor, a bit akin in function to the echolocation of a bat. This gives Venus a sixth sense, unaffected by her natural senses, which makes her aware of everything that goes on within the range of her sense, which is that of an AoE spell of her rank. Since the energy comes from the Abyss, it is unhindered by physical barriers, including the ground, although a spell of concealment or a spell targeted against sensory abilities will overcome her Arcane Perception, if the spell is higher than Venus' rank. Edit:: To overcome spells with this feature you are essentially negating, whilst this is okay on plot abilities, on actual magic spells/abilities, you will need to pay the equivalent mana of the spell/ability in question, also please state this can only be done once per post and can only be done to spells of equivalent rank or lower.

    Description: On evoking the specific formula, a ring of script appears round Venus' hand, and from the palm of her hand, a single tendril made of a cold, strange, inky-black matter extends. The tendril can merge with solid matter (and detach from it as well), as the caster wills, although it can be dislodged with the strength of someone of any rank above this spell, and absolutely no damage whatsoever is caused to whatever the tendril merges with, after it is pulled out by force or detached by the caster. Venus can manipulate the length of the Nether Line within its range limit, and can detach it from her hand to attach it to something else, so that it can serve as a horizontal line across which gulfs can be spanned.

    Description: This spell was created because of Venus' distaste of taking lives, and her desire not to kill, if she can help it. Venus evokes the particular formula, creating a halo of script round a chosen part of her body, usually her hand, which she will proceed to use to touch a living target or the ground. Once that happens, a black sphere is created with Venus in the center, and everyone not considered a friend by Venus (those whose presences she isn't aware of will be affected as well) will have visions of horror forced into their minds, causing a psychic backlash that damages them, as well as forcing the targets to lose the agency of locomotion due to shock, causing immobilization for a single post, after which the will to move overcomes the effect of the spell. People of weaker wills [limited to only NPCs of no serious import (NPCs not owned by players) and player-owned NPCs with express OOC permission] can be immobilized for as long as a full day, or until Venus dispels the effect, if a day hasn't passed.
    Venus can control the size of this spell, within its range limit.

    Description: Venus holds out both hands, as rings of esoteric script appear around her hands. Then at any point within the range of the spell, a strange wall, appearing to be made of disembodied lower arms grasping themselves will appear. The wall is sturdy enough to withstand  three spells of its rank before dissipating. What makes the wall particularly unique is that at its caster's will, hands can extend from the wall to pull any target within spell range to the wall, where other hands will hold them pinned and immobilized for a single post.

    Description: Created in case Venus met a locked door which she didn't approve of, this spell creates a stationary spherical field which reduces general magic casting ability, debuffing spell damage for everyone within the field by 55%. Also, a spectral key made up of swirling runes appears in Venus' hand. It will fit into, and open any lock equivalent to a Strong-ranked item, and if Venus taps the key against a spell, or a person/item affected by such, she can negate the spell, up to C-ranked magic, as long as she pays MP equivalent to the spell's original cost.

    Description: At the evocation of a formula, Venus creates an invisible field, in which she can cast very complex, three-dimensional illusions on anyone within the field. The illusions may appear real, but they are merely insubstantial and incapable of causing damage. Everyone within the field will see the same illusion Venus casts, with respect to their position. For instance, if Venus casts the illusion of a man, and someone is standing behind the illusion, the will see the back of the man, while those in front of the man will see the illusory man's front. The utility of this spell is the fact that Venus can use it to mislead, or provide visual aid to information she is trying to pass across.

Also, once bound by the chains, due to the thoroughness with which the chains bind them, targets are completely immobilized and thus unable to take any action for a post.

    Description: Venus summons a large ball of indigo-colored fire, though, interestingly, the flames cast neither light nor heat. This causes the target strangely to feel cold, as they are drained 5% of their HP per post, till the flames go out at the end of the spell's duration.

Once attached to their victims, the shades begin whispering forbidden knowledge that will unnerve the victim, resulting in a debuff of speed by 75%, as the victim's movements become shaky and uncertain. The shades last for the duration of the debuff.

However, the true purpose of this spell is this: disrupted souls bleed psychic energy, which Venus' body will absorb, allowing her to glean knowledge from everyone affected. Venus has to have a specific information she desires in mind for this to happen. This 'soul bleeding' causes reduction to magic damage by 90% for the duration of the spell.
    NOTE: Venus cannot glean information from the bleeding of people with strong souls (PCs and PC-controlled characters), unless all parties involved have an OOC agreement.

    Description: This spell, when cast, enables Venus to transit her physical form partially into the Abyss, existing, as it were, between both planes. This causes Venus to become intangible and ethereal, easily passing through objects made of physical matter, although she is still visible, albeit obviously transparent. Since she is intangible, she doesn't make contact with the ground, simply floating or 'running' along whatever plane she is positioned perpendicular to, although she can temporarily allow herself to be affected by gravity. When in this form, due to the spectral nature of her physical form, she receives a buff of 25% to both physical resistance and magic resistance, as she will partially phase through the attack. Venus cannot also pass through a construct made of magic of the same or higher rank of the spell.
