Job Description: One day you receive a random letter from a stranger you do not know. This person seems to be a mage, but it isn’t quite clear. The letter is a challenge that demands you defeat a powerful monster in order to prove yourself.
“Hey there, Rookie. I see you have done some jobs that make you seem like you’re an awesome mage. Well you’re nothing compared to me! If you want to prove just how great you are then I dare you to take out this monster. Bring a friend if you’re too scared!”

Working once again, getting away from the offices located on Tolgalen. Having to deal with shipments coming and going, day in and day out can work the nerves. The same thing day after day, everyone would need to get away and perform other duties once in a while or even get away to just do a random job and destress from the normal day life of the West Fiore Trading Company. Some can do these by checking a notice board of jobs…. Or some could get a piece of mail challenging them to a hunt. An oddity among everyday routine, but it was a chance to escape the responsibilities for a bit and relax with a simpletask. Jaeger was one such that had received this challenge. There was no clue as to who sent it, but was written to seem like they knew him personally. He needs to prove himself by defeated a monster in some ancient ruins far from where he lives.
“Finally, a chance to get back into the swing of things. No more cargo for me!”
He exclaimed in his apartment in downtown Tolgalen. Once at work, Jaeger put in a notice of the job and that he would be leaving a week later. By doing this, he hoped it would be enough notice to head out with someone there to cover the shift on the docks or whatever they would need him to do at that point. Work went on for that next week as normal, only he was excited for his plans. The week came to a close and his best white suit was ready to represent himself and the company and upon the next morning, he set off on his adventure!
Normally, the mage could just sink down into the earth and zip under the land and ocean to get to his destination; but where was the fun in that? A ship would offer scenery, landscapes to enjoy, and of course people he could talk to. So, he leaped onto an outgoing ship, paid a little to the captain for transport, and made his way to a port close enough to the ruins.

Aaaahhh, so nice. The trip from Tolgalen to another port was fun. The breeze as they glided across the water. The sea splashed up as the boat hit the waves and the mist scattered across anyone near the edge of the ship. The sailors and crew were good company, chatting away as their duties took them around the ship. Jaeger was able to get to know the men and women of the crew; they were pretty nice. It took quite a bit of time for them to arrive at their destination, around 3 days or so. They were headed to a smallish port town, it was the closest dock to the ruins. Nothing special about the town they were gonna be at, or so the mage was told.
After slowly moving into the harbor of this small town, Jaeger was among the first off. He said his goodbyes and good lucks to the crew and their travels a head. Looking around, what was said was right. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary here, but it was nice and delightful. Unfortunately, he wasn’t here to mingle and there was a good chunk of traveling to go before arriving at the place described in the letter. So with a a thought in his mind, his feet merged into the dirt roads, sinking to be a few feet below the surface and began the last leg of this journey. While he’d like to see the surrounding jungle, but there can be time for that on his way back.
It was a trek, the landscape rolled and covered in a thick forest. The ruins themselves were covered in moss, vines, bushes, and more. It looks like it had been some time since anyone has inhabited these structures, probably why they were called Ancient Ruins. The stones were weathered as were any statues that were stationed around the place. Some were of people, spears in their hands and pets by their side. Some were of just animals, and others were of gargoyles. The last ones seemed out of place give the others that were around.
“What a lovely place. I wonder why it was abandoned so long ago. You got a roof, got these pretty nifty walkways, even statues!”
Jaeger said aloud to himself as he strolled through the ruins of old. Since there wasn't a beast here yet, he spent his time just looking around few the buildings that stood against time. Here and there, birds would flap and escape as a human came through. Small critters would scurry and hide from the much larger being skulking around their territory. A good amount of time passed by, maybe 10, 20 minutes. Nothing. Was this some joke? Did Jaeger get played? Likely. Truthfully? No. At the tick over of the next minute, a Gargoyle pounced, going for a surprise attack!

SURPRISE NATURE FAKER. The gargoyle pounced from its stale perch and lashed out for the human that dared to disturb its sleep. It’ll show this pale skinned meatbag of a thing, its stoney claws would teach him a lesson. It was quick and had the initiative to attack first and Jaeger? He was about to be hit. Now as far as he knew, the gargoyle wasn’t poisonous or had anything special in its attack. The mage lifted his arms up to defend against the attacks, taking 6 scratches to his suit and his flesh. The string of the skin being cut open, even just a bit was enough to annoy him! And his suit would need to be mended, this is already starting out rough. In his head, combat music starts up, the beat and his movements starting to synchronize. He leaps back all action like, standing up straight and re-adjusting his tie.
“You sir! How dare you! This was to be a gentlema…”
He said but he was kick on the draw! He leaped back again to a tree and took aim. Quick, he punched at the tree and sent several shark teeth towards the stone adversary. Stone chipped off, flew through the air! It was a glorious hit, only those indeed worthy could have done such a feat, this wasn’t it though. His foe was still standing.. And able to regen health if allowed. Jaeger had to follow up with something, he couldn’t let this one win. His pride was on the line, his professional honor!
The mage swooped around, running with his arms flailing behind him like nonsense. Jaeger could feel the speed, he was quicker than before! AS he moved, his hands grabbed leaves off the tree and boy did they trail after him. His zipped and zoomed for few feet he needed. The action! The adrenaline pumping through his veins… This thing was going down! The stone beast tried to turn away, to hop upon his perch and return to stone… but it was too late. Jaeger was too close, victory was at hand. With a mighty jump towards the gargoyle, he brought his hand down with great intent… slashing up the critter!
BOOM, CLUNK, SMASH! The stoned one dismantled, exploded, and rained down. The mage was victorious…. But at what cost? His suit was tattered around his arms. His magic? Not really all that spent, not as bad as it could have been. Actually, all in all, it was a pretty good day. Though, getting this suit fixed might just cost him whatever pay he was going to recieve. Well, at least it got him out of the office. The mage began his trek back, this time walking. He would go on to spend a couple more days in the smallish town he arrived at before heading back to HQ. He assumed the issuer of the challenge would know the outcome of this and send whatever the verdict was in another message.
