    Spoiler:

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

Mythal had been a fair number of jobs at this point, with several different people of both the same and different guilds. But this had to be one of the odder requests that he had gotten thus far. It seemed that a man by the name of Itzah had put out a notice, asking for help with locating a… mermaid. He claimed it was far out in the ocean, hidden on an island that she called her sanctuary. Now the idea of a mermaid wasn’t the most farfetched thing the God Slayer had heard of – considering all the crazy beasts that lived in the world, it was far from the craziest notion. But the man who had put in the request was… not all there, its seemed. The description seemed to bounce around from honest to Earthland details about what he had seen and then to defenses against other people calling his claims insane and marking him as ‘Crazy Itzah’. It seemed the locals weren’t exactly a fan of his insights.

That was only the first oddity. It had been some time since Fairy Tail had asked him to accompany another wizard on a job, mostly because he generally just grabbed a posting from the board and went on his way. But he wasn’t opposed to team ups like he had been in the past – in fact, he was a lot more social than he ever was before. Serilda had helped him ease into understanding the world by simply being his friend and Markus and Nessa had been reliable allies in jobs that… frankly he could consider them friends as well. Fairy Tail had provided a lot of opportunity to him in meeting new and unique individuals; wizards that had control of all sorts of elements.

So when he was asked to join not only one of the other wizards but an actual Ace of the guild, he was amiable to the idea. He knew his current mentor, Nessa, was an Ace of Fairy Tail along with Arcadia, the girl that had introduced him and invited him to the guild in the first place. He’d actually asked around a bit to get the names of the other aces and thus far, had only missed out on the opportunity to meet Rina Everglades and Mura Kensho. It seemed like he was going to get the chance to meet the former.

It was midmorning when Mythal arrived in Lavanitir, his lacrimacycle slowing to a complete halt near the dock parking. He knocked the kickstand into place and stepped up and over the seat as he stood next to the bike. He pulled free the helmet and glanced around the immediate area, searching for a sign of the woman he was meant to meet. He didn’t see her standing in the parking lot and he shrugged, placing the helmet on the handle of the bike. Chances were she had moved on to the docks to meet up with… Crazy Itzah. He locked the lacrimacycle up and began the trek over, crossing between the metal gates and the sign that declared the area he was entering. The port was busy with boats and people, far more crowded than most other harbors he had been to. Then again, Lavanitir wasn’t just a sea-bound city – most of its imports and exports came from ships from other countries. Despite all of that, it didn’t believe in honoring the titles and ranks of wizards, subscribing to the idea that the law was the end-all, be-all.

Mythal had never happened upon the city before, a fact he was quite glad about. Before he had joined Fairy Tail, he had a bad tendency to get in trouble by loitering and boozy mischief. In a place like this, such actions would have warranted a rather hefty beating and jail time to boot. Thinking of it, he was surprised that Itzah had managed to avoid being locked up thus far; crazy rantings had a way of swaying a public the wrong way. And the local policing force would surely want to keep him away from the eye of possible traders and such. With that thought, his step picked up a bit – he didn’t want his trip here to be for nothing.

Rina had been waiting around all day, pacing back and forth. She hadn't had much to do for a while now, because she hadn't really been willing to do that many jobs. The death of her father had resurfaced, not because of any malpractice or anything. It was just that, Rina had finally had the money to pay for her father's funeral. She didn't have enough before, especially because she was still fighting to pay for her family's home, just so they wouldn't have to live on the street for the rest of their lives. It had been hard for Rina, because she had to work for her family. Her father used to be the main money maker/caretaker. But he died a year or so ago. Rina couldn't seem to remember when she became an ace, but it was for the exact same reason that she was one now, for them money. She loved helping people, but that wasn't the main reason why she became an ace. She became one to support her family. Whether it was because her father's death, or because they were homeless, it didn't matter, she had to support them no matter what.

Now though, she had enough money for her father's funeral, and she didn't know what to do about it. She wanted her father to rest, so her and her family could have the closure they needed, but now, now that she could, she was scared to. She didn't want to see her father be cast away forever. She wanted more time with him. Blocking out her father was the only way Rina could maintain her powers, but now that she knew she could pay for his funeral, she just wants to spend more time with him. Just one more day with her father was all she really wanted to ask for. But yet, she knew that that wasn't possible, not even with her powers.

So, as she pondered in her office, she got a notice about a job from a crazy old man. He wasn't very credible, but he needed Rina's help. Also, Rina decided that she needed a break from all the craziness that's been put upon her. So, she listened to what he had to say, but he did look to be very woozy, drunk maybe. Or, he was just crazy. Either way, she decided to just think these things to be true. He had told her about a beautiful mermaid he had seen on one of his boating adventures. He gave her some measurement of where she should be if it was an actual mermaid(Rina had no hope in him to be honest). He had been extremely detailed in his explanation of her location, listing of dozens of landmarks, and tiny things. Rina had wondered how he could actually remember all these things if he was some sort of insane fisherman. He had also told her about the perils that awaited her there, huge sea creatures that were as big as skyscrapers. He might've been over exaggerating. However, Rina didn't care, she thought it would be fun for her. Anything that had some sort of travelling was a seller for her. She had been homeless once before, before all the things that had happened to her. Now, she just cherishes the adventure. It was one she hadn't been on in a long while.

So, as she shook the hand of the crazy fisherman, she went off to find herself a partner. It wasn't long before she found someone she hadn't met before. His name was Mythal. Rina hadn't noticed him around before, but the influx in new members coming into Fairy Tail was a reasonable excuse. He seemed to have a magic extremely opposite from Rina. However, both of their magics were deemed to be unholy, his had an actual dark attribute to his. At least, that's what she had read in his files. Most of the time, the files about guild members were never really detailed, they just gave very general descriptions about them. So, Rina didn't have too much on him exactly. She had notified them to meet up in Lavanitir Port City. She had already given him the details on the job, but now was the time to actually meet up with him in person. As she walked towards the meet up location, she saw a man. He seemed to have some sort of Lacrimacycle with him. He had black hair and red eyes, extremely ominous so to say. He seemed to be the exact opposite of her. She had the glow of the heavenly gardens surrounding her, and light white hair. With his type of magic, Rina didn't know what to think of him, but she didn't judge anyone. She treated anyone that cares for others, even in the littlest possible way, to be good in her book. Unless they do something that deems them to be not trustworthy enough for her, or too evil for her. So, without further ado, Rina walked up to him, and with a gentle smile, she said to him, "Nice to meet you Mythal, I'm Rina."

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

Being handpicked by one of the Aces of the guild was strange, though not in an insulting way. She had chosen him mostly, it seemed, because she hadn’t met him yet. Not something the God Slayer himself would have done but then again, he didn’t have the overabundant social skills that many others in Fairy Tail seemed to possess. Whatever the case, she had forwarded him the details along with the meet up location. She hadn’t really provided much in terms of what to look for when he got there, meaning he had no idea what she was going to look like. But he imagined that when the time came, she would present herself to him. So he had headed to Lavanitir and parked his lacrimacycle without a second thought, walking up through the gate and towards the port.

He seemed to have a theme up this point, though even more so than he even currently knew. He found a lot of his jobs took place in cities with active, poignant harbors. It was an odd sentiment to pop into his head as he walked down the wooden planked dock. Hargeon Town had been the main focal point of his jobs thus far, in terms of a median average. But there had been the week cruise he took with Nessa, which involved stopping in the main ports of Midi, Seven and Joya. Though those had been far less demanding, save for the drinking and partying with the local populace. That was something he hadn’t necessarily enjoyed back when he had first been assigned it but now… he would probably be a bit more amenable.

His nostrils flared as he walked, picking up an odd but semi-familiar scent. As his head turned, he caught sight of a young woman that was probably around the age of Nessa. Another beautiful woman with sleek and shining white hair as pure as snow. It seemed his theme of having white-haired allies continued as well. But perhaps the most interesting part was the aura that seemed to encapsulate her entire form. She was almost literally glowing and if she wasn’t, her magic certainly was. Mythal’s eyes traced her form, more taking in the magical output that was emanating off her body than actually checking her out – something he wasn’t akin to doing really ever. He would recognize that scent and magical presence anywhere, though it was on a different scale than his own. God Slayer magic; so it seemed Fairy Tail housed yet another Slayer in its roster.

“Rina,” he said, extending his hand to offer a handshake as he walked up to her. That was odd; usually he was the one having to clasp someone else’s hand after it was offered. Very rarely was he ever the first one to put forth the greeting. “Pleasure’s mine. Was wonderin’ when I’d get around to finally meetin’ more of Fairy Tail’s Aces. Nessa’s told me good things about you guys.” The Starlight wizard had mostly good things to say about everyone but that didn’t mean her words were any less sincere for any particular person. He glanced around after their introductions were issued. “Nice to meet another Slayer as well,” he said, his voice lowering so the people walking about wouldn’t necessarily hear him. He had done his damnedest to make sure only a handful of people knew about his magic but there would be no denying what he was to a fellow one. She’d be able to sense his magic just as easily as he sensed hers. “So huntin’ down a mermaid…we sure this is a legit job? I’m all for helpin’ Itzah but I just hope we ain’t gonna wind up in some kind of trap. Had too many of those so far.”

As Rina approached them man, she noticed his blatant stares at her. She wasn't sure if it was because of her herself, or her glow. Most of the time, she never got this reaction from anyone before, it was more of like them having a sudden realization of her glow. It is usually toned down for her allies, but she was guessing that was why. She wouldn't expect an actual guild member to be captivated by her, especially due to her being an ace. Either way, she didn't mind it that much. She would find out soon enough, which of the 2 it was, especially if her kept staring at her. As a gentle breeze flowed in her face, her hair drew back a tiny bit.

But with that, she couldn't help but notice the distinct smell he bared. It was obvious he had slayer magic, especially from the sense of him. However, the smell was impure, probably from the unholiness of god slayer magic. She didn't like that aspect of it, but she needed it once she fights the brother of the goddess of the heavenly gardens. She could tell he was strong, probably even stronger than her at this point. After all, he was a rank above her. However, that didn't discourage Rina at all. She knew for herself that her magic wasn't as offensive as she would've hoped it would be, or supportive. It was this odd mix in between, that Rina didn't favor that much. But, it was the magic given to her by the goddess of the heavenly gardens. Which meant she couldn't really just wave it away. Something in her though, felt like the goddess was going to grant her her wishes of a change in her magic. For now, she would just have to deal with it, even if it might burden her partner at some point. In all honesty, it still was strong, but it wasn't what Rina had expected. Her magic worked more towards selfishly helping herself, instead of others. It also didn't have any all out offensive abilities that could help towards battling with others either. But Rina digresses. She's just lucky she was given the chance to fight. The chance to fight for her family, the chance to fight for everything, the chance to explore. So, she didn't care, as long as she was able to still do all these things she wanted to do.

As Rina greeted her fellow guild member with a handshake, she smiled her usual gentle smile. It is usually extremely infectious, some might hate her for it, but others love her for it. Aside from that, she began to start up a conversation with him, trying to set forth a small bond before their trip. She didn't want to be on a job with someone, and not have their trust. After all, she cares a lot about people, especially what they think about her. Not so much so that she gains anxiety or anything negative, but just to the point where she feels bad if she didn't do what she could've to help someone else feel safe and comforted. Even though she was just going on jobs with people, she really wanted to make sure that she was good enough to be trusted, so that not only her could benefit, but the other person as well. With that, she replied to his comment about Nessa, and said to him, "Yea, Nessa has been an extremely good guild mate since I've known her. She's such a big part of the guild, and has even been able to surpass me in rank. I'm so happy I've been able to see her grow. We've been trapped in quite a few sticky situations." With that, she did a tiny and gentle laugh. So, with Rina finishing her sentence, he begin to say quietly that he was a slayer as well. Rina knew it, but for some reason he said it sneakily. He didn't seem to want people to know, but Rina was fine with that. She respected him for his choice, especially with his mix of dark and unholy magic. Some people probably would never be able to trust him. So, she just stayed quiet about it, and decided to not ask. Everyone has a story, they could always tell you over time. As he asked about the credibility of the job, Rina did a short giggle and tried to comfort him by saying, "Well, he didn't seem to be one that was able to create a plan in his state. I wasn't sure if he was drunk, insane, or whatever else. However, he said he would pay us money to be able to search for this 'mermaid' so, what would it hurt to just go. It'd be dangerous either way. But don't worry about that now, we'll know when we get there. Now then, I guess we should rent a boat or something now, shouldn't we?

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

Rina seemed to be just like many of the other guild mates he had encountered recently – extremely nice. It wasn’t a bad quality to have; in fact, it was probably what drew so many people to the guild in the first place. There was a gentleness about her that was deceptive, as it was surprising to imagine this calm, collected girl as an Ace of a wizard guild. But as in all things within the world, someone’s outward appearance was not indicative of their magical abilities and given the intensity of the aura around her, she was quite a potent wizard in her own right. But that was neither here nor there – he was sure he would get a glimpse of her power once they got going on the job. Something told him that this job wasn’t going to be as simple as going from point A to point A without issue.
Rina continued to compliment Nessa, on her abilities and her importance to the guild, and he nodded. “She’s been helpful. I didn’t exactly want a mentor when it was first suggested to me but I learned to get used to it. She’s a good wizard.” Mythal hadn’t been all that receptive to the whole mentor/mentee angle when he had first been told about it at all. He had almost been actively against it. But after some time with the Starlight wizard, he had warmed up to her. In the end, it had proved advantageous to have someone who knew the guild well, to show him the ropes and offer insight and advice.

She didn’t really have any comments about being a Slayer, only smiling and nodding along with the sentiment. He wasn’t sure if she was as secretive about her abilities as he was, so he lowered his voice for the sake of keeping both their respective abilities on the down low. Luckily she moved right past it, not making a big deal out of it – which Mythal appreciated. One thing he didn’t really enjoy was talking about the how’s, why’s and when’s of his magical ability. Instead she chose to focus on the job, chuckling a little as she explained that Itzah probably hadn’t come up with a completely modest plan, as she was unable to discern what his mental state was. But she pointed out that he was going to pay them no matter what and frankly, in the end, wasn’t that all that mattered? He couldn’t help but nod along with the sentiment, as well as agreeing with renting a boat. “I wasn’t sure if you were here yet or not so I didn’t go and check on the prices. But now that you’re here, we can head on over,” he said, pointing to the small cabin with the sign that read ‘Rentals’.

As it turned out, boats weren’t exactly cheap. A rowboat was but based on what Itzah said, they would be traveling through some perilous waters and would be piloting out for quite some time. A rowboat would do very little against sea monsters and it would take them weeks to reach wherever the mermaid was. So they had to put in jewel for a fairly impressive fishing dingy, hiring the crew and captain along with it. They seemed hesitant to follow the directions of the aptly named Crazy Itzah but the jewel was good so in the end, they agreed.

As they were departing, Itzah himself showed up. And boy did he look crazy; there was a rabid, nearly worrisome look in his eyes, which were bloodshot and wide as he glanced around. His hair was a mangled mess, having no form or attempt at control. His clothes were on the dirtier side, covered in wet patches from sleeping… wherever he slept. On the one side, Mythal couldn’t really fault him for his appearance. It really hadn’t been that long since the God Slayer himself had looked just as rundown and poor as this man. And truthfully, he probably had looked just as crazed as Itzah did at certain points as well. It was probably for those thoughts that he didn’t turn the boat around right there and then and call off the job. If anything, the man’s beliefs were worth exploring to give him some closure – or excitement.

The boat shoved off and they were on their way, with Itzah hanging near the cabin to point the captain in the right direction. Mythal took a post up near the bow of the vessel, leaning against the railing as he looked out at the ocean. It’d been some time since he’d been on the sea, almost two months since he road on a boat to River Village. Though he imagined this trip would be a lot more… interesting.

As Rina happily agreed to moving over to the boat shack once they had finally caught up with each other on themselves and their greetings. It was nice, to have a good talk like that. It had been a long time since she really met anyone new, especially on a job for that matter. So, being there with someone special, someone with magic, felt nice. Sure, she had loved spending time with her family, and getting them situated, but she always loved the rush of meeting others, and actual doing jobs with them. No amount of her family time would make her feel any otherwise. Sure, they could make her leave the job for a tiny bit, but she always knew that she would come back to her job as an ace of Fairy Tail each time. It also made her happy to know that she had a place in the guild, one where she was recognized to be strong enough. She wasn't just another girl who was weaker than the guys. She had always been a fighter, even when she had her requip magic. She was well known in close combat fighting, and it has even carried on to the magic she has now. It doesn't really help her as much as her old requip magic, but that didn't matter. She was able to use it to the best of her abilities and became stronger than she ever was before. Now, all she needed was to become an A rank wizard. She wanted to be better than she ever was. She knows that this is the job she needs to be better, to be more powerful. So, as she walked towards the boating rental area.

All of a sudden, her burst of confidence and joy turned into shock. As she listened to the prices of the boats the boat rental person was spouting out, she gaped open her mouth in shock. It was extremely surprising that boats could cost that much, even if it was just a rental. She would've been able to buy loads of food with the money she spent for the boat that they did actually buy. Sure, it seemed to be a boat that would be good for their adventures, but yet, it was expensive. Luckily though, she would get paid back for the journey after the job was over. So, as she gave the bored rental person her money, she went to go towards the boat, where she would meet that crazy old man that had given them the job in the first place. Rina wasn't positive if he was going to come with them, and Rina wasn't really sure if she wanted him to come in the first place. Sure, he would be good for directions, but his stench was extremely terrible. She was sure that he couldn't have been homeless, because not even her and her family had ever been in such bad shape as him. So, why was it that he was that way. He was a pretty popular fisher in the area, so for him to be so crazy looking was insane to her. How could he be able to make so much money from fishing, and yet still look homeless. It gave people who actually were homeless a bad rep, because it made them seem like they were all just some insane people ready to attack you at any moment. She shivered at the thought of how people used to treat her and her family during their times of homelessness. It was people like him that make people misunderstand those that are just fighting to survive. Either way, she had to live with him for a bit, at least until the job was over.

So, she sat on the ledge of the boat, with her feet under the railing, and her arms right on top of them. She was wondering what would happen on this trip, and if there was actually some sort of mermaid out there in the waters, waiting to be found. However, even if there was, there would be way more perils they would have to face before even thinking about finding her. So, for now she was just going to look out into the ocean, as the motor from the boat would make its sound. She took in a deep breath, and closed her eyes, taking in everything around her. The smell, the feeling of specks of water hitting her legs. Just the beauty of the area around her. And she would do that until either someone talked to her, or some mysterious sea creature just coming from beneath them, and trying to kill them.

There wasn’t much to do until they got out into deeper waters and Itzah took over giving directions. Despite his haggard look and his crazed eyes, he did speak in full, conscious sentences. Granted they did drift off every now and then and he wound up staring into the cold bleak ocean but… still sensible enough. The captain had been even more wary about having the ‘mad man’ on board but Mythal talked him down, saying he would take responsibility for the man himself. And off they went, sailing into the great watery beyond.

Truth be told, Mythal hadn’t even ridden a boat out into the sea. He’d been on several that had gone along the shoreline of the ocean or up rivers and streams but never a full expedition outwards. It was… oddly thrilling, when he stopped to actually think about it. There was something about the great, mysterious deep that touched upon the adventurer hidden deep below his surface. It was probably the part of him that had wrestled Faera out of his head and taken her magic for his own as well but what of that. His eyes trailed over the skyline for quite some time until he took a moment to look back and find himself staring at a similar view. The land they had departed from was so far beyond that it was like they were all alone in the water. Better time than never. He pulled himself away from the bow and turned to look at Rina, who was comfortably sitting on the boat’s edge. “We should see what Itzah has to say. I’m sure he’s got some real interestin’ directions to give,” he said as his hands found their way in to his pants pockets. He walked off the front of the boat and into the cabin, where the minimal crew, captain and the ‘mad man’ were.

“Alright Itzah,” the God Slayer started as he walked in the door, taking steps over until he was leaning against the wall. “We’re out on the ocean. Where we headed?”

“Follow the sun’s rising path, there at the end is the jewel of beauty that we seek,” the man spouted out eagerly.

    “So… just follow the sun?”

“There we’ll find islands littered on the ocean like tossed pebbles. Poseidon’s Graveyard,” he finished the name with an ominous tone, almost like he was trying to scare children gathered around a campfire.

Mythal blinked at the man, turned to look at Rina temporarily and then finally settled his gaze on the captain. “Anythin’?”

“Well, Poseidon’s Graveyard is actually a set of small and large islands some ways out. But it’s quite some leagues – it’ll take us half the day to get there, so long as we don’t run into trouble.”

The God Slayer arched a brow. “Trouble?”

“These waters aren’t exactly friendly. Even master fishermen can find their vessels under attack by all sorts of nautical creatures. Some of the larger ones are attracted to big ships – and Poseidon’s Graveyard lies almost in a direct line with an underwater ravine. Lots of unholy things can come swimming out from beneath the waves,” the captain explained, a hitch in his voice as he did. Clearly he was far more comfortable going through his regular route – if he’d known where he was headed, he may have declined the job to charter them.

Mythal sighed and rubbed his forehead. This seemed like a ridiculously complicated job for something that could or couldn’t be waiting for them at the end of the path. He was only a moment from speaking up when there was a high-pitched whine that cut through the air from one of the ship’s devices. “The hell is that?” He asked, putting his fingers in his ears.

“My god,” the captain said, looking at the radar. “It’s a sea serpent. Why? How is it this close to the shore?”

Of course. “No time to ask it,” Mythal grumbled as he pushed off the wall. “Let’s get to it,” he stated simply to Rina, heading out the door.

Rina had been looking right into the ocean, feeling the breeze around her as the boat rode across the water. It was really refreshing to be able to just sit down and take a moment to realign her focus. She wanted to make sure that when the time came, she would be completely able to focus on beating the monster, instead of having her mind be completely frantic elsewhere. That is why she decided to do all this looking out in the ocean in the first place. Looking down an alleyway, with people who never noticed you/noticed you in a bad way, wasn't much of a calming thing. At least, not as calming as this(or at all anyways). So, as she looked out into the ocean, she felt a bigger wave come from the ocean. It seemed to be bigger than what she had felt on the boat before. However, it seemed to be only one wave. As she looked down, she saw it. It seemed to be a huge shadow below the boat. Something that didn't seem like it was friendly, at least not in this water. Before she knew it, she saw her partner come up to her, to only confirm her suspicions. As Rina got up, she looked over to Mythal and said to him, "Are you ready?"

Only after a few moments, she seemed to look down at the boat. The creature seemed like it didn't want to come up, it was as though it was waiting for a moment to strike. As Rina looked down towards the water, she saw it beginning to swim in a circle around them. With the boat completely stopped, Rina was waiting for the monster to strike. She wasn't sure if they were even going to strike in the first place. It was sort of intense. For now though, she would just wait until either the monster striked, or until Mythal did. This reminded her of a day she had with her family a few years back. She remembered it so clearly, and so vividly that it was odd. She couldn't understand why or how she remembered something like this. But, back then, she remembered herself as she was younger. Her hair was back to green, and she was reaching her hand for the last piece of bread that her mother and father mustered up for the family. However, her sister was also there to. She was waiting there patiently, knowing the exdact tactics to use in this sort of situation she knew that in this moment, if she tried to go and get the bread, her parents would shame her for being so impatient with them. So, she just waited there with her hands stretched out a tiny bit, just so she could go for the bread the second her sister did. It was only until a few moments after until her mother finally broke up the standstill by breaking the bread in half. With that, she gave each of them a piece to eat and chew on. It honestly wasn't as satisfying as it should've been, but it's still a good memory that Rina held onto.

That was when Rina realized something, if the sea creature wasn't going to attack them completely straight out, then that must mean that her and Mythal had to split the job. One of them would have to go down there and attack the sea creature, while the other stayed up on the ship to support both the offensive and the ship itself. Rina wasn't sure if this was gonna work, but she had faith that both of them would be able to pull off this tactic. So, with that, she whispered to Mythal her plan and waited to see what his response was. She hoped he would agree, because she did not want to not have a plan, and become sea monster bait.

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

The sensors had been enough of an alert but Rina was quick to look into the ocean's depths and see the long, treacherous creature there below them. She asked if he was ready and he sighed. “As I'll ever be,” he stated, rolling his shoulders. He hadn't expected to be fighting anytime soon and yet here they were. But the creature surprised them by choosing, instead, to remain submerged. It didn't seem keen on surfacing and attacking them above. Perhaps it was just testing the waters, as it were. Examining the strange object that was making so much noise in its ocean. And once it decided that it would try to consume them, well...

Both Rina and Mythal had the same thought. This was going to be a battle under the water and on the surface. She said as much to him and he nodded.“Water is fairly murky, I'll be able to move swift enough to avoid it. Maybe,” he scratched his chin idly. Only one way to find out.“I'll try to make it surface.” With that he leapt off the edge of the boat and immediately transformed into his crow form, his hefty wings beating the air. His gaze followed the shadowy figure as he flew, watching it slither underwater like a smooth snake in the grass. He tracked it as it turned back towards the boat, now with a bit more intent. It had clearly decided to make its move, as its spines rose up and pierced the surface, sliding along the surface.

It was then that Mythal made his move. He dipped and fell down, pulling his wings close to his body and tucking them in. He dove right towards the water, gravity yanking him downwards ever faster. Just before he hit the surface, he turned back into his normal form, his magic already surging into him. As he hit the water, his right arm cocked back and then swiftly soared forward, plunging his fist into the scales of the beast. Its head reared up out of the water as it roared, its voice echoing far. It swiveled around and lurched its body up, trying to free itself from the pest that was the God Slayer. Mythal held on for dear life as the monstrosity flipped its long body all over the water, trying to knock him away. His fingers dug into the flesh as he held on, his eyes repeatedly closing to block the water from blinding him.

Frustrated that it couldn’t shake Mythal free, the creature roared again and launched its upper half at him, its large jaws opening. It looked ready to chomp down on itself, if only to get him within its mouth. The God Slayer waited until the last possible second before he let go of his grip, releasing magic energy directly into the wound to send him flying backwards. The long, jagged teeth swung down and pierced the creature’s scales, eliciting yet another yelp of pain. Mythal landed in the water, dipping down under the surface. He flipped himself feet over head and righted himself, just as the creature was diving back under to get at him. Through the dark ocean water he could see it, swimming at him hurriedly. His shadow magic surged through his veins as he floated in the sea, watching it approach him. Only when it opened its mouth again did his hand snap up and release another bolt of dark energy, right into its esophagus. It gagged, bubbles spilling out from its throat and popping on the surface of the ocean. Mythal kicked his feet and swam forward swiftly, dipping down and then rising back up, his arm cocked and ready.

He punched it with such force that it flew out of the water, its entire form soaring into the air. It spun through the air like a wild twister before it landed back in the water, creating a decent tidal wave that rocked the boat. The captain turned the vessel to cut through the wave, avoiding them capsizing and ending their journey early. The monster brought its head up, gagging and growling through its teeth at the pain it was feeling in that moment.

As Rina watched the other slayer enter into the waters, she wondered what would he would do down there. She knew for a fact he was no water elemental-esque slayer, so she hoped that whatever he was going to do, would be effective enough to bring the creature to the surface for some actual battling. As she waited above the water, on the ship, she looked down to see tons of the movement from the battle going on beneath. However, things were really murky, and unclear, which made it extremely hard to look down into the ocean water. All she really saw were moving shadows, and she had no idea who had the upper hand here. Was it the sea monster, because it was in its own territory, or was it Mythal because of the fact that he had strong magics. Rina had no idea, especially now that she was looking at it. However, before she could view anything more, something started to happen. She felt as the boat began to shake violently. As she looked down at the surface of the water, she saw huge waves beginning to form under her, as the fight below her took place. As she looked over to the odd man, that was her employer, she looked at him, as his clearly drunken state, started to gain extreme nausea from the shaking. She frowned at him a tiny bit, thinking that he would be no help at all, so she set out into the water, knowing it was dangerous, but not while the sea monster was completely incapacitated with Mythal around.

So, as she got into the water, she felt a huge wave come unto her. As it did, she took out her spear of the heavenly gardens and summoned it to her hand. As she spun it rapidly, the wave crashed into her, but it seemed like its force was completely nullified by the spear. With that, several smaller waves began to be coming near the boat. As she got herself onto the rope ladder attached to the boat, she used her heavenly petals and sent them out towards the waves, cutting them masterfully with their extremely sharp edges. She really hoped that that was the end of the onslaught of extreme force, but that was not anything compared to the massive tsunami that Rina was looking at, at that point in time. As she cursed to herself, she looked up at the tsunami and took a huge gulp. As she did, she used Heaven's lilly's on her spear, as the spear began to charge up with a extreme light. As she raised up her spear, she shot out 3 beams towards the wave. It blasted completely through it, leaving the wave to be weaker than it was before, but Rina still needed to figure out what the hell she was going to do. A wave like that could easily knock out their boat in an instant. All of sudden, her worries were over after some sort of huge obstacle had completely blocked the wave for her. However, her jaw dropped at the realization that the thing that blocked the wave, was the sea monster itself. It seemed as though it was mad, and Rina shouted out with a anxious voice and said, "Wow...when you say you do something, you really deliver, don't you?"

As she said this, the monster seemed to rush towards the boat, looking for vengeance, and hopeful for a good meal to heal up from. As she looked at it, she regained her composure, and shot out 3 arrows made of the petals of lilies. As it struck the creature, it cried in pain. However, knowing that the petal arrows, would only bruise it, not give it some lasting wounds, she decided to try out one of her newer spells. As she summoned near her side, a fairy made of purple light. Although she wasn't a real summon, she could still act as one. So, as she bulled back on the string of her bow, she sent out another one of her arrows. The fairy followed it, making the arrow a lot larger than it was before. She was clearly imbuing it with her power as it jabbed into the creature, creating an actual bleeding wound this time, with its force. As the fairy came back to Rina, Rina gave the fairy a small smile. However, it just being a spell from her magic, it did nothing back to her, besides looking at the creature with a stern face. With that, she looked over to Mythal, and said to him "Well, I hope that created a good enough weak point for you! I'll keep it distracted for as long as I can, but try to not let it get to the boat please!" With that, she shot out a few more arrows at the creature, merely stopping it with its force, but she could tell it wasn't doing any real damage to it.
