    Bakeneko’s Curse


    Magic Type: Summoning & Ancient
    Benefit: Summoning - Primary (3 summons) | Ancient - Auxiliary (+15% Defense)
    Lineage: Necromancer's Passion

    Description:
        Forbidden even in lands where regular necromancy is perfectly allowed, Bakeneko’s Curse is very special and ancient magic which has originated in the East. Though not quite falling into the category of Lost magic, the Forbidden Necromancy can only be practiced by an actual Bakeneko, a cat yōkai with the power to naturally control the dead. Putting this ability as a focus of magic, it becomes a powerful ability which possesses deceased bodies. However, this is no different from regular art of necromancy. This magic’s true power lies within the ritual known as ‘Awakening’.

        If a corpse is awakened, the soul that once belonged to it is dragged back inside of the flesh and bones from the afterlife or even oblivion, while at the same time its freedom becomes completely restricted. In other words, the ritual allows the creation of an undead which can act and think for itself, though it's will completely belong to the Bakeneko. Once awakened, the undead cannot disobey its master unless given explicit permission to do so. This is why the curse is seen as forbidden almost everywhere and all Bakeneko who practice this type of magic are hunted down and slain when possible, sealed away when not.

        Kuro herself is not fully aware of this magic’s history, though she has no problem actually using it. In addition, she has learned how to manipulate the raw life force that flows through those awakened or even risen by this necrotic arts. Paired with sub-spacial magic of forgotten mists, she can summon her undead army at any point and to pretty much anywhere. And although she controls such powerful magical arts, she has so far been unable to truly reach its darkest depths because of her own physical shortcomings, as the girl is magically talented but very frail in her yōkai body.

    Unique Abilities

    Necromancer’s Ward
        Mages which rely on summoned creatures are often quite weak themselves. This is especially true with Kuro, as the girl is especially physically weak, both her total health and physical damage permanently decreased by 75%. However, she is extremely talented in ways of magic, especially summoning and defensive spells.

        Not only are all of her defensive spells 50% more durable, but she also obtains a permanent ward that can by default block up to 2 spells of her rank (160HP). However, if this defense is destroyed, the ward will start using HP of any currently active summons of Kuro to block any further attacks until no more summons are present. Only then will the girl be actually susceptible to attacks.

    Queen of Undeath
        As someone who is mastering the arts of resurrection and darkness, Kurome has become even more of a special existence than she already is. A new power swirls inside of her that allows her to use spells of all creatures she had summoned and are currently present on the field. However, doing so will count as the creature itself using the spell and thus it will still enter cooldown.

        Another effect of this new power appears to be an ability to self-resurrect. Though this takes a lot out of Kuro and cannot be done very often, she is capable of surviving lethal strikes. Her body will simply regenerate even the most brutal of wounds and the girl will awake once more. (Plot only, requires OOC permission from those in a thread where the ability is used.)

    Name: Lesser Awakening

    Description: While the awakening ritual is a powerful ability that can permanently bind a deceased creature to a necromancer. However, this ritual takes a lot of time and energy, making it not very viable in combat. This is why the Bakeneko devised a lesser version which can awaken a deceased being temporarily. A corpse awakened though this power will scale to the spell’s rank and retain a single ability it had when alive. This ability cannot change until the summon is re-made and will always deal one type of damage along with one buff/debuff dependent on the acquired ability. If the corpse had no specific abilities, it will obtain a generic necromancer-based one. The scaling is as follows:

    Effect: No soul or body that has once perished is safe from the Bakeneko and their accursed magics. Using this spell, Kuro can forcefully invade the inner sanctum of a deceased body or a soul that has been separated from a living physical form, freely viewing their memories and knowledge. (PCs and NPCs of other players require OOC permission)

    Effect: Necromancy revolves around concepts of life force quite a great deal. Corpses simply cannot move without it, rendering the arts useless. And while not directly tied to the art of necromancy, Kuro had learned how to make herself far more sensitive to this energy. Upon activation, her eyes will glow crimson and veins of blood red magical energy will pulsate on her cheeks. In this state, the Bakeneko will be able to clearly see life energy of living beings, even through solid objects.

    Effect: Kuro can already warp her awakened to her location when needed, but she had learned how to utilise the sub-spacial forgotten mists for herself as well. Once per post, she can warp herself to anywhere up to 15 meters away. She also can use this power to warp her undead as well, though only by switching spots between two of her undead or an undead with herself.

    Description: A black hound with glowing red eyes, this beast has been revived by Kuro as her servant despite her intense dislike of such creates. While this might mean she will not directly interact with it, she will still no have problem unleashing it at her unfortunate victim and have it devour them whole.

    Name: Vicious Strike
    Type: Single-target ; Damage
    Damage: 40 + 20*3

    Effect: Lunging forward, the hound will bite into its target and tear apart portion of its flesh and veins, causing heavy bleeding. This attack deals attack by itself, with the bleeding dealing half of the initial damage per post for its entire duration.

    Duration: 1 post
    Effect: It is said that the houund of Baskerville is fear itself. So might feel differently about this than others, but one thing is clear. No regular person want to face this beast in battle if possible. For a single howl of this creature can inflict paralyzing fear on those nearby.

    Effect: When in need, Kuro can quickly drain raw life force from any undead she might have currently summoned. This will naturally damage the summoned creature (30HP), but will also heal the girl for more than usual spells of this rank will be able to. (90HP)

    Effect: Cloak of Woe is a peculiar spell that covers the user in pure necrotic energy that will corrode anything that gets close enough. Due to the difference in small range and high speed, it becomes extremely difficult to deal with for those who wish to attack from close range. Not only that, the very same energy will coat any attacks of the user, increasing their damage by 55%

    Name: Messenger of Souls

    Description: A very curious creature that Kuro managed to get hold of. Taking on the form of a small butterfly this creature will fly around the battlefield until it's the time to use one of its powers. However, any one attack will instantly destroy this creature.

    Name: Undeath Eternal
    Type: Burst
    Damage: N/a
    Range | Speed: 1 | 1

    Balance: Destroys the summon upon activation
    Effect: If any one summoned creature from Kuro is defeated, the butterfly may land on it and sacrifice itself to bring the defeated undead back with 1 HP.

    Name: Gates of Hell

    Duration: Instant
    Balance: Destroys the summon upon activation
    Effect: The butterfly may choose to land on an enemy of the Bakeneko. If a direct contact is established, the creature will sacrifice itself to conjure corroding energy from the afterlife, instantly damaging the enemy for double of the regular spell damage.


    Name: Lesser Death Mark

    Damage: 90
    Effect: Gathering as much necrotic magic inside of her as she possibly can, Kuro will release this attack and create a rather devastating explosion that will not only errode the bodies of those affected, but also forcibly tear out their souls. This effect counts as a stun as the souless bodies will be unable to move and the souls can return into them after one post. Those affected by this effect cannot be affected by it and other immobilization until at least one more post elapses.

    Name: Conjoined Terror - Divine Reaper

    Balance: Is limited to close-range attacks only ; 50% stronger melee damage / Has to be summoned alongside "Divine Prayer" ; The two summons share a single HP pool that consists of their life force combined.
    Description: Divine Reaper is what many would describe as the image of terror itself. Appearing as a hulking mass of skeletons mashed into a single vaguely humanoid form helt together with visible green magical energy. Easily towering over 7 feet, the beast shambles from place to place and uses the blade of a scythe that is in place of it's right forearm. One thing that sets this summon as even more unique is the fact that it has to be summoned alongisde another undead, the Divine Prayer. For the two are the coinjoined terror and cannot be separated by any means.

    Name: Stalker
    Type: Burst ; Damage

    Effect: The reaper may at any point in time enter a burst state in which it will instantly teleport anywhere up to the ability's maximal range and perform a singular empowered melee strike to deal damage within melee range. This burst is indicated by a small green mist that temporarily surrounds the summon.

    Name: Reaper's Blade
    Type: Single-target ; Damage ; Debuff
    Damage: 80

    Duration: 6 posts
    Effect: Pointing it's blade and suddenly stabbing it into the ground beneath itself, the Reaper can send a wave of magical energy beneath the earth's surface that will summon a considerable large blade upon hitting the desired enemy. This blade is formed by slightly translucent black magical energy and provided the target is not cleaved in half by it, it will also reduce their defenses and make them take 60% more damage.

    Description: Unlike it's counterpart, the Prayer takes on a form of fragile and small skeletal torso and skull with it's hands permanently stuck in a praying motion. In this form, the prayer is attached to the Reaper's back and reamins there completely immobile. It naturally also cannot perform any physical attacks or defend itself in any way. However, this is compensated for by possessing spells which are naturall stronger than those of its conjoined sibling.

    Name: Swan's Song
    Type: Burst ; Damage
    Damage: 120

    Balance: 50% greater spell damage and range (see balance of the summon)
    Effect: It is said that swans, one of the most beautiful creatures in the world, sing a beautiful song right before their death despite remaining silent for most of their existence. Such a wonderful legend has become the source of a deadly power that the Prayer possesses. Upon activation, the summon will let out a loud screeching noise that sends shivers down one's spine. Along with it, an invisible shockwave will travel the spell's range and all those hit by it will sudden feel an extreme amount of pain as the iron inside of their own blood starts forming into objects that will then be forcefully pulled out of their bodies, dealing damage and weaking them to slow their movements by 60%.

    Name: Protective Charm
    Type: Burst ; Defense ; Buff
    Durability: 160

    Duration: Passive
    Effect: Words like divine and prayer are rarely associated with things of evil nature. Kuro realizes this irony as she specifically turned a divine priest into her servant to create this being. And despite the necromancy used, some of that divine power still remains within the summon, now serving the forces of darkness. As long as Divine Prayer is on the field, it and Reaper will be shielded by a divine barrier that blocks up to two attacks of its rank. Along with this, all other existing barriers of this magic will be strengthened by 50% but only for as long as the summon is on the field.

    Effect: The stronger opponents Kuro has to face, the more she has to rely on her protective ward. Her frail body is simply too weak to be able to take any hits and survive, that is the reality of things. For this very reason, the bakeneko had spent a long time ensuring that the ward is as powerful as possible, increasing it's durability by aditional 50%.

    Description: Not your average corpse, the creatures of Ash are not of this world. Even Kuro herself doesn’t quite know where they came from, or what purpose they serve. All she knows that she had been given this corpse as a ‘gift’ when she left for Fiore. Finally powerful enough to perform the accursed rite of awakening, Artemis is bound to her will. Appearing as a floating torso of a reaper-styled knight with a scythe, Artemis will usually stick close to, if not right behind Kuro to aid her with melee attacks to anyone who gets far too close.

    Type: Multi-target ; Damage ; Debuff

    Duration: 8 posts
    Effect: The strike of Harvest with Artemis’ scythe creates a shock-wave in front of the knight. All hit by this freezing wave will only not get damaged, but a portion of their soul will also be torn out of their body and harvested by the knight. This will make the affected deal 45% less spell damage and 45% less physical damage.

    Name: Marked for Execution.
    Type: Single-target ; Debuff
    Damage: 120
    Range | Speed: 300 | 300
    Duration: 8 posts
    Effect: Focusing on a single opponent and quickly moving to it at the spell’s speed, Artemis slashes it’s victim and marks it for execution. Those with the mark will receive 90% more damage from all spells directed at them for the remainder of the duration, most likely assuring their complete obliteration.

    Description: A summoning spell that many might mistake for a Re-quip one instead. Upon casting, this ability will bring forth a flying greatsword, the blade made out of cold ash-colored iron and longer than the girl’s own body. It’s hilt covered in bandage wrapping, with part of the bandage moved revealing a peering eye, a yōkai that had possessed the weapon a long time ago. Not entirely alive, nor dead, Kuro was able to perform the accursed rite of awakening on the living sword and bind it to her own will.

    Effect: An empowered attack onto a single target, the Ashen Iron will fly through the air and impale the opponent without mercy, inflicting damage. If the enemy manages to survive this strike, they will take 90% more damage exclusively from Kuro’s summoned creature's abilities for the next 8 posts.

    Effect: Entering a guard mode, the ashen iron’s surface will become even sturdier than before. In this state, it will be able to withstand multiple attacks of its own rank before it can even be chipped. Positioning the blade in front of someone will change the killer’s weapon into a nearly indestructible shield.

    That said, few things that were either missed or I didn't understand
    • Hound of Baskerville - Vicious Strike: the damage was already as you suggested, I updated the wording so it says 20*3 instead of the total 60
    • Life force drain: If only burst spells can be instant (which I had no idea about and could use a link to it in the rules, thank you), then I have no idea what to write here for duration because the healing happens literally only once at the moment of cast and as such, it doesn't last even a single full post
    • Veil of Woe: No downside here, 30 is the max speed of C ranked AoE spell. It just has a low range
    • Messenger of Souls: The downsides are already listed above the abilities as they apply universally across the entire summon (low stats and using an ability destroys the summon completely)

    The downsides for the summon itself and the summon's abilities need to be seperate. They can, of course, share similar downsides (less speed, range etc.) though it needs to be specified in both the summon and the summon's abilities themselves.

       Forbidden even in lands where regular necromancy is perfectly allowed, Bakeneko’s Curse is very special and ancient magic which has originated in the East. Though not quite falling into the category of Lost magic, the Forbidden Necromancy can only be practiced by an actual Bakeneko, a cat yōkai with the power to naturally control the dead. Putting this ability as a focus of magic, it becomes a powerful ability which possesses deceased bodies. However, this is no different from regular art of necromancy. This magic’s true power lies within the ritual known as ‘Awakening’.

       If a corpse is awakened, the soul that once belonged to it is dragged back inside of the flesh and bones from afterlife or even oblivion, while at the same time its freedom becomes completely restricted. In other words, the ritual allows the creation of an undead which can act and think for itself, though it's will completely belong to the Bakeneko. Once awakened, the undead cannot disobey its master unless given explicit permission to do so. This is why the curse is seen as forbidden almost everywhere and all Bakeneko who practice this type of magic are hunted down and slain when possible, sealed away when not.

       Kuro herself is not fully aware of this magic’s history, though she has no problem actually using it. In addition, she has learned how to manipulate the raw life force that flows through those awakened or even risen by this necrotic arts. Paired with sub-spacial magic of forgotten mists, she can summon her undead army at any point and to pretty much anywhere. And although she controls such powerful magical arts, she has so far been unable to truly reach its darkest depths because of her own physical shortcomings, as the girl is magically talented but very frail in her yōkai body.

    Unique Abilities

    Necromancer’s Ward
       Mages which rely on summoned creatures are often quite weak themselves. This is especially true with Kuro, as the girl is especially physically weak, both her total health and physical damage permanently decreased by 75%. However, she is extremely talented in ways of magic, especially summoning and defensive spells.

       Not only are all of her defensive spells 40% more durable, but she also obtains a permanent ward that can by default block up to 2 spells of her rank (80HP). However, if this defense is destroyed, the ward will start using HP of any currently active summons of Kuro to block any further attacks until no more summons are present. Only then will the girl be actually susceptible to attacks.

    Signature Spells

    Name: Lesser Awakening

    Description: While the awakening ritual is a powerful ability that can permanently bind a deceased creature to a necromancer. However, this ritual takes a lot of time and energy, making it not very viable in combat. This is why the Bakeneko devised a lesser version which can awaken a deceased being temporarily. A corpse awakened though this power will scale to the spell’s rank and retain a single ability it had when alive. This ability cannot change until the summon is re-made and will always deal one type of damage along with one buff/debuff dependent on the acquired ability. If the corpse had no specific abilities, it will obtain a generic necromancer-based one. The scaling is as follows:

Upon activation, her eyes will glow crimson and veins of blood red magical energy will pulsate on her cheeks. In this state, the Bakeneko will be able to clearly see life energy of living beings, even through solid objects.

Putting this ability as a focus of magic, it becomes a powerful ability which possesses deceased bodies. However, this is no different from regular art of necromancy. This magic’s true power lies within the ritual known as ‘Awakening’.

       If a corpse is awakened, the soul that once belonged to it is dragged back inside of the flesh and bones from afterlife or even oblivion, while at the same time its freedom becomes completely restricted. In other words, the ritual allows the creation of an undead which can act and think for itself, though it's will completely belong to the Bakeneko. Once awakened, the undead cannot disobey its master unless given explicit permission to do so. This is why the curse is seen as forbidden almost everywhere and all Bakeneko who practice this type of magic are hunted down and slain when possible, sealed away when not.

       Kuro herself is not fully aware of this magic’s history, though she has no problem actually using it. In addition, she has learned how to manipulate the raw life force that flows through those awakened or even risen by this necrotic arts. Paired with sub-spacial magic of forgotten mists, she can summon her undead army at any point and to pretty much anywhere. And although she controls such powerful magical arts, she has so far been unable to truly reach its darkest depths because of her own physical shortcomings, as the girl is magically talented but very frail in her yōkai body.

    Unique Abilities

    Necromancer’s Ward
       Mages which rely on summoned creatures are often quite weak themselves. This is especially true with Kuro, as the girl is especially physically weak, both her total health and physical damage permanently decreased by 75%. However, she is extremely talented in ways of magic, especially summoning and defensive spells.

       Not only are all of her defensive spells 40% more durable, but she also obtains a permanent ward that can by default block up to 2 spells of her rank (80HP). However, if this defense is destroyed, the ward will start using HP of any currently active summons of Kuro to block any further attacks until no more summons are present. Only then will the girl be actually susceptible to attacks.

    Description: While the awakening ritual is a powerful ability that can permanently bind a deceased creature to a necromancer. A corpse awakened though this power will scale to the spell’s rank and retain a single ability it had when alive. This ability cannot change until the summon is re-made and will always deal one type of damage along with one buff/debuff dependent on the acquired ability. If the corpse had no specific abilities, it will obtain a generic necromancer-based one. The scaling is as follows:

It’s hilt covered in bandage wrapping, with part of the bandage moved revealing a peering eye, a yōkai that had possessed the weapon a long time ago. Not entirely alive, nor dead, Kuro was able to perform the accursed rite of awakening on the living sword and bind it to her own will.

Appearing as a floating torso of a reaper-styled knight with a scythe, Artemis will usually stick close to, if not right behind Kuro to aid her with melee attacks to anyone who gets far too close.

Sheilds are considered 'Active' abilities and therefore this ability requires a duration, you also need to state that if destroyed the shield cannot be restored within the same post but the post after.

    Queen of Undeath
        As someone who is mastering the arts of resurrection and darkness, Kurome has become even more of a special existence than she already is. A new power swirls inside of her that allows her to use spells of all creatures she had summoned and are currently present on the field. However, doing so will count as the creature itself using the spell and thus it will still enter cooldown.

        Another effect of this new power appears to be an ability to self-resurrect. Though this takes a lot out of Kuro and cannot be done very often, she is capable of surviving lethal strikes. Her body will simply regenerate even the most brutal of wounds and the girl will awake once more. (Plot only, requires OOC permission from those in a thread where the ability is used.)

Those affected by this effect cannot be affected by it and other immobilization until at least one more post elapses.

    Description: Divine Reaper is what many would describe as the image of terror itself. Appearing as a hulking mass of skeletons mashed into a single vaguely humanoid form helt together with visible green magical energy. Easily towering over 7 feet, the beast shambles from place to place and uses the blade of a scythe that is in place of it's right forearm. One thing that sets this summon as even more unique is the fact that it has to be summoned alongisde another undead, the Divine Prayer. For the two are the coinjoined terror and cannot be separated by any means.

    Effect: The reaper may at any point in time enter a burst state in which it will instantly teleport anywhere up to the ability's maximal range and perform a singular empowered strike to deal damage. This burst is indicated by a small green mist that temporarily surrounds the summon.

    Effect: Pointing it's blade and suddenly stabbing it into the ground beneath itself, the Reaper can send a wave of magical energy beneath the earth's surface that will summon a considerable large blade upon hitting the desired enemy. This blade is formed by slightly translucent black magical energy and provided the target is not cleaved in half by it, it will also reduce their defenses and make them take 60% more damage. Please specify if this is physical or spell damage reduction. Also, please lower the debuff by 10% as debuffs to damage reduction cap at 50% max.

    Description: Unlike it's counterpart, the Prayer takes on a form of fragile and small skeletal torso and skull with it's hands permanently stuck in a praying motion. In this form, the prayer is attached to the Reaper's back and reamins there completely immobile. It naturally also cannot perform any physical attacks or defend itself in any way. However, this is compensated for by possessing spells which are naturall stronger than those of its conjoined sibling.

    Effect: It is said that swans, one of the most beautiful creatures in the world, sing a beautiful song right before their death despite remaining silent for most of their existence. Such a wonderful legend has become the source of a deadly power that the Prayer possesses. Upon activation, the summon will let out a loud screeching noise that sends shivers down one's spine. Along with it, an invisible shockwave will travel the spell's range and all those hit by it will sudden feel an extreme amount of pain as the iron inside of their own blood starts forming into objects that will then be forcefully pulled out of their bodies, dealing damage and weaking them to slow their movements by 60%.

    Effect: Words like divine and prayer are rarely associated with things of evil nature. Kuro realizes this irony as she specifically turned a divine priest into her servant to create this being. And despite the necromancy used, some of that divine power still remains within the summon, now serving the forces of darkness. As long as Divine Prayer is on the field, it and Reaper will be shielded by a divine barrier that blocks up to two attacks of its rank. (May you state that the barrier cannot reform on the same post if it's destroyed? Or that it can only be restored once per post.) Along with this, all other existing barriers of this magic will be strengthened by 50% but only for as long as the summon is on the field.

    Effect: The stronger opponents Kuro has to face, the more she has to rely on her protective ward. Her frail body is simply too weak to be able to take any hits and survive, that is the reality of things. For this very reason, the bakeneko had spent a long time ensuring that the ward is as powerful as possible, increasing it's durability by aditional 50%.

    Description: Not your average corpse, the creatures of Ash are not of this world. Even Kuro herself doesn’t quite know where they came from, or what purpose they serve. All she knows that she had been given this corpse as a ‘gift’ when she left for Fiore. Finally powerful enough to perform the accursed rite of awakening, Artemis is bound to her will. Appearing as a floating torso of a reaper-styled knight with a scythe, Artemis will usually stick close to, if not right behind Kuro to aid her with melee attacks to anyone who gets far too close.

    Effect: The strike of Harvest with Artemis’ scythe creates a shock-wave in front of the knight. All hit by this freezing wave will only not get damaged, but a portion of their soul will also be torn out of their body and harvested by the knight. This will make the affected deal 45% less spell damage and 45% less physical damage.

    Effect: Focusing on a single opponent and quickly moving to it at the spell’s speed, Artemis slashes it’s victim and marks it for execution. Those with the mark will receive 90% more damage from all spells directed at them for the remainder of the duration (Spell damage resistance debuffs cap at 50%), most likely assuring their complete obliteration.This is a mobility effect, and thus follows the burst type spells. Please change this spell to burst, or remove moving to an opponent at spell speed.

    Description: A summoning spell that many might mistake for a Re-quip one instead. Upon casting, this ability will bring forth a flying greatsword, the blade made out of cold ash-colored iron and longer than the girl’s own body. It’s hilt covered in bandage wrapping, with part of the bandage moved revealing a peering eye, a yōkai that had possessed the weapon a long time ago. Not entirely alive, nor dead, Kuro was able to perform the accursed rite of awakening on the living sword and bind it to her own will.

Please change this to burst, or remove it.). If the enemy manages to survive this strike, they will take 90% more damage exclusively from Kuro’s summoned creature's abilities for the next 8 posts. Damage reduction debuffs cap at 50%

    Effect: Entering a guard mode, the ashen iron’s surface will become even sturdier than before. In this state, it will be able to withstand multiple attacks of its own rank before it can even be chipped. Positioning the blade in front of someone will change the killer’s weapon into a nearly indestructible shield.
