Their Last Drinks [Aeluri/Iris/Ahote] Empty Their Last Drinks [Aeluri/Iris/Ahote]

Post by Ahote 27th January 2019, 4:11 pm

It was late at night and a calming blue-black sky covered Fiore, speckled with stars and dusty clouds. Underneath this starry blanket were the silhouettes of many things: people, animals, and buildings again dimming electric lights. When towns turned dark they acquired their true beauty. Especially for a popular yet remote club in Capital Crocus—Boomslang. It was small, but its cool-colored lights were spectacular against the night sky, but the normally thunderous noises that came from this club were all but gone. In fact, only the squeaking polish against wine glasses, a rag, and the faint chatter of only a handful of people could be heard from within.

The club was empty, but at the fantastic, well-lit bar sat two women, a man, and the brown-haired, pretty-faced Ahote. He was supremely well dressed, as he normally was, in a traditionally colored vest-suit with golden buttons at its center and a black trench coat not directly being worn by him but instead hugging his shoulders and resting on his back. Across from them a bartender, who looked particularly indifferent and solemn. The four chatted among each other, some more than others while indulging liquors and other alcoholic beverages with names that were near unpronounceable to the average person. They had the entire club to themselves—as it was nearing closing time—and none of them wasted a moment.

The brown-haired, amber-eyed Ahote watched the three pleasantly. He was not as solemn as he normally was and instead wore a delightful expression. His eyes were sparkly and his smile was wide and weak as if his entire countenance was dripping with melancholy awe as if it were saying "What a crowd!" His glass did not look like everyone else's. It was a glass of water at room temperature that he only occasionally sipped.

But as the night drew on and the conversations became more questionable and voices more boisterous, he heaved an unrelenting sigh and audibly tapped his glass on the quartz countertop, "Ahh. . . aren't you all tired? Why don't we quit this?" he suggested. Of course, they might've thought that he was talking about their little group date. But what he really meant something different—disbanding Basilisk Fang and its pseudo-mafia, the Tesoro Family.

Their Last Drinks [Aeluri/Iris/Ahote] Empty Re: Their Last Drinks [Aeluri/Iris/Ahote]

Post by Iris 30th January 2019, 11:36 pm

It was a subdued sort of meeting, at least where the three teammates were concerned. There wasn't a definitive reason why. Maybe it was just the vibe the suspiciously pleasant Ahote was giving off, or even the emptiness of the normally raucous club. It certainly wasn't because the Buzz Killers were taking it easy on the libations. They had a name to live up to, after all. Iris had consumed plenty of strong alcohols from a myriad of diversely shaped glasses, but had managed to stay perfectly coherent. The worst thing he'd done so far was run his foot up Aelu's leg, but considering their normal activities, the cosmic being currently rocking his poster boy body was on good behavior. Sure, his voice was a little loud, but he had a very nice one at least-- smooth and lilting and forever flirty.

"Tired? We've only just started," Iris grinned, tipping back his shot of horrendously colored booze and savoring the high alcohol content as it buzzed through his nerves. Yes, though it neared last call, this was still a time when the rowdy trio would just be winding up for a long night. While it was unclear whether the lilac haired man was answering the question literally or how Ahote lowkey meant it, the answer still stood. The stardust might seem too drunk to comprehend, but he was deceptively perceptive at times. However, he couldn't show all his cards! If he was pinged at being too quick, it'd make it that much harder for him to get away with things in the future. It was far better to be underestimated than the opposite. "Buuut, if you're finally willing to join us in our room, I won't complain. There's this whip that the girls just can't use right..."

Once his words slunk out of his mouth, the cheerful face flushed with the heat of drink broke into giggles. It was a joke, a long running one between the guild master and his poster boy. It could be said that if Iris didn't make some sort of suggestive joke to their superior he wouldn't be true to himself, but anyone who knew him also knew that wasn't true. While the lovely lavender eyes he normally sported projected this particular personality they'd become comfortable with, it was hard to say it was who Iris was. Every set of eyes affected him differently. Each new pair changed nearly everything about him. And though he joined Basilisk Fang and the mafia following it, he'd yet to glean any leads to where the man holding his true eyes hostage might be. Did Iris drink to try and remember who he was or did he drink to try and forget?

The near-silence of the club was refreshing, even relaxing. Murmured conversations from the various straggling groups around the room permeated the air, interrupted by the occasional bout of raucous laughter. Normally a place like this, with all its noise, flashing lights, and people, would make Aeluri uncomfortable, yet she basked in the rare calmness. Peace, alcohol, and good company was a combination anyone ought to be content with.

Feeling Iris’ foot run up her leg for the umpteenth time, the mage’s mismatched eyes rolled exaggeratedly. Her teammate never relented with his flirting. As much as she would deny it out loud, Aeluri secretly didn’t mind. A dull sound of skin hitting skin could be heard beneath the table and she gave Iris a sharp prod with her own foot.

Another sip of cinnamon whiskey burned its way down Aeluri’s throat, settling into the warm pool of alcohol that already resided in her stomach. With each pulse of her heartbeat the heat spread throughout her body, contributing to the buzz in her head. Though she was drunk, she was coherent enough to somewhat catch the double meaning in Ahote’s words. “What do you mean?” she inquired with a cheery slur to her voice. “We just started drinking and we’re a family, right Giovanni?” The tease came with a hiccup and cheeks that started to flush with drunken warmth.

Ahote watched as both Iris and Aeluri continued to be none other than themselves. He loved both of their characters. Aeluri was clever and incredibly tolerant of just about anything Ahote's ever seen done to a woman. She was iconically always paired with Iris in whatever shenanigans, if one could call such atrocities and cruelty that, he found himself in. She was the stoic and yet equally as playful as Iris, making them and Sonya find a striking balance of personality. Iris, however, was much different in this case. Who Iris was strongly depended on whichever pairs of eyes he held at that time. Ahote could recall many instances where the Iris he knew wasn't really there—but he loved him and whatever fits he had regardless of this fact. No matter how he appeared before others, his flirtiness, obsession for eyes, and love for alcohol always remained, and Ahote loved it all.

"Oh, we're family alright. . ." Ahote said softly as his expression hardened at both Aeluri's and Iris's remarks, returning with a few comments of his own. They were brisk "no, thank yous" and "quit its" but what he had said wasn't a lie. He truly considered them to be family—beyond titles and hierarchy and not just in the Tesoro Family. He felt that if they should, part of himself should go. That, god forbid, one of them passed, some part of his own being would pass with them, and he'd mourn them bitterly. Their loyalties inspired awe in many others who witnessed it and his compassion for them had grown to be true and sincere. Their wit and playfulness helped relieve the burden upon his chest that was his inheritance from Famine. It was for this reason that when his face returned from a cringe into a softer poker-face, his eyes became clouded with thought and melancholy again. Who was he to keep them here?

He brought his room temperature water to his lips and sipped from the glass with dry lips, staring blankly into it and watching the irises of his eyes in the reflection, "You know, there are many people who die never leaving their hometown. They stay in one spot their entire lives. . ." Ahote peeked over to the two and smiled, "isnt that sad? Never knowing how far you could go? Your potential?" he continued, his face lighting up. But the light dimmed into only flickering radiance as he turned back to his glass, finally drinking some in gulps.
    AND THAT'S SUCH A SHAME

Their Last Drinks [Aeluri/Iris/Ahote] Empty Re: Their Last Drinks [Aeluri/Iris/Ahote]

Post by Iris 6th May 2019, 2:20 am

Iris basked in the expected, comfortable with the people he spent his time with. Unsurprisingly their leader fended off his suggestions in stride, as did Aelu engage in a footsie battle just below their field of view. He faked an impressive pout at them both, questioning their abilities to reject him so often and so completely when he looked like he did. Aelu he knew would most likely give in later once they were out of Ahote's view, but Papa Snek never wavered. He both respected it and regretted it. Ahote was a snack he longed to taste, but it was locked away under a glass dome, tantalizing but out of reach. Iris had always meant to test him with a female form to see if it was gender preference that stood in the way, but the opportunity simply never arose.

'Family' was still a foreign concept to the galaxy nomad. It'd been millennia since he'd seen let alone thought of the groups of particles that gave him life. They weren't the image of what humans would consider parents. They simply made sure black holes didn't suck him up before setting him off on his adventures through the universe. As far as a gathering of people he felt fond of went, he supposed this fell under his understanding of family. You usually didn't sleep with family, though...

Ahote resumed speaking, arriving at a strange point that seemed unconnected to the previous conversation. Iris idly wondered if he'd missed the segway conversation due to drunkenness or if Ahote was just being his usual cryptic self. Either way, he downed another shot before continuing. He'd need a shot to survive such an awful scenario. "God, I imagine that would be awful," the drunken Iris cringed, listing slightly on his stool but gracefully slouching into a comfortable position propped by one elbow. The frown didn't last long before it melted back into thoughtful neutrality. "I can't picture it since I've done...uh....extensive traveling~" the currently male Buzz Killer grinned coyly, mind hopping through some dry memories he'd not elaborate on. Why dry, you ask? It was because as much as they were informative, they were void of any feeling. It was like watching a modern movie in monochrome and subtitles. They were his, but he had no attachment to them. Those feelings were trapped in the eyes that had been stolen away from him and was one of the big reasons he desperately wanted them returned. Still, even if they were boring and near-documentary, he was well aware that he'd made his way through lightyears of space. He'd visited many planets, but fancied this one the most. Humans were his aesthetic, and what curious and exciting creatures they were. The chaos was delicious, so much so he never got bored of playing with them. Even on Earthland alone, he'd traveled extensively, so the idea of staying in one little place maddening to think of. "What brought that up, boss?"

Memories of her own youth churned in Aeluri’s brain at Ahote’s words. Faint images she had of her father and brother, followed by her mother and then her stepfather’s sinister face smirking down at her. She took another sip to try to clear her mind, the beloved cinnamon flavor turning bitter in her mouth. How could one choose to stay in a place where awful memories reside? How could one never be driven insane by their own pain, drummed up by familiar sights and smells? It was unfathomable to her. Besides, there was so much to see in the world. Not ten feet could be moved without something new to observe. Aeluri and Umbra often found themselves led astray from their path by a trail of interesting things. It was easy to forget where you’re going when something curious could be just around the corner of the path you’re on. Every person, place, and thing is different in its own right. Why would anyone decide to forgo all of that for the same experiences in repetition?

“I agree Iris,” Aeluri added, voice echoing in her glass as she took another burning sip of liquid cinnamon fire. “To live your whole life in one place by your own election sounds hellish. Not just minds are meant to roam.” The feline summoner gave Iris another swift smack with her foot beneath the table, then flipped her hair gently behind her shoulder once more.

“If I had the choice to stay whence I came or die, I think I’d rather perish.” The brash words were accompanied by half-lidded eyes and a raised brow, as if daring her companions to comment on the morbidity of her statement.

Both Iris and Aeluri had answered as expected of them. For people as adventurous and restless as they, it would've been hard to believe that they would've said anything different, or at least to Ahote. The more he had looked at the two, the most he realized that he really knew very little about them. He was sure that they knew much about himself considering the events that happened in his lifetime were few and very extensive, but as much as he debated the idea, he couldn't ever say the same about them. Iris Esperanza and Aeluri Atra—who were they really? He wanted to know more about them, but never enough to ask. He was. . . comfortable with how things were. The banter they engaged in and forced upon him, their scents like alcohol, and their atrocious humor—he never really cared to ask anything more from them than for them to just be themselves.

In which, this made his thoughts seemed tons heavier than before. They and everyone else who had dedicated themselves to the family and the guild beforehand deserved better, he thought. The business was only okay and their daily routines were completely unchanging. Despite what they went through together, it felt oddly close to living in the same place for your entire life, and their reactions made it clear as a cloudless day what they needed. A place to spread their wings—a cage-free lifestyle, Ahote thought. No matter how he looked at it, everything he had said or wanted to say only tied them down. So disbanding the family and the guild as they knew it was probably the best option for everyone, even though he was so sure that he'd never see them again afterward and didn't expect them to stick around and fulfill their loyalties so easily.

Iris ultimately ended up asking what brought about such a spontaneous question such as his, and Ahote couldn't say anything for a moment. He paused and a dead, thoughtful look overcame his expression. "I never wanted to inherit this thing. I didn't want the burden of dealing with the government or the responsibility of maintaining you all, you know. If Mother didn't go up and die on me and if Sol hadn't left, I wouldn't have to deal with all of this. . ." Ahote sighed from the very front of his throat. He toyed with his water, never bringing it to his lips and instead swishing the cup back and forth to watch the water crash against the glass. "I've lived on that mountain for most of my life and I've never seen the ocean. And now we're here. From one place to the next, but it doesn't seem like anything's changed, I think. So—well—. . . the thing is—. . ."

As the man continued to sputter his words, it began to look as if he were thinking aloud. He was never much of a talker around others, but he felt that if he kept silent for even a minute that he'd become depressed or frustrated. So finally, like his usual shyness, he stared at the countertops looking at his reflection in its shiny material and tightened his expression. His lips quivered and eyes narrowed, like an anxious little hare. It was clearly a more childlike expression of his. "I'm disbanding Basilisk Fang and the family, you see. . ."

Their Last Drinks [Aeluri/Iris/Ahote] Empty Re: Their Last Drinks [Aeluri/Iris/Ahote]

Post by Iris 26th May 2019, 8:42 pm

"Mmm, she speaks so affluently...I'm hot under the collar," Iris commented with a teasing smirk, mock fanning himself with a nearby napkin that had managed to avoid becoming soggy from drink spillage so far. The fanning ceased at some point during their leader's confession, though. The flirty man became enthralled in this new development. Bright lilac hues grew distant, trying to put himself in Papa Snek's immaculately polished shoes. Running a guild, a leader to the chaotic lot of them, nigh imprisoned in one place... he hadn't realized the warm water connoisseur was so miserable. Sure, he was broody and frowny and angsty, but Iris had always assumed that was just Ahote's default mode. Perhaps he should have explored a little deeper. Well, that wouldn't have worked either. Ahote always held everyone at an arm's length. Now Iris wondered if it was just due to social awkwardness inexperience with the outside world. That would certainly explain how the dark mage had managed to deftly evade every attempt at seduction. Ah, everything made sense!

Leaning over to Aeluri's ear, Iris hissed some words followed by a giggle. "Isn't he cute when he's like this?" he asked, making a very small gesture to Ahote and flushed with both attraction and drink. The shyness and bumbling syllables were adorable and a side rarely seen from the stoic young man. Iris adored discovering the various facets of humans. Always a surprise. Always exciting.

Even as the last words sunk in and revealed their true meanings, implications, and consequences, Iris found he wasn't upset in the slightest. He formed attachments to people over places and things, and while it would be more difficult to visit those he'd formed said bonds with, it was far from impossible. They'd always have Boomslang, right? Sympathizing with Ahote was easy. He'd never been able to experience worlds like the extraterrestrial had, or even on a smaller scale like his teammate. "You've been like a snake in a tank your whole life, haven't you? Maybe you should have taken the opportunity earlier...like when that a-hole blew up the castle," Iris drawled with surprising sincerity, but not without his usual hint of humor. This news didn't come without a little sadness, but his nomadic spirit wouldn't allow too much dwelling. He'd already stayed in one place for quite a while. The only other time he'd been settled for longer was far in the past and was the jumping point for his anarchic crusade against the Magic Council and to regain his original eyes that had lead him to Basilisk Fang to begin with. Perhaps getting too comfortable with a family of sorts had not been the best for him. He'd been idle too long. Everything had come full circle. It was time to get to work.

"This is fine, Boss-- Ahote," Iris smiled, sobering despite the copious amounts of alcohol in his system. "You have to promise you'll see the ocean first. If you want some company we'll come, but I'll understand if you want to explore the world alone. Just promise we'll meet up every so often, okay?"

Aeluri gave a scathing glance in Iris’ direction. The ocular mage earned himself another swift kick to the shin which she was all too eager to give.

The woman sat quietly and listened to Ahote speak. Well, stutter and speak. She realized the man had been talking about his own life, stuck in a castle and forced to take care of matters thrown upon him involuntarily. A pang of what could have been pity ran through her. Not only had he been stuck in that horrid building for many years, but his past seemed to haunt him in the form of Basilisk Fang and the family. It was forever tied to his parents and the legacy which shadowed him. Ahote had never had a choice to live his life the way in which he wanted to, whatever that may be. It was disheartening to hear.

Though it was the announced end of Basilisk Fang and the Tesoro Family, Aeluri didn’t feel strong sadness. It was the first guild she had joined as an emerging mage in Fiore, but everything had to come to an end eventually. The times with her guildmates were but memories now and she was okay with that. The summoner had always been a loner and the lack of company could be refreshing while she decided what to do next. Ahote seemed too tired to keep everything going anyway. He needed to get out and live a little, starting with seeing the ocean!

“Exactly what Iris said. To traverse the world alone is not such a burden. However if you decide some company is what you need, we’ll gladly give it. You’ve carried this legacy for a long time, Ahote. It’s about time you focused on your own path.”

For the first time in a long time, Ahote’s paternal demeanor dissipated into pieces. He looked to Iris and Aeluri with wide, teary eyes that looked like they’d finally moisten his cheeks if they had said anything more. It had been a while since he felt so vulnerable and naked with his feelings, but no matter how hard he tried to keep the tears from falling, it was in vain.

His face was covered in an enormous amount of tears, but his expression was so bewildered and stunned that it looked like he couldn’t believe that he was actually weeping. The tears were beady and began to swell in his eyes so much that they fell much like raindrops. Ahote prodded his cheeks with his middle and index finger, groping his wet flesh like it wasn’t his own. It took not only his cheeks becoming wet with tears but his fingers as well for him to finally realize what was happening, his entire complex flushing a peachy blush and being overcome with contrite embarrassment.

The former Guildmaster began to anxiously wipe away his tears with his wrists, his eyes becoming red and tender but the tears never stopping. He shrunk like a boy as he sobbed and bit his lips when Aeluri and Iris consoled him. ”Okay. . .!” Ahote said forcefully, choking on his words in between his sobs. Despite what Iris and Aeluri had said, he couldn’t help but doubt them. There had been many others he held just as dear who promised similar things, but those people were dead or gone now, and there was no sign of them ever coming back. He cherished both of them deeply but figured that he’d never have the courage to really tell them.

The sobs continued without ceasing and were beginning to anger Ahote now. His brows knitted together and his countenance transformed into his usual brooding one, glossed with contempt. Just how many tears had he been holding in? He couldn’t recall the last time he had cried like this—not even when he lost his arm or when he had first stoned a man to death. In a fit of anger and indignancy, he ripped his wet and ugly face away from his wrists and with a triumphant determination, demanded drinks in between his sniffling. Gyah! To hell with this! What are you guys drinking? I’ll drink some too!”

This was a monumental demand coming from Ahote, perhaps the only man in the guild who was not only an adamant drinker but not a drinker at all! That being said, when he did drink, he could hardly hold his liquor! He hated alcohol—the flavor, the intensity, the burning sensation and whatnot—but he hated crying in front of his friends even more. It was too late to return to his normal demeanor without expecting Iris or Aeluri to never let him forget this one time he had sobbed in front of them, and drinking wouldn’t even help in his situation. But anything was better than sitting here and crying.

Their Last Drinks [Aeluri/Iris/Ahote] Empty Re: Their Last Drinks [Aeluri/Iris/Ahote]

Post by Iris 29th June 2019, 3:00 am

So many startling things happened at in tandem that, for once, Iris was left gaping and speechless. His entire body froze mid-sip of his strong drink, lavender eyes widening and training on the face he scarcely recognized now. Lilac brows lifted and made homes higher on his forehead. Ahote was crying. Weeping. And ordering an actual drink? Were body snatchers things on this planet? If so, he was pretty sure their former boss had just been snatched. Had the occupation of guild master put such a burden on the young man that this was the very first time he'd been able to let go? It was pitiful. Once he recovered his cool, Iris reached for a nearby napkin and held it out to Ahote, hoping it would help soak up the waterfalls. "It's like watching a caged bird being released from a cage and flying for the first time," he commented to Aeluri, shooting his teammate a concerned glance.

Despite the jarring burst of the most emotion and vulnerability he'd ever witnessed in the man prior to this moment, Iris was now filled with the thrill of the unknown. The curiosity lighting his eyes almost caused them to glow. What would this newly freed Ahote be like? He intended to find out! "Bartender! Get this kid a juice!" the space dust nearly sang, teasing their present company. "And by juice, I mean...Hm. Get him an apple pie cinnamon cocktail," continued the nearly purring male, trying to pick a good first drink for his friend. Deviousness soon took over, however, and the tell-tale grin appeared on his lips. "Also, some shots. Surprise us." The bartender got to work and soon the drinks were presented. The delicious cocktail was slid toward Ahote, while the three shots stood at the ready for each of them whenever they were ready. Was he a facilitator? Perhaps. But if anything, he just wanted the last leader of the basilisks to relax and have fun and maybe even bond with his two friends. "Let it all out, Ahote. We won't judge, will we, Aelu~?"

Aeluri reciprocated Iris’ concerned glance. Their former guildmaster was reduced to a sobbing mess before them, a stark contrast to the way he had always presented himself. The cold, calculating Ahote she had met upon joining Basilisk Fang seemed like a distant memory - or even a joke. Tears streamed down his rosy cheeks in a seemingly never ending flow. It was a pitiful vision, but Aeluri wasn’t about to say such words out loud. Ahote was having a vulnerable moment and she wasn’t about to storm on it.

His sudden declaration of wanting to drink nearly made Aeluri drop her own. Ahote? Drinking? She had only ever seen him drink lukewarm water. Before she could process the shock to her system, Iris was listing off some starters for the poor man. Underlying her teammate’s words was a fevered excitement that she was beginning to share. Just how would Ahote react to alcohol in his system? What kind of drunk would he be? Perhaps he would spew more emotional outbursts, or even settle into a fit of giggles! She couldn’t wait to see.

“Exactly, Iris,” she replied to the enthusiastic violet man. “We’re the best drinking companions you could have, Ahote.” Turning to the bartender, she called, “Next round of shots is on me!” He gave a nod of acknowledgement. She watched Ahote and his drink intently, anticipation rising inside her. “Well, what are you waiting for? Have a sip,” she purred at him. The night was about to get a lot more interesting.

Ahote saw the napkin being handed to him and accepted it without a second thought. He was going to soak his tears with it and was going to stop sobbing all over himself is what he thought. But what really ended up happening was the former Boss tightly gripping the napkin with both hands at staring at it, lost in its whiteness as his eyes began to brim with tears again. If anything, just being given the napkin made him cry more. His face shrivelled up into this ugly contortion in a attempt to stop sobbing when he held it—and mind you, all the while wearing an indignant and defiant expression—but of course, it was useless.

Caught up in his own noise, he was too distracted to really comprehend what Aeluri and Iris were actually saying. He tried to listen but ended up only ever hearing them. He did his best to pay attention in order to distract himself from himself and ended up hearing Iris talk about giving him a juice. So that's exactly what Ahote was anticipating—a juice. Perhaps apple or grape he thought, as apple and grape were his favorites and was what he normally kept around. But he also wouldn't have been unhappy if he were given a lemonade or water kept at room temperature.

Ahote was so expectant of this juice that he failed to hear what Iris said afterward, and by the time he was given his glass and felt the cool drink permeate through it and onto his fingertips, it was too late.

In one gulp, Ahote drank all of the Applepie Cinnamon Cocktail, coughed, and sobbed even louder. "WHAT IS THIS? BATTERY ACID? I thought you said this was juice. . .?!" exclaimed Ahote in a squeaky, strained voice while looking over to Iris. He didn't look upset—just devastated and felt like a fool for expecting something sweet and soothing and being greeted with fire in his throat instead.

Ahote looked back into the empty shot glass with horror and longing, shaking the last drops of the cocktail around pathetically. That's what he did until, in a soft, sniffling whisper, "What is this, really? I hate this. . . can I have another? Can I have another one. . .?"

Their Last Drinks [Aeluri/Iris/Ahote] Empty Re: Their Last Drinks [Aeluri/Iris/Ahote]

Post by Iris 29th July 2019, 2:39 am

There it was! Ahote's first drink. One for the history books. Like a human infant taking its first thick breath and sputtering its cries of confusion and fear, their ex-fearless leader sob-gulped his first cocktail and shrieked. It'd been an obscenely long time since he'd had his first battery acid-esque first drink, but he did still remember. The violette snickered to himself, amused with the scene, though still a bit unnerved by the continuing emotional display. If he was already letting all those feels loose, did that mean they'd have a sad drunk on their hands this night? "Sure, you can have another," Iris uttered, though he took great pains trying to find one that was more tolerable. "It's an Apple Pie cinnamon cocktail, but I might be able to get you one that tastes less like alcohol...though it could be dangerous-- No, this is even stronger! I said make him something more fruity, mask it with apple juice," the man chided the bartender, trying to guide the employee to make something more to Ahote's liking. Iris was an expert bartender, obviously, and what he had in mind was far from complicated.

At this point, a few more failed drinks had quickly passed. Iris was frustrated with the bartender and crawled over the bar, anointing himself as the new drink maker for the near future with a quick shot of Spirytus vodka. No, he'd not be giving any of that to the budding drinker, since the strongest alcohol known to the common man had even him wheezing for a moment, and he was used to it! He made quick work of the drink he had in mind. With a fruit juice as a mixer, it masked the taste of vodka so well it couldn't really be tasted. With a shake of apple pie spice and a green-apple slice as a garnish, he slid the new drink to his old boss with keen interest sparkling in his beautiful eyes. "Try that one~" he purred, nearly giddy with anticipation. While he observed, he poured himself and Aeluri a couple more shots of the hard stuff, though he did make and nurse a drink identical to Ahote's. Boomslang had a very nice apple juice.

Aeluri barely held back her laughter at Ahote’s reaction to the Apple Pie cocktail. He had downed it all in one go like a champ and continued sobbing through the alcohol. The fact that he didn’t know what it was and called it “battery acid” in a high-pitched voice was utterly hilarious to the woman. She had to down another shot to prevent herself from displaying amusement. The poor man was already having a rough night so she decided to spare him from ridicule. Maybe next time she’d be able to poke a little fun.

Iris had taken over the bartender’s position and made the former Basilisk Fang guildmaster a more appropriate drink after he had begged for another. Aeluri gave her teammate a nod as he slid over a few more shots. Tonight was a good night to test her own limits. Yet another shot was downed by the woman and she let off a content sigh. Mismatching eyes stuck on Ahote, intently waiting for the alcohol to reveal his drunken personality. “This one should taste better than the last,” she began eagerly, “How do you feel?”

Both Iris and Aeluri seemed. . . anticipant for Ahote to drink what Iris had made for him, and Ahote didn't look very excited himself. When the glass was slid over to him, it didn't appear much different from what his employee had made for him just moments before. But this couldn't be the case since it was Iris who made it—and Iris wouldn't go through all that trouble to make the same thing twice.

After his revulsion with the first drink, Ahote cringed to the idea of drinking it again. But there was something about the discomfort it made him go through that eased his turmoil a bit, if only by a tidbit. Despite this, he still couldn't see why people enjoyed it.

With red eyes and a wet, sniffling nose, Ahote drank all of it in one go as he did before. Afterward, he slammed the glass down and released a sort of hissing noise from his throat as if to cope with the flavor and effects. It was at this point that the rather lightweight man's cheeks began to flush. ". . .I still feel awful if that's what you're asking. . ." Ahote said to Aeluri, who was probably referring to the drink. Abruptly, Ahote began to stare into his glass and weep again, almost cutely.

    Thud!

Ahote suddenly slapped his hand onto the countertop and, unfortunately, no longer appeared to to be completely sober. "My throat really burns and the world's gone to shit!" he complained, tears still soaking his cheeks and a frown still binding his lips. "This is pathetic. My guild goes down the gutter and all I can think of is going to see the ocean? Agh! Fuck, man! What else am I supposed to do?" Ahote's weeping suddenly exacerbated into sobs, and he would squeeze the palms of his hands into each eye in order to keep the tears from swelling too much. It seems that being intoxicated only made him even more insecure and upset.

The somewhat short man began to shake his head while blinding himself with his palms. "And everyone's gone. . . everyone—Mother, Sol, Yuiisai, Aemon. . . they all left me. . . why do they keep doing this to me, Iris, Aeluri? I bet they're all living lives without the burden of being in our guild. So why am I the only one who's like this? Are you two going to abandon me too—oh, I can't take this anymore. . ." Ahote murmured to himself, letting his thoughts pour out of his mouth and his tears soak his hands. He didn't know if the two would hear his muttering or not, but he dreaded the idea of being abandoned again, regardless.

Iris's mouth screwed up in disappointment. Ah, a sad drunk. Of course, Ahote'd be a sad drunk. Sending a disparaging glance at his teammate accompanied by a heavy sigh, the cosmic being resigned that this would be a whole lot less fun than he'd fantasized about. A shame. There'd been just a twinkle of hope that their former leader would ease up and perhaps let loose, maybe get a bit cozy, but it was all shattered. All it did was loosen his pent up emotional wounds so they could break through the walls and splay out for anyone within 10 meters to see.

In a rather un-Iris-like moment of pity, the purple enthusiast hopped back over the bar and entered Ahote's personal space, but not to do anything self-serving or overly flirty as would be assumed. Instead, he simply offered his comfort by holding his arms outstretched. Did it look a little awkward? Yes. Iris was an unrepentant creature of vices and seduction, so soothing hurting people without obviously trying to get in their pants wasn't his bag. Still, Ahote was a friend, and the otherworldly man was content to try and ease his pain. He might only look human, but he'd been around them and had enough sets of eyes to truly feel sorry for the mess of a creature sitting before him, orphaned and homeless and lost. Being the very physical type and preferring action over words, he stopped waiting for permission and hugged Ahote. "The ocean is very nice. Everyone should visit. I used to live basically in the ocean, and it was very sad when I had to leave," his smooth tone hummed, "There's no shame in wanting to explore your new life. You're free to do as you wish with no worries. Embrace it," Iris encouraged. The little snake had spent far too long cooped up in its tank. It was time to stretch.

The next part caught him a little extra off guard, but he continued to embrace his ex boss. Abandonment, betrayal-- he knew those. Though the brunt of those feelings from his past were lost to him and reduced to just clinical knowledge, the set of emotions that came with his current and favorite eyes allowed him to feel them again at least in a sympathetic aspect. "I may love humans, but I can acknowledge the species is a bit of a mess. A beautiful mess. They can suck and hurt each other. Speaking for myself, though, I'm not really human, so I can safely say I won't abandon you. I'm rather fond of you, even though you fend off my flirting as if you don't find me ravishing, which I know is impossible..." Yes, he did throw a little humor in to try and lighten the mood, though he was a bit serious. How dare Ahote resist him! HIs fashion was impeccable and any face he chose was a gorgeous one. Whichever gender he chose, any soul who saw it and touched it was truly blessed. In truth, the rejections only made his masochistic heart soar with thrilling frustration and delicious anguish, but that was neither here nor there. There was a time and a place. He wasn't a savage. Releasing one arm from the hug, Iris snatched another dry napkin from the counter and offered it to the soggy novice drinker. "Don't worry so much! The point of living is to try and find something you enjoy, so you have all the rights and freedom to do that right now. I think it's something to celebrate, don't you, Aelu~?"

The eagerness Aeluri felt was swiftly replaced by disappointment as stronger sobs racked Ahote’s body. She was desperately hoping he was a giggly drunk or a crazy drunk. The desire for him to be some sort of involuntary entertainment was self-serving to say the least. It would have spiced up the night for her despite how it may have affected Ahote. Alas, that dream was gone. Iris gave her a glance that showed he felt the same. Now was not the time to mope about it though.

While her teammate offered Ahote a hug, the raven-haired woman was not so fond of having her own personal space invaded for the sake of others. She felt bad for Ahote but was not about to give him an embrace like Iris had. So with a few scuffing noises, she scooted her stool closer to her guildmaster’s. Not close enough to touch, but enough that she hoped he would sense the comforting presence she was attempting to provide. Tending to sad people was way out of her wheelhouse, but she considered Ahote a friend so an effort was made. Aeluri placed a hand gently on his shaking shoulder as she listened to Iris’ encouraging words.

“Exactly,” she added in a sweet voice as her pretty companion finished speaking. “Think of this as a new beginning. Every abusive person, every moment of being groomed for a position without choice, has led you to this freedom. All of that is behind you now. You’re free to have your own dreams and aspirations. You can go to the ocean, take whatever kind of jobs, eat and drink whatever,” she explained as an amused glance was sent to the two empty glasses before Ahote. “You can do whatever the hell you want now!” Aeluri exclaimed. “No matter what you do, we’ll still be around. Basilisk Fang and the Tesoro Family brought us together, but our future stretches out from here. There’s potential for all of us, but especially you.” These words here genuine, coming from someone who was typically flippant and emotionally absent. Perhaps the copious alcohol had loosened up Aeluri’s walls around her friends. After she finished speaking, she reached for another shot of whiskey and downed it instantly.
