    New Lust

Getting to Fiore hadn’t been too much of a challenge. But getting out of it… that seemed like it would be far more complicated.

Kessicia had snuck aboard a vessel coming from Desierto, looking to finally escape the desert state and find a new land to call home. She’d been a denizen of that cruel land for so long that, even after her change, she couldn’t possibly stay. For so many years she had been passed around from master to master, held as slave and worker for each and every one of them. She’d gotten a taste of temporary freedom when one of her masters, a wizard who used sand magic, had been attacked by a pair of wizards some months ago. But she’d been taken back in shortly after, put back into chains and sent to a farm as punishment for deigning to think she could be free.

In a way, she was relieved she had been taken again. If she hadn’t, she never would have encountered the succubus, whose powers were now her own. But she couldn’t call Desierto home – she needed somewhere new. So she had hopped on board a vessel on the southern sea, using her new wiles to convince the men and women to let her ride for free. She hadn’t known the boat’s destination but that hadn’t mattered; anywhere was better than where she had come from. Once she had arrived in Hargeon Port, she knew she had decisions to make. Stay here or continue to travel? It was a tough choice but she’d only heard a little about Fiore and the freedoms it offered people.

First and foremost, she had to establish herself. And if Fiore was really as free-thinking as people made it seem, there was no need to go anywhere else. Still, she wanted to be prepared. After some conversation with people on the docks, she found out that the only way to even leave Fiore was to get a passport. That required having documents to prove who she was. A bump in the road but not much more than that. She had a new set of skills that would allow her easy access to whatever she needed – or so she believed.

She walked into the building with the confidence she had recently gained, her strides long but graceful. A line had formed of people wanting to get passports as well and there was much in terms of argumentative conversation going on but all of that stopped the minute she entered the building. All eyes were set upon her, the words cut off from their lips in an instant. She glanced at them and smiled, giving them all an impish grin as payment for their attention. She walked right up to the front of the line, sliding past the person in front and gently easing them out of the way with a passing of her hand on their shoulder. They moved without restraint, the man giving a soft sigh at having had her touch him. She set herself right in front of the officer, who stared at her with the same wide-eyed look that the rest of them did.

“Hi there,” she greeted him pleasantly. “I was hoping to get a passport. The name is Kessicia.” In a speed that surprised even her, the man was assembling the document for her, his hands flying around to stamp and press the passport so it was clean and official. With that he hurriedly passed it out to her and she took it, taking a moment to brush her fingers against his hand. “You’re such a gentleman,” she complimented him and gave him a wink before finally walking away.

    Step one; complete.
