Never having been to Midi, Arcadia couldn't just use her very handy new dimensional scissors. She'd had such real prophetic dreams from her mother, Khione Glacier, before, but this one was far different. Because now she was flying to meet her guildmate... or potential new guildmate. She didn't truly understand why her foster mother would guide her to a new guildmate, especially one her dream didn't make clear would even need help.  The only real things the dream had made clear was where, a remote Midian village, and when, an emergency in the immediate future.

As it turned out, the fairies at Fairy Tail's reception desk confirmed the emergency in Midi when they posted a job troubled village in Midi. It probably went out to all possible wizard guilds, but it was all the confirmation Arcadia needed to know to gamble a venture to Midi. If the rest was bunk, at least she will have helped people in need finding that out. While her scissors were out of the question, except for the return trip, trains were too. They would take way too long and turn her stomach in knots along the trip.

She did use her scissors to take her to the outskirts of Magnolia via portal. There was just more room for a 15 meter long ice dragon to take flight than in the middle of the street. Running straight out of the portal, she was transformed into a gray whale-sized dragon of never melting ice in a matter of of a couple steps. Surprisingly, it took little effort for her great frozen wings to get a couple hundred tons of nearly solid ice of the ground and kept aloft. Flurries of snow traveled with her, with or without clouds, being spawned the instant she transformed. Her currently, sparkling faerie green eyes being the one indicator of a kind young girl somewhere inside the small flying iceberg.

Arcadia as Young Adult Ice Dragon:

    Scale of Ice Dragon Size:
((The elephant was her size as a dragon at A-Rank, the gray whale is the size of her size as a dragon at S-Rank))

She circled and climbed high into the skies over Magnolia. It was going to be a long flight, and she suspected she would need to land a couple times at least to eat and rest up. Arcadia still believed she could fly to the village before sundown that same day as opposed to sometime the next day by way of train. Once she reached a comfortable cruising altitude, the young adult ice dragon banked one more time to set her course for Midi.

Now that she was focused on the mission, Arcadia was far less worried about her dream and more about what she would to do to help those people in the village. She started thinking more closely over the details listed in the poster, scant as there were. It didn't help that her mind had not been the most focused on reading it. One of the more vague senses, her dragon mother's spirit had left her with, was the supposed culprits for the village's trouble might be in search of the ruins of Dragnof. At least she got the sense that is what her mother's spirit feared. Thinking over all that, and finding this new potential guildmate her mother thought would help advert that possiblity had held her mind's focus while glancing over the poster.

That left the few details on the poster a little foggy in memory. Which is why she believed her memory to be faulty when recalling that the poster saying something about the perpetrators being related to Santa Claus? If she had not recently spent an entire day as one of her male guildmates and pretending to be another male guildmate for part of the same day, all to appease a wild crowd of worm fangirls, Arcadia would've thought the poster a prank. Clearly her life had taken a turn for the weird. If modern day Earthland could hold giant worms who happened to be fangirls of her friends, then Santa Claus cutting off and assailing a remote village in Midi was certainly in the realm of the possible.

Her flight was mostly unremarkable, just a lot time to be alone with her thoughts. After a couple stop overs for lunch and early dinner, Arcadia arrived over northern Midi. She had to use her iLac a couple times to make sure she was still on track. One thing she did remember clearly was that she was headed to a village called Livina in Midi's northern mountainous border region.

Just when she thought, she'd have to double check how close she was one more time, Arcadia spotted a landmark mentioned in the poster. The lone mountain pass road that had been cut off by a rocky landslide. It was the only way in or out of Livina, renowned mountain resort. She circled down and landed, shaking the ground. Arcadia wasted little time putting her dragon form's great size and strength to work pushing and rolling rocks and boulders off the pass. If additional help was to arrive on foot or wagon, the road would need to be cleared.

Even as a small walking glacier, it took Arcadia a good half hour to plow even a narrow path through the landslide. She did manage to clear a path at least one wagon wide, the rest of the landslide would have to wait. The dragon resumed the form of a teenaged human girl once she was ready to head into town. She wore a glowing crystal rose behind her left ear, and a Valhallan charm anklet around her ankle. The anklet, the Silver Star of Odin, is what allowed her to appear as her normal age as long as it was worn around her ankle. Without it she was bit a little girl. Arcadia was glad to have this workaround for now, though her curse had shown signs of beginning to wear off as late.

5 Year Old Arcadia ➳ 14 Year Old Arcadia:

She started toward the outskirts of Livina, keeping an eye out for the face of a girl.. woman she had only seen in a dream or any sign of Santa Claus aligned perpetrators. If she was lucky, she could talk these Santa Claus perps down without a fight or maybe that was why her mother had pointed her to this woman. If they could be talked down, maybe she could find out if there was any truth to her dream-inspired fear of their designs to find Dragnof's ruins. With her mother's remains laying the in ruins as an eternal glacier of ice that never melts, Arcadia had an interest in the location of the ruins remaining lost to legend and time. It was the easiest way to ensure no one desecrated her mother's place of rest.

Post by Yuiisai 16th January 2019, 1:23 pm

Demi had no idea that their was an issue within earthland given that he hadn't been in any guild hall for so long, well that and she refused to get one of those stupid ilac things that everyone seemed to be so hyped over recently. She didn't like being like a dog on a leash at a masters beckon call, she had enough of that with her primary task in life or well for her death. It wasn't exactly like she could ignore those calls either given the gem at the back of her neck was were everything was stored, her personal information, her link to what she was, her rank within it, her family line and her weapon if it was ever needed. She hated having this thing back on her neck because it meant if what happened in the past with Ruvel happened again she would have no choice but to reap him, before her immortality was being regained and she was having to align with her home realm so she had an excuse not to have it. She had already warned the other reapers if they even dared to float around him with the intent of reaping him, they would have to go through her first and she would aim to take them out of existence permanently. It seemed like a warning they had heeded as the only other reapers that went near Ruvel was her twin brother Oykai and their now little sister Korvin, whom both had a non reaping clause like she did in their contracts which was fine by her. In her opinion the youth had suffered enough and deserved a good long life to experience the things that had been taken from him earlier in his life.

Given this was her own first year of experiencing true freedom she had been doing some research into the season to know what to expect, last thing she wanted to do was feel out of place because she didn't seem to know the traditions of the place she had decided to use as her home at least for the moment. She couldn't say that it would remain this way as where she may have been able to see the building blocks of the cosmos she still wasn't a child of fate but of death. She was still trying to get her head around that one after years of being within the realm of mortals. She would complain but that would get her no where and she knew that besides being raised as she did get rid of the weaknesses many of her kin held, such as the weakness to the sun she still stood out like some weird china doll however as she didn't have any pigment in her hair or skin but now she knew there was others that had that same thing she didn't feel as self conscious about it. Now for why she had actually travelled to this village in a distant country in the first place, she was looking for gifts for a few people though she knew one of them would be like her and not really see the point of it after all he had been brought up in the facility she spent quite a bit of her own life in after protecting her sparring partner Cirven for doing what they had been taught to do and that was to protect their 'family' from all attacker. That being said they didn't exactly think one of the threats was one of their own but it was what it was when a scientist stupidly done such a thing to their own son, before then filled their head with grandeur it had been an idiotic move in her opinion from the start but hay who was she gonna complain to on that one? If she had she would have ended up in punishment and being bound while she slept was already an irritation. she couldn't help that her touch if she wasn't focused was a deadly one it was something for the longest time she believed they had done to her, no such luck seems it was a biological family trait.

Her blood ruby eyes looked over many of the Christmas themes and displays that were within the windows of the toy and clothing stores and stalls. She knew if she even thought about getting either for Ruvel he'd end up never using them, he may have looked like a child but he had a sharp mind of an adult and as for clothing he preferred to make his own not that she could blame him on that one given the fabrics he had to wear since arriving at the facility, often it was rags and the fabric was scratch as all hell. Well that was unless you were chosen for the blood moon festival, she had to admit after seeing Ruvel's reactions when he came back from such things she was glad she was never chosen. One time those like them all hid the youth, everyone had denied knowing where he was it was a mistake and they had all felt the aftermath of it. That aftermath had turned the entire place against the youth, it hadn't been his fault as he hadn't asked them to do such a thing but still he had taken the blame none the less with a smile. She remembered his saying that she couldn't blame them for their hate, he had caused their punishment and even encouraged the others to say where he was when asked regardless of why. She really wish he hadn't because his own punishment for apparently trying to start an uprising almost ended up with him dying over twenty-four times over eighteen days as they kept him awake and experimented on him constantly.

Shaking her head she put such dark memories aside, her own white hair dancing around her form like snow. Right now she was dressed in a maid's dress that came to just below her mid thigh, that had an apron, stockings, black dolly shoes, and big bow in her hair. She slowly moved to the next store in the street to look within the window and smiled, it seemed to be an educational store and was about to head for the door believing that she finally found a store she could get something for Ruvel that he could appreciate given the issues that he had. That was until she seen something reflecting in the glass, was that a festively coloured portal? She didn't think her little sister Korvin would have been let out of the death realm so soon without either being summoned or having someone with her while she trained in her new duties. Turning around she slowly moved towards the bright green and red portal with christmas trees and snowmen symbols analysing it for a moment before bringing out her hand and poked it, the moment she did she jamp back her eye narrowed as she seen things that didn't look right come from it, was it to hard to have once nice day for a change?

She watched as from the portal what could only be described as photo negative versions of the elves she had been in the books and such, several polar bears and four highly decorated trees. "What in death's name?" she said trying to wrap her head around the whole situation, it wasn't exactly like this was abnormal for her given what she had seen in her lifetimes but at the same time it wasn't exactly normal either. "I just wanted to do some gift shopping, is that to much to ask?" she grumbled in an annoyed tone fully unaware that she was going to be meeting another mage who had been making their way there not only to help the issue that seemed to have been popping up everywhere but to meet her thanks to a vivid dream she seemed to have recently had.

The pale blonde slayer had made her way into the heart of town. You almost would not know the town had been cut off from the rest of Midi with the way the townsfolk were going on with their lives. She guess the attacks had  only been around  mountains surrounding the town so far. Arcadia doubted that bit of good luck would last. No one would go to the trouble of cutting off the only route in or out if they did not mean to move in, or at least make some demands.

Livina, Midi really was a beautiful mountain village. Sure a lot of the cute little shops she was passing by catered to tourists, but that was Livina's bread and butter. They would not exist if not for the people drawn to this posh resort mountain village.  It was all so picturesque that the slayer realized she had been lulled into letting her guard down.  For all she knew, the holiday attackers could be laying in ambush.

Arcadia immediately used one of her favorite spells, Refraction, to displace her image a few steps from where she truly was as a precaution. She was still hoping to talk them down, but she also did not care to be caught out in the open in case they had other plans.

Just ahead, festively colored portals opened up. Before Arcadia could advance toward them she felt a slight pressure headache. It was a discouragingly familiar sensation to the young blonde slayer. It Bob the Dream Demon, an entity from the Nightmare Realm she had the misfortune of meeting in Valhalla. His visit was brief this time, however, as she looked around bit mot see the demon anywhere.  She only heard his voice in her mind.  He did not sound happy.

It was your mother wasn't it. Too bad! Too bad, if she hadn't been so nosy, I would have had quite the surprise party for you in Dragnof. I was just seeing about convince the hosts of this shindig to move their fun to your old home. I managed to convince some of them, but not enough. Now that you've come early, and ruined the surprise, it wouldn't be polite of me to ruin the current hosts' fun too. Besides you mother cheated and apparently found you a potential new friend, which just spoils any other fun we could've had. I'm afraid you'll just have to wait. I'll surprise you yet!

Just like that, the pressure headache was gone and any sign of the dream demon.  At least, she would not have to deal with that headache, literally and figuratively, for the rest of this mission. The dream demon's words did put some more doubt in her mind about the possibility of talking her way through.

Arcadia approached the portals, her image refracted a few steps ahead. She offered a friendly smile and wave to the elves, though she did not approach to closely, lest she invite the polar bears with the oddly color-schemed elves to investigate her image too closely. The pale blonde slayer introduced herself, "Hey there. I'm Arcadia Fairchilde of Fairy Tail. I'm here to make sure these townspeople don't get hurt. If they've wronged you or your leader in some way, I'm sure we can work something out. Nobody needs to get hurt today."

For one long moment, some of the elves appeared to mulling over a response.  Right as one was about to speak, one of his more trigger-happy compatriots ruined chances for a purely diplomatic solution.  Before the elf who was going to speak could get them to hold, that one trigger-happy elf got more than half its allies to attack too. Once so many of Santa's minions were committed, even the elf who might have talked joined in.

It only took one swipe of a polar bear's massive paw to extinguish Arcadia's image. The young slayer shifted the focus of her spell to keep herself invisible. She also conjured a small army of of puppet clones of herself made from tiny ice crystals suspended in mist bending light into visual illusions. There were at least twenty-one puppets she had conjured, and she used them to run interference and create confusion among Santa's minions.  The many illusionary copies of Arcadia basically kept them busy, while the real Arcadia put a little breathing room between herself and them. Keeping Santa's minions busy was all the puppets could do on their own with no offensive capabilities or actual substance to them. In her partial retreat, Arcadia noticed the face she had seen in her dream off toward a shop right next to the festive portals.

This was going to be a hard fight to pull off on her own. With even a little help though, it might be possible to spare a few of even most of the minions. If Arcadia were forced to worry too much about her own survival in the fight, she would not have the luxury of holding back or using the finesse necessary to avoid killing.

Arcadia snuck her way over, leaving her puppets of mist to keep the holiday minions occupied, while she approached the woman, noting the impressive magic power emanating from her.  If her mother had been right, this mess could still turn out alright.  Glancing back over her shoulder, Arcadia was glad to see her puppets were not only keeping the holiday minions attention away from herself, but also giving any Midian townsfolk in the area a chance to flee to safety.

The pale blonde slayer shifted the focus of her refraction once more, allowing her image to appear a couple steps to the side.  It was not a precaution not against Demi, but against being spotted by any of the holiday minions.  She smiled to the older wizard, "Hello. I'm Arcadia Fairchilde of Fairy Tail. I sense magic power of no small measure from you, and I sure could use your help."

Time being an ultra precious commodity at the moment, Arcadia skipped over subjects like prophetic dreams and dream demons named Bob. Mentioning them would only raise questions, and she would end up wasting most of that time giving answers. "If you need compensation; that's not a problem. I'm one of Fairy Tail's aces, so I could arrange that easily enough.  Or we could provide you with ample opportunities to earn all kinds of jewel.  If you help me here, we can pretty much skip the usual interview and guarantee you'll be in. Who knows, maybe you'll make a few friends if you don't mind them. Anyway, I'd like to be able to spare these guys' lives, and I'm pretty sure I can only manage that with your help. So whether you do it only for the immediate jewel or to join is, I hope you will help me out."

Arcadia glanced back to see how her puppets were holding up, and it looked like she had lost about two of them.  She mentally commanded the rest to begin drawing the holiday minions into a more closely clustered group.  The young slayer smiled back to Demi, "Now that I think about it... you kinda look like Ruvel.. Hmm.."

Turning toward the minions, she hurried to the most open part of the street.  Thankfully most townsfolk had fled the area by now, so there was plenty of room for her to take on her dragon form.  The ground shook a little as she grew into a 49 foot (15m) long monstrosity of nearly solid ice.  At nearly the same time, Arcadia tapped into the Silver Star of Odin to change the output of her magic from ice to elemental crystal.  Her spells were not quite as potent with crystal as they were with ice, but it should bypass any resistances or benefits to cold that minions of Santa might have in common with an ice dragon slayer.

To keep the holiday minions from rushing her and ruin all her puppets' work to clump them together, she stomped one forefoot. Crystal spread out in sheets over the ground toward the tightly clustered minions, and encased all the feet and tree trunks in the area. They wouldn't be going anywhere without some effort or help from Arcadia.  She helped about five elves, polar bears and two festive trees by tapping into her dimensional scissors.

Arcadia opened up a hands-free portal under their feet and trunks, their combined weight helping shatter the crystal that held them. Those elves, polar bears and two trees all dropped out of sight. An exit portal had opened up about 100 meters straight up, causing it to rain elves, bears and trees on the minions she had missed.

The young adult ice dragon pressed her advantage, not giving the holiday minions a chance to gather their collective wits. She inhaled and unleashed a great roar sparkling with countless tiny razor-sharp shards of crystal over the sprawled holiday minions.  She risked whatever surprises the Christmas trees had in store by lounging for the nearest one, ripping its trunk up from the ground in her jaws. Arcadia turned the 15 foot tall tree into a giant club swinging and sweeping it back and forth in front of her as the holiday minions finally got a chance to spread out and begin their counterattack.

Post by Yuiisai 21st January 2019, 1:11 pm

Demi had kept her eyes on the ever growing small army that seemed to have continued to pour forward from the portal she had touched only moments ago, she knew that she was in no way an expert of the season given her up bringing but she knew for a fact this wasn't normal. Polar bears would only be roaming free in the glaciers, she learned that one the hard way during one of her first jobs when she was still under the control of Cor Torva. The only time she knew people could see such fierce animals was in the habitats within a zoo, she personally thought that this was cruel but then she had been kept in captivity for the entirety of her life so she was somewhat sympathetic towards the idea of other living or unliving beings in such predicaments and wanted to kill them all. Don't get her wrong she had the ability to do such things but that came with so many problems it wasn't worth the hassle to end their lives prematurely, she could and would punish the bastards who done such things when claiming their final breath because she made a personal promise that those who took pleasure in causing pain to others would never fade into the light peacefully if she was sent after them.

She watched as the portal seemed to go inactive but not vanish and this was beyond suspicious to her because it meant that there was likely something yet to make an entrance, bringing up a hand she began to count everything "Lets see we have six elves, those shouldn't be to much of an issue... four polar bears... those could be a bit more difficult..."she pauses as she seen two of the nearby decorated fir trees moving and blinked having not seeing them come through originally "I need a break because I swear I could see two of those trees moving..." she rubbed her eyes thinking that she was just becoming delusional but no such luck as they where still moving "One day, that's all I am asking for... one normal day..." she huffed her blood ruby eyes narrowing as she was hit by a snowball "You know what, I've had enough you're all dead..." she growled wiping the frozen water off her cheek, as she was about to dash forward she heard another voice over the small chuckles of the elves and blinked turning her gaze to see a young woman with blonde hair and tilted her head 'Great is this another thing I'm going to deal with, I really don't have the patience right now.' she thought to herself.

The doll like maid looked to the other and sighed for a moment before her mind could compute anything that was being said "I'm sorry miss but this isn't the time for idle chatter, I need to sort this..." she paused for a moment as she had no idea as to what this could really be called "issue before it hurts anyone whom is innocent. I came here to gather presents not souls." she said with a silent sigh as her eyes closed, it was then she took in the entire conversation and opened her eyes "I do not require compensation, really, no one around hear is meant to die anytime soon... well not by insane midgets, snow bear attack or by the smell of disinfectant or allergy" she said in a matter of a fact way "Wait did you say you are a mage from the guild known as Fairy Tail? I met a void touched within my home realm... he is the chosen of chaos so I have come to understand." she said thoughtfully as she thought back "His name is Markus Eldridge, he spoke fondly of your guild and hopes to return soon. He truly misses you all" she explained with a smile hoping this knowledge of the missing mage would help the other feel better.

She went over the rest about becoming a member, making friends and the like but that seemed dangerous for one such as her so she understandably unsure about such things. "I work for the West Fiore Trading Company as a maid, is there any issue with me retaining such a job. I like to be close to some of the people there." she enquired if the answer was no then it would instantly be a decline without further notice, she may no longer be bound to Ruvel as she once was but she still wanted to protect him the best she could. This was also to do with the fact that she was one of the very few that knew all his triggers and how he would react about certain things such as medicines. Hearing a new statement broke the death goddesses train of thought and made her confused to no end. "If you think I look anything like Rui you need your eyes tested miss." she stated her tone showing she wasn't kidding on that "We aren't even the same race, though with how pale he is I can understand why you may think so but even then he still has colour were I have none." she said trying to think why the other would believe that they looked alike "Either that or it is because he also looks quite feminine for a male?" she enquired, it hadn't been the first time the young CEO had been hit on or been mistaken as a girl.

Seeing what the other was doing she had to get out of the way, she could only imagine what was going through the Fairy Tail mages head when she decided to turn into a full fledged dragon in a Midi town "Are you some kind of fool miss?!" she called out to her as she seen some of the straggling towns folk hit the deck, they had only been talking for a few moments and she was already in a foul mood with the other "Dragons are sacred in Midi like towns, you doing that right now puts every civilian that sees you in danger!" she yelled out in a cold tone moving to get in front of some of the bowing people her scythe coming from its inactive gem form to its weaponized form, her clothing changing from that of a made to make her more look like a gothic lolita doll; this consisted of a black dress with white frills, matching bonnet, white stockings, black dolly shoes. She really had to have a talk with this girl and Rui after this was done because this wasn't an ideal situation and she refused to be in it again. She could understand Ruvel making such a mistake as he had went from a bubbled life to one of servitude in a facility that was not on any map, but then again he had always made sure to educate himself when it came to entering other cultures or countries to he might no ways not to create ripples or bring attention to himself.

Seeing two of the polar bears rushing towards her she didn't even bother activating any of the abilities of her magic or weapon, she didn't blame them for how they were acting as she'd be grouchy too if she ended up somewhere she wasn't meant to be "Times like this I had calming magic." she sighed moving perfectly as if in a dance several strikes hitting both bears, the attacks where precise meant to immobilise the poor things with the least amount of pain or need to kill them. Her blood ruby eyes looked around as she seen that the rune knights had finally showed up to help, only pausing to see a large ice dragon attacking the enemy though they seemed unsure who the true enemy was at current "Stop gawking and get the stragglers to safety, if you see any enemies along the way take them out." she ordered them, she didn't give a damn if they were some powerful force in Fiore. This wasn't Fiore and right now wasn't the time for delicate negotiation of who was doing what. With a nod of understanding they went about gathering the bowing people who were in danger attacking the elves or straight up throwing them back through the portal to prevent doing damage to them.

While the other seemed busy with the walking firewood she herself would claim the lives of the two bears that had tried to attack her with a few more deadly attacks, she made sure that this also had been humane as she put them out of their misery quickly and as painlessly as she could before she started to dash towards the next few enemies. That was until she stopped in her tracks seeing a present being launched in her general directions but it didn't fully sink in until it had exploded in glitter and confetti "What the hell?!" she said feeling her connection to her home realm fading, her eyes showing anger as she changed direction and headed right towards the tree she had no care that she had no magic. This thing had just made a mistake and she was going to make it regret even sprouting as she jamp up the trunk and from branch to branch scythe still in hand. As she got to the top she dug her scythe into the bark making sure it made the tree feel it before pulling down in a diagonal motion as she she thrust herself forward and down spiralling down kicking several branches and decorations along the way until she got to the ground. Once done she climbed to the top and done it again repeating the same motions until it fell over as if being cut down her anger still there but calming a bit at least.

News of another guildmate was pleasantly unexpected. It was a point in Demi's favor, and an important one. It felt little weird, a stranger, in a country far away from Fiore, potentially knowing more about a guildmate than she did.  Markus Eldridge was mysterious alright, a mystery she had yet to meet in person. Yet Arcadia did know one thing about Markus, this potential ally did not. Maybe she would be happy to know it. "Good to know he missed us while he was gone. Never met him myself, but I've heard talk he made it back safely. If you had anything to do with that, thanks. I feel he may mean a lot to my big sister. And there's nothing to worry about your job at the WFTC.. You may not officially be working for them, if you should join Fairy Tail, but WFTC are very close allies. I see no reason a liaison position could not be arranged where you keep basically the same duties. Then again there's no real reason you could not keep it as a secondary job, if it was alright with them."

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

That may have been the last easily pleasant things Arcadia said to the extra pale wizard. Once she got serious, turning dragon, about doing what she could to help, Arcadia's first impression had very much turned sour. It was a whole vibe she was detecting since first introducing herself that was only clarified by critiquing the manner of the emergency help she had flown across a continent to lend. Part of her was questioning her mother's judgment.

Then again the mercenary nature of Fairy Tail meant she did not mean she had to like everyone who joined. She shifted her frame of mind to a purely professional one. Getting through this fight and making sure the townspeople stayed safe demanded it. ”Cultural niceties went out the window, when I, the only apparent wizard to answer their call for emergency aid, came under fire out here. Maybe if the active threat they need protecting from didn't greatly outnumber us, I could afford to be pulling punches. Maybe  the Midian people are smarter than you give them credit for, and put self-preservation above their reverence for dragon-kind. You'll notice most of them have retreated to safety, because a dragon has been sent to help save them. I guess I'm lucky you happened to be here or I really would be the only wizard around to help.” Turning her faerie green gaze to any others bowing toward her, "Listen to the churlish one. Follow those Rune Knights and the others. I... We can't protect you, if you run to the danger I've... we've been sent to protect you from. Now run!”

Luckily, Arcadia did have a working relationship with the Rune Knights, so once one of the officers recognized her, their confusion was cleared down through the chain of command. The ice dragon was unfortunately now otherwise too engaged in the fight to get in more than an exchange of nods and a few words, "Major Tanaka. Good to see you again!"

Major Tanaka:"Good to see you too, Ms. Fairchilde. Wish it was under less urgent circumstances. Come visit in a few days."

With that Major Tanaka and the Rune Knights went about following Demi's instructions, since they were the most sensible thing they could do to help right now.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Arcadia's opinion on the mage her mother had directed her across a continent to find had softened for the better as the fight had progressed.  Especially after the trees launched their presents. The explosion of confetti and glitter also robbed the ice dragon of all the magic power she held within her.

That would have spelled the end of the fight for her, and maybe worse. A young slayer reverted to human by suffering sudden magical sickness would have been easy prey for one of the remaining polar bears.  Instead, she was able to remain in dragon form a while longer, saving her life and allowing her to fight on. What allowed this? The divinely blessed crystal moon rose that had melded in with her form with the rest of her clothing and other personal belongings, like any of her other magic items, kept on working of she been wearing them when she transformed.  The same crystal moon rose Ruvel had given her back at the festival in Tolgalen, now shared some of the mana stored within it.

She could feel the warmth of the blooming love it held the promise of spread through her, and the rose's glow shone dimly around all of Arcadia's ice dragon form.  She was saved for now, but she knew even the rose's gift would not sustain her long on its own. This fight had to be ended and ended soon.

The ice dragon felt growing admiration and respect for Demi's tenacity, because as far as Arcadia could sense the other mage had been drained of magic power too. She took that as inspiration to renew her own fighting spirit.

Just in time too, because the remaining elves, bears and one tree  surrounding Arcadia jumped on the opening that losing her personal magic power had given them. Individually, their attacks did little against her scales of ice that were further protected by conjured magical armor of extra ice over them. Collectively, their were chipping, scraping through,  which was adding up to a wounded dragon.

Shaking them off, Arcadia earned a little space with a sweep of her tail and a swing of the tree she was using as a club. The ice dragon followed with a frosty roar that she swept left to right in an arc around her by a simple turn of her head.  Another sweep of her tail and its bladed tip splintered the tree she did not have a hold of, finished off all but one bear that her frozen breath had not, and bowled over a couple elves.  Slamming the tree she had weaponized finished off the last poor bear and slamming it one more time would splinter tree itself.  Her makeshift club rendered useless, Arcadia gave the remaining elves reason to retreat back into the portals they came from.  The ice dragon's bite and talons were quite persuasive.

Arcadia thought that would have been the end of it, but any sense of victory quickly vanished when the portals failed to close after the retreat.  It did not take long for the new threat to emerge. Arcadia's heart sunk a little, while she could remain a dragon indefinitely, that all changed as soon as she started using magic or exerting herself in combat. As a dragon she could spam her spells freely without draining her magic power to nothing, but only because sue began to to burn it through it steadily and constant as soon as she began to fight.  It was not unlike her Dragon Force, but with the benefit of flight and a dragon's size and greater strength added in.

That meant she was pretty sure extra reserve of mana held in the crystal moon rose would not last another full fight.  Arcadia might be the one needing to retreat this time, yet she felt it unthinkable to leave an ally behind.  No warrior of Dragnof worth her honor would.

Seeing Santa and the bear, tree and elf that come through the portal with him more ready for battle than offering any signal for truce, Arcadia welcomed them to Midi with a portal of her own opening up underneath their feet and/or trunk.  They dropped from another portal in the sky overhead.

Arcadia pounced on Santa as soon as he landed, and used 15 meter long bulk to keep him pinned face down.  She may not have the magical might left for a full length showdown, but she hoped she could force Santa to talk this way. At the very least she thought to keep Santa busy, while Demi hopefully handled his backup as easily as she handled her share of the others.

There was something strange though, something she felt the moment Santa stepped out of the portal.  Her injuries from the first fight had slowly began to freeze and heal over on their own without Arcadia spending any of what precious mana the crystal moon rose provided her.  It was coming from Santa.  There was still some good deep down in Santa trying to come out.  "It doesn't havta be this way, Santa. I can feel the good still in you."

Sadly, Santa did not answer, he just grunted and kept struggling to find a way to free one of his arms, presumably to cast something to rid himself of the small glacier practically sitting on his back. It was then Arcadia's faerie green gaze caught sight of the candy cane tucked behind Santa's ear the way an office worker would tuck a pencil or pen behind their ear.  Unremarkable except this candy cane had a sickly glow and gave off an unmistakable aura of corruption. It was a moment of clarity that brought the dream from her mother into full mental focus. Whatever had caused this evil turn in the first place, that candy cane of corruption was the thing perpetuating the evil in Santa and keeping the good she felt still in him from coming free.

After all this was over she would be able to offer Demi a portal back to the Fairy Tail guild hall in Magnolia, where she could offer to give the guild's stamp.  Despite her initial misgivings, Arcadia was now sure Demi would make an excellent addition to Fairy Tail and was certain Markus would be happy to see her again.

Arcadia flicked the corrupted candy cane with a single talon away from Santa toward Demi, "Destroy that corrupted candy cane, and this madness should end!"

Post by Yuiisai 24th January 2019, 5:09 pm

The albino death goddess heard the surface thoughts of the other at least a little but she was a little busy dealing with another polar bear to pay much attention to it, then again even if she had been paying attention to the projected thoughts it was unlikely she would really care what the other thought of her or her brief relationship with Markus. He had fallen into the realm of death, it wasn't exactly like it could have happened by accident if he had been paying attention. The realm of death gave off a unsettling feel the moment you got to close to it, even among those that called the pocket home seemed to feel it's eerie touch. It wasn't exactly like it was something that could be avoided, well they could move to another part of the void but then there was always the chance they would get lost trying to find another place. Also to leave the death realm without permission when you weren't a death god or goddess had its own punishments, she was glad for the structure in honesty but she found herself being glad with her bloodline on this occasion at leas as she wouldn't bare being forced to be stuck in a realm were nothing normal grew. There was that and she really did dislike her movements being stiffled by anyone now she had tasted freedom, there would be hell to pay for anyone who tried to steal it from her that was for damned sure.

Demi could only shrug at the others first speech about how she was glad that he had missed the guild and its members, she did find that kind of sentimental nonsense annoying and a weakness but then she was the exact way with a view people. She however was able compartmentalise when it came to her motions when it came to battle or work, if Cirven or Ruvel was in danger sure she would protect them but that was because it fell under her duties and she wouldn't allow anyone to interfere with that for any reason. The last person to have tried that ended up dead, hell she had almost killed one of the vice presidents of the West Fiore Trading Company known as Sol Terumi just to protect the two most precious people in her life. It had only because Ruvel had cried out in fear she hadn't delivered the final blow, his death had been interrupted and due to this she had given him a rare gift to shed the shell he once had to become one like her. He wasn't a death god like herself or her twin brother Oykai but he was now a Deathless, this came with a whole bunch of new rules and a new reality that she would eventually have to find time to sit down with him to explain but that could wait at least for now in her opinion.

Hearing the young dragoness state the obvious she couldn't help but roll her blood ruby eyes a bit "I am fully aware of the alliance between the West Fiore Trading Company, Fairy Tail and Silver Wolf. I might dress like a maid most of the time but I am one of Rui's guardian's part of that is he shares everything with me." she explained her tone showing not to push any further into that conversation because she wouldn't explain what she meant on why she was told everything by him. "Uh... watch me, because regardless what guild I may end up within; if I am not on a mage job that guild can not control what I do in my daily life. That is a fact, unless Fairy Tail has a slaver side that no one knows about my life is my own and that will not change because I am in a guild." she said her tone cold, she refused to be told she could spend her time any longer by anyone. "Being a mage is my third job, it isn't high on my priorities list believe me and I won't be taking a lesion position regardless as I am not that type of person. I'm sorry. Rui is important to me more so than my main job which I have defied for him, so I will be remaining on Tolgalen as that is my home and I wish to remain close to him which I can do in my current position." there was of course reasons for this but she wasn't about to tell the Fairy Tail mage, it was none of her business as far as the death goddess was concerned.

Demi kicked the bear around the head a few times before kicking it back through the portal "Oh, I'm not a mage then... nice to know" she said narrowing her eyes not liking the insinuation that the other was flinging her way. "I may not have known of the issues that was going on when I got here but doesn't mean I wouldn't help in any way I could." she said crossing her arms leaning on her scythe "I'm a death goddess by birth it doesn't mean I like the task fate has given to me, but I have to deal with it when it comes up. As you can see I'm not holding a scroll so no deaths are warranted for me to give." she explained sometimes she seen why Oykai hated dealing with the living so much but she would persevere as those like her weren't exactly common to see even in her home realm. Her hand went to her head and sighed to the comment about survival, it was clear that the other had no idea about this culture and was a danger because of that ignorance "You're clueless..." she whispered to herself before looking at the other "You would think that it would but it won't, they believe that you being a divine being will protect them from harm." she said pushing off the scythe "It's not just Rui that needs education it seems." she said calmly, perhaps this would be something that they could do together who knew.

"As for them retreating to safety that's because I had the Rune Knights deal with that, or didn't you hear me yelling at them?" she said walking forward taking the bow of the head as a sign of respect before giving one of her own, she listened as she gave orders to the few that were still awaiting extraction in a bowing position. The moment they heard Arca's request the got up quickly with a nod and ran towards the closest Rune Knight "You're right, we do have differing views but I can sense you are a good person and only want the best for people." she said her tone becoming gentle once more, it was almost as if the earlier argument meant nothing to her any longer "It's true we will require the other to help with the task at hand and after it we can talk a bit more." she said before her suggestion. She was about to get back into the fight but this seemed short lived as her current ally seemed to be knocking them about as if they were made out of cardboard, she had to admit they were indeed impressing her. The death goddess couldn't help but give a small smile and chuckle "I can see why Rui likes you miss." she said with a compassionate warm tone "But just a little piece of advice, don't call him Ruvvy. It's kinda an insult to him, but then so is the word Ruvel, please call him Rui." she said watching as she batted things through portals and watched elves run through the portals.

"Rui in my language means 'One of Peace' it suits him well, unlike what Ruvel actually means..." her voice saddened at the last part "It means cursed moon or tainted light." she shuddered merely mentioning this, it would be clear that this hurt her but this would be short lived as something well someone new appeared coming through the portal "He doesn't look to jolly now does he." she said calmly gripping her scythe, it was true she at current didn't have access to her magic something that instantly changed due to her mana being below a certain threshold so a blue line would be seen between the back of her neck and her scythe showing it was giving her the mana she needed to continue fighting. Seeing that Arca was dealing with the not so jolly fat man she knew that she should deal with the enemies that came with him "I just wanted to do shopping" she complained running into a shop to grab some gas and a lighter, pressing down the top she struck the lighter and instantly created a flame thrower and set the two trees that had been closely together on fire. "It's toasty... should get some marshmallows after this..." she said thoughtfully as she threw the can into the fire and watched it explode sending splinters in all directions, she personally managed to dodge them and knew that Arca's scales would protect her from the flying wood. It did however hit every polar bear and elf several times making them collapse, not wanting to place them in anymore danger she began to throw elves and kick the polar bears back through where they had come.

Hearing what the dragoness had said and seeing the cane she kicked it towards what was left of the trees she had set on fire and watched it melt with a crackling sound. "Well that was kinda anti climatic" she said her tone sounding disappointed and almost bored, seeing the new portal and the scene of Magnolia town through it she shook her head "I'm sorry but I can't go, I came here to do some shopping and don't wish to leave until it is done." she explained hoping that the other would be understanding at least for now.
