[Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious) Empty [Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious)

Post by Akeya 29th December 2018, 8:18 pm

    Job Details:

Akeya had always prided herself on her self-control. From when she was but a little girl she'd already been more silent than most children her age, and while at first it wasn't on purpose she'd treasured and cultivated her ability to not let her inner thoughts and feelings control her actions. While she'd had trouble in the past that she'd suppressed her emotions to the point of it limiting her ability to grow as a person she'd managed to overcome that hurdle. It hadn't made her very passionate, but these days she saw herself as someone whose logic was firmly in control, with the emotions providing motivation and a sense of self.

So the fact that currently her emotions were running rampant was something which annoyed her greatly. Annoyance was one of the few emotions that had remained strong throughout her life, and now it was even worse than before. The fact that she was emotional pissed her off, and she was becoming more pissed off than she normally would be. The result was that she'd already had to leave the guildhall several times to vent her frustration on innocent flora and fauna. She'd also been forced to have her alter-ego Panacea withdraw from doing business for the Western Fiore Trading Company for a while as she couldn't successfully pretend to be someone else when she couldn't trust her own mood to stay stable. Luckily Panacea didn't have important duties to perform so she should have plenty of time before the higher ups would run out of patience (especially since the people at the top knew who she really was and what was going on). She'd have to figure this out before she ran out of time.

She was also pretty sure what the core of the issue was. Recklessly absorbing light essence and forcibly integrating it into herself had caused her entire being to lose the balance she had carefully established. She'd been a dragon of pure shadow and darkness before, and now she was... some kind of strange half-and-half. The light part still hadn't settled properly, but she could feel it as prominently as she could feel the darkness. And her body wasn't used to it. Her cold nature was now besieged by sensations of warmth and heat. Where before her only real interest in others was how they could influence her own life now she ended up listening to others for the sake of figuring out what was going on with them. She didn't care for it. The dark was cold and engulfed everything equally. It didn't discriminate but it also didn't assign high value to anything. Unlike those corrupted creatures pure dark was perfect for someone like Akeya, cold and analytic with few to no real attachments.

The light was warm and reacted differently to different objects. How it reflected, which colours it produced, showed that clearly. Pure light discriminated but also spread its energy. It assigned values and considered some things more important than others. Akeya knew that this was normal for creatures of the light, but it felt completely unnatural and unpleasant for herself. How was one supposed to be rational and calculating if those calculations were constantly being messed up by purely emotional variables?

The dragoness was fervently hoping that she could purge herself of that nonsense soon and return to her old self, or at least reach a new equilibrium where she could still be calculating. She didn't necessarily find being cold important in itself, but she was having doubts about how rational someone could be if they weren't cold as well. If her new equilibrium allowed her to be sensible and put logic above feeling she would be able to handle being a little bit less uncaring about other people's worries. It might actually make it easier for her to fake strong levels of concern as Panacea.

However even with her current situation she still had to do SOME form of work. She couldn't work as her lamia alter-ego, but as her true self she was still perfectly competent. Which was why she had been assigned the task of subdueing a kitsune which had supposedly lived in this area for ages without anyone really noticing. About a week ago trouble had begun to form, and now the entire area was closed off for anyone not powerful enough to survive a kitsune's wrath. The foxlike spirit had gone from a helpful guide for lost travelers to some kind of local disaster which threatened those very same travelers. The people who had assigned the job weren't happy with the idea of killing the thing, but couldn't allow it to threaten the area despite its helpful nature in the past.

Fine by Akeya. The job description had said something about how there seemed to be some sort of corruption or madness, but had also pointed out that it was unlikely that the kitsune could be returned to normal. For the dragoness that mattered little, since she was fully prepared to kill the fox and go home. Even with her emotions causing her to grind her teeth as she waited she was still fully capable of killing things without a second thought. She would already have entered the disaster zone on her own if it wasn't for the fact that her superiors had told her that she'd be working with someone for this mission.

Akeya would have been insulted at the lack of confidence if it wasn't for the fact that she was aware that right now she was a liability. Well, she WAS insulted but she was aware that was just irrational moodswings. Her companion would be someone stronger than her and someone unlikely to get too much on her nerves, to reduce the chances of Akeya completely snapping and to make certain that if she DID snap the other mage would be able to handle it. The idea of having to be watched was humiliating, but Akeya hadn't been able to disagree. It just made her hate her current situation even more than she already was, which was an impressive accomplishment given how she had already been positively seething with sheer frustration and anger.

Standing on top of a particularly large rectangular rock Akeya looked out over a very large area which was adorned by a wide variety of forgotten buildings and wild overgrowth. Some ancient city had been located here in ages past, but had been abandoned before anyone still alive could remember (or at least, anyone still alive who had been persuaded to share their knowledge on the subject). What little information they had been able to gather suggested that the city had been abandoned because of some kind of magical incident. There was one vague rumour that there had been a disease which drove the victims to madness, but there had been no way of verifying it. Had the disease returned, only to find a single kitsune to infect? The plants appeared to be completely unaffected by any form of illness, magical or otherwise. They were everywhere, grass covering the streets and trees growing around and out of the fragmented buildings. It had been a big city, big enough that even standing on the pillar Akeya couldn't see much of the centre other than that the trees in that area didn't look as healthy as they did near the edge. There were signs of fire, lightning strikes, claw marks from a giant beast and entire trees looked like they'd been pulled out of the ground and thrown until they ended up flipped.

Whatever was in the centre of the ruins, it wasn't happy. Akeya could share that sentiment, although she hadn't gone so far as to destroy the heart of a forest yet. That said the pillar she was standing on was already showing much more wear than before she was standing on it, mostly in the form of deep claw marks.

Gathering some of that accursed light essence in her clawed hand Akeya looked at it before launching it upwards, creating a flare which she sustained by holding up her scaled limb and continuously feeding it some more light essence. She could feel a massive power source approach from the distance, which was most likely the mage who she'd be working together with to either eliminate or subdue the fox. If she had to live the rest of her life with both dark and light she might as well make use of it, and admittedly the light was a much better choice for creating an "I'm here!" signal in the sky than the dark.

    "Hurry up, will you?"

    Leila Vergious

Heart of the Forest, a maddening disease that turned anything it affected into indiscriminate destroyer and an abandoned city, overtaken by the nature itself. With all of these aspects put neatly together, it certainly sounded like an ancient tale preserved by the elders telling it to their children who would then tell it their own children after many years. Yet, it was no folklore this time, but the reality at hand. A request that found it’s way to Silver Wold and then was handed to Leila directly due to her affinity with nature and everything close to it. Suffice to say, it was a good choice to make.

In fact, the girl had arrived at the scene a considerable while before she was supposed to. While she was informed that she had to look after a certain, somewhat unstable, individual as well, she wanted to gather a bit of info beforehand. Sitting in a small clearing that was at the edge of the forest, she had surrounded herself by several runes that produced a magical barrier, completely trapping the silver-haired maiden’s magical energy inside so that her presence would not spook anyone. While sitting comfortably in the grass, she observed few of the local flowers before a distinct shadow arrived from deeper in the forest.

It was Melon, the girl’s canine companion. A wolf of a green and red coat, hence her name. The beast carried a tiny little rabbit, very carefully not to injure it in any way. Putting the critter down in front of Leila, it seemed to have calmed down almost instantly and then meekly start hopping around, unsure of what to do with itself. Just a small bit of insight for Leila who was creating a theory in her head as to what might be going on here. But the green wolf could not possibly scout the entire woods alone, no. He had a bit of help.

A translucent fog covered a good portion of the forest, bringing about a slightly unnatural chill. It quickly faded away as it’s source approached the runic barrier as well, a number of ethereal wolves, their forms slightly transparent and silver in colors with bright glowing blue eyes. They moved slowly and steadily, no gestures coming along with them. Rather, it was the magic itself they were producing that told the girl everything she had asked of them. With a bright smile, she had nodded to them as they quickly disappeared into magical portals, leaving behind not much more than frost on the grass.

This was the first time she had decided to ask the spirits of the mountain for help like this. Wolves that guarded the Phoenix Mountain, the place where guild hall of Silver Wolf resided. They were rather appropriate guardians, moving through the raging storm that protected the guild. They were guides, making sure those with no ill will would make it through the storm and arrive at the building, something that made them somewhat good scouts for this place as well. With a faint sigh, the girl had picked herself back up and stretch before looking around a little bit more.

These cases were always interesting for her, as there was most certainly something magical in nature going on. Though, of course, she would have to see the Kitsune spirit in person to be able to properly determine what was going on. Though one thing was rather clear, she knew exactly what she wanted to accomplish. Save these woods and all the creatures within it with minimal casualties. After all, she quite hated it when the nature around her suffered. In a way, she was an extension of it, she felt it’s pain, even if it was rather distant.

Then her attention quickly turned toward the abandoned city in the distance. Something resembling a flare was fired up into the sky, presumably calling for the girl. “Oh dear, did I lose a track of time..?” With those words, she snapped her fingers and dispersed the barrier around her completely, her magical energy now being free to be sensed by those around her. Giving her companion a quick glance and a nod, both of them headed toward the location of the individual they would be working with. Little did they know it was someone not new to them.

In fact, Leila did not want to make them wait any longer, quickly opening a warp gate in front of herself to speed herself up a fair amount. She even managed to faintly grasp the words that Akeya had spoken out, a smile creeping up her expression as she suddenly appeared behind the dragoness, the tips of her shoes gently pressing up against the pillar as well. There was not exactly much room for the both of them, but she managed to make it work by breaching her personal space a tiny bit.

Apologies for being so slow, though I don’t think we are in a hurry here… oh?

That was the moment of realization. Leila knew this person and now that she could sense her magical energy and take in her appearance, she remembered. Well… her magic appeared to have undergone some alternations, but it was definitely her! There was no way Leila of all people would forget about meeting a dragon person. Bending her knees ever so slightly, she had propelled herself away from the pillar and landed on the grass-covered pathway beneath them, looking up at her dragon companion while Melon caught up with her owner.

Pardon me… Akeya, right? Do you… remember me?

When they met, it was very freshly after the silver-haired maiden lost almost all of her memories. An issue that was long since resolved, thankfully. And she even kept every bit of memory made after the incident. Though if she recalled correctly, this girl was not exactly someone who would bond very frequently. So it was debatable to say if she remembered the Eden’s caretaker or not. Though Leila certainly hoped that she was remembered, as she had indeed also remembered her own love for dragons and definitely wanted to spend some quality time with an individual like this.

I’m Leila Vergious. A wandering mage who helped you deal with poachers in one of the Wakusei gates…

[Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious) Empty Re: [Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious)

Post by Akeya 30th December 2018, 6:06 pm

As she waited for the magical presence in the distance to home in on her location Akeya considered the flare that was now burning brightly above her head. It was a simple spell, more a burst of raw magic than anything else. And it was of an element which, up until very recently, had been Akeya's antithesis. She wasn't like some dark creatures which treated everything that was light and bright as abominable and monstrous. She was perfectly capable of leaving the light alone if it left her alone in turn. Her animosity with the light had been purely about the fact that for the dark the light was dangerous, and Akeya was a person for whom what was dangerous and what wasn't was very important. Survival was always on her mind, so the fact that the light often banished the dark was something she always had to keep in mind.

And now the light was a part of her... It was the kind of change which was difficult to process. Something which had always been your enemy, your opposite, suddenly being as much a part of you as that which you'd carried with you for years. Suddenly the wariness was unneeded, suddenly the danger was gone. How did you react to that? Did you just stop caring? Did you suddenly act like it was all perfectly fine? Akeya considered herself the rational and logical type, but even if she wasn't suffering from moodswings she'd have trouble sorting this out within a day or so.

She didn't have much more time to think about it as suddenly someone was right behind her, close enough that Akeya's instincts screamed at her that she was in danger. Whatever was behind her was too powerful for her to ignore, and it was already so close that even if she reacted as quickly as she could it might be too late.

As if struck by lightning Akeya's body turned into darkness, shooting away from Leila while the dragoness spun around and glared at the assailant with furious emerald eyes. Hovering in the air a dozen black orbs quickly formed around her. She raised one shadowy arm to unleash the barrage while at the same time a black dagger appeared in her other clawed hand...

And then realized who it was. Someone Akeya had worked together with before, and who had been pretty good company. Of course Akeya wasn't one to make friends during missions, but she had to admit that this particular mage had been a good partner. She'd been cooperative, amiable, and unlike many other mages she didn't cause trouble with strange personality quirks.

The black orbs disappeared, reabsorbed into Akeya's shadowy form before she released it and returned back into her physical self. Dispelling the dagger she stared down at Leila for several seconds, then suddenly split into two parts: a streak of light and a streak of dark. The two halves spiralled downwards around the pillar before reforming in front of Leila, the dragoness's form glowing silver for a moment before it faded into her usual midnight blue scales.

Tilting her head the assassin-like mage studied Leila some more, emerald eyes moving up and down and pausing to look at Leila's head, where before there had been fox ears, and her waist, where before there had been a fox tail. "I remember. You look different though." Akeya stated rather bluntly, folding her arms while her tail slammed against the ground behind her. "Where did your non-human features go? Wait, more importantly..." She leaned forward, raising one clawed hand to carefully place the talon against Leila's forehead, the faintest contact to avoid accidentally cutting the skin. Akeya was painfully aware that Leila was a lot stronger than herself, but even so she wasn't in the mood to just let things slide. "Don't appear behind me like that. I almost tried to cut your throat and I'd rather not get myself killed because you startled me." Her eyes were narrow, and she bared her fangs to show just how annoyed she currently was.

Only after a couple of seconds did she lean back and fold her arms again, the talons on her feet already carving up the ground as she tensed and flexed her toes. "As you must have been told I'm currently suffering from a magical and mental imbalance, so you'll have to bear with me while I try to avoid lashing out too much." noticed that her talons were digging into the ground and growled, stomping her feet before firmly planting them, her legs stiff as she refused to let her toes move without her explicit command. She then closed her eyes and exhaled deeply before opening them again. "But you're right that we're not in a real hurry, so let's try to get things sorted out before we depart. Yes I remember you, and judging by the amount of power you're oozing you managed to recover your magic. That's good. Did you also regain your memories?" She blinked, realizing that wasn't what she had been thinking about. "Fuck, what I meant to say was... there's a kitsune in middle of the overgrown ruins who has been turned insane or corrupted by something. We should be careful. Wait, you already knew that, that was in the debriefing..."

She covered her face with both claws, her cheeks red from the sheer vexation and from the fact that she was babbling like an idiot. "I hate this, I just want to get this done so I can go somewhere where nobody can hear me be an idiot. Since you're the stronger mage here I'll follow your lead. There, done, I said it, anything else?"

[Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious) Empty Re: [Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious)

Post by Leila Vergious 1st January 2019, 6:57 am

    Leila Vergious

In hindsight, it really might not have been the best idea ever to teleport behind… well, anyone, like that. Especially since they were on a mission where enemies were clearly present, at least to some degree. The flare which clearly indicated that the girl’s company was saught after clouded her judgment for but a brief moment, yet that was enough to send her new, yet old partner into a high-alert mode. Thankfully the situation deescalated swiftly as well, Akeya clearly an expert warrior who was able to make the right call in a split of a second. No magical energy had to be wasted on unrequired spells.

Waving her hands around in an apologetic manner, Leila bowed her head ever so slightly. “Ahaha, my apologies. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been on a proper mission, I got far too used to peace being present all around me.” Her shiny blue optics watched how the dragoness gracefully descended back to the broken apart ground, expression visibly showing how impressed she was with the dual-element wielding. Last time they worked together, she had not seen anything of the sort from her companion, not to mention that such balance was always impressive to her due to personal reasons.

And somewhat amusingly, the dragoness had little regard for personal space despite her slightly unapproachable aura, that clawed hand pointing a bit too close at Leila’s forehead and making the poor silver-haired maiden go cross-eyed for a second as she tried to follow the tip of that very claw. “Err, right. A lot has changed, I suppose. And I suspect you mean these?” Taking a single step back, the maiden twirled in place as silvery magical energy surrounded her physical form, a pair of wolf-like ears and a tail formed. Though they were different from how they looked in their prior meeting.

Magical energy clearly surrounded them, hinting on the fact that despite the fluffy fur still present, these features were actually formed by solidified ethernano, particles of magic. In addition to these, one of the girl’s eyes turned golden in the process as well, emitting a visible glow and a trail of a lingering ethereal veil. “You might have noticed when we worked together before but I’m not quite human. More of a spirit if you want to get technical. So my appearance is subject to change whenever my magic shifts around.

Not only that, but it also had many more perks as she suddenly showed her thumbs up to the dragoness. “So you don’t have to worry, I survived worse than a claw tearing my throat open or even decapitating me!” It was an odd thing to say with a bright smile strung across her face. “Of course I wouldn’t try to hurt you either. Definitely not someone as amazing as you!” Looking Akeya over again, Leila was basically sparkling with excitement and delight at the dragon features everpresent on the girl in front of her.

Yes, her love and adoration for dragons were as apparent as ever. But somehow, there was something that caught her attention even more. Something… surprisingly adorable, coming from the shadowy destroyer of a dragon. In a wonderful display of duality, her partner explained that her mental state was somewhat divided at the current, proceeding in almost comical fashion to showcase it by jumping from topic to topic as if a loving mother trying to act ruthless and cold in order to keep up appearance. Suffice to say, it made the silver-haired maiden chuckle just a tiny bit as she took a step closer.

Yes, my mission was a success and I managed to recover both my magic and my memories. I also already know about the situation of this forest, as I’ve arrived a while back in order to look things over. And you… well, you have no need to worry about acting in any way you want. I’m an adventurer, heart and soul. I’ve worked with many people, humans, and non-humans. Each one of them was different and acted differently. So I don’t think you deserve to be called an idiot~

Saying that it was Leila who once more breached the barriers of personal space this time, her hand extending and attempting to gently stroke Akeya’s dark hair. Whether it was her instincts of a life-creator or perhaps genuine attempt to help, magic followed the girl on every step as well. The calming nature of the Gardens of Eden seeped into the dragoness, doing it’s best to soothe her nerves and carry away her worries. On a more professional note, it was also good to feel relax when on a mission like this, for unnecessary stress allowed for woeful mistakes.

There, there. Now then… Melon here, as well as few spirits I brought along have told me of what they saw in these ruins and the woods in general. The creatures here are enraged and scared. I don’t believe it would be in our best interest to simply slaughter them unless it is the last resort. There has to be magic at work here, so I say we try to dispell it, what do you say?” Sure enough, Leila had just demonstrated with her magic-infused head pats that she was able to soothe others.

Perhaps such means could be used on their enemy as well? It was an amusing thought, attempting to ruffle the hair of an enemy in combat. Though of course, that was not the only way Leila could do something of that nature. But one thing was clear - she desired to bring peace to this place, not destruction. Akeya, on the other hand, might have been different. She was at least part dragon, creatures who held great destructive powers and were often not afraid to use it. Because of this, the Eden’s caretaker did not want to fully proceed until they settled on how to do this.

Melon, the trusty green, and red wolf seemed to be of a similar mind as she slowly approached the dragoness and started sniffing around. Even attempting the nuzzle against her scales-covered legs in a show of affection and low barks. It was an interesting experiment to see if Akeya would be susceptible to the adorable nature of Leila’s wolf companion like most humans were.

[Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious) Empty Re: [Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious)

Post by Akeya 1st January 2019, 7:55 pm

Hearing Leila's apology Akeya ended up huffing, not really sure what other response she could give to that. "Just be careful next time. Appearing behind someone is often a hostile action, especially in a danger zone like this." She didn't feel like she was telling the other mage something that she didn't already know, but she felt like it was worth repeating nonetheless.

Once it was absolutely clear that Leila wasn't planning to use the same trick again Akeya focused instead on the lupine appendages and extremities that the stronger mage grew to physically reference to what the dragoness had been talking about. She eyed the obviously magical constructions with some suspicion and curiosity, her fin-like ears spreading a little bit to show she was acutely listening when Leila explained why she looked different from before, and why her lupine traits were now magically created rather than something she automatically had.

"I think you looked better when they were a natural part of you." She stated rather bluntly before blinking and grumbling under her breath, quickly latching onto the next thing Leila said to try and push what she'd blurted out behind her. "You might survive it, but I was more worried about my own health. I'm pretty sure that if I tried to claw out your throat you could rip me apart for my troubles, judging by the difference in magic power between the two of us." When Leila claimed that she wouldn't hurt Akeya either the dragoness could only raise an eyebrow, partially because she was reminded of how this spirit-woman was fascinated by dragons and partially because she remained sceptical. While she wasn't particularly suspicious of Leila in specific she had a wary nature, so someone claiming that they wouldn't harm her combined with such a blatant praise had her instincts telling her that it wasn't something she could trust at face value.

Of course she wouldn't voice that out loud, especially now when she was having enough trouble keeping her mouth shut as it was. It was incredibly frustrating that she found herself saying things which might have existed somewhere inside her head but which were definitely not the things she planned to say. For someone with a more impulsive nature it might have been par for the course, but for someone as bound by rationally as Akeya it was absolutely insufferable. The fact that Leila did a poor job of hiding her amusement didn't help matters, as it just reinforced Akeya's idea that she was looking like quite the fool. When Leila claimed that she didn't think Akeya deserved to be called an idiot, however, the dragoness pulled down her claws to glare at the woman with narrow emerald eyes.

"I'm an idiot when I can't even control what I say and distract myself and say all the wrong things for the wrong reasons. Just because I'm having some trouble with my stability right now doesn't mean you have to make up lies just to make me feel better. The harsh truth is always better than some sugar-sweet lies which messes up one's perception of the world and the self and... and..."

Feeling the spirit's hand on her head Akeya stuttered and froze, her entire face going red for a moment before she quickly stepped backwards and pointed a talon at Leila. Her tail curled around in front of her as if to help fence of any other attempts at patting her, the dragoness breathing rather heavily and her voice making it clear that she was flustered as she spoke next.

"Y-you... You... Don't do that. I'm not some kind of pet and-" She slapped her claw across her own mouth when she realized that Leila was already explaining her take on the situation and that she should be listening, not giving some indignant rant. Her face remained red, however, right up until she felt something brush against her leg. Shifting her leg and looking down she noticed that it was Melon, the disturbed dragon staring at the wolf with a combination of surprise and building frustration until she looked back up at Leila.

    "Excuse me for a moment."

Stepping away from Leila and Melon Akeya walked over to the pillar she had been standing on before while waiting for her partner to arrive. Bringing both clawed hands back she smashed them forward, the hard talons digging into the stone and causing quite the crumbling and groaning as the pillar was carved into deeply. Once she essentially had a firm hold of the ancient formation with both hands Akeya began to exert strength. Spiderwebs spread out from her hands, crawling and spreading across the entire pillar which had already been weakened by years of weathering and the work Akeya's claws had done before Leila arrived. It didn't take very long before the entire pillar began to fall apart, finished with a final crushing motion from the assassin's hands. Any debris that threatened to fall on her was quickly smashed out of the way either by the scaled hands or by the strong tail, until the only thing left was a pile of broken stone and a cloud of dust.

Turning back around Akeya practically marched back towards Leila, exhaling deeply as her face lost its blush. "Right. With that out of the way... I have no way of purging the magic that's causing this, so if we're going by that plan the best I can do is scout and fight off anything that tries to interfere with you cleansing the place. Considering that our enemies are beasts and the like it shouldn't be too difficult. We won't have to worry about traps or the like at least." Akeya glanced back towards the forest, then down at Melon. "I don't remember what this one is called, but it'll probably also be able to help keep an eye out. At the end of the day our main target is that kitsune, which is also the only thing I know of that could pose a serious threat. If you could cure that one it'd be good but I'll be killing it if it looks like it resists your attempts."

She flexed one clawed hand, a flash of gold flowing across the otherwise midnight blue scales before disappearing again. "Luckily this damned instability has left my capabilities largely uncompromised. The biggest threat is if I get too angry and stop thinking clearly." She narrowed her eyes. "So make sure you don't get hurt."

[Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious) Empty Re: [Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious)

Post by Leila Vergious 3rd January 2019, 2:54 pm

    Leila Vergious

The rather sudden revelation of Akeya’s preference toward Leila’s wolf features was quite surprising and had taken the girl aback greatly. Especially the fact that this specific bit of feedback was negative in the overall picture. Small tears appeared in the corner of the silver-haired girl’s eyes, this seemingly all-powerful mage suddenly sulking at the idea of it. “I… I see, so you don’t really like this now…” Tapping her fingers together as if she was nervous, she let the tail and ears dissolve back into particles of magic and sighed. She even took such great care to have them bit nearly identical to the ones she had before.

Not that she could do much about it now. This was her true self, after all. When she was first born into this world and when she came to Fiore for the very first time, there was no tail or ears. At that point, she even still thought of herself as completely human. A human with a very special magic. It was just far too convenient, far too nice. Shaking her head, the girl perished the thought and looked back up at Akeya. At the very least the soured mood was about to be fixed right quick.

Yes, the dragoness was rather adorable as she seemingly got flustered by the display of affection by Leila and her action afterwards only reinforced that cute side of her, albeit with a sprinkled addition of scary when the column collapsed. Frankly, the girl had to restrain herself considerably not to do it again, or even hug her companion this time. Something that would not end very well, most likely. But perhaps she could attempt something of that nature later on when they were out of the danger zone, as Akeya reminded her a little while ago.

Lying and sugar-coating things…” Leila then also repeated after the dragoness, though only for herself. And at the end, she smiled without a reply. Of course, it was probably easy to perceive her words as such. And truly, no matter what she would say, it would not change anyone’s mind here. For actions often spoke much louder than words and if she wanted her companion to trust her fully, she would have to show that she meant everything that she had said when the chance presents itself. Whether that would be on this mission or at some point in the future, that was up in the air.

Pointing at the green and red wolf by her side, she also re-introduced the third wheel of this party. “This is Melon, my companion ever since I found her abandoned in a place far, far away from here.” A bark solidified that quick backstory as Leila took a few steps to the side and gazed at what would soon be their battlefield. “Then I’ll just have to assure that she will not be able to resist my attempts to calm her down.

Taking a deep breath, she then turned toward Akeya again. “And that I’ll gently stop you if you do happen to lose control or make a mistake. Whether you believe me or not, I will be making sure that everyone makes it through this just fine!” Winking at the dragoness, the girl had to steel up her nerves. There was no way she would botch a chance at becoming friends with someone who was at least partly a dragon. Though that aside, Akeya actually did seem like an interesting person that she would like to get to know better, given the chance.

So what now? They definitely had to head into the ruins and start searching for the source of the problems here. With a confident stride, the Eden’s caretaker headed right toward the abandoned square that must have been the town’s center in the past. With Akeya hopefully right behind her, she focused on any foreign magic that she could sense in the air. There was not exactly a whole lot, aside from the naturally present magical energy of the forest that surrounded them. And yet there was something eerie and sinister indeed. Even closing her eyes, Leila stopped for a moment.

The town square was quite large with a dried up fountain in the very middle. Letting out a faint sigh, the girl shook her head once more and then turned around to face the dragoness. “I have a bit of an idea. Obviously, you’ve seen my powers before, but it would be little too inconvenient to run around so I can touch every single animal that has been driven mad by… whatever it is that is driving them mad. I should be able to use this fountain, do you think you could lure anything that gets too close to it?

Even if Akeya herself would not be up for the task, Melon was ready to either help or take on the mission by herself. Leila in the meantime stepped into the basin and place her hand on the slope in the middle which used to spray water elegantly in the past. Her magical energy started spreading through it as vines and flowers started blooming all over the concrete and surrounding area, the water from the underground being quickly drawn and starting to fill the fountain once more. But not quite your average water, but one infused with Leila’s magical energy and glowing with a faint green hue. Now she just had to hope that everything would go at least somewhat smoothly.

[Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious) Empty Re: [Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious)

Post by Akeya 4th January 2019, 3:46 pm

Akeya blinked and looked rather surprised at how strongly Leila reacted to her unplanned comment about how she'd appreciated the wolf features when they were still a part of the other mage's default appearance. "Well I'm not saying that you look bad now but as a dragon I have some reason to prefer a tail and more pronounced ears and I'm just going to stop talking now." Too late she realized that once more she'd ended up rambling about stuff that otherwise she'd have dismissed as entirely secondary in importance. It was genuinely annoying how she couldn't even open her mouth without the worry that some part of her mind would take over and say something silly.

When Leila repeated her words the dragoness frowned, wondering if the other woman was insulted. Most people wouldn't like it if you proclaimed that they were blatantly lying. However Akeya's stance was unlikely to waver where this topic was concerned: most mortals she encountered had trouble accepting the bad parts of reality, so they ended up trying to make it sound nicer than it actually was. Because of that they'd developed a culture where you were supposed to put a positive spin on everything. And Akeya personally didn't really care one bit about that. She wanted to see the world as it was, so she could deal with it accurately rather than relying on an overly positive perspective.

"I don't mean that you specifically do it, it's something a lot of people do without even realizing it. It annoys me."

She gave a quick nod towards Melon when the vibrantly-furred wolf was reintroduced, then also looked back around towards the forest they would be entering soon. "I think the job description marked the kitsune as a male, actually... although that's not really important. I'll wish you good lucks with charming it regardless of which gender it has." Her face become a shade darker again at Leila's reassurance that she would be able to calm Akeya down gently should the dragoness become too unstable and go on a rampage. "I'll be relying on you then, although it'd be better if it wasn't necessary in the first place." If she actually lost control she'd never live it down, if only because she'd constantly be reminding herself of how pathetic it was.

With her partner leading the way Akeya followed her into the overgrown ruins, where she quickly faded from sight as she used th shadows cast by the trees to move about invisibly. Instead of only trailing behind Leila Akeya circled around the stronger mage as they progressed, scouting their surroundings. She could sense that there was a sinister power in the air, faint but still distinct enough to give the entire place an unusual and worrisome aura. According to Leila it had to be the work of magic, but from what Akeya could sense if there was some kind of curse on the forest it had managed to merge with the background energies to such extent that removing it could be a real hassle. And removing it from the creatures in the area might not be effective if the area itself could just reinfect them over time...

She quickly returned to her position behind Leila and reformed into a corporeal shape when the other mage turned around to suggest a course of action. When Leila mentioned touching every animal Akeya raised one eyebrow before she snorted, followed by some chuckling before she covered her mouth with a scaled hand and forced herself to focus. As funny as the thought was in her head this wasn't the time to get amused by silly mental imagery. Instead she nodded, although even when she removed her hand she was still smirking as if thinking of something amusing. "Understood. i'll lure as many as I can so you don't have touch them one by one." She snorted again before disappearing, dashing out of the clearing as she prepared to intercept and lure in any animal that happened to come close enough. Given that Leila was planning to use the dried up fountain she figured that the H-Ranked mage was intending to have the fountain act as some kind of nucleus for her magic.

It took a while of patrolling the area before Akeya ran into something other than trees, ruins and other results of years of uninhabited land. She'd even found some more hazardous stuff, like a fire which she quickly put out and some bridges that had seemingly been torn apart. She couldn't do much about those since she didn't have any earth magic or the like. And anyway she didn't think fixing the area was as important as making it safe to traverse, so she'd focus on the actual job instead of getting distracted by these little things.

When she did actually come across something it was immediately a rather messy occurrence. There was a whole bunch of boars charging straight towards where Leila was preparing her trick. It looked like they'd felt the magic that was emanating from the square and the madness made them hostile enough to attack the source. Technically the dragoness could just let them charge through since they were headed in the right direction anyway, but she felt like she should help regulate the situation a bit so Leila wouldn't suddenly get trampled by a small army of boars. Appearing several yards in front of the boars she gave them a second to spot and acknowledge her before turned into an orb of light and an orb of dark, both orbs swirling around one another as she dove into a side street. The boars, letting out cries of rage, charged in right after her. Making sure to give them a trail of foreign magic to follow Akeya used a couple bends and turns to make sure they were truly following her before she headed towards the square. Once she was there she began to make a wide circle around Leila and the fountain, noticing the plants that had flourished and the water that once more filled the stone basin while at the same time the boars all obediently trailed behind her, the two opposite orbs and the boars forming a large circle with the fountain in the middle.

Now, Akeya hoped that Leila had an idea for taking control... she didn't want to do this for hours on end.

    Leila Vergious

It was always good to be at least a little bit cautious when you worked as a mage for hire. Leila had discovered just about anything could be hiding behind that corner you’re about to approach and it was worth it to be ready for it. So Leila could easily understand Akeya’s behavior. It was simply beneficial for her potential survival. Something that the girl herself could just kinda toss out the window as even if she were to be killed right here, she would simply come back a few days later. It was both a blessing and a curse that her existence was not bound by mortality.

And despite the somewhat displayed disappointment on her face when she learned that the Kitsune was probably of the male variant, she still wanted to go through this all properly. It was nice that the dragoness was willing to go with her plan without any real back talk or resisting, making the whole operation go much more smoothly. Along with her, Melon also departed to scour the area for any cursed creatures that could use cleansing. While that was going down, Leila made sure that the renewed fountain was working as intended. Not having to wait too long, Akeya had returned with a good amount of boars straight behind her, too.

Taking a step back into a jump on top of the pillar in the middle of the fountain, Leila smirked. A number of the flowers on the fountain were of a peculiar shape, closed buds glowing with an orange hue. It was these that suddenly opened up and released a fairly sweet scent. One that was considerably stronger to the animals naturally residing within this area and quickly forcing their attention toward the silver-haired girl. Though she didn’t have to move a single muscle with the boars willingly approaching angrily and getting into the enchanted water.

In the meantime, Melon has returned as well. Carrying a single flailing rabbit by a tuft of fur, there was a small army behind her as well. Some of them even looking mildly terrifying with their snow-white fur and crimson red eyes. But they too were dealt with fairly easily as Melon flung the one carried into the fountain and the rest followed to regroup. All of the animals that touched the water started glowing faintly before a dark cloud of magical energy would be lifted from their bodies and dissipated.

Looks like it’s working pretty well. At least for these little ones, anyway. I’m not sure if it will have any effect on the Kitsune, seeing how that is a magical creature and probably has the curse rooted much deeper inside of itself than these guys.” Hopping down again, the girl made sure that the animals were okay up close since they were not aggressive anymore. What more, there was an additional unintended effect which could work out in the favor of the working trio. All of the dark magical energy lifted from the animals was starting to accumulate in the air.

Oh… it’s already been purified by the Gardens of Eden, but it lingers for a little bit. If this keeps up accumulating then it will lure out the rest of the cursed animals out here as well, seeking the darkness. Maybe even the Kitsune. Might be a bit of a pain otherwise if we had to go find it, they’re masters of disguise…” Saying that Leila looked around to assess how the situation was like for them right now. So far everything seemed to be going quite smoothly, which was often a sign of things about to go wrong.

That aside, the skies were quickly growing dark as the Sun mostly disappeared behind the horizon. It was already pretty late when they arrived so this had to be expected. And Leila did indeed expect that this would be the optimal time for Akeya to shine with her dark attribute magic. Though given her state, maybe she should hope that the darkness doesn’t overtake her instead. Regardless, it seemed like a pretty harmless situation. At least for the first few minutes as animals continued gathering and lured by the scent of the flowers then got purified by the enchanted water.

Not too many more and I think we’ll be about done. And then… um… do you hear that?” Akeya was not the only one with enhanced senses as even Leila was a bit more sensitive to her surroundings with those fluffy ears and tail of hers. Shrieks and moans suddenly echoed throughout the abandoned ruins, easily sending chills down anyone’s spine. “Don’t tell me that this place has lost souls bound to it as well…” Sure enough, translucent figures started suddenly appearing out of the walls and even the ground itself, forcing Leila to sigh out loud.

This wasn’t even in the contract! I didn’t make any preparations for lost spirits, this is bad… physical attacks probably will pass right through them, same for the purifying water. And magical attacks will likely only enrage them. Agh, without proper magic we won’t be able to get rid of them..!” The girl complained mostly to herself, though also obviously loud enough for the dragoness to hear. It was kinda important information as far as the girl was concerned. Thankfully the magical energy in the air did not suggest these spirits were particularly strong or even bloodthirsty.

They were still an added obstacle, however. Their goal was to lure out the Kitsune and for that, more curse energy needed to accumulate still. Then a small idea wriggled its way into Leila’s head. “Akeya, your dark attribute… can you still use it?” While the silver-haired maiden wielded powers of both light and dark, they were completely manifested in a physical form unlike the magic of the dragoness. So she would be the star here, most likely. “If you can, try to expel large amounts of your dark magic around the ruins! The spirits will be lured to it, hopefully, long enough for us to finish our job here!

Most supernatural beings were naturally drawn toward the darkness. The idea actually came from the very start of their mission here as Leila followed the flare Akeya created. So if something similar could be done around a number of points in the ruins, they could easily divide the ghostly forces and obtain the opportunity to go on unnoticed. But whether any of that could even happen now rested on the draconic companion Leila had been assigned, as she eyed Akeya with puppy eyes for a good moment now.

[Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious) Empty Re: [Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious)

Post by Akeya 6th January 2019, 2:53 pm

Akeya didn't have much trouble leading the boars in a circle, but she still hoped that Leila would take over soon. She didn't want to spend her time acting like some boar-oriented matadour and they had bigger fish to fry than these aggravated forest critters anyway. The fact that boars were amongst the most dangerous of your average forest critter was of little importance: in Akeya's mood she would cut them down by the dozen if they got on her nerves too much.

Luckily Leila did then unveil her work, a fountain of purifying water with some alluring flowers to make sure the animals would drink from said water. While not an low-intelligence animal herself Akeya did still have sharp senses, so when she reformed into her physical shape and smelled the flowers from a distance she could tell why the boars were quickly attracted: they smelled very nice indeed. Of course the boars still looked angry but when didn't the damn beasts look ready to skewer something. Their temper was worse than actual bulls.

With the rabbits brought in by Melon added to the mix there was quite the army of animals now drinking from the fountain, enough that when the enchanted water's powers began to kick in there was a visible cloud of dark magic forming above the fountain as the boars and rabbits were purged of whatever had taken hold of their senses. For the rabbits this meant that they lost their aggressiveness entirely. For the boars it meant that instead of targeted hostility they just returned to their usual grumpy self, wandering off once they had their fill.

Walking closer to the fountain Akeya's nostrils flared before she looked up to her companion, nodding in agreement as it was affirmed that the plan was working. "Good. They'll me much better off like this. As for the kitsune, maybe we should just hold it underwater for a while and see what that does to it." She grins, not her usual slight smirk but more of a genuinely amused grin with a somewhat sadistic/mischievous appearance to it. "If nothing else such an ancient creature would be shocked at being manhandled like that which might break its concentration so it's easier to cure it."

Looking over at where the dark magic was gathering Akeya let her reptilian tongue escape past her lips, the tip flitting back and forth before it retreated back inside of her mouth. "Under normal circumstances I'd just eat that, but I'm guessing it works better as a lure for now. It looks like it would be tasty though..." She rolled her eyes and dramatically sighed before returning her attention to the critters which had calmed down. "Meh, guess I'm not that hungry anyway."

As more animals came along Akeya moved back to the wall of one of the ruins, watching from a distance where she wouldn't have to worry about any of the creatures paying attention to her or trampling her. So far things had been surprisingly peaceful, which she supposed must be a side effect of the magic that Leila was using. It was only when the ghosts began to appear that things became more hectic again. The diseased animals ignored them, but the already cured critters all quickly began to run away once the souls from the underworld arrived.

"Yes. Well, not too surprising. Twilight is the time when two opposites overlap, including this world and the next. Best time to run into spirits, really." Akeya didn't appear to be too worried about the souls, watching them with some curiosity before glancing over at Leila. She wasn't sure why the stronger mage was so worried: even if magic attacks would make them angry, with Leila's strength she could blast them all before that anger made any difference. She chuckled, finding Leila's panic somewhat funny. The question and request came as something of a surprise though, but the dragoness just nodded and walked closer to the middle of the square. "Sure thing! Just give me a minute and we'll be in the clear!"

Bending her knees Akeya prepared her strength in her legs before launching herself up into the air, spreading her wings and using them to propell herself even higher until she's floating high up, high enough that she can see the sun which is disappearing behind the horizon far away. Looking towards the sun for a moment she looked back down before focusing on the energies inside of her. She had both light and dark, and right now she needed to manage both to make this work.

"Expel..." Keeping herself airborne with her wings she turned, stretching one arm and gathering all her dark energies inside the hand, from where it flowed out of her body to form a large dark circle around her. At the same time her body turned paler, the light energies becoming more dominant in her appearance with her dark energies having been drastically decreased.

"Compel..." After a single spin she raised her other arm, the dark energies around her condensing into a dozen pitch black orbs that hovered around and above her. Due to the high density these orbs would be emanating a sensation of power, but she was high enough that the souls wouldn't get to her before she was done with this little trick. Now for the last part.

"Repel!" Raising the first arm as well she forcefully distabilized the balance of light and dark that she had been maintaining. Light and dark clashed, contrasted, then launched each other in separate directions. Due to the light energies having been gathered inside Akeya she was launched straight down. Due to the dark energies having been gathered inside the orbs they were launched upwards.

The dark orbs first went high up before their flight turned parabolic, not losing their speed even as they curved back down and smashed down around the ruins as if indicating the numbers on a clock. Where they landed beacons of darkness burst forth, a single strong dark flare which weakened into pools of shadow. The lost spirits, sensing all this dark energy, quickly vacated the square as they spread out to concentrate around the twelve dark pools.

Akeya herself meanwhile turned into a streak of light, forming a widening spiral which ended with her making a single rotation around the square before she looped towards the middle, where she reformed her physical form on top of the fountain. Where before her scales and hair had been midnight blue and black they were now a bright silver and white, and her olive skin had turned pale. Her emerald eyes were still the same, although a lot more expressive than usual as she grinned while looking in the distance towards where the lost spirits were disappearing.

"That should do it for now. Although now I'll need to eat something dark to make up for what I expended... Say, do you still need those dark energies which we got out of the beasts?"

Before she got an answer she sharply turned her head, her eyes narrowing as she looked towards the centre of the restricted area, where the trees had already seen a lot of abuse from something angry. "I... think it noticed that."

    Leila Vergious

The fact that they were curing the animals was good, but it didn’t seem to be really lifting the curse off of this place. Which somewhat confirmed Leila’s worry about it being bound to the strongest source of the magic in this area - the Kitsune. And as if knowing what the silver-haired girl was thinking, Akeya came in with a comment that left her looking rather terrifying amused. While Leila just tried to not show too much worry for the sadistic side that was clearly hiding inside of the dragoness. It seemed that the curse of her the species did not miss her after all.

I’m… sure there will be a more practical way of curing the beast. For now, let’s just focus on the enemies at hand.” They didn’t even know what kind of Kitsune they were dealing with here. So the appropriate strategy for the fight would have to choose rather swiftly after it actually appears. At the very least, Leila was pretty okay at working under pressure. That said, Akeya’s comments seemed to be consistently impressing her more and more. “You want to eat the residual energy of the… curse that we’re trying to lift…

Well, she was a dark-eating dragon. So maybe her stomach and magic-circulating system were able to purify it just fine. But for now, it needed to remain indeed, which she thankfully understood as well. She wasn’t even against the idea of distracting the ghosts. Was this really a dragon Leila was currently working with. Or perhaps this was the mental instability she talked about before, actually throwing that prideful nature of dragons away for few moments and working together with what most dragons would see as a lesser being. Even though Leila was actually technically of much higher standing than most living creatures in existence.

That aside, she had quickly put her hands together and channeled her magic, numerous vines and roots rising up from the ground and coiling all around the fountain to reinforce it. If even more animals would come, it was important to keep the structure intact as it provided a very convenient medium for Leila’s plan. Letting it get destroyed would definitely not make things go out of control but it would set them back an annoying bit of effort. The process itself took only a few seconds so the silver-haired girl was then also able to watch the spectacular show of a Twilight dragon.

Despite the simple nature of what happened, it actually looked quite impressive. And what more, Akeya appeared to be a fair bit different when she had descended from the heavens after her distraction move. Clapping her hands together, Leila chuckled. “Seems that we now match!” It was a pretty amusing thought, comparing this new version of the dragoness with the Eden’s Caretaker, her hair also silver and skin on the more pale side. But alas, her eyes were still just that deep blue. Looking around, it at least seemed that the ghosts would not be a problem for at least a few following minutes.

However, what would soon be a problem was the beast that moved steadily closer to their location. Akeya was the first one to locate it, her words swiftly making sure that Leila was aware of its presence as well. And a quick focus on the magical sensor of her body revealed that this was probably the big game they were hunting today. Excessing everything else around here several times over, this had to be the Kitsune they were warned about. A guardian of this place and normally a peaceful creature, now driven mad.

See if you can maybe flank it! Any restraining magic will do, or your brute force… just… try not to hurt it too much, if possible.” It did not sound like a command. Rather, Leila’s voice conveyed that she was greatly worried about their foe. She truly wanted to save the spirit without hurting it too badly. After all, none of this was actually its fault. It got roped into this undeservingly. But it seemed that this would be no easy task after all. Soon enough, the Kitsune burst through a nearby building and showed itself.

The structure had completely collapsed after an impact of force that great, the dust settling in only to reveal a giant pale white fox with multiple blue glowing symbols on its body. And behind it swayed seven whole tails. Meaning they were dealing with a pseudo-deity that has been alive for over seven whole centuries. Indeed, this would be a proper foe for a fight. And the very first thing the beast did was start gathering energy on the tips of its tails in order to fire them as a singular beam at the bigger threat present - Leila.

Naturally, she would be able to easily dodge it. There was only one problem… the fountain was directly behind her. And surely there were also still smaller animals in need of cleansing. Deciding that she would not let the fountain get destroyed, the girl braced as several trees suddenly burst through the stone ground on both of her sides, coiling like snakes all around her and forming a sturdy shield against the beam which collided head-on with it. The attack was actually powerful enough to send a decent shockwave for several hundreds of meters.

Once the energy dissipated, it revealed Leila in her broken down cocoon of wood. It seemed that the beam was actually stronger than the barrier, piercing through it partially. The outer layer of the girl’s clothing that consisted of a purple shirt and skirt were in tatters, falling to the ground completely in few following seconds. Leaving Leila in the skin-tight bodysuit beneath it, she had composed herself as the few small scratch wounds on her body healed immediately. “With each new tail, the Kitsune’s power grows greatly… how powerful must the curse’s source be to corrupt a being such as you…

It didn’t react to the words. Instead, it seemed that the Kitsune was preparing for a dash forward as it would like to engage in close-quarters combat. Leila braced herself for that, but she actually had an attack of her own in mind. Now she just had to wait for a bit to see if Akeya would be able to restrain the beast while it was not focused on her, or perhaps do something else that would turn the fight over in their favor. Not that they were losing or anything… but that laser beam was pretty impressive.

Post by Akeya 6th January 2019, 11:57 pm

"Dark energy is dark energy. You said it was already purified, so combined with my own nature there shouldn't be any problems I think." Akeya looked over at the cloud of residual magic, her tongue flitting out again. Worst come to worst you could just purify me like you did with those animals, although it should work faster if you just use your hand-wait no don't do that." Her face turned red again before she shook it and returned her attention to their surroundings.

If Akeya could have been aware of what Leila was thinking she'd probably have laughed. While she wouldn't deny that dragons are very prideful and tend to look down on most creatures for being weaker she'd point out that only the stupid dragons would refuse to cooperate with someone who was obviously stronger, especially if there weren't any strong negative feelings and there would be long lasting consequences to refusing to cooperate. Since Akeya was part of a guild if she became known as someone who couldn't even work together with mages while on a job she'd quickly get a bad standing and even be treated as a liability. While dragons were strong they weren't strong enough to casually shrug off the threat of being hunted down by an entire mage guild, especially one which contained so many strong mages.

That said it wasn't like there weren't a fair amount of relatively stupid dragons. While they usually had a lot of raw brainpower that pride thing tended to result in poor decision making.

When Leila commented that Akeya in her light-oriented appearance looked a lot like herself the dragoness tilted her head to the side, then looked at herself and nodded. "So far as colour theme is concerned yes. Might be useful for confusing the kitsune when it arrives." Given that Leila hadn't said yay or nay to her question of whether the residual energies were still required Akeya refrained from devouring them just yet, but also stayed on top of the fountain so if needed she could quickly eat them and then get to work. In response to Leila's request to help immobilize the kitsune she nodded, her tail moving from side to side behind her as she crouched on top of the fountain and narrowed her eyes while she waited. Under normal circumstances she'd be seeking a good shadow to hide in, but with her moonlit appearance that wouldn't be as effective. Instead she'd be relying on what happened once the kitsune arrived to decide on what her next move would be.

When the magical fox did arrive Akeya did a quick count of the tails as she tensed. Seven tails. While not as bad as nine, that still meant that their opponent was a powerful one. Reckless moves could be punished harshly. Furthermore with that many tails it most likely had powerful magic abilities as well. Considering that kitsune were renown for their ability to craft illusions, that was worrisome. Akeya didn't like it when she had to deal with opponents who tried to mess with her perception.

Of course watching the kitsune fire a beam of concentrated energy at Leila changed her priorities a bit. At first she only guarded herself with her arms when the shockwave hit her, spreading her wings to help keep herself in place. Any other creatures that were still in the area quickly vacated after that, as even the most hostile of them wasn't so stupid as to try to pick a fight with that kind of enemy. However seeing what the attack had done on Leila's defences the dragoness's reptilian eyes widened before she let out an angry hiss.

    "You're going to regret that."

The dark energies that had been left behind by the purified curse were quickly drawn towards Akeya, the scaled assassin swallowing it all as her scales darkened and returned to their midnight blue. Her hair also turned black and her skin back to olive, making her look the same as when this all started. But she didn't give anyone a lot of time to inspect the changes as she disappeared in a burst of shadow, several small orbs of darkness flying in all directions to act as decoys.

The kitsune, preparing to dash towards Leila, didn't have much time to reach when a scaled and clawed fist shot up from its own shadow to strike it squarely in the chin with enough force to lift its upper body. While the fox had glowing markings on its body they were almost completely absent on its underside, giving Akeya enough darkness combined with the fact that they were now moving in the twilight zone.

As the kitsune's body moved upwards from the powerful strike Akeya jumped out of its shadow, in one flowing movement planting her clawed feet on the ground and pulling back her other arm before striking the corrupted kitsune in the chest. The second punch had enough force behind it to launch her opponent backwards, throwing it back into the ruins of the building it had broken through to get to the square. While the attack hadn't done a lot of damage it had certainly thrown the creature off balance.

Akeya herself jumped backwards, retreating back to her partner's side while inhaling to gather some more energies from the world around her. Now that the sun was rapidly disappearing there was a lot of darkness for her to eat out of the atmosphere itself, as well as the leftover light that was still causing the heavens to appear blue instead of the near pitch-black that would follow up once only the moon and the stars were left to illuminate the world.

"I'm going to break its bones for that. Hope you don't mind. You can heal it afterwards if you're so concerned about it."

She was snarling, baring her teeth as her relatively cheerful attitude from before had been swapped for barely restrained anger. Like at the start of the job, except back then she'd merely been frustrated. Now she was downright pissed.

    Leila Vergious

Despite the girl being mostly uninjured with what small scratches did emerge on her body being healed rather swiftly, it seemed that Akeya took a lot of offense to the action that their enemy took. Though Leila did not hear much, she clearly recognized the dragoness’ voice and how angry it seemed when the dust around her settled and the ringing in her ears from the beam of magic faded away into the sounds of the night all around them. Along with some moaning of the ghosts in the distance, everything appeared to be in perfectly fine order until few more seconds passed and the shadows around the Kitsune started being manipulated.

A power that was only natural for someone with powers like Akeya’s, as well as something that the Eden’s caretaker has already seen at some point in the past, Leila observed the attacks from a safe distance. And although she cringed a bit whenever the attacks connected as she could almost feel the pain herself, she did not intervene. As far as she saw, these attacks were not ones that could properly harm their opponent, much less kill it. So while she wanted this to end as peacefully as possible, restraining the beast in some way was quite necessary for her to succeed at her own plan.

Soon enough, Akeya had returned to Leila’s side as the Kitsune was pushed back a little bit. Though this was not exactly the result the silver-haired maiden had hoped for. After few attacks exchanged, they were not exactly anywhere close to properly ending the fight. In fact, they seemed to have gone back a few steps, as both sides retreated, one of them involuntarily. Not to mention that the words the dragoness uttered were not exactly pleasing for Leila to hear either, forcing her head to turn toward her partner in a moment of disbelief before sighing.

Yes, I do mind! Now get back in there and try to restrain it or weaken it as I asked before!” Speaking much more loudly and sharply than before, Leila figured she had to assert a bit of dominance here herself. After all, she was currently paired up with a dragon. And at the end of the day, she was also the more powerful of the two of them. Without any real warning, a root spring from the ground right below Akeya. In fact, it was so precisely aimed that it pushed her feet up in the air, working like a spring that tossed her quite high up.

Considering she had wings, Leila worried not for how she would handle that. But if she could get some support from the skies, then that would probably make her odds much better. It was also clear to her that she could not let Akeya alone handle this, else her unstable feelings could get someone killed rather easily. She knew this from the first moment it was mentioned, and as she said before, she was ready to deal with it. Getting in position, the girl broke into a sprint head-on against the Kitsune that was moving out of the rubble.

It’s roar signified that it was quite mad at them, but that did not scare the ex-guild master one bit. Grazing her hand on the ground for a moment, the fountain behind her suddenly started changing as roots and vines tore apart the ground and started forming a bit of a canal leading behind Leila, guiding the water from before along with it right toward the Kitsune. The opponent did not wait idly either, as it started charging it’s magical energy again.

Countless roots would pierce the stone ground, however, and wrap themselves around all four limbs of the fox. In a panic, balls of moon magic started forming all around it and flying off in random directions, quickly destroying the area all around them. Taking this opportunity to get up close and personal with the Kitsune, Leila was finally able to bring forth her full force of nature, giant trees growing from the ground and effortlessly coiling itself around the beast to capture it in one place. Not to mention that it could also serve as an emergency shield for the guy if Akeya went to go berserk.

Though Leila still counted on a bit of help, as it seemed that their enemy boasted a rather large amount of physical force in that feral body, further boosted by the curse magic flowing through it. It was almost tearing the wood apart. The silver-haired girl quickly focused on forming the canal behind her, having it suddenly raise up almost like a tiny water bridge, water traveling up it using the momentum it gained until now to basically form a shower for the fox. Though this would only truly work if the dragoness aided in some way to keep the enemy steady and in one place.

And while there was a fair bit of water infused with the calming magic, it would still not be enough. In fact, the entire ruins they were in were cursed to some degree. However, now that the medium the curse chose was weakened, she could probably completely purge the curse with her top-tier magic. And she planned to do exactly that. Taking a few steps back, she panted a bit as she could already feel her personal magical supply draining to near nothing. But finally, she was ready to cast the spell.

Akeya… keep it steady as much as you can… we can’t allow the curse to bounce back and renew itself again… now… Gardens of Eden, come forth at my command and take this land as your own, along with what makes it rot!” Along with her words, a powerful wave of magic shook the entirety of the ruins. And despite it being night now, it seemed as if the ground itself started glowing in white and silver colors, a brilliant light that was warm and comforting to all. Just like Leila said, the Gardens of Eden were moving in to cleanse the curse.

Even though it was covered in stone, the ground would grow to be covered in azure-blue grass that swayed in the pleasant cool wind, numerous trees with ivory white bark and leaves of the same color as the grass appeared. Magical birds and critters would sing and move around as if no battle at all was occurring. And more importantly, the curse magic became completely visible as it started traveling from the environment to the place where Leila stood. For just a moment, the entire place was alive, a paradise of Eden. Leila’s worlds that she had created oh so long ago.

But in another instant, it was all gone. The Gardens retreated back to the proper dimension the moment the curse became bound to them, dragging it out of this world and into Leila’s where it could be easily purified in no time. The light faded and the world returned to normal, leaving the girl fairly exhausted but still able to hold it together. As to what happened with the fox, it had to be seen. And so Leila got up and started looking around for both what used to be their enemy and Akeya.

[Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious) Empty Re: [Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious)

Post by Akeya 13th January 2019, 2:53 pm

It was good to see that despite the attack Leila was still in good condition, but Akeya was still in a very bad mood. Flexing her claws she prepared for the next assault where she'd do a bit more than just punch the damned kitsune which thought it could attack her partner just because of some annoying curse. It was only the fact that said partner looked at her with a displeased expression that kept the dragoness from charging back in. Instead she glared back at Leila, fangs bared and her eyes narrowed as she listened to the goddess's reprimand. She couldn't bring herself to care about Leila's desire to not harm the thing right now, but she was still rational enough to realize that if she outright disobeyed Leila's command the stronger mage would just restrain her along with the kitsune. As frustrating as it was she couldn't do her own thing right now, which just worsened her mood.

"Trying to keep an enemy of this level restrained without using force to weaken it beforehand is a tall order." Was the only comment she made before turning her gaze towards their vulpine enemy, who was still recovering from being punched backwards. Fortunately it seemed like the curse that was making it go mad and lash out was also making it hard for the mythical creature to concentrate, so once it was knocked off balance it didn't recover immediately as it was already struggling mentally.

However before Akeya could take advantage of this to create a quick plan she felt a surge of magic below her, which was almost immediately followed up by something launching her high up into the air. Twisting and spreading her wings to take control of her flight Akeya looked down and saw a giant root, large enough to lift the angered dragon up and launch her. It looked like Leila didn't want her to get close to their opponent right now. This was something of an issue, given that Akeya's skillset was built around quickly getting close to the enemy and either eliminating or disabling them using precise force.

Looking down from her position in the air Akeya saw Leila use roots and trees to trap the kitsune, after which the kitsune retaliated with frantic explosions. Fortunately these just destroyed the area rather than harming the goddess, the dragoness wondering if she was really needed at this point as she kept her altitude. She could bind the fox with darkness but that technique was meant to control the actions of weaker creatures. If this corrupted spirit could break through the trees that bound it the dark bindings weren't going to perform any better. And she didn't have any ranged attacks which wouldn't inflict a lot of harm as well...

It didn't take very long for the scaled assassin to conclude that she'd have to disobey Leila's command of refraining from harming the creature. It was already beginning to break through the trees that were meant to hold it down, and it was powerful enough that anything Akeya could throw at it that didn't inflict some measure of harm wasn't going to slow it down. There was only one thing she could do at this point, really... Well, at least Leila might appreciate the display.

Reaching deep inside of her own reservoires Akeya let loose the draconic might that was usually suppressed, pulling it force and letting it flood her entire body. Her scales quickly multiplied to cover her entire body and her shape contorted, any humanoid features disappearing to be mutated into something a lot more bestial and a lot more reptilian. It only took seconds before she was diving towards the fox, circling around it and descending onto the corrupted kitsune from behind. Her form was now fully draconic, her jaws latching onto the furred monster's neck and pulling on it while at the same time a large taloned claw slammed down on the white back to press it against the ground. Neither fang nor claw pierced the skin of her prey, but it was clear that Akeya wasn't going to let the kitsune move without it bleeding for it.

Shadow strings burst forth from the fox's own shadow and wrapped themselves around the seven large tails it displayed, binding them together and then holding them tightly against the ground. With the beast's neck trapped between the dragon's powerful jaws and both back and tails pressed against the ground the kitsune could do little more than thrash and squirm. Under normal circumstances Akeya wouldn't have the strength to hold down a seven-tailed kitsune enhanced by whatever corruption had taken hold of it, but with dragon force activated and her humanity fully abandoned for the time being the twilight dragon wasn't going to let an overgrown scavenger overpower her.

Beyond her draconic shape her appearance had also changed in other ways: her scales were iridiscent and shimmered as if a rippling pool reflecting the light originating from celestial bodies, and the membrane of her wings was like a night sky with an aurora flowing through it. At times the darkness was more present and she was barely visible, and at times the light was dominant and she glowed like a full moon on strange planets.

In this position Akeya was also sprayed by the enchanted waters, although since her current condition wasn't caused by a curse or other magical effect it didn't do as good a job soothing her as it did the kitsune. Still, there was a comforting sensation to it, especially when Leila summoned the Gardens of Eden and the entire area was enveloped in the goddess's healing powers.

The dragon didn't have much time to admire the scenery before it was already gone, and given that she was holding the kitsune down while the curse was forcefully removed she didn't really have the leisure to look around. She could feel her prey weakening as the dark power that had both been warping and empowering it was removed. Once Leila was done the seven-tailed fox outright collapsed, showing no sign of consciousness after. Akeya held him down for a bit longer before releasing the dark bindings on the tails and removed her jaws from his neck. The claw on his back was used to pick up the cleansed spirit, the dragon carrying him over to Leila and dropping him at her feet.

"Looks like it worked. You'll have to heal him though, he strained himself trying to get free and I can't guarantee his squirming didn't result in some of my fangs and claws having pierced his skin." Indeed there were signs of blood in the kitsune's fur coat, although they were small and wouldn't be a threat to his life even if the goddess didn't heal him.

The dragon took a posture similar to a dog, her hind legs folded up and her front claws placed between them. As her tail slowly moved from side to side behind her it left a faint trail of shimmering light which quickly faded away.

"For future reference, I am unsuited for ranged support, especially if you wish me to inflict no harm."

    Leila Vergious

During her preparation to force open a gate large enough to let Gardens of Eden through, Leila didn’t exactly have the focus required to watch around for her partner. Thankfully she fully trusted Akeya, so there was really no need to keep a keen eye on the dragoness. Though it also resulted in the silver-haired girl missing the majestic transformation from a humanoid to complete dragon. Alas, their mission was much more important than observing a magical transformation that Leila herself was capable of to a certain degree.

Yes, the most important part was that the Gardens were able to manifest and take in the curse from the vixen before disappearing. This meant that the dark energy was now present inside of Leila’s world and being actively purified. And no dark energy of this caliber could ever spread or corrupt the Gardens. There was only one thing that was capable of such things and has destroyed parts of the Gardens before… well, no need to worry about that now. The noises of fighting and struggle started to die down and the girl was able to start focusing on her surroundings again.

And although the Gardens were no longer present within this realm, it appeared that Leila’s appearance was still somewhat changed as her hair went from the silver shade to nearly fully white and almost faintly glowing. Not only that, many ivory white flowers had blossomed all over her outfit, mostly appearing as lilacs and roses. Calmly looking up, she had finally spotted transformed Akeya and the Kitsune she had brought along, the poor thing being unconscious now. “Oh, yes…” Quickly putting her hands on the mythical beast, her magic activated once more.

A new tree sprouted behind the girl, it’s bark much more colorful than anything she had summoned before as if it was reflecting the colors of a rainbow. The leaves of the tree as well, dancing in the hues of blues, magentas, and reds. As if in combined seasons, many crystals started falling from the crown of this tree and falling upon the beast. Crystals that contained potent healing magic, swiftly sealing up its wounds and revitalizing the body. It didn’t take long at all before their enemy was all patched up, though not waking up still. Which was probably for the best anyway.

Once finished caring for the spirit, Leila’s eyes once more looked up at the dragon. Though it was clear that they were different from before. This was not exactly the same Leila that came to this job at the start. She was considerably more calm and collected, restrained. The influence of Eden as a place of peace and prosperity seemed to have caused this during that big spell, as it was Leila’s first time actually using it in Earthland. And naturally, using such powerful magic would often come with some unexpected side effects. And yet, this was perhaps for the best as she would not jump at Akeya right away thanks to it.

So you really are a dragon. Fascinating… ah, and I didn’t really mean to restrict you as much as you ended up thinking. Naturally, with an enemy as powerful as this, there is no way to actually restrain it without unleashing some more powerful attacks. I figured you had a breath that could maybe force it to the ground or something. I  merely did not wish for you to seriously or even permanently injure an innocent being.

At the end of the day, that much was accomplished. And the two of them were working together for the first time after a very long absence. So a slight miscommunication like that was to be expected. As long as they didn’t botch up the job, that was all that really mattered. And seeing as the area was cleared of darkness that plagued it, the curse, everything truly went to normal. The animals from before started sheeply roaming the area and the ghosts returned back into the ethereal world where they belonged, no longer drawn to anything here in the reality of the living.

While the curse lies defeated, we have not learned its origins and how it spread so much in this area. Perhaps the fox deity will be able to tell us more once it wakes. But for now… is that form of yours forced? Can you change at will?

The curious questions finally started. Though at least they were said in a perfectly fluent and calm tone rather than the girl completely freaking out over it. She didn’t even feel the need to approach the dragoness and start feeling her up all over. Though there was absolutely no denying that deep in her mind, she was very much interested in how those strange scales felt like.

Oh, and… good job not losing control at all, despite your situation. You did well.

Post by Akeya 27th January 2019, 5:20 pm

Akeya watched as Leila got to work healing the fox, not because she was interested in the healing process but because her partner had changed in appearance. Of course so had Akeya herself, having turned into a dragon (albeit not a full-sized one), but it was still worth noting. The healing magic Leila used was also pretty flashy, leaving the dragoness wondering if she used it like that every time she needed to heal something or if the goddess was pulling all the stops to ensure the kitsune would be in optimal condition once he woke up.

Looking around she noticed how all the animals in the area were now calm, even behaving as if they were tired. Even the boars with their notorious temperament had lost the will to fight, instead calmly wandering away as the town square slowly emptied itself of all living things aside from the two mages, their prey, and the plants that Leila had spawned while purging the curse that had been wreaking havoc and fighting the kitsune.

Glancing down at the kitsune the dragoness snorted. Even while knocked out he still had an aura to him that made it clear that he wasn't your average creature. She didn't know how he would react once he woke up, but she assumed that Leila would be taking care of that. Although regardless of Akeya's casual attitude she was aware that it was actually quite important that they had a brief conversation with the seven-tailed fox. This kind of magical disease wouldn't have appeared out of nowhere without cause, especially one which twisted the minds of those hit by it and drove them to hostility. While illness could easily drive animals to aggression it shouldn't be this bad, and especially not with a kitsune whose intelligence was far beyond that of a mundane animal.

She just hoped the furry spiritual creature didn't suffer from amnesia on the whole experience. It wouldn't be surprising if he didn't remember anything of what happened, but it would be inconvenient if they wished to find out why this entire area had suddenly been afflicted with a curse.

"I don't remember giving you reason to think otherwise." Was her first response when Leila declared that she finally was certain about Akeya being a dragon. She guessed it was because her humanoid form looked more like some halfbreed. She could do something about that, but then again it made it easier to interact with people when needed. Her current humanoid form did a good job intimidating the average person without outright terrorizing them. If she changed that into something which was unquestionably full dragon she'd probably be treated as some kind of monster and would have trouble entering human settlements.

When Leila explained that she never wanted Akeya to avoid any form of harm at all, purely wishing for the kitsune to not suffer permanent damage, the dragoness tilted her head. "Hrmmmm... Well, it worked out in the end either way. Although you shouldn't underestimate the power of a dragon's breath. It's one of the most powerful attacks we can produce. Gathering energy inside your own body is a lot easier than shaping it outside your body, so a dragon's breath can hold a lot more power than most abilities with less risk to it." Given that this wasn't exactly secret knowledge she didn't mind explaining, especially since it took more than that for someone to be able to replicate a dragon's breath attack successfully. "With a powerful healer like you nearby I could have done a lot without risking lasting damage. Broken bones are an easy fix as long as I keep the breakline clean and avoid fragmentation." She didn't really mean it as a defence of her actions, although she did want Leila to understand that she thought the healer might have exaggerated the issue a bit.

The dragoness nodded in agreement when the goddess noted how they had yet to figure out what had caused this situation. Akeya had been thinking the same thing, including the hope that the fox would be able to tell them. "I hope so. It wouldn't surprise me if he had trouble remembering what happened though. Magic which alters the mind to this extent has a record of mssing up your memories as well. Although it should still be possible that he remembers, since I don't think this was a form of possession." The sudden question regarding her form had Akeya blinking for a second. "I can change my form at will, although this one requires quite a bit of energy." She looked herself over, noticing how her form gave the appearance of not being fully physical thanks to how the scales constantly flowed from radiant shimmering to elusive invisibility. "Given that it was only recently that I obtained the powers of light I'm not entirely comfortable with it yet, although I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon. For now I'll stick to it for as long as possible so I have more time to get accustomed to it."

She lowered her head to sniff the fox, smelling blood, sweat, a mixture of hormones and other stuff which could best be called the kitsune's natural odour, and some magic as well. She was still doing this when Leila complimented her on not losing control. The dragon looked up at the goddess, then lifted her head and looked towards the fountain before turning her attention back towards her fellow mage. "Thanks, I guess. I'm still not satisfied with how much influence my emotions are having on my thoughts though. It compromises my rationality." She then waited several seconds before continuing. "That said, if you've got the energy for it I'd appreciate it if you could create some more of that enchanted water. Maybe with some more power in it, since it'd only be for me. While the rain did little I'm thinking if I get a good amount inside of me it might ensure that any remaining instability in my mind is purely psychological."

    Leila Vergious

There is no need to give a reason. Most people will simply assume that the one they are interacting with is not a real dragon due to their rarity and usual hostility toward other races.” Or at least such hostility being present in the news whenever a dragon would actually show up. Even peaceful ones were often treated as a potential threat to all. All that aside, the fact that Akeya was a proper dragon was still quite fascinating. Albeit also not currently something Leila could exploit in any way.

But it certainly seemed like even she might have had some of that dragon pride inside of her when she started defending her abilities. Or perhaps that was just natural courage and value of self? Either way, it took just one simple look from Leila, her expression still awfully neutral and unchanged due to the side effects of pure magic affecting her. “And you also shouldn’t underestimate a defensive power of a creature like this. With this number of tales, it’s clear that it has only a few centuries before achieving divinity.

Or so was the tale, that nine-tailed foxes could ascend above all else and achieve a divine status, essentially becoming what one would call a deity or a god. The logic of magic manipulation within one’s body rather than outside of it was sound, of course. But this was all more of a question regarding the difference of magical power. For even the most powerful attack of one’s arsenal would do nothing against the weakest barrier of another’s collection if the difference in magical energy was great enough. This seemed especially apparent with beings like this that often possessed bodies made out of magical and spiritual energies.

You also call me a ‘powerful healer’, though my use of Gardens of Eden is primarily destructive. An unfortunate result of my line of work and some rather aggressive actions taken against the Gardens in the distant past.” Not exactly something Leila often talked about or even had a reason to think about. But since she was with Akeya who appeared to adore proper and logical explanations, it just sorta fell out of her all at once. The healing spells she used were indeed quite potent due to the spell’s ranking, but that was about it. Her powers were hardly focused on that sort of use.

Which in its own way was a bit unfortunate when she thought about it all. After all, the Gardens of Eden were supposed to be a peaceful paradise for just about anyone. In an ironic twist, Leila was using this power in the same way all those humans who wanted to steal from the Gardens wanted to. To destroy. It prompted the girl to sigh quietly as the healing process mostly finished on the Fox. “The curse has been completely purified by the Gardens now as well. Since this one shows no signs of waking, I shall take him into my custody and ask when he does wake.

And with that, she opened up another portal directly below the spiritual being, transporting it effortlessly into the Gardens. That left her and Akeya alone in the ruins, their job well and truly finished now. Along with what appeared to be a pretty simple request. “The water from before just acted as a medium for my magic. It would be annoying to cleanse every animal individually, after all. If it’s just you, then there is no need for a medium, I can insert my magical energy into you directly.

Saying that, she moved closer to the dragoness and placed her hand onto the bare scales. “That said, I’ve done that simply to purge the curse within the animals. It wasn’t necessarily like a calming spell. Doing that again would only add more holy energy to the mix inside of you. So instead I will equalize the amount of dark and holy magic inside of your physical frame, since I can manipulate both types myself. It should help much more than just trying to ‘purge’ something foreign inside of you.” As she said, she also did.

Magical sensing ability of a mage like Leila was quite precise and reliable, so it was hardly difficult to figure out exactly what she had to do in order to create an equal amount of different magics within Akeya. This balance should keep her stable until her physical body actually gets used to manipulating two different kinds of magic, at which point she should be able to remain the same even if the balance is tipped due to the casting of specific spells. The process of inserting more magic into the dragoness also seemed to affect Leila in some way.

The white flowers on her body seemed to finally wither away as well, the unnatural aura of calmness and holiness leaving her as she was before the grand spell. Which also seemed to prompt a realization reaction, quickly jumping away from Akeya and turning around before covering her face. “Oh my gosh, I actually touched a living, breathing dragon! The scales are so smooth, I want to touch them more, aaagh~” Seemingly having a bit of a fangirl fit, the dragoness could have enjoyed a state of balance for once. One that she would hopefully keep up.

[Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious) Empty Re: [Job] Return to Equilibrium (Akeya/Leila Vergious)

Post by Akeya 3rd February 2019, 3:48 pm

"Understandable. Although it's less open hostility and more that we don't like it when the smaller creatures get in the way." Akeya explained this, although when Leila stated that the dragoness shouldn't underestimate the resilience of the kitsune she sniffed and fell silent for several seconds before speaking again, this time quietly.

"I'll get back to you on that once I've killed a god."

She then acted as if she hadn't said that, instead just tilting her head and looking at Leila as the goddess explained that she didn't see herself as a powerful healer. The twilight dragon shook her head, lifting one claw to point at the fountain that the goddess had used to distribute her cleansing magic. "You can purge powerful curses and use powerful healing spells. Even if you're better at destruction your raw power allows you to perform powerful healing magic as well. Enough that broken bones shouldn't be an issue for you unless the wound has something on it to interfere with healing attempts." Akeya was aware that there were types of attacks which would hinder healing, although she herself wasn't one to use them a lot due to not yet having figured out how to create such an effect herself. She could make healing difficult through mundane means, but she had yet to discover the secret to magic that would actively block healing magic.

She didn't move when Leila moved closer and placed a hand against her scaled side. However her tail did move from side to side behind her as she lowered her head. "From what I can tell there is little issue in the balance between my light and my dark. However you are welcome to try if you think you can influence my state of mind that way."

Sensing Akeya's magic the goddess would find that the dragon's light and dark were actually quite balanced. However both sides were constantly fluctuating, and the source was easy to determine: the light kept growing stronger only for the dark to swallow it up as if to contain it. The austere assassin wasn't completely comfortable with her light half yet, and because of that the light essence inside of her was unstable. And then her dark essence became unstable as well in its attempt to suppress the light essence. It also acted as a representation of Akeya's mental state, where she was moving from cold and apathetic to energetic and easily aroused in either anger or excitement.

Rather than adding either element to balance it out the white-haired H-Ranked mage would be faced with the task of getting the two opposing elements to calm down and stop clashing with one another. While it wasn't causing any direct harm to Akeya it was definitely not helping the dragon to reach a stable state of mind. Akeya would remain unmoving as Leila got to work, although when her companion suddenly jumped away and began to fangirl about touching a dragon she stared in confusion before sighing.

Shifting her weight she began to lower herself until she was laying on the ground, her head also resting on the stone pavement of the square while she looked at Leila with one eye. "Calm down. Now that we've gotten rid of the curse we've got the time so if you want to study the scales some more you can. Just don't pat me on the head." Normally she wouldn't do this, but Akeya did feel a bit better with her inner self no longer fluctuating as much so she thought it only fair if she repaid Leila like this.
