    Today held a bountiful amount of emotions for Aiyana Shuer. Not only was she on one of her first jobs after rejoining Lamia Scale, something that she still felt odd about after leaving them for so long and running her own guild, she was on one of major importance. A cry for help had come from a nation known as the Principality of Veronica, a place she had never even heard of until she had saw the job, to stop something from leveling their kingdom. At first she had thought they had bitten off more than they could chew, like put themselves into a losing battle against Pergrande for instance, or done something that had gone terribly outside of the expected results. Instead, it appeared a giant beast was coming straight for them. It was not attacking them for a reason, they just happened to be in the path it was taking. From what information was given it was still a good ways out from them, far enough for anyone willing to help to be able to get to it before they were hit, and the goal was to either change the beast's path or slay it. Aiyana would prefer to keep this 'Storm King' alive if possible, though she understood that it could come down to its life or an entire nation. The choice for which to let die was obvious, but only if it came to that.

    The young woman was donned in her armor that she had grown used to wearing whenever it was needed. It would help stop some of the attacks that might come her way today, even though she had no fear of death even since she learned it was impossible for her to really die, and would let her stay in the fight once her and anyone else coming to stop this king of beasts began the battle to save a nation and more. Her mask upon her face and her charm bracelet on her right wrist would give her and her allies powerful tools for the upcoming job. The mask would let them speak to each other telepathically, should they choose to do so with her, and the bracelet would allow them to see through illusions and protect them from a fair chunk of damage so long as they stayed within one hundred meters of her. Inside of her shadow sat her silent protector, a shadow faerie that went by the name of Memory. There was an infinite amount of usefulness to the guardians summoning abilities, but the pet would remain in the Lamia Scale mage's shadow until those abilities were absolutely necessary.

    For now, the slayer mage was waiting on the sands of Crescent Island to see who her allies would really be. Would they be someone she knew? It would be nice to do a job of this caliber with someone like Ardere or Elyx, especially with how long it had been since she had really been with either. If it was not someone she knew it would be someone new. Would she meet another of the Wizard Saints? Or maybe someone else that was known across the lands. These one hundred year jobs were not taken often, and usually were only taken by those that were powerful enough to live to tell the tales of it. The excitement mixed with a tang of worry made her tails move about erratically as her ears twitched at the slightest of sounds as she paced the beach. Her patience was wearing thin, and she was raring to get moving, but her knowledge and understanding of the task at hand kept her waiting for the others to arrive so they could do introductions and plannings before they made their moves.

    Was it fate?

    Some jobs reach the ears of anyone willing to listen. Wizard saints, or even the four horsemen were capable of hearing the cries for help. Though the latter will tend to have alternative reasons while the former simply do it to be heroes. More so, a hundred year job such as this posed the highest tier of threats. Only strong mages, S-class and above could dare to try and take on the job, for the sole fact the dangers alone could put hundreds if not more at risk if a lower mage tried to take it on. Needless to say, this meant whom ever would be taking on this job would tend to be high class legal, perhaps even a neutral guild member.

    So, already with Raiza considering taking on this 'storm king' job, he was well aware the moment he stepped forth, his potential allies in this job may turn on him, or worse, turn on him after the job is done. Though it was still a risk he was willing to take, and as the newly named horseman of war, he had to have more to show for such a dark title as that. Which, even holding such a title alone gave him reason to take the job on. After all, if this storm king were to win, then it'd go on, and cause more destruction. Said destruction was not what Raiza truly wanted, not with him currently researching a few things in the area. Though the other reason to take the job, was perhaps simply because of the target itself. One of the creatures called a storm king was strong enough to brutally destroy anything in it's path, and of course, there was a reason it was a 100 year job after all. After all, since these jobs were not taken so lightly or often if at all.

    So, with reasoning down, aside from the whole, maybe Raiza just wanted to fact, he had long decided to take on this job. Legend had told of a monster that lived under the seas, only to emerge every fifty years. This was great research potential, but also potential to test his own slayer power, and to aid working on his special project he had been working on, one that was untold, and will remain so even now. Curious? Oh well. For now though, Raiza was already heading towards the country that had posted the job. A country that was more like an island, but at that same logic, was still not Fiore, which was the another reason Raiza had even came here. This time though, with his presence already expected, simply because he was told two others had taken the job, and a third was needed. He was okayed by the client to take the job, surprisingly enough, but more so, he anticipated meeting the two allies whom may already be there.

    Finally, raising up from the shadows, having little indication he was there up until that point, the dark mage set his eyes upon the horizon, the glare of sun beating down on the sandy beach where he now stood, as his own body had manifested from the shadows cast by a nearby tree. Taking a step out from the shadows, his figure emerged fully as his holy magical aura filled the area with a haunting thought. A dark mage with holy energy after all, was both strange, and not too common.

    Once emerged from within the darkness, Raiza's gaze shifted from the horizon onto another figure that was already here. The only figure there currently was one whom Raiza knew, but did not realize he knew them, and that was simply because he did not recognize her. Had he kept up with them, he may of known they were Aiyana, a mage whom long ago did a C-class job with him, and one other. Back then, it was much more of simple times for Raiza. Now though, Raiza simply knew or at least assumed that one of his allies was this female before him.

    Would they recognize him as the embodiment of war, not just a sinner, but the horsemen of war? Perhaps, that alone made Raiza on the very least on guard. Though it didn't appear that way as he took stride towards them, hands at his side, open palmed, and not even reaching for his blade in the slightest. Everything about him was as like a shadow, nothing stood out, as he wasn't holding any malice in this encounter, but it still meant he still was careful about it.

    "I assume you're the first of my allies on this job, so greetings to you."

    Pondering his next words carefully, he knew very little about the creature they were supposed to kill or repel, sort of a hard ordeal to plan out, but he knew the legends, along with the iconic 'storm' name it was given. So, ideas of wind, water, and lightning was a potential, but possibly others may be included.

    "Any idea whom our third will be?"

    At least, that sort of question, didn't pose a threat to his own knowledge of the job. It wasn't that he was unwilling to share his thoughts, it was more like, he didn't know much, and didn't wish to look foolish on the initial meeting. Though, plans, and introductions to whom everyone actually was could come later anyways. Right now, Raiza was still, silently scoping out the area waiting for the third to arrive, hoping they at least would arrive soon so that introductions would be out of the way. Though, would he really need to truly introduce himself? Would he be recognized solely because of the title the magic council had given him? He was no longer a simple rouge mage, but one that could threaten with war fairly easily after all. Though, he supposed common courtesy was still hopefully a thing, and would introduce himself regardless soon enough. However, unless asked, he would be waiting for the last ally to arrive first, to prevent needing to repeat himself.

    Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ H Rank

    Her first real one hundred year job… how hard could it be? Elyx seemed to whip them out in less than a month or two, so would a better label for the difficulty of the tasks be ‘One Month Job’? Or maybe, her husband was simply lucky. It was said that not everyone returned from those jobs alive, and one had to be a minimum of S rank to even dare. Izayuki had been informed by the job paper that one or two others were to join her for this task. A beast of storms, though she had come to slightly underestimate most creatures of fables. They were legendary to weaker mages or mortals without magic, though when it came to wizards of her caliber, they were simply strong beings on par with great magicians.

    In most cases, that was.
    The Bakedanuki flew to the island in the form of albatross, finding the strong and large water bird better for flying great distances than her preferred travel form of a pink jay. Her pet refused to fly alongside her in the shape of a bird, however, and took the shape of a small silver band around the albatross’ left leg. Before long, the two would land on the beach, having already taken notice of the armored being who had reached the island before them. The scent and sight was a familiar one, and plunged Izayuki into a moment of nostalgia. Aiyana had saved her life, and was a pleasure to see again. For the first time, she would go on a job with the vixen, like her husband had on many occasions before her.

    ~~~
    It had been at least thirty hours since Izayuki had seen the light of day, or even the world at all. Her body lied comatose, knocked unconscious after her ordeal. After her long slumber, the canine slowly began to open her blurry pink eyes, while she heard a voice murmuring softly, having yet to process it. She finally came to after hearing her name mentioned in the sentence of a feminine voice. As her senses returned, she recognized the comforting cushion of pillows and blankets upon a bed. Her sense of smell came back, and she took in the sweet whiffs of fruit, nuts, and dried meat, as well as the scent of fox nearby.
    Slowly turning her aching head, the silver-furred raccoon dog gazed up at the dark-haired vixen, in a humanoid form, yet with prominent canine ears and fluffy tails- nine of them. Was this Aiyana, the woman whom Elyx had described to her, as one who had helped him in battle while out on his strenuous jobs? Her appearance fit the description her husband had given her. The tiny tanuki attempted to push herself up to her paws, hoping the padding of the bed would help, only to find the strength in her legs leave her, making her fall back onto the pillow again. Where was this place?
    The last thing she remembered was a chilly and nasty dungeon, though not one she could see. Only the cold ground and the stony, deathly smell told her what it was, confirmed by a stranger who just so happened upon her. It was that stranger who had done something, and thus her memories of old began to charge her mind and emotions, leading her to transform into a beast. That was it… she had destroyed the House of Lost Souls, had cursed the land, and killed many Onymoji and possibly innocent yokai. A foul deed, and yet here she was, surrounded by food and comfort and a tender voice.
    Was she in heaven?
    Perhaps Wizard Saint had its benefits, and she would not end up burning in hell for her sins, past and present. Still, everything felt far too real, and the pain from before had decreased significantly, but remained nevertheless, as her head still throbbed and the memories of terror rang in her mind. She tried to open her mouth to speak to the vixen who had supposedly saved her life and brought her here, only to find her body still too weak to even muster words correctly. Instead, the only sound to issue from her mouth was a low whimper in reply to the one who had spoken so tenderly.
    Fortunately, she felt no desperation to return to her guild again, or to Elyx. He had hidden himself from her, leaving her with nothing but a key, which had greatly confused the tanuki. On that topic… where was all her equipment, that had been scattered upon her reverting from monster to raccoon dog? Pink eyes glanced around hesitantly, scanning the room in search of her prized possessions-- most of them in the humble form of necklaces, amulets, rings, keys, a toothpick, paper fan, and a perfect-condition leaf. Did this lovely fox gather up the objects, or leave them? If left behind, she would unfortunately be forced to make her way back to the land she had cursed to retrieve them, while quietly hoping they had not been stolen or hidden.
    In silence, the tanuki rearranged herself to a more comfortable position after her soft, tiny fall. She was pathetic in the eyes of this person, though for the first time, she did not mind that for now. The Bakedanuki was simply too tired and weak to care.
    ~~~

    “Hello, Aiyana~” the Wizard Saint said cheerily, transforming into her semi-human form again, with only her prominent fluffy ears and tail left to prove her Bakedanuki identity. Seika transformed into a silver band to be worn as a bracelet on the tanuki girl’s wrist, having no desire to present herself just yet.

    The wait on the island for the third person was a long one, or at least it felt like it was for Aiyana Shuer of Lamia Scale. After about a half hour the man that had come up to him, whom she found out was wanted for quite the list of crimes here in Fiore, had gotten impatient and ditched her here to wait along for the third person that was supposed to tag along. Ah well, rather than wait and find another person the nine tailed fox celestial spirit would simply wait for the other and they would get the job done on their own. It was not like they had time, after all. There was a massive monster about to run through and destroy an entire city without remorse. There was no way to pause, to tell the monster to wait, while they scoured Fiore and Earthland for another magical user to help them in taking the beast down. Aiyana's ruby armor shimmered and shone as light reflected off of it in a red sheen. The beautiful armor was form fitting and allowed her to remain comfortable until what appeared to be an albatross landed before her and shifted back into a form that was much more familiar; Izayuki. A pink bird would follow behind, only to become a silver bracelet upon the woman's wrist. It must have been a pet, or guardian, of some kind. Maybe it was like the shadow fairy that Aiyana had hidden in her shadow. The creature was powerful, yet shy, and would remain hidden until she was needed or absolutely had to intervene.

    ~~~
    The silver tanuki that she had found was still out like a light in her bed. The blankets on top of the creature were thin but warm, and the swarm of pillows under and around the little fox dog were enough to fight off a small army if one were to throw them hard enough. The king size bed only had the one occupant, Aiyana choosing to sit in a small chair she had pulled up to watch the being sleep to make sure it stayed breathing and safe. If she was correct in her thoughts, this little being was really the Guild Master of Black Rose; Izayuki Hyoujin. Not only that, she was also the supposed wife of her good friend Elyx; a man that Aiyana had gone on a couple jobs with. Izayuki had summoned her using the celestial key that was contracted to Elyx or one he gave it to, and upon arriving she had found destruction. The place she had been drawn to had the tanuki, plenty of items that were clearly Izayuki's or others that had dropped it, and a single monster that had apparently been made of paper.
    Aiyana had grabbed everything that did not look like rubble, the items put up on a shelf for safe keeping, and after that had taken the girl home and then did the best she could do to nurture the woman back to health. It had been thirty hours, thirty worry filled hours of healing a small being that was unconscious on her bed before Iza finally showed any form of life besides basic functions. "Good morning sweetie, it's been a while. Just take your time, all right?" The tanuki would try to move, failing utterly, and give a whimper when it was clear that was not the attempt to use vocal cords was intended to do. A smile went across Aiyana's face as she set a hand to softly pet her. She was not afraid of being bit right now. There would be no way that something so exhausted would be quick enough to nip at her before she could react in time.
    ~~~

    "Good to see you again Iza. Shame it had to be under such circumstances." The girl was cute. Such a shame she was spoken for and all. "Sadly our third person went off without us. Not sure they will be participating, but there's no time for anyone else so we will be alone on this one. Aiyana would pat her mask that was on her waist at the moment. If needed she could don it and allow the two of them to talk telepathically. If the Storm King could do as was told they would likely need it to be able to hear each other at all, given how loud thunder was and the ears the two of them had. "Anything you wanted to plan out before we get going? Or shall we just go in and try to save the day on a whim?" It was a good question to ask with the two of them. Aiyana was not the best at making plans, which was apparent to anyone that had ever spent a day with her, and Izayuki was a known trickster so she surely did not always go in with a solid plan.

    Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ H Rank

    Her sense of smell was the first thing to begin strengthening after the immense stress. Though she could not speak, the scent of food and a clean room was comforting. Definitely heaven.
    Though finally, she could smell her own scent in the room coming from a shelf; likely her equipment pieces. For that, the silver raccoon dog felt much relief, happy that she would not have to return to that wretched and now cursed place to find them. Hopefully all of her trinkets were present; if not, it would be a good while before she dare venture back to the now demolished house of lost souls.

    For now, the soothing voice of Aiyana helped the tanuki to relax further. The last thing Izayuki intended to do was nip at the fox woman who apparently had saved her. Her mind was clear enough to put two and two together. Besides, she had little energy to apply any force in a nip. She accepted the calming hand stroking her fur, and adjusted her head to avoid the lady reaching her ears, a sensitive area she refused to have touched. If they were, she would attempt a light scratch with her claws or a gentle warning bite, though it was highly unlikely she would have the energy to completely follow through with such a deed.

    Despite her remaining exhaustion and lack of any sort of energy, Izayuki could not bring herself to sleep any longer. Her mind was racing to recollect what had happened, even though a part of her did not want to recall the horrid tragedy that had befallen more than a day ago. Though how long had she been asleep? She could scarcely tell.
    In silence, the silver-furred tanuki rested quietly, eyes half closed while Aiyana’s stroking of her fur continued to calm her. She wanted to speak, and to question, though could just barely form words in her current state. The word she would dare to speak had to be picked carefully, among the many things she wanted to say.

    “Thank you,” she murmured in a hushed, subdued, and slightly hoarse voice. The words were sincere, though breathed out in a quiet whisper, her body simply unable to project her tone any further.

    ~~~
    Seeing the fox woman under circumstances that had to do with higher ranking jobs was not any misfortune, in Izayuki’s eyes. The job would be difficult, though there was no doubt in the impulsive tanuki’s mind that they could not get it done. Ever since the incident that had taken place in the House of Lost Souls, she had noticed a significant increase in her own power. However, if it had not been for Aiyana, she likely would have not survived to notice the growth in her magic that had taken place. Technically, she owed the fox her life, for coming to her aid and delivering her from the cursed land, even though her summon with the key had been so weakly performed.
    “Really? That’s too bad~” she said in a casual tone, after nodding in response to the first greeting. It was a shame to hear that their other partner had left them, who likely was a far more impulsive individual than the Bakedanuki. Aiyana offered to make plans, though the guildmaster of Black Rose truly preferred improvising. The art of planning was not foreign to her, just not as fun, in this case. Despite having flown over the sea, she was energized and ready to get going, thus in no mood to stand around and strategize. “Let’s save the day on a whim, shall we? Planning to fight a storm seems boring as hell; we can improvise once we meet it,” Izayuki answered, a playful smile on her face.
    Izayuki definitely seemed like she could use another few days of rest before she went anywhere.
    The barely audible thanks given to Aiyana were greatly appreciated, the nine-tailed fox understood that sometimes words were all that could be given at times, even if they were simply barely whispered. Her hearing, the fox ears being the main reason, was quite good and thus the words were easily heard as the two words came out nearly silent and hoarsely. The petting would never cease, not until she was told to stop or it became clear that the woman in Tanuki form began to get aggressive over it for some reason. Even then she might continue on. With how tired and weak she was at this time there was little threat to the celestial spirit, not that much could really threaten her own personal life. It would take threatening her family, of which she barely had any, and friends,
    which she had nearly a limitless amount. Almost every one of the people that could be threatened were mages or knew something to protect themselves on their own so she had no worries about anything currently. At least, that was how it was now.
    When Pharoah's Call was still around she had met two woman that were of her race, the Terran, and they had been killed in what was a bloody assassination attempt to kill the woman that was now soothing the female in her bed. They had been the only ones of her race that she had met since learning that she was not the same race as the base ones of Fiore. There were others, she knew, but she had to go through the Wakusei portals and hope that rumors and tales could lead her to them. They could tell who she was based on her soul, but she would have no clue until they revealed themselves. There was one rumor to go on, and she would likely go there in the future, but, for now, she wanted to help this girl out and do a few jobs for Lamia Scale before she disappeared from the planet of Fiore on a personal quest of her own.
    ~~~~

    So It seemed that the Tanuki wished to ad lib the plan after they got to the beast. Well, Aiyana Shuer was pretty good a winging it too. She wasn't known for strong planning and leadership skills, she was known for the fun and pleasure laced course. Winging it sounded fun, though seemed like something dangerous right now. A shrug would be all Aiyana made in response to it, seeing that there would be no sense in arguing, but she had no fear of dying. The guild master of Black Rose was unlikely to die as well, so it was now an improv job from here on. "All right, improv it is. Shall we get going and see what this cutie looks like? Rumors might be off, so let's hope it is not some giant blubbery whale. I've seen enough people like that, I don't want to fight one too." Playful smile would meet playful as she awaited to see how Iza wanted to move on from here. Aiyana could simply teleport, or turn into the Raven with her weapon Nevermore, and could even just shapeshift into something else to get around. It was up to this girl she had saved previously on what she did.

    Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ H Rank

    It took a good amount of strength to pet a small, soft animal continuously. However, it seemed that Aiyana had strength and a rhythm that would never cease, and the strokes continued to calm the once battered and bruised and traumatized eastern raccoon dog. Even if her sensitive and typically off-limits ears had been touched a few times, the Bakedanuki had no strength to resist or move or request that they be avoided. Instead, she quietly accepted that this was some sort of heaven as she dozed off into sleep once again, still too weak to talk or take any kind of action, even if it was moving herself or shifting her weight.

    ~~~
    Izayuki chortled at the words of Aiyana, an amusing start to a potentially dangerous endeavor. If the Storm King was anything like Zeus, the god slayer had it covered. If they were anything else, however, there could possibly be a problem. Would a storm find darkness-infused ice and frostfire a challenge, or something easy to overcome? Fortunately for the fox and the tanuki, they would have other tricks up their sleeve. At the very least, Izayuki knew that she would, and based on her husband’s past talk, Aiyana would as well. “I sure hope it’s not something too blubbery or gross. I wouldn’t mind if it were fluffy, though~” Izayuki replied with a lighthearted giggle. If the beast were to be fluffy, they might not even need to fight it. They could pet it and entice it to not hit the principality of Veronica with gentle hands alone. “Let’s fly, shall we?”
    Knowing they would have to travel again, Izayuki chose the fun way of moving from one place to another. Teleportation was an option, but for the tanuki, the majority of her movement abilities and spells had the range of a short distance, and using too many at once would only be annoying. As a result of not wanting to take the easy way out, the Bakedanuki picked the next best option. Leaping into the air, the ayakashi gracefully shapeshifted back into the form of a pink-feathered jay, which was a shape used as her preferred form of travel. She had approached the island in the shape of an albatross, but only because the waters over the sea would prove powerful, and tire out her wings without the extra natural strength of the water bird. Now that they were over land, Izayuki could travel around in the quick and loud form of a jay bird, which was closely related to crows, magpies, and ravens.
    Izayuki could not remember when she first started using the dazzling colored bird for her travel form. She fondly recalled using it to attend a training spar at one point with another Black Rose member. She had been a new member to the guild, while the one to train her was none other than an Ace. The young Bakedanuki at the time had arrived to the sparring location in the form of a pink jay and had eagerly landed on the head of the Ace of Leaves, wishing to playfully surprise him. In response, however, she had startled their companion, a fiery, feisty human-formed phoenix. As soon as the pink jay landed on the head of the ace, the phoenix launched fire at her. Luckily, the fire had been swiftly dodged, but left the poor ace to take the full brunt of the flamed attack. Nevertheless, it had been a fun scene and a joyful day. Despite losing a hair ribbon the ace in a fury of wind magic, which the ace would later be expected to replace, the spar had ended in a draw. At least on her side, she had learned from it. Hopefully, the ace had done the same. Unfortunately, the memory was far behind her and reliving it did not make much difference in her mood or the present.
    Assumably, Aiyana would be flying alongside the pink corvid in an avian form as they sought out their target-- the entire reason they were there on Crescent Island. The rumors certainly were something to behold. The title was enough to shake fear into anyone who was not confident in their abilities. Izayuki did expect something of a challenge-- she knew better than to underestimate any sort of opponent, regardless of their reputation. This one was said to be docile and relatively peaceful, but when it came down to it, who was to judge? The observer, or the one actually dealing with the monster?
    Before the flying yokai could think too much about their quarry anymore or engage Aiyana in further conversation, a powerful wind pounded against her once-strong wings from the higher skies. In a twirl of violent wings much stronger than her own body, the pink jay was tossed back down to the ground of the island, miserably flapping to no avail. The wind tore at her tail feathers, which made ruddering and staying in the air impossible, and her wings were useless against the vigorous torrent of wind.
    Within seconds, the bird would be close to landing on the ground. Before she could hit it, the mononoke transformed her shape once again, finding herself a small silver-furred tanuki that the nine tailed fox would recognize. After all, Aiyana had discovered her in this form and had saved her from certain death in the cursed lands, specifically, the lands that she had cursed. Izayuki knew that she was much stronger in her true form, and was not about to let gravity break her hollow bird bones and leave her favorite form of travel rather useless and out of service for a good while.
    The Storm King was coming.
    Skies overhead swirled with furious dark clouds, which drew close to an ominous shape in the distance that only moved closer to the island. Every drop of sunlight had left the skies as far as keen eyes could see, as clouds and eerie mists coated the once fresh and open space around the beautiful, crescent shaped island. The flapping of wings could be heard, slow and methodical, but powerful and daunting the closer the monster flew. Per beat of its mighty wings, thunder rolled itself through the waves of sound in the atmosphere, before it would finally crash on the sensitive ears of the fox and the tanuki.
    Crimson eyes opened slowly, with the tiny obake dazed from her long tumble down from the skies and back to earth. The world spun for a few seconds, and her vision blurred as she tried to stand up on the damp earth. The air had grown slightly colder, and this time, it was not from her glacial magic. Standing on all four paws, the silver-furred raccoon dog gazed up at the skies, her vision sharpening once more and no longer blurry. As she did so, raindrops began to fall, with a light misty sprinkle at first, followed by a few slow raindrops here and there.
    After a few more seconds, the small drizzle would evolve to a full downpour, with the clouds bursting open to release their cold and wet contents. Once again, it would be hard to see more than a few good meters in front of one. However, one thing was very apparent-- there was the figure of an enormous beast drawing closer and closer to the island, gaining speed as he drew atmospheric pressure to himself. The monster had the form of a dragon, though judging from the scent and magical presence, it was anything but a mythical reptile. Its body was made of black clouds, constantly being charged with negative and positive static electricity. Periodically, the electricity would jump, with a negative charge jumping to meet and embrace a positive charge from the earth below, with a step leader as the guide. Often times, what the fierce lightning would meet was a tree or narrow, tall rock. At other times, the charge jumped to meet another cloud. If neither would make a suitable match for the charge, it would head straight to the solid ground in one long and dazzling suicide jump-- true cloud to ground lightning.
    The beast itself seemed rather unaware of the charges within its body. After all, they were only natural. It as familiar to the beast as one’s own skin or hands or hair would be to them. The one who had written and delivered the mission to the guilds was right in the fact that it seemed relatively peaceful, but due to its nature, only brought destruction with the torrential rain, hurricane level speed, deafening thunder, massive hail storms, deluging floods, and deadly lightning. The creature likely meant no harm, but its very existence sought to harm the innocent landscape it flew over.
    On the edges of its wings, wall clouds would circulate in a dizzying downdraft, only for the end result to bring a tornado to the ground as its final product. The tornado was like the finger of god itself, for anything it was torn across would meet ruin and certain death. The spiraling winds were like a shredder, grinding anything and everything in its paths. With two of them ripping through the land, the principality of Veronica would meet certain demise, even without the floods and lightning. The cyclones would start over the ocean as waterspouts, drinking up the salty ocean water before reaching land, where fish, sharks, and various objects and beings of the sea would be dropped.
    Upon seeing the Storm King, Izayuki finally had an idea of what they were up against. Peaceful or not, the very presence of this monster was something to strike fear into anyone. Its existence would only bring ruin to all who called earthland their home. It would need to be stopped, and if possible, destroyed before it could unleash its wrath on anyone else. Fortunately, Crescent Island was mostly abandoned, desolate of civilization. It was vacant of all except for the natural wildlife, the flora and fauna that knew nothing other than their peaceful little island. If they could, they would have to stop the Storm King from ruining the quiet, tranquil, and tiny scrap of earth.
    Changing her form again to at least be more nimble, and less clumsy, the Bakedanuki assumed her mostly human form, and leaped up from the pit of land she had fallen into up onto a mound of boulders, which was the preferred higher ground. She gazed up with narrowed eyes at the giant figure, fighting for vision through the blinding rain and brilliant flashes of lightning.
    “Well, it’s not a giant blubbery whale. Come on, Aiyana, let’s--” her words were cut off as the draconic figured king would part its jaws and release a deafening roar, which sounded like an explosion of thunder. Many had heard lightning strike at close range, and had been figuratively blown away by the booming noise of the thunder to quickly follow. However, the vehement bellow of the Storm King was a sound that few had ever heard, or would ever hear. It was louder than any type of thunder or close range explosion one could hear, almost to the point of being literally deafening.
    After enough exposure, Izayuki had outgrown her astraphobia. Her fear of thunder made fighting during a storm, or fighting a lightning or thunder mage, extremely hard. Her sensitive ears did not warrant her to fair well in such circumstances, and for a while, the small tanuki actively avoided training or meeting enemies which used such magic, refused jobs where one would fight mages that used sound or thunder or loud lightning, and would ultimately hide and cry during a thunderstorm at home. Eventually, she had outgrown the fear and instead grew desensitized to the loud noises, to the point where she even dared to accept the one hundred year job of taking on the Storm King. However, with one mighty roar, time would be seemingly reversed, and Izayuki would quickly fall back into her astraphobia once more.
    Crouching down, the Bakedanuki would force her hands over her silver-furred tanuki ears, and a low canine whimper would rise from the back of her throat. She had accepted the job because she had gotten over her fear, but never before did she realize there could be such an evil sound of this caliber. Her eyes partially teary and her heart racing, the Bakedanuki wrapped her silver tail around herself, praying to whatever benevolent deities were out there that somehow this was all just a good dream turned to a nightmare. That none of this was reality-- there was no monster the H rank would have to fight and possibly kill. For the moment, she had forgotten that Aiyana was with her, and instead caved into her own fears and weaknesses as the roar of the Storm King concluded, only to be followed by another, which issued a small cry from the scared and quivering tanuki.
    If only benevolent deities existed.
    So it seemed that the small creature that was Izayuki would drift off into sleep instead of putting up a fight about being pet. Either she was still much to weak to bother or was content with it. Either worked for Aiyana, she really did not have any personal boundaries and this was less than heavy petting. Even asleep Aiyana would continue petting, eventually leading to a full underbelly petting that would have made the day of any pet that welcomed it. Did Iza welcome it? Would she even notice with her being asleep already? Maybe sleep Izayuki would welcome the sleepy time scritch scratches! Either way the nine tailed fox would stop shortly after and proceed to do whatever she needed to do for the rest of the day. Maybe she would go buy some more food, something more appealing for both of them so she could enjoy a meal with the other woman once she was healed. Then maybe they could discuss other things, or maybe Izayuki would simply give her thanks and run off. Nothing was sure, but she would definitely find out once the tiny creature rested fully and healed up.
    ~~~

    It was clear that Izayuki found her words amusing for what they were about to get into, and after commenting on it she would mention them flying there before she shapeshifted into a jay bird. Knowing she would be left behind if she did not do so in kind, and not wanting to beat her there by use of her celestial spirit realm movement that she could easily pull on her, the nine-tailed fox would shapeshift herself into a mockingbird so that she could fly alongside her. It also meant she could make random bird calls and get away with it as that was normal to hear with a mockingbird flying about. Trolling other animals that might be in the area, and Izayuki if she did not know the animal well enough herself.

    It would not be much longer before they hit a wall, literally, that was made of wind. Aiyana, her armor meant to stop knockbacks and the like, was able to control her flight even though Iza fell like a rock. Unable to dive down fast enough to catch her, the Lamia Scale mage would divebomb to fly down and make sure everything was okay and heal her if she managed to get hurt. Luckily the tanuki was able to shift into a more durable form before hitting the ground, a good thing when they had not even gotten to the behemoth yet. Landing on the ground next to her keyholder, Aiyana would shift back into her normal form even though Iza was still in tanuki form when she did so. Before she could really ask anything about her being all right they would both see the clouds and weather tell them that the Storm King was upon them. The beauty of the creature would be marvelous until the sudden deafening sound of it erupted inside of their ears. Aiyana would wince and shapeshift herself into a form that has a not so good sense of hearing, which meant she had dulled hearing and would be able to function inside the immensely loud area they were now going to be fighting within. After the two recovered, the rain would begin that would end up causing them to be the wettest either had been today so far. It was clear that the being they could see when they looked out in the sky was the Storm King, and it was definitely not something that could be described as ugly. Floofy was a good one, as it was like looking at a batch of clouds that took the form of a dragon, and was it not for the terrible weather and loud noises she would have gladly taken home this thing as a pet.

    The massive roar would not affect Aiyana, having shapeshifted her body to have terrible hearing, but it was clear that it had hurt the Black Rose Guildmaster more than a little bit. The other woman's words about it not being a giant blubbery whale, and something else after that, was cut off mid-sentence as the Storm King released a roar that even the nine-tailed fox could hear clearly. Aiyana would be put into a battle stance, ready to charge in and teleport up, but one look at Iza would tell her that she was down for the count out of fear. Had it been the noise? Or maybe it was the lightning? Was she afraid of something that had happened? Surely it was not cause of the beast itself being too powerful, that would not make sense given she was considered a higher rank than Aiyana Shuer herself, so it had to be something about what had just happened. Remembering that her touch had been used to keep her calm when in tanuki form, Aiyana tried a gamble in the hopes that she could get through to the quivering, crying, woman. A hand would reach out and pat the head of her current job partner, fingers finding bits of ear to caress while also rubbing atop her shaking hands. Using the mask, Aiyana would begin to speak with her telepathically. "There there, Iza. It'll be all right. Can you shapeshift to reduce your hearing, or eliminate it completely? If you can we can speak using the power of my mask I have on me, like I am doing now. That way you don't have to hear the beast while we fight and we will still hear each other. If you can't I'll go on ahead and you can sit back. I won't judge you if you can't do this, I won't tell anyone either. But I believe in you, you can do this, and I would love to have you join me, all right?" The woman would speak directly into her mind, softly so that it sounded calm and sweet, as she continued the soft petting of her ears and head to try and calm her a bit. They did not have much time left before the Storm King would set upon the place they needed to stop it from destroying, and thus keep them from being rewarded for this job. Hopefully, Iza could pull through, it would be a shame to embarrass her like this if she could not get over her fears.

    Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ H Rank

    Over the loud roaring of the Storm King, Izayuki contemplated the sudden reversal of her progress regarding the astraphobia. So quickly the monster brought her to her knees, without even touching or attacking her. Though it was peaceful in general, it still was on the course for destroying a city in its way, which was why the mages had been hired to either redirect its course or kill it off.

    At the rate it was going however, progress was far from present. Though she covered her silver-furred ears with her hands, the sound vibrated through the air, shaking her whole body and penetrating her attempt at muffling the noise. Even though she had grown used to normal thunder, the roar of the king was something else entirely, and as it continued its proud bellows, Izayuki was left unable to move.

    It was then that a gentle hand would be placed on the Bakedanuki’s head, and a telepathic voice would enter her mind. Telepathy typically only was something Izayuki associated with negative things. The spirits of her second magic, Wonderland, would only torment the young ayakashi with their voices, attempting to induce madness and take control of her mind. However, Aiyana’s voice was not sinister or cruel like their’s often were. Instead, the voice was gentle and merciful, a soothing distraction from the vociferous, roaring thunder.

    Izayuki mentally listened, and considered her words. It was tempting to recoil and hide in some way or fashion, and allow Aiyana to finish their job. However, such a thing was unthinkable for the Bakedanuki to accept. Even if Aiyana would assist in hiding her shame, and would keep the secret, it seemed wrong and unfair to leave a partner to the dangerous combat to come. One Hundred Year jobs ideally required more than one mage to see a successful outcome. While she had no doubt in Aiyana’s skills and talents, she did not want to leave a friend to possibly getting beaten and battered more than she had to. Meanwhile, the stroking of her ears unfortunately did put the Bakedanuki more on edge, as she flinched away slightly. It was not that she was rejecting the fox’s kindness-- she simply did not have much tolerance for her ears being touched, unless it was unable to be helped.

    While Izayuki accepted the kind telepathic words, there was only one small problem. While she had a large repertoire of shapes and forms, as did most shapeshifting raccoon dogs, she had little direct control over the traits of the forms. Though all her senses were much more keen in her true form, all of her shapes shared in keen tanuki, and slayer, senses. No form, even a species with bad hearing, would really change that for the Bakedanuki. However, she was determined to not leave her partner to fight the monster alone. Instead of shapeshifting, the ayakashi would attempt something else. She was skilled in perception manipulation-- the use of illusions to trick and deceive. Upon using them normally, she was aware of what she had manipulated or created to fool the senses, but was not directly affected by her own ability.

    What if she could be influenced by her own illusions though? It was worth a try, if it meant continuing in this job. Focusing her ability on herself, instead of the surrounding atmosphere, Izayuki attempted to generate the sound of silence-- the perception that all was still and quiet, not threatening. Slowly but surely, her attempt was working, as the air seemed to grow much more peaceful and calm, at least for herself. How long could she keep this up? Only time would tell. "T-thank you, Aiyana,” she warmly and gratefully attempted to telepathically project back, slowly beginning to stand again. “I used an illusion on myself to perceive and feel the noise as if there is none. I don’t know how long I can keep it up, so let’s finish this beast off quickly.”

    The ayakashi turned towards the direction the Storm King was flying in. She adjusted her illusions to ensure that she could not even physically feel the vibrations of his thunderous roars. This took energy, but hopefully the two could wipe their hands of this job before too much time had passed. How much ice and cold energy would it take to simply freeze this beast? He was primarily water moisture, turbulent winds and temperatures, and electricity, after all.

    Taking a few steps in front of Aiyana, Izayuki would gaze directly at the approaching beast of storms’ face. Taking a large inhale of magic and frosty energy, the Glacier God Slayer would attempt to use one of her trademark attacks, recognizable across all types of slayers. “Glacier God’s Bellow!”
    Out of her mouth she would launch a whirlwind of frosty energy and ice, spouting towards the beast at devastating speeds. The radius of the blast would reach up to three hundred meters, and would continue on for four hundred meters, hopefully meeting the storm king squarely in the face. If her attack was successful, it would slow him down a little, hopefully enough to give them an advantage and stop his advance towards the principality of Veronica.

    Would Iza be able to get herself out of the rock and hard place she was currently stuck in? The small form she was in shook like it was a vibrating machine rather than something alive, and it was a wonder that the female was able to keep shaking like that without tiring herself out completely. When she noticed the guild master of Black Rose flinch at her touch she would move her hand from ears to more gently stroke across the face instead. Aiyana Shuer was not trying to put her more on edge or anything, quite the opposite really. It seemed like it would last a lifetime as she waited for the bakedanuki to respond to what she had said to her, using the telepathic link she had opened up between them with the mask she had on her person. After thanking the Wizard Saint from Lamia Scale, the Wizard Saint from Black Rose would explain that she had somehow used her own illusions from her magic to make herself deaf in a sense. She seemed unsure as to how long she would be able to hold on, and that meant they had to put out a rush order on taking down this behemoth of a moving storm. "All right Iza! Glad to have you back and able to help me with this. If the illusion ends just go, I don't want to see you get hurt. Okay?" That would be all the nine tailed fox would send her job partner's way before she noticed what Izayuki was preparing to do. Wanting to move with it, the Celestial Spirit would go off in a sprint before the glacier god's bellow was announced and spewn out. Being out in front of the ice users magic would cause part of it near Aiyana turn into frostfire, which would then be eaten for her as she grew herself wings and flew towards the cloud beast so that she could get close enough to begin dropping spells of her own. Most of her magic was meant for close range, meaning she would need to get closer than Izayuki would ever find comfortable with this thing.

    There was a slight problem with this creature, one that she realized only after she got within fifty meters of the earth changing monster. The sheer wind power, the air pressure, the water pouring out, and the lightning shooting out from it made almost a perfect defense screen from anything getting too close to really deal a lot of damage to it. Luckily she had her armor with her, which kept her from losing her balance due to any of these things. She would have to find whoever crafted the armor and thank them after this, maybe even try and help them with advertising using herself and the modeling expertise she had due to the Sorcerer's Magazine modeling she had done a few times now. Even so, pushing through with flight started to be troublesome, which was why she used her longest moving offensive teleport spells to show up on the beast while also releasing a burst of frostfire that would chill and burn the storm king all at once. The rush of magical energy she felt because of it was a rush, the monster held a lot more magic in it than she had ever drained from a single person before. Why it did not let her transform into a dragon was beyond her, maybe it was just a more powerful magic and not just more in comparison to what she normally siphoned from those hit by her spells. In an attempt to freeze the apocalyptic enemy in place, Aiyana would lift both of her hands into the sky towards the direction they were moving. The diamond shape made with her hands would shoot out a bright pillar of ice along their current path that would make it look like it was beginning to snow. What seemed like just simple snow was, in fact, something much more dangerous. Even one touch from the snow, on anyone other than Aiyana, would cause the snowflake to turn into a large flower of frostfire. The burning ice was meant for trapping anyone of the normal heights and weights, however, and was not likely to actually cause the storm king anything but a hindrance. Slowing it down was something she wanted, given the short time limit they were on, and the more she could hinder this thing while they fought it would give them that much more time to try and eliminate it completely.

    "Normally I am the one to advocate for a method that does not lead to the death of another, but for this thing I might have to make an exception. Something this powerful being able to just move where it wishes is too dangerous, and there is no way to capture something this large and remove it from being a threat while it is still living. I'll do everything I can to freeze it. Let's try not to make it suffer any more than we have to." The words would reach across through their linked minds even as she pointed into the body of the creature and shot out a large beam of frostfire from her fingertips. Each hit from her magic flooded her with even more magic power from the storm king, which meant soon she would be the frostfire dragon form that she had gotten used to since receiving the lacrima that had given her these powers. Once she hit that point she would be able to freely use any of the spells she had on hand, which meant she could go all out without worry of knocking herself out of the fight in the process. If they were lucky they could even chill the problem monster enough to make it start creating a snow storm, and with the magic within it that meant Izayuki would also be able to try and reach the mythical force everyone remembered slayers for. "This might not be too hard after all." The single thought would be followed by her nearly being struck by lightning, something that made her proverbial heart skip a beat as she nearly leapt out of her skin even as she did a small teleport to a different spot on the giant beast. The sooner they could get rid of this thing the better, it was really getting her on edge in a bad way.

    Post by Guest 21st June 2018, 5:53 pm

    Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ H Rank

    The Bakedanuki nodded in response to Aiyana’s telepathy, even though she personally knew that she would force herself beyond comfort if she could help it, even if the illusion fizzled out. The nine tailed fox went out in front of Izayuki, suddenly sprouting wings and flying towards the monstrous storm. At first, the slayer was worried for the vixen, her first thought being that her partner would get caught in the god bellow. However, her fears were quickly relieved when she recalled Aiyana’s own element-- frostfire. The other slayer consumed a portion of Izayuki’s spell, and continued moving on to attack the beast.

    Meanwhile, part of the glacier god slayer’s attack would hit the king of storms. Normally, such an attack with her strength would have been devastating, but to the gargantuan storm, it did not faze him. It slowed a portion of his body, making the clouds almost appear to delay in keeping up with the beat by a few split seconds. Before Izayuki could continue to produce another attack, Aiyana’s voice sounded in her mind once again. It struck the Bakedanuki as curious, the fact that the fox was against killing, but was making an exception for the storm.

    The tanuki herself was quite accustomed to killing. Of course, she did not do so in cold blood or with the intent to murder. Typically, she gave someone plenty of warning, and allowed them to make the decision as to if they would continue attacking or not. If they did, she would not hesitate to kill them, not so much intentionally, but simply by not holding back on her attacks nor pulling her punches. She attempted to make most kills quickly, out of basic canine instinct. Slice a vital artery or vein with a claw, slice off something mandatory, the list for fast killing went on. But how would one kill a storm quickly? Freezing it was certainly possible, but would her powers and Aiyana’s powers really be able to freeze something this huge?

    Had her mentor of old been able to kill something of this caliber? The yokai so easily assumed that the glacier goddess was omnipotent and invincible in her craft, capable of bringing the greatest of those alive to their knees via her terrible frost. However, as the tanuki looked back on those memories, she did indeed begin to question. Where did she currently stand in power when it came to Yukionna? The yokai had given up her quest for revenge a while ago, but the goddess herself seemed to no longer be targeting the slayer. The deity of ice was as silent as the snow she created, and that fact alone did bring questions to Izayuki’s mind. She could not help but wonder what had happened to her harsh teacher and horrible adoptive mother.

    However, such things could not be mused on for too long with the Storm King before her. If this beast was a god, it would make her job a lot easier. It had the shape of a draconic beast, but was it really vulnerable to the dragon slayer magic of the celestial spirit? Izayuki was dubious. Regardless of its strengths and weaknesses, she would try her best to bring it down. “Alright,” she agreed, before mustering even more magical energy.

    Taking flight without wings, as per a general mythical mononoke ability, she would attempt to draw closer to the cloudy beast, while still deceiving herself with the audible illusion. “Tōyōmichi,” she murmured the name of her spell, finding the fact that talking while unable to hear herself was odd, uncomfortable, and quite unnerving overall. It felt weird, but Izayuki had no doubt that the spell would be cast just as she planned. As soon as her unheard words left her mouth, snow began to fall from the heavens above. It covered four hundred meters in radius, thus eight hundred meters in diameter, surely covering a lot of the beast. As the soft and gentle snow fell, it would begin to lull all within its perimeter to sleep. All the hiding critters on the island below, and all the creatures swimming beneath the surface of the sea, would be falling into a calm and peaceful sleep. ‘Winter Wonderland’ was a spell of H rank power-- the strongest one in her arsenal. For this fight, it was go big or go home.

    Izayuki doubted that Aiyana would so easily be put to sleep. Surely she would eat the majority of the snowflakes that fell towards her, and with the high rank power in them, grow in strength for the time being. The peaceful winterscape would begin to show its deadlier, true colors, though. It would begin to drain and absorb the life from those around it, just as the cold would drain and absorb heat from anything it could. It would do this to the Storm King, and Izayuki could only pray to whatever benevolent beings were out there, or even Yukionna, as this had to do with the magic of the glaciers, that it would be successful. She wanted the Storm King to sleep, to die, or to, at the very least, slow down, stop, and smell the roses.

    The combined hits from the two shapeshifting mages had done little more than anger the storm beast so far. The roar that was released, the same roars that Izayuki could never hear because of how she had set up her own illusions upon herself, made Aiyana's head spin even with the severely reduced hearing she had given herself. Because of it, she would simply make herself deaf for the time being as it would make things that much easier. There was no way a normal hearing being could have gotten close enough to this massive cloud beast to be able to do any lasting damage. Aiyana and Izayuki were proving to be useful for this, even if one of them was only deafened in an illusory way to keep them from being too scared to fight, as the frostfire and ice mages let loose powerful spells one after another. The fighting would seem stale to those that might be watching this from far away. It was mostly her dodging aggressive weather and lightning strikes even as she tried to freeze bits of the creature while using her own spells alongside physical strikes to try and find any type of non-cloud part to the body. The clouds were thick enough to stand upon but other than that they did not seem to care much about any type of physical attack. The fight would go in relative silence as the nine-tailed fox did her best to magically disintegrate this beast even as they tried to slow it down completely.

    Much to Aiyana's surprise, as one of the snowflakes touched her, the celestial spirit that had been feeling fine moments prior would suddenly feel a rush of sleepiness entered her mind. A shake of her head and a little bit more of adrenaline from combat would help her overcome it enough to realize it was most definitely not the snow from her magic. Had Iza sent in her own snow as well? The answer was made pretty obvious as she looked up, the blizzard coming down was not something that was done with just a spell that she had done. It could not be from the Storm King, it seemed he had weather control but only within reason for the area around them, and the only other person around was the wizard saint she was working with. Taking advantage of the magical snow, Aiyana Shuer would gobble up the magic as she felt her body finally hit the point she wanted. The body of the celestial spirit would contort and grow larger until she would finally take the form of the dragon her body had adapted to for her lacrima of the frostfire dragon it was synthesized from. The half ice and half fire colorations and strange markings just made it beautiful to behold as she used powerful draconic wings to move herself to be in the way of the beast and then let loose a beam of frostfire from within her mouth. Normally the spell would be used with a hand to point it, but for now, she had forelegs and a mouth was much easier to use in this form. The now dragon would try and claw at the face of the king of storms to no avail before rolling back over the clouds to stand back on top of it. Even with everything going on it would become clear that the flying mass of clouds was beginning to slow down noticeably. That was progress! It meant that they were getting close to finishing this and moving on to doing something like going out for dinner and maybe having wine in the candlelight!

    Even in all of this fighting, even with combat focusing their minds on the current battle and their own survival, Aiyana was thinking about wooing the lady she was working beside. It was almost a normal thing for the vixen to do, but this time it actually sounded like something she wanted to do rather than it just being something she always did. Maybe she would ask the Black Rose guild master out for a bite to eat after everything here was said and done, if the other did not ask her for something else before that happened that was. With the fun thoughts running through her mind, though cut off so that they were not shared with Iza through the mask Aiyana had hanging off of her currently, the female would continue using more of her spells now that it drained nothing from her to do so. More and more of the clouds would become frozen in frostfire even as the creature showed signs of slowing down even more. Another flight to get ahead of the beast, which was easy with how slow the king was moving now, would show the 'eyes' of the creature drooping to closed even as it suddenly began dropping at an alarming rate.

    "Timber! This thing is asleep and falling into the ocean, watch out!" The words would come across the link of their minds from the mask even as the dragon dove down to prepare to stop the obvious waves that the crashing of this beast would make. The initial burst of noise was almost like the cracking of cement as it hit the water at full speed, the cloud-based behemoth sinking like a rock to disappear into the ocean. The waves that were caused by it looked like something out of a horror movie using water disasters, and when Aiyana focused all of her practice at turning liquid into frostfire she would be able to stop the waves even as they were about to hit the nearby islands. The burning ice would make for some nice pictures and recordings for the future if anyone had recording software near them to do such things with. The shimmering flames on the ice would not continue until the magic wore off, which would likely be a few days with how much effort had been put into it, before the frozen water would simply disperse back into the sea with no forward movement left to it. With the beast likely drowned at the bottom of the ocean, if the body did not dissipate in the process, the woman would shift back into her normal form and speak through the link of their minds as she gave herself her own hearing back at the same time. "Well, it seems we managed to take this thing down. It's calm enough to drop the illussions on your hearing now, so we can chat about reporting this and what to do next." The woman's happy expression would almost close her eyes completely as tails moved erratically in happy wags in all directions. They had completed a mission that most thought impossible, not it was time to celebrate!

    Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ H Rank

    Izayuki watched contently as Aiyana would devour the snow from her Winter Wonderland spell. The magic of the H rank slayer spell surely would supplement her partner in combat, and give her a boost in power. Before the tanuki’s eyes, the nine tailed fox suddenly would transform into an enormous dragon in order to fight off the storm king. The slayer could only suspect that her job partner had eaten enough frost to push into slayer force. Izayuki herself had never experienced the sudden surge of power, but was well aware of its existence and her own potential in reaching it.

    The draconic Aiyana breathed a sudden beam of frostfire towards the gargantuan beast of storms, and just like that, it was all over. The dragon-shaped cloud of a monster, the storm king, would freeze over and stop in its flight. Suddenly, with closing eyes, it would begin to fall down towards the ocean, possibly from whence it once came. Storms evolved from water evaporating from the ocean and reaching the atmosphere, after all. The only difference with the storm king was that it was a sentient weather phenomenon.

    Flying closer to the frostfire dragon, the Bakedanuki watched with wide eyes as the giant beast tumbled into the sea. After watching the dramatic fall and the somewhat destructive aftermath to follow, Izayuki took note of the nine tailed fox’s telepathic words. With a big sigh of relief, the ayakashi lowered her audible illusions on herself, welcoming the sounds of nature once again, such as the wild ocean and the coastal gales. They had completed their task, a job that had been left incomplete for over a hundred years until now. Indeed it was time to celebrate, but the Bakedanuki herself had doubts. Was it really true that anyone else who had opposed this beast either failed or never returned? She could not deny that the storm king was powerful, as his mighty roars had even incapacitated the tanuki, but did it really only take a celestial spirit in dragon force and a god slayer’s strongest spell to take down? Izayuki had overestimated the difficulty that would be involved, and had underestimated the level of noise.

    “Good job, Aiyana,” the tanuki girl complimented, not certain of what else there was to say. The nine tailed fox had certainly carried them on the mission, and had power that was definitely not to be scoffed at by anyone. Even if the Bakedanuki had wimped out from fighting the loud monster, she now realized that the celestial spirit would have had it all under control, and would have easily been able to take on the king of thunderstorms. “I’m not sure what the clients even want when it comes to a report, or if they’re even still around. It’s been a hundred years since this job was posted, after all,” she continued. They could write up something to submit, or try and track down the clients to talk face to face, but if they were not in a nursing home or some place where they keep old mages, they had likely already passed away.

    That would leave only one option-- the Magic Council themselves had likely assumed the role of handling the job affairs if the clients were no longer around, but it was a legitimate request and issue that needed to be handled. The idea of asking for payment from the Magic Council was sickening to the stubborn tanuki, who had grown to loathe them more and more, but she wanted her share of the reward, at least in order to stash away jewels for her guild.

    Once the other female dropped her illusions she would tell Aiyana that she had done a good job. "Good job to you as well. We did it together, we finished this job together. Either of us could have likely done it, with some trouble, but with both of us here this went down without anyone getting hurt by being in this things path." The nine tailed fox would say it, more out of kindness than any other reason, before listening to see if Izayuki had anything else to say. The only other thing mentioned was the thought process if what they were supposed to do for turning in this job. The clients were likely dead, or long gone through time, and thus they would have to figure out something quick. "Well, we could probably turn it in with the magic council. They likely know SOMEONE stopped the beast already, given how many eyes and ears were in this direction even when we were fighting it. Should we go let them know before we go and do whatever we want? Or would you like to hang out for a bit before we do it?" The woman would say it as ears twitched and tails moved about curiously. The mission was over, and now it was time to decide if they should do something before or after meeting with the Magic Council to claim their prizes.

    Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ H Rank

    Izayuki nodded happily in agreement and response to the fox woman, with her large silver tail wiggling behind her in glee. She was glad that the loud and painful ordeal was over, and that they were now able to get paid, be regarded as local heroes, and continue on their merry way.
    “I’m in no hurry to talk to the Magic Council,” the Bakedanuki replied, her expression and tone changing slightly to one of mild disdain as she mentioned the organization that governed the world of magic. She was no fan of the Magic Council, and even plotted to see them taken down once and for all, both as a personal goal, and one set for her guild.

    Her face lighting up again, the yokai continued in a perky manner. “With that, I’m in no hurry to let them know, so I’m good with ‘hanging out’,” Izayuki said, the latter two words feeling very foreign in her mouth. The young ayakashi rarely ever ‘hang out’ with just anyone, and would only engage in conversation and quality time with guildmates at Silver Moon Inn. Once in a while, she would talk to Kite in Saber Tooth, but rarely had many friends to just relax around. Fortunately, Aiyana seemed quite nice, and her late husband had always spoken good things about her. It would not hurt to get to know her ally and new friend a little better. “What do you have in mind~?”

    Just as the guild master of Black Rose was in no hurry to meet the Magic Council, so was Aiyana. The celestial spirit had had her bouts with the Magic Council herself, had even been told she could not start a guild of her own under their rule because she was just 'a magical being meant to be used by others instead of doing whatever she wanted on the planet.' The woman thought they may have even been the one to destroy her guild through the other group that had been hired to deal with Pharaoh's Call. There was no proof, of course, but the idea was still lodged in her mind. "Yeah, I really don't like that group all too well for personal reasons." The nine tails behind her would move in a slightly more aggressive manner, the thoughts running through her head causing them to react automatically to it, as she listened to Iza ask her what she had in mind for the time they were about to spend together.

    That one question put a lot of ideas into the head of one of the lewdest creatures in the universe. What did she have in mind that they could do together? Aiyana Shuer, the Ace of Lamia Scale, was being asked what she would like to do with another female in their free time. Though she did have to be careful about how she went about it. This was a guild master of another guild, and a Wizard Saint as well. Aiyana was strong, passionate, and not afraid of anything, but she had to keep an eye out for the effect her words had on the guilds and others they were involved with. Rather than ask for bedtime fun, or something else involving nudity and the obscene, the woman would take the safe route and vaguely ask the other woman out on a date without making it sound like one. "Well, I was thinking maybe I could treat us to dinner and a celebratory drink? We can find a fancy diner, one out of the places we normally frequent, and enjoy each other's company at a table as we stay out of sight of those that want to just interview us." In the end it simply sounded like a dinner for two, though she hoped the other would not turn down the idea. Iza was cute, and she had heard good things about her from her previous husband. She was a lot like Mao in many aspects, and that may have been causing some of the intrigue in the other female.

    Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ H Rank

    A silver ear perked in interest when Aiyana mentioned not liking the Magic Council. Like Izayuki, the fox was in a legal guild, and was even an ace of it. Not only that, but she was a Wizard Saint. For a while, the Bakedanuki had always assumed that she was the only legal guild high position and Wizard Saint that disliked their magical patron organization. Apparently not, given Aiyana’s words. “What do you mean by that?” she asked, silver tail twitching in curiosity. How great it would be to know that someone thought along the same lines as her that was not from her guild. However, she would not hold her breath. For all she knew, Aiyana could just have a mild disdain for them, and not a deep loathing akin to the Bakedanuki’s.

    Izayuki’s expression brightened at the offer of a celebratory drink and dinner. While she herself did not drink, as the smell and taste of alcohol was revolting, a nice iced tea would do the trick for refreshment. “I like that idea,” the Bakedanuki said, hands folding behind her back in a comfortable manner. “Where do you propose we go?”

    That naturally knocked Silver Moon Inn off the list of options since everyone knew their guild master to some degree, and Aiyana was a rather famous face. The tanuki girl rarely treated herself to fine dining, but was eager to accept the offer. It was much better to eat with someone, and not alone. While she partially felt guilty for Aiyana offering to pay for it, the youthful mage accepted the gift regardless. She would make it up to Aiyana for her past and present kindness somehow.

    Aiyana commenting about how she did not really like the Magic Council was met with a question that she would normally be against answering. The celestial spirit assumed most would take the info she dropped about them and take it directly to the Magic Council to try and get her in trouble even though it would likely not affect her position with them. "Well, before Pharaoh's Call was destroyed they told me I could not have a registered guild with them as I was a Celestial Spirit and not a legal being to hold a guild. Basically told me I was a spell and not a person with how they described it. I still have a nagging suspicion that they were the funds behind the people that sacked my guild and killed the members of my race that I had found and gathered with me to try and relocate them to a new home. I can't prove it at all, but the easiest explanation is usually the correct one. Ya know?" The woman's tails would droop as she thought about that unfortunate situation. She had lost her family, her relationship, her guild, and a lot of friends in a single fell swoop that could only be traced to a possibility of who had funded it.

    A shake of her head would drive away the thoughts as she went back to smiling as Izayuki agreed to their little date. "Well then! I know a really fancy sushi place out in Hosenka that wouldn't mind us staying there for a while. Excellent food, sake, and tea! Would you mind going there with me?" Aiyana was hopeful that that place would be perfect for the two of them to go to. It was a quiet place and was known for being a wonderful dating spot for the town residents. Not many others went there, and nearly all of them were out of the loop for titles and positions as they had their own lives and culture going on.

    Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ H Rank

    The Bakedanuki listened to the fox intently. There was a look of mild shock on her face that betrayed bigger shock within the young tanuki girl. Was the Magic Council really so cruel as to stoop to what she could only describe as a form of racism. Aiyana was very much a person like them and like Izayuki. She had emotions and feelings and memories too, even if she was from another realm and could be summoned with magic. Izayuki personally had been fond of Pharaoh’s Call, which at the time was an ally of both Black Rose and her husband’s guild, Golden Phoenix. The three guilds formed an alliance, but their relationship was cut short with the destruction of the independent morally-good guild.

    “I’m sorry,” Izayuki said, silver-furred ears drooping slightly. It was a sad story indeed, and resonated with truth. “It would not surprise me if it were the Magic Council. They’re cruel and corrupt,” she said, venom lacing her last sentence. Word of them never was positive. They had attacked a peaceful kingdom and used legal guilds as pawns to do so, and now she learned that they denied the celestial spirit a position as master of a legal guild. They were a spiteful organization, quick to release judgement on any party, and bring them to a swift end if they disapproved. And who would question their decisions? Too few. The Bakedanuki’s bushy silver tail brushed one of Aiyana’s drooping tails in sympathy. She could only imagine how hard it had been. Black Rose was her family, and losing them would be unthinkable. Izayuki did not mind her verbal attitude towards the Magic Council. She preferred honesty when possible, and had no qualms against speaking poorly about a poor organization. If anyone disagreed, well, she would know where they stood in their beliefs.

    Her expression brightened once more when Aiyana went on to describe the place she had in mind for food. The young ayakashi had not eaten fish in a long while. Back in the day, she had learned to swim and would catch her own. In the society of humans and mages, however, they could order a well-cooked fish right off a menu. Or, in this case, right out of the freezer. “I’d love to join you,” the Bakedanuki replied with a smile. She did not recall the last time she had gone to Hosenka, if at all. Fortunately, Izayuki loved exploring and intended to travel all of Fiore in her long lifetime.

    It seemed that Izayuki had no issues with what Aiyana had to say about the Magic Council, the other tailed female telling her exactly how she really felt about the group that ruled over the magic part of the country. The nine tailed fox could almost taste the venom as it left the lips of the other girl, her own lips nearly going numb from it, and she would just log it as something the two had in common that could be useful for conversation on a cold, rainy, day when the Black Rose guild master wanted to avoid the thunder and noise.

    Aiyana perked up, even more, tails nearly batting anything behind her down to the ground when Izayuki said she would love to join her. "All right! Then we will be there in just a moment!" Without even asking, without advanced warning, the woman would grab hold of the other's hand before teleporting the two of them directly in front of the storefront for the place they had just set their date for. "Well, there's a spot in the back corner that they will let us take. We'll go straight to it cause they leave it for the regular mages that come through. The table will likely be ready, cause they take their customers quite seriously." Aiyana would walk her in, a smile on her face and as happy as she could be at the current moment. She had been so lonely, so lonely since she had lost Mao so this was something she needed even if Izayuki did not think of her in the same way. Who knew, maybe she would have a chance if she kept trying and was patient. Soon they would be seated across from each other and then they would be brought menus at the same time as the waiter would ask for drinks.

    Before the bakedanuki could fully discern what was going on, her hand had been grabbed and the two were whisked away to the little sushi shop in the smaller town of Hosenka. The ayakashi could not recall if she had ever been to the fabulous tiny town before, but it was already an extremely refreshing change of scenery for the stressed and tired tanuki. The storefront was homely and the smell of freshly cooked or delicately prepared sushi filled the keen canine’s hungry senses. The kitsune explained the details of the shop and where they would sit as the duo walked in and towards their seats.

    Once seated with her silver-furred tail hanging loosely from her chair, but not daring to graze the floor, the ayakashi took a look at the menu. Red velvet cake was not the first thing she could look for in this case-- it would likely be rude and bad form to order dessert right off the bat as the first course. Regardless, Izayuki chipperly ordered an iced tea from the waiter and turned her gaze towards Aiyana once more. “You’ve been here before-- what is the best meal to order? I'll take one of whatever you get,” she declared, her tail flicking slightly in contentment and happiness behind her.

    Once the waiter walked up, and Izayuki had ordered her iced tea, the waiter would look over to Aiyana so that she could order her drink as well. Before she could say anything to either person another man would walk up, looking angry and talking in a thick accent that made it sound even more aggressive than it was really meant. "Who are you! Why you sit here! This is for the VIP's only and I do not recognize you as VIP! Move, leave, whatever! But no sit here!" The man waved in frustration, his knife moving about in the air as he did so, as Aiyana tried to process why he was yelling at her right now. Oh...that was right! Her was the wrong pronoun for the celestial spirit while she sat here at this table. The VIP she was known as was still by the same name, but it was a 'he' as she almost always brought females that were more into guys when she was here normally. Now it was time to fix that problem! The female would shapeshift into the form that most females she brought here found attractive, still in the nine tailed fox form but that of a male with excellent features, before she would speak up to the head chef.

    "Many apologies, forgot that you aren't used to seeing that form. Will this be better?" The male voice was a soft baritone as Aiyana spoke in response to the head chef's angry message to them.

    "Ah! Many apology! I will go back to the kitchen, please enjoy stay!" With that said the man would swiftly go back through the kitchen doors even as Aiyana did her responses to previous questions.

    "I'll take the spicy crunchy sweets infused vodka, please. And since my lovely lady friend wishes for the best on the menu we would like two orders of the sashimi and sushi platter, and could you bring us a red velvet cake later? Last time you were out and I was really wanting some of my favorite cake from here. You really need a bakery with how good you are at making it!" After saying this the nine-tailed fox would look back at the one with the gorgeous silver-furred tail. "Well, is there anything you'd like to chat about while we wait for our food? Trust me, it's worth the wait!" The question would go in time with the wagging of her tails, the thought of the food edging her ever onwards to pass the time until it arrived.

    Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ H Rank

    Everything seemed so peaceful and relaxing at first, until a man stormed over towards their table and began to go off on Aiyana, ranting and angry in some foreign accent. Surely Aiyana had not been deceitful, taking the VIP seating without permission. Fortunately, her partner did not seem fazed by the angry chef. Right before their eyes, the kitsune shapeshifted into a nine tailed fox of the other gender. It surprised the bakedanuki, who typically preferred to remain female in her own shape changes, unless she absolutely needed otherwise. Aiyana seemed different, however, having no qualms in changing her gender on the spot. Why was it that they only remembered and knew this form of hers, though?

    The man apologized and went away, but Izayuki’s train of thought was broken and derailed entirely when the kitsune mentioned red velvet cake. “You like red velvet cake too?” she mildly gasped, almost interrupting. Her fluffy silver tail wagged behind her happily. Not everyone was as obsessed with the unique dessert as she, after all. Did Aiyana somehow know that this was her favorite, or was this some wild coincidence? Either way, the bakedanuki was quite pleased. The sashimi and sushi platter also sounded splendid. The tanuki rarely had many chances to eat fish, but enjoyed it every time, especially when she did not have to catch it herself. She was still re-adjusting to the fox girl, or, man, having suddenly changed their form. It felt strange, like they were a different person entirely. “Mm, not particularly,” Izayuki replied with a soft smile. “But tell me, what is it like in Lamia Scale? I’ve never met your guildmaster, but Lamia Scale allied with Black Rose over letter.”

    Aiyana had heard the gasped response from Izayuki as she was ordering their food. So Izayuki really liked red velvet, huh? The female she was currently attempting to romance didn't really have much she wanted to talk about, so she set to asking about the guild she was in instead. First of all, Aiyana was going to comment about the cake type. After that she would answer the question properly!

    "Well, I do love red velvet cake. I thought about finding a good baker mage and trying to learn how to food make just it myself. Might even just talk a food make mage to teach me a simple food make spell so I can just make anything at any time. Though red velvet cake mostly! As for being in Lamia Scale, it's been pretty quiet so far. All of the ones that had been there when I had left them the first time were no longer there, and a lot of the newer ones are pretty quiet or withdrawn so they don't talk a whole lot. I haven't been with them long, maybe a couple weeks, so I'm hoping to get friendly with most of them so it feels more like home instead of just some place to meet people for jobs. Currently being at home feels more comfortable, and for me, that's really not how I want to stay" The woman would sound happy through it all, though her tails would droop slightly and giving away the sadness that went along with it. "Anyways! How is Black Rose? It was a guild that was originally in my hometown, so I grew up hearing about them, so I heard a lot but never got to go in and visit." Aiyana would turn the tables, asking the guild master about the very guild she ran.

    Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ H Rank

    The bakedanuki’s tail twitched eagerly as Aiyana talked about red velvet cake, the one true consistent passion of the young ayakashi. How it was so amazing and wonderfully made was beyond her; human junk food certainly was delicious. Izayuki had been particularly fond of her former Kvasir teammate, Magna’s, red velvet cake. He had used cooking magic and spoiled her taste buds into not enjoying other food nearly as much. Of course, with his departure from the guild, she had had to become accustomed to other food once more. After a few weeks of withdrawal, Izayuki was back to eagerly enjoying many kinds of food. She looked forward to sampling this small but nice restaurant’s red velvet cake with fluffy white icing.

    Izayuki listened in great interest to Aiyana explaining what Lamia Scale was like. Having started in Black Rose when it was a neutral and independent guild, it was interesting to learn more about how the other legal guilds functioned, since she knew that her own guild still carried its past mentality despite its alignment with the, ugh, magic council. It sounded much quieter than the boisterous Black Rose, but the tanuki nodded in agreement at the kitsune’s mention of becoming friends with her guildmates. “Of course,” she said with an encouraging smile, before her now male job partner asked her about her own guild. “You were from Lavanitir Port City?” she asked in curiosity before continuing, ears pricked in an intrigued manner. “Black Rose is as noisy as always. Silver Moon Inn is often full and busy, and my guildmates seem to enjoy their downtime in the guildhall.”

    Everyone in her guild seemed to be happy and thus the guild master wished to preserve that comfort and happiness in any way she could, even if their goal was a much graver one, and the guild harbored a darker side and nature for when the occasion arose. The mafia was meant for nothing more than furthering their more solemn agenda, and after that, things could go back to normal. Hopefully.
