The calm breeze from the rooftop rustled the young girl's brunette hair as she leaned back against the small bit of wall that spared her from falling over the edge. It was always nice, being up so high. Of course, due to her favoritism of sniping she always had to wait up in higher places such as this. And honestly? it was probably one of her favorite places to be. It was quiet, and she was alone. Two things she liked when she was going about her business. Noise distracted her, made her lose her focus, which could then make her lose her shot. But today? Well, apparently she was going to lose that too, her quiet alone time. For some reason they wanted to give her a partner for this mission. Something about it being very important, and they had to make sure the major was alive no matter what. Didn't they trust her enough? She's done so many successful missions before this that she had lost count long ago. Now all of a sudden they didn't trust her enough to do a simple protection mission? What was their deal?

Oh well. Savannah twiddled with her sniper, cleaning the muzzle of magical energy residue and a bit of blood splatter from her last job with a worn white cloth. If the person got in her way, she could just kill them. Not like they mattered. They were a criminal anyway, just like her. The magic council wouldn't care if she reported that her hand 'accidentally' slipped and shot them straight through the brain. The council would know she was lying, she was known for her steady hand and shots that never missed, but the life of a criminal they were using as a mere pawn in the grand scheme of things wasn't too big of a loss. They could just pull up the next sorry sap that shoplifted gummy worms because they didn't want to pay or something.

A crackle sounded in her right ear suddenly, disturbing what little silence she was going to have left.
"Black Mamba. Black Mamba come in, do you copy?" The all too familiar voice and phrase came in loud and clear. Appaloosa. It was always Appaloosa. But she was her assigned director after all, there was no one else who contacted her unless necessary.
The brunette leaned her sniper into her other hand, using her now free hand to push the ear piece into her canal more and press the button to respond.

    "Yeah i copy. What's up?"

"I have a note from AQ about your assigned partner. We ask that you do not come into skin on skin contact with him for your own safety. Complete this mission with as much distance between you both as possible"

Savannah's brown eyebrows creased in confusion. "You mean don't touch him? Why?"

"I cannot disclose this information, as it would be breaching privacy contracts. Appaloosa out."

"Hey hey! No what do you mean don't touch him?!" her voice grew more aggressive, not liking the vagueness when it came to her own safety. "Isn't this breaching some contract of mine to not know?! Who is this gu-!" A loud, ear-piercing screech came from the small communication device. It caused the sniper great pain as it echoed in her ears and mind, making her grab her head to try and calm it, but to no effect. After a few seconds it stopped, leaving a ringing in the girl's ears. The silence followed for a few seconds after, before Appaloosa's somehow even more serious voice.

"Do you know there's an infinite amount of frequencies? There's only a hand full that humans can hear, but so many of them can kill you too. I've been meaning to test out which ones do what."
It took Savannah a bit to recover, the edges of her eyes holding back tears from the throbbing in her mind.

"I-I get it, no more questions. I'll complete the mission without touching them."
Though there was no visual picture to appaloosa, Savannah couldn't help but feel the smirk she had on her red lips right now.

"Thank you for your cooperation. Appaloosa out." And just like that, communication was cut off. The sniper cursed the woman's name in her mind, the only place that was safe before sitting back up and going back to work on cleaning her gun.

Being an information broker was somewhat of a daunting task because most of the time, your sources needed to be air-tight. Good sources weren't always the same people because that leads to getting too comfortable. Get too comfortable, get lazy. Get too lazy, start cutting corners. Poof. You fade into irrelevancy and disappear because the system is against you. Not like he could really complain. He's never been noticed anyways, so what's the big deal about a permanent erasure?

The young agent actually arrived at the destination a day in advance. He had to research things as well as set up so he could his eyes all over the town. It'd be a pain if something major happened in an area that he couldn't see. He set up invisible lacrima cameras that could capture whatever he needed in a 360-degree environment. The more prepared he was, the quicker he could get this over with. But, sometimes, when you were over prepared, that made it get boring.

He was up at the crack of dawn the day of. He needed to be on high alert all day in all honesty. Someone's life was at stake, and this was the first protection job the white haired male had been assigned. Most of the time, he'd been assigned menial tasks that didn't really mean much, but this one was a lot more interesting. He also was usually never assigned to field work. Always ground support. If his Magic Council assigned partner wasn't any help, he could take care of everything by himself.

Opening around seven screens, live feed of the lacrima cameras would be captured onto the screens so that he didn't really need to move from his spot. He was in a secluded building near the middle of town, so he wasn't too far from everything. A notification of activity on a rooftop appeared over one of the feeds. Pinching his fingers would cause that specific screen to become larger as he watched something unfold.

Seems that his partner had been here for a while and was just now receiving information about him. Another notification appeared as it caught onto the radio frequency. It was encrypted, which meant it was from that part of the Magic Council. Smiling to himself as he tapped the screen, audio waves would be recorded as he listened to the brunette speak to her director.

Black Mamba. That was her code name? Interesting. Perhaps he should think of an alias. He only really went by Oracle but based on the director's name, it probably had an animal theme. In the corner of his eye, a spider was building its web. Observing the intricacy of the web, Evan would nearly jump as he heard an extremely high frequency. Good lord, that was a pain to deal with and he hadn't even been wearing a headset. That poor girl. She's being treated like a dog.

It was a little annoying that he could relate completely to that kind of treatment.

Pulling up another screen, Evan would begin typing a message. Thanks to the extra range provided by the cameras, he could send a direct message to appear right in front of Black Mamba. As he finished typing the message, he looked at the bottom, pondering what to sign it as. Chuckling for a second as he finished typing his message, Evan would flick his wrist as the screen in front of him disappeared.

Observing through the lacrima camera, a message would appear in front of the brunette girl as she cleaned her gun.

Does all of the Magic Council phrase it that badly when talking about me? I understand that I'm not supposed to make skin to skin contact, but it really sounds horrible the way she said it. Also, tell your director to be more careful about the frequency she talks to you with. Getting through that encryption was child's play.

On another note, I'm hoping that you are a good shot. I'm perfectly comfortable where I am, and don't feel like having to do this all by myself. I can completely fill you in on where to go and what to shoot, but if you don't react fast enough, you force me to ruin my set up and directly solve the problems myself. Black Mamba, don't make me leave the web that I set up. It'll be a lot more of hassle than you realize.

    - White Widow

    P.S: Smile. You're on camera.

Damn that Appaloosa. Even now she could feel the ringing inside of her head as if it was still happening. Her mind was fuzzy and weird. What if that ringing caused permanent damage or something? If frequencies could cause death they could also cause other things. This is what the magic council got for trusting other criminals to direct other criminals. She'd like to see Appaloosa come out and do the ground work like she had to. Wasn't going to be so tough then, huh?
Trying to shake away the ringing numbness in her brain Savannah finished up cleaning out her gun and began to snap the pieces back together. Having done this for years, it wasn't even that hard. Though dozens of random parts scattered the ground it would take less than three minutes to put the entire thing back together. Under one minute if she was trying or in a rush. But the major still wasn't here, so she could take her time.

Green speckled oculars moved around the concrete rooftop, locating the barrel. It sat just a little away from her, on her right side. Reaching over the sniper attempted to grab onto it, but stopped when a bright square appeared in front of her gaze. She wasn't caught too off guard about it. It was the same type of technology the council used for when they needed to send messages to her that Appaloosa could not, but there was always at least some type of warning first before they arrived. A small beep in her ear. This one, whoever, came completely randomly. The screen reflected into her oculars as she read over the message with a curious gaze. So, this was from her partner. White Widow. Fancy name. Well, it wasn't even his real name. Just like her and Appaloosa, he had been given a code name upon joining the ranks. But the name made sense, seeing as how he wasn't willing to come out of his lair and actually do the dirty work. What was it and these other criminals and not wanting to get their hands dirty? What is she, their cleaning maid?
Upon reading the last line Savannah's gaze traveled over to the corner of her vision, spotting something on the edge of the small wall cause a glint for a split second before vanishing.
The girl's confusion quickly melted into a sleazy grin, a chuckle coming from her throat.
"Lacrima cameras, huh? Damn, Whitey. You sure came prepared." She would begin putting her gun back together again, though continued talking out loud. Given he had cameras everywhere, he most likely could hear her through them, if not her ear piece if he had managed to hack into it.
"Listen, i don't like working together with people, especially with someone who hides and lets everyone else do the dirty work. I'm more of a lone wolf, yknow? But if i get one more write up they're gonna take away my video game privileges, and i haven't beaten the normal type gym leader yet. I can't let that bitch beat me. So as long as you know what you're doing-" a final click attached the magazine to the rifle "-Guess it wouldn't hurt to listen."
A car pulling up to the house a block away from her caused the gunslinger to turn her attention to it. A taller, older looking man got out from the passenger seat. He was well-kept, and wore some fancy military-type suit. Not to mention the perfectly gray curled mustache above his lips. If Savannah wasn't relying so greatly on her stealth right now, she would have laughed at him. Though she looked at him with a rather sinister look, it lightened up a but when she saw a little girl run out of the house and up to him, jumping into his arms. A small pang of sadness wriggle its way into her heart, over listening her greeting him with an adorable happy birthday message, she but quickly shook it off. Reaching beside her, Savannah grabbed the pair noise canceling headphones beside her, placing them firmly onto her head before she laid down, flattening herself onto the ground and positioning her rifle to peek just slightly over the wall. She closed her one eye, looking into the crosshair mounted on top.

"You've got about seven shots before the silencer runs out and my shots are as loud as thunder. Choose your targets carefully- i wont miss."

Evan gave a playful smirk when he heard her comment upon the lacrima cameras. He had to go all out, other resources for information got lazy but he needed to constantly stay on top of his toes. Gazing at the figure of his partner, he'd notice her putting her gun back together and noting the design and model of the gun. It was something that was unique to her, and there wasn't many of them in the world. The only one that was in constant use seemed to be her's. Interesting to note.

His eyebrows raised as Black Mamba continued to talk to no one in particular. She caught on quick, unlike previous job partners. She knew that he could probably hear her, no matter where she was, and with that assumption, she'd be correct. The lacrima cameras were completely equipped with high-quality mics that could pick up even the bugs flying around. However, that wasn't his concern at the moment.

Hearing about how he was hiding made him inwardly groan. There were a little too much people, who preferred to work lone wolf and didn't enjoy when people hid behind whatever they could. But, something that Black Mamba didn't realize was that knowing was half the battle. Evan could easily do this all alone considering he contains the knowledge and the firepower to deal with all of this. But, why would he shoulder all that work alone when he can simply work at it easier with someone else? If he wanted, he could just tap her on the neck without his glove and find out everything about her. But, he's not like that so he wouldn't... unless she kept up this attitude.

Rolling his eyes as the brunette continued, his attention would be caught on the girl as she stated that she was still on the normal type gym leader and has been struggling on her. Was she stupid? It wasn't that hard to beat her. Just bring a rock type and she can't do anything against you. Pausing for a second, Evan would pull up a screen to bring himself to the frequency that her earpiece was attuned to. It didn't take too long and he made sure to deafen her end so she didn't realize that he was adjusting himself to speak with her.

Clicking the screen to undeafen her, a light chuckle would echo in the empty room as he spoke to her, "You're still at her? I've been done that game forever." He appreciated the comment about as long as he knew what he was doing, it was fine. It was going to go fine regardless.

Evan saw as the major pulled up out of the car. He really looked exactly how someone would expect. Rolling his eyes, Evan would watch as a little girl ran out of the house to greet him. Evan felt his face twitch. He wasn't stupid. He was jealous. He had someone to return home to. He never even had a place to call home.

Shaking his head, he'd note as Black Mamba stated that she only has seven shots where her silencer can be active. Making note of that on another screen, so that he needed to make sure he thought ahead in case there were more targets. A screen began to flash red as Evan clicked it, enlarging it. The camera would be following a mage who was hidden in a building, near the major. He seemed to be ready to pounce. A fireball in his hand, he'd be waiting for the moment where the girl was let down out of his arms.

Speaking calmly but quickly, Evan would inform the poised sniper as she waited calmly. "From your location, there is a fire mage who is ninety degrees north west. He will be hopping out of the building. The minute you see him peak his head out, get him. If he falls near the major, I'll be ready to react so that he doesn't see a thing." Opening up the boarded window, Evan would place an unactivated teleporter on the ground of his mini base. Perching himself on the edge of the window sill, the imagination mage would prepare to grappel immediately to Mamba's location and take care of the body. Chuckling as he waited, the young man would state aloud. "I usually don't show contacts my face but seems you might get the special treatment."

Banter always kept customers interested and if Black Mamba was as good as the Magic Council reported, he wouldn't mind in the slightest becoming a regular operative with her. Having a good offense is amazing especially when you have a support as good as Evan.
