    Fortress' Fall 2Cvofe6

    - Aemon

    " "
    ” “
The orders has been given to him and to say the least they absolutely disgusted him. Aemon marches through the various fortress halls that belonged to the Basilisk Fang guild looking for the Ahote, the child of the Famine and the current head of the snake that was his guild, "Just when I think the orders given by this guild couldn’t be more appalling I am once again proven wrong." Aemon took pride with in himself of the fact there was very few jobs he would never willingly take. Assassinations he had no complaints about especially when they lined up with his own perspectives. Causing chaos by the way of sabotage if it were within his skills to pull through with the task he has no problem doing that either but the latest order literally turned his stomach into knots. “Are you sure you want to approach him like this? Your emotions are flared up, don’t you think it would be wiser to confront the kid when your more level headed?” Ddraig asked and the points he made were valid ones, points that normally would have swayed Aemon from such a rash decision but not this time. "It wouldn’t make a difference." he stated mentally at the dragon that inhabited his soul with a sharpness in his tone. "It could be another hour, day week month or year. I’d still have this reaction and wouldn’t approach it any differently." His mind wandered back to the night that he had met these snakes and how they struck when he least expected it, the job he was tricked into still lingered in the back of his mind. Lifting one of his hands to look at as if he were analyzing something new. "My hands are still saturated with the blood of those students I ruthlessly slaughtered. All this job will do is add new tally marks to the total number of bodies that I put in the ground." Ddraig could have continued with his attempts at calming Aemon down but he knew that his attempts would be fruitless.

After traversing the halls for several minutes, covering a majority of the available space in the fortress until he came to a stop at the door that would lead into the quarters of Ahote. Not so much as a knock would occur, he turned the handle and pushed the door open with enough force for them to create a sound when hitting the walls. "Ahote I have to have a word with you." he wasn’t asking he was telling. "Why was I given an order to go and abduct children and bring them here?" the sharpness he has earlier when speaking to Ddraig still lingered in his actual voice. He knew whatever the answer was going to be he would severely dislike it.

The new man pacing about the guild hall naturally drew Akeldama’s attention rather quickly. She had more spied him from inside the confines of her room, peering out. And given a brief span of time, took to following the man. He wasn’t exactly trying to hide his presence. Hell he was even… Talking… To himself.

About killing children. Well… Maybe this wasn’t the right course of action. But she had to see what would happen next, so she did her best to trail him quietly, while activating her future vision to get a glimpse of what was going to happen.

The girl was still a ratty mess from having lived on the streets. Not yet having even cleaned herself of the mess… She just didn’t quite feel safe enough here to become that vulnerable.

Ten bags of potatoes, six pounds of sliced bacon, three dozen eggs, and varying types of grain all with dwidling quantities. One by one, an old fountain checked each item from the petite sheet of paper from an unnoticeable agenda book. Reviewing its contents was the pretty-faced Ahote who stared at it with a perturbed gaze, repeating the list to himself under his quick breaths. Though while reading, his brows would screw together, unscrew, then screw back together again as if heavy thought burdened his mind. Clearly what he was reading made him feel less than delighted.

"Well this is awfully inconvenient." Ahote sighed, tapping the butt of his fountain pen against the temple of his head, topaz eyes dropping to a sympathetic lowness. There was clearly not enough rations to go around for much longer, yet most times the serpents he oversaw found themselves meals without visiting the communal kettle and could get by with Aeluri's impressive stock of alcohol. He began to wonder if he should even think about investing in perishable resources if this was the case, but as the wonder began to pound against his head he'd flick his pen aside and slump back into his mahogany chair with a ghoulish sigh to follow. Even taking inventory was exhausting.

The day seemed to be as normal before the heavy wooden door ahead of his abruptly swung open with a deep, silvery voice marching behind it. Following that was a familiarly foul scent, smelling of sweat and garbage. Must've been the cheeky Akeldama?

Startled, Ahote would erect from his slouched posture with a stiff countenance to match. At the door stood a questioning Aemon who demanded answers and at the sight the master's shoulders descended back to their original position, his complexion regaining colors, his whole body seeming to relax. So, he slumped back into his seat once more, left cheek lying on a metallic palm and a cheeky smirk slithering to his lips just moments after. "I see potatoes aren't the only thing we're lacking," he began, clearly his mannerisms were absent, "you didn't strike me as the curious type, Aemon. Or the type to hesitate with this line of work. Though I s'pose everyone has their limits, right?" the pretty-faced serpent guessed jeeringly.

Ahote and Aemon didn't have much of a history together and spent most of their bonding through orders and the occasional glance in the few instances they were together. Besides that, he treated their relationship much more like a client and their mage. Regardless, Ahote's head turned and gaze fixed to a shelf. On it was an assortment of dusty, dirty things, but what stood among them all was a stainless jar filled with an equally clear fluid and a blue eyeball floating within it. It glistened in the sunlight that crept into the dreary room, "We have a generous amount of biological and chemical agents downstairs that when used together could make all sorts of fun weapons. Or, so we think," he snickered, eyes returning back to Aemon, "but we'll never get to find out 'less we experiment, yes? And children are far more accessible than working, loud adults. I wouldn't lie to you. Not about this, anyway." snickers continued to flutter from his tongue with a casualness matching one's at afternoon tea. Everyday business, one might say.

The loud bang of a door being thrown open woke Aeluri from her drunken slumber. Mismatched eyes struggled to open, directed by a brain still fuzzy from alcohol and sleep. As her hazy vision started to clear, the dusky gray ceiling came into focus, towering above her head. The mage lie still for a moment, trying to remember where she was and why. Nothing came to mind except the feeling of two warm bodies flopped over and around her own. Raising her head brought into sight the heap of sleeping drunks that was her and her team, passed out in the corner of some room in the Basilisk Fang fortress. Waking up in unfamiliar surroundings was a common thing for the Buzz Killers, just the same as falling asleep on top of each other was.

A loud, angry voice echoed down the hallway following the former door slam. Now awakened fully, Aeluri sat up with a start, or at least attempted to, as the weight of Iris and Sonya’s sleeping bodies held her down. The small young woman struggled to escape the trapping limbs but was met with defeat. “Why are you fuckers so damn heavy?” she growled, laying her head back down with a sigh. Burning curiosity was coursing through the summoner. She wanted to know what all the door slamming and yelling was about so she could get in on the action.

A delicate finger poked first at the angular face of Iris, then at the delicate features of Sonya in an attempt to wake them up. “Come on guys, we need to know what’s going on. I heard yelling, I think there’s about to be some serious beef! Get upppppp!”

Akily had been doing her regular thing at the guild hall...stalking the guildmaster while drinking juice. She knew he wasn't able to run a guild, especially not one of such renown. She went over it time and time again. He wasn't meant to be a guildmaster, there was no reason why he should be one. She heard a rumor that the only reason why he had gained the lead of the guild, was that it was through family. Apparently the last guildmaster had been a mother like figure, or at least as much of one as an evil person could be. So, he gained the guild, or at least Akily was sure that was way. Since there was no other reasons to say otherwise, she had to hate him to the core. There was no way he was just going to roam around guild hall, without her being there. For a few sets off time, she would not let him out of her site, and she knew that there was no way he would be able to escape her gaze. So, as she hid behind a column in the building, she listened in on what they were saying. With a sudden gasp, she heard the facts.

On the inside of her body, anger began to fill up. There was no reason why a person should kill innocent children. They are pure and beautiful creations of the universe spirit. Whoever would dare to hurt them, would be killed. Although, Ahote was the guild master. All Akily could do was highly suggest maybe even threaten that Ahote shouldn't do that. However, all she could do now was wait until something more was said. She wouldn't assume things just yet. All she would do is stand there, staying hidden from both the guildmaster and guildmate with a face of dissatisfaction.

"My faaaace~" Iris half whined, half yawned. How dare anyone touch something so beautiful so weakly in roughness. Misunderstanding the prod as a failed attempt to allure him, the man lifted himself off of her if only to steal a hungover kiss, but then he paused. Indeed, he had heard her words, it just took a few extra seconds to process them fully. Yelling? Serious beef? Sounded kinky. Kinky enough for him to clambor off and stand. As usual he set about his grooming routine; meticulously smoothing down his violet locks and pressing his hands down his garments to straighten wrinkles and align them back into place. From the draft it was safe to say he had one of the girl's skirts on, and this button up didn't feel like his either. Oh well. He looked fine in anything. Once satisfied that he appeared his usual best, he poked some nosey eyes out of the room they'd trashed the night before

"Oh~ I think someone's pissed at Ahote~" Iris purred, mouth corners curling upward at the delicious implications swirling in his mind. "We should come to our fearless Guild Master's rescue, right? Or join in the fun...whichever." With that, Iris slipped into the hall way, lengthy legs gliding him nearer the door where all the commotion was contained. Pivoting at the hips, his shoulders and head angled into the doorway to get a look. Hmph. The rat was there, still looking as hideous as ever. One day he was going to groom her, if it was the last thing he did. Who knew? Maybe under all that grime and tangled hair, there might be a decent face. Next his purple hues landed on a man he hadn't had any direct contact with. White hair. Muscled body. Looked plenty fine from behind, especially all taut with anger. Would that fire be held in his eyes as well? Iris craved a peep. Beyond that was a seated Papa Snake, lazing as if coiled on a sun warmed rock. Certainly unruffled by the angry man, if not a little dismissive and snarky.

It was like watching a telenovela. What would happen next?

    Predictive Tension

For Katherine Neel Basilisk Fang was nothing short of a fucking hell hole. With her forced membership many months prior and her considerably abusive relationship with it's recently titled Guild Master Ahote, the atmosphere almost always struck her as stifling and rotten. However... from her place of comfort in front of the tavern's fireplace, she could feel the darkness shift to a new, deeper level of horrid as conflict within the fortress walls brewed. The warmth she drew from the flames before her suddenly did her no good at all, her skin grew cold as she slowly looked over her shoulder. Somewhere within these walls came the startling sound of booming rage. She turned with wide eyes to sit on her knees, then sliding one foot forward to help herself stand. She tugged anxiously at the linens wrapped around her forearms and ducked her head, looking carefully down the halls in search of the source. It was her ears that lead her closer to it and what she discovered was something she couldn't quite understand. Not because she was dense, but because she rarely ever saw her partner confront Ahote about a job he was assigned. And to her, that's what it seemed to be. She scrunched her brows and squinted her eyes at the sight; the office door wide open, Ahote slouched in his seat with a smug look on his face and Aemon towering over him, tense with anger. Something was definitely wrong here. Katherine gripped her hands on the door frame, leaning in just enough so that she could see but remain unnoticed for the most part. He wanted him to... kidnap children? For experiments? She blinked as the information sank in and then furrowed her brows further, pressing her lips into a fine line. The attitude being presented by their guild master would surely push him further... She wasn't sure how or how far. Should I... step in? The thought was a tempting one. A mediator could be necessary for a situation so unpredictable. She made up her mind. With quiet steps, Katherine made her presence known, keeping her eyes on Ahote until she came to stand at Aemon's side.

"Pardon the intrusion, but..." she started, glancing up at her partner briefly. "What exactly is going on here?"

    - Aemon

    " "
    ” “
It had seemed that Aemon unintentionally drew in a crowd just by his march into Ahote’s quarters. It wasn’t his intention to do so but intentions never seem to match results in the end. If they had perhaps he wouldn’t have found himself in the guild to begin with but that was a horse well beaten after death. His assertive and abrupt opening of Ahote’s door echoes through the halls behind him the decibels his voice carried was what lured several more people to spectate what was occurring. His eye scanned the door and would lock onto the only person that was present, that he had any dealings with was Katherine but that was because he had met her prior to both of their incarceration thanks to the snake and her brat, the latter who was now in charge of this cold jailhouse and had a connection with her. There was a young girl who was newer than the rest, her hair, clothes and everything else filthy. Next was the young woman with jet black hair but her most distinguishing physical trait was her heterochromic eyes one of red and black. He had seen her around but that was about it. Accompanying her was a young man not too far off from Aemon’s age his unique purple hair was only matched by his choice of outfit, Is he wearing a skirt? he couldn’t help but allow that thought to pop into his mind. “Indeed he is and by the looks of it he likes what he sees.” Ddraig said mockinly to Aemon, he ignored him and brought his focus back to the person of interest, the son of the snake. Ahote finally spoke first making a jest of which Aemon didn’t know the context of but then he admitted that he didn’t take Aemon for the curious type or the hesitant type. "Everyone has their limitations?" he said through clenched teeth but he knew that this child had more to say on the matter so he would hold his tongue until he heard what Ahote had to say.

And what he had to say didn’t quell the fire it actually added fuel to the fire. The reason why Ahote issued the order to abduct children in order for a very specific reason, after reminding Aemon of the chemical and biological based weapons. Of course the way he snickered reminded him of a child who set up a sophomoric practical joke on their school teacher. It was unsettling but the gut churning piece of information was what was revealed next. Aemon was actually rendered speechless by the next few lines that came out of his mouth. He didn’t say the words but Aemon could do the math, "So you want these kids to subject them to experiments just to see what your chemicals do?!" he couldn’t hide the anger that had been building up. "Why kid’s though?" he questioned immediately "There are plenty of people out there. Rapists, murderers and whatever actual scum there are out in the world." Aemon suspected that this would fall onto deaf ears but there could be hope that Ahote was different from his mother. Perhaps the cold and calculating snake that was his mother didn’t pass on all of her ruthlessness. Aemon looked over at Katherine who had asked what was going on but he just gave her a look. He didn’t have words for anyone but Ahote and soon enough he would reveal what the situation actually is. “Aemon control your anger. Emotions are the fast track to triggering me and no one knows I exist here except your red haired friend.” Aemon didn’t know this but there was a good chance that he could accidentally summon Ddraigs power and if he did while under the influence of his emotion it wouldn’t end well.

Post by Ahote 26th September 2018, 5:21 pm

Ahote's face grimaced at the crowd that flocked to his quarters, the distractions almost nauseating. But the familiar faces who succumbed to their own overwhelming curiosity was no unordinary occurrence, as it wasn't unusual for the serpents to slither to any booming conflict with an even more unusual manner of doing so. Defeated, Ahote slunk back into his seat with an acute stiffness, his fingers intertwining within each other as his sympathetic, almond-sharp eyes fluttered from face to face until they stared fixedly at the distressed Aemon. The master's usually blanched complexion melted with sympathy in looking at him and what indignancy shrouded around him. The shiny loafers that gleamed in the winter light tapped rhythmically as the complaints oozed from Aemon's throat.

Among the instigating gossip, one comment, albeit far more soft-spoken than the others, harbored the spotlight. Katherine Neel, a foul-mouthed girl who'd give off the impression that she above all others would share the same passion and intensity for such a subject as this. With the same bluntness and peachiness as before, Ahote answered, "Our good fellow here doesn't want to retrieve children for testing. Is it too touchy for you, too?" he cooed without expecting an answer, while his strained stares held too much solemnity for him to be joking.

Subsequently, Aemon uttered his frustrations just as quickly as Katherine unveiled her own. Ahote's attention returned to him, hunching over his relaxed fingers with the same genuineness of a worker listening in on customer complaints. The complexion once relaxed and soft suddenly congealed at his words, however. His lips descended into a sharp frown, his brows screwing together as if puzzled. "Come now, Aemon. A man as exceptional as yourself couldn't have thought for all this time that. . ." Ahote failed to finish his thought as his maniacal "tut-tut" sort of laughter breached through his collected demeanor and dry lips. He caressed his forehead in a fit of disbelief swarming with bewilderment. What else could this man have concluded to? The puzzling thought made the master breathless with laughter.

Ahote's laughter would cease, leaving Ahote's voice no longer as heavy and hard as before, but now that of his tickled self with a certain harshness heaved from the depths of his heart. The lightness that shrouded him quickly corroded into solemnity and gloom, as his sharp eyes pried against an upset Aemon. "I wonder how small we look from your moral high ground? Listen, Aemon," Ahote started, sighing from the bottom of his stomach, "the reality of it is that if you won't do it, someone else surely will. Besides, it isn't my job to punish the "scum" you speak about. It is my job, howbeit, to make sure we are finely equipped with as much as our technology allows us, and for that, we require easily accessible resources." Ahote slunk back into his chair again with a hopeless look striking his eyes, as if disappointment had manifest at its finest.

His feet began to tap again as he leaned back, "It's frightening that someone such as yourself has the guts to lecture me on morals. Truly amazing." Ahote began to giggle again at the disbelief of it all, peering over the self-destructing Aemon to look at the clearly intoxicated (or at least hungover) Aeluri and Iris. He beckoned them inside with his idling gaze, and opened his lips again, "You two wouldn't mind doing this favor for me, would you?"

Violet eyes soaked in the situation, making inferences and assumptions where information was lacking. It seemed the angry man and the girl he kept eyeing on the other side of the door frame were under the impression that this was a heroic guild, or at least filled with people with good morals. Where ever did they get a crazy idea like that? Iris snickered to himself, finding the notion amusing. "Aelu," he hissed, clearly mirthful and still a bit buzzed as he leaned toward her black-curtained ear, "They think this dark guild punishes scum...like it isn't made of scum..." the currently cross-dressed man mused, finding the whole disagreement bafflingly ironic. Aemon had been bamboozled?

Once beckoned inside by the sardonic master they served, Iris gracefully stepped inside and leaned against one of the walls, crossing his arms. The eye in the jar on the shelf didn't go unnoticed. In fact, it held him in rapture until Ahote posed his question. "No, I don't have a problem...but can I have some of their eyes, first? The ones who haven't hit puberty may be a little small, but they'll still work~" the beautiful drunk purred, cheeks flushing a little just at the though of such an influx to his collection. An excited, albeit dark smirk materialized on his moisturized pout. "Ah, the untapped potential of youth, free from icky cataracts and glaucoma...it's only fair that I'd take a fourth of them in payment, right?" Iris mused, raking his shiny nails across the exposed flesh of his mid drift. "The young and undiseased would make for better control samples, anyway."

    Hopeful

Remaining silent was a challenge, but she knew that speaking up and tossing her opinions and ideals into a situation that wasn't hers to deal with in the first place would only cause more strife. What Ahote said in reply to her inquiry wasn't something she hadn't expected. Her relationship with the kid was perfectly screwed, unmendable one might say and she'd not like to worsen it by letting her smart mouth get the best of her. So she only hummed lowly, and averted her eyes in slight. Her goal here was not to add to the conflict, but to keep her partner from doing something he might regret with an audience present, whatever that might be. He was still unpredictable to her and even though she didn't give two shits if the guild master died at his hands, the rest of her so-called... guild mates hadn't done anything to harm her. They hadn't given her any reason to think they deserved to die. Yet.

Next to her, she could feel Aemon's anger rising, boiling hotter by the second no thanks to Ahote's words. He was extremely tense by her observations and when he looked down at her wordlessly for just a brief moment it was obvious. He could blow up if things got any worse. Overall, the atmosphere of the room would have been... strangely calm. If not for the raging man at the center, it would be just another day in the guild. But because the request had seemingly crossed a line with him everything had been thrown off kilter. This really had nothing to do with her and had it been anyone else, she'd not be here, in this room with these people, witnessing this event. Her reasoning for staying present? Aemon was one of her only friends. And she was loyal to a fault.

She all but ignored the continuation of the 'conversation' around her and made it her responsibility to calm him down. At least a little. So she did the only thing she could think of and subtly touched her knuckles to his where his hand hung at his side.

The contrast of Aemon’s boiling anger to the cold quiet of the guild members occupying Ahote’s quarters set an air of tension so thick Aeluri could almost taste it. If there was something happening in the guild, many members often flocked in to see the commotion. This spectacle was no different. Eager eyes observed the situation, the other Basilisks on their toes as their master poked the bear. Taunting comments and laughter from his mouth only seemed to infuriate Aemon more, despite the presence of a red-haired woman by his side. Even though she didn’t know either of them, Aeluri could tell so far that the two were not very similar to the rest of the guild. They still seemed to have some good in them.

Iris’ comment as he leaned in close made Aeluri release a laugh. “Scum warrants scum,” she replied, nudging her teammate in amusement. Strands of midnight hair were swiped from her face while sharp mismatched eyes latched onto the tall man standing before Ahote. “Oh honey, who mislead you?” came the jab at Aemon, “Or are you so blinded by your own sense of morality that you assumed we care about things like doing good or the well-being of children? How foolish~”

At Ahote’s beckon, the feline summoner approached slowly. Her head was still buzzing from the influence of booze, yet the excitement of the current conflict kept her focus razor sharp. Red and gold hues caught the guildmaster’s topaz gaze, giving a confident stare. “Of course we can,”Aeluri began flippantly, “It should be easy if they don’t scream too much. If there’s any leftovers after the experiments are done, Gemini could always finish off the rest. They’re always hungry.” The thought of the two-headed feline spirit made Aeluri subconsciously twist one of the golden rings on her fingers, a glimmer of affection warming her chest. Seeing the beast eat was always a horrifying spectacle, but a happy spirit makes a happy summoner!

The idea of them wanting children was sickening, but less sickening, perhaps, than them using her. She had managed to age herself beyond that point some how. But that did not make her any less of this guild’s pet. If they did not get the children they wanted, she may very well be on the menu in regards to that. Maybe Ambrosia would stop them. But it was also possible she’d sit back and watch in amusement.

Akeldama edged back quietly, assuming that Ahote had not yet seen her. If she could provide the children Ahote so desired, it was possible that she might get on his good side. This was her chance. Once she deemed herself far enough away she started going quicker. She had to do this, Akeldama thought to herself as she fondled the antique golden watch in her pocket.

This path she was on… It was a dangerous one. But it was the one she was always meant to be on.

    ” “
Was there any actual point to this? Was one of the prime questions that rang through Aemon’s Head. Perhaps deep down he had a sliver of hope that this child would actually come to reason, that Aemon’s protest could sway him. He should have known better as it was made evident by not only the expression made my Ahote but the words that escaped his mouth aimed at the group of snakes that has all slithered into the business at hand. He couldn’t tell if he was being mocked by Ahote referring to Aemon as a good fellow and asked them if they felt the same as he did, if this task was too much for them as well. With the exception of Katherine everyone there spoke up stating that they would have no problem doing this task. He had expected these answers and thus wasn’t surprised by any of the answers that were given. His comment regarding the scum of the world earned replies from some of the onlookers. The man cross dressed as well as the girl known as Aelu spoke to one another, he wasn’t sure if they were whispering or not but he could hear their words. Their points were made solid but he ignored the whispers for now but when he was called foolish a response formed in his mind but he was swayed from commenting on anything she had to say due to Ahote speaking his turn. At first he started with a compliment regarding him as exceptional but trailed off from whatever thought he was going to say and decided to laugh instead. First he attacks Aemon’s character and his perspective of their moral high ground. Ddraig spoke to Aemon telepathically, “They all seem
Small to me. What’s a snake to Dragon.” Aemon choked back a chuckle and he knew if Katherine could have heard what the dragon she would have too. "Moral high ground?" he questioned incredulously. "I’m literally the personification or Morally grey. I’ve taken jobs requests from dark guilds long before I had ever stepped foot in this fortress. More Dark guild contracts than ones from legal guilds. I’ve killed many times. More than care to recall for a job. Whether they deserved it or not was never put into question." he took a breath to calm his voice realizing his anger was still prominent in his tone.

It was clear Ahote wasn’t gonna budge an inch with this and that was fine but he wasn’t going to be the one to do this and walking away was going to be his choice of action but the brat had to open his mouth about how he had the guts to question Ahote on morales. "And it astounds me that someone such as yourself could be so ignorant. Assuming that comment was regarding how I ended up joining your ranks then try not to forget it was a path I put on by you and that scheming mother of yours." and with that he left as Ahote began to ask Aeluri as well as Iris if they would do it for him. What was he to do? While he wasn’t going to actually commit this heinous act could he actually let them do it? He good at killing but he was out numbered here and his fake magic wouldn’t do well for him however he did have a bit of an ace up his sleeve. He made sure to only use his weapons factory to give the illusion that he was a Requip magic user not letting it slip once what his true magic was, the Destruction that the dragon inside of him allowed him to create. However with them not knowing his true power it meant that the element of surprise was in his side. Ddraig, do you think if I go full power off the bat we can catch them off guard as well as destroy the fortress? Aemon asked Ddraig through the shared telepathy again “I could if I were in my original body. However you could destroy a fair amount of should be possible.” Aemon didn’t say another word as his arm reaches around the waist of Katherine who had been by his side and pulled her close to him. ”I who shall awaken." he whispered and that’s when he released it, a burst of red aura cloaked around him releasing a flash of bright light and once it dimmer The white hair, dark skin and the green eyes were replaced with his red dragon armor with gleaming red eyes ]"Red Dragon reclamation!” Ddraig could be heard shouting out as he blasted through the ceiling of the fortress with a pure red beam of pure destruction and with a Katherine in hand flew through the hole until he was flying above the guildhall and then looked down. “Red dragon roar!” A larger blast shot through the hole he had made and once it hit the floor it would explode on impact causing anything in its way to be destroyed. “We had better get out of here while they are distracted by our performance.” Not a word was uttered by Aemon, with Katherine in hand he flew in a random direction away from the fortress.

    Sudden Escape

A breath, good. Please be calm... She glanced up at Aemon as he spoke and now made a noticable effort to keep his anger at bay. Perhaps everything would go smoothly after all. Hopefully. Oh... and now a jab at Famine. Never mind. Katherine eyed his body language, seeing that he was ready to leave and nearly did so without her. She would have followed regardless of if he asked her to or not, purely because she had no business there without him. However, she did not have to act on her own, for as suddenly as she could begin to take a breath he put his arm around her waist and pulled her close. She squeaked quietly in surprise and stared up at him, wanting to speak but being cut off when she heard him utter words that would shock her more than his hold on her person. Oh shit- That armor she'd come to know separated them, but she could still feel his warmth, the only thing that kept her safe as they broke out of the fortress through a hole he'd created. The wind only bit her skin enough to cause slight discomfort and it whipped her hair around her face. She'd use her hand to hold it back as she watched the destruction continue below them in blank awe. What was once a mighty fortress became a mass of ruin and some part of her wanted to smile. But she wouldn't get to take it all in before the place left her sight and she realized something as it did so. She was free again.

The quizzical man simply shrugged at Aemon's wordy protest, insisting that he was capable of doing scum's work. Of course, this couldn't have been true! He'd hesitate to accept this request and would even go as far as storming into the master's quarters to confess his qualms. He was a handsome hypocrite and the thought cracked a smile to Ahote's dry lips. The bitter insult to Famine was nothing infuriating to the idle master, who accepted his words dryly.

Aemon, however, did not idle around long enough to fully behold the man's wicked smile or his exchange with his guildmates, slipping silently into the corridor in which the serpents had poured in from. Ahote would look at the displeased man as he stepped out among the chatter with an equally displeased countenance. His topaz pools would sharpen and smirk would lapse into a frown at this sight, slinking back into his seat with crossed arms. He'd twist the ends of his raven threads around a single fleshy digit, heaving a sigh from the depths of his chest. The man had always been at odds with Aemon, and while he did nothing but fetch him for Famine during their first meeting, Aemon had only bitter memories and feelings at the rather indifferent Guildmaster. Everyone did have limits, it seemed.

Suddenly, a brilliant ray of red light glowed from the corridor, the stygian quarters now bright and shimmering with an apocalyptic hue. A thunderous rumble broke through the ceiling and sent a shiver through the entire fortress, Katherine and Aemon quickly whisking themselves away through whatever gap they had torn for themselves and ascended into the chilly atmosphere. Ahote, however, with a glowering complexion, briskly rose from his and was even quicker to let a full, impressive set of golden armor materialize and shield every space on his body with an equally magnificent lance to follow. Crimson threads draped from the top of his helmet, waving in the winds of the impact and jittering with the visibly wild static popping from his body. Even with his unblemished face veiled by the helmet, his grimacing countenance bled through the perfect plates like a blinding light through a curtained window. While only fragments of the ceiling in his room had been obstructed, he'd look up at the stone. A hair-standing power compelled the agitated man to brace himself silently, his steel eyes only deviating from the shaking ceiling to quickly regard his colleagues. They would most certainly be fine, as they were not so weak! So his gaze returned to the ceiling, gently raising his lance only to thrust its end back into the flooring, his golden grip tightening around its shaft.

Whoosh! With unwincing eyes, Ahote watched as the ancient stone reduced to a dust and pebblelike state as the brilliant wave of red flushed over the fortress and obliterated what any wanderer could see of it. The fortress was now a tomb for the serpents, or what material marks they had made of their guild, and Ahote had only watched bitterly. Silently.

He looked back down from the atmosphere, looking sympathetically at his still present guildmates who were hardly visible through the cloud of dust that settled onto them. Aemon and Katherine had vanished from what he could tell, and the quiet man was left with the remains of his home.

Fortress' Fall Empty Re: Fortress' Fall

Post by Iris 21st October 2018, 1:12 am

This was an...interesting development. It's funny how the beauty and mystery of impending doom and destruction can freeze one in place. Iris was nearly enraptured, even though as far as he knew he could die right here. He wasn't done living. He had a MC butthead to kill to get his eyes back. It didn't feel right dying before he was back in one piece officially, yet he could only stand and watch as Aemon literally blew them up with the fortress while he flew off into the sunset with his woman. Wide violet eyes watched as Ahote prepared himself in armor, also not running or otherwise attempting to deflect or stop the damage to the snake guild's home. Aelu was still here as well, and for all his darkness and questionable moments, she jumped to the front of his mind. It was one thing for him to stop and stare at the wonder of potential death flare coming for him, but she was too beautiful a creature to fall to obliteration.

In one smooth step, he turned his back to the ruined ceiling, curving his body around her like he was her personal bubble shield. Oooh, the pain was delicious. Maybe just a shade more than his preferred level, but he'd take it. Dying happy was the better way to go, and a lot of happiness was a choice. Perhaps if Aelu looked closely enough, she'd catch something between a grimace and a smile on his face as the explosion came for him and he endured it for her. A groan of effort left his lips as his body tried to withstand the force, but he knew it would be too much in the end. His footing came loose and the solid weight of his body blew into her for just a second before there was...nothing. He poofed into a cloud of vapor, Aemon's attack blowing the weightless particles beyond his team mate and dispersing them amongst the rubble and smoke.

Once the dust literally settled and whoever was left standing was thrust into a confusing environment of varying sizes of debris, Iris was no where to be found. However, there was a strange coalescing shadow behind a large chunk of stone. It fluctuated as if to some sort of foreign heartbeat. It was thin and hard to pick up at first, but given a couple minutes more and more molecules gathered, making the shadow take more of a gaseous state of galactic hues. Deep purples and blues, brilliant fuschia and cerulean, an area of black at the center... it all swirled and steadily turned opaque. Two yellow orbs popped open. "Hnnng...do it again~" it muttered, two appendages sticking out of a more central blob of space gas. It bobbed around dazedly before shaking what, for all intents and purposes, was its head. "Ouchie...I like it rough, but that might have been almost too much..."

Aemon’s anger was like boiling water, bubbling in angry turbulence until it overflowed. The reaction came as a surprise to Aeluri. Despite kindling the fire, she expected such a warrior such as he to have more self control. Even a not-so-darkie would find it morally reprehensible to torch a den of unsuspecting snakes, right?

The answer came in the form of an immense beam of red light. In a split second everything changed around Aeluri. As the onslaught advanced, Ahote armored up in cold, calculating silence. Dust obscured her view of the remaining guild members in the room, but it was too late to be of any concern. Destruction seemed to happen in slow motion before her eyes, gray stone crumbling to dust and debris under the power of Aemon’s attack. The floor rumbled from the impact, knocking the summoner off balance and delaying the train of thought that would have lead her to save herself. Suddenly a tall, lean form was curled around her petite one, protecting her as a sugary-smelling meatshield. “Iris?” Aleuri gasped as his back was hit with brunt force, his groan of pain resounding above her head. Realizing what her teammate had done, the summoner swiftly raised her left hand and flicked her wrist. From the shadows of the rolling rubble materialized Leonard, a dark gray feline summon with a silver mask. Just after Iris’ body flew into her, the cat reached towards Aeluri, sinking his claws into her shoulder and pulling the young woman into the nearest shadow. Summoner and feline melded into the dark space, becoming one with the shadow like liquid.

Aeluri watched impatiently as things slowly settled, eyes piercing the murky room in search of her guildmates. From their vantage point not much of the room was visible at all. She was unsure about the fate of the other Basilisks, but their home was done for. Thoughts raced as she cradled her left hand, which had been damaged when she summoned Leonard. Girl and feline peered into the room from their shadowy hideaway.

    Watching.

    Waiting.

Fortress' Fall Empty Re: Fortress' Fall

Post by Ahote 26th October 2018, 11:06 am

Rays of sunshine trickled through the thick cloud of dust that settled atop the mountain and spread about the debris so spaciously that one could see it from the foot of Hakobe. Although the man gorgeously plated in gold could not see anything, the prisonlike fortress walls were nothing more than remnants of their ancient hall now as a light that could not pierce the familiar stone now bled through the dust in trickled into his eyes. All of his achievements, trophies, and memories were now the dust and pebbles that crunched beneath his heel.

A brief moment of stillness and silence overcame the man as he withstood the obliteration, staring fixedly at the ground beneath him. He could not even see the ripped and worn crimson rug he was so accustomed to tottering on beneath the debris if it were even there anymore or the stains he could never scrub out. His gaze would shift to various particulars of room blasted to smithereens with a striking familiarity, looking at them as if his carefully organized shelves or seasoned nightstand still remained there, untouched, unbothered. Reaching, Ahote grabbed a handful of quarters that once were his own, the dirt and dust slipped through his fingers like a fine sand. Gusts of melancholy consumed him and sheltered him in a demeanor of a man who's lost his most precious peculiarities as he watched it slip through his fingers.

An eternal briefing of loss flushed into a rage, his fingers rolling into his palm and the dust crunching in the fist before he tossed it away with a sudden jerk! With haste, he rushed forward, looking and groping for the several colleagues that had supposedly withstood the destruction with him. Space became dark again as he marched into the alleged hallway, and the petite and pretty figure of Aeluri now shimmered amongst the dirt.

Ahote stared silently for only a few heartbeats before heaving a sigh from his chest, riddled with relief and trembling as if tears gathered in the corners of his eyes, yet none could confirm this with such an extravagant helmet shielding his features. "Oh, Aeluri. . ." he sighed once more, crouching down and placing a single hand atop her scalp, stroking it gently, "you're alright. . ." he'd say in his usual solemnity, and yet his tongues fluttered with emotion greater than before.

His gaze would wonder, however, in search of another familiar partner to the petite Aeluri. After moments of search, he'd repeat this again with a sense of panic in his jittered movements. "And Iris? Akeldama? Where is Akeldama? Akily. . ." he'd hop up from his crouched posture, skipping outwardly from Aeluri, yet coming back to that same space when he strayed too far in vain. His voice was a myriad of ire and anxiety, like the quiet, soft man the basilisks were so familiar in seeing.

Fortress' Fall Empty Re: Fortress' Fall

Post by Iris 27th October 2018, 1:31 am

Looking at his own gaseous 'hands', Iris took a moment to freak out. The freak out was mostly silent except for a long "what the heck?" as he bobbed in the air, looking down and seeing no feet. He felt like himself. At first he suspected his bottom half had actually been blown away in the blast, but he was able to move and was a distance from the ground inconsistent with that line of thought. Without a mirror he wasn't actually certain what had happened. His memory had always been fuzzy beyond a certain point on his past, but the more he dwelled on the state of his body, or lack thereof, the more it seemed like this was fine. Being a colorful ball of space gas had once been normal, hadn't it? How could he have forgotten something like that?

Floating his black smiley face toward the other two survivors, he worked on figuring out how to reclaim a human form. These molecules he was made of were very flexible in the way they came together. When he was in human form, he was just about as human as anyone else. "Everyone okay?" he asked in a wispy, higher pitched voice. It seemed to echo as if space and time had a hard time holding onto the sound waves. Yellow eyes squinted in concentration, and POP! The galaxy form exploded out and reformed back into the lilac haired man they were accustomed to. Whew, that was better.

Oh..wait. Just as he'd been about to return his hands nonchalantly to his pockets as if their home hadn't just been blown off the mountain top, Iris doubled over and landed hard on his knees. Vicious coughs wracked his ribs hard enough to bruise, and it felt like he was being torn from the inside out. As blood spattered what was left of the stone hewn floor, he was certain his lungs were trying to escape and tried to move back to his painless space gas self. It didn't work, and while pain wasn't something he historically hated, it was far less fun when someone else wasn't actively causing it. After a few more wet chokes, he hacked up a small piece of debris. It must have gotten blown into his other form and gotten stuck, thus remaining inside his human form. That was something to look out for in the future...

Slowly staggering back to his feet, he smeared the blood from his lips with the back of his hand. He reached out as if to lean on Aelu, feeling rather injured but trying to shake it. "Charming fellow, Aemon.... so what now, Ahote?" he addressed their armored leader, genuinely wondering how they'd recover from losing their guild hall. And it wasn't even in fighting the magic council or a legal guild, but from an internal squabble. How lame...

As the guildmaster had approached her dusty form, the sunlight dimly shining through the broken ceiling had created a golden glow off of his magnificent armor. To a small, injured, shadowy woman, it was a sight of hope. A sign that, like a hydra, the serpents would rise from the rubble and survive tenfold, rearing their heads in defiance. At the gentle touch of Ahote’s armored hand on her head, Aeluri closed her mismatched eyes for a brief moment, as close to tears as she had been since her youth. Yet, the pale, dust-covered face remained as neutral as ever. Neither pain nor despair could break such a stony expression.

”We can only hope that the rest got out in time…” she sighed woefully, watching Ahote’s frantic search for their other guildmates. Scrambling to her feet, the young woman hissed quietly when white-hot pain shot through her hand. It would be near impossible to find bandages in the rubble, so for now the young woman just had to suck it up. For a few moments, the settling of the broken building was the only sound. Then, from down the hallway came Iris’ familiar, yet strangely high-pitched voice. The sight of a sparkly, talking, colorful cloud of who-knows-what with a face froze Aeluri in place, brows raised curiously. The summoner could only watch as it changed into her teammate with a little pop. “I-Iris?” she asked incredulously while he hacked up a bloody chunk of the building. “I honestly thought you died, you pretty idiot,” laughed the summoner, rushing over to provide support to the lean man. The survival and presence of Ahote and Iris was more relieving than Aeluri would ever admit.

Fortress' Fall Empty Re: Fortress' Fall

Post by Ahote 2nd November 2018, 10:50 am

The cloud of dust refused to sway away from the serpents no matter how violent or abrupt their movements and impaired their delicate eyes from indentifying one another with an absolute certainty. Even though there would be no soul present in the fortress that weren't Basilisks, there was a feeling of unfamiliarity and alienation that settled in Ahote's heart and made him wonder if the ne'er-do-wells were truly left to their lonesome or now. The dust was both suffocating and overwhelmingly lonely.

His wet gaze took grasp upon an awfully strange and gaseous figure, who Aeluri claimed to be none other than their dearly beloved Iris Esperanza. The form was already incomplete from Ahote's impaired view, leaving him bewildered into speechlessness. But the nonchalance of his mannerisms and the peach-sweetness of his tone reassured the distraught man that this was indeed dearest Iris Esperanza. Still, he'd simply wonder if this were the true form of Iris and would then question the particulars of his existence. But after the bewilderment came lapping waves of relief, feeling compelled to come upon him with an embrace wider than he'd ever think he could. But instead, he laid a hand over his heart and sighed.

"I make lots of enemies, don't I?" he laughed cheerlessly, tilting his head side to side whilst mumbling this. "S'pose now we find somewhere to stay, everyone." his mumbling reduced to a disgruntled huffing and puffing, like a child who succumbed to their obligation to do chores. He'd tap the butt of his lance into the ground rhythmically, like the tempo of his thought riddling through the atmosphere. Moments passed and the tapping would increase until it became incessant, a humming sound rumbling from his through and his golden fingers pinching the chin veiled with gorgeous armor until the tapping had stopped and he'd jerk up in a click of jovial. His grin bled through the golden plates, "You guys like road trips, right? It'll be just like that. This destruction is a shiny window of opportunity for us!" he exhumed, leaning over Aeluri and the strange Iris, "Aemon and Katherine will most surely be punished for this obliteration, but don't you all tire of this fortress anyway?"

Fortress' Fall Empty Re: Fortress' Fall

Post by Iris 5th November 2018, 8:41 pm

The lips of the newly discovered ball of space fumes parted into a lopsided grin, casting his eyes sideways to the petite ebony locked girl. "Aw, Aelu, you think I'm pretty?" he drawled in a pure-toned tease. The grin faltered slightly as his wheeze resurfaced. Must be more guild hall stuck in his beautiful and complicated lungs. "It'll take more," his words paused to hack up a lung again, "to kill me, beautiful~" he finished, wishing it had sounded smoother, but it was what it was.

He had just begun mulling over how in the world he forgot what he was when their master and chief spoke up. The armored man was happy to see him, a rare treat to see something other than concealed thoughts and brooding. Iris winked at him, but turned thoughtful as the subject of guild halls was brought up and expounded on. "Yeah, this place was the pits. Went out of style ages ago...and always musty. Ugh. A road trip on to something better sounds like a fun time, as long as we can bring the booze!"

Fortress' Fall Empty Re: Fortress' Fall

Post by Ahote 9th November 2018, 8:44 pm

For someone who looked to be coughing up bits and pieces of theirselves, Iris seemed awfully nonchalant about the damage he sustained. Despite this, Ahote could not resist the endearing charm in his words and felt a bitter, involuntary smile crack his own lips. Even if his relief couldn't piece his golden plates, his soft tut-tut sorts of snickers certainly did.

With an invigorated thrust, Ahote pointed his lance westward, though anything in the west couldn't be seen through the fog of dust. But the shiniest tip of his blade glimmered in what sunlight had kissed it, flickering much like a beacon in a dark room, or at least through the small slits that he viewed through. With a quiet enthusiasm, Ahote raised his voice impatiently, "Then let us be off now, friends. You all need the exercise anyway. . ."

With that, Ahote flipped and kicked debris away with an exciting force, no longer heavied with the burdens of losing and home and instead uplifted in finding a new one. The serpents trailed behind him, some taking longer than others, and others changing paths and eventually returning to the group. Their journey would be an interesting one.
