It was an endless source of fascination for Esialeth to watch personalities twist, faces crumple. To watch people go from pleasant to downright grotesque. Of course, she thought, such happenings must always be observed secondhand, lest she found herself on the recieving end of a resaurant-goer's ire.

Thus why Esialeth never did waitressing.

Today's job, she was told, would be different: a low-key exchange to establish a rapport between members of Black Rose and Basilisk Fang. Of course, given the job descripition, Esialeth gathered that it would be just as bad, if not worse, than waitressing, but with a shiny paycheck.

What could she do but accept?

Esialeth found herself dressed in an impeccably clean, pressed ensemble, eternally grateful for the restaurant's magical cooling systems. The sky was overcast, as if sensing her foreboding; Esialeth rechecked her weapons (dagger, amulet of protection hidden under her shirt), and reminded herself to stay calm. Establishing a rapport was the main goal, but it was even more crucial to not show weakness.

Esialeth stood, half cast in shadows and half illuminated by dim gray light, and waited.

The Dreamweaver had been informed that they needed to go make friends with their new ally, the guild of roses. The being of surreality had been present when the legal guild had stormed into their fortress but had declined the option of interacting with anyone. Instead, the nightmare had quietly sat back to consume the tension that they could and listen on. Now, however, they would be faced with the opportunity of meeting the shady legal guild themselves.

Black Rose and Basilisk Fang were at least trying to make friends, but the fact that the Dreamweaver had been selected to interact with their new allies was a spell for trouble. The nightmare looked forward to what they had to offer, however, but would not promise to keep out of trouble. Action and commotion were the reason they had landed in Reality in the first place, after all. Taking their preferred form of a blonde haired woman with green eyes and casual attire, the Dreamweaver made their way down Silver Moon Boulevard and soon arrived at the fancy Silver Moon Inn.

Backlit by the overcast skies, the grinning Dreamweaver entered the inn, her Basilisk Fang guildmark hidden from public view. Upon shutting the door behind her, emerald eyes gazed at the better-dressed raven-haired Black Rose member alongside the others in the building. “Sup,” she began, not overly fond of formalities for the present situation. “Name’s Veronika,” the blonde continued, lifting her right hand to show the back of it to the legal mage. The shape of a snake’s head colored in yellow flashed over her pale skin briefly before vanishing from sight once again. She was indeed the Basilisk Fang member they had been expecting, ready to receive a fresh ‘meal’ they had offered earlier in the official exchanges.

As many weeks recently have been, Seth's schedule had been completely booked. Ever since being promoted to ace, it's been coerce him, blackmail her, investigate them, paperwork this, splintering mental capacity that. Needless to say, he deflected some of the workload on any other guild-mate. Planning multiple bond building events and organizing ~secret~ cross legality dine ins.

His close friend, actually, Esialeth Rose, was one of the first to sign up. Such a small job but it really does make a difference. Whatever hell borne spirit that walks through the door was to be made friends with and treated like royalty. He, simply, as the person who commissioned the act, was there to supervise. To make sure that bonding gets done, and as backup in case... Things go poorly. And he wanted to be there for his friend. After her recent hiatus, they need any social time they can get.

He stands in the background, running the lively bar, making drinks as well as keeping a mindful eye on the exchange between the two opposite mages. Esialeth should know. Who knows if the Basilisk Fang mage would, though. He never told anyone in the opposing guild. He shrugs. Maybe it is for the better if they're unaware of an overseer. It might be needless to say, otherwise, being sat directly inside the grand HQ of Black Rose. He's not wearing his uniform (at all, actually) and is probably violating all sorts of health codes. His (long) hair is untied, sweeping everywhere and probably getting in all sorts of foodstuffs, he's wearing an open-chested sweatshirt, and a pair of 'whatever' leggings. Between making drinks and charming the public, he acknowledges the mage who walked in. A glimpse of blonde hair is all he sees before he has to serve a customer. Hopefully whatever happens, happens smoothly.

Mayumi had been hanging out in the Silver Moon Inn serving customers for a while now. It wasn't something she normally did. Oh, she'd done it once, when she'd first joined the guild. But she'd quickly decided she did not like being on waitress duty. She had better ways to serve her guild, especially now that she had joined the secret mafia that Black Rose housed. Her recent spying mission had proven her value there. But today would test the other skill she had offered up to the organization- the ability to put on a good face and make the right impression.

See, Black Rose was secretly trying to ally with the dark guild Basilisk Fang. Of course, no one could know about this. But in order to establish good feelings between the guilds, an invitation had been made for Basilisk Fang members to come to the Silver Moon Inn for a free meal- served, of course, by a Black Rose mage. Or in this case, a few Black Rose mages. She'd heard one of the dark mages was going to be stopping by today, which was why she was working in the inn today.

The blonde girl noticed their visitor as soon as she flashed the Basilisk Fang guildmark. So that was the dark mage, huh? She didn't look like much, but then again, looks could be deceiving. Mayumi smoothed down her skirt. The girl had taken a simple approach for the day, considering her job- black skirt, white button-down shirt. Nothing remarkable, but it did suit its purpose in making her own beauty shine through. Her own guildmark, placed on the side of her neck, was very visible. She crossed to the dark mage, catching her name in the process.

"Hello Veronika. I'm Mayumi. Please, sit wherever you'd like. Can I get you something to drink?"

Mayumi had swooped in before Esialeth could respond, and had she been part of a casual converstion, Esialeth might have been offended. As it was, she was perfectly fine with letting Mayumi handle the pleasantaries, if only to savor a moment's respite before the real work started.

It was apparent through her greeting and style of dress that Veronika cared little for formalities. Fine. Preferable, even. But Esialeth needed to play her cards right: she had no idea what the dark mage was capable of, and although fairly proficient in her magic, she was fairly certain that she would not be able to call upon it now, aside from using it for the most mundane of tasks; it was almost as if a team of moderators in her brain decided that she could not express her magic until the time came. When that was, Esialeth had no idea.

Regardless, Esialeth was getting paid to establish a rapport. She pulled up a chair and leaned forward to appear interested yet composed; she was careful to avoid the grave mistake of Edgy Backwards Chair Sitting lest she cringe to death on principle.

She stole a glance at Seth, who was violating the dress code as usual; she was sure he could probably handle the dark mage should the need arise, but she rather preferred to keep things discreet. Classy, sexy. You know how it is.

But back to the task at hand. She felt a pang of anxiety; her lack of awareness as to how the dark mage would act set her on edge. But if Veronika respected her guild at all, she would likely cooperate. If not, well...Esialeth could always spin the situation in her favor. But her first task was to gather information and be prepared when Mayumi came back with the drinks.

"So, Veronika, you are aware of the purpose of this engagement, yes?"
