Kiru stood out near the front of the slow wooden ship, along its bow. A hand on the railing as he cyan gaze scanned the fog before her, her senses carefully tuned to the surroundings as the boat trudged along the calm waves. It had been a while since she returned to this place. How long had it been exactly now? 1 year, maybe 2? She couldn't remember exactly, but no matter the length in time, she still remembered it all. From the smell of fish, and the taste of salt in the air. As it came into view, Kiru's thoughts trailed back to her first time seeing the island. Lavantir. Popular port island for all things sea related. Whether it be trade or fishing, this little island was the hub of it all. But it also had been something else. Her home. Not her original home of course, even Kiru didn't know where that was. But this place shared a special place in her heart. The first location of her guild, and the original home of many of the guild's inhabitants. Black Rose started out small on this little island. At the time, the place wasn't much, but everyone had thought of it equally as their true home. Sadly, it did not stay that way forever. The event with the malfunctioning robot had completely changed the guild forever. Their guildhall destroyed, and dozens of the guild wizards dead. They had no choice but to move to another place. Lavantir was no longer famous for the esteemed wizarding guild that once stood tall on the horizon. Nobody ever looked at the guildhall looming on top of the island with the hopes of fulfilling their dreams of becoming a wizard. In the old guild hall's place was simply a memorial. Dedicated to the brave wizards that gave their life to defend the guild from the rampaging machine. Kiru wished she could've done more at the time. If she had maybe focused on saving the lives of her comrades instead of fighting the robot herself, more could've survived the slaughter. Not that it mattered now, though. For now all she could do was pay her respects to the family she had said goodbye too. And now she was doing just that. The only reason Kiru was here was to honor the dead members of her guild. The ones that welcomed the young woman with split coloured hair as she walked in there alone and afraid for the first time 2 years prior. It didn't seem like many members of the guild these days remembered, or were even apart of that horrible scar in the guild's past. But Kiru was. She remembered every single detail. She would be damned if she let them fade from memory.

Many people had no idea where the Ace had gone, but for those that were curious would've found a note on her door explaining the situation. She had taken a few days off to travel to Lavantir and pay her respects, because it didn't appear anyone else would. She hitchhiked to the coast of Fiore, than bought a pass on the ferry which took her to Lavantir. Most of the people on the large boat with her were fishermen and traders. Many were also carpenters and ship builders. In addition to being the sea trading hub this side of the continent, it was also a rather busy ship yard. The ferry had drawn closer to the island now, Kiru staring at it as it passed by other large ships of fishermen and privateers. Many people from both the shoreline and the passing boats gave the girl many strange stares. She kinda stood out. If her black and white hair wasn't enough, her outfit would be. She wore her usual robes, but they had also been an even mix of the two shades, with a bright cyan outline. She payed little to no mind though, by this point Kiru was far too used to being stared at.

Finally, the boarding ramp lowered on the docks, and a line of people came walking out. Kiru followed soon, coming near the back of the line as she stepped onto the wooden dockyards observing the large amounts of fishermen, boats, and seagulls that flew around endlessly in the sky above. Smokestacks could be seen rising in the distance, and Kiru recognized almost everything. She took a moment to take it all in before facing forward again and walking down the dockyard. Several minutes later, Kiru had been climbing up many steps towards the center of the city. Her face blank and expressionless as she stared ahead. Finally making her way up to the final steps, she came across it. A large open courtyard, fenced off from the rest of the city. It was neat and tidy. No evidence of city pollution was here, and that is how she expected it. In the center of the courtyard was a single pillar, rising about 15 feet off the ground. Carved into it was a simple crest. Her guild mark. Upon seeing it, the sky began to turn dark. Black clouds slowly formed overhead and rain began to fall lightly at first. It soon fell heavier, but despite the angry look of the clouds, there was no lightning... No thunder. Just rain. The sound of the water hitting the stone slabbed ground and pillar were the only sounds Kiru could hear. Everything else was dead silent. She walked up to it, taking a knee in the wet ground. She bowed her head and let her hair soak in front of her face as she placed her hand on the plaque that was situated at the base of the monument. It listed the names of all the fallen wizards who gave their lives to defend both the guild, and the entire city from certain destruction. She said nothing, and did nothing else. She simply knelt there, staring at the names with her hand resting lightly upon the white marble. The rain being her only comfort at this moment...

Lavanitir Port City, the last time he had stepped foot in the city it had been an interesting experience, soon after going through immense changes to his life the tall man had been summoned to the aid of a city in need, being known to a fair few within the city had caused those who knew of his residence within a local in to drag him out from his relaxation. That time had been amusing and horrific, fighting something which he had very little memory of, only scars were the church he had ruined and a few needle marks on one arm. After tracking a few down strangers spoke of what had happened, only confusing him more as to what the true events were. Unsavory indeed that was a memory in which he had no positive notions towards. Static which haired flickered suddenly, shaking across his face as the thoughts were shook away. It would do little good to think in such a way. No matter, he was here now, dressed casually for once with earthy hues of brown reminding him of the soils from home. Home, it was an odd concept which changed with time and who you asked, whilst he had many homes there was one place he thought of when the emotional word was resurfaced in his mind. Memories whispering in his ear, images of soft winds rustling crops and bringing scents of harvest back to the house which he was born in, clovers for which the city was named after visible through traditional windows of a family space crammed with books, photos and scraps of paper with sketches varying in skill. Childhood, young days before he was mature, cribs and floating shapes above his bed to help him sleep. Sunsets which brought the evil monsters and dawns which vanquished all evil from the world. Although not the home he thought of initially it was still worthy of being called home. Neat and quaint, yet not cramped he remembered it as a wondrous farmhouse out of some fairy tale. Teenage days, even the later years of his childhood. What did that make five or six years perhaps. What decided if he could consider somewhere to be home? Was it time, months compared to years or was it a bond or a connection? Humans much like plants relied on the relationships with those who were around them to succeed. It was probably something to do with how closely one was tied with the place to tell if they truly called it home or not. His Grandparents was his second home, often travelling there between jobs or taking a holiday there he felt most comfortable expressing himself with the elderly family who had learned to love a man like his Grandfather. A small room came to mind, sun filtering into the room lighting up specks of dust as it shone across bookshelves with potted ferns, their luscious dark foliage cascading down each shelf. Soft bed by the window allowing him to read late into the evening however it would have been the desktop lamp which would encourage late nights of study and research, it had been the first time that Lester had a room of his own, it was small, shoved to the side of an otherwise neat layout next to the shop floor of the florists, smooth wooden floorboards cleaned everyday with the young lad. Gathering the scents of pollen and nectar around him it was a memory that came to mid easily. That place, yes, it held much in his heart.

Yet was it not his second, current guild? The first had lasted four months, Black Rose, an odd place which he had learned more about as time passed. It would have been dangerous for him to continue there however at the time would he have left the guild if the choice had been left up to him? Lester doubted it, despite being glad of the loyalty changes he doubted his former self to step away from the organization had someone not forcefully encouraged him to do so. A hand ran through his hair, smoothing it back as his head tilted to take the sun into his gaze. It was quite the guild indeed, his home. It was a word which he felt casual and confident in attaching to the travelling ship. Crystal Swan, what had it been three or four months already? Perhaps four or more, the worlds often seemed to swirl together inside his head. Yet it was nearing or passed the four month mark, Black Rose has been his residence for an entire four months, would it last longer than that or perhaps was he destined to only be contained for four months at a time. No no, it was indeed for Black Rose that he had initially come here, after being given a choice of locations one of his last escort jobs had left him in the city, meandering without reason seemed rather useless. Normally he would simply take up another job which would deposit him to another place.

Weariness, it showed like a wilted flower beneath his eyes as the mage drew a soft chocolate brown blazer closer around him, the hits of pink beneath. he had dropped his bags at a small inn earlier, only a small bag his staff and a scarf remained around his hip. Yet there were times when that was all he needed, large amounts of baggage only weighed him down when all he needed was an iLac, some money, a scarf and an over sized stick. His feet simply took him around he portside city, it was one that he wouldn't think of as a tourist destination, yet he had more energy bundled up in the form of emotions which he needed to channel into an activity. Who knows perhaps a circus was hiring performers. Lester Drynedi the elephant lifting florist. A slight chuckle escaped him during his stroll as the thought of someone asking the flower boy 'bro do you even lift' and them himself simply raising a bar with two cannonball like elephants attached to the end. This place, he needed something to focus on before his mind started congealing. Honestly who had dreams of lifting elephants unless something was off about their thought patterns.

Clouds gathered, natural for a country of magic the speed at which they closed in was one commonly experienced by fiore, encouraging Lester to take the coat resting over his bag straps and swirl it around letting the protective fabric flutter around him and settle across his shoulders. Hood flipped up in time as the small ropes tied it closed neatly. It didn't start off as a splattering, the rain so close to the sea simply came as a sheet, softly appearing above him instantly drowning the cobbles underfoot in tiny rivers. Dulled blossom eyes swept across the skies seeing little hope of it letting up, the rain drove people inside, yet with his residence here being in an inn it was sure to be full of robust conversations filling every corner with sound and voice. It put him off a little, the rowdiness which would await him at the building if he were to return. With with a waterproofed cloak protecting him from the rain surely he would be alright to stay outside as log as his body temperature didn't drop too much. His feet took him on pathways unknown until there seemed to be a trail of memories leading him somewhere, stories told to him of a place in this port city. It wasn't familiar, yet after it sprouting up in conversation the odd directions seemed to blossom in his mid like a map, leading to a rather relaxing place. Yet eerier at the same time as it currently housed only one other and a rather large bit of rock. He stood in the entrance to the area for a brief moment, allowing the entirety of it all to be cast under his gaze, the guildmark on the obelisk like memorial confirming his initial thoughts. Soft white hair swayed to the side as he unconsciously let his fingers dance up to his eyelid where a new guildmark lay. The rose vanished from his ankle months ago.

They looked familiar, probably from Black Rose here to pay their respects, it was an appearance which would be hard to forget so the youth figured that perhaps they had seen each other around the guildhall. Hand softly brushing the ground a small flock of carnations in soft muted hues of the dawn and dusk stretched forth, bursting ope from their buds into tiny fireworks. A neat pair of scissors to trim them off and one of the many ribbons he ended up tying around his wrists stretched around the simplistic bouquet. It was nice, a little rough perhaps yet the soft colours suited the occasion of rain shimmering down onto them. Inappropriate almost, he felt no need to spoke as he took a few steps forward to lay the bundle of memories at the ground. Although he had know none of them there was never an event i the world which didn't affect a person. Whether it be an old friend or his mentor the deaths of some of these people would surely have contributed to the way that he lived today. "My condolences, Kiru- right?" Had he gotten the name right? Cherry eyes wandering to the side of him where the other was. Perhaps he could convince her to retreat from the weather, or at least accept his coat.

Kiru continued to sit in silence as the rain pelted the surrounding area. By now her hair had been soaked, dripping on the ground below her shadow. Her hand had not moved from the small plaque, for some reason she couldn't will herself to do so. In all the years Kiru had experienced, this feeling she had inside her was somewhat... Different. She couldn't quite describe it. While her face continued to stair ahead with empty blankness, she was indeed not feeling the way she looked. Something that rarely happened with the demon slayer. She actually felt sorrowful now, remembering the faces she had briefly forgotten about during her time away from the small island where her guild originated from. Despite the feelings she felt now, however, she was still glad she had come. Kiru needed this. To remember the fallen. It wasn't something she could ignore any longer or forget. As far as she was concerned, this trip had been well spent. Well. Almost. She still had a few loose ends to tie here that had been long overdue, and the time was getting late. However, something strange would happen Kiru was not expecting.

Someone else had come, and they didn't simply move on like many of the other people who Kiru had heard walk by. Someone else had actually stopped. It was when the voice of the young man mentioned her by name, Kiru's interest finally piqued. She lifted her head slightly, standing up straight again, removing her hand from the plaque. She turned silently to stare at Lester straight in his red eyes. Her own bright blue still half open, but not at all less interested. She did not say anything at all, but simply stared at him. She had seen him before. His appearance seemed very familiar to the demon slayer. It took her a moment, but then she remembered. He had indeed been a member of her guild at one point. Although she couldn't exactly place his name. Strange. He might've been a member for only a short period of time. Although recently Kiru had been somewhat neglecting the social aspect of her position within the guild. She rarely interacted with new members, or had time to learn anything about them. That was mostly her fault though. Nonetheless, the man seemed to know who she was, or at least he somewhat knew. By the tone of his voice, he didn't seem overly sure if what he said was truth or not.

After a long hard stare into his eyes, Kiru's cyan gaze finally looked down to the flowers. It made more sense now. He had also come to pay his respects to the dead. That fact alone made Kiru happy. Even if this man had not been there during the events that had transpired on Lavantir two years prior, he was still kind enough to show his gratitude. Even if it wasn't his guild anymore. That much Kiru knew for sure. Without saying anything, the ace looked back up at him and nodded slightly, confirming that he had not messed up her name.

"You must've been part of my guild at one point as well, weren't you." Kiru said in a tone that sounded more like a statement than a question. "I have returned to the guild's home to pay my respects. I commend you for doing the same. Even if you no longer bare the mark." She stated flatly. Despite how her voice sounded, she was being quite genuine. She was truly happy to see that others cared, no matter where they came from, or who their allegiance was too.

Had it been wrong to approach this place, whilst he knew what it was, there was no strong emotions that he connected with the place, his gift here had been one of respect for those he knew who had been affected. Yet from the gaze that was turned onto him this was a person who had known and seen the horrors, an experience he was gladdened to not have was something which she had lived through. Probably burying half of her friends and associates along the way. A half step back, he moved slightly to give her some space as she seemed to stand in an almost doll like fashion. Her hand drawn away from the memorial, she stood a few foot shorter than him, yet Lester could not say that the woman lacked presence, there was something about the way that she seemed to hold his gaze which left him doubting the truth of himself. He surely had nothing that interesting about his eyes which could cause someone to stare at them for a while. Yet it wasn't a wide eyed gaze of surprise, yet it didn’t seem to be one of curiosity. Almost judgement, he could be wrong and probably was yet the way that she didn’t fully open them left him with the idea that she had a few thoughts in her head which he would rather not hear. Lester's eyes softened with his face when he let his shoulders and back relax slightly, she had glanced down, taking in the small cluster of blooms he had left. A small nod followed, there were no other words needed yet, that had confirmed enough for him.

It was a very formal way of speaking, how she noted his prior life then commending him for his presence. Commend, that was a word he rarely heard. A smile formed on his face as his head dipped in thanks for the acknowledgement. It was only, fair, whilst he knew her name and guild there was the flipside. ”Lester Drynedi, I was a member of Black Rose for a short time before departing with Desirée, I am now part of Crystal Swan.” Voice soft as his left eyelid flickered close to reveal the new guildmark he bore, it sat nicely, a small swan in light shades of green highlighted with a silver. Perhaps it had been odd of him to come here, yet there were no feelings of regret residing within him. Brows slightly drawn together as he shot a glance towards the sky, whilst he did not mind it the youth had no intentions of getting himself sick or ill in any way. ”Perhaps would you join me for a coffee, it would do neither of us good to stay outside when the weather feeds the crops.” He did not dislike rain by any means, but as he directed the question towards Kiru he could still feel the rain flowing off his hood, rain was a time for everyone to gather inside and prepare dinner, clean and spend time with each other until the heavens closed and work could resume.

His personality appeared to have matched his physical appearance. According to Kiru, anyways. She usually jumped to conclusions like that. Kiru liked to think people replicated their habits into how they took to making themselves. There was something calming about this man that she couldn't exactly put her finger on. He seemed kind enough, though. He went onto answer the demon slayer's question. Stating his name was Lester, and that he had left Black Rose along with her former co-worker Desiree who Kiru knew a little bit better. Now it was starting to make sense. While she couldn't exactly say she knew this Lester, his name did indeed sound very familiar. It was entirely possible she had heard it in passing on multiple occasions within the guildhall. Especially if he was friends with Des. They must've been close as well, sensing they left together to start a new guild. One Kiru knew little about due to its age.

The white haired wizard had closed his eye to show Kiru the guildmark of his new home. She did not react. That was a theme that had seemed consistent with Kiru. Even by watching her, it was obvious that she wasn't exactly what many would classify as normal. She seemed still, almost uncaring about most things. While this wasn't entirely true, it was simply what she looked like and she had no way of changing that. It was what ended up putting many people off. Lester, however, seemed to be perfectly fine with her stature. Either he was being polite, or he didn't seem to care much for it. She hoped it was the latter. He offered to take their conversation somewhere sheltered from the rain. Kiru had forgotten its presence. She then remembered that most people didn't really like the dismal weather all that much. Despite that, though, she still welcomed it. Of course she didn't want to make others uncomfortable, so she was inclined to accept his offer.

"Do you know a place?" Kiru stated flatly, walking passed him, her half closed eyes staring dead ahead with no expression on her pale face. Kiru wasn't much of a coffee drinker, she much preferred tea. Although most places that sold coffee usually had both as well, so there wasn't really any issue in that. Still, she was interested in getting to know Lester more. He was still a very mysterious character to her. She wasn't sure how much he knew about the demon slayer either. Other than her name and status as a guild ace, probably not much. Perhaps they could learn more about each other over a friendly conversation. Kiru still had a bit of time on her hands, and assumed Lester didn't have any plans either sensing how he made the offer. She was also interested in knowing what exactly he had been doing here on the island of Lavantir. Even if he was kind enough to drop by the memorial and pay his respects, Kiru doubted that had been the soul purpose of his journey here. Perhaps he was on a job. Maybe he wanted help? All the answers would likely get revealed to her soon.

An eye flickered over, turning his gaze towards that who had such odd hair coloration, she seemed a little blank. Not dull, nor boring by any means, more self contained, as if she had such control over herself that not a single whisker or peek of emotion or thought would show through. Yet at the same time it wasn't as if she had crafted a mask or cloak to wear. Just, plain naked like some sort of blank doll base. Although it didn't make him angry nor surprised the youth simply had to quash the inner frustration under his leaf bed of simplicity and external peace. Did he know a place? She seemed to give off mixed signals, whilst her words indicated the intention to spend time relaxing with him body language communicated a differet idea, a vibe of almost disinterest, eyes lacking emotion as if this was something she did everyday, stepping past him, a lack of direct speech. No eye contact nor physical cues. It had been a little unnerving at first, someone who so simply was nothing, no presence to him he could hardly get a speck of colour off their canvas. Smooth motions tucked it behind his ear as Lesters hand softly worked the mane like hair which was contained under the hood. Whilst part of it happily roared away as if it had been frozen white flames he had manage to separate a small portion on the side which playfully fiddled between his fingers. Perhaps giving off some vague idea of energy and enthusiasm he found himself contrasting to the bleakness, black hole like person which walked next to him.

As if a trail of poppies guided him the youths shoes steered the duo around corners, he hadn't been there, yet while looking into the city he had come across a small column in a rather unknown magazine, simply outlining the location and opening times of a small cafe in the city. Noting it as a place where the residences knew about and enjoyed, a hidden secret treasure. A short walk awaited them before the warmth of a cafe, yet his curios gaze once more flickered across to Kiru. She was indeed an odd one, he could hardly get over it, as if the woman was some sort of unsolvable puzzle which held the allure of possibility and challenge. "Is there anything in particular you prefer or look for in a cafe?" A safe topic of discussion, one could easily fall back and fake something if they were unsure and the question wasn't too personal. Although perhaps he could poke at that later the male doubted she would instantly say much in the initial stages of their conversation. Yet the topic matter was relevant as well, face painted in curiosity and investment as it peeked out from under his hood.

Cosplay, maids, catgirls, surely it wasn't too odd. Yet he didn't dismiss the idea of something as unpredictable as a cat cafe. Perhaps it was those with the strongest exterior had the softest interior. Soon they would reach it, yet from he had read it seemed to be reasonable average in terms of menu, yet the quality was known to be wonderus. Simplicity and stability, common things which everyone knew yet the expertise at which they were created was what had gotten the small place its name. Would she be okay with a cafe like that? Just normal servers, good drinks ad good food? Perhaps she was one of those odd people who demanded that it be served a certain way, and checked the ingredients lists.

Kiru didn't seem to mind the place that Lester had lead her too. Or at least, that's what it seemed like. As with all things, her opinion on the cafe or their current situation could almost never be deciphered. At least to those who had no idea how to too. For those who did know Kiru, they would've realized by now that the weather around her position was usually the only way she could express her emotion. Right now, it rained normally. Not too hard, but not too light either. No thunder, no lighting, just rain. This was caused by Kiru, as a constant side effect of her magic. The rain didn't follow her wherever she went, but only when she was actually starting to feel something inside. In this particular case, it had been the feelings of grief she had felt back up at the memorial. Of course, to any outsider it just appeared as regular rain. Gloomy, and distant. Much like how Kiru looked most of the time.

After politely ordering a simple cup of jasmine tea, she would stare at Lester for a good long minute, peering straight into his eyes as she tried to determine his character. She was fully aware this method usually made people uncomfortable, but Kiru did so nonetheless. She felt people usually revealed themselves in subtle body movement and eye gestures when put under pressure, and Kiru seemed to have a knack for making people nervous. After she got what she needed, her blue eyes looked down to her cup and she took a simple sip before staring out the window. This seemed to be a nice place. It was quiet, quaint, and small. She was glad Lester had good taste.

Kiru would answer any questions Lester had before asking her own. With a small sip of her tea she'd turn back to him and put it back down on the small white plate. "I was never informed to the reasoning behind you and Desiree's choice to leave the guild and start your own." She said flatly, implying a question rather than simply asking it. Of course, it took Kiru a minute but she soon realized that her statement could've sounded somewhat rude, or aggressive given its context. So she corrected herself. "Not that I am concerned or mad, but I was just curious is all behind the motive for such an action. Was Black Rose not satisfactory? Did the guild lack something you wanted?" As an ace, it was Kiru's job to help make the guild better. If Lester and Desiree had indeed left the guild because there was something wrong about it, she would really have liked to know. That way she could do her best to correct whatever the mistake was and improve Black Rose.

She seemed rather comfortable, or rather to him Kiru appeared to not dislike the small place that they stepped into. Taking that as a good sign he glanced over the menu quickly, noting her ordering of a tea indicating that she wouldn’t mind to sit and chat he asked for a cup of lemon honey and ginger. Although the days were not exactly still winter no wrong would come due to warding off trailing winter chills. Hands curling around the tea he sipped slightly, a flourish of spices swirling down his throat as the lemon seared away and troubles, the ginger and spices waking up any tired eyes whilst the honey smoothed out sore patches it was truly a beautiful little drink. Jasmine tea, that was what she had ordered, commonly used with a green or black tea base they used the blossoms to create a rather nice little scented tea. Whilst he had little interest in tea itself there were many flowers and plants which were used to create teas. Indeed he wouldn’t lie to himself, there had been many times when as a child blossoms and blooms would mysteriously find themselves being infused in boiled water.

It was rude to say it, so he simply thought it, after all rude and mean things were okay to think just not say. Her own eyes were rather odd, would it be rude to look away? Would that be shown as discomfort or awkwardness. His head simply tilted as he returned the favour or examining the others eyes until a few locks of his hair paraded their way in front of his vision. It swung softly, white barriers of light swinging across drawing his attention with every slight movement of the locks he found himself looking away from Kiru. He was due for a haircut, or perhaps would it be better to continue growing the mane out and then bind all of it back with a ribbon or something.

It stood to reason that she had a few questions, for what other reasons would the lady accompany him for tea. That and the situation was rather odd. The soft clink of the cup being placed back on the plate woke him brain up slightly, a slight air of serious conversation settled across him as she seemed to collect her words. Her query into the reasoning behind their departure sent a slight smile across his face. Their choice to leave the guild and start their own. The swirling drink in his hands drew his gaze as thoughts swirled around just as the lemon did in the tea. “Oh no don’t worry I didn’t think that.” the question did not seem to be full of harsh or negative emotion, not did he sense any close bonds with Desiree. “The guild was not lacking, although I myself was not there for long I did not consider Black Rose to be a bad guild in any way.” His face remained slightly thoughtful as he took a small sip of the tea, not wanting it to go cold. “Desiree is someone whom I cannot speak for, and nor did I create the guild with her I was sort of just there with her.” How could he say it without giving away too much, nor did he wish to frame his mentor and guildmaster in a negative light. “She sort of just took me with her when she left you see, there was nothing wrong with Black Rose so do not worry.” Comfort was what he hoped to convey across with a slight smile. The guild hadn’t been a bad experience at the time, of course learning about the backroom operations had been a surprise yet there was something about a mage's first guild which left a small pile of warmth within his heart.

Memories of being plucked up and swept away in a kidnapping like moment were swept away as a rather sharp bit of lemon and ginger brushed across a cut in his mouth. A wince drawing his body tight for a moment. Hopefully that all made sense, he hadn’t been very involved in the guild before his departure, it felt a little wrong to ask how it was going, he didn't wish to seem like some information digger yet the moment to leave hadn’t quite come either

    KIRU NIVANI
    3253/7000 Words

Kiru was sure to stay silent as Lester spoke, careful to absorb every detail about his answer when he decided to give it to her. According to him, he had simply followed Desiree when the two of them left the guild. He had nothing against Black Rose, but felt attatched enough to the former ace to follow her to a new guild once they made the choice to leave it. Interesting to say the least. Lester had only been part of the guild for a short time before he left it with her. That was probably due to the fact he had no sentimental attachment to the guild. There wasn't anything wrong with that. Kiru was glad to know that was the simple reasoning behind his actions, and that they had nothing to do with any lack of quality within her guild. As for Desiree, she couldn't really say why that girl left. And by the sound of it, Lester didn't really know either. It would remain a mystery for now.

"I see." Kiru started, picking up her cup again for another sip of her tea. The heat of it didn't phase her as she finally took her eyes of Lester for a moment to look downwards. She was about to say something when someone else... Rudely interjected! "I- I'm not crazy I saw it! No one believes me! I did! I did! As clear as day! A MERMAID!" An older fellow who Kiru had not sensed coming straight towards the two careened straight into their table! He abruptly shook it as he grabbed the edges with both hands to yell at the two. Kiru's glass shook and spilled over. While her expression didn't change, it was obvious by her body language she was surprised to say the least. Leaning back on instinct as the man eyed both of them with an insane expression. "R- Right at the edge of the cove! I saw her! I gotta go back! Y- You need to help me!" He snorted in a desperate tone. Who the hell was this guy? Kiru stared at him as he frantically looked back and forth at the two. It appeared as if he needed their help... Or more like he was demanding it. Kiru would simply turn back to stare at Lester, and not say a word. However the rain outside grew more intense.

The twin haired wizard would then simply turn back to the old man with the same blank expression as he stared at both of them waiting for a response. "Who are you?" She asked simply. The old man breathed heavily for a moment before licking his dry lips and responding. "I- Itzah! Th- That's what they call me! Crazy! Can you believe it!?"
"I believe I can." Kiru said with a sigh, so far the only hint of emotion she had given. If this man was going to be annoying the best way to handle this was to see what he wanted from the two wizards and hopefully send him on his way. By the look of the other patrons in the cafe, it seemed they were all equally surprised by this sudden outburst. The waiters were also put on edge, standing still with food still in hand watching the scene. Kiru quietly picked her tea cup and placed it back on the plate. Sadly empty now after the drink had spilled on the table. "And would you repeat the reason as to why you so rudely interrupted me and my friend here?" She asked, her optics flicking upwards to stare at the man straight in the eyes. Something about them was unsettling, even to a crazy man. Even without expression, those eyes could tell you exactly what Kiru was feeling... And right now she was very annoyed.

She was a good listener, that Lester was sure of. There was something about being a good listener that he still hadn’t fully grasped, sometimes he met those who appeared to think that they were good at listening yet what truely sculpted someone to be good at listening was how their mere presence encouraged others around them to speak. Kiru was sitting in that area. Nothing she did cautioned the males instincts. It was a dangerous idea indeed, such calm and familiarity almost he would have to watch himself.  Yet she had understood his intentions, with his own tea still stewing the male took another small taste of the rich waters, this place really did have some nice tea. His mind had been mulling over ordering a few small treats, perhaps just a tiny shortbread cookie to go with tea, he wouldn’t mind conversing with the other ace for longer had they not been interrupted. He had come in as a whirl of energy, the negative type of energy.  He was older than the two but obviously less collected and perhaps less mature. Either that or the man had just been shaken up judging from his irrational speech pattern.

He wasn’t crazy, he saw something. That was all he could gather for the moment. Lesters mind turned around in circles as  moment, his chilled hands grasping the warm cup slightly closer. This was a rather odd event indeed. The table shook slightly, then once more as he grasped the sides and continued to holler at the duo with expressions of distress and distraught painted across his face. Kiru’s glass tipped, one of those scenes almost as if it should have been in slow motion yet instead it just sped up. The table suddenly covered in a liquid and a stranger screeching at them. The other citizens around them had various expressions of distaste, pity and anger drawing their gazes towards the two mages who had been caught up in it all. So right at the edge of the cove he saw a woman, what did he fall in love with someone or something? The movement of Kiru’s head caught his eye, for a moment the two were looking at each other, she had kept the same expression, yet his was just slightly more awkward. Whilst on one side he had a highly distressed older male on the other there was this emotionless woman who had a poker face to bankrupt casinos.

Thankfully she had intentions of gathering more information and questioning the man. Had it been left to him Lester wouldn’t have been sure of where to start. The eccentric were ones he preferred to stay away from due to their unpredictability causing too many variability in data. Itzah, so they had a name. He could sense the sigh as well as hearing it. As if emotions had build up and now she released them in a rather odd fashion. Yet a sigh could be anything. There was very low chances of it being a sigh of relaxation or one that was released after an intimate or energetic activity. Which left those of sadness, loss, anger, or stress. All of which were negative moods and fit with the current situation. So Kiru was feeling negative. It was a start at least, perhaps he could figure her out more later. She regathered the tea cup and saucer. Only a few small dregs of tea remained after being harshly deposited across the table. The wording which she used surprised him. Rudely interrupted those two words would have been phrased differently. So yes, she was in a negative mood, confirmation that the sigh had been on the lower end of the mood scale had been received.
His head turned even more, fully taking the elderly man in his sights who now glanced between the unnervingly sharp hues of Kiru’s eyes and his own which were deep with thought emotion and memory, as if calculating and judging with every breath the interrupting man took. The way he spoke although still erratic and uneven in tone was a little more cautious than his previous statements. “Its true I know it is! But I can’t go out there again, I need you to go for me, go and tell me about this mermaid. If you see her then other people will believe that she is real!” His voice rasped and was slightly out of breath, the elderly man still stared at them with an open gaze. Lester’s own thoughts had turned back to Kiru and the spilt tea, from what he saw they had two choices, to continue speaking with him or to send him away. He doubted there would be much reaction from the other person seated at the table so Lester pushed for answers. “So you want us to go and confirm the existence of this mermaid? Because people will believe us more than you?” well it was indeed rather odd, travelling out to find a mermaid only to confirm her existence to help this crazed elderly resident. Temples hurting slightly he finished off his tea with a gulp. The harsh bitter ends trailing down his throat drawing a slight expression of distaste out.

However whilst he was quite content with having a moment of silence the elderly man only gripped the table tighter, shaking it unintentionally as his entire body shaked. ”Do it, people will cry your name into the streets and the walls of temples shall be painted with your figures. Here- here! Take my notebook, You can follow my notes to it, they’ll lead you to where the mermaid is. Oh the mermaid you must you have to!” Spittle almost flew from his mouth, Lester's face displayed slight distaste for just a moment before placing his tea cup back into the saucer. Almost ignoring the older man he directed the next words towards kiru. ”I’m quite happy to do either. Would you like to go out in search of this mermaid? Perhaps it would be a more quiet place to continue our conversation than here.” The entire cafe had their eyes and ears turned towards the confrontation, even if the man left now the rest of their stay would be more than awkward.

    KIRU NIVANI
    3921/7000 Words

The day had certainly taken an interesting turn to be sure. First Kiru was alone simply paying respects to fallen guildmates, now she was sitting across from an ace of another Fiore guild being pestered to go on some sort of monster hunt. While it was indeed strange, this sort of thing had happened before. Kiru could remember a similar situation a few years earlier, only at the end of the day she and her guild mate ended up busting an illegal trading ring within the heart of another port city. This didn't really sound like it would end that way though. This man was begging Kiru and Lester to go searching for a mermaid. Lester seemed intrigued by the proposition, Kiru however wasn't quite convinced yet. She studied the old man's face for a few seconds without saying a word. While it was true Kiru didn't have a hard time believing that mermaids existed, she wasn't entirely sure if this man had actually seen one or not. Of course, all this talk would be for nothing if the man's request didn't merit some sort of compensation for the trouble that Kiru and Lester would've been forced to go through in order to confirm the old fool's tale. Her time wasn't free, and she'd make sure that much was clear.

"Maybe you did see a mermaid out there. Maybe you didn't. I'm not one to judge what you THINK you saw." She clasped her hands together now on the table. "However, I must ask if you realize who you're asking to go on this little venture of yours." She stated flatly. "Myself and the wizard sitting across from me are members of two official Fiore guilds. We don't work for free. Especially on jobs with such 'limited' reward value." Kiru spoke truthfully. Even if the man was right, and Lester and Kiru ended up spying this mermaid, there was no guarantee that either of them would receive anything from it. If this man was serious about getting the help of two wizards, he better be prepared for the cost. Kiru had assumed Lester would feel similarly, so she didn't really hesitate when it came to speaking for him. Although the white haired wizard across from Kiru did already seem interested in taking on this task. Kiru on the other hand wasn't so sure... Despite the odd circumstances of this deal, there was another factor Kiru was thinking about. One that no one else really seemed to account for. The ocean itself. Kiru wasn't very fond of venturing very far out into the open expanses of water... Despite it being her element.

"A- AH! Yes! A reward! I- If you do this task for me I promise you'll be well compensated!" The man began, a hopeful glint in his eyes. "I- I've been saving up a bit! All of it is yours!" Kiru sighed. The vagueness of the information that came out of this man's mouth wasn't very reassuring. "Very well. I can agree to look into this for you. I cannot speak for my accomplice however." Kiru said, looking back over to Lester. Judging by his earlier statement however, Kiru could very well predict he'd agree to go on this little escapade as well. With the deal settled, Kiru would order another cup of tea to replace the one that had been very rudely taken from her. After which the two would head towards the docks. Kiru would keep pace next to Lester, her eyes trained forwards as the rain lightly fell from the grey canopy far above their heads. Lester was right about one thing, anywhere seemed to be a more quiet place to continue their discussion than that cafe. It wasn't until Kiru left the building that she fully realized this. The weather had made many of the city's residents scarce outside. The only sounds Kiru could hear was their footsteps on the cobblestone and the steady hum of the rain. It was rather peaceful.
