    Arghast Telvrare

Post by Arghast on 12th April 2018, 2:08 pm

    Name: Arghast Telvrare
    Gender: Male
    Age: 26
    Birthday: 13th July
    Sexuality: Heterosexual
Special Characteristics: Small pockmark like scars run the length of both arms starting at his palms and twining around towards the base of his neck. They are slightly sunken in the centre and the edge of each scar is raised up slightly from the surface of the skin and would feel incredibly tough to the touch (were anyone allowed to touch them that is, Arghast is incredibly sensitive about this).

Personality: Arghast keeps a gruff and cold demeanour towards strangers and those he considers outsiders. This is more due to his social ineptitude than anything else as even the most basic of conversations can become quite a challenge for Arghast to keep up with. Instead of withering under the expectations of strangers to keep up any kind of conversation he keeps most of his speech short and practical. This often means that subtle humour can fly right over his head. Resulting in him being the butt of most people's jokes over the years.
Despite this once Arghast has made a connection with someone he will make a staunch ally standing firm with that person for as long as he is able.
Never willing to give up Arghast will persevere with a given task until either it is completed or he realises it is beyond him.
Arghast is slow to rouse to anger, not seeing the point in allowing his judgement to become clouded by such an easily manipulated emotion. This often means that on the rare occasions when he loses control of his anger it is all the more potent as he has no idea how to reign it in. His main belief is that honour should dictate how a person behaves and interacts with the world, as such he finds deceit and misdirection distasteful and cannot see why people would need to dance around a problem using trickery when they can more easily solve it head on. Provided they are strong enough to do so. This forms one of his most fundamental ways of viewing the world and the people in it. He will judge the people he meets by what they have done rather than by what other people have said about them.

When engaging a foe in combat Arghast will use probing attacks in order to establish if a weakness that his spells can exploit exists. He will also tend towards being as mobile a combatant as he can in an effort to keep his opponent off balance as he attacks from as many different directions as possible.
Arghast prefers to get to know how his opponent will fight and react before he starts to commit to taking any openings in his opponents defences as he is fully aware that an opponent can fake a weak defence at any point in order to get a hit in or to gain the upper hand.
Once Arghast has found a good opening he will repeatedly hammer his opponent with all he can until either his foe yields.. Or he does. Arghast gives no quarter when fighting and expects none no matter who he's up against.
Once Arghast has found a weakness he can call those out to other members of a team, he won't keep information a secret during a combat situation as he sees that taking down an opponent is more important than getting a finishing blow. With this in mind his demeanour shifts dramatically from socially awkward to brazen as his focus shifts to survival and victory by whatever means he has at his disposal.
Though he won't throw himself unthinkingly into harms way for a team mate he will do what he can to preserve the lives of his team.
If ever he is thrown into the position of leading a team he tends to second guess his choices, ever afraid of making a fatal error, preferring instead to lead by example by getting himself into the mix.

    Likes:

    • Natural surroundings. Arghast has found that he can be most at peace when surrounded by the pure sounds of nature as they are soothing to him and allow help him to empty his mind.
    • The sense of achievement which accompanies the completion of a difficult challenge. Never one to back down from a challenge Arghast loves nothing better than being able to best the challenges placed before him.
    • Learning about new magic and the world around him. Arghast feels that gaining new knowledge can open up new opportunities and give him better insights into his own magic and its place in the world.

    Dislikes:

    • Unnecessary bloodshed. Not only is this a dishonourable act but it is a wasteful use of a wizards abilities and time.
    • Giving up. If you aren't willing to see something through to the end then why exactly did you start it? As far as Arghast can see this shows a lack of focus and commitment, both of which are essential to becoming greater.
    • Deception. As a tactic to overcome a foe it is underhanded and most importantly dishonourable. Arghast finds both of these things distasteful.
    • Insinuation and double entendre. Arghast believes that if something should be said it should be said straight out without any chance of misinterpretation or just missing what was meant to be said entirely.

    Motivations:

    • Mastery of his magic and power. Arghast struggles with the idea that his power could spiral out of control one day so he strives to completely master it and make sure that he is the master of his own fate.
    • Overcoming his social anxieties and ineptitudes. Arghast lives for the day when he can stand as part of a crowd and not be afraid, when he can strike up a conversation with a complete stranger and maintain it without fear of having nothing to say. As such he does his best to work to overcome this.
    • Find a purpose on life. Arghast is driven by the need to be fulfilled by what he does, to feel like what he does matters. Having never felt a sense of purpose he needs to feel like he achieves something more than just his own rewards, he needs to be part of something bigger than himself.

    Fears:

    • Large groups of people. This seriously sets off a terror reaction in Arghast as his anxieties kick in. Fight or flight switches on automatically leading him to either lash out and then leave whilst everyone is dazed/distracted or he just leaves as quickly as possible if there is an exit sufficiently close.
    • Heights. Arghast has a fear of anything taller than the 1st floor of a building. If he gets any higher than this he gets nauseous and starts to feel dizzy causing him to seek the way back down to what he calls 'a sensible height for humans'. If that option isn't available he will sit down and close his eyes until the dizziness leaves and he can contemplate a better way out.
    • Claustrophobia. Arghast is driven into seeking out a large area full of oxygen and space whenever he is enclosed in a very small space. He also suffers from this when in a large room filled with people. This leaves Arghast believing that he is unable to catch his breath properly leading to hyper ventilation.

Hair: Shaved bald, small beard which has been neatly trimmed and squared off, medium brown with incredibly sparse silver flecks.
    Eyes: Storm grey.
Skin Tone: mid tone to dark skinned.
Appearance: Arghast is very lean and muscular and though he by no means towers over anyone his usual habit of standing with his arms crossed and glaring can be a bit intimidating.
Arghast can usually be seen wearing a slim forest green sleeveless coat which extends to his knees down the sides and coal black trousers which a relatively form fitting. The trousers are functional enough to not get in the way when running or fighting. The coat isn't as practical, Arghast just likes the way it flares out when he fights.
