It was funny, to go for so long without something and then the second you gain it, you act like you have had it all your life.
It had not been too long since she received her grandmother's long forgotten hearing aids from her grandfather. It had been maybe a year ago. Two years since she had arrived in Peace Village to begin with. To anyone else, leaving your parents and birth village behind might have been scary. And to Astrid, in the beginning, it kind of was. She was always protected and babied by her mother and father because of her disability. So it leave that comfort into an unknown place was pretty terrifying. But at the same time, she did find it actually rather freeing. Her grandfather was not as strict as her parents had been, or at least her mother mostly. In fact her grandfather pretty much just left her to her own devices a lot of the time. Which was both good and bad. No one would ever forget the infamous butterfly incident... But at the same time this also left the girl with a ton of free time to do whatever she wanted when she wasn't at school. And what better way to spend your free time than on something you loved?
Astrid had taken so naturally to the beloved violin left behind by her grandmother. Take it more as an infatuation to the musical instrument. There was something about it that captured her full attention, kind of like she was bred to play the thing. Music was in her veins, after all. Her entire bloodline, aside from her mother, had been traveling musicians. Basically, even at a young age, she just knew she was born to play it just like all those who came before her.
    Which is what she did.
She played her little heart out day after day, until her fingers blistered and bled.

Bandaged fingers gripped firmly onto the wooden bow, stroking it back and forth against the light strings of the instrument. A tune vibrated into existence. The tune itself was rather sorrowful, a bittersweet thing.
Blue optics shut once she found herself able to relax into the melody, allowing her arm to move by itself as she imagined the notes within her mind. The warm sunlight fed into her relaxation, along with the cooling breeze sweeping through the small garden that slightly tussled with braided silver hair. It was pretty much the only place she could practice, seeing as how inside the house was too noisy and playing randomly about the town wasn't the best when she was still insecure about her playing. Not that her playing was bad at all, in fact she could probably surpass most musicians much older than her. But to Astrid herself, it never felt like she was good enough to be listened to. Not that she was complaining. In fact the small garden was very beautiful, kept that way by the help of their next door neighbor. It was away from people, and it was very pretty... But in a sense, whenever she played back here, there was a tingling sense of loneliness. In fact, it wasn't just whenever she played did she feel lonely. It was pretty much a constant in her life. Moving from a different village, being slightly weaker then other children, her anger issues, her disability. The other children didn't really bother with her much. She didn't even have anyone she could call a friend. She had her grandfather, the next door neighbor that sometimes came around, and her stuffed animals. But that was pretty much it. She was rather social, but when no one bothered to be social with her back, it was rather hard to stay that way...
Her loneliness, in a way, made its way into her playing. Anyone with sensitive enough ears could probably hear it. That is, if anyone bothered to even listen.
There is a difference between listening, and really listening. People listened, but they never really listened.
It was sad. But to Astrid, she was at least happy to be able to express her feelings through such things in the first place.

    Lucius Peace Village
    T h e   d e v i l s   g o t   n o t h i n g   o n   m e   m y   f r i e n d

His mind twisted naturally from birth, twisted even more so from his abusive parents, till finally it got so wound up it snapped. The barely thriving village was wiped from existence, it was done overnight, everyone brutally murdered the set ablaze. Though this took a toll on the perpetrator, it wasn't easy killing dozens of people at only six or seven years old, especially when a few are highly trained assassins. Though physical injuries weren't the only toll that he took, though they were horrible people, his father and mother and other distant relatives were all he had. It was the only family he ever knew, now he had nobody, and the fault for their demise was his own. He didn't know what to do, but he couldn't stay, it was nothing but ash, so he couldn't possibly sustain himself. So the boy wandered, no destination, he wasn't even sure what he was doing. He had no purpose, not anymore, nobody would know who he was or where he was from. Most people would probably avoid him considering how unstable he looked. But he hadn't seen any people, nobody that wasn't dead, there was people outside his village right? Ones that weren't dead?
Survive, that was his one and only goal at this point, so much so he could almost be considered something of a feral child. He was sick from the insufficient amount of food, and often threw them up from them not being properly cooked. Calling him skinny was an understatement, he was starved, malnourished. His already scrawny body was exaggerated making the already unnaturally tall boy look taller. He was filthy, he didn't have time to bathe in the rivers he came across, dried mud and blood covered his snow pale skin. The boy was skittish, on edge, he felt like he was being followed despite the fact that there was nobody. The silence he usually loved irked him, he tried to fill it with his mutterings and the voices in his head. He didn't know where he was, he'd never been alone outside his village before, his eyes couldn't see much more then a few feet in front of him before it was reduced to a blur. His only company physical company and reassurance was his switchblade. Most times he didn't want to put it back, to scared to. Same reason he didn't sleep, only getting sleep when he passed out from exhaustion, even that wasn't much sleep.
His bare feet cushioned by fresh green grass, the air had a feeling of calm and comfort, or maybe he was just hallucinating again. The sun was bright and warm, but it hurt his eyes, he squinted and looked at the ground. The only thing able to protect his eyes would be unkempt green hair, knotted and snarled, split ends surpassing his shoulders. He kept a firm grasp on his knife, being held in a hand at his side, whilst the other hand gripped his elbow. He wanted rest, but he still didn't feel like he could stop, he was running from nothing that he thought was something. He walked along, if you could even call it walking, though stopped when his sensitive ears picked up a sound. Music, a sad and solemn tune played on a violin, he felt like he knew how to play an instrument, but he couldn't remember. His brain had been so clouded with the need for survival, he didn't bother thinking about minor details.
Not thinking he walked towards the sound, like a moth to a flame. The boy felt safer, so his hand naturally flicked the blade closed and slid it into his pocket. He arrived at a small garden, his eyes was just barely able to make out a small silhouette. Their back faced towards him, due to his naturally silent footsteps and her playing, it wasn't a surprise that she didn't notice him. Her current aura didn't really frighten him, or give him any reason to want to kill her, not yet at least. Then again he didn't really have as good heightened senses of that as a trained mage, he was a trained assassin, not mage. His lanky figure stood not to far from her, just enough to be outside the garden. He wasn't familiar with the song that she played, but it was nice to listen to, it brought some calm to the hectic life that he had. He didn't mind standing there, and wouldn't mind standing there for however long she played, he didn't see any reason to move. Though the same couldn't be said for when the song ends.

The song soon ended, having completed the entire score without a hiccup or mistake. Had she known someone was watching her? She may have accidentally strung a wrong string or two until she inevitably had a breakdown because of her nerves and refused to stop playing through frustrated tears. But while she thought she was by herself, she faced no judgement. At least none that she knew about. It was possible the neighbors hated her playing, but they never said anything so she had no idea what they thought. To Astrid, the only judge was herself. And it was the hardest judge anyone had to face. Themselves.
Despite the beautiful playing, the young girl couldn't help but feel like something was off. Upon the last note, she removed her face from the chin rest, which left a small red mark on her pale skin. A pout etched onto her lips, looking over the string instrument with staring sapphire blue eyes. Perhaps it was something wrong with the instrument, or her own playing. She wasn't sure, but on this particular day something felt more off than usual. Well, it's not like she never felt this. She did feel this sense of something missing constantly, like her playing was never good enough. But of course, everyone felt that way. It was a natural way to feel about your own playing. You never thought you were good enough, and Astrid was a victim to this way of thinking.
A defeated sigh left her chest, hugging the violin close to herself. The question was now, would she still be able to continue her playing for today? Or would she give up and find something else to do?
... What else was there even to do? Her grandfather was busy with his work, the children all had their own cliques, and the other adults were doing their own thing and wouldn't want a bored child on their hands. So really, what else was there to do other than playing and not feeling quite right about it? Maybe there was a book she could find that she hadn't already read. Having only learned down to read recently, the silvernette had trouble with books that should otherwise be on her reading level. She normally had to get her grandfather to read it for her and help. Picture books were the only ones she could really read by herself. But yet, there were only so many picture books in the village. Astrid was sure she had read all of them by now, which has led her to reread them quite often. She pretty much had them memorized. Even if she enjoyed books, knowing what was going to happen was a little tiresome. But still, it was the only thing she could do.
The young girl turned around, about ready to go back into the house if it was not for the young boy now standing in front of her path. She had only managed to take a step before she stopped again, wide blue eyes blinking in question at time. Who was this? She did not recognize him, not in the slightest. He looked a little too beaten up to be from the village. But yet again, her memory was horrible. Still, what was he doing back here? How long had he been back here?
Her gaze looked him over curiously, from his messy green hair to his bony and malnourished body before she looked back up to his face. Not that him being skinny or the sleep in his eyes meant anything to her. She wasn't quite knowledgeable to get exactly how rough he looked.
"H-Hellow?" she would greet him questioningly, her voice being a little strange since she still wasn't too good at speaking. She would sound like a baby, rather than a child.
Astrid tilted her head to the side, like she wasn't entirely sure if he was real or not. But once a moment passed, she smiled. Perhaps he was here to listen to her play? He came just after she stopped... Or maybe, he would read books with her. Astrid was a little dim, and didn't entirely get someone suddenly staring at her like that was a little weird or strange. To her, he just looked like he wanted to play. His aura seemed lonely. She could sense it from him too, even if she was completely ignoring the other aura of death and killing he gave off. "D-Do wou want p-play?" She would ask, stepping another step towards him with a bright smile.

    Lucius Peace Village
    T h e   d e v i l s   g o t   n o t h i n g   o n   m e   m y   f r i e n d

The petite girl lowered her stringed instrument, he watched her relaxed movements, her obliviousness to him standing there. She seemed rather lonely standing there all by herself, playing to nobody, her only audience was the flourishing garden around her. Until he came around of course. She seemed so comfortable, so at home, which made sense cause with what he could tell she was home. Home wasn't really a thing he ever knew, there wasn't a safe place for him when he had a house he lived in. Even being curled up where most wouldn't be able to find him, you couldn't hide from an assassin. Killers who's whole business is hiding in the shadows, away from people, they were experts in finding those who're hidden. Similar to lying, when you do it so much, it's easy to spot when other, not as experienced, people try to do so. What was it like to feel safe? To feel comfortable? It wasn't something he was familiar with, he was used to constant anxiety, kept him on his toes, his parents thought it good for him to feel on edge. Helped him train to be an assassin, when you expect everything and anything, what could possibly surprise you?
So really it wasn't a surprise that he was so broken at such a young age, but for once he didn't seem threatened, not by this delicate creature. Though the thoughts of his fear and pain rushed back into him as he turned, he could've easily hidden before she had the slightest possibility of noticing him. But he was distracted by the calming and soothing tune that she played oh so perfectly. This is what his parents tried to prevent, tried to stop him from getting distracted, so nothing would surprise him. But you can't possibly expect a child to not be distracted, to not seek some sort of solace. He watched her cautiously, standing perfectly still as she stepped towards him. Once her curious expression was able to be seen without being a blur, his hand crept towards the switchblade hiding snug within his pocket. She greeted him carefully, her voice sounded like a toddlers with how much inexperience was in it, the words not fully and/or properly pronounced. Her vibrant blue gaze was glued to his dull blue/green eyes, he didn't dare break eye contact with her.
In no way would she appear threatening to any normal person, but not to someone like himself that believed every little thing could be dangerous. His thin fingers wrapped around the handle of his knife. Then she asked a phrase he wasn't familiar with, a joyful smile as warm as the noon sun shown on her expression. What was that expression? Happiness? How could she possibly be happy to see his sorry self, how mental could she possibly be to want to see him? And why did she want to play with him? It sounded innocent enough, especially coming from a little girl with an expression like that. Like I said it wasn't something he was familiar with, he knew there was other kids his age in the small village he previous lived in, but he wasn't allowed to play with them. There was no time for games, he had to train, he was the heir to his family after all, and who knew when the head would die. Assassin's have such unpredictable jobs, it's hard to tell if they'll even come home. So those are trained harshly and thoroughly, so it was be unlikely that they would die out on any jobs. If they permanently broke or died before they became the head then it was onto the next kid to train.
With one swift movement he ripped the knife out from his pocket, flicking it open he held it towards the girls neck, it's sharp blood-stained blade inches from her neck. Trying to prevent her from taking any more steps towards the malnourished boy. He established that even more so with an icy glare and with words "Don't come any closer" he said, the shaking in his voice barely able to hide underneath feigned confidence. The only reluctance towards killing the silvernette came from the consolation he received her playing, he didn't want to erase something from existence that could be a vessel for playing something so beautiful. Not yet, not without thinking it through more. The many voices in his head argued what to do with her. But he waited to commit to anything until what she did next. What would she do? Would she cry? Call for help? Or would she show something dark and dangerous hidden underneath to protect herself. It was impossible to tell, he tried to keep up the menacing and confident look. But it was hard to fear how he looked, a injured, underweight and unusually tall green haired boy. His aura on the other hand was dark, overbearing and bloodthirsty, even non-mages could feel it.

The swift movement of the knife from the boy's pocket to her neck had been too fast for the young girl to see coming. Even just being a few inches away from the skin she could feel the cold metal as if the edge was actually connecting. She did as she was told and froze, and did not take a step close, for even if she moved an inch that sharpened blade had a pretty good chance of jamming into her neck. The blood did not help the matter much, or rather the smell of it. It was dry blood, one scent closely resembling copper pennies that had been left in someone's pocket for too long. The smell reminded Astrid of when she would scrape her knees while playing and then they would scab over, producing this similar smell, hence why she was able to guess what it was without even needing to look at it.
She lifted her head upwards to try and distance herself from the blade slightly, looking up to the taller boy who was now right in front of her, stopping her from going anywhere. Wide blue eyes blinked, shining curiously for a moment before they settled back into their regular state. Her baffled expression turned into that of sudden excitement, like someone who just realized what the meaning of like was. A huge smile spread across her lips. "Oh, cowps and wobbews is et?" She questioned, tilting her head to the side only a tiny bit. Ah yes, cops and robbers. That's what he was obviously trying to play right now. Good thing she figured that out. For a moment there she actually thought he may be trying to do something else, but no one in this village did anything like murder people. That was just silly. This was called Peace Village for a reason. No one here was that violent. Otherwise it wouldn't be called Peace would it? Right? Right. So therefore he was just playing with her. How silly of her. Well, she guessed she was supposed to be the cop since he had a knife and all. It was actually a really convincing knife, he had blood stains on it and everything. What was it, ketchup? Probably ketchup. She could have sworn she smelt a little bit of tomato on there. Though that copper smell... It was really convincing. What did he use to make it smell so much like blood? She would ask him later.
It was a cop's job to stop a robber after all.
With inhuman force she would grab onto the boy's wrist and squeeze it. If he tried to move it closer to her, he would find he could not just by how much pressure she was sending back to him. "Stawp wight dere cwim... C-Cwim... Cwim..." Finding it hard to enunciate the bigger word the silvernette stumbled upon on it a couple of times, stuttering as she tried to find her footing for another attempt. Slim eyebrows furrowed, her eyes narrowing in concentration as she continued to hold the boy in place. "Bads guy scwum!" Satisfied with the alternate phrasing a small smile formed upon her lips. Dropping her violin to the ground she would use her other now free hand to grab onto the back of his shirt tightly and twist him around so he was now facing the other way, tugging his arm upward and stretching it in an unnatural position. After a moment she would force her knee into his back, sending herself to the ground along with him. He would land face first into the ground, his arm being twisted behind his back, completely restrained. A sly smirk formed upon her features. She had won. Mostly from watching watching those really cool crime shows as she ate dinner. They were always really cool. A little too violent in some cases, but like most young kids Astrid was a sponge when it came to that kind of stuff, so she just naturally absorbed it into her mind self consciously.
She forced her knee more into his back, which probably hurt his spine a lot. Not that she knew it would do this, she was just trying to adjust herself to get more comfortable. She just assumed she was restraining him, and had no idea of any damage her weird strength would have caused to the young assassin.
"Cowps win! To jail wit you!" She stated happily, pretty proud of herself that she had won.

Her faulty ability to speak words confused the savage boy, his brain having a hard time translating what she was saying with out scattered and frantic it was at the moment. It was hard to think properly when scared, though he is good at reacting, having rather quick reflexes. He was an assassin after all, though not fully trained, he was still quite skilled. But it didn't seem like he did with what happened in the following moments. Suddenly the supposedly frail girl grabbed his wrist with inhuman speed and strength, he was shocked and didn't even know how to react. How did she even do that? He shouldn't had trusted her in the slightest, cause now look where it got him. His usual instinct was drowned out by his want to hear something nice for once instead of the screaming voices in his head. Because in this situation it seems as if his distrust was much needed. Well, so the boy thought, his scattered brain couldn't really tell that she was clueless to her hurting him. She didn't intend to bring him pain in anyway, she just thought he was playing games with her. Guess it was the ignorant girl's way of dealing with someone pointing a knife at her, considering no such action had been committed against her beforehand.
Before he knew it, he was pinned to the ground, a proud young girl sat atop him bringing pain into his back. His hand didn't manage to have a grip on his knife, and it dropped somewhere on the ground in the process of her grabbing, turning and then pinning him. Not that it would be very useful to him in this situation, though he was ambidextrous, one of his hands was being held very tightly by the violinist and the other couldn't reach her. His long legs when bent could barely touch her back, but again, no use. He let out an animal like growl and clawed at the ground with his free hand, digging up grass and dirt and dragging him ever so slightly. "Get-get off of-of us bitch" he stuttered and cussed out of anger and fear, what was she playing at? What did she want from him? To see him beg? To see him suffer? To think he went through all the pain in running away from his previous living state to end up in this situation. He couldn't catch any luck, not that he could tell at least.

The young girl continued to hold him down, a proud smirk etched across her small lips. Honestly? She had no idea how much pain she was causing the boy. She really just thought she was lightly restraining him. Had she known just how much pain he was really in? She would have gotten off of him immediately and apologized profusely. But because he merely continued to struggle under her might, clawing at the ground below and flailing about, she continued to crush his body with her strength. What was she supposed to do now? Well, usually she was supposed to let him up and then they would switch places, her being the robber and then him being the cop. But then he said it. You know, it. The word. Well, at least one of the forbidden words her grandfather had told her she could never say.
Her expression turned shocked, her mouth slightly ajar as she let out a gasp. The B-word. It was one of the many words she was told never to say. She wasn't sure why it was bad, or why any of them were bad. But her grandfather had told her they were really nasty words that only bad boys and girls used, and if they used them they would be punished.
"Y-Woo said da B word! Das a nawty wowd..." Was he a bad boy? Apparently, if he could just say it without a second thought. Did that mean he was supposed to be punished too? He needed to know it was bad to say such evil words. Plus, well, he was a robber. But even for a robber, she was shocked to hear it from a kid of all people. An adult? Maybe. She had a few adults say them. But even when they did, they would always apologize afterwards. But this kid? He didn't even apologize.
He was going to need a punishment.
Blue optics turned from shocked to narrowed, as she applied for pressure to his body, angered by his lack of manners.
"SAY IT! SAY WOO ARE SOWWY!" she yelled at him to apologize, digging her knee into his spine.
