    Shattered Reality

Post by Alfonse Adair on 26th November 2017, 10:45 am

    SHATTERED REALITY

    Primary Magic: Shattered Reality
    Secondary Magic: /
    Caster or Holder: Caster
    Description:
Dreams, a collection of images, emotions, ideas and sensations that we experience while sleeping. The beautiful or terrifying scenarios involuntarily taking place within our minds allow for ourselves to create the most sensational images we’ll ever see. Sadly (or luckily), dreams are simply imagination at its peak. In no way is it reality, and in no way can it interfere. Shattered Reality defies this boundary between two worlds, allowing for our own dreams or nightmares to be temporarily granted existence in the real world.

Shattered Reality users have the ability to collect and clearly memorise the dreams of others and themselves. These dreams can then be temporarily turned into reality to allow for several various effects depending on what kind of image it is and what emotions are tied to it.

Due to the variety in dreams and each experience being unique, Shattered Reality allows for a lot of different effects. This let’s Shattered Reality users actively switch between offensive, defensive and supportive spells to take care of any situation thrown at them.
Shattered Reality is pretty much divided into two parts; Good Dreams and Nightmares. Dreams are often light-based and excel at supportive/defensive capabilities. They also specialize in crowd control effects to keep enemies away without doing too much harm. The dream side of Shattered Reality should not be underestimated though, considering that it’s definitely possible to dish out a lot of damage if making use of the right dreams. The nightmare side, however, just happens to be much better at doing so. Nightmares often follow a high risk/high reward construction, in which the user is forced to put oneself at a disadvantage to deal heavy damage or to create painful debuffs. Nightmares also have a negative impact on the mages mental and physical health, which is why those who specialize in the nightmare side of Shattered Reality are often affiliated with dark organizations.

Some spells do not fit into either category, as they in some way are capable of using both. This, however, isn’t very common.

Alfonse specializes in the good side of Shattered Reality, using dreams to keep his enemies at a good distance while making sure he and his allies survive. Crowd Control and Support are thus the most important to him, but he is still capable of dealing a bit of damage if necessary.

Aside from being a very powerful type of magic in the right hands, Shattered Reality is also said to be visually beautiful. The texture of the abilities is comparable with that of a galaxy, colourful and mystical. The exception to this is basically every nightmare-based ability, as they tend to be very dark and bland.

    Strengths
    > Versatility: He can use any dream he has ever witnessed, which obviously allows for great versatility on the battlefield.
    > Supportive: Both good dreams and (in rare cases) bad dreams can be used to buff and heal allies, allowing for Shattered Reality to be used in a supportive manner.
    > Friends on the other side: Though not the main focus of Shattered Reality, it can be used to temporarily grant life to good or bad characters that can aid Alfonse on the battlefield in various ways.
    > Crowd Control: Knock-backs, Slows, Stuns, Blinds and so on, Shattered Reality allows for a lot of debuff effects that can turn the tide of battle.
    > Solid Defence: Alfonse can utilize Shattered Reality to protect himself and allies via barriers and a couple other tools.

    Weaknesses:
    > Self-immobilizing: Some abilities require Alfonse to stand still or slow him down heavily, which can give the enemy a large advantage. Overusing Shattered Reality can also make him feel extremely tired up to the point of just making him fall asleep.
    > Self-damaging: Through the use of Nightmare based spells, Alfonse can sometimes accidentally hurt himself or his teammates considering it's quite dangerous to use the darker abilities.
    > Lacking: Due to Shattered Reality not having a main purpose and instead is very versatile, it does not exceed in any particular area. This could potentially cause for a disadvantage.
    > Reliant: Being capable of turning every dream into reality is great, but it does make Shattered Reality very reliant on collecting and having usable dreams (which isn’t the easiest thing to do). Otherwise it's pretty much useless.
    > Personal Focus: The damaging side of Shattered Reality is mostly found on the nightmare side, an area that Alfonse doesn't particularly expertise in. Due to him focusing on the good dreams, Alfonse's version of Shattered Reality lacks high damage when compared to other types of magic.
    > Mentally harsh: Overuse of nightmares can cause for stress and drastic negative changes on one's own way of thinking (Could make someone more pessimistic or aggressive etc). It also causes for a higher frequency of nightmares, which is definitely not enjoyable.

    Lineage:
    Nature's Blessings:

Description: Aeons ago, when ancient and mythic beings roamed the world. There was a race called the children of the forest. They are one with nature and as such they were bestowed with longevity and the ability to vanish within the trees. Eventually, with the uprising of the humans, they were forced to the innermost sanctum of the forests. However, a handful of them insisted on staying where they were, regardless of the impending human contact. Some say some of them managed to co-mingle with the humans, but that was just hearsay...or is it?
Ability: It grants the user greater stamina allowing them to last longer in battles. Also grants the ability Vanish, a skill that allows the user to be invisible so as long as he/she is near vegetation(group of trees, shrubs or tall weeds) if they are not moving.
Usage: Passive. The user can still be sensed through magical presence and other senses but this will only help others know the vicinity the user is in and not their exact position.

    DREAMS & NIGHTMARES

    Unique Abilities:
    > (D) Dream catcher: As an ability that allows Shattered Reality to function and grow, Dream-catcher is extremely important. Dream-catcher not only gives Alfonse the ability to completely memorize his own dreams, but also see and store those of others. This is achieved by interlocking hands with a person, followed up by both participants closing their eyes. Alfonse can then rapidly see through the parts of dreams they’ve personally remembered, instantly storing them in his own mind. Dream-catcher can also be used on a sleeping target, allowing him to see every single dream they’ve ever had. Catching the dreams of a sleeping person is thus much more valuable, however does take more energy to do. Overusing this ability will cause for heavy headaches, dizziness and could even lead to Alfonse passing out. (Requires permission to be used on other characters)
    ~
    > (D) Two-faced: Shattered Reality turned his aura into a total mess, though luckily one that isn’t generally visible considering it takes special abilities to see someone’s aura. This unique ability causes Alfonse’s aura to completely change depending on the type of spells he recently used. The use of a dream-based spell shifts his aura into “dream phase”, a colourful display of mostly blue and purple, while nightmare-based spells turn it into a collection of dark blue and black. There is also a neutral state, in which both combinations of colours are displayed.

Alfonse starts every thread in his neutral state. Using a dream ability will cause him to go into dream phase, increasing the effectiveness of healing/buffing spells by 20%. Using a nightmare-based spell when in his neutral state will cause Alfonse to enter nightmare phase, causing damaging abilities to deal 20% bonus damage. Using an ability of the opposite type (example: being in dream phase and using a nightmare-based spell) will cause the aura to return to the neutral state. Only spells belonging to the phase will be affected, thus dream-based damaging spells won’t react to the 20% damage boost granted by nightmare phase.
    ~
    > (D) Defying Reality: An ability that grants Alfonse increased speed and mobility by recalling the many dreams in which he was much more nimble than in real life. The buff will boost his speed by 25%, increasing with 5% every rank. Defying Reality consumes 1 MP every active turn, and can be toggled on or off whenever Alfonse wants to.

    Spell List
    D RANK SPELLS:

    Safety:

    Name: Safety
    Rank: D
    Type: Defensive, Dream
    Duration: 1
    Cooldown: 2
Description: Through using the common sense of safety within good dreams, Alfonse can quickly materialize a magical see-through dome that shields him and any allies from incoming threats. This dome’s diameter can range from 1 to 10 meters, and will instantly appear upon starting the spell which is achieved by Alfonse spreading his arms, closing his eyes and thinking of the ability’s name. This dome is a solid object that thus cannot be simply walked through. It takes a total of 2 D rank damage to break the barrier, which will cause it to quickly vanish and go on cooldown. The barrier is also removed if Alfonse lowers his arms or moves too much from the spot from which he casted the spell.
    Strengths:
    > Can protect multiple people at once
    > Takes up to 2 D rank attacks before breaking
    Weaknesses:
    > Stationary, thus essentially temporarily traps everyone within the barrier in a certain spot.
    > Will force Alfonse to stand still with his arms spread, failing to do so will remove the barrier.
    > Since the shield has the shape of a dome, the barrier does not protect people from damage coming from underneath.
    Fae Trickster:

    Name: Fae trickster
    Rank: D
    Type: Supportive, Summon, Dream
    Duration: 2
    Cooldown: 3
Description: When he was younger, Alfonse was once told a story about magical fairies who secretly lived alongside humans. This story quickly made its way into several dreams of his, which now allows him to bring one of those fairies to life. By cupping his hands, closing his eyes and focusing on his former dream, Alfonse brings forth a small fairy with a spirit-like appearance due to it being completely light-purple and slightly see-through.
Passive: Due to the summon taking shape of a fairy, it is capable of flight at 20 MPH, greatly increasing the fickle creature's mobility.
Active Ability: Glitterbomb: The fairy generates a small orb of magical glittery dust that it can fire towards a target. Upon a successful hit the projectile releases a colourful and dazzling explosion that roughly affects the surrounding 5 meters, dealing 0.5 D rank damage to any targets hit. Additionally, all targets hit that looked at the explosion will be greeted with a temporary blinding effect that lasts for 1 turn. Glitterbomb can move at 11 m/s with a max range of 15 meters, has a 1 post duration and a 2 post cooldown.
    Strengths:
    > Has access to a blinding effect
    > The fairy can aid Alfonse in certain situations such as searching for something.
    Weaknesses:
    > Alfonse is forced to close his eyes upon summoning the little creature, leaving him temporarily vulnerable
    > Not very useful when fighting against only 1 target.
    > The fairy doesn’t have any defensive abilities, thus can be quite easily defeated.
    Pain:

    Name: Pain
    Rank: D
    Type: Offensive, Nightmare
    Duration: 2
    Cooldown: 3
Description: An ability that allows Alfonse to temporarily mend the pain within nightmares into a weightless longsword that can either be summoned in his hand or hovering beside him. The sword can be fired forward roughly 15 meters at 11 m/s, or can be wielded by Alfonse as a regular sword. On hit, Pain deals 7HP damage and causes the pain of the impact to be felt throughout the entire body, causing for a rather unpleasant experience. The sword can take 50 damage before disappearing.
    Strengths:
    > Allows Alfonse to quickly deal damage.
    Weaknesses:
    > If chosen to be wielded by Alfonse the sword will release a constant stinging pain felt through his entire hand(s), which can be quite a hindrance.
    > Has no supportive or defensive uses
    Fragment:

    Name: Fragment
    Rank: D
Type: Utility, Neutral (not a dream or a nightmare)
    Duration: 2
    Cooldown: 3
Description: Through a very easy ritual that only requires a little bit of patience and focus (closing his eyes and thinking about said dream), Alfonse can call forth a single particular dream. This dream manifests itself into a small bubble that’s filled with brighter or darker colours depending on the emotion and general story of said dream. Alfonse can increase the size of the bubble and kind of make it function like a crystal ball, thus capable of showing any part of the dream to anyone that looks at it. Alfonse can show the dream even better by increasing it to a size of up to 30 meters in diameter. The insides of the bubble will then mend to the specific part of the dream he wants to show, allowing anyone within the bubble to essentially witness it as if they’re inside it. The bubble, however, can only create illusions (the entire visualization inside the bubble is made of slightly faint images). The images will temporarily dissipate upon being touched, and can in no way be interacted with. Fragment simply allows for the viewing of certain dreams or nightmares, and that’s its only use. The bubble itself can be moved through without even feeling anything, as Fragment can only be perceived with one’s eyes and ears. Alfonse can make the bubble disappear by simply snapping his fingers.
    Strengths:
    > Despite the slight faint of the images, Fragment can still be a pretty good way of blocking someone’s view or temporarily distracting an opponent.
    Weaknesses:
    > Nothing but an illusion. It can in no way be interacted with and can be destroyed with the simple slash of a weak weapon or even 0.1 D rank damage.
    > Due to the images being a little faint/see-through, Fragment doesn’t allow for the most believable illusions.

This might have alluded you but you put two different percents for the damage buff, so just make it clear as to which is the actual buff percentage

By cupping his hands, closing his eyes and focusing on his former dream, Alfonse brings forth a small fairy with a spirit-like appearance due to it being completely light-purple and slightly see-through.  This fairy can passively fly at 20 MPH.
This sword follows requip rules in terms of damage. Since this is a D-Rank sword, it can do 7HP/slash as well as the sword can only take 50 damage before dissipating.

    Strengths:
    > Allows Alfonse to quickly deal damage.
