    Enough Monkeying Around! [job~Eve]

Post by Strawberry on 10th July 2017, 5:26 pm

This was a beautiful day. Birds were chirping, the sun was shining, and all felt like it couldn't get any better. The people of a village nearby the Spooky Forest were all enjoying a meal hand cooked by a mysterious maid that just appeared in their town one day. She fed the hungry and offered to do all of the work on their fields and it seemed like she never got exhausted. None questioned her motive - as they all seemed her to just be some blessing from the gods. And they'd be partially correct, as the maid had no ill intent, but she wasn't sent for them in particular. She just so happened to get there before anywhere else.

Strawberry was just about to leave, she had picked all of the food from the fields and had cooked a few days worth of food for those that needed it, until someone ran up to her. An old man exclaimed that a Vulcan - a large ape monster - swooped in with its bretheren and stole it all! This infuriated the maid, and she promised to get it back one way or another. She knew she couldn't fight, and she knew she'd probably get some damage along the way. But she never felt exhaustion, and she could always be repaired. So her best bet was to grab the food and run like hell. It was a good - nay, a great plan!

Except for all of the ways it wasn't.

Now she was in the palms of a giant ape, as though this were a telling of the tale of King Kong. Strawberry had no idea how this beast could support her weight while hanging onto the tree, she weighed almost a quarter of a ton! But the beast didn't really have the motive of hurting the maid, instead it just wanted to hold her, swinging from tree to tree easily. She didn't know what he wanted, but she didn't want to know.

    "HEEELLLLLLLLLLLLP"

Screamed the maid. How did she even get into this mess? She was just walking along, looking for the food, until out of nowhere she was flying through the trees.

"HELLLLLLLLLLP!!!!! Oh man... How did I get myself into this...?"

"Today is the day~" Delta sang lightly as she nonchalantly battered her companion's face with a pillow to rouse her from barely two hours of sleep. "Could you not?!?" Eve immediately sat up straight as a board and nearly roared the words before realizing that they weren't sleeping on a park bench in Hargeon Town any more. Instead, the pair was in the guild headquarters... well, hopefully she hadn't woken up her new comrades. That'd be a horrifying start to her time with the organization. "Jesu, Delta," Eve groaned, flopping back down. She winced when her head hit the mattress roughly. "First you take my pillow, then you go and sing, and then you see fit to hit me with the blasted thing. It's no wonder that your parents abandoned you as a baby," she jibed, and Delta simply turned away. "We're collecting strawberries today. I heard there is a patch on the edge of Desierto that was magically fertilized and will only bloom for a few more days, so let's go." With that being said, the naiad dragged Eve by her wrists through the door (which was roughly shoved open with the sprite's back) and pulled her the entire way to the exit of the guild hall. "Wait, did you say Desierto? I hope you know that I don't have-" "Just go to sleep again, I'll carry you," the faerie insisted stiffly. "Well if you want me to shut up that badly,-" "I do." "How rude!" "You're so loud. If you wake up the whole guild with your racket, I will not be the rude one." Then she dropped the girl's wrists because it probably wasn't healthy to just tug at her from one part so roughly, and immediately after she scooped up the female in her arms.

So Eve proceeded to fall asleep and let Delta carry her the whole time. At least this way, she wasn't about to be dragged on the floor and ground and who the hell knows where, for hours on end.

Several hours later, red eyes opened wide and the mage struggled furiously to get out of the naiad's grasp. Surprised, the pale haired sprite promptly dropped her on the ground. Okay, that hurt, but whatever. "Delta, where are we?" "... not in Desierto. Don't run off on me, I need to take a break from carrying you. Lose some weight." Eve chose to ignore the latter part of her statement and instead focused on the beginning. "Good, because we would've been illegal. I was trying to tell you earlier, I don't have my passport with me. Wait, what the hell, I'm not even dressed! DELTA?" She wasn't obviously indecent by any means exactly, but a thin pink nightgown wasn't what Eve liked to wear for picking strawberries. "Everything is your fault," Delta finally mumbled. "Yeah yeah, okay. Let's just pick strawberries around here. There's gotta be some, forests are supposed to have everything," the mage tried to remedy the situation. "I'm pretty sure that's not how it works, but whatever. Here, put on some clothes." She pulled her top dress layer over her head and tossed it at Eve; the naiad typically wore a lot of clothes because she wasn't used to the reduced density of a gaseous atmosphere and the increased weight from fabric helped her out. Long story short, she had extra to spare, even if they wouldn't fit very well. "I'll start searching. Find me later."

Then she disappeared, and Eve was left with a mouthful of fabric that was chucked at her face, and a highly confused state of mind. "Find you? What the- HOW? DELTA I AM NOT THE IDIOT HERE!"

The naiad however was happy to wander around the forest alone. She found a few strawberry plants here and there, but the faerie wasn't exactly sure if they really were strawberries or if the pair had already discovered the type. Analysis could always happen later though, so she carefully gathered samples and deposited them somewhere in her robes. Delta would fish them out later-

    "HELLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!..."

She blinked as an enormous shape flew by overhead, along with a voice that seemed to trail off. Hello, Doppler Effect. But seriously, what the hell? "Is that Strawberry?" the naiad wondered out loud, squinting at what seemed to be a brunette in... a giant monkey's hand. Okay, well if she was being dragged off by a giant monkey then that was her own weird business- wait, what was she saying? They were supposed to rescue her! Delta immediately began chasing after the vulcan and the still-unknown person, her eyes blinking with puzzlement. "DO SOMETHING" she shouted as loudly as she could manage, in the hopes that either Eve or the captured person would hear.

Finally! A savior! And a familiar face at that! Strawberry wouldn't have to face her predicament in the eyes of some stranger, although Delta could come off as a bit of a stranger to the robot, but strange as a method of describing her character, not their relationship. Albeit just acquantences Strawberry was relieved just a tad bit more, and now she felt confident she could get out of this situation.

"Hey uh... Mr. Vulcan? Can you quite possibly let me go?"

The Vulcan shook its head. At least she knew it could understand her.

    "Pretty please?"

    Still a no.

"Pretty please with a chocolate sundae?"

    Still... No.

The maid looked angry, or rather frustrated, at the ape. She however hung limp in the ape's grasp, not deciding to fight anymore and simply submit until she got the chance. She didn't lose any endurance, as she was a machine, but even the robotic maid knew when a lost cause was a lost cause.

"I'VE DONE ALL I CAN DO! CALL FOR HELLLLLLLLP!!!!!"

She was at the mercy of the ape. The pair was coming up on a pair of trees that were surprisingly close to one another. The maid suddenly had an idea! It was foolproof!

    "ReQuip! The Mop!"

A magic circle appeared in her hands, and suddenly a mop appeared inside of them. Holding her hands out, she attempted to stop the ape's force by snagging the mop between the two trees! It couldn't fail, it was 100% guran-

    SNAP

The mop broke in half. It couldn't handle the force of the ape, and it snapped. Such a foolproof plan was stopped super easily by the Vulcan. Strawberry was beginning to wonder who was the smarter being between the two of them. The machine or... The... Giant ape...

    "HELP ME GOSH DARRRNNNN ITTTTTTTT!!!"
