Rainy Day [Solo Job] Empty Rainy Day [Solo Job]

Post by Ricken 10th December 2016, 10:02 pm

Ricken exited off of the railway station into the small town of Oshibana, the sky cloudy and storms were rolling in. Rain was lightly falling from the sky creating small puddles on the ground. Ricken had been dreading his trip here, he hated killing especially those who did not deserve death... This had felt like one of those times... an innocent soul having death brought upon them, even though whoever requested this wanted death to come, Ricken still could not get the ache out of his chest.

Ricken took note of how quiet the town was, it was almost as if no one lived here at all... The job had said the mans house was towards the center of town on a large hill-top. Ricken pulled up his scarf and began to walk towards the center of town. Along the way he had taken note of the small shops and occasional animal that crossed his path, the town would have made Ricken feel at ease if it wasn't for the looming feeling of death hanging above his own head.

Ricken had soon arrived and spotted the small cottage on a beautiful hill overlooking the town accompanied by a small flower path however, the flowers were wilting and almost symbolized the same fate that lead to the cottage... As Ricken arrived at the cottage the rain was a bit heavier but still not too bad. He had knocked on the old wooden door nervously shaking with every passing second. Would he strike with no warning? Would he change his mind? Could he convince the warrior to change his mind? Was he even strong enough to fight this warrior?

Shuffling could be heard from inside and soon the door opened to an elderly man, he was hunched over and had long silvery white hair hanging over his eyes. "Can I help you...?" Ricken had not said a word, only looking towards the ground showing the man his celestial keys. He nodded and beckoned Ricken inside. Ricken looked at the man for a moment and stepped inside. It was warm and cozy inside, a pot of tea was boiling over a small stone fire place, a small one person bed was in the corner lazily made almost as if he had just gotten out of it, finally a small book was left open at a wooden table. The man had motioned for Ricken to sit and offered Ricken a cup of tea, Ricken nodded as his nerves were calming but still not entirely gone.

"Is there anyway I can convince you to change your mind...?" The elderly man sat down at the table and looked at Ricken, he smiled and spoke with such calmness. "My boy... my time is coming to an end soon... I would rather end it with a good fight rather than trying to get out of bed in the morning." Ricken looked at his tea and took a small sip, it was true that he had hated killing but... he was fulfilling this mans last request, one last duel. The man had soon stood up going to a small chest located in the corner of the room, he pulled out a steel long sword and a tiny wooden kite shield. He had motioned Ricken to follow him.

Ricken and the man were in a small open field behind the cottage, the rain had slowed back down again but the sky was still a cold, unfeeling grey. The man had prepared his shield and sword and stood at one end of the field. Ricken followed suit and took his stance at the opposite end. The man had bowed and brought up his blade. Ricken had reached down and pulled out one of his keys... calling forth his spirit, a flash of light enveloped the area.

After the light had faded, his spirit was standing proud ready to battle...

The man had made the first move, rushing at Squire, this had taken Squire by surprising and managed to get nicked in the shoulder cutting through his attire. Squire retaliated by throwing a quick punch towards the man, The man blocked with his frail shield which shattered after only one attack. The man had swept Squires feet with a low kick knocking the spirit down. The man had slashed his blade downward but just as his blade was about to make contact Squire's hands began to get enveloped in a white wind, Squire was faster than the blade and had managed to get a direct punch on the mans face knocking him backwards on the ground.

Just as the man was about to get up Squire appeared with the blade the man once wielded in his hands. The man looked at the spirit and nodded smiling at his defeat. Ricken had looked away but could hear the groan of pain as the man had been defeated. Ricken was shaking with fear, this was the purpose of his spirits... to do the dirty work as Ricken watched from the sidelines... As Ricken had continued to fear the rain had stopped and sun could be soon peeking out from behind the dull grey clouds that felt like a plague over the town, the sun soon enveloped the town with a blanket of pure light, the sun felt warm now easing his fears. Ricken knew this is what he had to do and the right decision was made... peace was brought upon his restless soul.

Ricken had spend the rest of the day burying the man and creating a gravestone for him. He had made it out of wood but etched the words "An honorable warrior, rest now and be free in Valhalla" Ricken had left a small pile of flowers at the grave and began to walk towards the train station again to make his trip back to town and report his... "Success" Ricken had felt good, and bad about the events today but... he knew he was stronger from this and could stronger challenges with his new found strength and bravery.
