Shattered Reality [Job; Irina, Magna] Empty Shattered Reality [Job; Irina, Magna]

Post by Irina Naginata Fri 22 Jul - 6:28

    Job Details:

    Job Title: Shattered Reality
    Rank: A
Player Requirements: Two mages minimum, B rank or higher, All participants must have completed The Hunter.
Job Requirements: 400 words minimum per post, 45 posts minimum. All participants must roll 10 monster dice at the beginning of the job determining exactly what you will face within, addition boss monsters after the first one rolled becomes strong monsters.
Job Location: Catacombs of the Ancient Ruins
Job Description: After dealing with the rather bothersome treasure hunter known as Harper Goldshine the Magic Council sent an expedition into the ancient ruins in order to find a way to safeguard the secrets within the vault. As a result they uncovered a secret passage deeper into the ruins, so deep in fact that it took an hour just walking down the stairs. After discovering the chamber at the bottom they discovered several passages leading deep into the catacombs of the ruins though most were sealed shut, one in particular was ruined. The majority of the expedition of both rune knights and explorers went missing while the few who returned went mad explaining the horrors of within and how there may still be survivors though most of their words were met with insanity. Not willing to leave any survivors down inside the catacombs the council calls on abled bodied wizards to go and investigate and get as many survivors out as they can as well as attempt to resolve the issue beneath. Though they are being optimistic on the survivors the magic council demands that you deal with the horrors within in order to protect the surface.

Special Notes: Paranoia, all creatures in the ruins inflict a status debuff called paranoia, this can be cleansed with light based cleansing but otherwise will not be removed. Paranoia reduces health regen by 1% for every 25 Paranoia, and if no health regen is present or paranoia is too high, will begin taking 5 damage for every 25 paranoia instead. This also can be ripped from ones soul by the boss. Paranoia will not naturally decrease while in the catacombs.

    Enemies:
Weak: Ravenous Phantasm + 10 Lost Soul, Phantasms are creatures created by a rift in reality, naturally docile some become ravenous and attempt to feed off the essence of living beings. As a result phantasms destroy the soul and fuse to body to create Lost Souls. The Lost Souls are twisted forms of what used to be the Rune Knights sent in to monitor the area and are naturally tough but lack power being capable of taking damage 5 A ranks worth but will only do D rank melee damage with their attacks. Likewise where there are lost souls there are also phantasms, phantasms are naturally weak against light and darkness being one shot regardless of rank. They are extremely dangerous for all living beings capable of inflicting A rank spell damage ignoring all forms of defense as well as inflicting 5 paranoia on their psych. Ravenous Phantasms can take up to 3 A ranks of damage.

Normal: Murderous Phantasm + 5 Ravenous Phantasm + 5 Lost Soul, Murderous Phantasms are a level that a ravenous Phantasm reaches should they be left for far too long. Murderous phantasms are known to go berserk making them hard to hit as well as extremely unpredictable and fast making fleeing almost impossible. They are much tougher than other phantasms as they are no longer weak to darkness but are still one shot by light regardless of rank and their attacks deal A rank magic damage plus B rank magic damage through defenses and apply 10 paranoia. They are also accompanied by Ravenous Phantasms and Lost Souls. Murderous Phantasms can take up to 6 A ranks worth of damage.

Strong: Massive Phantasm + 5 Murderous Phantasm, Massive Phantasms are once again lesser phantasms that have grown through the stages of Ravenous to Murderous and have become huge, usually they can not leave the large chambers they take up host in but they also usually find chambers that are of importance for progressing through the catacombs. They’re massive size makes them slow and lumbering as well as easy to hit and they are once again no longer weak against darkness but extremely weak against light as it can one shot them regardless of rank. They are extremely tough otherwise as they can take up to 10 A rank damage damage and can hit extremely hard doing double A rank damage per hit through defenses but can only attack twice per post, each attack applies 15 paranoia.

Boss: Massa Phantasma + 3 Massive Phantasm, Massa Phantasma a creature of chaotic nature created in the form of a dragon by the rift in reality by a sword hidden at the back of the largest chamber in the catacombs. The room is so big that it can house both the immense size of Massa Phantasma and 3 Massive Phantasms which are capable of moving quite freely. Massa Phantasma does no damage but instead inflicts 50 paranoia per hit and can cast two spells while being capable of absorbing 15 A rank spell damage and isn’t weak to light or darkness unlike the other phantasms. (NOTE: Once Irina Naginata has completed this mission the sword will no longer exist but the effects of it will remain.)

    ”Phantoms Nova Breath”:
Massa Phantasma breaths out chaotic energy breath dealing A rank spell damage to every living being in its path while applying 100 paranoia.
    ”Feed on their Paranoia”:
Massa Phantasma rips the paranoia from its victims dealing 25% of the current paranoia stacks as damage. This spell will never drop those inflicted below 1 health and will reset paranoia to 0 while inflicting those affected with fear making them unable to cast spells for 1 post for every 50 paranoia.

Heavy footsteps sounded about the rickety guild hall... or what was decided to be the new guild hall after it had been chosen out of a bunch of run down buildings in the middle of Rose Garden. The footsteps belonged to Irina Naginata in all of her glory as she stormed through the halls with an important notice in hand, the notice was a job issued directly by the Magic Council as an urgent request. Normally jobs would be posted in the main hall for the guild to pick and choose from but this was a special case based off of its urgency and the level of danger involved. Irina was looking for a particular member of the guild, one she knew she would be able to trust. Normally such a person would be the guilds master whom had recently become Izayuki, but in this case the person in question was another ace of the guild known as Magna. It was strange as Irina rarely choose to go on jobs with Magna, usually because she was taking one of the weaker mages in order to push their progression or it was with whomever she found at the time. Today however she chose Magna in order to ensure that the job was completed properly as well as safely.

Knowing Magna he was probably in the kitchen whipping up some sort of meal, as was his hobby and essentially his very soul as his magic was even built around his love for cooking. This was also a ploy to get Irina a extremely tasty meal but the matter of completing the job came first on this occasion. Knocking on the door to the kitchen as she entered she announced herself with a stern voice. "Magna Victus, I have an urgent request that requires our attention." She announced her intention to go on a job with him which was then followed by a sly grin. "Also I have an urgent need for a good meal." She also stated letting her appetite get the better of her. She knew she was supposed to put the job before her want of food a trait she detested yet couldn't help but feel gluttonous, if she were the antithesis of herself she may as well have been a glutinous demon. She stood in the doorway waiting for an answer to her demands which she wasn't about to let Magna escape from, even if he had some sort of excuse not to comply.

Shattered Reality [Job; Irina, Magna] Empty Re: Shattered Reality [Job; Irina, Magna]

Post by Shard Fri 22 Jul - 7:11

Magna at the time of Irina's arrival had been in the middle of cooking one of his speciality dishes. It was one he'd used time and again to win competitions. An ace up the sleeve of the ace so to speak. However, today he was doing something slightly different. Recently, he had come into the acquisition of a large crystal or more accurately part of a large crystal. This crystal was almost unique in that it was the perfect grindstone and the 'dust' generated from grinding against it provided a seasoning that was incredibly potent. The problem was that potency though. It had a ton of flavour, but if it wasn't put with something that it complemented well then it would simply overpower it and the harmony would be lost. The dust itself was silver in colour and in his mind he felt that it would go well with something equally beautiful.

The dish he was preparing was known as hujiao bing. It was normally cooked using minced pork spare ribs seasoned with black pepper, five spice powder and black pepper. This was wrapped into dough made of all purpose flour, coated lightly in mild sesame oil and then placed inside a clay oven. Many could be cooked at once and the unique cooking method normally attracted a lot of visitors. Magna however had brought it into the kitchen for experimentation.

He had replaced the usual pork spare ribs with a bit of a more potent meat. This meat, known as jewel meat, would normally overpower the spices. However, with the addition of the diamond dust he was hoping it would be able to compliment the meat and bring out an even higher level of flavour. Of course, the spices themselves would also need to be enhanced so he was using onion banana instead of regular onion and singularity pepper. So far he'd never found anything that worked well with the all consuming pepper, but he was willing to give it a shot. He'd also used another crystalline ingredient known as star spice powder.

It just so happened though that at the moment that Irina walked in asking for his help and for some food he'd just finished the first batch. "Well, you couldn't of timed that better. I hope you like food with a bit of spice." he said pulling out a couple of the buns, from seperate clay ovens, and putting them onto a plate conjured from nowhere and offering it to her. "Its a new recipe which should work well I think" he paused and then reworded the statement slightly. "Well, one is my original recipe and one is the new recipe. The new one is one colour and the old one is another. Tell me what you think of both and which you prefer." This hadn't been intentional but it seemed that the combination of ingredients had caused the new hujiao bing to gain a slight golden sheen with flecks of white compared to the traditional brown and white of the normal ones.

With that he pulled out one of each for himself and put them into a plate. He wouldn't make anyone eat something if he wouldn't himself and besides he trusted his sense of taste a fair bit. The smell of both was intoxicating and enough to whet the appetite of most. He'd have to consider a vegetarian alternative. Perhaps using sapphire nuts instead of the jewel meat. Before he bit into the old one he spoke again. "What's the urgent request anyway?" he wondered if she'd come especially to get his help or if she just needed someone high up in the guild and had been hungry at the time. It wasn't clear yet, but he was sure he'd find out. He had been looking for another job to go on. The ingredients he'd bought for this little experiment had been a tad expensive and ever since the move he hadn't be able to get the funding he used to. So any job he could take would be useful.

"Hmmmmmmm." Irina hummed in thought as she examined the buns, of course this didn't last cause the next thing anyone knew there were nothing but empty plates sitting there... while Irina was still inspecting them. She had a tendency to make any food offered to her vanish without anyone even noticing that it even happened. "I say they are both scrumptious." She said with a rather blank expression on her face. "But where are they?" She was completely oblivious that she had eaten them herself, it was extremely odd considering that the taste should still linger in her own mouth. She then shook her head and returned to her previous serious state. "Right never mind, we have an urgent request from the magic council regarding missing Rune Knights, as well as, ones going mad." She stated holding up the letter for Magna to read. "Apparently they found a locked tomb behind the vault in the ancient ruins. The same vault that housed relics of the previous Wizard Saints." Placing the letter on the counter she crossed her arms and looked at Magna deeply. "Likewise I wouldn't trust just anyone to do this mission, that is why I decided to the two of us will go, it is a matter of us being strong enough to handle such a danger, and I wouldn't allow anyone else in the guild to put themselves into such a situation." She made her intentions clear, in a very harsh and commanding tone, she knew she could rely on the guild but she was doing this to protect them not for her own gain.

"I'll give you some time to read through the details and prepare yourself, we leave within the hour." She exclaimed as she left leaving the letter on the counter. The letter read, This is an urgent request to all guilds marked as legal, we have uncovered a catacombs underneath the ruins, in the catacombs there were four passages, three of which were sealed shut but the fourth was left with the door shattered leading into darkness. We sent men into the dark and many didn't return while those that did returned maddened speaking about ghosts and something about a dragon. This has been classified as a search and rescue and your response is need immediately with abled bodies wizards capable of handling what lies within. The letter was signed, The Magic Council.

Magna watched with a raise eyebrow as suddenly the food was gone. He wasn't even sure if he saw a blur of movement. Just one moment the food was there and the next moment it was gone. She commented on the taste, but herself seemed confused as to where the food had gone. It was a rather odd situation and not one he was quite sure how to process it. However, it did seem he would not have much time to ponder on the situation because right now it seemed they had received an urgent request and not just any urgent request, but one from the magic council themselves. It seemed some rune knights had gone missing and others had gone mad when exploring a hidden chamber that was behind the old wizard saint treasure chamber he'd helped defend from some crystal wielding mage. What surprised him more though was the fact that Irina had came to him specifically for this job as he thought the pair would be some of the few strong enough to actually deal with the situation. He didn't get time to ask questions though because before he even had a chance she'd headed off leaving the message behind. It seemed she was the take charge kind and wanted to leave within the hour. That at least gave him some time to clean up and get ready.

With that he headed to the kitchen and quickly cleaned everything away, storing some of the meat buns in his pocket dimension for later, and then read over the note. It was typical of the rune knights to get themselves into scrapes. In truth, he had heard little good of them and if they were good why was there still so much crime? Even in Rose Garden he'd encountered drugs and the like. Still, he had found the treasure which lead to this catacomb so it seemed it was only right for him to go help. He had no idea that Irina had also defended that treasure from hunters.

With quick motion he changed out of his cooking gear and into more travel-ready gear and made sure he had his chef hat in his pocket, his headband tied around his wrist, and his trusty knife at his side. With those things ready and prepared he headed to the guild entrance to await Irina. When she arrived he asked one thing. "So how are we getting there? On foot or by coach?"

Shattered Reality [Job; Irina, Magna] Empty Re: Shattered Reality [Job; Irina, Magna]

Post by Irina Naginata Fri 26 Aug - 21:52

Irina stared at Magna for a moment, he was asking if they wanted to go by coach as if the guild had the kind of funds to use that form of transportation. Taking a deep breath she looked at Magna quite angrily. "AS IF WE CAN PAY FOR A COACH YOU DIMWIT! USE YOUR OWN TWO FEET!" She shouted as she started to lumber towards him only stopping when she noticed a lone banana on the counter which promptly vanished leaving nothing but the banana peel. "Right, we were leaving right." She said completely unaware of her previous actions as her angry lumbering turned to a normal stroll. Upon reaching the outside however she walked up to a coach and handed the man a few jewels. "Right lets get going." She called Magna despite saying that they should just walk only moments ago. She climbed into the coach and took a seat waiting for her partner to join her before they left.

The trip was rather long and rather quiet, Irina wasn't much of the talkative type when she was serious. As the coach traveled along the road towards a stop to the ancient ruins Irina watched as the trees passed by looking rather solemn but at the same time she appeared to be worried. "Yo." She finally piped up to catch Magna's attention. "If you were asked to cook something without any ingredients, or if you had to cook something without any tools to cook with, what would you do?" She asked still watching out the coach windows. She turned to face Magna while her hand moved to her side where the hilt of a sword would have usually been. It may have been clear that Irina was concerned about her capabilities without a weapon but more so she was concerned about if she were capable of protecting her partner without one. The cart hit a bump in the road causing Irina to jump from her seat and hit the roof. "ow..." She said in a rather unimpressed tone. "HEY COACH GUY ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE US DIE FROM HEAD TRAUMA!" She shouted at the driver who brought the coach to a stop. "Hey, why are you stopping." Irina questioned going from angry to confused. "Your destination miss." The Coach driver said in an annoyed tone prompting Irina to look out the window to see the ancient ruins in the distance. "This is as close as I can take you." He grumbled.

Magna was quite taken back by her response. He knew that the guild had funding issues since the incident with cassie and moving to Rose Garden, but it wasn't that bad that they couldn't afford a coach. Even if the guild couldn't afford to pay for it Magna certainly could. He wasn't exactly poor after all. He was a famous chef after all. Her advancement towards him caused him to reach towards his waist for the dagger, but it seemed she was distracted by a banana of all things. Shortly, after that she did the last thing he expected and went and paid for a coach. This woman was strange. A split personality perhaps? Or perhaps the banana, being full of potassium, had triggered some sort of memory so she remembered she had money? It was rather odd in truth.

The coach trip was rather uneventful for the most part until she asked him a rather odd question. One that seemed to have come out of nowhere. It was a rather puzzling question in truth. "A tough question, but for the latter...my hands can work quite well in place of tools, but there are also some dishes that don't require anything other than tha hands as tools. Though as I've said i've trained with my hands so they are good as tools...my entire body can be in a way. I've trained myself to think of knives." he said with a shrug though his words may have seen slightly mystic. There wasn't much that could be said in regards to that. The other part of the question was a lot harder to answer. How could one cook without ingredients? Well, for Magna almost everything was an ingredients. [color=darked]"Well, in that case there isn't much I can do though for me even the spirit of someone or something can be an ingredient. Its just finding the right people other than myself who can eat it."/color] Yes, everything could be an ingredient to the chef for everything, in some way, had a spirit of sort. Even rocks could be prepared with the right knowledge. Though in truth his skill was not quite at that level yet and he'd much rather work with more traditional ingredients even if they were exotic or rare like the jewel meat and crystal dust he'd used for the meat buns. "Why do you ask?" He was curious about her questioning. It had come completely out of left field and in a way didn't make much sense. He had noticed the hand go to the sword, but decided not to mention it. IT was clear she was missing something and was perhaps worried.

Eventually though the pair arrived at the destination or at least as near as the coach driver was willing to go and disembarked. With a flick of his wrist he sent a few jewels towards the coach driver. "Thanks for the safe trip. Hang about and you'll get double on the way back"
