Post by Benjamin 13th June 2016, 12:46 am

Somewhere deep within the forests that lay between Hargeon and Akane Beach, something peculiar would soon come to pass. On this day, in these woods, a being would arise that tread the boundary between the corporeal and that which exists in a spiritual state. Walking through these lands was a certain gray haired mage that would stand at the center of this event, a man who had  no idea what was about to happen.

Dmitry Kazakov was uncharacteristically exposed at the moment, lost in thought over something that happened a day ago. During a mission to rescue a friend of his, one of his guildmates was nearly trapped in the Cursed Lands. While she was able to return home with the rest of their group through an effect caused by Dmitry's powers, an effect that he still did not understand, the experience had left him with a feeling that he found himself unable to comprehend. At first he tried to dismiss it as a simply heightened version of the normal drive he felt to protect those he cared about, but the thought that this was a false interpretation nagged at him. It felt as though he had felt this sensation long ago, but that couldn't possibly be true as he had no memory of such an occurrence.

Had the Cursed Lands infected him somehow? The question had arisen along the way of this trip he was on, but was quickly shot down by the fact that Dmitry was far too stable in his magical abilities for that to be true. While it was certainly a relief that he didn't have to worry about the malignance of the Cursed Lands following him, the fact remained that he didn't understand the anomalous feeling that was now plaguing him. The one thing that he was certain of was that it had something to do with his guildmate/roommate Evia, not that this knowledge actually helped him. True, the mage certainly felt a bit more protective of her than most of his other guildmates, having noticed something unique about her that he couldn't quite identify since she had joined Lamia Scale. But at the time he noticed this, he had simply chalked it up to her magic being the holy kind and having a 'soft' feeling to it that he had felt once before. Still, it was beginning to seem as though his first instincts may have had some merit to them as he became frustrated with this illogical and pointless feeling, one that he knew could only ever become a hindrance in the future.

And so, still struggling to understand his own mindset, the mage wandered onward into the forest. As he did so, he gave far less regard to the environment around him, eliminating the primary purpose that this location was to serve to him on this little stroll. In truth, his mentor would have likely both chastised and mocked him for his lack of awareness, a thought that crossed Dmitry's mind more than once.

In the end, he could not have possibly known what it was he was walking into...

    Here we go
    277
    bright lights cast DARK SHADOWS
...when shown from a single direction

Oddly enough The Guild Master and her subordinates’ task in the outer woodlands had nothing to do with the wandering Lamia Scale mage… It was another simple assassination mission of sorts. Some hunter in this grove tore out another woman's heart, a typical game for men… and in return she requested a worthy mage do the same, literally, and bring the thing back to her. It was easy, especially with her poison dragon’s help cornering the archer.

Famine stood up from the body, blood dripping out from her fingers as she withdrew her cupped hands from their chest. Looking over her shoulder she turned her attention to Sol, hoping perhaps the client had given them a pouch or sorts to hold the bloody gem in, it was rather inconvenient and...slimy to carry by hand.

“Hold onto this,” and so Famine tossed the jiggling red organ into Sol’s hand. She gave him a quiet, warning, look, “and please refrain from eating it.” She said, though she tried to be serious she couldn’t help but smirk a little about the humor of it.

A moment passed and a slow rise in magic pressure caused her to blink around, soon signaling Sol like her to kneel at the stump of the tree so to remain out of any bystanders sight-- the rustling of leaves grew closer. They could wait for them to pass, which seemed like the smartest option, or get the jump on this new mage before they should be detected… She looked to Sol, hoping he may be able to sniff out some of the more finer details. Famine learned to take advantage of a slayer's senses.

Sol stood beside his guild master as she extracted the heart of their target, it had been an all to easy mission especially when his nose was as good as a bloodhounds and while the archer had tried to attack him with his arrows Sols Gravity magic had nullified that route fast.Catching the bloody organ from the air the slayer make a small pouting noise before he smirked and licked a bit of blood from his fingers and his face curled into a disgusted look”Whatever this mans diet was it doesn’t even make me want to take a bite “ he grimaced as he pulled out a small satchel the client had given them and placed the heart in it before he flicked his hand hard to remove the blood from it.

Suddenly he felt the rise of magical energy along with Famine and he crouched beside her as he sniffed the air, after a moment Sol remembered who this scent belonged too and his face contorted into a look of annoyance.”Its an Lamia Scale mage I remember the bastard, he decided to ruin my fun when I was causing trouble in Clover. can we kill him? ” the green haired man whispered as he asked. The man hated being interrupted and this would be a perfect time to repay the man for what he had done.

    To Famine and Sol:
Long story short, Dmitry missed you guys, through his knife at a tree, coughed a bit, and said some stuff out loud to nobody in the area. The rest is mostly internal stuff.

While Dmitry would have likely noticed the two dark mages hiding behind the tree stump that he had passed by, his ability to pick up such subtleties well trained by his experience in the wild, he was far too lost in his own dilemma at the moment to register any on lookers. There could have been a crowd about three feet away from him at this time and he still would have likely missed it, something that was quite telling for the veteran survivalist. In fact, it was only by sheer coincidence that he hadn't walked into a tree by now, his mind immediately beginning to wander when he had gotten through the treeline and into such a comfortable place for one such as him.

Now that he thought about it, a great many things had begun to change for him when he joined Lamia Scale, the simple fact that he had laughed at the antics that were shown to him upon entering the guildhall for the first time. Among other things, his attitude had changed dramatically, evident by his interactions with his guildmates as well as the townsfolk of Hargeon. Of course, while the overall difference was quite great, the changes happened little by little, leaving him unaware of any shift in his behavior until this point. But looking back, before he became a guild wizard, Dmitry would rarely give other people the time of day, let alone converse at length. True, he hadn't become a ray of sunshine by any means, but his personality had become a great deal more out going and he had little difficulty in dealing with others of his own kind, at least compared to before. While he had never stopped to appraise such changes, he now wondered if this was a weakness or of benefit to him.

Truly, it made him stop and consider his thought process before he entered the world of magic at large, causing him to quite literally stop in his tracks. What was his goal in all that time? What was it he hoped to accomplish, wandering from place to place the way he did? He had never thought of a reason, nor had he ever been presented with one. Dmitry couldn't even think of a reason why he had left the mountain valley he had grown up in, the lack of his childhood memories eliminating any need to remove himself from what remained of his eradicated tribe. In terms of survivability, the journey through the mountains around Mount Hakobe was far more dangerous than the prospect of staying where he was, a fact that forced him to take an entire year to prepare the endeavor. So why? Why take such a risk? Why go out into a world he didn't know or understand in the slightest? What was it that drove him to travel to so many places that meant nothing to him? What was it that he was looking for? And most importantly, what made him stop looking?

The intense frustration he was feeling drove him to draw his knife, which was still tucked into his belt from the day before, and fling it at the nearest tree. A cicada was immediately pinned to the trunk of that tree as the blade hit it's mark, leaving Dmitry to dwell on his inability to understand himself. It was quite ironic, really. His will had allowed him to conquer the very primal forces of nature and command them at will, yet now it was his own thoughts that had become his greatest adversary. As this fact rattled around his mind, the wizard felt a sudden pressure in his throat. He brought a hand to his mouth and began to rapidly cough, unsure of the exact cause. It had been happening like this recently, random coughing fits that didn't seem to have any evident cause. Dmitry couldn't help but wonder if the nuisance was the result of a spiritual phenomenon, his own experience leading him to such a possibility. Such a thought only added to the mountainous pile of things the spirit wielder had to consider at the moment, something that led him to let out a long sigh and look up to the heavens.

"Things sure got wierd," he said aloud.

    "Didn't they...old man"

Die A Hero, Or Live Long Enough To See Yourself Become The Villain

A Lamia Scale mage? Famine yet to bag one of those on her own; her mouth curved up in a sharp grin at the thought... Though what truly fed her urge to engage was the trouble he had caused Sol. Whatever it was, she didn’t take lightly to anyone getting in her guilds way.

“Yes,” Came Famine’s reply in the form of a quiet hiss

It was then Famine rose to her feet and quickly slid out of the bushes until her heels were planted against the same tangled grass trail Dmirtry strode. His back remained facing her-- such an unwatchful fool. She had yet to meet a legal mage as cautious as herself… They had it easy, they were loved by Fiore and never had to sleep with an eye open or continuously peer over their shoulder in peaceful lands like this…

Famine twisted her arms ahead of her and her palms began to beam with a dark aura. Sapphire eyes narrowed on her target. “Shadow make:” An arcane  circle appeared against the palm of her hand in a malevolent burst “Net!” With a surprisingly strong velocity,  the black rope trap projected toward the Lamia mage’s back.

Post by Sol 24th June 2016, 9:49 am

As soon as his guild master told him they could kill the grey haired pest the demons face suddenly split into a frightening grin as he watched the man foolishly overlook their presence here, he would soon learn that it was a fatal mistake to do such a thing. Sol moved with Famine making sure he stayed silent like she was as they stalked the man and the green haired man really was looking forward to causing mass amounts of harm to the one that had caused him to retreat. Seeing Famine starting to cast a spell the slayer calmly placed his hand out beside her so it was past her shoulder and in front of her while she casted.

As soon as the Shadowy net was fired off Sol casted his spell as well and caused a magic circle to appear in front of Famine before it suddenly unleashed a powerful blast of Poison Spheres like a shotgun blast aimed right at the daydreaming lamia mage, he smirked as he knew this was going to really hurt.

    spell:
    Name:Poison Dragons Scales
    Rank: C
    Type: Offensive/
    Duration:Instant
    Cooldown: 2 Post
Description:The user generates a magic circle in front of them before it will fire out 15 spheres of concentrated neurotoxin at the enemy at 15 M/S, the Spheres have a 16 inch radius and are about the size of a softball and deal C rank damage if all of them connect to the target, if half of them connect it will only deal D rank Damage. They can go as far as 30 meters before falling apart
    Strengths:

This spell can follow the target if the user moves his hands
The user can cause the spheres to spread out wide like a shotgun blast all at once or keep then close and continuous like machine gun fire
This spell has the added effect of poisoning the target, At C rank the poison will cause an extra 15 points of Damage next turn along with extreme nausea and possible vomiting.

    Weaknesses:

The Spell will stop if it hits any shield
Earth and Metal spells can block the spheres easily
Mages that are B rank or higher are not effected by the poison
This spell is far less effective against an airborne target as they can maneuver better then on land.

Wolf Rising [Private, Dmitry/Sol/Famine] Empty Re: Wolf Rising [Private, Dmitry/Sol/Famine]

Post by Benjamin 27th June 2016, 1:07 am

As Dmitry looked up to the sky, wondering what in the world it was that he was supposed to make of all this, he suddenly heard what sounded like a spell being cast. Instinct kicking in, the wizard turned to see who was casting this spell and deal with them, but this effort soon proved to be too little too late.

Just as he caught a glimpse of his assailant, he was knocked back a few paces by what seemed to be a type of shadow that wrapped itself around him like a net, restricting nearly all of his movement. Before he could react to the crushing force of his newfound bindings, he was hit with a second spell, one that felt like he was getting hit by over a dozen cannonballs. After he was thrown off his feet by the force of the attack, the grey-hair landed hard and rolled across the ground, the bindings destroyed by the shotgun blast of poison spheres.

Be it from the dark spell or the toxic one that came after it, Dmitry was in a great deal of pain right now. Not only did the shadow net and poison spheres deliver a great deal of force, enough to leave him with a few cracked ribs and no end of bruises, but the venom from the latter attack was obviously a neurotoxin, the evidence being the immense and irrational pain the mage was feeling in the places that were hit. He felt as though his nerve endings were on fire, a feeling Dmitry had felt before, but never on this kind of scale.

However, regardless of the pain he was in right now, this wasn't the time to be lounging on the ground feeling sorry for himself. Right now he had what was most likely two mages trying to end his life and he had to defend himself in whatever way he could, an objective he was quite familiar with.

"Good to see you again, ass-clown." Dmitry said as he pushed himself off the ground, noticing the familiar face from a past battle. "I see you didn't get enough last time, huh? Guess I better get started then..." As soon as he got to his feet, he looked up at the two assailants with a wolfish grin, pupils glowing silver and irises black. An fog-like aura suddenly permeated from him, almost completely obscuring him save for his eyes as he held his hand out in front of him, forming a magic circle that seemed to draw in the thick haze. "I invoke the Swift Hawk: Vedfolnir!" At the call of it's name, a bird of prey formed from the silver aura being drawn into the circle and flew forth, speeding straight at the dark mages in an attempt to scatter them. If they didn't move, the hawk would graze them so as to prevent them from having the chance to block it's path.

As Vedfolnir made his attack, Dmitry ran over to the tree which his knife was still planted in, removing it before running a few paces towards his opponents and disappearing. Using a spell from the Arc of Destiny, the mage reappeared in front of the dragon slayer, knife in a reverse grip. While the hawk spirit was coming back around in an attempt to slash the shadow mage with it's talons, the grey haired mage launched a savage flurry of attacks aimed at different parts of his opponents. The first was an attempt to slash the poison mage across the eyes, in the hopes of blinding him. The second was a left handed left hook aimed aimed at his opponent's ribs, followed up with a heel kick directed at his gut. He would then make a rather open upward slash for the dark mage's face, which he fully expected to be to be blocked. If this was the case, he would pull up his left leg and fire off a kick aimed at the green-hair's right knee, hopefully crippling the limb.

Whether this played out or not, however, Dmitry would find himself coughing again, reeling back a few feet and holding his hand to his mouth. If Vedfolnir was still intact, it would make another pass at the shadow user, this time aiming for her legs. As the grey-hair's violent coughing ceased, he found blood on the hand he had held to his face. The sight distracted him for only a fraction of a second before turning back to his opponent.

Die A Hero, Or Live Long Enough To See Yourself Become The Villain

Azure optics narrowed upon the birds creation, it almost felt like maker magic, as though the hawk were crafted from a sort of smog considering how the hawks body animated.  Smoke seemed to fan from the creature whenever it moved and when it beat its strong wings. Talons outstretched, the hostile avian sped ahead right at them. Famine never tensed, nor moved with the bird racing straight towards her.

With the simple fluttering of her eyelashes the steam billowing from the smokey bird became more and more profuse, and by the time the hawk’s claws were just to graze her face the bird dispersed into a cloud of the smoke and drifted away into the breeze. Perhaps Dimitry would think it was his own spells fluke, or perhaps he would be able to tell it had been Famine who dispelled the bird. Regardless, she was hardly impressed by the spell.

Now targetless, azure optics seeked out the silver haired mage just as he appeared in front of her ace. Rather than spectate the chaotic dance of fists and the Lamia’s blade Famine moved to untuck the soul-bound tome out from under her arm. Still slightly red, blood-stained, fingers filtered through the pages idly all until those piercing blue irises snapped back towards the two wizards in combat, the foe respectively.

She chanted under her breath, her words inaudible. A sudden malevolent and dark aura would ignite from the guildmaster...The grass beneath her heels wilted and died, leaves dried overhead and the trees seemed to grow narrower as there thriving branches ceased to hold any life. The leaves fell like autumn ony they withered and blackened into dust before they could even touch the soil. Not only the Environment would suffer the wrath of her aura, anybody within ten meters,  would feel insanely ill….Including her teammate which she could slowly bid to the sidelines of safety. “Mage, I heard you and my dragon slayer had a bit of a negative encounter.” Famine chirped, silently urging Sol to find a way out of her spell field and coaxing Dmitry to face her.

While the incantations themselves were terrifying enough, Famine’s constant use of them caused an unexpected side effect; a decaying aura. Anyone who came into contact with or even got close to Famine would find themselves beginning to feel nauseous. This feeling would only become more pronounced and more threatening the longer they spent in the Horseman’s presence, eventually to the point where they lacked the strength to fight on. While the Tome of Famine does not grant this effect as a passive like Famine once had, it can be activated at will by the Tome’s wielder.

Anyone who is within 10 meters of the caster will begin to feel nauseous. For every post that passes the opponent will lose 5% of their maximum HP and will have their strength and durability drained by a further 10%.

Anyone who comes into direct contact with the caster will immediately vomit. They suffer from 10% HP loss every post and their strength and durability is decreased by 25% for 5 posts. Spells the victim tries to cast will cost an additional 5% of magical energy. The first effect does not stack on top of this.

Furthermore, any soil, water or element  within the range of this spell  will become cursed and begin rotting, making it inedible and unusable for slayers and mages alike.
      Strengths:
      * A great method of weakening an enemy both physically and mentally by making them feel so ill that they’d wished they’d not left their beds that morning.
*Rots the surrounding area, making it inedible to Slayers and impossible to manipulate and use by mages.
       Weaknesses:
      * This spell only has a range of 10 meters, thus anyone out of that range will not be affected.
      * Famine would not distinguish between friend or foe on the battlefield with exception of the fellow horsemen.  As such, all allies except those who wield a weapon of a Horseman are as equally afflicted by the spell as an enemy would be.
       Duration: 3 posts.
      Cooldown: 6 posts

Wolf Rising [Private, Dmitry/Sol/Famine] Empty Re: Wolf Rising [Private, Dmitry/Sol/Famine]

Post by Sol 19th July 2016, 1:15 pm

Sol didn’t even bother to answer the insult the Lamia mage had thrown at him he just grinned showing off his fangs as his mistress dispelled the mans summon like it was nothing but the mages sudden appearance almost caught him off guard, Sol reacted quickly and managed to blocked the strike to his eyes by catching the mans arm with his own but he was unprepared for the hook to the ribs which made him hiss but caused hims to push back as fast as he could and managed to avoid the knee to his gut and the slash upwards. As the straight kick came towards him Sol twisted his leg so the kick would only graze him and not do that much damage before he suddenly felt his stomach turn and he caught the apperance of Famines beloved tome in his guild masters hands and he knew he needed to get away from her or he was gonna be in the same boat as his opponent

Sol quickly rushed away from the two and dissapered into the shadows of the trees and bushes around them as he then casted his next spell, after a moment or two from behind Dimitry in the bushes Sol emerged while speaking”Huh I never thought we would meet again” he started before suddenly from the other side of the bushes a carbon copy of Sol emerged and spoke as well.” Oh well its fine with me I’m hungry anyways and Lamias are always tasty” he finished as both of them bared their teeth and gained ravenous looks on their faces. Now it would be tough for Dimity and even Famine to tell the two apart they both looked identical and spoke the same as the other and to make matters worse for the Lamia they were both out of Range of Famines Aura.

    Spell used:
    Name:Poison Dragons Deadly Doppleganger
    Rank: B
    Type:Offensive
    Duration:6 posts(poison infection lasts 5 posts)
    Cooldown: 7 posts
Description: The user will release a mass amount of poison and then it will shape into either a person or a creature that the user has seen or interacted with, the copy will take on the color and features of the thing right down to its voice, while the copy looks like it can fight it cannot take even a D ranks worth of damage. However upon being touched at all the copy bursts into an explosion of Poison inflecting B rank damage and infecting the target with whatever poison used for 5 turns. The explosion is 15 meters in radius and can use one of two poisons one called Death Plague that deals 25 % of B rank damage or 15 points of damage to the targets health over 5 turns or Mana Reaver which saps 5% MP per post for 5 turns. However it can only be one of the two not both.
    Strengths:
Can be used to set deadly traps for enemys
Can fool others if they are not very familiar with the person or creature being copied.
Can cause a distraction on jobs so the user can perform other tasks
    Weaknesses:
If the user is not hidden when forming the copy then there is no way to fool the target.
The copy must be struck to explode or else its just a distraction
If the target is well acquainted with the copied person or pet they can possibly see thru the ploy.
While this can use two very deadly toxins it can only be formed from one or the other not both.

NOTE- Poison being used is ManaReaver which attacks MP as well as dealing damage so its very deadly to Mages!

Wolf Rising [Private, Dmitry/Sol/Famine] Empty Re: Wolf Rising [Private, Dmitry/Sol/Famine]

Post by Benjamin 25th July 2016, 10:31 pm

Just as Dmitry regained his composure from the earlier coughing fit, an ominous presence washed over him and everything else in the area. It was a similar aura to one he had felt when out in the desert helping a friend, the source of which was a dark mage that seemed to hold a measure of command over the forces of death itself. What made things worse was that Vedfolnir seemed to be gone from the area, though it didn't feel like the hawk spirit had been forcefully destroyed. Rather, it felt the same as when the physical body manifested for it ran out of time and faded away. It was around this time that he heard the darkness user speaking up, an obnoxious grin appearing on Dmitry's face as he readied himself to escape the coming purge.

"Aww, did he go cryin' to Momma?" He said in an attempt to bait the dragon out from the brush he had run into. However, when the green-haired, dark mage walked out from the bushes, it seemed he didn't come alone. Was it illusion magic or a full bodied clone? The thought ran through Dmitry's head for a moment before the aura based spell took it's full effect, his escape now cut off all around him. The Lamian instantly dropped to his knees and coughed up even more blood than before, the ground beneath his face appearing much like some sort of abstract painting. However, now wasn't the time to act vulnerable and Dmitry knew this well, placing his palm against the ground and forming an enormous magic circle that drew in a massive amount of his own silver aura. "I invoke the Tree of Life: Yggdrasil!" As the substance coalesced and bound itself together, it gave shape to a tree that stood one-hundred feet in height. Standing up and leaning himself up against the trunk of Yggdrasil, Dmitry placed his hand in front of him and formed another magic circle, almost as large as the last one.

"I invoke the World Serpent: Jormangand!" Upon the call of it's name, an enormous snake that was about as long as the tree was tall came forth from the circle, drawing on both Dmitry's aura and one produced by Yggdrasil. Immediately after it was formed, it circled around the spirit tree and lunged for the one who was emitting this abominable aura around them, teeth bared as it attempted to impale the shadow user and inject her with a large dose of its unique venom.

As this task was carried out by the unreasonably large serpent, Dmitry tucked the blade of his knife under his belt and pointed one of his hands at each of the dragon slayers. More of the silver aura from before gathered in each hand and formed a sphere before they were fired off like cannonballs, with what was hopefully enough force to expose witch annoying green haired mage was the fraud.

If neither of them was hit by the attacks, the mage would simply wait and see what they would do next, considering he didn't have the strength to fight past two of them right now. But If either of them managed to get hit and disappear as a result, Dmitry would follow up by charging at the dark mage that remained. As he did so, he would draw his knife and throw it directly at his opponent's face as a diversion. When he was just within range, the spirit mage would make a motion that appeared to be a reckless punch directed once again at the poison dragon's face. However, before the attack was close enough to be blocked or countered, Dmitry would suddenly fall over and use the hand he was supposedly punching with to lift himself off the ground, his right foot firing off like a piston towards his target's chin.

Whether or not this attack connected or not, he would suddenly vanish from where he was, appearing to the right of Sol and throwing a punch at the same spot in his ribs he had hit before. After this he vanished again, this time appearing to the green slayer's left and swinging a kick aimed at the gut before disappearing once more. Finally, he appeared behind the Basilisk and aiming a left hook at one of the kidneys. If this all worked out, Dmitry would use the opportunity to quickly start quickly moving into the tree line and out of this dark aura. He would then stop after enough distance was made to prevent further worsening of his heath, knowing full well he wasn't out running them in his condition and even if he could, he wasn't about to have these two following him back to hargeon.

Dmitry's best option was to keep the woman occupied with Jormangand and deal with the dragon slayer in the close quarters of the forest.
