"Follow me out, we should take a minute and talk somewhere a little less...comunal.” a cheery expression softly touched  the infamous mage’s features as she murmured the words. She stepped forward, his arm in tow so to lead him off in the direction of the steps she had traversed on her way down whether or not he voiced response to her inquiry.

At the top of the second floor and the end of the long corridor it attached to Famine came to a towering doorway at the end with Ace. It was the same doorway Elijah had lead her into when she’d been branded of the Basilisks mark and where he’d set heat upon her skin and erased the emblem of her previous affiliation, her fingers brushed the burn on the side of her throat and she glimmered back quickly. “You ready then?”

She had circled around him like a predator would their prey, all the while venomous words spilled from her lips. "I apologize." He shrugged, "I normally would try to look a little better for such a lovely woman and guild master. However, my journey was a long one." As if her mention of his appearance had reminded him, he slid a hand through his mess of red hair as if that might tame the wild locks. Even at the mention of his potential death his pace did not quicken though he kept up the worried act. He was confident that he would not die in these hall or out beneath a pile of snow. Ace still had much to accomplish, and much to offer. Her touch upon his skin raised goosebumps, an involuntary human reaction which Ace would not stop. Her expression was cheery, voice soft, and lips even softer against the shell of his ear.

Then the only touch upon his skin was that of her hand dragging him further into the depths of the guild. He had half a mind to retain a lope-sided grin, waving goodbye to those who were in the hall. Despite his cheerful even goofy expression his internal thoughts were anything but. The odd pair traversed the guild, all the while the entirety of the structure all the way down to the hand still grasping at him was memorized and calculated. With so much to take in it was a miracle Ace managed to catch all the details of the interior of the guild, or of the quiet strength of the one leading him. Before them lay a massive set of doors at the end of the long corridor, what lay behind them Ace could only speculate. "Ready?" He echoed, meeting the flicker of her gaze with his own, "It depends on what it is you're leading me to. My death? Then no I am not ready. If you're leading me to something more then perhaps..." His tone was respectful enough, gaze drifting elsewhere as if something else had caught his attention. Truth be told he hadn't anticipated getting this far so quickly and so easily. Wasn't there typically some sort of trial or interrogation needed? Would she subject him to some sort of torture or task to prove his loyalty or worth? Provided that it was anything other than death, Ace would be willing, not because of his devotion to the guilds cause but because he needed the shelter it offered for him to further himself.

Famine’s sapphire irises rolled subconsciously against the whites of her eyes with the formality of his words; the complement to her being. “Swallow your flattery.” A mutter, and a hardly audible one which went ignored as she led him up the corridor.

Famine turned back to the recruit, batting her eyes in her initial reply. Still facing him, she thrust a flat palm ahead of her. The doors nudged open, unveiling the gloomy, window-lit, interior. “I don’t like to kill people in the hall. The blood is bad for the floor.” She stepped into the office styled room, not an execution chamber…(Those were kept downstairs) The guild master quickly rolled into a chair towards the edge of the room, sliding in front of the dust and parchment decorated desk.

“I brought you up here because I want to know what you can bring to this place and most importantly why you came here.” Things only grew more peculiar the moment Ace stepped in after her, the malevolent draft smacking both doors shut behind him to usher him to his own seat.

As she waited for him to find the chair set some feet in front of the table one of the drawers slid open in front of her. a white shape slithering out once she ushered her hand to it and she raised her wrist as the small viper coiled against her pale flesh, craning its neck upward once situated to glower at Ace with their crimson orbs.

The doors opened upon the guild masters command only making Ace's brow furrow in discomfort though still his heart had yet to even skip a beat. He followed after her like a blind man, jumping slightly when the large doors shut behind him. "I can only imagine. I'd hate for my blood to cause such an inconvenience." Living or alive his blood was inconvenience to say the least. Alive his blood coursed through his veins allowing him to verbally quip others as he pleased, and dead his blood was merely a pain to get out of the floor boards. Taking the unspoken command to sit, he lowered himself into one of the cushioned seats marveling the office space for a moments, not a single detail was missed despite only having a single eye to see with.

"What I have to offer?" He echoed back, green orb remaining firm upon the albino snake before it moved up to the female's face. His once amiable expression faltered and fell into a state that would be considered his usual self. Stoic, emotionless, almost devoid of life. It was quite the contrast compared to his previously sociable nature. "I'd say I'm more use to you alive then I am dead." He began, his stone like face turning back to life to give her an almost jolly grin, "After all my blood would be quite the pain to clean up. I'd make sure to spread as much of it around the guild as I can so as to cause the greatest inconvenience." He leaned forward, resting his elbows upon the table and his chin in his hands, "So to avoid that inconvenience I'd think it'd be best to let me join you." Another mirthful smile and he continued, "What I can do and why I am here ties in together. So please do give me a moment to explain, and I ask that you do not interrupt." He stood up from the chair, giving her one last sociable smile before his face had fallen once more into an emotionless void.

"This." He snapped his fingers and a book was produced, settling itself onto the table before Famine. "Do not touch it." He requested, before placing his gloved hands upon the cover of it. "My magic and my everything is right here." The book itself didn't seem to be anything special. It's cover was worn, its title so faded that one could barely make out the words, Magic Compendium on the front, and the authors name was practically unreadable. "A compendium for magic. All magic." He explained before flipping open the book to reveal its contents. Only its pages were blank, the entirety of it empty. "It used to be filled with magic of all sorts but alas its pages were erased. Now I am trying to refill them, and this is where Basilisk Fang comes in." He snapped his fingers and the book disappeared. Shifting a hand through his red locks he began to pace a bit, back and forth in front of the woman. "I can copy any magic. Meaning I can use any magic so long as I have seen it. All magic I see is recorded into that book. Since I can use all magic I would more or less be an Ace up Basilisk Fang's sleeve." What he was offering was a potential for limitless power, an entity that could wield whatever he desired provided that it was something he had seen before. "Now why Basilisk Fang?" His lifeless gaze drifted over to Famine once more.

"Simple. If I am to find and record all magic I need a place to do so. If I choose to join a legal guild it would make dark mages less inclined to mingle with me. If I joined a dark guild? Well, dark mages tend to associate with one another, and we all know just how eager legal mages are when it comes to the prospect of arresting us..." He shrugged, and once more returned to his seat leaning back in it his face returning to an almost aloof state, "So whatdya' say Basilisk Fang Guild Master? Let me join your guild and collect magic? Or kill me and lose a potential Ace up your sleeve?" A sudden thought had struck him, "Or shall I show you an example of what I can do first? I know it can be rather hard to believe. If you show me something simple, nothing too strong, then I'll reproduce it." Another grin, any of his almost lifeless nature having disappeared.

Having folded her legs to sit cross legged in her seat, Famine only creased her arms in front of her chest as she listened in expectation, gaze slowly falling narrow just like the ruby-eyed viper curled upon her shoulder. She leaned back seat leaned back idly, gaze falling to the book which appeared upon her book. So... He could use any magic he compiled within the tome… Famine’s expression turned to grimace, having faced off against a mage with similar abilities once upon a time. He was strong and part of Famine was sure Ace would be too…

A small smirk touched her lips as she stood back up to her feet in front of the desk. “Very well, I will show you something,” She rose a hand, fingertips opening and facing towards the heavens. A black matter, almost like tar, began to swim in the center of her hand. It grew, shaping upwards into a long thin shape. Once the process halted Famine tossed the makeshift short sword in her hand, and she gazed at her own reflection within the shadow-metal. It  certainly was one of her weaker, easier spells but none the less it was special… She’d killed insufficient mages within her guild with this very blade. Intense azure scopes snapped back to Ace as she flicked the sword forward and buried it into the surface of the desk in front of her slightly in a small shower of oak-wood splinters. “Here, simple.” Famine hissed, uncoiling her fingers from the hilt of the blade. “Duplicate it and I give you my name and passage here. If you can’t I bury this in your neck,” She tapped the blade “I can afford that kind of a loss. I mean it's one easy spell”

He raised a single brow in question, single eye never leaving her form. From her waist to the very tips of her fingers he took in everything, especially the shadow dancing around her fingers. The shadow edged upwards slicing through the air into a thin line. "Shadow make." He spoke out loud, green eye widening slightly out of surprise. Considering the nature of his magic, Ace was apt at identifying others magics in only a few seconds. Make mages were particularly easy to identify as Ace had the pleasure of recording countless make magics before losing every page of his book. Still for the woman to be leading the guild with nothing more than shadow make? Either she was quite the adept make mage or she had another magic she wasn't showing him. He almost called her out on it, to give him something a bit more challenging but he bite his tongue. Self-preservation and earning her trust was what mattered right now, he could always pry for more information later.

    "Well,"
The shadow sword in the desk was an ominous reminder to her threat, "You certainly know how to put the pressure on a guy don't ya? I'll try not to disappoint." He scratched the back of his head in another nervous gesture. His hand shifted from his red locks to the air, fingertips stretching out. He hesitated for a moment, contemplating the situation. If he were to fail there would be no second chances. He would be dead and then there would be no one to complete the compendium. For the first time since arriving in the guild, his ever steady heart skipped a beat. "No." He closed his eye, "I will not fail. I have copied every magic I have seen, I will not be bested by something as simple as make magic." Especially considering make magic was so similar to his own. Some would compare him to a memory make mage though few would do so openly as Ace detested such a comparison.

In his outstretched hand a shadow as fluid as water formed. It stretched further into the air, solidifying and allowing Ace to grasp it in his hand. Everything about the blade was perfect, a complete recreation of the one still lodged in the desk. He let his hand, still grasping the blade, fall to his side. "I hope that's good enough for you." He gave her another amiable grin, "Got any other tricks to show me? Or am I in?"

Though she remained silent, Famine seemed visibly amused when Ace vocally identified her magic. She saw the look in his eye, Ace seemed surprised but she doubted that he was shocked re guarding her magic, maker mages were common enough. It almost seemed like he’d been expecting more.

He held his tongue and she bit her own.

The guild master allowed silence to befall them both; her azure hues locked onto his open palm. The two glaring orbs watched the forming black substance closely as it rose up from his skin before slicing through the air into the narrow shape of the black blade. He’d done it, which made her end job a lot easier and a lot cleaner.

“You’re done. There will be more trials later and take my word when I tell you they won’t be nearly as simple as duplicating a one of my simplest D-Class spells.” She said, her wry grin furthering her wicked expression.
