Zombie Poodles [Job] Empty Zombie Poodles [Job]

Post by Fair 3rd January 2016, 9:30 pm

    Job Title: Genetic Chaos
    Rank: B
Player Requirements: Minimum Two C ranks or singular B ranks and above 5 max.
Job Requirements: 300 words minimum per post, minimum 30 posts total. Must defeat at least two of the 3 scientists or defeat the mutated scientist.
    Job Location: Spooky Forest
Job Description: You have been hired by your client who has seen their two prized poodles, Mitzy and Pompom, seemly vanish over night from their kennel, and is worried as they have never done this before. At the same time your client was investigating the strange thinning of the local Vulcan population of the spooky forest and fears that his poodles were just the next step in something much greater. He has tasked you with investigating deep into the spooky forest where he couldn't investigate to find out what is happening and return to him with the information so that he may pass it on to the Rune Knights. You are not required to save his poodles or any vulcans, he senses that it may already be too late to save any of them.

    Additional Note:
Upon finding a lab there will be a thick green fog, the fog is so thick that if you attempt to blow it away with wind it simply fills the gap almost instantly. The fog once breathed in is harmless on the short term but can have serious effects if you remain exposed for longer than a week this shouldn't be possible unless you take a camping trip to fog land for a week, you were only tasked to investigate for the day. When you breath in the fog which you probably will, unless you can hold your breath indefinitely you are required to roll a normal dice, the dice roll will determine a random mutation which may or may not give you bonuses, the mutation will last until the job has been completed and is not permanent.

1 = Genderswap(wha?): sorry pal no bonuses on this one.
2 = Neko (cat ears and tail): you have +25% increased speed, so Kawaii.
3 = Elder (wise old man/woman teach us): +50% damage from all spells +100% damage dealt to yourself from enemies. "Fly you fools!" ~Gandalf
4 = Muscles (really big ones): You have +50% strength, be sure to buy new cloths when you get back.
5 = Chibi (look at how cute you are): You may be small but you can no longer hit very hard with melee attacks or lift heavy objects -50% strength. Good luck being flattened by the Poodles.
6 =Angel (Wings): You have the ability to fly, not that you need it in an enclosed environment.

    Enemies:
Weak: Mutated Vulcan x 3: If you thought that Vulcans couldn't get any dumber then you have just been proven wrong, in exchange for their intelligence these brutes have mutated to become even more muscular... and apparently have grown claws and a speckled with pink pokadots. They will run and cower if you display magic of S rank and are easily taken out by a 3 B rank hits.

Normal: Mitzy and Pompom: These monstrous poodles used to be the prized pets of your client however after these madmen got their hands on them they have turned green with purple stripes and their teeth have grown to 3 feet in length and did I mention they've gotten quite a bit bigger and they can multiply, there's no knowing how many times they have multiplied already. These mutts will never flee and can withstand a beating of 1 A rank hit and if they aren't defeated in 5 posts they will divide into another dog of the exact same strength, and they can hit as hard as a B rank as well.

Strong: Mad Scientist (3 max): These mad scientists have gone crazy mad with their science, though they have managed to hold off the physical mutation but the same can't be said for their brains. Unlike the Vulcans who lost intelligence these brainiacs have gained intelligence using their environment around them to their advantage. Armed with all sorts of volatile chemicals and electric rods they can attack from range for A rank damage and B rank at melee when they have to. They are prone to running away to keep distance so that they don't take damage leaving their backs wide open. They may take a total of 3 A rank damage to defeat.

Boss: Mutated Mad Scientist: This is the original mastermind behind this whole fiasco, he has used his own super serum on himself to give himself the best attributes of all his test subjects. With the strength of the vulcans he can hit you with A rank damage, with the ability to multiply his limbs so he can attack up to 4 people at once, along with the intelligence of a super computer to boot. He has also added his own special syrup to it as well making his skin strong making him immune to D rank damage and making him strong enough to absorb 5 A ranks worth of damage. If you take him out then the whole fiasco is all over and all remaining enemies will flee, now what to do about the gas that fills this place?

    Reward:
15k Jewels and a B ranks worth of experience. +20k Jewels if you defeat Mutated Mad Scientist as well as Mitzy and Pompom's Dog Tags (unique item).
Job may be accepted a second time if Mutated Mad Scientist has not been defeated by any of the participants.

Mitzy and Pompom's Dog Tags: At any time you may roll a normal dice, the roll results in something random based on what you rolled.
1 = you randomly leak 5% magic power.
2 = You feel like you walked into the world of opposites, you are now the opposite gender.
3 = You gain a very expensive magic stone of great power... then it explodes in your hand.
4 = You randomly teleport 10 feet straight up and fall right back down... unless you can fly.
5 = Ultra Chibi Mode, you become cute and adorable and gain 10% additional strength.
    6 = You gain 10% Magic power.

Persistent effects only last 3 post.

    LYNN

    Anima Libera
The Spooky Forest, once again. Lynn had been here one too many times. It appears she might have made some kind of bond with the place. Cotton candy sky overhead, the dynamic redhead hopped over a few obstacles that were strewn about in front of her as she walked through a layer of trees and into the section where the forest was most ‘spooky’. Zlatan flew above the landform, watching out for any threats that might prevail nearby or within. The objective of the job she had taken up was to investigate the happenings in the forbidden depths of the Spooky Forest. Lynn was not sure, at first, if she wanted to delve further into the forest. Not because she was scared, no. Lynn did not fear of such things. She knew of what happened here, and if she what she had involved herself was part of a chain of further investigations, it was going to be troublesome. Twenty meters ahead, big ditch. Zlatan was limited to basic vocabulary, sometimes making his telepathic messages sound like jokes, and sometimes making it very difficult for the summoner to interpret. She would have to teach him more later when she had time and wasn’t running jobs. “Alright,” Lynn responded orally, making sure that after moving twenty meters further, she would have to take a turn either to the left or to the right. “Where to then?Left. The redhead nodded, and followed Zlatan’s instructions. He was getting better and better at directions, getting Lynn to the right place at the right time, becoming more like Lynn’s personal navigator than a battle assistant.

The forest was lit by light rays that seeped through the thickness of the trees. Scarlet tresses bounced about her shoulders as Lynn hopped over fallen branches and other obstacles. She had no one to talk to, so she began to talk to Zlatan, her only companion in this job.  “Are you bored?” she wanted to know, stopping at an intersection of sorts. The path that she took crossed another. “Aaand, what now?” Assistance from the winged lion was almost becoming a huge necessity in a lot of Lynn’s jobs. No, mistress. I am far from bored. I have no time to be in such a state and you will have to continue straight along the path you have taken, no turns. Basic vocabulary. Maybe Zlatan heard her thoughts and tried to get on a certain level of English proficiency. Lynn almost laughed. “Very well,” she smiled, continuing straight along the path like Zlatan had told her to. If anyone had decided to attack her secretly, now was the perfect time as she was lost in thought. The path didn’t end, making her think about the most irrelevant things, like what she was going to drink next Friday at the bar in Hosenka when she visited. Perhaps it was one of the spooky effects of the forest. Shaking her head a bit roughly so her crimson locks flew around before falling back in place behind her, Lynn commanded herself to focus mentally. Yes, mistress. I am focusing. She burst out into a fit of hysterics. “Not you, Zlatan! I was talking to myself,” she said out loud, laughing a bit more before she found it less funny. There was something in the distance?

A laboratory, it seemed. At first, Lynn thought it was a residence, but after observing from the same distance she stopped walking at, she realised it was no ordinary building. The structure was identical to something she had seen before and it was a laboratory. She couldn’t be mistaken. “Zlatan, I’ve found something about thirty meters ahead of my current position. A lab, I assume. Safe to enter?” Lynn waited for his his response, which she received after a solid minute. Zlatan was probably checking it out. Negative. There is a poisonous gas around the structure. It must have been there to keep out something. I cannot assure you if the occupants are of a dangerous nature or not. You are standing exactly one centimeter from the reach of the gas. Lynn jumped back warily. Thank goodness. “So what are the effects of the gas?” she asked, hoping Zlatan had an answer. I do not know yet, mistress. “Great,” she muttered, more to herself than to the lion. I am sorry. “It’s not your fault!” she told him. “I’m going in. Keep watch and report back if you find anything fishy. I’m going to try and hold my breath as long as I can.” Apparently, Lynn was pretty skilled in holding her breath. During swimming lessons back when she was very young, she was always the one to stay underwater for the longest time. Now all that was going to come in handy.

One centimeter. That was how close she was to the fog, as Zlatan has said. Sure enough, after taking a close look at the air in front of her, she noticed the slight difference in color. It was translucent, and hard to detect but with enough optical focus, she could see it. “Here goes,” she said, inhaling and exhaling before she took a deep breath a bit more slowly and held it, running as fast as she could into the fog, towards the lab. About thirty seconds later, she had reached the door, but she couldn’t hold her breath anymore. Grabbing the handle of the door, she struggled to pull it open. It wouldn’t budge and thus, she had to release her breath, taking in a lungful of the greenish gas. Mistress! You’re in danger! The gas seems to have an effect that does something to your body. “No shit,” Lynn said, noticing the change in her body. Not more than a minute later, something very strange yet funny happened to her. Lynn raised a very pointed eyebrow, looking down at her own form. “Well Zlatan, this looks like some fun,” she murmured, feeling herself. Please refrain from taking any more risks such as this, mistress, the lion warned.

    LYNN

    Anima Libera
What has happened to me!?” she squealed, feeling the furry ears that sprouted from her head. You are an adorable feline now, mistress. “Oh my god, a tail!” she screamed, noticing the thing that was almost moving on its own behind her. She wished this was it. Lynn was not ready to undergo a complete transformation into a cat. How was she going to fit in with the rest of her guild if she became an animal!? “Please tell me this is, please,” she pleaded to whoever was listening. It stopped. Your body stopped changing. Great news! Releasing a sigh of relief, Lynn slammed her body against the door that opened with the force of her slam breaking any locks that kept it closed. Apparently, Lynn’s body felt a lot lighter. She felt like she could move faster! “I’m actually starting to like this,” she grinned, looking around as she entered the laboratory. White walls dirtied with dirty greenish substances Lynn could not identify. They were truly disgusting, however. She shut the door behind her, footfalls resonating through the interior of the building as she took a few steps forward, making sure to check everything and anything within the section of the lab that she was in. One thing for sure is that something fishy definitely happened here. Everything was out of place, and not only were the walls tainted, but so were the ceilings. She wasn’t sure if it was an attack by some alien creature or a giant flying, disgusting bug...or zombified poodles.

Grabbing a syringe that she found close to her, she gathered more objects she could find to use as weapons. The syringe had nothing in it, so she was going to use the needle which was pretty thick for injecting into any creature’s body. What she found next were scissors, a taser (which was a strange finding, especially in a lab), and a knife. The knife was pretty small, as it was lab instrument, but it was doable. As soon as Lynn thought she was ready, she realised she wasn’t. She didn’t know what was inside, nor could Zlatan find out since he couldn’t look through opaque objects. He could only guess with his intelligence. “Zlatan? Anything?” Lynn wanted to know, speaking not too loudly in case there were creatures on the other side of the door in front of her that would lead her deeper into the lab. She was only in the first room, the one that she had entered when she slammed into the door and got in. Nothing. I don’t hear anything. “Seriously, nothing at all? Listen harder,” she told him, doing so herself. After a few seconds, she picked up a growl, specifically the growl of a dog. Emerald optics widening in shock and realisation at the same time, Lynn immediately informed her guardian. “Zlatan I’m going deeper. I heard the poodles,” she said quickly as she didn’t want to waste much time talking. They poodles could get away.

Judging from the sound of their growl, Lynn could tell they were no longer ordinary poodles with fluffy white fur, and there was no bringing them back anymore. That, she knew already when her client had told her about it. She would have to either finish them off or use them to find out further about this entire situation. “Keep watch. I’m sensing danger,” Lynn informed Zlatan who responded by saying that he was ready to attack as well if anything happened to her, or if she couldn’t handle the enemies by herself. Lynn stepped forward, holding the doorknob with her right hand, the taser ready in her left. She swiftly turned the doorknob and swung the door wide open, stepping back behind the wall next to it. Two oddly colored animals emerged through the opening. The poodles! They had transformed into such monsters. Green with purple stripes. Immediately, Lynn connected the activated taser to both the poodles, making them fall limp on the ground. Great, one thing her way stopped. Actually, two things. As they fell unconscious, Lynn studied their appearance. Indeed they were hideous, the colors not matching at all and more importantly, their adorable poodle-ness had completely disappeared from their being. She doubted her client wanted these beasts back. Then again, she didn’t even mention about getting them back, so Lynn didn’t think further. She turned towards the door that would lead further into the lab and walked through, shutting it behind her. The dogs would awaken soon, but she was going to find the root of this sooner.

Zlatan get lower. You can’t hear anything from that height,” Lynn told him, realising how she was the first one to hear the growling noises. The room that she had just entered was dark, except for the light that entered from small holes in the ceiling. She could still see, but not everything. She mentally commanded Zlatan to be ready for battle. This might be where the rest of the zombified creatures would ambush her, if they were to do that in the first place. Lynn noted how this room smelled worse than the previous. Maybe this was where the experiments were carried out. But something still felt wrong about that thought. Yes. It was too small for experiments such as what she had in mind to be carried out. Those poodles would have needed a larger room to be handled to get to such sizes. Lynn looked above, noticing the broken light bulb overhead. The sun had only risen about an hour ago, meaning she wasn’t going to be shrouded in darkness anytime soon if the lab ceiling had holes in them. Lynn decided to produce a sound to let whatever was inside know she was there. She had been standing still for about a solid minute. “I’m here,” she said, her voice bouncing back off the walls of the room, making echoes. Was it that empty? She could see some broken tables, chairs and a cabinet.

Apparently no one was polite enough to acknowledge her presence, or even reply, maybe make a noise to let her know they were there too. “Tch, fucking rude,” Lynn murmured, jumping onto the table closest to her and using that to jump further up, punching the ceiling so i broke open and holding onto the side of the hole that she had formed in the very thin, fragile ceiling. It was thin enough to have been damaged and made holes out of, so Lynn could easily punch a hole in it, the size of her head and then hold on, only for the sides to slowly break and fall, making the hole bigger. Lynn fell feet first into the pile of ceiling rubble, the sudden burst of light through the hole almost blinding her. She could see everything inside the room now, and, to her dismay, no one was there. “Zlatan anything? Nothing here so I’m moving forward. Just picking up some things I might need,” she informed the guardian. Nothing from here as well. I’ve descended a bit closer to land. You are safe to move further although I cannot guarantee your safety in the next room. Lynn nodded, bending down to pick up a piece with sharp ends from the pile, attaching it to the belt on her leather pants. This was definitely going to come in handy. “Alright then. Keep a close watch,” Lynn said, standing up straight and looking for anything else that she could use. The light was now shining brightly, giving Lynn a clear view of everything within the room. She picked up something else before she moved on - a chair leg.

What the hell?” she muttered mostly to herself, noticing the state of the room she entered next. It was in perfect condition, as though she just walked into a room inside a newly constructed laboratory. Everything was perfectly in place, tables, chairs, cabinets filled with instruments, sterilizers and other laboratory necessities. Lynn almost dropped what she was holding when she heard a sort of cackle on the other side of the door at the other end of the room. Her eyelids drooped on her eyes to display how irritated she was. “How many rooms do I have to go through to get to the shit?!” she hissed, stomping across the room, but stopping as she heard a male voice, speaking as though he was possessed, in the other room. She halted in her tracks, listening to what he was saying. It was very odd. He was switching from one subject to the other, making her lose the subject. What exactly was he talking about? She didn’t know.

Yes..yes...this will do. One drop...no no, the whole tube! Aha! Ahaha! So much fun! Go go go go.

Zlatan are you receiving this? Seems like a mad scientist in the other room. He’s probably one of our enemies. I’m taking him right now,” Lynn told her guardian, before grabbing the doorknob and turning it, finding it unlock, surprisingly. She immediately held up the chair leg that she had brought with her, aiming at the entity across the room. It raised its head, finding the source of the sounds that had just broken the silence, Lynn’s entrance. “Who are you?” the summoner questioned, keeping a close eye on the creature. Another zombified being. It had seen more human days, through normal human eyes, she guessed. But now, it was as ugly looking as the poodles she had met in the second room very recently. A pair of limbs grew under its previously existent ones, triggering a puking sensation in Lynn’s stomach. It squinted its eyes behind the pair of broken spectacles that still sat on the bridge of his nose.

Intruder. Did you meet my two doggies? Mitzy and Pompom?” it inquired with an evil smirk. The zombie probably thought Lynn was the owner of the poodles, seeing how he looked so satisfied with them being zombified. Apparently, after a while Lynn realised they weren’t zombified, but vulcanized. She noticed the syringes lying on a syringe holder on the metal table behind the vulcanized being in front of her. She remembered vulcans had green bodies with purple stripes, or the other way around, she wasn’t exactly sure about the colors. But they were definitely vulcanized, and not zombified. “You don’t seem too happy about the colors of my skin, kek kek kek,” it continued, observing that Lynn was looking at the colors on his skin.

You’re right, they make you look ugly as hell. You look hideous,” Lynn told him, scrunching up her nose to emphasize her statement. “I guess I can get rid of that for you.” And with that, Lynn jumped towards the mad creature, aiming and hitting him with the chair leg, but miserably failed. Instead of hitting its head, Lynn hit the wall, making a large hole in it and causing dust to fill the air around her and making her cough from the intake of dust contaminated air.

Weakling. To think that you could fight me!” it laughed, growing another pair of limbs before picking up a table and throwing it in Lynn’s way. The redhead was a second earlier, successfully rolling out of harm’s way, scarlet locks missing the table by just a millimeter at most. It was all thanks to the green fog, really. If it wasn’t for the lightness that she felt because of her new form, she wouldn’t have been able to get out of the way. “Ha! You should try harder! This is only the beginning!” the creature announced, getting more excited, its movements more erratic and dynamic. “You think you can kill be but you can’t! You can’t! I will kill you first! What the hell was this creep yelling for? Lynn stood still, letting it attack first. She knew better than to do it first herself. If she kept dodging him and getting out of his way, he might slowly kill himself by falling into or body slamming into things in the room.

Come and get me, ugly!” Lynn challenged, making the mad creature roar with anger and charge towards her, with nothing in its hands. It seemed it was going to grab Lynn first before doing whatever he planned to do, so he moved out of the way swiftly, letting him fall onto one of the tables in the room and break it. Grunting, it slowly stood up, dusting himself. “Thought you would be stronger, calling me weak and all,” Lynn smirked, surely angering him even more. She could not stop herself, since the freak was being all cocky, calling her weak and whatnot. If this kept up, she wouldn’t even be able to count the number of insults it hurled at her through its dried up lips in the echoey voice it had that could give children nightmares and make them pee their pants. “What’s the matter? Are you mad at me now?” she said, looking warily now that it was standing up straight and glaring at her with both its eyes narrowed, unlike the last time when only its left eye was narrowed, making it look all the more insane. “Ew, stop looking at me like that,” she said, jumping backwards so she wouldn’t be struck so easily and if it had some tricks she wasn’t aware of, hopefully the distance would be a disadvantage to it. It began to growl, much like the dogs before, but less dog-like and more like a human. A human! She was sure it must have been a human at some point before turning into the zombie he was now, maybe recently, because it still had the lab coat on and some humanly features.

Ugh, don’t call me that, you little piece of garbage!” he screamed, jumping towards her with its limbs spread out like it was going to grab her and hold on to her. Lynn jumped to the side, getting out of its way by a close shave. It was fast, no doubt. And maybe it was getting even faster! She did not know the effects of the serum that was in the syringes but they seemed to be giving him the abilities of the vulcans. It looked horrible externally, but internally she couldn’t figure out what was going on. She did have her little cat effect from the fog outside that made her faster than her usual self so she had evasion to her advantage. “Who do you think you are!? Barging into my lab like that! Do you think you own this place!? Huh!? You...YOU!” it screamed on the top of its lungs, turning to face where Lynn hopped off to, giving her a deadly glare. It was like the hundredth time it glared at her. She stuck out her tongue, displaying the Sabertooth guild insignia as well, though she only meant to tease the mutated being. It wouldn’t know anyway, what the symbol meant. “Ew, your tongue is dirty,” it commented, making Lynn burst out laughing. A tear fell from the corner of her right eye. Too much laughing. She couldn’t control herself. It actually thought the guild tattoo was something dirtying her tongue!

You know I could have mistaken you for a comedian. You’re funny as hell,” she laughed, holding her stomach, yet completely aware that the scientist might strike any time soon again and alert to react to whatever it was going to do. But for now, she felt like making fun of it a bit more before trying to kill it. She knew what she had to do, but taunting it seemed to make her day less boring. It was definitely a joke. The way it talked, the way it looked, basically everything about it was hilarious and she wasn’t going to let that trait go to waste. “Entertain me more before I finish you off with my own hands!” she exclaimed him, gesturing for him to come towards her, like a challenge but a bit shaky because she was still laughing like there was no tomorrow. “Come on, big guy! You think I’m weak don’t you!? Come and show me what you got!” she demanded, noticing the confused expression on the mutated man’s face. It was genuinely confused, either because of what she said or it lacked vocabulary, not knowing what ‘entertain’ meant. Lynn rolled her eyes, picking up a piece of wood that laid near her feet, and throwing it towards the creature, but she was a second too late. As she threw it, the mad creature had already leapt, limbs spread as before. It seemed to know only one way to attack and that was jumping onto the enemy with its limbs wide open. The creep fell right onto Lynn, the piece of wood being swatted away by one of its limbs.

I’ve got you now, weakling,” it breathed onto her face. Lynn gave it a lethal look, kicking its chest area so that it got off her, but she was too weak for his vulcan strength. “You can’t do that,” it produced a noise that sounded like someone was scraping sandpaper against a rough surface. Maybe it was trying to laugh. Lynn grunted, attempting to struggle out of its hold, but not happening. “Ha ha ha! You are trash! Vulnerable like a rabbit! You will die by my hands, not the other way around! Ha ha ha ha!” Lynn gritted her teeth, she didn’t respond with words of hostility, but instead formed a plan on how to get him off her. “What are you going to do n--Swak! A sharp object cut deep into its side as it produced a pained sound, letting go of Lynn’s arms that he held onto quite firmly, leaving red finger marks on her pure white skin. Grunting, Lynn pushed the human vulcan thing off her, leaping out of the way and landing on all fours on a clearing among all the destruction. The cat in her was acting. She didn’t like it too much but she had to bear with it for this job.

Ugh, I don’t know if you’re getting stronger by the minute or you’re just getting smarter and calculating time faster,” Lynn said, getting up and jerking her head to one side, producing a loud cracking noise. If she kept teasing him for long, she might end up being the one dead since he had some kind of power boosting now. His strength had definitely increased and it wasn’t cool at all. Lynn had to do something fast...really fast. She glanced over at the tables in the corner, checking if there were any instruments lying around, but couldn’t find any. She knew she had some on her, like the taser and whatnot. Maybe she would have to make use of the ones she already had instead of finding more. Bringing out the taser, she challenged the creature, beckoning it forward with her hand. Either it would tick it off or make it super excited...to kill Lynn. “Come and get me. I know you’re dying to,” she said, retrieving her hand to her side and preparing for the fight. She had a sharp material with her. She was going to make use of it pretty soon. “You’re going to get hurt real bad, mister,” she taunted, lips curling up into a very mocking smirk. And that alone seemed to have touched a raw nerve on the mutated creature, for he leapt with full force, like before, straight for Lynn. Evading perfectly to the side, she held out the taser after activating it and connecting it to the creature’s purplish greenish skin.

ARRGGHHH!” it yelled before falling to the ground face first, making a grunt-like noise as it shook in one place. “Gg-g y-you aa-- I’m gonna!!!” it yelled more, making less sense the more it tried to talk. Lynn laughed, electrocuting it once more before deactivating the taser and bringing out the sharp object. It was time to finish the creature. It seemed to have little knowledge about anything that she was investigating about. Maybe it did know a few things but then it was in no position to be interviewed. Instead, it looked like it wanted to tear Lynn into half and eat her for lunch the next day. It did keep trying to communicate with her in its electrocuted shaky language that Lynn couldn’t interpret. She rolled her eyes, raising the sharp object. The creature looked up with pleading eyes, shifting from the sharp object to her face, begging for life she could see. That, she could interpret. Of all her experiences with vulcans, this was a first. No vulcan ever begged for life. But this was mostly because it wasn’t completely a vulcan, but a mutated thing with vulcan transforming serum in its bloodstream. Lynn didn’t want to look like the bad guy here, so she pressed her lips into a thin line as she thought. Will it be worth it? Will freeing this monster be worth it? Will I regret this later at some point?

No,” Lynn said, letting her hands act on their own as the sharp object plunged deep into the creature’s back, straight in the middle of the backbone. She twisted the object, making sure that the backbone was broken. The creature made all sounds of noise that showed agony. Wails, cries, screams, squeals, every sound you name it. “I’m sorry, doctor,” she told the dead form, removing the weapon from the body of the mutated being, standing up. She knew it was a doctor. It had a lab coat on, though it was almost tattered to cloth pieces. She knew the creature was dead because it stopped shaking. For how long it was shaking after being electrocuted, Lynn didn’t remember. He stopped for sure though. Lynn sighed, dropping the sharp object beside the doctor’s dead body. If it weren’t for the vulcan face, she would have brought the doctor to one of the hospitals to cure this thing that he had done to himself, even though he may be the only one who knew how to get rid of it. “Ugh,” she grunted, her lips forming into a way that described disgust. “I can’t believe I had to do that,” she said, not really meaning it. She was fine with killing people who were evil and went against the law...or harmed Sabertooth. “Well, I guess that’s all I can find here,” she said, dusting herself on any place she came in contact with the ground. She fixed her breastplate and walked around the room to find anything that she could.

I guess there’s nothing here,” she muttered to herself, pouting a bit. Tired from the fighting, more from the teasing than actually fighting, Lynn combed her hair with her fingers, making sure it was in place before walking over to the one and only window in the room and looking out to check what was going on outside. Nothing. The green fog was almost invisible to her eyes, but after concentrating for a full minute, she could see it. She wondered if she was going to grow another pair of ears and another tail as well once she escaped the building and walked through the fog once again. She would have to climb up the roof and find another way to get away from the fog. Maybe she could rely on her feline traits to jump far or something like that. Cats did jump pretty far and high. Lynn heaved a sigh, turning back to face the door that led her into this room. She would have to go around searching for more things that could be helpful for her investigation first before even thinking about leaving. More importantly, she wasn’t sure if there might be other creatures in hiding in the lab that might jump her once they found her. Surely the scientist and the dogs couldn’t be the only ones that were vulcanised and inside the laboratory. The summoner walked straight to the door, not thinking about finding more in that room, now that the corpse of the scientist was starting to smell too.

Now that that is over with…” Lynn said, dusting her hands on her pants and wandering about the building. She obviously was not going to find anything more useful than the corpse of the stupid scientist creature, but she still looked around, hoping to find something, just something. “So Zlatan, tell me something, boy. Anything. I’m getting bored. I don’t think I’m finding anything more useful than the dead body in the next room,” she said, heaving a sigh and putting her hands on her hips. It was useless. I don’t have new information, but I could sing you a song if you so wish to hear something from me, replied the silly lion. Lynn threw her head back and laughed out loud. It was not everyday you hear something hilarious that Zlatan said himself. “Oh my god, I think I’m crying from laughing too much,” she continued laughing, holding her stomach in an attempt to control her laughter, and failing miserably. Zlatan did not know how to laugh, and so remained silent. Or maybe he did, but he never showed it. Lynn had actually never heard the lion laugh. I’m sorry I made you cry, mistress. I really am. The redhead stopped, panting like an exhausted dog, which was half true. “It’s not like I’m crying because I’m sad! They’re like happy tears you know. Positive stuff,” she told the lion so he would not feel sorry for something he did not do. “Well, now that we’re done here, let’s move out,” she said, straightening up and patting dust (that didn’t really exist) on her outfit and making sure her hair was in place. Zlatan nodded, letting his mistress know that he was fine with her decision, like always.

Lynn decided to exit the structure on the same path she came in along, so as to make sure she did not miss a thing that she might have on her way in. She remembered she left the zombie poodles in the first...or was it the second room? Anyway, she was going to find out sooner or later. Hopefully the bodies would not smell, because dead bodies rot and they begin to smell, right? Or maybe the effects of the scientists experiments would do things much worse than make them rot and smell. Whatever the case was, Lynn would find out pretty fucking soon and the thought of having to go through the disgusting situation that she had in mind was horrible. Not that she was scared or anything. It was just that she would have hoped that this request was cleaner and less...messier? If only...anything to do with zombie vulcan whatevers were clean. She rolled her eyes at the irony, pushing away a table in her way as she strode over a few things sprawled out on the floor, reaching her hand for the doorknob before turning it...and being shocked almost to death. The two zombie poodles that she thought she had finished off stood erect in front of the door that she was about to walk through. Lynn took a few steps back warily. She needed more than that to kill them. Honestly, she did not want to kill them. She thought that if she kept them alive, just in a weakened state, then she would not have to deal with them. But apparently, she was wrong. They were not in a weakened state nor were they any less angry compared to when she first walked in and met with them.

Oh, hello there, little creeps. I thought y’all were dead. Guess not,” Lynn shrugged, bringing out the taser that she had kept on her for situations like this. “Since it didn’t work the first time, I’ma have to try a different way. Hopefully, this time it will work.” With a smirk, Lynn challenged them by curling her index towards herself, beckoning them forward. The deformed poodles barked in a strange way, like someone was scraping something sharp over metal. It was like no ordinary bark. The two animals kept on producing said strange sound in unison, not falling back one bit. They looked pretty fierce, if Lynn was not there, they might even be the fiercest ones in the room. The crimson haired sorceress felt the corner of her lip curl up into a smirk. Fierce, she liked the word. The word that people used to describe her nature. They were not wrong. She was pretty fierce as a mage and human as well. Fierce and fearless. She scoffed, just before dodging an aggressive bite attempt from one of the poodles. “Woah!” she exclaimed, landing on all fours and looking up into the face of a very mad dog that growled and scowled down at her.

Lynn immediately jumped backwards, gaining balance and getting a good look at the positions of the two animals. They both looked ready to kill but only one had stepped forward, the one with the growl and the stare, the one that jumped at her. Jerking her head to one side, producing a loud cracking noise as though she just broke her neck. “Zlatan keep watch. I’m gonna show you how to teach these bad boys a lesson,” Lynn told her pet, bringing out the same taser she used on them last time. She did not plan on doing anything fancy in killing them. All she needed was to end their lives. “COME AT ME,” she yelled, aiming the taser forward as the dog charged straight, as expected. Lynn retracted her outstretched arm, sidestepped, rolled and then turned back so she faced the animal. One she was facing its back, she connected the taser’s tip while activated to the dog’s skin. She made sure to stay alert while doing so as there was a very live, very angry poodle behind her as well. The one she just tased bent backwards, producing a strange noise from its throat and hitting against the wall in front of it with a loud thud.

One down!” Lynn announced with a large grin plastered to her face, immediately turning towards her other opponent. “Take your time,” she told the creature, her face lighting up like a Christmas tree. She was kind of hyped for this point in the job for she knew it was most likely the last part of it. There were no other vulcanized creatures in the entire laboratory, other than the poodles of course, the filthy dogs she was facing, and hopefully the last she was meant to face. She thought she had finished them off already but apparently not. They were harder than she thought. She might have underestimated them. After a moment of growling and glaring at her, the remaining poodle jumped at her, mouth wide open and aimed at her throat, she could tell. Lynn sidestepped the angry mutt, moving out of its way as it dived into the dying poodle’s belly, teeth first. “Ouch,” Lynn said, wincing a bit at the bloody sight. Shaking her head slightly as if she was sad about the dogs dying, she sighed. Lynn was genuinely sad about the fact that she had finished them already when she expected them to put up a harder fight this time. This was the end of the job. She wanted to thank the poodles for making things so easy, if they could understand human language and they were not brainless. The bloody scene made her want to puke a bit, though. Struggling to detach its teeth from the vulcan poodle corpse, the live mutt growled. Lynn sighed, grabbing a piece spiked driftwood and piercing it through the remaining poodle’s body, immediately ending its worthless life.

Dusting her hands off her pants, the dynamic Saber dropped all the weaponry she had collected through the job onto the floor, eyes never leaving the zombie dogs as she had seen them come back to her after she once thought she had defeated them already. “Looks like I’ve put you two to eternal sleep,” she chuckled, amused by the way the two were stacked on top of one another. It was cute, in fact. It looked like they were actually sleeping together, placing each other’s limbs on top of the other. A heartbreaking scene for the poor owner. She must have cried, Lynn thought. If she was the owner though, tears would never fall for such a happening. She was that emotionally strong. It wasn’t like she had feelings or didn’t know how to love and care for another. It was more like she had developed some kind of restriction from feeling too much, or more than necessary. Without further ado, Lynn cleaned herself up and exited the building. She didn't look too beat up, so Zlatan wasn’t going to make a big fuss about not calling him to her aid. “I’m done, Zlatan. Let’s go back to that science lady.” Science lady. She threw her head back and laughed at the way she called the woman. Honest to god, she had no idea what the woman was exactly. She knew she had a title...she just could not remember it. Completely forgot.

Zlatan hopped once, delighted by the sight of her mistress’ return, grunting with a tiny bit of disappointment for not calling him. “Boy, it was too easy. I didn’t even need you close. If it wasn’t, you know I would have called!” she assured him, petting him continuously on the forehead which made him blink every time. Lynn laughed. It was cute to watch. “You know I was thinking of getting you once, but it was disgusting inside. Didn’t want that beautiful fur of yours tainted with zombie blood, ew,” she told him, hopping onto his back. They were supposed to fly about half an hour back to where the client resided. The entire thing with this mission was that the client was unable to investigate the forest herself, which led to requesting mages who could investigate the forest, given their abilities to remove obstacles and brave through stuff like the green fog that turned you into strange things. Plus apparently the client owned the two poodles that Lynn just executed. She did tell her that she didn’t expect the dogs to be brought back to her as she understood the depth of the situation and that her dogs were probably half vulcans by the time she got help from mages anyway. Most importantly, Lynn should have perfect memory so she can carry the information she had gathered back to the client so she could report to the Fiore police, a.k.a the Rune Knights who would take the mission from there.

Do you still want to sing me that song, Zlatan?” Lynn asked, laughing after she did as she noticed how hilarious it must be, Zlatan singing. She could feel that he was embarrassed through their mental link. “Awh, don’t be shy. I don’t mind if your voice is awful. I’ll bear and listen to it.” She was only teasing him and he knew, which was why he did not say anything back to her. Boredom struck in the thirteenth minute of their journey back to where the client lady was. “Honestly this is getting really boring,” she told her companion, while attempting lay on her back on Zlatan’s back. She crossed her legs, once she was securely laying on her back, humming a tune she remembered from long ago. Is that your song, mistress? the winged lion wanted to know, perking his head up from watching the road. Lynn scoffed. “No it’s not my song. It’s the song of the heavens.” Honestly she had no idea where the words had come from. It wasn’t her brain forming the sentence that she had just spoken. Something had made her say those words and she had no clue what. That’s interesting, said the beast she was riding. “Yes...very.

You do know that we’re going the wrong way, right?” Lynn groaned, yawning a bit. She had fallen asleep on the back of her winged lion pet. Apparently, he had been flying the opposite direction of where they were actually supposed to be headed. Zlatan stopped immediately in the middle of the sky. Lynn took a glance below and was certain that they had been flying the wrong way for sure. “Yep, we have been flying to exact opposite of where we should be flying,” she stated, sitting up straight as she combed her hair with her fingers. Zlatan grunted, looking totally sorry for doing what he had done. “No it’s not your fault, boy. I should not have fallen asleep. I should have been fully awake and alert, giving you directions. Who could remember a journey they only went on once by memory? Other than me of course.” Patting at her lower wear as though cloud fragments might have stuck to them as they flew, the Sabertooth mage shielded her eyes with her right hand, looking into the distance, then down below. They were above a grassy field, a small river or canal dividing the plain into two, one with more vegetation than the other. It was a completely unfamiliar location. They were lost, no doubt. But she remembered that if they followed the direction of the setting sun, they were going to opposite direction. So, she ordered Zlatan to turn around, which the lion did, then told him to go straight. They were supposed to go east, until there was this other remarkable feature which they should spot once they are about twenty five kilometers from their client’s laboratory.

Alright Zlatan, this is the right way and I am guessing you know what to do now. I won’t fall asleep again, don’t worry about that,” Lynn said, laughing. She knew she had some food attached to Zlatan. She did it in the morning before she came for this job. It was supposed to be good until now. So hopefully, the food in the bag were still edible. Lynn immediately rolled over closer to Zlatan’s tail and grabbed the bag, untying it from where it was attached. “I’m hungry, are you?” The reply from the winged lion was a grunt, a negative. “Alright then. I’ll have this for myself. You won’t like it either. There’s no meat in here,” Lynn said, peering into and fishing out a wad of bread from the bag and chewing it off. It was still good to eat, delicious even, maybe because she was super hungry. “You sure you don’t want some? It tastes like heaven on Earth,” she asked through a mouthful of yummy bread. Another grunt. “Alright.” So Lynn began eating away like a caveman. She actually finished the entire bread all by herself. Zlatan looked very pleased by the fact that his mistress has a satisfied stomach and full of energy again. “Well, now that that’s done with,” Lynn said, grabbing her water bottle and draining half of it, “let’s get on with our journey.

It took about an hour and maybe thirty plus minutes to reach the mark. It was a statue of a bird - a hawk - made out of stone, in totally perfect condition, not a scratch on the statue. Well, that’s what they told her about it. She could not exactly see if there were scratches or anything on the statue. What was more important for them at the time was that they have found an indicator that they were close to where they were heading! Lynn almost jumped when she noticed the statue. In all honesty, she thought they were still going in the wrong direction as she wasn’t a big fan of directions and she could barely tell whether west was on the left or on the right of the compass, or if east was the direction from which the sun rises or sets. “Finally! We’ve reached the stone bird!” she exclaimed, forgetting what the mark was called. “Keep going straight in the direction that we’re going and we’ll be there after traveling a distance of twenty five kilometers.” Zlatan flapped his wings a bit harder, making his flying a bit quicker. “We’ll be there in no time, hopefully!” she said, eyes sparkling. She couldn’t wait to get to the client and tell her all about it. Then only the case could be handed over to the Rune Knights. And she could finally get her reward for the hard work. She didn’t even use her magic or borrow Zlatan’s abilities. So...actually it wasn’t that hard of a job.

We’re here!” Lynn squealed in excitement. “Right?” she asked Zlatan to make sure. The beast growled in agreement, making her squeal even more. After all those messy things she had to do, they were all coming to fruitful results! Zlatan headed for the laboratory, landing slowly as he liked to keep her mistress in suspense. “Oh stop it, you. Get down fast!” Lynn demanded, slapping Zlatan playfully. Once they landed, she hopped off. “Now stay here and wait for my return. I won’t take long.” The winged lion obeyed, curling up on a lawn outside the laboratory as he watched Lynn enter the large establishment. As soon as she entered, the conditioned air hit her face like a sheet of glass, chilling her for a moment before her body got accustomed to it. She asked directions for where her client was, giving the name of the scientist to whoever she asked. They directed her to a rather large office. It was larger than most other offices in the laboratory, which made Lynn kind of have a clue of what her client might be. She headed straight for the office, not giving a damn about the stares she received from the other laboratorists, scientists or whatever they were called. As soon as she reached the office, she pushed open the glass door, entering it and taking a seat without even asking if she was allowed to. “Hello, I took on your request,” she told the lady on the other side of the desk, retrieving the piece of paper from her shirt pocket and placing it on the clean, shiny desk.

Oh, you’re not the one who made this request?” Lynn asked, confused as the lady shook her head nervously. The main reason that everyone was staring at her, she later realized, was because of the stupid cat ears and tail she got while doing the job. “Alright then take me to whoever did,” she demanded, a bit mad at how the ears and tail were still there. Hopefully they would be gone by the time this mission was over or else she was going to be made fun of when she returned to the guildhall, where she would have to walk up to the transportation lacrima - which was like a spotlight place where people saw you very visibly. So, if it - the effect - wasn’t going to be gone by the time she left this laboratory, she was going to have to consult someone about it and get rid of it one way or another. The lady went into a back room sort of compartment and left the door open so Lynn could get a hint of what he looked like...which she didn’t. because he was sitting with his back given to the lady and Lynn. The Sabertooth mage tapped her fingers on the glass table, trying to look patient although she was nothing close to patient. In fact, she wanted very much to barge into that room and demand her reward. The reason she was so pissed at the time was because of the stupid gas effect she had.

The girl came out of the office, saying, “You’re invited, miss.

Invited? Is this some kind of a party?” Lynn asked, her tone harsh as she shook her head. She wasn’t usually rude like this, but she didn’t like this sort of treatment. Standing up, she straightened her outfit before walking into the clean office. It was pretty neat and comfortable, the air inside was scented, lavender she guessed. The wizard took a seat opposite another glass table, this one larger and covered in paperwork and stationery, a screen on one side of it. The man sitting across her wore a super clean lab coat, there was not a fold or spot on it. It seemed as though he had been sitting in that chair the entire day. The dark circles underneath his eyes showed sleep had not been an option for the poor man these past few days. Lynn crossed her legs, clearing her throat before she began talking again. “I guess this lady here has told you my business here. I’ll be quick about it. Your poodles are dead. They had transformed into half vulcan half poodle creatures before they were killed by me. There was a mad scientist - who I killed too of course. There was no saving them and I’m sure you’re aware of this. Plus, I am guessing you have a reward for me for all this,” she said, pointing at the ears on top of her head. “Gas effect. It was from the green gas that was just outside the laboratory. The mad scientist had it there for intruders to probably get scared or something I don’t know.

The scientist had his hands on the desk the whole time, listening very attentively to what Lynn was saying, and when she stopped, he removed his hands from the table and placed them in his lap. “Thank you so much for your cooperation, wizard. You will be rewarded of course! And also, it would be a pleasure if you would accept some tea. I have prepared this especially for you. It will help the gas effect disappear faster.” Lynn blinked. Was this true? His tea was supposed to remove the gas effect faster? “If you don’t believe me that’s fine. But you could try, you know. It wouldn’t hurt to try.” And so he had his assistant - Lynn guessed - bring her the reward, which she gladly accepted. A smile on her face now, but she was curious about the tea. She would very much love to have the stupid ears and the annoying tail off her body sooner than later. “Now that that’s done with, I can inform the Rune Knights about it and get them to investigate further on the case. Anything else? Otherwise, you may go,” the scientist said, watching Lynn carefully and curiously.

Uh, actually, I’d like to try that tea before I leave. It wouldn’t hurt to try, right?” Lynn said, looking at him in the eyes. The scientist smiled and ordered his assistant to bring them the tea. The mage waited calmly, studying the contents of the large room. A lot of complicated things appeared on the screen on the side of the glass table, which she could not decipher, but they looked like messages from someone. Well not just someone, a lot of someones. “You seem to be a very busy man,” she noted. The scientist nodded, doing something with a keypad Lynn had never seen before. He was so concentrated on it that he did not even reply to Lynn or even give her eye contact when he nodded at the statement of her observation. The tea arrived in no time and Lynn had it downed in no time as well. The assistant asked if she wanted another glass, so she asked the scientist if drinking more would make the effect disappear faster or if it did not work like that. Sadly, the scientist told her that it didn’t work like that and she would have to find a stronger medicine like that if she wanted it to go away faster than the tea was going to help. “Alright then. Thank you for this,” she said, placing the teacup on its saucer and getting up. “I’ll get going now. Take care and I’m sorry about your poodles,” she told the scientist before turning around and leaving.
