    Job details:

He exhaled deeply and raised his left double barrelled pistol and quickly pulled the trigger launching a pair of black bullets firing towards the middle of two targets. Without hesitating or even waiting he glared at the bullets and their trajectory changed slightly causing them to split and hit what appeared to be the centre of the target. He however sighed deeply and holstered the pistol at his waist. "Off by 1.3mm" he said with a tone of frustration in his voice. Suddenly out of nowhere an arrow flew past his ear and stabbed into the very centre of the target. That alone would caught his attention, but what caught his eye was the scroll tied around the arrow. He glanced round looking for the person firing the arrow, but they appeared to have vanished.

Was the attack meant for him and it was just lucky it had missed and hit the target? Possibly, but it seemed too precise a shot for such a thing. Besides why the letter if it was an assassination attempt? It wasn't like the assassin would sign their name on it. Unless they were very cocky of course. There was only one way to find out and was to read the letter. So he did just that.

"Hey... um... Look, my name's Lexa and I need some help. I was checking around the Ancient Ruins after one of my jobs, and I found.... something. I can't go through the tunnels on my own because the enemies are a bit much. So if you'll assist me in taking them out I'd be sure to give you something!" were the words it said it was signed Lexa Grimoire. Not someone that he knew, but it was certainly interesting. A mission to the ancient ruins to help someone in need? That not only suited the goal of Pharoah's call, to better the lives of others, but also his own goals. However, at his current level of strength he didn't think he would be able to manage it alone. He would have to find someone.

He headed off through the halls of the guild to look for someone who might help him when eventually he came across Aemon, a man with a name very similar to his own. He'd already heard people refer tothem as the A-team. "Good morning Aemon. I've just received a request for help from someone called Lexa. Want to come with me? I could use your assistance."

    - Aemon

    " "
Aemon sat in his room in the newly discovered home, the first place he could have called a home since the flames of destruction swept away Eclipse Soul. Since then he has been something of a lost soul without a purpose freelancing jobs here and there until he stumbled upon this place, Pharaoh’s Call. Ever since then he has made himself at home after joining up with the Independent Guild. The Guild Master was Aiyana Shuer who’s people were still inhabiting the halls. However since arriving and settling in his home he finally found comfort but within that comfort he become a bit anxious to the point that he actually took the time to furnish his room and as well as complete some physical training here and there. He was currently was  positioned on the edge of his bed, sitting up sipping a cup of coffee that he brought with him after eating his breakfast and let out an exasperated sigh "This place is nice but I need to get out and do something. Maybe a job will help me escape this isolation I have managed to find myself in." he thought to himself as he took his final sip of coffee. With his feet planted against the floor as he pushed with his leg muscles to stand up straight and proceeded to exit his room
made his way into the main room of the guild hall.

A few minutes later Aemon could be found sitting at one of the many tables scattered throughout the Guildhall with the surface of the table in front of him littered with a half of a dozen job flyers staring up at him. He was underwhelmed with the jobs available for him to take at his current skill level. With that current realization all the energy he had found within the possibility of finding some some sort of purpose for the day was gone. With his left elbow on the table while using his hand to prop up his head he let out a sigh and laid his hand on the table palm faced up and he used his weapons factory to produce a perfect replica of one of the swords he had stored inside. The sword was a one handed ivory white butterfly blade with a ying yang symbol near the guard of the blade. As he did so one of his guildmates,Ammon a member of his guild just as tall if not taller than him clad in leather pants shirt and a stylish leather jacket with a black mask that covered the top half of his head covered by a large mask with three holes, one for his normal two eyes and one higher up on the mask for the large man’s third eye. Aemon’s eyes locked onto three green eyes belonging to Ammon and gave him a half a smile "Good day Ammon. What can I do for you? " greeting his guildmate before Ammon got down to the reason why he was there. The reason for the visit was soon made clear as Ammon began to speak on the topic of a job in which he needed Aemon’s aid with. From the little bit he gathered from his guildmate the client’s name was Lexa but that was about it, with such little information given he had no real inclination to accept but the fact that his guildmate came to him for help meant that it could be the exact job that he had failed to find among the many flyers that didn’t quite do it for him. "hmmm, sounds like it could be interesting but before I say yes I’m going to need more information. Would you mind taking a seat and catching me up to speed on the specifics of the request?" he said lifting his head from it’s propped position and using his now free left hand to point at the seat across the table from him.

Post by Ammon 7th February 2016, 2:08 am

Ammon sat down without a word and then closed his eyes focusing upon the memory of the letter rather than getting it. "The client, Lexa, has found something of interest within the maze of the ancient ruins. However, she feels incapable of reaching this something, whatever it is, because of the difficulty of the enemies." he said calmly as he opened his eyes and then slid the letter across to Aemon so that he could look at it and perhaps decipher some more information. "Normally I wouldn't care to go without more accurate information about what I will be facing, or what the client is after, but it arrived in a rather unusual method and that has peaked my curiousity. Its not often someone shoots an arrow at me and manages to hit a target more accurately than I do and then is nowhere to be seen."
With those words he slid the arrow across to Aemon as well. Perhaps the arrow had some hidden information he was not aware of. A special arrowhead or something? Whilst he was a marksman his focus was guns, not bows. He could use a bow and use it will but he was no expert

Yes, there were two reasons he wanted to go on this mission. The first was of course to help the client and the other was to sate his curiousity. Why send the letter in such a manner? How did they deliver it so accurately? How did they dissapear so quickly and easily. "It wants at least two mages, so I suspect the enemies come in numbers. The mystery is getting my blood pumping."

He wondered if Aemon would be willing to come on this job. They didn't know eachother that well nor had they worked together before. However, people had called them a team as a joke so perhaps it was time they worked together and made that team a reality, providing they worked well together at least.

Aemon’s eyes were fixed on Ammon as he took the seat that he was pointing at with his free hand and waited for the masked man to speak more about the job that he believed that he needed assistance with. Not wanted to seem as if his attention was elsewhere, Aemon let the white sword dematerialized into thin air releasing the replica that was fabricated from his weapons factory lacrima and he listened as he divulged the information he was willing to share. Ammon shared with the Dragon that the client, whose name is Lexa found some sort of maze in the ancient ruins and more importantly there was something within these ruins but she evidently felt that she wasn’t able to get it on her own, Aemon listened intently and nodded to show that he was doing so however the nods wouldn’t have meant much seeing as Ammon had all three eyes closed while explaining but soon opened up and slid the paper across the table so Aemon could read the actual flyer for himself and he did so, letting his emerald eyes scan the short note and read to himself "Hey... um... Look, my name's Lexa and I need some help. I was checking around the Ancient Ruins after one of my jobs, and I found.... something. I can't go through the tunnels on my own because the enemies are a bit much. So if you'll assist me in taking them out I'd be sure to give you something!" he read to himself quickly while half paying attention to Ammon who was speaking once more this time not explaining anything about the job but more so the reason to which he came to Aemon for help. Apparently the note was delivered in an unceremonious way, declaring that it hit a target more accurately than he was able to and then the sender gone without a trace.

Before Aemon could really ask what he meant by that last statement he remembered that Ammon was carrying heat in the form of firearms and he slid the arrow across the table which caused Aemon’s eyes to shift from his guildmate down to the arrow that laid on the table before him. He set down the flyer near Ammon and picked up the arrow by the shaft and brought it closer for to better inspect it. He let out a slight hum sound while looking over the entirety of the arrow from the nock of the arrow all the way to tip of the broadhead. "quite the arrow this is. The nock is fixed on the shaft so no unintentional twist can occur it is also wide meaning whoever shot it was skilled in quick drawing their bow. The shaft is made of a custom alloy most likely an aluminum at the base making it lighter than steel but tougher than wood." he paused and let the arrow shift in his hand so he was holding it up by the broadhead "but the most interesting thing is the tip, seemingly all metal but the tip itself has been fused magically with diamond..." he looked up from the arrow to his guildmate "I can tell that whoever made this arrow has some skill in archery, most hobby and novice archers don't go through the trouble of forging their own arrows. They don't brand them either." he set the arrow down on the table with the brand facing up revealing an LG, it was easy to miss if you weren't looking for it. His interest in the job was already peaking, he was curious to whom the arrow belonged to and how they managed to fire an arrow within the confines of Pharaoh’s Call and slip away without any sort of trace but when he mentioned that the job itself called for two mages take on the job and that the mystery his blood pumping he let a smirk form on his lips "The feeling is mutual this job has become something of interest to me. Count me in Ammon. I shall accompany you on this job. When do we leave?" he asked prepared to leave at a moment's notice but wanted to give his new comrade his own fair amount of prep time.

Post by Ammon 10th February 2016, 10:49 am

So he was right about the arrow. He had suspected, from a brief glance, that it was certain different to normal arrows. He wasn't any expert on them so wouldn't of noticed a lot of that information. He was however quite surprised he had missed the signature. So this Lexa Grimoire, or someone with the same initials at least, had snuck into the guild to ask for their help and then had run off without awaiting a response? Why not just ask him face to face? It would of been quicker and easier and then all three of them could of headed off together. Unless the arrow was hers but the archer was not her. That was possible. There was also the possibility that the archer just had the same initials. LG wasn't exactly uncommon. It might not even be initials. It could be a brand or something. It seemed though that bringing the arrow to Aemon had another effect and that was to get his blood pumping. Ammon could see it in the man's eyes that he was excited. The more he studied the arrow the greater that became.

"I am ready to leave whenever you are." Ammon replied. "Though as it is a maze I would suggest we take some supplies. I've almost died of thirst before and its not an experience I want to have again." He was thinking of the time before he joined the guild. When he'd been walking across the desert in his biker style leathers and had almost died from thirst and heat exhaustion. OF course, in the underground it was likely not to be as roasting hot but it was still probably a bit stuffy. Yes, supplies would be useful unless Aemon was able to generate them in some way. Ammon himself did not have that ability. It was something he did plan to look into though.

"As we haven't worked together its probably a good idea to discuss strategy and battle tactics along the way so we don't get in eachother's way and can try and predict eachother a bit." he said thinking about it. In the ruins some of his techniques could be ideal for getting hidden enemies and checking round corners. However, if his ally suddenly moved in the way and got hit...that would be bad. HE had some control over speed and trajectory, but he only had about a second to make those changes. Sometimes that was far too short of a time.

    " "
Aemon was quite pleased with the prospect of this job but even more so that it seemed that he and Ammon were both sharing the same level of excitement for the job. He was even more pleased from the fact that Ammon was ready mentally to head out at that moment but brought up a rather good suggestion that they should both procure some supplies for the job and with reason being that they would be in a maze which could mean they would have to solve it to complete the job. Aemon nodded in agreement after Ammon shared his story of his near death experience "Supplies might not be such a bad plan. A regular maze would most likely be child's play for the two of us but with this being a maze of ancient times we couldn't possibly know how what sort of puzzle we would be walking into or how long it would take to finish." then of course during a brief moment Aemon began to think of the mystery archer that had paid his comrade a visit. He had almost wished he had been there instead when the job request was delivered, he would have liked to have witnessed the velocity of the arrow as it struck the target, he also might have gotten a chance to see, the sound of a bow string snapping after a shot was ingrained into his sense but then again he might have been taken by surprise just as his friend was, but that wasn't the only thing he was thinking about regarding the mystery archer. He also considered the possibility that he or she might take another shot at either of them so being aware of this would be prudent.

Aemon broke his train of thought when Ammon mentioned something, he missed most of the sentence but caught enough of it to piece together that Ammon wanted to discuss battle tactics or more specifically how they both fought individually and if they could mesh well on the battlefield. Aemon crossed his left leg over his right and leaned back in his chair "I concur, allow me to go first then. I'll start with my combat preferences and non magic abilities." he pauses and pointed his right finger to his right temple "Due to a low affinity with my own magic those who raised me implanted a lacrima in my head, it allows me to store any weapon I come into possession of and it also allows me to create an exact copy of said weapon and use that in battle as a proxy of the original. As for what I have stored up in there I have a pair of twin butterfly blades you saw one of them when you arrived. I also have my bow which produces its own arrows and I have a special arrow that I rarely use but if I do it will surprise you. So I'm versatile with combat” he paused "my magic derives from the dragon soul in my body other than that I don't use it much." he stopped and let his eyes close, mentioning that filthy thing that is in his body made him cringe but looked sharply at Ammon. "How does that fit with what you have to offer?"

Post by Ammon 15th February 2016, 4:21 pm

"My magic revolves around my guns." he said tapping one of the weapons at his side. "I use magic to change their form and allow me to use special shots, they used to be a lot more powerful, but now they are mostly to weaken my opponents." He paused considering whether or not to go in depth and why he had lost his power, but decided against that for the time being. It wasn't really relevant to the conversation. "I can use them at close combat, but as you'd expect i'm more suited to range. A maze might seem like a bad place for a gun, but for some reason i've always had the ability to bend flames to my will...and using that I can manipulate m bullets slightly to make them ricochet, slow down, speed up or even change trajectory." That was perhaps his greatest talent. The ability to bend his bullet's movements to his very will, though of course it had its limitations. "So, it looks like we are both ranged fighters...and if that girl Lexa is the shooter of the arrow then she's likely an archer. Our best bet is probably to lay down heavy fire and drive the targets into eachother's shots, or inescapable situations."

A pain went through his head as he mentioned shooting people. For a moment he felt all his magic drain away. "But of course we won't shoot to kill...that isn't the way of the Pharoah's Call. No, we'll go mostly for just knocking them out or something like that." When those words were said he felt his magic power return. The curse of the god that was upon him was a pain. He'd been cursed to lose all his magic power but a small fraction and would only regain the rest by truly helping people. Hurting people with intent to hurt or kill them caused him pain and to lose his magic. "So we'll keep it purely non-lethal unless our hands are force." That seemed to please the god who wasn't at all stupid. He knew times came when it was kill or be killed, but he despised killing when it wasn't needed.

With those words said he mentioned briefly that he was going to grab supplies and he'd meet Aemon by the entrance in ten minutes. When Ammon arrived at the entrance he would have a small satchel containing a few bottles of water and some long life travel rations. Several days worth of portions though he'd often lived on just one quarter portion. "Ready when you are." he would say to Aemon if he was there or when he arrived.

    - Aemon

    " "
Aemon sat there and listened while Ammon explained how his particular magic worked, he was genuinely interested in what his guildmate would have to say. Ammon revealed that his magic was related to his guns and proceeded to tap one that was strapped to his hip before continuing his explanation while short for at the moment mentioned his magic allowed him to alter the shape and overall function which was something that intrigued him greatly. While he had experience in handling various weapons in the form of spears, swords and bows and arrows, he had never had the opportunity to work with any form of firearms whether it be a pistol like what his friend had or a rifle which he had only heard of. While he knew how guns worked in theory it was still interesting to hear about how they worked and Ammon’s magic allowed his weapons to be extremely versatile in combat with an ability to change his bullet’s velocity, trajectory and even calculate its impact angle to ricochet which could come in handy in a maze although his point of a range fighting in a maze could prove to be tricky but all the same it could prove useful all the same and more so than his arrows which wouldn’t be able to be altered once it was fired.

The discussion of magic and abilities had concluded without having to further divulge information about his own magic  which suit him fine, he didn’t like drudging up the sins of his ancestors and the role his own magic played in the blood lines’ demise. Now there was another topic that was brought up by the gunslinger, the subject of not shooting to kill and how it wasn’t Pharoah Call’s way to recklessly kill. Although Aemon had no issue with killing when the need arose he did understand the need for mercy, but his whole reason for being in this guild would allow him to truly value life in a way that might have saved his kingdom from damnation. However it seemed to some slight degree that the mentioning of killing made Ammon rather uncomfortable to a degree to which Aemon had something to say on the matter "It would be best to keep to the guild’s creed for as much and long as possible but if it would ease your mind you can leave any sort of killing blow to me if the need arises." he said rather calmly not the least bit phased from the notion of carrying that responsibility on his shoulders.

After all was said Ammon had excused himself to go and collect the supplies that he would need for the upcoming job, Aemon would follow his lead and return to his own quarters to procure what little supplies he might need. He filled a long military like duffle bag with several canteens of water non perishable canned food such as beans, fruit veggies and other survival supplies such as matches and a large tent big enough for a team of 5 to fit in comfortably. With a quick tug on the drawstring the bag was closed and slung over his shoulder and headed for the guild’s entrance where Ammon would be waiting for him but took a slight detour to visit where the target ridded with bullet holes was located so he could see for himself what sort of impact the arrow had on the target. Dead center of one of the targets was a hole clearly made by an arrow and almost shot clean through the target. Aemon placed his free hand on the hole and traced it and let out a hum like sound "With an arrow like that, how is it that it didn’t go through the target?" this question perplexed him as he left the area and made his way to where Ammon was waiting for him declaring that he was ready if he was. Aemon grinned and nodded "I’m as ready as I can be. All that’s left now is to brave the unknown of the maze."
