Act II: Adflictio (JOB/Gamon)

Sorano watched as, suddenly, two more of the oddly shaped blobs appeared, attacking at a surprisingly fast speed. Though their speed could by no means outrun the mage's, it was much faster than you'd expect a jello-like creature thing to move. As Gamon took care of one of them, an iron sword shooting out from his hand, Sorano turned to the other blob, pulling her bow back and releasing an arrow into the liquid-like mass. It was easily shot off the bridge, it having been close to the edge.

By now, Sorano had already sensed the presence of a human nearby. As she lowered the small wooden bow, she twisted her head around, quickly locating the aura her senses had warned her of. She hid her hand behind her back, pretending not to have noticed as she wrote out her signature spell, tucking the stray bits of electricity that was beginning to trickle into existence. She sighed, realizing that this new arrival happened to be yet another military brute, equipped exactly like the last one. She doubted they could pull the same trick off again, with less magical power left.

As he slowly walked out, heavy boots booming against the metal grate, Sorano released the spell, making sure that Gamon, Tykva, and Transboze Lexa were well out of the lightning's range. As thunder rumbled overhead, the gigantic bolt of lightning slammed into the bridge, the military brute at the midst of it all. Sorano had carefully aimed it, so it wouldn't be enough to break the bridge. However, she knew that it would be unsafe to use it again, at least while here. The military brute would be unable to dodge it, as it enco passed such a large area, and luckily her companion's were out of the way. As he slowly began to recover, Sorano signaled that the others should attack now.

Stats and Stuff:

The sword quickly retracted back. Leaving behind the fleshy arm of Gamon. The dragon slayer looked back to see that his guild mate took on the other gelatinous blob. She drew back her bow and released an arrow. Her aim was impeccable. The arrow stuck the blob dead on, the force of the impact knocked it off of the bridge. These things sure liked to fall off of the bridge. Or who ever built all of these bridges never thought to about how easily these blobs would roll off. None the less it helped the mage's deal with the gelatinous blobs easier. 

Gamon began to relax seeing as the enemies have been defeated. That's when he heard heavy footsteps coming towards them. The footsteps sounded familiar. Then from around the corner, the cause of the noise came into view. It was another military brute. He had the exact same gear as the first one the group faced. A shotgun, a metal pole with a skull on top, and a thirst for blood. Sorano made the first move. She wrote out one of her spells. Gamon began to back away when he say the electricity start to form. Why does everyone who I go on jobs with have to use a type of electricity. Gamon thought to himself. One of these times its going to come back and and harm me more than the intended target. 

Sorano released the bolt of lightning, aimed right at the soldier. They soldier was knocked off of his feet from the sudden amount of electricity. Gamon knew how that felt all too well. As the soldier began to make it to his feet, Sorano motioned for the rest of the group to attack. Gamon was hesitant about attacking. There is always some left over electricity. He also knew that if he did not attack now they might lose the upper hand. Gamon decided that it might be useful and safe to bind the soldier up. Letting the others attack while he hold on to the soldier. Gamon called upon one of his spells. "Binds of the Iron Dragon!" Two chains shot out from his hands. The chains wrapped around the soldier's arms and legs. Rendering the brute unable to move and vulnerable.

Sorano stepped back, watching the others move. Gamon seemed a little uncomfortable about the electricity, but he made a move anyway, shooting chains around the brute. For a second Sorano seemed to space out, wondering about Gamon's odd auric reaction to lightning. She sighed, then focused her gaze back onto the task at hand. The brute was bound, now, and vulnerable to their attacks. It had been a good move from her teammate, to reduce the mobility of the enemy. Sorano thought briefly about what to do that would defeat the enemy quickly, and neatly, without giving the brute a chance to break free. In a situation like this, she had no idea what spell would attack the opponent without impacting the binds. Physical, natural attacks in this situation would be best. She pulled out an arrow, nocked it, and drew back her bow.

However, before Sorano could release the wooden projectile at the man, a blur of flaring circuits charged forward, and a swift kick was directed at his chest. The letter mage winced at the sight, thinking that it must have hurt. However, Transboze Lexa wasn't quite done yet. Hand after hand, fist after fist, with kicks thrown in, the girl attacked mercilessly, aiming in places without protective clothing. As usual, she was a sight to behold in good old bare fists fighting. However, it wouldn't be enough to knock this guy out.

Sorano, seeing that one small arrow wouldn't do much after that barrage of attacks, shipped the weapon back into her quiver, and wrote through the air again. "Solid Script: Fire!" Flaming letters hurtled through the air, slamming straight into the man. It wasn't so powerful a spell that would destroy the binds, but powerful enough to weaken the man by quite a bit. Now, when Transboze Lexa delivered one last great kick, the man was easily knocked out. "That was a good move, Kinzoku-san," the letter mage commented lightly, looking sideways at the dragon slayer.

Stats and Stuff:

Gamon was surprised that iron chains held up against the military brute. The soldier seemed to have been stronger than Gamon. If the two of them had to go one on one, without any weapons or magic. He was almost certain that he would lose that fight. Luckily for everyone, magic was legal in the fight. Iron Dragon Slayer's iron is much stronger than normal metal. That is most likely why the brute was not able to break free. Even though his iron was stronger it does not mean it was unbreakable. With a strong enough attack or even weak ice magic his iron could be broken. Gamon usually kept that fact to himself. He didn't want people knowing his weaknesses. 

All Gamon could do was hold on tight and hope his team will take the soldier down quickly. Sorano seemed the first one to make a move. She drew her bow and pointed it at the chained up enemy. Before she could release the arrow a blur of light ran past her. Transboze Lexa had jumped into the fight. Throwing kick and punches as she usually did. She did a number on the military brute, but it wasn't enough to finish him off. Sorano stepped up, to take up the task of finishing the soldier up. She wrote out one of her spells. Fire flew at the soldier, hitting him with great force. The blow managed to knock the soldier out for good. 

Gamon released the chains that held the soldier. His body fell to the ground with a hard thud. His teammate looked looked back at Gamon and paid him a nice compliment. Gamon scratched the back of his head. "Eh, it was nothing really. I didn't want to get close the electricity. Oh, also for a future reference fire enhances my magic. Making it stronger." Gamon replied. He stepped forward heading the same way they were going before. "Well I guess we should move out again."

'Monster Dice' :

Sorano watched as the chains dropped onto the ground with a soft clang as Gamon released them. She listened to his tip on the fire, and Sorano nodded once, briskly. "Understood, Kinzoku-san. I will keep that in mind," she said in reaction. Slowly, they began to walk on. Ahead, the beginning of the other side could be made out ever so slightly in the gloom. If this lab was just like the barrier, that meant that the actual laboratory was there, and that was likely where they would find out more about Lexa and Transboze Lexa. To be honest, Sorano was pretty interested as to what they would discover.

However, she soon spotted auras out of the corner of her eye. Hopefully this would be their last skirmish before reaching the lab. Two blobs and a military brute, attacking them, much like some attacks from before. Sorano knew that Transboze Lexa's teleporting and physical attacks wouldn't be able to defeat the brute, so she tilted her head towards the blobs. She hoped the older girl could see what she meant and attack the blobs.

Transboze Lexa definitely understood, looking a little unhappy. But that was over as she began an all out flurry of punching and kicking at the two forms, avoiding blasts of blood with ease. Meanwhile, the mage's had a brute to take care of, and this time Sorano held up her hands again, forming a large mirror. She released the Mirror Shard Attack, sending deadly sharp pieces of the substance spinning into the brute. They were deadly sharp, and inflicted quite a bit of damage on him. She had been sure to align the projectiles in such a way so that they wouldn't kill him. Though this guy was strong and fast enough to probably avoid a few, it was unlikely that he could avoid all ten.

Stats and Stuff:

From ahead of the group, Gamon could hear movement coming towards them. He could hear the wet, sticky sounds that the gelatinous blobs always made. From just behind the slimy blobs he could hear the heavy footsteps of a Military brute. It sounded as if he was loading his shotgun. The first enemy to show its face were the two gelatinous blobs. Sorano looked towards Transboze Lexa. Without any words she commanded Lexa to deal with the blobs. Lexa seemed reluctant at first, but soon dropped that attitude and started to attack the slimy balls. Transboze Lexa jumped straight into combat with her unique fighting style. She punched and kicked, all while avoiding blood projectiles. 

Lexa had the little guys taken care of. Which left Gamon and Sorano to deal with the big guy themselves. Of course he had the automatic shotgun and the metal staff. Gamon could only think of how tired he was of these guys. They were too tough for their own good. Sorano took the initial attack. She summoned a large mirror to her palm and then broke it into ten large shards. She sent the mirror shards flying with deadly precision towards the soldier. The brute was able to dodge a few of the shards, but he still took a few shards in the arms and body. None of the shards were fatal. 

Gamon had to use this opportunity to make his move. While the brute was stunned by Soranos attack, it left him wide open. Gamon took the opportunity. He charged straight at the brute. Before he got to the soldier, he jumped into the air. Gamon spread his arms out above his head. "Iron Dragon's Wing Attack." With one quick, smooth motion he brought his arms down towards the ground. As he did this, a large whirlwind of air and metal shards flew towards the soldier. The force of the attack, knocked the brute back towards the edge. All he needed was a little push and he was going over the side.

And surprisingly, Hoshi gave that push. After seeing Gamon use his attack to quickly take care of the brute, the exceed flew over, and with a quick snap of her Aera wings, she swept a gust of wind into the brute's face and with a shocked look on his face, he fell back, falling into that dark void. It really hadn't been a good choice for whoever designed this place to stick a whole void underneath this bridge. It was just asking for things to get pushed into.

Looking ahead of them, then, Transboze Lexa sucked in a deep breath if apprehension. Was she going to face the truth behind her past now? Was the end of that bridge... The end to her uncertainty? The end to her confusion? Slowly, she stepped forward, her combat boots clanking slightly on the metal grating of the bridge. Sorano and Hoshi followed at a respectful distance, the younger mage's leather sandals barely making a noise on the grating.

Slowly, the blonde stepped onto the solid land that was the laboratory floor, and after a couple more steps, she stopped. Gazing around, she suppressed a shudder at the experiments around them. Tubs and giant tubes full of colored liquid, connected by thin, flexible tubes were arranged everywhere, and an eerie sound of dripping echoed from deep inside the mess of tubes. This place was frighteningly familiar. It was almost an exact copy of the place Transboze Lexa had been in while inside the transboze's labyrinth. Sorano, Gamon, Hoshi, and Tykva had met their greatest enemy of the job there. Who would they find this time?

"Kinzoku-san, Granon-san, as well as Tykva and Hoshi-chan, I have a bad feeling about this place. I believe a strong opponent will appear soon, so everyone be on guard. This place gives me the creeps," Lexa voiced her concerns about the place to her companions, slowly circling the area without tubes, something here was significant to her... But what was it?

Stats and Stuff:

Once Gamon touched down on the metal grated bridge, he quickly looked up. He half expected one of Sorano's spells to fly above his head, and knock the military brute off of the bridge for good. Instead a small Tabby exceed flew up to the brute. With quick jerk of her wings she created another gust of wind. The exceed made wind was enough to finish him off; sending the brute off the bridge. The poor guy was defeated by dragon and exceed wings. Gamon stood up and looked up at Hoshi with a small smile on his face. "I wasn't expecting you to deal the final blow, but nice job anyways." 

Gamon looked down at the rest of the group. Transbose Lexa was ahead of everyone looking towards the end of the bridge. He could only guess what was running through her head. The excitement and fear of possibly getting answers to any of her questions. It could also just leave her with more questions as well. Gamon kind of knew how she felt. He would love to know what happened to Metalicana, but he wasn't ready to meet him again. He wasn't strong enough.

Lexa lead the group down the rest of the bridge. The step off of the metal bridge and onto solid ground was odd for Gamon. While he was on the bridge he was able to sense movement through the metal. Now being on land, it was like he lost one of his eyes. A whole sense lost, but he can make due without it. Gamon looked around the laboratory. Large tubs of strange liquid were scattered about. Some of the tubes were illuminated and others looked to have cracks on the glass. Most of the lab was dimly lit. It almost seemed like it was hiding a bigger threat. The group walked deeper into the lab looking on all the tables to try to find out answers for Lexa. When they were a good hundred feet away from the bridge, a loud switch could be heard in the distance. Next the lights would light up a row at a time, starting from the bridge and moved towards a back wall. "Oh, no," Gamon wispered to himself.

Arianna Grimoire:

Suddenly, the soft clipping and clopping of someone in high heels echoed through the room. From within the labyrinth of tanks and tubes, a slim figure slowly strode out with deliberate footsteps. A lithe woman stood before them, long, dark red hair trailing down her back. She wore a long white lab coat, with fashionable and very modern clothes underneath. Her expression was calm, and full of hatred. "You're supposed to be dead. I'll make sure it gets done this time." she said coldly, staring at Transboze Lexa with loathing in her eyes.

Sorano and Hoshi snapped into positions for battle, and Transboze Lexa tensed, something jogging her memory. This woman was important, but who was she? Upon closer inspection, the tag on her coat read "Arianna Grimoire". This person was probably a relative of Lexa's, maybe even the one who had created Transboze Lexa. With one slash of her arm to the side, their new opponent summoned two scientists holding bone saws and one military brute. She then stood calmly, staring with cold eyes at the small group, while the three summoned opponents advanced.

Sorano gritted her teeth, knowing sde would have to take some hits, now, and raised her shield. Too bad there wasn't a handy-dandy void to kick them into now... But there were tons of tubes and tanks for them to fall into and trip on. " Hoshi-chan, take me up!" Sorano called, having formulating an idea. As the two rose, Sorano shot an arrow down to provoke the brute, leaving the scientists to Gamon. She felt that Lexa would want to take on Arianna. Meanwhile, she and Hoshi would begin leading the brute on a wild dash through the maze of tanks and tubes... With him tripping over just about everything. By the time the two stopped, he'd be too far into the maze, and probably wouldn't be able to find his way out, or he'd be exhausted enough to defeat easily.

Stats and Stuff:

Gamon would look behind him where the noise was coming from. The sound of someone wearing high heels echoed through the room. The source of the sound, was a woman in a white lab coat. She had a cold, almost evil look about her. The words she spoke to Transboze Lexa seemed to  backed up Gamon's thought. "You're supposed to be dead. I'll make sure it gets done this time." After she said that Gamon noticed the name on her lab coat, Arianna Grimoire. Was she related to Lexa somehow? She had to be they have the same last name. Gamon thought to himself as he attempted to make sense of the situation. Before he knew it Arianna had summoned two circuit covered scientists and a military brute. It seemed like she was hiding behind her magic. Hoping to end the conflict without getting her hands dirty. She would have another think coming if she thought these minor speed bumps would slow down the group of mages. 

Sorano called to Hoshi, ordering her to pick up the young mage. While in mid air she shot an arrow at the military brute. The small arrow was able to draw the brutes attention to Sorano. Hoshi and Sorano started to fly away into the complex web of tubing and test pods. Gamon looked backed to the remaining two enemies, who had started to inch forward towards the dragon slayer. "Well, I hope those two will be okay. I guess that leaves you to with me." Gamon would wear an eager smile on his face. "Let's dance." He would wave the two bonesaw wielding scientist to come and attack him.

Gamon just stood there as the scientist ran at him. As the first scientist approached the slayer he would swing the bone saw at Gamon. The scientist's bone saw would hit with a clang, as he hit iron scales. Gamon let out a little chuckle and snatched the bone saw from the scientist. Gamon started to eat the bone saw, as the scientist stood there and watched and fear. After the saw was devoured, Gamon did a kick spin and kicked the scientist into the other scientist.

Deep within the maze of tubes and tanks, Sorano watched calmly as the brute fell flat on his face for about the fiftieth time, and stayed there, moaning in pain. Hoshi slowly lowered the girl into the mess, and Sorano bent down slowly to the man's eye level. "I am very sorry, oji-san, but I'm afraid I shall have to knock you out now. It will hurt a bit, ya know?" she said emotionlessly, and sprung away lightly from the halfhearted punch the defeated brute slung at her. With an agile leap, she landed on his back. With a smooth hand motion, her fingers jabbed sharply behind his ear, pressing in deeply as the man let out a yelp, then stilled.

After checking his pulse to ensure he still lived, Sorano formed a mirror on the tips of her fingers, letting it grow to the size of the man. Gently, she lowered it over him, watching as his body slowly disappeared into the silvery surface. Raising it again, the mirror shrank down to a size small enough to fit her pocket, and tossed it into an empty tank. After a day, the mirror would release the brute, and he would be confused, aching all over, but alive nonetheless. "Let's get back and see if Kinzoku-san and Lexa-san need our help," the letter mage said to Hoshi. The exceed nodded cheerfully, and the two hurried back to where the rest of everyone was. Gamon was pretty successful with his opponents, knocking them into each other with a powerful kick.

However, Transboze Lexa seemed unable to get at Arianna. Every kick directed at the woman wouldn't land, and every punch seemed to sail effortlessly past her head. The blonde was obviously very flustered, and occasionally she would release an angry yell or string of muttered curse words. Sorano turned to Arianna, ready to help out Lexa, when the red-haired woman swept her arm to the side again, bringing out five of those blobs, and two of those brutes. Sorano frowned a little at the scene, knowing that she and Hoshi would have to unlock their most powerful attacks to defeat so many opponents.

Gamon was surprised about taking out the scientist in one hit. He did not think that the kick was that powerful. Maybe it was a combination of several factors. The first be the most obvious, which is the kick. Due to the fact that Gamon's body has slowly started to turn into iron, his kick hit heavier and harder. The next factor could be that the scientist was running straight at Gamon. at full speed. The sudden force of the kick most likely did extra damage. The last factor involves both of the scientists. From the impact of the one who Gamon kicked and the one who was still running to attack. All three of these factors most likely contributed to Gamon's success against both of them. Knocking both of them out with one powerful hit. 

A noise came out from where Sorano disappeared at. Gamon quickly jumped into a fighting stance. He was unsure of the outcome of the fight between the military brute and the letter mage. Sorano stepped out from the maze of test chambers and tubes, followed close by hoshi. Gamon let down his guard at the sight of his fellow teammate. "Well, it looks like we were both successful in defeating our opponents. It seems like Lexa is have some issues." Gamon looked over at the one sided battle that Lexa was fighting. Every punch and kick she threw was easily evaded by Arinanna. Lexa could not land a single hit. Arinanna raised her hand once again. She summoned two of the brutes and five of the blood spitting blobs. Gamon looked over at at Sorano. "Well I guess we should split up the task of fighting the brutes. I'll take three of the blobs if you are okay with that."

There was no time to waste, Gamon quickly jumped into action. He would ran at full speed at the brute. He would actually run past the brute and the blobs which made them take chase. Gamon would look over his shoulder making sure that they were following. See that they, he decided to surprise attack the following group. Gamon jumped into the air and came down and punched the ground. "Thorns of the Iron Dragon!" Twenty large iron spikes came shooting out of from the ground. Two of the blobs were impaled clean through by the spikes. The brute was impaled as well, but it one spike went threw his foot and the another went threw his arm. The brute was stuck he couldn't go anywhere.

Sorano nodded solemnly at Hoshi, and the exceed nodded solemnly back. It was time to really get serious. Yes, even someone like Hoshi of all people has a sort of "super saiyan mode". Of course, it wasn't too amazing, but more than you'd expect from the nervous little thing. Sorano nodded quickly in response to Gamon's question, then carefully let her consciousness transfer into her aura. In a matter of a second, a pure white, softly glowing figure stood, while Hoshi carefully carried Sorano's physical body into a safe corner. Sorano quickly shot at the brute, lightning fast slashes of auric energy illuminating the dark lab with pure white light.

Hoshi, on the other hand underwent a transformation of her own. A divine and godly presence seemed to fill the room, pausing time for a second, before it was gone, and Hoshi was left with a softly shining aura about her. With a raise of her paws, two thick vines sprang from the ground, under the exceed's control. Razor-sharp thorns sliced into the blobs, impaling them neatly before she moved to help Sorano. The two flashes, they moved together smoothly and perfectly, leaving the brute no space. Though both were hurt somewhat, the brute got the worst of it in the end, covered in cuts, bruises and scratches, but nonetheless alive.

Lexa was barely keeping up with Adrianna's fast-paced movements, trying to dodge and attack the redhead. However, it was quite obvious that the mysterious scientist was quite the formidable opponent. Absolutely untouchable. After a while, Transboze Lexa was gasping and panting, having been pushed up against a tank by the redhead, who triumphantly brandished a knife. Sorano's eyes widened as she turned around, and Hoshi hissed in surprise. Who knew that the lightning fast Lexa could have been caught in such a dangerous position? Sorano looked over to Gamon, hoping her teammate was up for this. She shot at Arianna, arms outstretched, as dis Hoshi, both intent on helping Lexa. Their blows would land carefully, but Gamon's help would be needed to finish this scientist off.

'Normal Dice' :

With the military brute stuck, Gamon went to work on finishing him off. "Iron Dragon's Sword!" His right forearm quickly transformed into a jagged iron sword. Gamon started his assault on the brute. His moves were rapid and unpredictable as he still had to avoid being hit the staff that the brute was still able to attack with. It only took a few well placed hits to knock out the brute. There was a gelatinous blob that still need to be dealt with. For some reason it seemed to be hiding from the dragon slayer, but it's hard to do that since a slayers senses are heightened. It didn't take long for Gamon to track down the last blob and take care of it with one strike. 

Gamon glanced over to see how Sorano was doing in her fight. He could not find Sorano but he could only see a white figure of light. He had seen this once before, he saw it the first time they met Transbose Lexa. This is Sorano's powerful auratic form. He watched as she single handedly took on the brute. He did not expect to see that Hoshi had a similar form. The once nervous cat was now a force to be messed with. With a raise of a paw she summoned two vines with razor sharp thorns, which took out the blobs easily. The vines also block the brute from getting away from Sorano. 

The two of them turn their attention to Arianna. Lexa was still struggling to make any progress. Arianna was easily dodging her kicks and punches. The scientist pinned the worn out Lexa against a tank. She pulled out a knife, she had the intent of ending Lexa's life. Sorano and Hoshi had other plans. Both of them quickly rushed in and started to land blow after blow. Gamon need to jump in and help take down Arianna. Gamon sprinted over and started to slice at her back. Between the three of them she stood no chance. Gamon felt like the end was near for Arianna, he jumped back a few feet. The slayer inhaled deeply. "Iron Dragon's Roar!" The iron tornado delivered the final blow, knocking Arianna out.

It was over. The battle has been won. With Arianna defeated Lexa can finally get answers about her past and why she was created. The wizards stood side by side, exhausted. Sorano and Hoshi would most likely return to their original forms. Lexa would walk forward from the group and turn around to face the Fairy Tail members. "Thank you guys for everything that you have done for me. Please take this as a sign of my gratitude. It's not much, but it's all I have." She handed the two wizards a magical circuit. The wizards would accept the gift. "Thank you. If there is anything else that we could help you with don't be afraid to ask us." Sorano would most likely agree with Gamon's statement. "You guys are free to go. I'm going to stay behind and see if I can get any answers out of her." The Fairy Tail members would nod and turn to start their trek out of the labyrinth.
