Matter of the Soul [Job/Gil/Lexa] Empty Matter of the Soul [Job/Gil/Lexa]

Post by Guest 26th October 2015, 9:14 pm

    Job Description:

    we've lost it all

    & i am just a silhouette, a lifeless face you'll soon forget

    Adrenaline

It coursed through her veins making a smile pull at her lips. The wind kissed her face, and danced through her hair. There was nothing but air between her feet but that only added to the exhilaration. It hadn't always been this easy to fly but after some practice she had mastered it. Naturally, being nothing more than human Kuro couldn't exactly fly on her own. She was aided by the broom in which she had received from the witch known as Hilda. It had taken her quite sometime to even touch the thing let alone ride it. Even after she had gotten over her anger it took more than a few weeks to learn to fly on the broom. At times it felt like its own living entity, doing as it pleased rather than what Kuro wanted. Her first flight had ended with her face smashed against the Rune Knight headquarters. The few flights after that ended in similar manners. At the least the broom had yet to drop her from a great height, or really tried to kill her.

Somehow Kuro had created a bond with an object that at first she believed to be nothing more than an enchanted, flying cleaning supply. After creating that bond and a few practice flights, Kuro was almost a natural upon the broom, giving any good witch a run for her money. A smirk pulled at the Rune Knight's lips as the landscape was nothing more than a blur beneath her. A twinkle of blue caught her eye, and the broom dropped in altitude in response to her quiet wish. It lowered until the girl flew parallel with the water, low enough that she could graze the surface of the water with her fingertips. The Rune Knight hadn't had this much fun in a long time! This was the farthest she had ever traveled upon the broom! Luckily, she still had quite a ways to travel, which meant that she had plenty of time to test out a few tricks.

    ~*~

Eventually, the green landscape had changed, growing dark with each passing second. Responding to her will the broom dropped down to the earth. With a few sputters, the broom skid to a stop, Kuro's heels digging into the earth to assist the magical item. Once secure the female mage pulled out a neatly folded piece of paper from her red coat pocket.

"I'm not quite sure if this is the place?"

"Hi big sis, been a while huh!?" Lexa said with her hyperactive, child like, and high pitched voice while making sure she had appeared from light, directly in front Kuro. She wasn't entirely sure what Kuro was doing here, but did want to have a talk. "Kuro Kanso, age 20, born on the 31st of the tenth month. You're completely unable to hear my voice, but very much able to read my lips. You prefer to lock people up than kill them, the reason why, I wasn't able to find." she said using her normal voice, knowing Kuro couldn't hear it. "In case you care for how I know this much..." she said, making sure to keep her eyes locked with Kuro. Lexa reached to her neck and pulled the knot from it, and undoing the top two buttons. The pulled the space open, revealing a Black outline with dark blue insides and gold lines that give it a curcuit board type of look... what 'it' was, was the shape of a black rose. "I'm the best informant Black Rose has ever seen, since I joined." she said. "I don't like when my allies hold information back, because of you I had to..." she paused, using air quotes when she said "...talk..." before finishing the sentence. "... to some people in the knights. That means I lost one of the favours I build up. No matter, I have a few extra." she said, sounding a bit nonchalant at the last bit, not that Kuro could hear it. "The other man, the pretty boy, was Gil. I'll leave his details to silence." she said. "Oh, and I was heading to Rune Knight HQ to ask you a favor, but I guess it's lucky I bumped into you here... whatever you're up to, let's get it over with." she said, her bright blue eyes seemed to be the coldest substance that ever existed.

    Clap, Clap, Clap

The sound was crisp and clear, cutting through the previous silence that had enveloped the two girls after their confrontation. The slow clap continued, the sound of even his palms slapping together was that of utter perfection. Slowly, the golden figure appeared from between the dead tree's a smirk on his lips, and ruby gems glittering with amusement at their expense. "I must admit you two had me fooled at first." His voice was a deep rumble within his chest as he leaned against the tree's as if he had owned them, "At first I was rather aggravated at the gods for having tortured me so. I couldn't bear the idea of seeing either of your faces again." How could he when his own face was much more splendid to look upon, "Yet you two certainly had me fooled." The remark was followed with a mocking chuckle. "Nothing is more amusing to me than the squabbles of little commoners." That and some rather key information had been revealed,

"An information gatherer from Black Rose and a little deaf Rune Knight."

He eyed them over chuckling at a joke that only he was privy to. Still, there was one matter to be settled, "I'm glad that you find me pretty, anything less and I might have been offended. However, try to refrain from inconveniencing me with any silly crushes." His own red glare was heated, a silent warning to refrain from revealing his identity just yet. "I'm sure we can discuss just how you came about any information on me and just what that happens to be in a much more private setting." It sounded more like a command than a request, "After all, it would be rather beneficial to keep any particular details about me to yourself don't you think?" He straightened out his usual white jacket, making sure that his white hood covered the red mark upon his neck.

A black cloak, a bit over five feet tall with a pair of pure white locks sticking from the front and nearly touching the ground, moved from the shadow of the arrogant man. "Why so cryptic blondie? Don't wanna get arrested by your girlfriend?" Kateri said jokingly, giving a sweet giggle afterwards. Kateri pulled the hood from her head and, looked Kuro in the eye and said with a smile "Name's Kateri from Lamia Scale, lay off him, he's a decent enough guy. Not too long ago he helped me take down a group of robbers in a village, and he didn't kill anyone." she said, vouching for the good in the arrogant man's heart. "He's a bit of a sissy, but I'm sure an asskicking, and maybe him finally getting a girlfriend, though I don't know who'd be stupid enough to choose him, and he might actually be worth a damn." she added, seeing if she could get a chuckle from Kuro.

It was shortly after that joke that the ground shook, and the world became encased in walls. Trees, elevated above the group by pure black walls that seemed solid as iron, and looked as though they towered over the blonde man which was an impressive feet on its own. The little light the group had before dulled even further, reducing the light visibility down to seeing Silhouettes. Kateri reached to her back, grabbing at the handle of something that made a clicking sound as it was released. She pulled her hands forward, showing a type of shiny, silver tube sticking from the front of her black cloak. Kateri lifted her arms, revealing a very ornate assault rifle. "I'll guard the rear, Lexa, you take point. Goldilocks you're in front me, summoners are normally a bit squishier and less agile. Kuro's got the agility to dodge some attacks, so she can stick with Lexa." Kateri said authoritatively, brandishing her knowledge of formations and fighting in trench-like conditions.

    we've lost it all

    & i am just a silhouette, a lifeless face you'll soon forget

Kuro took a step back out of instinct, startled at the blonde girls sudden appearance. Had she been following Kuro the entire time? Or perhaps she was there out of coincidence much like last time? A frown had found itself on Kuro's lips, another bad habit of hers. Her frown eventually morphed into a grimace as she read the girl's lips, every bit of information leaving Lexa's lips only worsened Kuro's attitude. There was a reason as to why she kept to herself, and she worked very hard to keep certain things about her secret. Even the information she had given the Rune Knights when joining was minimal; which was only proven by the basic bits of info that Lexa had managed to get out of her officials. Still, she didn't like how easily the Black Rose informant gathered even that information, Kuro would be sure to have a word with her superiors. At the very least it had appeared that her true name, something even the Rune Knights didn't know, and her history hadn't come to light.

Allies was a rather strange label to put on the two of them especially after Lexa, a member of a guild of bounty hunters, had gone out of her way to dig up her information. Dark mages took the brunt of Kuro's hatred while those of neutral affiliation received an only slight difference in attitude. She held her hand out to Kuro, her fingers clenched tight into a fist a red light flashing from between the cracks of her fingers. When she opened up her fist, a red rose made out of crystal was in her hand. However, she only clenched her fist once more, the crystal fading into bits of dust that she let scatter in the wind. It was her only response to the blonde girl, clearly stating that the two of them were most certainly not allies. At least, not after Lexa had gone behind her back.

It appeared that not only Lexa was there but the same blonde man from before. Apparently, blonde's either really liked being near her despite her terrible luck with the fair haired mages. He was arrogant as ever spouting what seemed like never ending offensive nonsense. She didn't quite pick up on the hint that he had dropped seeing as at that moment another woman had appeared, this one with blue hair. Kateri, from Lamia Scale, at long last a legal mage that she was sure to get along with. In fact the woman already had points with the alchemist who couldn't help but smile, despite trying not to, at her words when she poked fun at the blonde.

Her smile did not last though her smiles were almost always brief. The ground shook and soon enough the four of them much to Kuro's dismay seemed to be trapped together. The lightning had reduced, enough so that Kuro couldn't clearly make out anyone's lips, only their general outline. This was already not boding well for Rune Knight, her heart rate accelerating, not liking how dim it was.

Lexa didn't like the fact that her kindness was turned down, but she could understand. From what she knew, Kuro was extremely biased against anyone who didn't stick their head up the magic council's ass and lick their intestines, so hoping for amnesty from that thinking would be foolish. Lexa heard as that guy arrived, followed by some girl with white hair. The hair turned a very bright blue color when the world shook, casting a shadow over everyone while walls appeared above them all. Quickly trotted over the the girl and gave her a hug, not knowing how she knew her name was Lexa, but not caring. The girl's plan seemed pretty sensible, and kept Gil at a distance. Lexa's eyes glowed bright blue, followed by her magic circuits beginning to shine brightly, and then fading to a gentle glow. Lexa walked to Kuro, grabbing her arm and displaying some of her strength by pulling her face close to her own. The glow from the circuits that covered everything below her neck provided enough light for her mouth to be visible. "If you try and hurt or arrest anyone here. I will kill you." she said slowly, and very clearly to the girl. Releasing with attitude as soon as she finished giving Kuro her... incentive to keep under control. Lexa grabbed the sword at her back, and drew it quickly. The blade began to glow just as brightly as her magic circuits, except this glow was more like flowing light. Lexa's circuits were bright enough to light the 2 meter wide halls, but did't extend as far as a flashlight would. She gave Kuro, the person who had no desire to be friends, a very sharp, and cold stare before turning around and beginning to run forward. Lexa agree'd that she was best to run at the front of the group. She had stronger magic, was faster than any of them, and was the groups source of light. That and, her body didn't make a sound when she moved, courtesy of her Silent Circuits canceling sound out. 'Do you truly believe you can kill that girl? She is able to cancel magic.' Gabriel asked in Lexa's head. 'Yes. I passed through that spell with ease last time, I can do it again if needed.' she responded, making sure to stay focused enough to notice objects around her.

"Well, isn't this just a happy reunion."

The thought was practically dripping with sarcasm as an all too familiar voice echoed out from behind him. The female mage from when he had accompanied her and her father one that one mission with the drunken mages. He practically choked at the word "girlfriend", as if he could ever have any romantic involvement with a Rune Knight let along such a young and ignorant girl. She had at least redeemed herself somewhat when vouching for his "goodness" which he would have replaced with "greatness" a mistake that he was willing to overlook. However, that went down the train as her next few words escaped her lips. Unable to bite back a remark or two of his own the tall blonde practically hissed at the woman, "I'll have you know I already have a...." He wasn't really quite sure if girlfriend is what he would call their relationship, "Lover. Regardless many women would die for a chance of becoming mine." Unfortunately, attacking Gil in regards of the opposite sex proved to be futile. It was perhaps the one thing Gil boasted of that was well...true. When it came to swagger, confidence, and devilish good looks Gil had it all, enough so that many women could overlook his poor attitude. What was the saying?

    "Nice guy's finish last."

The rumbling of the earth did catch the blonde off guard, his red eyes narrowing. Everything darkened, and ebony walls towered even above Gil's head of golden hair. Eventually, the rumbling stopped leaving the ground in what could only be described as a sort of eerie silence, had they been teleported elsewhere? That silence was soon cut by Kateri who took another jab at him, "I'll have you know I'm anything but squishy. I'd offer to let you feel but I'd prefer that you didn't touch me." A somewhat hidden innuendo but he stuck by Kateri nonetheless, between her and the two other mages he preferred the rifle wielding girl. That and Gil wasn't exactly one to dirty his own hands.

Kateri got a smile when she'd realized she touched a nerve with her target, the satisfaction of making him feel a bit alright with her, and then demolishing it in one fowl swoop. It was quite suddenly that she'd felt the small woman wrapping her arms around Kateri lovingly, and then letting go to address the other girl. The threat Lexa'd made to the Rune Knight, Kuro, was overheard and Kateri was in agreeing. Though, she didn't need to verbalize that if any of the others tried to become a danger, Kateri would happily blast someone's face in. She was still somewhat amazed at Lexa's ability to become a full on lightbulb at will, but was quite grateful that they didn't have to run in the dark. As added insurance to the success of this venture, Kateri used her magic to create a very thin line of ice along the wall behind her. Should the group run in circles, that line of Ice would be sufficient to let Kateri catch onto it. She figured letting the others know might be a good idea, but at the moment, between Gill and everyone else, and the two other girls... there was a lot of tension in the air. 'I'll tell them after we've gotten a bit of fighting in.' she thought to herself, knowing that the violence would take some anger out of their systems. Lexa had ran past a corridor without checking, so to cover the bases Kateri quickly turned, pointing the rifle down the way and aiming down the sight. She saw nothing and continued moving, having to speed up slightly to get back in line with Gil.

Kateri reached to her back, placing the assault rifle in its slot before reaching her other hand. This time, the barrel she pulled out from her cloak was immaculately long, surely a blast from the past for the blond man as the compact sniper rifle came out. Kateri's gut told her to get it ready, which proved to be a good instinct as she looked down the scope and saw a group of enemies in the far distance, well beyond the light that Lexa was providing. "Heads up, we got something waaay down the hall!" Kateri shouted, making sure the girl up front was able to hear her.

The lighting was dim and the landscape hardly seemed the same anymore, had they been transported to another realm? There was a wall of sorts on either side of them urging the group to go forward, creating a path for them, and prevtenting them from going to either side. "I can only wonder why it wants us to go forward." There had to be some sort of trap waiting up ahead, wherever that was. The directions in which Kateri had told them had fallen upon deaf ears, all she could see were the vague outlines of the mages.

Such low visibilily was something that Kuro detested. Perhaps she wouldn't have felt so anxious if she had perfect hearing, the darkness almost was like blindness. She feared losing another sense, sight in particular. How would she communicate with others if she lost the one thing that allowed her to at least see what others were saying? Luckily, the bleak world lit up with the glow of Lexs's circuits, that glowing figure approaching Kuro.

Kuro tore herself away from the blomde at her words, not liking the blatant threat one bit. She had yet to realize just how dangeous her companions were to her. The bounty hunter was worrisome, but she didn't know that very kind of.mage she hated was travelling with them, nor was she aware of just how heartless the other legal mage was. Giving no response Kuro trailed after Lexa keeping her distance but never straying too far from the light.

That very light wa without a doubt what had attracted the creatures. Off in the distance Kuro could make out the vague outlines of crestures that were most certainly not human. Pointing two fingers out toeards the fast approaching creatures, a bright red magic circle appeared in front of her fingers. At her command a tiny crystal shard shot forth like a bullet through the dark. The said crystal made contact with one of the creatures, its shriek sounding out through the endless hall, but an explosion soon followed after it. She smirked still holding her fingers out, ready to fire another explosive shot.

Lexa heard the call out from Kateri, warning them of enemies ahead. It was only a few seconds after that they came into sight, and a few seconds later that red bolts were fired at them. Lexa wasn't jumpy with Kuro to her back, knowing that the Rune Knight would be too slow to counter most of Lexa's attacks. Lexa knew that Kuro knew it, she also knew Kuro was sentient enough to know if you can't beat it, don't test its patience. Lexa sped up, ensuring she'd be the first fleshy thing into the fray so the enemies would focus on her. Not only did she have the upper hand in power, but she was also far more resilient than the summoner, gunner, and distance fighter she was with. This being the result of Lexa's magic requiring her to be up close, and in the enemy's face for it to work effectively. Lexa burst into darkness, causing a momentary black out that was alleviated when she reappeared, directly over the four normal enemies. Lexa spotted a large group of human shaped figured charging the rear. 'Damnit, I'll leave these three to the others...' she said to herself, but wanted to weaken the group just a tad bit. Lexa landed square on the tip of the horn of one of the shadow beasts and gave a gentle push to launch herself directly into the middle of the group. She spun while unleashing her Angelic Strike, causing the bright, holy light to slam into the three beasts. Lexa then shut off her circuits and disappeared, forcing the shadow beasts to charge the three mages behind her. The lights came back on a bit further down as Lexa directly targeted the group of soldiers. The soldiers all stopped in their tracks, all looking up as the bright star of the end was above them, and closing in fast. At the last second, Lexa fired off a ball of light towards her allies that would stick to one of the Shadow Beasts, and allow them to see where they were attacking on top of see their opponents.

The group had more or less traveled in silence, their various unpleasant conversations having died down. The desolate place seemed devoid of any and all life, and just from what little light that luminescent girl brought, Gil could tell that the place was ugly. Enough so that his nose wrinkled out of distaste, disliking that he had to dirty his very boots upon the earth of this place. He would have focused more on just how inconvenienced he was by the sudden turn of events, had Kateri not shouted out. His red glazed flickered off to the distance trying to spot what the others had already begun to see. He couldn't really see the shadows, but he could most certainly feel them or rather certain shadows he could feel.

    Beasts

He smirked at the thought, these creatures were his repertoire. The deaf girl had shot an explosive crystal at the horde of creatures while Lexa had jumped right into the middle of them, leaving both Kateri and Gil behind not that he was complaining. His smirk held strong as the creatures rushed towards him and his temporary ally. They were supposed to be some sort of frightening beasts, but Gil was incapable of fear especially fear of a beast. "Stop right there." He shoved his hands into his pockets, his smirk growing as one of the beasts halted right in front of him. "Now, now that's not anyway to approach your King." He couldn't control all of the beasts, hell the one in front of him took all of his concentration to get it to listen to him, but one beast would do. "Good. I don't like how that other beast is eyeing over my comrades. Now go on punish it for me." There was a certain quality to his voice, one that had been there before but wasn't as prominent. It had a certain sound to it, something that was urged others to listen to him, a certain ability that worked its charm on beasts but even a human would be able to hear the subtle change. With a terrifying roar the shadow beast had launched itself at one of its allies, turning on them at Gil's simple command.

Kateri watched as the blonde mage took control of the large beast, questioning if he could do the same to Shadow. 'He did try...' the voice chimed in, the wyvern having caught onto the thought. 'Emphasis on try.' it repeated, letting Lexa know her pet wasn't so easily swayed. She decided to have a bit of fun when the shadow beast turned to attack its former comrade, and ran ahead of Gil, jumping on the back of the beast while switching to her sub machine guns. A wide grin spread across her face as the beast charged with her kneeled down on its back, both weapons at her side waiting for the right moment to jump. Just as the beast attacked the other one, Kateri used the momentum to launch herself over it while holding the trigger down on the two weapons. A line of bullets riddles the beast as she moved from its nose, downs its back, and landed behind it. However, the trail of bullets were fruitless as the beast was still very much alive. Lexa put the subs back, pulling her pair of revolvers from her cloak but being forced to make a few quick backflips to avoid the third beast. She spun around with her eyes seeming cold as ice, yet there was a slight hint of a smirk on her face as she pulled the triggers on her pistols. The shots drove straight into the beasts eyes, causing it to frenzy as it was exposed to the pains of being blinded. Lexa was hit in the back by the second beast, launching her all the way back to where Gil was standing. The attack held little effect on Kateri as she allowed herself to hit the floor, and bounce into a roll that ended in her being on her feet in a crouched position. Kateri pulled the sniper from her back, leaning into the weapon and aiming at the blinded beast. She gently squeezed the trigger and braced herself as the single round erupted through the shadow beast, dispersing the beast into shadowy particles.

In the time it took Kuro to blink the light bulb like girl had already dashed into the myriad of enemies before them. Lexa was quick and there was clearly power behind her strikes but the Rune Knight wasn't willing to be shown up just yet. She shot another crystal at the enemies, the red gem travelling through the air much like a bullet and when it made contact it exploded into countless shards impaling quite a few of her enemies. She would have picked off a few more of the shadow spawn but some shadow creatures had attacked both the summoner and the gunner of the group. It was a much too easy choice for Kuro to abandon the blonde girl and help the somewhat more bearable members of their rag tag group, though truth be told the blonde male was at times more infuriating personality wise than Lexa was. However, the blonde man seemed to mind his own business because to him only his business was what mattered...

Unfortunately, the dark setting and the shadowy creatures made it hard to discern between enemy and ally alike. She just barely saw the shine of one of the dark guns belonging to Katerri before she finally heard the bullets being shot. Taking in a deep breath of air Kuro slapped her palms together with an audible smack. A light slipped between the cracks of her fingers, a mixture of red and blue. When she pulled her hands apart two crystals blades, red and blue were in her hands. Gripping the daggers tightly she tossed one at one of the shadowy creatures, and the other at the other shadow creature. Both blades exploded into crystal shards the creatures each letting loose a shriek, and one of them dispersed into little shadow particles. Yet still one beast remained, but it seemed unmoving as if it was waiting for some sort of command...

A streak of light revealed a crystalline burst, one that Lexa could already guess who's it was, and killed off a few of the front liners in the group. She paid it no heed as it was nowhere near her, and it did aid in their goal of taking them down. Lexa slammed on the ground in front one of the shadowy men, her golden sword, imbued with angelic light was sunk deep in the man's chest. It burst into particles that seemed to disintegrate until finally being gone forever. 'So they're one-shot deaths... cannon fodder!' she thought, allowing a smirk to creep on her face. One of them finally broke free of its trance and attempted to grab Lexa, failing as the girl performed a back flip while using her foot to lift the glowing sword from the ground. The other foot landed on the shadow soldier's hand, and was then used to push herself up into the air. She then grabbed the grip of the blade and threw it to the soldier, piercing its head and going all the way into the ground as the man burst into nothingness. Lexa landed into a forwards roll, springing up to punch a shadow being in the proverbial testicles, which cause it to bend over and grab them. She performed a jumping kick that caused the man to disintegrate, turning into nothing from being hit by Lexa's light-coated kick to his face. Another dark hand came out at her, only to be grabbed by its intended target and pulled in. Lexa, continuing her mid-air kill streak. The dark, featureless face was pulled in closer and received Lexa's glowing fist to the face, immediately killing it. Lexa landed into a handstand that she turned into a series of back flips, landing next to her sword that was tuck in the ground. She picked it up, charging at the remaining six enemies as they tried to charge her as a reply. The glowing girl vanished, removing all light from where she previously was. A series of golden streaks was seen at her opponent's locations, revealing their silhouettes, but vanishing soon. Lexa the reappeared in the middle of the group, revealing all of them dispersing as a result of being cut by the holy weapon, and also showing Lexa received not a single scratch from her first encounter. She then waited for her allies to catch up before she would resume running.

I AM NOT A BAD KING

even though i do bad things

    VERY BAD THINGS

    such horrible things

Battle had erupted, the three women were certainly a force to be reckoned with. He had only seen Katerii use her ebony Wyvern and rifle before but apparently she had a whole arsenal at her disposal. Then there was Lexa, merely a quickly moving bright light in the distance, but he didn't need to see her to know that she was annihilating their enemies. Last but not least there was the deaf girl, she appeared to be some sort of crystal make mage but her crystals were hardly ordinary. Last he had checked crystals did not just explode upon contact. All in all the three women were deadly but nothing for Gil to worry about. At least that's what he thought until the beast he had been controlling let loose a shriek as crystal shards exploded into its side. Much to his irritation the girl had wounded the shadow beast in which he was controlling, he supposed that she couldn't really hear him command the thing but that was hardly a worthy excuse. Though he did pity her some, she had to live her life not being able to hear his own magnificent voice?

More rumbling footsteps could be heard in the distance. There was no doubt that it was more of the strange shadow beasts. "What an inconvenience. I'll just trade this dying one for one of those healthy one's..." Albeit twisted but practical. The sounds of the beasts were drawing closer but by then something else had approached, quite literally throwing itself at the egotistical blonde. Whatever it was, it quite literally wrapped its entire body about Gil's calf, the sensation feeling almost like a small child had attached itself to his limb. "What the- get off!" He growled shaking his leg wanting the strange thing off of him, how dare it touch him without his permission. As he violently tried to shake the creature off a sudden voice rang out, trembling and fearful but somehow hypnotizing it said but two simple words,

    "Protect me."

Lexa couldn't help but giggle at the sight of the golden man flailing his leg so much. "Awe look, it wants a hug!" she exclaimed through the laughter, "Though why it's trying to hug a snake I don't know..." she said afterwards, thinking deeply on it but realistically just messing around with Gil. "Keep a hold of it, you're the only one who holds less use than their summons." she said with a snide voice, obviously just messing around. "Oh, and if you do you may be able to keep it to gift to your maybe-lover" she added to her former statement, poking more fun at his expense. Kateri set her sniper against a wall and pulled out her assault rifle. She got on one knee while aiming down sight, keeping her iron sight aimed at one of the approaching beasts and questioning if it could be tamed through conventional means. "Hey Goldilocks... bet yah 100k I can tame one of em without magic!" she said and quickly tucked her AR back in her holster.

Kateri grabbed the sniper rifle she leaned against the wall and began charging at the first shadow beast she saw. The large monster lowered its head, aiming its horn at the glacial blue haired girl and increasing its speed with hopes of successfully attacking her. Kateri's response was to jump over the horn, grabbing it and using the momentum to spin around and land on the beasts snout. It began thrashing about, and bucking all over the place, even ramming into another of the beasts as it continued past on its way to hit the other mages. Through the several minutes of Kateri holding on for dear life, all the meanwhile laughing gleefully, she never let go. The beast finally was too tired to throw her off, and upon Kateri pulling the horn to the left, the monstrous shadow beast obeyed and walked left. "Woo! Nailed it!" she exclaimed with the utmost joy. She looked around to see how the other two fared, while also making sure Kuro didn't mistake this one for unfriendly. If she would attack it, Kateri would assist the monster in maneuvering away from the attack.

Kuro could feel the rumbling of the earth and even the footsteps of the approaching beasts. "More?" She groaned, she was a Rune Knight not some sort of shadow hunter. She was supposed to arrest dark mages and the like but instead she was out here dealing with creatures of the shadows with a nosy bounty hunter, a gun wielding Lamia Scale member, and an arrogant man of an unknown affiliation. This was hardly what she thought she would be doing when she joined the Rune Knights. Letting loose a sigh Kuro materialized another pair of daggers in her hands, one red and one blue just likes last time. The approaching beasts were of different shapes and sizes, her ally Katerii having decided to take an impromptu ride on one. The Rune Knight let loose a shriek as the behemoth like beast charged past her, just narrowly avoiding getting run over. That girl couldn't actually be trying to ride that thing was she?

Kuro did not have much time to ponder the subject as one of the creatures recovered, apparently this one had accidentally been hit by the same shadow that was attempting to buck Katerii off of it. The Rune Knight and the creature at least had one thing in common and that was that neither of them appeared to be very happy at their comrades behavior. Her grip upon her daggers tightened as the rather bear like shadow charges at her now, it was staggering a bit after the hit that it took from earlier but it did make for a rather menacing sight. With a small smirk the Rune Knight tossed her blue dagger at the shadow, its properties neutralizing the creature's attack for a brief moment, and then her red dagger was quick to lodge itself into its shadowy flesh as well, this time it exploded, blowing up the other blade in the process.

Lexa stood off on the side, dimming her magic circuits down to a gently glow akin to that of a simple candle, providing ample light to her allies. She wanted to see how they fared in low lighting situations, and what their attack patterns was. Kateri, the blue haired Lamia Scale mage who was yet to use a single drop of magic power since they'd arrived. She leaned against the dark, cold wall and gave off a somewhat bored yawn as she watched the blonde man shaking his leg at something. It got a bit more interesting when the blue haired, seemingly powerless girl who used nothing but guns actually charge one of the monsters, and bend it to her will. She then saw as the gem user... Kuro, the one Lexa would pay to be able to stab in the throat, that was battling one of the monsters herself. It seemed to be focused on her with an absolute passion, but she seemed to be handling herself appropriately. 'Crystal magic... I'll have to look into it.' she thought to herself, watching the girl as she used a blue and red crystal weapon to attack her opponent. Lexa then turned her gaze towards the dark mage, Gil, who belonged to Tartarus Guild. Although he wished to keep that secret, no doubt because of a certain crystal user who enjoyed arresting every damn thing that didn't agree with her. Lexa gave off another yawn, mostly because she was bored of watching the fight, and closed her eyes for a few minutes, deciding to give her brother, sister, and the bitch time to finish their play dates with the beasts. She re-ignited her circuits, bringing the lighting back up to normal levels in her area, but it'd still be quite dim over by the fighting group. To be honest, it was a bit tiring to have to keep her circuits up continuously, and Lexa would need to rest some time or another, but she refused to alert her allies to the fact that she wasn't an endless supply of light.

    such horrible things

The sound of Katerii's laughter only made Gil grit his teeth and shake his leg harder. However, the creature persisted much like the gunners teasing words. "And you're the only one who's gun looks more appealing than its owner." He grumbled, now trying to pry the shadow off with his hands to no avail. The idea of giving the creature attached to his leg to a certain someone was idiotic to say the least. If Gil were to give a gift to someone, he always made sure that it was a gift of only the finest quality. Not some pathetic little creature that he had chance encountered on a disastrous outing. "Like hell I'm giving you any money. Anyone can tame a beast." He rolled his eyes and finished his train of thought in his head,

"But only I can command them without such brutish techniques."

It was rather disgraceful watching Katerri "tame" the shadow creature. There was little to no class involved, it was simply holding on for dear life. Surely, the creature had no respect for her. Releasing his hold on the dying shadow creature he quickly took command of another healthier beast. This one was wolf like in nature and he made sure to put his previous beast out of its misery with this new one. By the time the wolf creature had chomped down the last bits of the injured shadow, his comrades appeared to have finished off the rest of them. With the exception of Katerii who was riding on hers. "Get off of that thing. You don't hold any true control over it. It'll turn on you and the rest of us the moment you get off of it." He called out, irritation thick in his voice. His own shadow creature sat unmoving, waiting for some sort of command that Gil had yet to give it. Glancing off to the light in the distance that was without a doubt Lexa, Gil could only huff. He wanted to get out of the desolate land as quickly as possible because the sooner they left the quicker he'd have the shadow off of his leg.

"We're wasting time. Let's get moving."

Kateri pulled up, riding her freshly acquired shadow beast, this one taking the visage of a lion with a horn on its face, right on top the bridge of its nose. "I was actually curious... about your probably lover that is... what's his name?" Kateri said with a cheeky grin on her face, taking too much pleasure in poking fun at her newly found... friend? He'd told Kateri to get off the beast, saying it'd turn on her and the rest of the group the moment she got off. She raised an eyebrow, "Look who's lookin' out for the team, didn't know you cared. No worries old man..." she said while shifting her leg over the beast and dropping to the ground. "... Remember, I have a right to rule as well." she said as she walked to the front of the large shadow-lion, referring to her being the heir of her tribe. Kateri spun around, looking at the shadow beast with her glacial-blue eyes glowing bright white in the darker light. The beast let out a grumbling sound and bend one leg under it, lowing its head to the ground until its nose kissed the dirt ever so gently. "See, even the shadowy king of beasts bows." she said, keeping eye contact as she walked back over to it. The monster got on the ground, allowing her to mount it once more. "I'm gonna keep this one... he's soft, cold, and very furry. I'll let you keep your boyfriends pet over there... it seems to like you." she said, pointing at the thing attached to Gil's leg. She turned the beasts head and gave a kick with her heels and the large creature began walking forwards, and would continue with the group acting as Kateri's mobile shooting platform.

Kuro was huffing and puffing by the time she returned to the group, all this combat was starting to become wearisome. Two shadow creatures remained but their was something off about them. One of them was the one in which Katerii had been riding none to gracefully earlier, and the other simply stood as if they were waiting for something. Her first instinct was to attack but neither of them were in anyway trying to provoke the Rune Knight, or turn their claws on her temporary allies. "Odd..."She couldn't wrap her brain around it, unable to hear the conversations that had taken place let alone see them it left Kuro thoroughly out of the loop. However, training under alchemists for so long had taught her at least one thing and that was to be able to deduce what was going on around her.

    "They tamed them?"

She tilted her head to the side, icy blue eyes widening in a strange sort of wonder. To think that the two mages had been able to make such mighty creatures bow to their will, it was rather astonishing. "I never knew such a thing was possible." It would certainly help Rune Knights and their cause. Instead of killing creatures gone wild they could just train and command them, it would be revolutionary really. There was one other creature that Kuro almost neglected to notice and that was of course they shadow attached to Gil's leg. Upon her blue eyes making contact with it, the shadow scurried over to the Rune Knight latching to her waist much like a child would. "What the!?" She flailed for a moment before realizing that the little shadow did not mean any harm but rather it seemed as if it was asking her for something...Strangely she could feel that the creature wanted protection, from what Kuro did not know but as a Rune Knight she was obligated to protect anything that was not necessarily evil, and this shadow seemed far from sinister.

Lexa continued waiting in the distance, keeping an eye on the other three while keeping her distance from... her... the non-family member. 'Would you rather just kill her and cut your loses, and liability?' Gabriel asked, sensing her disdain for the woman.'No. Unfortunately I need her alive... for now... if she becomes a danger I'll take her out as quickly as possible, she's got a spell that cancels magic out, but I don't know the extent of its power...' Lexa responded to the angel, both utilizing their telepathic bond with each other. Lexa went ahead and walked up to the group, keeping her circuits alight, sweating buckets all the meanwhile. Her breathing was heavy, and the circuits flickered, much like a dying light bulb, or one that didn't have quite enough power to keep alight. Her eyes became glossy as she finally approached them, her vision was blurred, unable to see the red jacket that her hand brushed against as her dimly lit body fell to the ground. A thud was produced as her body slammed on the cold, black floor and her circuits were barely glowing, as if it was the last few seconds of life on a yellow glow-stick. Her eyes were wide open, showing almost no signs of life, but soon fading to black when her lights finally went out, condemning her consciousness to the dark void along with her comrades who were now deprived of her seemingly everlasting light. The last thing she felt was the sensation of a shoe under her foot, but it wasn't the standard boots Kateri was wearing, and Gil was much too farr away. Lexa couldn't even get a sound out before the exhaustion took her, it wasn't magical exhaustion, but rather physical as she was using her own bodily stamina to keep the circuits alight.

I AM NOT A BAD KING

even though i do bad things

    VERY BAD THINGS

    such horrible things

Gil almost burst a vein at the mention of his lover's name. For some strange reason he couldn't help but think of Nai when his lover was refereed to as a "he" when his lover was most certainly a "she". Barely repressing the growl to his tone Gil managed to bite back a quip of his own, "He or she it does not matter I attract both genders but the same cannot be said for you." Katerii had mentioned something about ruling but this didn't get on his nerves as much, "Ah yes your right to a tiny clan. By all means rule that handful of forgotten people. I have my sights set on something much bigger." A kingdom worth bragging about, even Fiore if he had the chance.

Gil was hardly phased by the display of the woman's power over her own beast. It was the equivalent of a child trying to show their parent what they could do. Her little comment on the shadow attached to his leg was what finally phased him. He shook his leg once more trying to get the creature to detach itself, which strangely this time it did. Only the creature had jumped from him over to the quiet Rune Knight. "Finally." He rolled his catlike red eyes glad to have gotten rid of the pesky creature. A sudden flickering of light caught his attention, their light bulb seemed to have finally ran out of energy. The blonde female had collapsed out of what looked like exhaustion upon the boots of the Rune Knight. With the young woman's lights out both literally and metaphorically, it put the rest of the group in a bind. They were without light and it wasn't as if they could just leave their only light source on the ground.

    "I am not carrying her."

"I'd hope no-one was after my heart, I'd be obligated to disappoint them." Kateri said with a happy tone, overjoyed at the fact that she didn't have admirers as she walked over to the collapsed blonde. "I'm only six years old after all." she said, carrying the girl back to her own shadow beast and tossing her on its back. "As for that small clan... what you value is money, what that small clan has is power. The twelve tribes of balance, each guard one of 12 weapons..." Kateri said informatively before mounting her lion like shadow beast. "Have you heard of divide island? Do you want to know how it got split? It was one man using the power of one sword... and that same weapon goes wherever my father goes. If one were able to gather the twelve swords of the creator, and manage to make there way to a location known as 'The Gate' they could rule over creation as the king of gods..." she said, her words deep and gave off the fact that she knew exactly what she was talking about. "If you have any plans bigger than a petty, weak, glorified opulent house, then I advise pursuing it. Until then, I'll be keeping my birth-right to guard a power that would tear you, your pretty little pair of boots-to-be, and everything you know asunder." she said, her voice holding no emotion, not even a desire to kill the mage, but she did decide to reference towards the man's wyvern as she did in fact thing it would make an exquisite pair of boots. With that said, she turned her nose up to the blonde mage, not that he could see it, and patted her shadow lion, commanding it to move onward. Kateri didn't like sitting around in the dark, waiting for an enemy to crawl up her ass. She wanted to get somewhere safe, where she could make sure none of her allies, partners, or whatever that called themselves would be at risk.

    we've lost it all

    & i am just a silhouette, a lifeless face you'll soon forget

Lexa had approached not that Kuro could complain much seeing as she was the only source of light their group had. Yet their living light bulb seemed to be running out of energy. The slight flickering of her light made for an ominous scene as she approached looking utterly exhausted. Kuro have moved back slightly fearing that Lexa might mean her arm, her actions thus far had indicated nothing but pure hatred for the Rune Knight, but the attempt at attack never came. Instead a small hand brushed against the soft red fabric of Kuro's red coat, and a head of blonde hair rested upon Kuro's worn boots. Icy blue eyes watched in terror as the unconscious girls lights finally went out leaving the group in an eerie darkness. If it wasn't for the slight rise and fall of the girls head with somewhat uneven breaths Kuro would have thought that Lexa was dead.

For a moment it seemed as if no one was going to move to do anything about Lexa. Kuro couldn't see or hear the others at this point, the Rune Knight practically quivering in her boots. She couldn't hear the others and she couldn't see them to read their lips, she felt practically blind, and it was terrifying. Losing yet another sense was one of Kuro's greatest fears. The weight of Lexa's head was lifted off of her foot making Kuro jolt back slightly but it was only Katerii who was moving the robot like girl. It figures that the blonde male, the most physically suited for carrying Lexa, hardly moved a finger to aid her. Clearly, they couldn't wait around in the open waiting for Lexa to wake up. Still, Kuro found it rather difficult to get her feet moving to venture further in the darkness. Swallowing a bit of her pride, slipping back into the little girl that was still buried somewhere inside of her, she reached out her hand finding Kateri's arm. She held on for dear life, her hand shaking, but she needed a physical anchor to assure her that she was in fact not alone. Besides between Katerii and Gil, Katerii seemed like she wouldn't respond poorly.
