    Job:

So they were invited to a party because of their reputation. Elyx and Ignite were former Rising Stars, but that hardly meant anything to them. It seemed that it mattered to whoever sent the letter. If it were a party based on strong mages, then there must be more mages than just him an Ignite. A good hundred or two hundred might attend, like at the ball, where things went all over the place. Fortunately for him, he was not caught as a Neutral mage. Anyone who saw him at the party did not know, the only one who did was Venir. The thing was, Kai pressed on to find him a lady, and it's not like the violinist could attack the dream mage for trying to make Elyx do something so extreme. Fortunately, he was able to get out of there single and free He didn't want anyone, so hopefully this party would not be as extreme as the last one. But before he was able to do that, he would have to actually get there. And as usual, they would be traveling via walking. There was no other way for the both of them to travel, an unfortunate reality. But that buffed up their bodies, making them stronger and able to run much faster than before. Hopefully they would be able to get there without being tired. Then again, being tired was the least they had to be worried about. After all, they were going to the Cursed Lands, the place that provided hell for all sorts of people, mages included. Hopefully this would be a Dinner party, and nothing that would give them hell. Nimpha can't be called into the Cursed Lands either. Mainly due to the sound interference, and his hand whistle won't be able to escape. Hopefully he and Ignite didn't need her. The Violinist and the She Phoenix would exit from the Guild Hall and smile as they would then see the outside. The Sun was not too bright, as usual. But by this point in time, they were well aware of that coming up. So instead of paying any mind to it, they would just continue walking out of the Guild Hall before reaching the borders of the Neutral Lands. Crossing them made him no longer in his territory, but in the free territory that belong to no one. No one claimed it yet, so anyone can do anything. They would then begin walking towards the Cursed Lands. It might take them a while on walking, but that was all they had. No bodies of water to carry them with a boat either, and they had no vehicle either. To complain about it though was a bit hypocritical though, they never really did go anywhere with a machine. They may have gone on their boat a bit, but Elyx had a fear of water, so he did not enjoy that ride too much either. So the next best thing to do was walk. Then again, they could fly with Cassie, but in case they needed to defend themselves, they would need to have her ready for a surprise attack, or possibly a bail if bad becomes worse. But best case scenario says that they don't even need to fight.

Post by Ardere Kasai 2nd January 2016, 6:30 pm

    I am the fire
    I am burning brighter
    Roaring like a storm
And I am the one I've been waiting for
    Screaming like a siren
    Alive and burning brighter

Staring deeply at the words printed upon the parchment, Ardere could not help but notice how attractive the letter itself was. It had obviously been handwritten, and even signed Sombra. While he knew that family had not been around in a while, someone was obviously using their name. He had heard of the mansion, but only in whispers. Whoever the inhabitants of this mansion were, they had been interested in strong mages. They asked for the strongest in Infinity Hydra, but rather than sending his ace Haretsa, he chose to go for this one himself. It was not because he thought himself stronger than her, but he was genuinely intrigued as to who actually sent this letter. Lightning crackling across the sky distracted him from the letter, and prompted the fire mage to raise his aircraft higher into the sky to avoid the storm. He was traveling deep into the Cursed Lands, a place even mages of high ranks hated to go. His ship could take the storm, but the rattling was certainly unsettling. Over the forests of death and darkness, he imagined storms such as this occurred on a weekly if not daily basis in some areas. It was an unnatural area, one he wished he did not have to go, but did not harbor any fear towards. Taking a deep breath, he slid the letter in between the plates of his armor. While it was a dinner party, he had no wish to arrive without his battle gear and be ambushed. As such, he wore a suit over the armor, but spread the leather and wood plates. Fortunately his armor was leather, and thin. As such it did not make him appear bulkier. While he had no reliance on it, it was a Samurai tradition.

Ya know, you didn't have to come. Addressing his phoenix, she was in her human form by the window. In her metal armor and red dress, she stared off into the storm. a smile crossing her lips, she turned to him with a sassy response. Oh, and let you have all the fun? I think not. I'm going whether you like it or not. Letting a heavy sigh escape his lips, Ardere grabbed his sword. But of course. Sliding it across his back, it was a bit weird to wear a suit while having his sword, but he did not go anywhere without it, even parties. Growing closer to their destination, he could see the large mountain with the Mansion atop. It was quite the view, and would envelop his field of vision as they descended. The Black Sun was a sturdy ship, and had made it through the storm successfully, but he still had some worry about the situation. Preparing himself, it was almost time for the party. It's almost time old friend. He had his phoenix were both dressed for the occasion, but did not forget any of their battle  gear. The journey had been a long and treacherous one through the storm, but they had made it. The Mansion was upon them, and soon they would be guests.

Vincent had plans to replace his magic altogether. Though it served effective, it represented the one thing that he hated the most. Lerales, the tribe that he was born in, and the same one that tried to murder him, but not before forcing him to suffer as he watched his former lover tortured. Such cruel thoughts, and he was using the same weapons as they were. That shamed him heavily, but these thought he kept to himself. Not even willing to share them with Ignite, not just yet. The first person he should tell was his teacher, Nimpha Yukino. She was able to make magic from scratch, she was that brilliant a mage. He could request any form of magic from her and she would give it to him. It was probably for the best that he did this as well, his magic was slowly becoming more and more outranked by the second, and with the current world that they lived in right now, he would need all of the power he could get, and that was what he lacked heavily in. Though Lerale magic trained him in accuracy, flexibility, and the able to analyze and solve problems as well as adapt with any speed in battle, he was going to need way more. And that was where he had a plan, why not try to use his swordplay? With just one blade, he could null many forms of magic and still be able to adapt in battle. He'd even have a free hand to use as well, and that was just beyond useful since he needed to be able to use items as well as possibly even dual wield. But mastering one blade came first. So that was what he planned to do with this job. Ignite can back him up when he was having trouble. For now though, they needed to hit the manor before they could even talk about having a new magic. Survive first, then they would be able to fight with new abilities and spells later. Oh man, he could just imagine what they could do. The boy would smile with such a thought, a blade that is able to cut through magic like it was nothing, nulling it to nothing. A flinch ability, so that he could string combos without the fear of being blocked or dodged, and most importantly, countered with a spell. That was what it could be, instead of his Caster seal magic, he could just have a Magic seal sort of thing. Well, maybe not completely. Though he did like to lock things down, he also did like to have his wind. Wind Lerale magic was terrible for him, but Wind magic was nice. It did not need to be in any form or shape, and he could control it easily since he would be a Caster mage instead of a Holder one. This also gave him one more space for him to fight with, since now Holder magic based on locking down Casters would be useless.

Tightening the leather straps across his bracers, the armor beneath his suit needed to be tight. Ardere slid his sleeves right over it, and proceeded to take a step outside of the cockpit or cabin. Taking in a deep breath of the air, it was almost stale. There was no stench of death like he expected, but there was a cool wind. The house atop the mountains appeared to be lit up. He did not spot any ships or cars, or any vehicles for that matter. If this was not a trap, then he just so happened to be the first one to arrive. Looks like we're early Celica. The phoenix woman stretched her arms before sliding past him and observing the mansion. It would seem so. Quite the big place don't ya think? Nodding, the fire mage allowed his battle partner to descend the ladder down the side of the Black Sun, before descending himself. He did not look around to see if there were any enemies lying in wait, he could smell all he needed to. They were far enough from the Lycan Woods as to not draw any attention from the wolves. It was strange to say, but they were in the most deserted place in the Curse Lands, and that was certainly a bold statement. Stretching his arms as well, the two began their ascent up the stairs that trailed alongside the mountain. Parking right in front of the house was a good way to draw attention, and that was not his aim. As the first guest, he wished to make his appearance a subtle one. Perhaps he could gain some intelligence as to why they were summoned here, and who else might have been summoned as well. He expected top mages from each guild; Heero, Shuhei, Elyx, maybe even Hikari. But how many of them would show up? They surely must have expected a trap. His instincts told him the only people coming tonight were the curious.

Arriving at the top of the mountain, he and his phoenix in her elegant human form stood in front of the massive mansion. Hell of a place. Observing the architecture and the condition of the building, it was surprisingly well kept for being all the way out here. Ardere slid a pale hand through his thick brown locks before turning to his partner. The two had been friends a long time, but there was surely to be a debate of who should knock. There was no doorbell, just a large set of handles on the door, presumably to knock. They were golden, but skulls rather than lions like most. Placing his right hand upon his hip, the guild master focused his orange orbs on her. She seemed to ignore his gaze, obviously intent on making him do it. A sigh escaping his pale lips, he walked up to the door. Grabbing one of the handles, he lightly smacked it against the door. Knocking three times as per usual, he took a step back. The two waited, and a few moments passed but no one answered. I guess no one's ho- With a slight creak, the door opened itself. Widening his eyes a bit, he could smell nothing coming from inside. Hear nothing. It was a pure silence and mystery. Hesitant, he stepped forward a bit. Shall we? It was time to enter the manor, whether he liked it or not.

And so they would arrive, just in time for their dinner as well. It was quite a manor to say the least... Anyone want their invitation? Regardless, they had a job and would be rewarded well for taking this job. So with a nod, the both of them would enter through the doors before seeing not many other mages there actually. In fact, there only seemed to be two hanging around right now. Were they early to the party? Well, if that were the case, they might as well have brought something other than chocolate and water in Elyx's knapsack. Man, this place looks and feels so dead. Are we sure this is supposed to be a party? I personally expected something a little more... Lively. The She Phoenix would comment. There was a right and a wrong with the statements she emitted from her lips. The Violinist would tilt his head to the side as he might be looking incorrectly, but no difference was made. Well Ignite, Dinner Parties are supposed to be formal. Which is why things are quiet... I think. How was the trip on your feet? Sorry that I had no other way of transportation, I've heard from many woman about heels being so uncomfortable. Elyx would explain before then being concerned for Ignite. However, she would just give him a friend grin, her whites showing before she twisted her leg so that he could see her left foot under her dress. As if that were to explain something, but then she would continue on. Nah, these things are nothing I can't handle. They take a little more strength than average shoes, but these are nothing too hard to control.

And with that, the both of them would walk forward to meet with the other guests at the party, the two others ones one might add. There was one that was familiar, to Elyx at least. But half the story was revealed from behind, so he was not going to make public assumptions yet. Besides, he had scolded Ignite many times for the times she made assumptions, and if he were to do the same exact thing... Wow... So many errors and bridges to be burnt down. Almost literally if the She Phoenix laughed too hard. Finally, the both of them would approach the man and woman from behind. Hello there, I assume you both are guests at this place as well. Strong and recognized mages, so I hope you don't mind me asking for your names. He would explain before flicking a speak of his hair between his eyes to the side, suddenly becoming a perfectionist when it comes to his appearance. Ignite would then help him, and surprisingly enough, not mess up with the assist either. The name of this guy is Elyx Reiaki. My name is Ignite Rosella, and we are both mages from the infamous Black Rose. As for the both of you? Like he said, what might your names be? A Well done performance by the She Phoenix. He could not be prouder.

Entering the house, a cool breeze flushed past Ardere's clothing. His suit fluttered, as did Celica's dress. The two exchanging looks, the house was clearly well kept. It was is if an actual party was occurring here, and not some haunted mansion scenario he had concocted in his head. The two looked around the room, the fire mage looking at the books and such. He would continue to search with his phoenix partner until he came upon the dining room, there was an elegant table fully set with silverware and food. Arching a brow, he was curious as to what exactly was going on here. Celica, you might wanna see this. The phoenix turned human rushed over, and placed a hand on her hip. The two observed the table, him noticing the steam coming from the food as if it had just been prepared. Well, isn't this odd? Nodding, his teeth sunk into his lower lip Yeah, quite. He was unsure of what exactly was going on here, but it was apparent they were not alone in this house. For several minutes he could not smell any scent other than Celica's, and that of some mice in the rafters. It was odd, there should have at least been a butler of sorts. Tapping his finger to his chin, he refined his senses. The magical presence in this house was powerful, and it was becoming quite obvious there was some devious magic at work here. Taking a deep breath, his hand slid over the grip of his sword. Staying at the ready, his phoenix tightened her fists. Then, a new smell would cross their paths. It was a familiar scent, but he could not place it until the door had been opened. And a voice rang out from behind. Turning around to greet the newcomers, he found they were mages invited here as well.

Ah, Elyx. Nice to see someone I've actually met before. And hello Ignite, I don't believe we've met, I'm Ardere. This is Celica. Shaking hands with the two, the fire mage ran his fingers between his hair and the red headband through his brown locks. The phoenix gave a half-hearted wave. It's a pleasure. I see I'm not the only bird of prey here tonight. She was not the most social, but she could recognize one of her own kind when they appeared. Being stuck with a human for so long would seem horrible, but she had come to love her partner. They were close friends. The guild master slid his hands into his pocket. Touching his sword would not be appropriate when friends were nearby. Pacing around a bit, he still did not see anyone. The group was in the living room now, with well kept furniture, soft to the touch. I assume you were invited as well. Haven't seen anyone so far, but I guess we should wait a bit before going off and adventuring. Plopping down into one of the chairs, he felt a slight chill go up his spine. Folding one leg over the other, he did not show any signs of fear. Sitting down, the phoenix toyed with one of the nearby books. It appeared the group was slightly bored in a what was likely haunted house, if they showed anything about their character. Hopefully Elyx and Ignite would have something to talk about, they did have a bit of catching up to do seeing as the two had been on a mission together before. The King of Fighters was not some easy random mission, it had been quite the perilous one. The two were not friends, but forming that bond was not out of the question seeing as they were allies.

And just like that, he would then recognize the guy to be a former ally in a battle. Guild master of the legal guild, Infinity Hydra, who more or less had the same goals as Black Rose. No doubt he would be noticed, Guild Masters tend to have quite the reputations. It was no surprise for him to be here, yet at the same time, he couldn't help but admit to a bit of his surprise. Could one blame him? Take his title away and it would still be the same Ardere he knew before, he did not like to let titles change his view of other people, and he especially hated his title being known as the reason why he gets respect. Sure, he might give orders, but that didn't mean he should not be recognized for who he was. That may have been another reason why he came to the party, since no one would see him as an Ace, but a person, a fellow mage rather. Yup, seems you got the invite as well. Welcome to the show... When more arrive onto the scene at least. He would comment before placing the back of his hand behind his head. Ignite however seemed to be in a different state, her light orange eyes noticing Celica's being instantly. It was something they shared. The exact Bird of Prey as well. Glad to know I'm not the only one. Nice to meet you. Less formal, but more formal than she usually was. The She Phoenix tried placing her hands in the pockets that were not there, and once she realized that, she sighed before crossing her arms under her chest. From there, Ardere's greeting would finally process in her mind. Nice to meet you as well Ardere. I watched you and this idiot here fight in the tournament. She would explain before pointing to Elyx, who quickly but softly pushed her hand back down.

Waiting for the owner would be a good idea, I see where you come from. But are you sure there was no note or anything when you arrived? The Violinist would ask, tilting his head to the side and placing his hands in his pockets. Already Ignite was getting jealous, and she even considered wearing a Tuxedo next time. But once the thought of her in one of those occurred, she was quick to change her mind by violently shaking her head from side to side. Instead, she would let out a little sigh from her mouth before looking at her palms, summoning a small flame on each hand before molding it like taffy. Being able to create her own playdoh was rather convenient. It was what she normally used when she was bored. Then again, the She Phoenix was an extreme character, she loved to spread her flames and punish opponents. Sometimes, for the sake of others, she needed to be bored so that others can live. I wonder when the host himself will be hear at least, this is getting boring...

Corpse Party... And Dinner (Ardere/Job) Empty Re: Corpse Party... And Dinner (Ardere/Job)

Post by Ardere Kasai 8th January 2016, 9:31 pm

    I am the fire
    I am burning brighter
    Roaring like a storm
And I am the one I've been waiting for
    Screaming like a siren
    Alive and burning brighter

Letting a slight sigh escape his pale lips, Ardere tapped his leather covered fingers against his knee. Nope, no note or anything. All of the lights were on and the door kind of let us in, so either the place is haunted or we have some mischievous hosts. While he was conversing with the Black Rose mage, his phoenix partner was looking through some of the old books on the table. Dark tales, from long ago. They weren't very dusty, implying someone kept up with them. They were not alone, and both mages could feel it. He had no doubt that Elyx and Ignite could feel it either, but what were they to do? Letting out a heavy breath, he tapped his fingers against his knee for a few more moments. We'll just wait a few minutes I suppose The next few minutes seemed to pass slowly, feeling like almost triple of the time it actually was. There was little conversation, but something caught the god slayer's ear. Foot steps on one of the upper floors. Tap. Tap. Tap. They were light steps, but with his slayer senses he could easily hear them. It seemed even his partner could hear them, both exchanging strange looks. Arching a brow, he stood up. Gripping Clarent tight, the crimson blade stayed in his hands. Looking around, he did not see anything nearby, but he could feel a magical presence. What do you think it is? Looking down the hall, the fire mage gritted his teeth during his observation. Well, I imagine some one or thing is on the next level. Shall we investigate? Turning his attention to the other phoenix and her accomplice. He assumed the two would love something to do other than sitting around, so he asked.

Assuming the answer as affirmative and not negative, Ardere began to make his way down the hall and towards a set of spiraling stairs. Quite the place. The phoenix warrior looked around, and her master would to the same. The god slayer attempting to catch a scent, could get nothing, nor could he hear anything. Running his fingers across the railing, he began the ascent upstairs. A cool wind seemed to hit his body. Being a flame elemental it did not bother him much, but his friend would shiver a bit. There was some sort of strange force at work here, prompting him to draw his sword, but it was not upon them just yet. At the top of the first section of stairs, he could see the entire hall, all the way to the living room and dining room. It was quite the large estate, even just so far. He hated to imagine the kind of excavation they would have to go through to find someone in here. Hello? Is anyone here? Calling out to the house, he heard nothing for a moment. Then, he could hear the wind rushing through the halls. Well, at least it answered. Giving a 'not so amused' look to his friend, the two waited for their fellow guests to join them and make their own inquiries.

I would like to hope that it was the latter, and not the former. Elyx would explain before placing his Violin from his knapsack behind his back. Despite him having to dress formally, he could not help it. Though it may have ruined his look a little bit, he wanted to be very prepared for the job and in case he needed to fight. Ardere was not going to be his opponent, but if anything, an ally. They did not truly know each other, it was not like some sort of show where two fighters get along as friends just because they fought together one time. That was like saying two guilds made an alliance forever since they fought side by side against Savage Skull one time.

They would wait for a while in some awkward silence. Ignite was clearly not being too patient about it either, and for one, Elyx could not blame her for it either. Admittedly, the silence was kind of chilling to him. Silence seemed to make anyone lose it after a few seconds. That was how the human was designed, to be used to the noise all around them so that they would not go insane. The boy did not know how to explain it, so when Ardere finally cut off the silence with an offer to investigate, the both of them would answer in quick unison. Synchronization, the true power of the both of them it seemed. Yes! We should! They would reply back before they looked at each other, both of their eyes wide open before looking back to the other two.

And so their travels would begin. A weird way to start things off was a flow of wind after Ardere called out to the owner most likely. Keeping his Violin ready, his eyes would shift left to right at a quick pace. There was a presence of magic around here, his magic senses were extremely sharp. They were about to meet something that they did not want to soon. Enough. And there it was, a scream all of a sudden followed by a huge click. It felt like something was slammed. Is someone messing with us? Should we go over there and investigate? The doors are right there, but if we leave without any information to extract... He would explain, reminded them of why they were even here in the first place.

From there, he would then turn around before looking forward once again. Ignite got to jump the gun quickly before anyone else could answer. Screw that! We are on a job, and this might be a chance to beat down some intruders! We can not have them ruining out fun, now can we? I say we pursue towards the voices! She would explain before putting both of her hands out, two balls of flames revealed, one per hand. With that, he would continue walking, now very much excited for what was next to come. Elyx could only follow her, and he himself was not too excited.

    Screaming like a siren

Standing atop the first bit of stairs, Ardere scanned the hall once more before moving from his position. There was nothing in the room, at least not from what he could tell. The only place to go from here was into the hallways, but they had to make a choice; right or left? Tapping his foot slightly, the fire mage turned to his partner. Right or left? The phoenix waited for their companions to join them, and scanned both sides. They both looked the same, so there was no indication as to which one would lead them where they wanted to go, but the majority of the breeze seemed to come from the left. And as such, that was where they would go. Always asking me to make decision for you. Left. A smirk crossing her lips, the guild master rolled his eyes a bit before making his way up the rest of the stairs. It was a gorgeous house, even with all of the creepy feelings he was getting. The paintings were obviously quite old, but very well kept. They appeared to be family members, ones who had owned the house previously. The walls littered with paintings and tapestries, it reminded him of a more Western version of his guild hall, in that sense. The suits of armor randomly along the wall were that of knights. The armor was not shiny anymore, as expected with age, but it did still look usable. Running his fingers along one of the silver suits, it felt very cold to the touch. While he did that, Celica looked around the hallway. There were dozens of doors, leading to rooms he imagined that suited many purposes. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Perhaps who or whatever invited us here will find us before we find them, and I don't look forward to that possibility.

Opening one or two doors, they were strangely cold. The rooms were empty, just with a bed, nightstand, and many other average bedroom items. Nothing to see here. Check some of the rooms Elyx and Ignite, perhaps we can find some sort of clue. Or stir up something. There was not much they could do but investigate, however he could feel something moving towards them. At first it felt like another breeze would come, but the magical presence he had felt before was getting closer. But before whatever presence was coming towards them, he heard the turning of gears. Cranking and shifting, he quickly pulled Celica out of the way. Watch out! A trap was springing, he was not sure what kind but he could hear the gears within the floors moving. They must have stepped on a pressure plate or tripped some sort of thing wire. This house was perhaps more dangerous than he had thought, possessing both magic and a trap of sorts. Hopefully the Black Rose mage and his She-Phoenix would be able to get out of the way in time as well, for they had turned out to be pretty decent people. There seemed to be more to this mansion than meets the eye, or any other sense for that matter.

They would nod as they were given the command, ready to check out the rooms. However, before they were given the chance to even attempt that, there was a clicking sound below them. The click became clicks, and those clicks ended up being faster and faster before eventually, Elyx was able to figure out what was going on. There was no way to prove how it happened, but there it was regardless. Ignite! Careful! The boy would exclaim towards the She Phoenix, and from there, he would push the She Phoenix out of the way. It seemed the trap theory was correct, for the floors did not act naturally. They avoided a close call there, but now he then realized the problem. There might have been some sort of wire that they triggered or whatever, or maybe they might have triggered something else. Like the very ghouls that were now after them, or Elyx and Ignite rather. They were split into two groups on opposite sides. The ones that Elyx had to face did not look like much, but they were ghouls, that was the whole point. They were to not look intimidating. They just simply seemed like mages, spirit ones in fact. One put his palm forward towards the She Phoenix before firing a chain of fire from his palm. From there, Ignite would place her own palm forward to stop the flame, being a master of the flame, she is able to control flames easily. That was was not a problem. Not only did she stop the flame, but she returned it back with double the damage since she added her own fire, and from there, the first of the three ghouls were knocked out of commission. They were not dead, since, well, you can not really kill what is dead already. But that mage did not seem like he would be returning for this battle session anytime soon, so that was a good thing.

The second and third one aimed to attack them in unity, which would buff up their attack power even further. However, they would only make it worse for themselves, they would exhaust energy onto a Lerale magician. The boy would place his Violin up as they charged to him, yowling in the process to add intimidation. Elyx remained in place before they came, then he'd quick dodge towards the side before slicing his bow on the string on time to launch spiking winds towards them. They took the hit, but did not fall, they just flinched. A rank damage, it would take a bit more than that to take them down. Good thing he had the wind, and as he continued to play, the wind would begin it's brutal assault onto the ghouls before holding them up into the air. Wind Lerale Air Lock, it seems to affect even ghouls, and that was a good thing too, they did not need to dance any more than they already have. They took care of a trio of ghouls, and they would then turn their attention to the other two of the party on their side.

The floor began to shift and move, as if it were expanding. Uh oh. What the.. Regaining his balance, Ardere turned to his phoenix companion as the hall began to grow. Stretching and winding, it seemed as if the hallway had become never-ending. He had never seen a trap such as this, an endless hallway. It was odd to think about, but unfortunately he did not have much time for thinking. Ghouls began to descend upon them, coming in groups. Three of them went towards the Black Rose mage and his companion, while five others went for Celica and the fire mage. Turning their attention to the ghouls facing them, they did not have much time to worry about their friends. What a lovely bunch. These ghouls were not normal ghouls, but rather very human-like. They seemed to retain even the most detailed traits of their former selves, and apparently even their magic. Vines began to wind up towards them throughout the floor, twisting and growing thorns. Blasts of magic came their way, but they were prepared for it. Rolling to two doorways, they narrowly avoided the magical attacks. Unfortunately, the vines were still coming their way. It seems the Coward's Blade will come in handy a bit more than I expected for a dinner party. Sliding back out into the open, the red bastard sword known as Clarent would glow red with heat as it began to rise in temperate. The blade was hot enough to slice right through the hordes of vines with ease, slash after slash. He went diagonally, using his kendo style of fighting. After making it through the vines, his phoenix burst through them, returning to her phoenix form for a moment to rake her wings and claws across their sides. Putting her on the other side of Ardere, they had them cornered.

The guild master gripped the handle of his blade tightly, before slashing through a magical attack. He had been unsure if his blade would pierce the ghouls, but it was the brother sword of Excalibur, being a legendary sword after all. He sliced right through one of them, causing it to dissipate. While doing so, his partner turned back into her human form to lay into them with a series of armored strikes. She was a powerful hand to hand combatant, being older than the country of Fiore she had picked up a few tricks. What a pain. After finishing off the ghoul she was fighting, she turned to see the fire mage slash right through another, and then another. His searing hot blade cut through them like a knife through butter, taking a mere two hits to stop them. They were quick, but he was quicker. Teaming up, the two laid out a tag-team strike into the final ghoul. It had taken only a minute, but the group had been defeated. However the souls seemed to return to the house, rather than moving upwards like he had expected. There was no blinding light, and they did not screech in pain. The ghouls merely seemed to vanish, and sink back into the house. If I didn't know any better, I'd say what we just experienced was not a set of rogue ghouls. Someone had to be controlling them. But let's get moving, every hallway has a way out, even one that appears endless. Still holding the searing hot blade, he rejoined the group and began walking down the hall, looking for an exit.

Well, how about we go back from where we came from? Go back the direction that we entered through, we can guarantee that there was an exit there, right? As opposed to whatever bull that other end of the hallway, provides, right? The boy would ask him before placing his hands in his Tuxedo pockets. Ignite just walked through the other direction anyways, shrugging in the meantime. From that point, Elyx then figured out something. To go back towards the way they came through would be nothing for them in the end. As of right now, they could use the extra jewels, so they were going to need to beat this and the following ghouls to come. So instead of speaking further, he would follow Ignite towards that direction. Fortunately for the lot of them, not much danger would show if this were seemingly endless. With their speeds, they can outrun the enemies. If they decided to engage with the enemy in combat, they have unlimited dodging space to use to their advantage. He was not sure if the beasts of the house knew to use that strategy, but so far, they did not cope well with it, so it was safe to say they were not the brightest thinkers. A smile on his face would emit as he thought of their previous attempts, they took a lot of force to eliminate, yet within just a few seconds, the lot of them were able to destroy the enemies. Maybe it was them being strong, and not the enemies being weak and stupid. Hopefully it was both. Then again, what did they have to prove? To pride on the fact that they beat something and have to brag about it does not make one worth mentioning. It was near arrogance, though not quite. It also felt just as nasty, so he refused to let that arrogance into his heart.

Instead, he would just continue walking along with them through the hallways that seemed endless. Same sights and all of that crap, Elyx could feel himself drifting to sleep. But sleeping at the manor was just asking to die, one should no sleep in such a situation. Knowing that there was probably someone out there like Ardere had suggested should keep one on their guard. It was just very tempting to sleep, it was the nighttime and he had nothing better to do. Playing the Violin when it was not needed was merely suicide for them, bringing all of the monsters towards their direction. Maybe they could handle them, but the more they fight, the more energy they use on useless things. The source was not going to be like them, that was a guarantee. So the group of them had to be ready when that time comes. Entertainment was lacking, but safety was priority. Then again... If he played his Violin, would the master of the house come out of curiosity? I have a small idea... Couldn't the owner want to meet us face to face? What if he heard Violin later on to lure him. We might have to fight a few monsters in the process, and a lot more rather, but the more we take down, the less he has to work with until eventually, he comes to us. Quick, sketchy thoughts really.

    I am the fire
    I am burning brighter
    Roaring like a storm
And I am the one I've been waiting for
    Screaming like a siren
    Alive and burning brighter

Walking down the hall with his companions, Ardere looked in all directions. It truly appeared to be an endless hallway, perhaps from some sort of spell or curse. There was only one way to break an enchantment, and that was to overpower it or find the source. Unfortunately they did not have the time to be searching around an endless hallway for whatever was causing this, he had to take a more fiery approach. That's a good idea, and normally I'd be behind it. But whoever is doing this is smart, they're lying in wait. There's likely no way to draw them out, unless we take something from them. Stepping in front of the group, he held his arm out. The glowing red hot sword almost touching the wall, he hoped they would stop to allow him to continue. Allow me to try something. Fully stepping out in front of the group, the fire mage grabbed his sword with both hands. Flame God's Infernal Swipe. Swiping it horizontally, he sent a gargantuan arc of scorching black flames throughout the hall. It would blast through a large portion of the hall, scorching the walls black and causing them to corrupt. The paintings turned black, before shriveling up into a useless husk of what they once were. The potted plants died, their pots turning to dust. But the strange thing was, nothing else seemed to happen. And then, the floor would begin to shake and gears began to turn. A loud screeching resounded throughout the hallway, as did another gust of wind. Whatever he had caused, it appeared to break the enchantment on the hallway. Bits of the hallway began to shift and break apart until they reformed to create a doorway. All of the damage he had done to the hall was corrected, and there was only one thing before them, a door.

Shall we? If we don't find him or her soon, we'll try your idea Elyx. Still holding his sword tightly, it had been a bit disorienting for the enchantment to break, and change the hall as it did. Rubbing her temples, Celica whacked him on the back for his actions. Be more careful next time. You could have ruined my new dress. Scoffing at him, he just chuckled at her. Allowing her to pass through the door, he would look back. At the end of the hall, he could spot figures. The cool gust of wind and howling of the night was now bringing back the ghouls. Uh oh, get through the door now. Helping Elyx and Ignite through the door if they wished, he would allow them to go through. If everyone went through the door, the guild master of Infinity Hydra would slam the door closed. It would likely not stop the ghouls for long, but at least they could get to safety easier. And then, he realized what room they had entered. A hall of mirrors. Hundreds of mirrors lining the wall, he could hear the ghouls behind the door. They were coming, and they would not stop. But what lied in wait here in the hall of mirrors? He had never seen such a hall in a family mansion before. Who truly lived here? This place was full of mysteries, ones he was sure to figure out.

Post by King Elyx 11th January 2016, 3:40 pm

They had just done what Ard wanted them to do, but Ignite took one extra step before everything went according to plan. The flames that the fire mage had left, the She Phoenix decided to recycle. Since they were of the same ranking, she was able to control his fire magic, since she was a fire based fighter as well. Using her Flame control ability, she would store Ards fire into her body for later use. To do this, she would place the flames into her body via eating, which she liked to do anyways. Placing the flames in her mouth, she had them stored. However, she was not a slayer, it was not like she would gain anything. Just a bit of weight and some more magic to use. Her appearance was elegant and her body always stayed thin somehow. From there, she would chuckle a little bit when the other Phoenix complained about her dress. Your partner is also an asshole to you too? Elyx is such a prick as well, there are times where I want to give him a nice hard smack to the face. You're not alone. The She Phoenix would explain before smiling and then they would continue.

Once the door was then closed behind them, the enemies would appear. A few ghouls of more dead spirit mages came for them. Five of them this time, but they all looked weaker. Ignite would be the first to released her wrath on the enemies, placing her right hand into a fist before releasing her magic as well as Ard's to create an area attack of fire. This would create a huge S rank wave to hit all of the ghouls. Elyx himself was rather impressed with her newly found power, ignorant to the fact that she grabbed Ard's fire for herself. His Violin was up while the fire was still there, playing it quickly to spin the wind. This would create a fire tornado, once again using Ard's fire as well as Ignite's. Mixing them with his own magic would create an S ranked attack and a half on the ghouls, keeping them from continuing any further in the battle. It was over before it even began, they were trapped in the fire tornado, and it will keep on spinning for a while. If they were not dead by then, the ghouls probably would be heavily injured. Regardless, they were going to be there for a while, and he did not expect their partners to slouch and get beaten, but take care of the enemies so quickly that the tornado will still go on and the ghouls will see nothing in the room, because the group escaped. At least, that was the hope.

In the meantime, the both of them would look back to see how the other two are doing with their opponents. With clever thinking, they got rid of a few enemies within just a few seconds. Lets see if their partners could do the same, Elyx and Ignite had no doubts due to the last experience in a battle.

Post by Ardere Kasai 11th January 2016, 5:50 pm

    I am the fire
    I am burning brighter
    Roaring like a storm
And I am the one I've been waiting for
    Screaming like a siren
    Alive and burning brighter

The ghouls were bursting through the all, ready to attack the group of mages. Ardere clutched the handle of Clarent tightly, while moving back with his phoenix partner. It appeared the two independent mages would take on the horde of ghouls, for something else was in this room. He could feel another magical presence, as he turned to face one of the mirrors. Peering back at him was his own reflection, as expected. But something was off about his reflection, while he kept a stoic face, the reflection was smiling. Celica...get back. The phoenix was confused by his request, what was wrong? All she saw was his reflection, but then she saw it. The man smiling back in the mirror, holding a darker version of his legendary blade. And then, it began. Leaping from the reflective surface, this entity the fire mage was encountering began furiously slashing at him with his blade. The two blades clashed, and not one overpowered the other. They were on equal terms. Unfortunately for the demon, this was not the first time he had encountered a clone of himself. He could feel the dark energy emanating from the begin, quite obviously a demon. The phoenix could feel it too, and went in for a strike. Without thinking, the demon smacked her away with such force, it prompted an angered reaction from the real Ardere. Fist covered in flame, he drove it into the chest of his enemy. Flame God's Crash! Black thick flames swirling, he brought the demon right into a set of mirrors, cracking them. Within seconds the mirrors were obliterated, surely a thousand years of bad luck for the mage. Flames surging around the two, it's skin began to crack slightly. You'll pay for hurting my friend.

The phoenix warrior regaining her strength, began to stand back up. Her arms and legs then burst into flames, as she entered her battle mode. If they wanted a fight, they were going to get one. Kick his ass. Sliding over to the other two mages who were finishing up their fight, this one had only just begun. The fire king was forced to use tactics he would not normally use, and lay out a barrage of punches and strikes with absolutely no rhythm or style. The demon appeared confused, probably unaware that the man it had chosen to face knew himself better than anyone. Hissing and clawing at him, the mirror demon sprung forth a series of traps to deal with the other mages while he continued his fight. The two Black Rose wizards and Celica would have something unique to deal with, or so it seemed.Sliding across the ground, his blade was still searing hot. A bit of blood running down his cheek, the samurai began to take a serious fighting stance. Dashing towards the demon, he slashed right through his defenses. Cracking the skin on the beast, it began to crack and disappear. In a flash of blinding light, the true nature of the beast was revealed, as one with wings and feathers. It was almost like a dark knight, but much more beastly. It's massive wingspan spreading across the mirrors, it stared into the eyes of it's opponent, battered and ready to finish this. The fire mage gritting his teeth, was also prepared to finish this. So that's what you really look like. Dashing towards him, the glowing red sword would clash with a glowing blue one. Hopefully the other mages could handle their traps, while he handled this demon. It was much stronger than the ghouls they had faced before, but he was far from being beaten by a mere devil.

It was definitely for the boy to jump in and finish the battle, seeing Ardere going down in such a clash. His opponent seemed to be a lot rougher. However, he would not be given the chance to do that. It was an unfortunate result, but Ignite had the right idea. She would grip his right wrist before shaking her head from side to side. It was the fact that she was able to communicate silently with him, a trait that they spent months to learn and master, and the answer was then very obvious. Still though, to make perfect sense since the silent talk was not 100% true, she would then talk to him to explain why it would not be such a bright idea. Elyx, remember that moment when you wanted me to fight against the Sun Mages? It was a battle that I wanted to win so badly, I wanted them beaten and for them to learn their lesson. I wanted to do it myself, so you held back since you knew this. So would you let Ardere do the same? Look at him... He does not look happy with his opponent. And despite us possibly being able to give him some assistance, would it feel satisfying to him? Would it feel like he took care of the enemy? Or did a random ally of his just jump in to help... The She Phoenix would explain, and just like he thought, she was way brighter than he expected. She never failed to amaze him with her intellect.

From there, they would end up seeing a few sudden enemies from the Knight Stands. What the hell happened? Whatever did happen, they had some enemies to take care of. Violin at hand, he would back up as the knights came towards them, he needed space to put them in an air lock. That, and they needed to be together so that he could strike them all at once. Ignite helped with the first part, placing a wall of fire in front of them to prevent them from going any further. With that, she would then raise it, making sure they can not even see the group. However, Elyx is unable to see through the wall of fire either. It would just be a better idea to let the fire remain as is. But there was no time to complain, while they were together, he could put them in the Air Lock. Playing the Violin quickly, the remaining air would spin Violently behind the wall of fire that was where the knights would be located. From there, the air would quickly build itself from the bottom to the top, until eventually, it would surround the enemies in a bubble of spinning air. A violently one. The firewall would the begin to go down, and just like he had hoped, they were all trapped in his locking spell. It was a success... Hopefully Ard had won his battle in the meantime though....

Spiraling backwards, Ardere drew his sword back. The demon had managed to knock him back, but beating him down was not an option. After springing the traps, knights began to awaken within the room. Well, shit. I suppose it's time we finish this. Leaping into the air, his blade was surrounded in swirling black flames. The intensity of the flames could be felt throughout the room, but his phoenix was too preoccupied to worry about it. Dishing out flaming strikes upon her enemies, the knights appeared to be fairly tough. Battering their armor with her barrages, she easily ducked out of the way of her slashes. Knocking them all back, she would allow Elyx and his partner to do their work. During this time, swords clashed sending sparks across the room. Flames gushing off of his blade, the fire mage began to furiously bash the mirror demon with his massive flame blade. Each strike cracking his armored skin and sending him back against the mirrors, shards fell to the floor, turning to dust when they hit. Sliding back, he brought his blade up. Flames swirling around his opponent, wings were covered in fire. Letting out painful screeches, they would soon come to an end as he brought his sword down upon his enemy, shattering the demon just like a mirror. He had to hold back the entire time, for he feared injuring the rest of the group. But in the end, he had gotten the job done. The flames calming down, he turned to see the knights being dealt with. Celica ran over to check her partner for wounds, but only found one. The blood running down his cheek proved he had actually been hit at least once, certainly a pain.

Why'd you let him do that? You're such an idiot. Attempting to wipe the blood away, Ardere's wound was sealed in flames. His opponent had been powerful enough to cause damage, but his fire body could easily repair it. I couldn't risk hurting you guys. But I beat him and came out in good condition didn't I? Scoffing at her partner, the phoenix warrior slid the cloth back into her pouch. They then turned to the other two mages, ready to continue. I guess we should move on then. The boss isn't gonna find himself. Turning to the next door, they said goodbye to the hall of mirrors, for they had to find their gracious host. The next room was a larger set of halls, each leading to a different part of the floor. And at the end of this was another set of stairs, to the next level. Great, more stairs. Heading over to the steps, things seemed to be quiet for now. The room was not as cold as the others, likely due to the amount of ghouls they had knocked back. His suit was ripped up, but the guild master was just getting started. He was full of energy, and ready to fight. Ripping off his sleeves, leather and wooden samurai armor was revealed. It was thin armor, but it would make a difference. His speed was significantly increased when he bore this armor, and they would need it with what they were up against. If we run into another one of those mirror demons, we'll have to give it all we got, but be wary of the house. If it collapses, we wont have a fun time ahead of us.

Ignite would smile at the final result, she had been right about this. Ardere looked very satisfied, despite the would that he had earned himself in the process. That was a battle scar that he could very much be proud of. You did an amazing job Ard. How do you feel after that battle? She would ask with a smile before closing her eyes and tilting her head. This was to show Elyx how happy that the mage would be, she full well knew that if the violinist had jumped in, the battle result would have not been as satisfying in the end. Like usual, she was right, and Elyx was glad that he had listened to her. He did not even want to heal Ards wound, but it seemed like his partner was going to do that anyways. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted, so the violinist and the She Phoenix would just watch with a smile as they were having their little despite. That was a battle well fought, I knew you could do it. All right, like you said, lets move along. Elyx would say before following the group, Ignite following right behind him as well. It turns out, they would have to meet their next enemy, possibly one of the worst ones yet in the house. Something that Elyx and Ignite hated a lot, because they took so much time and there was no easier or better way up. The Sun Tower was a hellish one to endure, hopefully the Haunter Mansion did not have stairs like that... Wait, no. They probably did not, their stairs probably were even worse. It was a HAUNTED house, what else was there to expect? One of the stairs were probably fake with some spikes located at the bottom. With their luck, they would hit that one first. Or even worse, when they get to the top of the stairs. Maybe the railings were not working and they would lean off into their death. The many ways stairs can kill you, it makes them look like a cake while they seemed like hard work rather than thinking of them as a threat to ones life.

Stepping and stepping, they would make their way up the steps as far as they can. Ignite was calm about it, she did not think so hard about it as Elyx did. The boy on the other hand thought of all the worst things that he could, he might have given himself a phobia just because of the possibilities that he placed into his head. That was a stupid move, but now there was nothing that he could do but move forward. It was a shame that he placed himself in fear, they were going to have to fight against his own fear if it gets in the way. Being afraid in a place such as this was not good, that was how one could become insane. No one wants to go insane...

    I am the fire

And I am the one I've been waiting for
    Screaming like a siren
    Alive and burning brighter

Rubbing his temple a bit, Ardere slid his sword into the wooden sheath it resided in. i feel alright, just a bit antsy to meet the person behind all of this. Going up the stairs, the group had prepared themselves for the worst but it seemed that were stuck in another strange trap. The hall they were standing in, seemed endless. Turning around, the way they had come was changed as well. An endless hallway, extending both ways. He began to notice a pattern in the paintings and tables, as if the hall began to repeat itself after a certain amount of distance. It was almost ominous, quite intriguing though. Running his fingers across the walls, every door had disappeared. Last time he had broken the enchantment with his own, but considering the enemies they were dealing with, perhaps it was not wise to try the same thing again. Gritting his teeth slightly, the guild master continued walking down the hall with his companions. Celica examined the hall, but there were no signs of an exit or any hidden passage ways. Well this is rather boring. Being stuck in a hall for an extended period of time could be very well considered boring, but her partner was too focused on finding a way out to pry at her comment. There has to be some way out of here. Perhaps this curse or enchantment is on a time limit. The question is, how long? I don't want to be walking around here for two years, and I dont want to bring the whole house down. Taking off his ripped up suit jacket, revealing his white shirt underneath. His armor covering his shoulders and arms was very visible, and Clarent was still attached to his back.

Taking a deep breath, he focused his senses on what was around him. Being one of the more profound slayers, he had quite the keen senses. There were those far better than him, but not many. It was one of the few things he took pride in, and utilized to his advantage. Focusing his sense of hearing and smell, he could get nothing from this hallway but death and despair. There had been a vibrant past before, but the years after that must have been dark and desperate. Something told him that whoever was controlling the strings here, was not the original inhabitant of this manor. The sombra family had been gone for a long time, something easily learned from reading. So who exactly was here? And why did they keep up so well with the house? Thinking about something? Realizing he had been lost in thought for a moment, Ardere nodded to his phoenix. Yeah, just wondering who we're up against. Cause I doubt it was the original family to own this place, but I could always be wrong. I smell so much new death here. Clenching his fists a bit, he kept his calm demeanor for the time being. It was important to stay focused. You got an idea, Mr Elyx?

Looking left, right, and left again as they walked, they did not seem to be going anywhere. The most they could really do was just keep walking until they eventually found an escape. Maybe the Violin call would not be so bad, it would give them less enemies and a lot more fun than just simply walking around. But bringing out too many of them was going to be a slaughter that neither of them would be able to endure, so unfortunately, he would have to slice that off as an option. The next option was simple, just endure and see what happens in the future. This thing can not actually be infinite, can it? Elyx could try to find out by using his speed to get himself through the halls with much succession and not much of a hassle. In exchange though, he would be heavily using a lot of energy, and once he got tired, it would take a while to recover. Energy was not like health or magic power, it just had to return normally with some rest, there just was no other way. None that the boy was able to find anyways. Could they try throwing something as hard as they can? Then if they hear a noise, it probably hit a wall, right? Incorrect after a few seconds of thinking about it. What if it were to hit the ceiling? They might just continue in an endless hallway with a lot of hope, only to expect a lot of disappointment in the end as well. If it hit the ground, which it would have to eventually, the same thing would occur. Such limited options, this hurts a lot. Maybe he could just have Ignite burn this place down and they could call it a day. Then again, if this were actually a party and other mages were there, if they ended up losing a night to watch a manor be burned down, the results would be nasty with both the press and the land of Fiore. Elyx would not mind that, but Ardere was the Guild Master of Infinity Hydra. Keeping that title meant keeping a good reputation, so that was another option that "Mr. Elyx" can slash out of the way. In the end, he would sigh before shaking his head side to side, he gave up on thinking of a plan.

I can not think of any with a happy ending in the end. Any in my mind current would have us lose quite the reward, and this whole place in the process. Whatever is making the hallway like this can't hold up magic like this forever, should we just stop of a little bit for a snack or something? Elyx would ask before looking down the hallway, they were just repeating in the end. For them to continue would be a stupid idea, it was a waste of energy that they would need in a battle against the source of this problem. As tempting as it was to just destroy the place, he had much patience. After all, ethics came first in his mind, he can't let himself betray that thought. So instead of reacting in a hostile way, he would sit down before crossing his legs over each other and leaning his back against the wall. Ignite would site down, her legs outstretched and her palms against the surface of the floor, relaxing as well
