    Nightmare Lilith [Job/Skyllon]

Post by Mistress Venir on 30th October 2015, 8:32 pm

    Job Description:
    Job Name: Nightmare Lilith
    Job Rank: B
Job Requirements: At least one B rank or equivalent (Up to 3 mages). 300 Words minimum per post, 40 posts minimum. Must defeat Lilith. Can only be completed once.
    Job Location: Haunted Village
Job Description: You end up getting a weird message from the Magic Council of a wizard in the Haunted Village about a wizard having as much power as an A rank mage, but her confirmed age turns out to be seven. It is also said that she has gone through a small guild recently on her own and caused mass genocide on it. This sort of crime will not be tolerated, and all of the wizards of Fiore and even the dark guilds have been told to go on high alert. This girl turns out to slaughter Dark Mages, her killing is indiscriminate like a Serial Killer. Her motives are unsure, but that is besides the point if a mage is able to capture this girl and turn her into the Magic Council for her arrest. Of course, if this becomes way too difficult, the Magic Council will allow the wizards to end her life. Remember, people are rewarded for going above and beyond the limits. If you go to the Village, you will notice that there is no one there to witness anything. The feeling you get though... There has to be a Wizard around the town somewhere, with their amount of power, you know that this could possibly be the source of the absence of all of the villagers.

It seems you won't be getting much help... Especially considering you are in a land where there is absolutely no one around. No witnesses around to help you, if you do so happen to murder the source of all of this power, at least bring some evidence that you have done so. Bringing a dead body proves nothing and it rather disturbing (Though that would not matter to certain people), photographic evidence it one way of proving yourself.

    Enemies:
Weak: Whispers: Though they may seem a little bit annoying at first, no matter where they seem to be, you can't find any source of where those voices may be coming from. It's also a bit unnerving since there is no one you can see, yet there are voices. Let the mind games begin. They will just last for one turn only it seems... Lucky or Unlucky based on how you see it

Normal: Dancing Blade: 1 Sword that floats in the air. No matter where you look, there just so happens to be a sword in your way. Even when you close your eyes, it's still in your sight. It appears to be getting closer to you by the second as well? Is there someone holding it? Hope it doesn't do anything to you when it gets close to you. This is just an illusion, but it seems real enough to hurt you. On the plus side, it will last for 3 turns. (It won't, but it certainly is odd).

Strong: Spears: A bunch of spears start raining from the sky, and they are real. Where they are coming from is something that could not be explained, but you should probably look for shelter? Or get pierced in the head trying, you shouldn't let the rain bother you too long. There will be 30 spears attempting to pierce you for each Strong monster dice rolled.

Boss: You found her... Or did she find you? Whatever the case, you had best be ready for her, she is no longer hiding! She is an A rank mage with a Stuffed animal for a magic item. Whenever she casts out an attack, it often involves memories of ones past. If she is able to break the user well enough, she can inflict heavy amounts of damage and even turned them into her own toys. When fighting with her, keep as much sanity as possible. Every hit will inflict A rank damage. It takes 12 B rank hits to successfully defeat Lilith.

Note: After 10 Dice rolls without Lilith appearing, Lilith will get tired of toying with you and arrive on the scene.

    Spells:
Crippled Soul: When Lilith casts out this spell, she binds one target in chains for one turn. These chains act like strings to a puppet, in which Lilith can control. Her stuffed animals eyes will begin to glow with purple light as the chains are being lifted into the air. If one can struggle vainly enough, the chains can be released. If not, the chains will get to a certain point in which the chains will soon disappear. If you can not break your fall or avoid the ground, you will take S ranked damage upon the fall. Not only that, but the fall would be hard enough to paralyze you for one turn.

Memory Fall: Liliths stuffed animal targets one enemy and searches their minds. Then it will take form of one person the person treasures. The stuffed animal in this form takes three B rank hits to get back to normal, but every time you hit it, the animal will make an ear-piercing scream that will really damage ones mentality badly. This animal can attack separately, inflicting A rank damage, meaning that Lilith and the stuffed animal can attack at the same time.

Trapped Spirit: This spell occurs when a target is mentality unstable and almost unable to fight. Lilith will put out her palm and transform that target into a doll with the spirit of the unnerved soul inside of it. If you get caught in it, that's it, you have failed the job and died. Keep your sanity at all costs.

    ❊ BACK TO NEVERLAND ❊

"A murderous young wizard capable of committing mass genocide. She has thus far killed an entire guild, and possibly an entire village. Proceed with the utmost caution. Preferred alive but if proved to be too much trouble then eliminate target."

There were other tiny details on the letter she had received from the Magic Council but those few lines were the only one's that stood out to the white haired mage. She wasn't sure as to why she had been specifically contacted, perhaps it sort of just came along with being a well respected Ace of Eclipse Soul? Compared to other Aces she wasn't exactly well known though, unless of course they chose her simply because of her title, "Ace of Life" as if that might give her a better shot of capturing Lilith alive...Venir could only shudder, unable to comprehend as to how a bunch of old men sitting around on a council could even consider ending such a young girl's life! Though the young girl in question was a rather homicidal, borderline genocidal criminal.....Still, that didn't mean that Lilith deserved death, there was always a chance of redemption or at least that's what Venir was taught....

    ~*~

"So this is the Magic Council."

She looked up at the grand building that housed the equivalent of Fiore's top police force advisers as well as regulators. These were the mages that oversaw just about everything within their continent, they regulated the legal guilds, and kept their ever watchful eyes on every other guild. She couldn't help but gulp as she looked at the building and everything it represented. The white haired woman figured that reporting to the Magic Council first would be a good idea, and then from there she would travel to the Haunted Village that Lilith had claimed as her own.

A homicidal little girl... that was certainly a first for Brennan, but it clearly wasn't a first for the universe, as this girl existed. There were plenty more details in the letter that Brennan had received, but most of them just made him shudder they were so horrible. Brennan had no clue why he had been contacted specifically, after all, he was a relatively, nay, extremely unknown wizard, so there was really no reason for the Magic Council to contact him specifically. The blue haired boy frowned, staring at the creamy parchment and intricate cursive letters on the paper. Brennan was worried that he would accidentally kill the girl, unlike many wizards, he had no problems with killing, as long as it was for a good cause. Even though he believed this, he hoped that he wouldn't kill her, Brennan could definitely use the extra reward. However, killing a criminal might be good, it would be one less evil person plaguing the world. Although, maybe this girl deserved a second chance, Brennan wouldn't know until he met her.

    -~-

Very soon, Brennan arrived at the esteemed Magic Council building, which, he had to admit, was just as majestic in person as it was in all of the pictures he had seen. As Brennan stared at the Magic Council building, completely awestruck, he spotted a familiar face. It seemed to be one of his former guild mates, but much, much older. Could it be her? It would be an amazing coincidence if it were her, so Brennan ran up to greet her, his pink robot, A.I.R.C., residing on his left shoulder. "Venir? Is this that you?!" Brennan yelled happily, running towards the girl, who was now somehow older than he was, even though she had been younger than him not too long ago. Brennan laughed happily as he ran towards the white haired mage.

She had simply stood and stared at the building for a few more moment, wanting to commit the place to memory. Venir had spent a lot of time these days committing things to memory, her own past had been forgotten thanks to her case of amnesia, and it wasn't until recently that Venir began to fear that it might happen again. Which is why she had spent so much time the last few weeks paying attention to even the most minute of details. Yet it was this extreme focus that almost caused her to not notice a rather familiar voice calling her name. "Hm?" She turned her ruby gaze towards the source of the sound after a moment or two had passed. The mage was greeted with a familiar head of blue hair that she had not seen in quite some time.

    "Brennan?"

She called out not unkindly but more or less confused. He had disappeared off of the face of the earth, or at least away from Eclipse Soul guild sometime ago. A lot had changed since then, within that time span the young Ace had discovered a rather shocking fact with her guild master, that she was in fact not a child but merely had a spell had been placed on her in order to hide her true age, along with a myriad of appearance changing spells. Naturally, being memory-less Venir had no recollection as to why or how those spells were placed on her. Instinctively, Venir clutched at the ruby pendant looped about her slender neck, that pendant allowed the white haired woman to revert back to her childish form when she wished, and more times than not Venir preferred to be in her childish form. However, she assumed that the Magic Council would trust her in her adult form to go handle Lilith rather than what appeared to be nothing more than a child, though of course regardless of form Venir was still a very capable mage, it just seemed as though most would underestimate her depending on her appearance. Red eyes narrowing rather sketpically Venir was prepared to interrogate Brennan,

"What are you doing here? Where did you go? Why didn't you say anything?"

"I am here for a job." Brennan stated, pausing before answering the woman's other questions. "Where I went... that is a bit complicated. Strictly speaking, I am a member of Laughing Coffin, however, the prime reason for this is to escape my father." He ruffled his blue hair before answering in last question, "And I did not say anything because I value the lives of those who are members of Eclipse Soul." Brennan frowned, "Anyhow, my dearest apologies for leaving so abruptly. I just could not have my father hurting anyone I cared about. I hope you can forgive me." He stopped for a second, wondering why Venir was here. "I am here to catch the genocidal little girl, you are here for the same reason, yes?" He assumed Venir was here to catch Lilith, as he was, and started to talk again. "Sorry about being so useless last time around, I promise I'll actually help you out this time."

A.I.R.C. simply stared at Venir, trying to process who she was. "Who are you?" At asked suspiciously, clinging to Brennan's neck. Brennan realized that the pink robot on his shoulder might look strange to Venir, so he started to explain what A.I.R.C. was. "This is A.I.R.C.." He said calmly, "It's my Artificial Intelligence Drone." A.I.R.C. nodded all through this explanation, and loosened his grip to Brennan's neck. Once again, it asked, "Who are you?" Brennan sighed, "A.I.R.C., this is Venir, an old friend of mine." A.I.R.C. stared at Venir for a little while longer, and proceeded to jump on her shoulder. The Drone was completely oblivious to it's incredible weight, as Brennan had grown accustomed to bearing it, but whenever it jumped on other people, the outcome was almost never good, as the little pink robot weighed more than fifty pounds. All of this happened very quickly, and Brennan didn't have enough time to stop the robot from jumping on Venir.

    Laughing Coffin

Venir frowned unsure of what to make of his change in guilds. It wasn't uncommon for members to leave Eclipse Soul, in fact it was one of those guilds that few ever called it home for long. They were designed to merely help mages get back on the right path and from there it was up to them if they wanted to stay and help others, or move on into the next step of their lives. Yet Brennan had left without accomplishing much or at least to Venir's knowledge he had never found whatever redemption it was that he was seeking. Yet now he was in a neutral guild designed for taking in the equivalent of homeless mages seeking a home. "Were we truly so unwelcoming?" The white haired mage bit back her questions and instead listened to what he had to say before finally speaking up. "Well, I pray that I can hear the whole story one day." She paused for a moment wrestling with the idea of forgiveness before she finally gave in, "I do forgive you. The guild master on the other hand is not nearly as lenient as I am." She warned just in case, not wanting Brennan to think that his actions were entirely okay. Losing a member without warning was worrisome for all they knew he could have been dead!

"Good, I'd hate for you to end up getting shot again. Though luckily we're not up against a whole crew of slavers this time. Just one little girl...."

The mission was more sinister than the last but it did not sound nearly as challenging as dealing with the gun wielding slavers. How much damage could one little girl really do? The little robot's voice pulled Venir out of her thoughts, it seemed to be inquiring as to who she was. "Woah." She hadn't really seen such advanced technology before, Eclipse Soul was more or less behind the times when it came to tech. She gave a small wave at the robot only to have it jump at her aiming for her shoulder. It was unexpected but it did not end in disaster. "You're heavier than you look!" She laughed but showed no apparent strain on her body. It was a clear testament as to how far the mage had come in terms of not just magical strength but physical strength as well. She had gone on countless harrowing missions as of late, and those missions helped her refine her own physical and magical prowess.

Brennan grabbed A.I.R.C. and plopped the pink robot back on his shoulder, smiling mournfully. "Shall we get going?" He asked, clutching the handles of his swords. Suddenly, Brennan remembered a question that had nagging him. "How come you look so much older?" He asked quizzically, he knew of magical items that made one look younger than they were, however, he wasn't aware that there was any type of item that made people look older. Perhaps there had been some sort of spell cast on Venir, or maybe she had been taken to a different dimension where time passed faster... The number of options were endless, so endless that Brennan got lost in his own thought, barely even aware of what was going on around him. Brennan placed his weight on his cane as he thought of the endless possibilities, and was completely oblivious to anything happening around him until A.I.R.C. tugged on Brennan's spiky blue hair, "Is anyone there?!" It asked, tugging on Brennan's hair endlessly.

"What?" Brenann asked, blinking as his mind refocused on reality. "Huh?" Brennan shook his head rapidly, finally aware that he had blanked out. "Did I miss anything?" He asked, redirecting his attention back to the older Venir. He stared at her, surprised at how her features were almost identical, even in her much older form. Brennan took his weight off of his cane and slipped it back through a loop in his belt, yawning, "We should probably get going." He stared to walk towards the Magic Council building, looking back at Venir to make sure she was following the blue haired mage. For a second, Brennan had expected to see a little girl following him, momentarily forgetting that Venir was not the little girl he had once known. In his mind, Venir would always be the little girl that had helped him through the Liberation of Slaves job.

The pink robot was off of her shoulder just as quickly as it had gotten on it. It was quite literally a wright getting lifted off of her shoulders though by no means was it an unbearable one. The white haired mage gave a simple nod indicating that they should head on to the magic council where they would get a quick mission debrief. Before either of them could get going, Brennan had asked her a questions making her pause amd frown. It was a question that many had asked her but it was always difficult to explain no matter how many times she elaborated on it. "Well," She scratched at the back of her white locks trying to figure out where to start, "Truth be told this is about the age I should be." Which made some sense, Venir even in her childish form was on a different level than most childre. Sure she had been prone to childish tendencies but there was always an occasional glimpse of something that was simply not childish. "Apparently, there was some sort of spell on me to hide my age....Supposedly there's other spells as well. One's to hide my appearance....Then of course there's one on my memories as well." Vulnerable, and uncertain Venir wasn't able to say why or how these spells were placed on her. Nor were they sure how to go about removing them. Of course there was always the matter of whether or not she should remove those spells....Did she really wanna know? Those spells had to have been placed there for a reason and that was to hide who she was...

Apparently, Brennan had managed to space out throughout her whole description making the mage roll her eyes and sigh. "Basically it was a spell placed on me this is my real age but it might not be my real appearance." She huffed hand on her hips. Her young form and her elder form didn't have many differences save for a slight shift in height, figure, a lightening of her hair, and a jagged scar that ran from her brow to the center of her cheek. It wasn't like the council was going anywhere but the two of them did have placed to be. "Right!" It was rather odd that Venir didn't feel nervous about taking down a little girl, when she herself knew that little girls appearances could be rather misleading when it came to terms of power.

Brennan walked up to the large brass doors of the Magic Council, and heaved them open, surprisingly, it didn't take muchh of his strength, even though the doors looked insanely heavy. Brennan walked into the main hall, greeted with a stunning array of stunning marble columns, and an equally stunning ceiling. The ceiling of the Magic Council was by far the most impressive part of the building, it had been enchanted to perfectly mimic the night sky, the stars glimmering, even with an occasional shooting star flying by. "Amazing..." Brennan whispered to himself, fiddling with his own thumbs. He had recently come up with new manners to cast two of his spells, and he was itching to try them out, hoping they would be as successful as they had been while he had been practiced them. Instinctively, Brennan clutched the handles of his blades, and paced around the Magic Council, searching for the room where he was supposed to go to. If he was being honest with himself, Brennan had absolutely no idea where it was that he was going, and relied entirely on Venir to navigate him through the Magic Council building.

Brennan, clumsy as he was, tripped over his own feet and stumbled into a random room with a open door, where he was greeted with a blonde man whose legs were crossed. He smiled ever so slightly, "You here for the girl?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. Brennan simply nodded, astounded by his own dumb luck. He man smiled, "Very well then." He said, standing up briskly. "I'll have you know, this is no easy task. She may be a little girl, but her power level is far greater than those of many mages." Brennan simply nodded, as much as he hated to admit it, there was no way he could take the girl alone, but with Venir, they could very well stand a chance against this psychotic little girl.

Without further delay the two of them had entered the grand building that the Magic Council called home. The inside was just as splendid as the outside. Her tall white boots clicked against the well polished marble floor. It shone so splendidly that Venir swore she could practically see her reflection. "I can't believe they have this much money to waste." She scratched at the back of her head awkwardly feeling rather out of place. The pair traveled down a long corridor lined with countless white pillars, every other pillar had an oaken door next to it though where it lead Venir could not say for certain. The most distinguishing feature of the whole place was the ceiling. Clearly, they had put quite a bit of money and magic into it in order to have perfectly recreated the night sky accompanied by dozens of stars and shooting stars alike. Venir was certain that she could spot a few constellations as well thought she wasn't particularly familiar with the stars.

Venir lead the two of them through the building apparently looking like she knew where she was going more than he did. Truth be told it was for the best that she took the lead. She at the least was a well respected member of a legal guild, on the other hand Brennan would face far more consequences just wandering around the Magic Councils headquarters considering his affiliation. The two of them would have wandered around for forever if Brennan had not managed to trip over seemingly nothing, and fall right through a door where a blonde man seemed a bit startled at someone just barging in. Apparently the gods were favoring them seeing as the blonde after taking a moment to recollect himself inquired as to whether or not they were there for Lilith. "Sorry!" The white haired mage bowed her head in apology. The man had elaborated a bit on Lilith but Venir was unphased,

"Don't worry if there's one thing I know it's little girls with magic!"

The man raised his eyebrow in response to Venir's statement, and once again began to talk. "This girl is known for her proficiency in Madness Magic. By all means, keeps your sanity, do not let her get to you. If she manages to break you, that's it, game over." Brennan raised an eyebrow and coughed, "I'd say that sounds a bit harsh, but I'm sure you mean it, sir." He coughed again, and stopped talking, waiting for the man to elaborate some more."Now," The man said rather seriously, clearing his throat, "You may hear whispers upon arriving in the Haunted Village," He cracked his knuckles, pausing for a second, "You may also see illusions. Do not let any of these get to you, if you lose your sanity, you lose your life." A chill went up Brennan's spine, suddenly his confidence was gone, he was afraid he was going to lose it, he was afraid he was going to die. But he couldn't be afraid! He had to maintain his stability if he had any chance of beating Lilith, even with Venir's help.

"Well then." Brennan said, his voice quivering, "You just made this unquestionably ghastly." A.I.R.C. chirped, "Very, very scary!" It shuddered, well, it shuddered as well as a small pink robot can shudder. The man raised his eyebrows at A.I.R.C. and chuckled, "Well kids, you got any questions before I send you to your unquestionable death?" He chuckled, his voice booming throughout the room, "I'm just kidding!" He chuckled, "But seriously, any questions?" Brennan took a second to process all of this information, and cleared his throat. "So, you want us to capture the girl alive?" The man didn't even pause before responding, "I don't care. Dead or alive, I'm satisfied, as long as this bloody girl is gone."

The madness magic was a bit unnerving but even more unnerving was just how badly this man wanted the little girl dealt with. Enough so that he didn't care if she was captured dead or alive. What a despicable thing for the Magic Council to have become a group of wizards that shamelessly killed little girls, albeit evil little girls, but they didn't even try to get her alive. It left a rather bitter taste in Venir's mouth making her speak her mind. "We'll capture her alive." Her tone might have been a bit too sharp with their employer. Not to mention her icy red glare didn't help make the man anymore comfortable. Venir couldn't help it though just the idea of killing anyone made her rather upset. She was the Ace of Life for a reason. The value of a human's life was taught to her by a guild mate that had long since left the guild but she had taken the value of that lesson to heart, and since having learned that she didn't dare raise her blade against a living being capable of change.

    "Let's go Brennan!"

Venir huffed, grasping the blue haired man's hand with a bit too tight of a grip. Turning on her heel she stormed out of the room ready to drag Brennan and his robot out of their if necessary. She had gotten someway down the hall before finally releasing him from her crushing grip. "Sorry!" She apologized, never one to forget her manners. "Ugh! I just get so irritated that people in a high position like that have no value for the lives of others!" She explained not wanting him to think she was crazy, "Trust me! We'll catch this crazy little girl alive!" She would be difficult, a bit more than Venir had anticipated but she was confident none the less. Taking one last deep and calming breath, the woman raised a fist towards the heavens chirping out her usual motto,

    "Let's do this!"

Venir suddenly yelled about capturing the girl alive, and dragged Brennan out of the room, which Brennan responded with,"Uhh, ok?" He almost tripped over nothing before stabilizing himself, and nodded, "Let's do this." After walking out of the Magic Council, Brennan frowned, "So, uh, any idea how to actually get to the Haunted Village? Because I have no clue whatsoever, I am truly sorry, Venir." A.I.R.C., who had been quiet this whole time, suddenly chirped into the conversation, "It's not that far from here, actually." A blue screen appeared in front of Brennan's face, much to close, in his opinion, but it did show the location of the Haunted Village. He swiped the screen to Venir and said, "Shall we get going?" Brennan turned and started walking, tripping over the tiniest of pebbles. As the boy fell, his ankle twisted into an extremely unnatural position. Brennan yelped in response to this and heaved himself up with his cane. "Oww..." He said, keeping his left foot elevated from the ground. Brennan dragged himself forwards, he couldn't let a twisted ankle get in the way of him capturing this Lilith girl, which, apparently, had to be done without killing her, according to Venir. Brennan dragged himself forwards, hoping to hit the Haunted Village soon. As he trudged, Brennan lost track of time, almost completely zoning out, with the exception of his feet, which kept moving forwards.

Soon, thanks to Brennan's rather abnormal blood, his ankle injury healed, and the teenager resumed walking normally, once again putting his cane in the loop on his clothing. Throughout the journey, Brennan had forgotten about Venir, and hoped that she was actually following him. Brennan still wasn't used to Venir being older than he himself, and kept thinking of her as a little girl, constantly having to remind himself that the girl was now older than him.

Venir could only sigh as Brennan nearly tripped again. Had he always had such uncoordinated feet? Besides if he fell through another door it was hard to say whether or not the person on the other side of it would be as understanding as the last man was. "The Haunted Village?" She echoed his question back and appeared to be in serious thought for a moment or two, but then she gave a shrug of her shoulders indicating that she had no knowledge of how to get there either. Luckily, the little pin robot did seem to be good for something and that was apparently directions. When the screen was passed over to her Venir took a moment to marvel at the technology that was so new and foreign to her. In a world full of magic, technology was more wondrous to Venir than actual magic or at least most of the time it was. "Right! We'll be there by..."She thought it over for a moment, with how much Brennan tripped they should be at the Haunted Village by, "Sundown at the latest...." It was exactly Venir's first choice but how bad could it be....Arriving at a supposedly Haunted Village just as the sun was supposed to set?

"Come on it's not like there's ghosts...It's just a little girl!"

Venir inwardly reassured herself or at least attempted to. Ghosts and the like weren't exactly things that Venir was particularly fond of. "Are you okay!?" Brennan had finally fallen, this time his ankle twisting in an unpleasant manner. However, Venir had nearly forgotten that the male had a rather quick recovery time. The last time they had done a job together he had managed to survive countless gun wounds so surely a little twisted ankle would heal up in no time. Despite his quick regenerative abilities, Venir was once more reassured that this would be a long walk over to the Haunted Village with her rather klutzy temporary partner.

Brennan walked at a decent pace, frowning to himself, arriving at a Haunted Village at sundown didn't sound particularly enjoyable, but supposedly, there were no ghosts, just a genocidal little girl. Which could, Brennan supposed, be even worse than a ghost... He frowned, which was worse, a young, twisted serial killer, or a ghost? Brennan just couldn't decide. He knew that ghosts were much harder to handle, using earth magic like his, but a little girl who drove people mad was not something that Brennan wanted to deal with. He pondered over this question for quite a while, his mind in his own private little world. Somehow, the subject in his head changed from which of the two would be a tougher opponent to how Brennan would prefer to die. Burning? Drowning? Freezing? Or perhaps even bleeding to death? He pondered the subject as he walked, calculating the positives and negatives of each manner of death. After a while of this, Brennan shook his head, reconnecting to the real world. "So Venir." He said calmly, the heels of his combat boots clicking against the stone floor, "Do you think this girl is as tough as that man made her out to be?" He paused for a second, "This Madness Magic of hers seems tough, but it also makes it seem like she's not well equipped to deal direct damage..." He paused once again, taking a deep breath, "I wonder... does she make up for this weakness of hers? Or does she just rely on driving us mad?" He rambled on about Lilith for several more minutes, this girl intrigued him very much, but he was obviously scared of being driven mad. "Venir." He said, rather seriously, "We need to watch each other's backs. Neither of us can go mad, or we're screwed."

    "It's hard to say...."

She began while trying to organize her thoughts. Venir of all people knew the dangers of underestimating someone because of their size and their age. "I think we should take his words with a grain of salt..." The man they had spoken to seemed to be on the cowardly side, especially if he was willing to kill a little girl. "But we should still prepare ourselves for the worst." It would be best to go in there prepared but not afraid. If they were afraid beforehand then the two of them would be susceptible to her attacks, making it even easier for her to drive the two of them to madness. "Exactly. I suspect that she specializes in this madness magic because she lacks the physical capabilities to fight us." Lilith was just a little girl, who in terms of magic was Venir's equal but in physical strength? Well, Venir had always been exceptionally strong in physical terms. Even in her childish form she was a match for a full grown adult it was most uncanny and certainly unnatural. As if sensing Brennan's fear, or rather hesitation the white haired mage stopped.

    "Hey!" She gave a small, her best attempt at reassuring him, "You may not be apart of the guild anymore but once a guildmate always a guildmate! I got your back okay? So no need to worry!" She was being sincere that much was clear. Turning her attention away from Brennan she swept her red gaze over the village. There was no signs of life to speak of in fact it looked almost abandoned. Which made it rather difficult to determine where a homicidal little girl might be hiding in such a place. "If I was an insane little girl where would I hide?" She thought with another huff of air. The moment she saw a certain building, Venir knew that was exactly where Lilith had to be;

    A Mansion

Brennan smiled as Venir said that he would always be her guild mate, "Thank you." Brennan looked around, at first not noting anything of interest, until he laid eyes up a mansion. She had to be there. For a second, Brennan forgot all about Venir, and walked towards the mansion, pushing in the large maple doors, only to find that the building was completely abandoned on the inside. How strange... Brennan thought to himself, drawing his blades, just in case. "Hello?" he asked, his voice echoing throughout the building. There was no response, Lilith door, and what he found could not be described as anything less than disturbing. He had expected to see a few dead bodies lying around, but what he found was much, much worse. It was a heap of dead bodies, but the bodies were weaved together interestingly, forming a... teddy bear? This was beyond disturbing, so Brennan slowly backed out of the room, hoping for better luck in another room. Be shuddered as he backed out of the room, and pushed open another heavy door, more bodies, but these bodies were rotting, disgusting. How many people had this child murdered? And why in the world would she keep the bodies? Who in their right mind would want a reminder of murder?

That was just it, no one. This girl was downright crazy, had her own madness magic driven her mad? Brennan thought about this as he blankly wandered into another room, and of course, more bodies, skeletons this time. "This is extremely disturbing..." Brennan muttered to himself, grimacing. "Venir?" He said, a bit more loudly, "Could we please get out of here?" This was preposterous, never before had he seen anything this downright crazy, let alone a little girl... He shook his head, he couldn't let her get to him. That was what she wanted, he had to maintain his sanity.

    "Anytime."
She chirped in response to his thanks. Not long after Brennan's gaze seemed to land in the same place as her own. Apparently, they both had the same idea. Without another word the two continued on towards the mansion. As they got closer and closer the mansion seemed to grow larger. It was strange for a place to have such an imposing presence. She supposed that it must have been the after effects of having housed Lilith. Was her magic so strong that it could even give a once elegant mansion an ominous look? Still, once they were near the mansion, and even within it, there was no doubt that Lilith called that place home. The entire place had an almost maddening feel to it, and somewhere deep within that mansion Venir could feel a magic stir to life.

    Creaaaaaaaaaak

The door opened with its hinges making an unpleasant squeaking sound. In the otherwise silent town the sound of the door opening was almost painfully loud. Venir visibly braced herself for an attack but nothing ever came their way. Letting loose a small sigh of relief she continued on after Brennan not wanting to be left alone in such an eerie place. The two had ventured through a seemingly never-endless mansion, with nothing but the sounds of their boots upon the old wooden floor. She half wondered if they were already caught in an illusion of some sorts, forced to walk through a labyrinth of halls and rooms with disturbing images. Could the two of them even get out of the mansion if they turned back around? Venir did not get to worry about it for too long as Brennan sounded rather concerned, almost frightened. She had to be strong for the both of them,

"Hey! It's fine. Don't worry we'll be out of here soon enough."

She slipped her hand into his to reassure him. Her grip tightening, Venir tugged her ex-guildmate through the mansion. She checked each room before letting him enter making sure that it wasn't too gruesome of a sight within. Venir herself was rather surprised at how well she was handing the whole thing. She would have thought that she'd be a puddle of tears by now at the sight of so much death but one of them had to try and keep their cool.

Brennan was surprised with how well Venir was handling the whole 'serial killer who fills rooms with intricate piles of dead bodies' thing. He'd expected her to react similarly to how he had reacted, but she had simply slipped her hand into his and checked each room before they entered, making sure the sight within was not too gruesome. He was rather thankful for this, but he had to be strong, he couldn't care about whether or not there were dead bodies within, they were already dead. The best he could do was capture this girl to keep her from harming any more people, whether or not they were innocent. Brennan had calmed down immensely, so he slipped out of Venir's grip, and started to walk up an immense staircase. His boots clacked against the wooden stairs as he climbed, soon reaching the top. On this floor there were many more rooms, most of which Brennan suspected held many more gruesome dead bodies, but they had to explore all of the rooms, if they wanted to find Lilith, that is. Brennan placed his hand on a cool metal doorknob and turned it, preparing himself for the dead bodies that he was sure lied in wait. What lied within wasn't exactly what Brennan had expected, it was a single dead man, lying exactly in the center of the room, wearing no clothing except for a pair of dirty jeans. On the man's chest, the emblem of a well-known dark guild was emblazoned. "He must've posted a challenge to her..." Brennan said, his voice cold and calculating, void of any emotion. "That's why he has his own room." It was disturbing to think that this girl gave those who were challenging opponents their own rooms. And the fact that she had been able to slaughter a dark mage, who, judging by his muscle mass, was very powerful, provided no comfort whatsoever to Brennan.

The two had continued on for some time like that, hands linked, with nothing but silence between them save for the sound of their boots upon the wooden floor. Most of the rooms were too gruesome to enter, Venir somehow managing to keep the content of her stomach within her stomach was a miracle. It seemed that the farther they ventured into the mansion the worse it got. At long last the two came upon a spiral stare case. It was there that Brennan has slipped from her vice like grip, and began the climb up the creaking old stairs. Not hesitating Venir followed after him while constantly checking over her shoulder. The stairs seemed to go on for a long time, and the way the groaned beneath their combined weight was rather concerning.

Eventually, the two reached the top of the stairs only to find themselves at the beginnings of another hallway. Countless doors lines the walls the contents within them was sure to be just as horrific as that of the rooms on the first floor. Another thing to note was the lack of windows in the mansion. "Strange just by where we've traveled there has to be some sort of window somewhere...." Unless of course they were already caught in an illusion...Pushing that ominous thought aside Venir peered into the room that Brennan had chose to enter. Within it was not a pile of bodies, no, there was but a single body in there. Despite the man's affiliation with a dark guild, Venir couldn't help but pity him.

    "Poor thing..."

She knelt next to the body as she dug through her pockets until she produced two jewels. She laid them atop of the man's eyes, feeling guilty that he never got his chance at redemption. After taking a quick moment of silence for the fallen man, Venir once more stood up. Her posture went rigid though as she stood, a cold chill going down her spine. "Over there..." Her voice was but a whisper as she gestured with her head towards a door that wasn't there before. Even from here she could feel an ominous presence. Whatever, was behind that door was clearly not their friend.

Brennan watched as Venir put two Jewels over the man's eyes, and turned his head as Venir gestured, and a chill went down his spine, that door had not been there before, and he was 100% sure of that. "T-that's impossible." Brennan said, his voice quivering with fear, but he was curious, he needed to know what was behind that door, and he really didn't care how bad it was. The worst it could be was Lilith, and that wouldn't be all that bad, after all, they were looking for the girl anyway. Brennan slowly walked towards the door, the floor creaking as he did so, and curled his hand around the doorknob. He slowly turned it, the hair on his arms standing on end, and pushed in, ready for anything. At first glance, there was nothing there, in fact, the only noteworthy part of the room was an intricate crystal chandelier, completely with gold accents. Strangely enough, the chandelier let out some light, even though there were no visible light sources. However, Brennan didn't give this much of a second thought, as this was a pretty common enchantment on chandeliers and other light fixtures. What did creep Brennan out, however, was how much the clearly expensive chandelier contrasted with the rest of the room. The walls were falling apart, the wallpaper was peeling off, and there were various cracks in the floor, this room was clearly abandoned.

It was then that Brennan realized the worst part, there were no bodies. This was to be his and Venir's resting place. "Uhh, Venir..." He said, his voice faltering, "I-I think this is w-where she p-plans t-to kill us." He gulped audibly and clutched the handles of his swords with all his might, terrified out of his wits even though nothing had happened, yet.

The door that had appeared was a vivid red, like Venir's eyes, or to be more specific it was like blood. The female mage was more than willing to take the lead but Brennan had beat her to the door, not that she was really complaining. If anything she felt a little guilty, she should be the one leading the way through the mansion, and protecting the two of them from danger. "The guilty feels guilty..." A voice had taunted but Brennan didn't seem to hear it. Venir's head whipped around, was she hearing things? There was no one in the room who could have said that unless the dead man had suddenly taken to speaking. "Artificial! Memoryless! Ignorant!" The voices whispered at her now, making Venir bite back a yelp as she rushed towards Brennan and the room that he had paused at.

"She who brings nothing but fire and death!"

That whisper was slightly louder than the rest, and it struck a chord within her. A chord that hadn't previously existed to her. Frantically, she rubbed at her eyes trying to prevent the tears from spilling as she blindly rushed into the room and past Brennan. In the back of her mind she could hear Brennan saying something but it fell upon deaf ears. The whispers were too loud, they were all she could focus on. Those eerie whispers, saying things she didn't quite understand but still didn't like. "Ashes! Ashes!" The whispers half sung as Venir held her palms over her ears in a vain attempt to silence them. However, she could still hear them clearly even more so than before. To panicked to realize that the voices were in her head, Venir finally let loose a wail, "They all fall down." The voices chimed as Venir crouched beneath the ornate chandelier, hands still held over her ears, eyes shut tightly. Above her the chandelier swayed and creaked, before at long last the chain that held it in the air snapped.

"He runs and runs." It was but a faint whisper, but Brennan heard it loud and clear. It wasn't Venir's voice, so h knew she hadn't said it, which creeped his out even more. "Guilty. He is guilty." The voice was louder this time, and it knew so much about Brennan. He bit his lip, willing the voice away, perhaps it was just his own subconsciousness. "He thinks he can hide, but he will be found." Brennan whipped his head backwards, staring at Venir, who seemed to be facing her own demons, this was Lilith's doing. "Venir!" He shouted, "This is Li-" His words were cut short by another phrase from the taunting voice, "Those who sin cannot avoid their deaths." Brennan pressed his hands over his ears, why wouldn't the voices just stop?! As Brennan crouched on the ground, trying desperately to forget his past, he heard a snap, and the glowing chandelier crashed into the ground, the crystal shards just barely avoiding Brennan's body. He screeched loudly pounding the ground as another voice, this time a scream, filled his head, "He will be punished for his sins." Brennan let out a wail, slamming his fist into the ground. "He will be punished...!" He voice said again, echoing in his head. Brennan collapsed to the ground, his body limp. "P-please stop..." He mumbled to himself with a loud sob, "Just s-stop!" He slammed his left fist against the ground repeatedly, tears streaming down his cheeks like there was no tomorrow, and there probably was going to be no tomorrow, as Lilith was most likely going to murder them, but this thought just made Brennan sob even more. "He will die. Be it at the hands of the Master or the hands of his own kin." Brennan whimpered helplessly, he just wanted the voices to go away.

The sudden sound of a chain snapping caught Venirs attention, and it was enough to snap her back into reality. That or the voices had finally had their fill of torturing her. Craning her neck upwards Venir saw an array of elegant crystal glass falling down towards her. Her ruby gems widened her body frozen for a moment trying to comprehend just how that had happened. It was falling so fast that Venir couldn't possibly avoid it at this point. The mage had to do the next best thing. She hit the floor so hard that she knocked the air out of her. Her entire body curled in on itself. She did her best to use her arms to cover her head. All she could do was brace for the worse- CRASH thousands of shards of glass scattered across the floor. Venir had felt pain for a brief moment before everything went black.

    ~*~

    "Uggggh..."

She groaned, opening her eyes. It took a moment for her vision to focus but when it did she groaned again. There was so much red, was that blood?, and glass about her. A sharp pain at the back of her head had Venir prodding at her hair. Her fingers came back slick with blood but it could have been worse. Her entire body ached and stung but she couldn't lie there forever. Getting up took a bit of effort and only caused more pain. The glass on the floor dug into her hands and knee's when she tried to get up. Venir let loose a quiet hiss as she finally got up onto her feet. A few more stray shards of glass slid off of her and hit the floor, shattering like its brethren. Spotting a whimpering Brennan Venir was spurred into movement but had to pause for a moment. A wave of dizziness has washed over her almost causing her to lose her balance. Venir had to take a few deep breaths to stabilize herself before approaching Brennan. Glass crunched beneath her boots as she cautiously approached the man. Her voice was a bit hoarse but not unkindly,

"Brennan snap out of it. We must keep moving. It'd be best if we didn't stay in the room that Lilith is trying to kill us in right?"

The voices were gone. They were finally gone. Brennan inhaled sharply and stood up, his vision blurry, so blurry, in fact, that he couldn't tell that Venir had been injured. "Right." He said, "Let's get going." He slowly paced towards the crimson door and once again opened it, dreading what was on the other side. Nothing. Brennan let out a sigh of relief, and took a step into the room, grinning that Lilith wasn't there to murder them. However, Brennan's happiness was short-lived, because a single spear fell from the ceiling, just barely missing his face. He gulped, nothing good could come of this, and of course, nothing good came of it. More spears began to appear from nowhere, hurtling towards Brennan. Brennan could think of nothing to do except turn into sand, so his body spontaneously dispersed into black sand, which started to fly every which way to avoid being hit by a plethora of spears. However, this spell put enormous strain on Brennan's body and mind, so after about five minutes of flitting around as millions of grains of black sand, Brennan's body reconstructed itself in a corner, where Brennan crouched down, trying to avoid being hit by spears. He was too busy avoiding being impaled to check on Venir, but he hoped she was doing okay. Brennan glanced up quickly, the spears were coming from nowhere, this wasn't some sort of elaborate trap, it was definitely Lilith's doing. After a while, the spears ceased, and there were just thirty random spears impaled in the ground, doing nothing in particular.

Brennan stood up, "That was unexpected." He said, grabbed a spear and examining it. "It's very well crafted," He acknowledged, "This girl seems to be rather skilled at creating weapons." He jammed the spear into the ground once, and sighed heavily. This was getting to be quite a pain.
