Important The Golden Lacrima: A Huge Hoax

Post by Tuna on 20th July 2015, 5:25 pm

"Golden Lacrima: 200,000 Jewels (Bring a Golden Lacrima with you and you gain 10% more jewels from your mission! The Golden Lacrima lasts for 365 days)"

    *gets out calculator*

I'll take some statistics handed to me by members and use them to calculate the worth of the Golden Lacrima. The first jewel farming item on the site that has up until, not once been used. And it will never be used, because let me predict, it is 100% worthless. It costs a LOT more than it brings in.

Starting with some things off the top of my head, I'll give you a look at the average of the jewel rewards for missions at every rank.

D Rank: A little bit above 1000, so for the benefit of the doubt, I'll say 1.5k on average.
C Rank: They give on the lower end between 1000-2000 (with 5000 being one exception), so let's just say 2000 for the sake of this example.
B Rank: I do say, a lot of these give up to 10k, so I'll go with that. 10k.
A Rank: 25k exactly, as there are only two available missions.
S Rank: A lot of them give 80k, so I'll go with that.
SS Rank: I'll go with about 130k.
10Y: Strangely, these also give about 130k on average.
100Y: These give about 200k on average.

Now let's look at how much you can earn when you consistently do jobs. I've done 6 D Ranks in a day, but that was because the total word count of 6 D Rank amounts to a fly's fart.

But first I want to ask, for what type of member was this item made? A high ranking one trying to rack up jewels for something bigger or a low ranking one that speeds through them? Either way, considering this is an item SPECIFICALLY made to FARM JEWELS that COSTS JEWELS IN THE FIRST PLACE, it is safe to assume this item is supposed to make profit. That means, in the span of a year, you earn more than the 200k you spent on the item in the first place.

This item ONLY applies to missions and only gives you ten percent. Now let's see just how many missions you would have to do to make this item throw off some profit.

200k is the price, so let's be stupid for now and say 210k in a year would suffice for winnings. You would need to do either: 10-11 100Y missions. 15 10Y missions. 15 SS Rank missions. 25 A Rank missions. 100 B Rank missions. Or 200 D to C Rank missions. Now, can anyone see why this is complete bollocks?

Not only is it IMPOSSIBLE to do such an amount of missions in a year. Not even the 25 A Ranks which would probably go quickest because A rank requirements are the relative lowest. But that would STILL amount to round 2 A ranks per month. Think about that. Nobody manages such consistency. Not over the course of a year.

In simpler numbers, you would need to earn upwards of 2 million jewels in a year JUST from jobs to make this thing worth its money. And not just 2 million, that would only cover the cost of the item. You would make zero winnings from it. Considering I've never even seen a member earn that much through mere missions, and not to mention I think it's humanly impossible to do so, the numbers show why this item just doesn't work.

So all in all, it's pretty clear. The Golden Lacrima is 100% useless. Not worth its money. It does NOTHING for anyone who buys. Either change the farming to something like you gain twice the amount of jewels from every job, or this item is completely useless. I mean, it's a FARMING item. It's not supposed to bring in 10k or 20k more than you earned. If you want to farm jewels with a farming item, you can damn well expect to have at least 200k PLUS at the end of the year, if not more.

I don't get why this item passed, or who came up with the idea. It's redundant and should either be changed or removed before someone accidentally buys that thing.

Anyone with me? Give us a jewel farming item actually worth its money. Because this ain't it.

At the very least if we will not buff it we should trash it. I'd hate to be the person who buys this without realizing the consequences.

To add onto Lyserg's math for the 10% bonus to generate 210k jewels(for a reasonable profit margin as he said) doing those jobs without the golden lacrima would already net 2100k jewels. So you go from 2100k to 2310k at the cost of 200k. 10k profit in the face of 2100k .-.

Doubling would be pretty nice, then you'd break even in just 1 100 year job. Then the rest is profit. Oh yeah no big deal just a 100 year job.

I feel a cash farming item should be a low cost, low return item. You pay a bit to make a bit more. Putting a high cost on it will require herculean feats to break even, and putting a high increase on it will create the risk of breaking the system with a jewel flood by ambitious farmers.

So a low cost, low return will allow people to turn a profit without too much difficulty without flooding the market with jewels. 1k per 1% increase?

I would suggest having a jewel farming item that does not cost any jewels. Instead of having to buy it, you could ultimately just give the person the difference in jewels instead of having a buy-sell process attached to it.

My suggestion would just be the following, much simpler, much more direct solution: Raise the jewel rewards. What is the point of a jewel farming item that costs jewels to buy. Any win/lose ratio is beyond redundant if the INITIAL purchase costs an amount of jewels. Unless it is a horrendous amount you will never ever be able to possess without donating (in which case, who needs jewel rewards anyway) such as a million or more.

Just raise the jewel rewards. Don't give us a farming item that costs jewels and gives jewels in return. Instead, just raise the jewel rewards for everyone so nobody has to take a random detour into the shop.

In case some people are having trouble understanding the flawed logic behind a jewel farming item:

    >Everybody wants more jewels.
    >Make Jewel farming item
    >Jewel farming item costs jewels
    >Everybody buys jewel farming item
    >People end up with more jewels

    As opposed to this:

    >Everybody wants jewels
    >Raise jewel rewards
    >People end up with more jewels

See how the end result stays the same? Does it really matter to give people extra jewels who take their time to post in a shop to buy an arbitrary item that would become obsolete if missions just gave more jewels?

It's an item for the sake of having such an item. It does not objectively improve the mission system in place. It just adds another step to it that could be avoided.

Can we please remove the item and raise jewel rewards?

"The system" is already broken as it revolves around donators who donate for jewels and then are generous in sharing with non-donors.

At the very least we should scrap the Golden Lacrima

Its looking like its as Zenshin has said. No one is really wrong at all.

I agree with Lyserg on that we should just raise the Jewel reward for jobs. Makes things easier in the long run and people get what they want and things can be a lot less stressful for everyone to focus on having fun with their RPing.

The item does need an overhaul or get scrapped. Raising the rewards on jewels would certainly lower the P2W mentality by quite a lot.
