Private Nightmare Incarnate | Job | Kite & Joyce

Post by Kite Wilhelm on 13th May 2015, 9:57 pm

The day started off just like any other day, Kite woke up in his new room in a small cabin located only a short distance from his Sabertooth’s guild hall. He sat up swinging in his bed and pulled his blankets off revealing that he was shirtless which in turn showed off his muscular body that had a few scars left from when he trained with his demon mentor, he was was wearing a pair of compression shorts which were typically his sleep wear. Kite let out a yawn and rubbed his eyes fully waking up ”YAhhhh, man I swear nights grow shorter and shorter” he said to himself as he swung his legs over the edge of the bed with his arms in the air as he stretched out the muscles that became stiff over the night. Kite planted his feet and stood up out of his bed and went over to his window and pulled back the curtains showing that the sun was just peaking out from over the distance. With a rumble of his stomach Kite gave his tummy a pat ” Alright, point made time for food” he said made his way into the kitchen to cook himself up a nice meal, but what would he make? Kite opened the refrigerator and noticed that he had some eggs and bread and coffee, so he he made himself an old style breakfast complete with eggs that were scrambled, toast and coffee that he drank black and piping hot. He let out a burp upon finishing his meal and laughed a bit ”Now that was a good breakfast!” Kite said out loud while he took his dirty dishes and dumped them in the sink. He put his gaze on the door and grinned ” I will wash these later time to get to work”. Today was a day that Kite decided that he would go out and take a job, but what job that would be would be determined based on what he could find at the guild.

Kite exited his cabin and began the walk to the guild hall, Luckily he didn’t live too far out from it. He was fortunate that it was a nice day out, not a single cloud in the sky and the sun was shining nicely down on him. ”What a day, It’s almost a waste to be going out on a job on a day like this.. but who knows.” Kite looked up to the sky again and continued to speak out loud bringing his thoughts out to the surface. ”Maybe this nice day is a good sign that an easy job will be lined up for me” Kite said with a smile. In about no time at all Kite arrived at the guild hall and he didn’t waste anytime entering the guild hall and immediately had intended on walking over to the job request board almost immediately upon entering one of the members of the guild who was in charge of passing out mail to the Guild members rushed over to Kite holding a rather large cardboard box in his hand. “ Hey Kite, this came for you today! I have no idea what’s inside but it has some weight behind it” he said as he stretched his arms outward to hand off the box to Kite, who reached and clamped on the box with both hands. ”Thanks” Kite said as he took the box over to an empty table and placed it on the table’s top and looked over the package before he opened it. Right on the top of the box was Kite’s full name next to the word “To” and the Initials SM next to the word From. ”That’s certainly strange…. I don’t think I know anyone with the initials SM” Kite said to himself as he felt the curiosity of what was contained in the package begin to control his actions, however he was feeling something rather ominous about the package but continued to open it regardless. Kite let his finger heat up and he dragged it along the tape on the top of the box and then opened it revealing small black book with the title Samuel Martin’s Diary and an orb covered in a black cloth. Kite opened the black book with the thought in his mind ”Who would send me a book let alone a diary”. Kite began to skim the contents of the book and read it to himself.

”12 February, Day 647. Today was a fun day. Me and Mary went on a picnic near the forest and spent the whole day talking about meaningless things. It really was a blissful experience and since she didn't have any problems today we were able to forget about reality, even if for just a day. 19 February, Day 654. It happened again. Mary collapsed again today and started mumbling about magical gates and how everything is going to be a nightmare. This is happening more and more often and I am getting really concerned now. No doctor knows what's wrong with her...25 February, Day 660. This is really getting out-of-hand! With each passing day Mary becomes more and more delirious. I don't know what to do any more. I've contacted every doctor and every mage I could find, but no one knows what's wrong with her. There has to be someone that can help...1 March, Day 664. This is my last hope. I contacted an exorcist who is said to be able to cure cases like Mary's. He's going to come tomorrow night. Maybe the end of this nightmare would finally come.2 March, Day 665. It's a little before midnight now. The priest is going to come any minute and put Mary's troubled mind to peace once again. 3 March, Day 666. I... don't believe it. I remember last night... the purification ceremony... then something happened and I was sent flying, and Mary ran away towards the Spooky Forest. When I came to, the priest was lying on the ground with his heart gourged out. What on Earth happened last night? There's no time to waste, I know she's somewhere in the forest so I have to find her. I'll contact a couple friends from the Rune Knights and we'll set off to search for her. Please be okay, my love...". He read it all until the pages had run out, and he couldn’t comprehend what he had just read but from what he read he could understand that a demon, or a demonic force might have been in play, that is when Kite close the book and noticed that cover and the corners of the pages were stained in something red….. ”Is that blood!” He said to himself and then went to reach in the box for the recorder lacrima and pulled it out and was confused to why he had be the recipient of this package. This certainly was seemingly the downfall of what seemed like a pleasant day.

I'VE GOT THICK SKIN AND AN

    elastic heart

She knew it was early when there were strands of light struggling to get past the grime on her blinds. She could hear the birds chirping and even their feet pitter-pattering on the window sill; thanks to the eerie silence in her room.

    Trrrrrriiiinnnnnnnnngggggg!

The alarm clock buzzed horribly, and the girl's nonchalant, sleeping-face, transformed into a dark scowl, as she brought her hand down in a semi-drunken stupor onto the screaming clock to snooze it. Not that she had been drinking, chance would be a fine thing, but at this time of day her neurons don't fire too well; so it pretty much has the same effect as half a bottle of whiskey. She couldn't stand breakfast either. Tossing and turning in the warmth of the sheets was all that she did for the next few minutes, before finally banging her mind with the idea that she planned to make this day productive. Well, it was a promise she made to herself just before bed each night, and one that she failed to act on ninety-nine percent of the time, but today..... 'Is a fine day.'

The morning was as assured as the tides and just as unstoppable; she knew that regretting its arrival was of no use. However, the red-head couldn't shake off the feeling that she needed a few more hours of blackness. Not to sleep, but to prepare, to pour her thoughts out onto a page, reorganize, prioritize and pack them back in again. But yellow orbs could already see the chaos that was her room, the dark ragged outline of the dirty clothes on her dresser and the tall lamp that she always tripped over in the dark. Sighing, the girl sat up in her bed, throwing her feet onto the warm, wooden flooring and stretching her arms out- a bid to toss away the laziness that seeped into every pore of her body. She could taste stale saliva and her vision was hindered by the sleep in her eyes, not to mention the bob of dirty red hair that messily sat atop her head, 'Need a cold shower.

The female put her plan into action, and by the time she was done, it was over an hour. But she definitely looked much more presentable, to the point that she'd be saved from the glance of a person who considers her a tramp from the street. Her stomach rumbled silently, and she knew that she was once again regretting the fact that she couldn't pull off a simple sandwich; it was just beyond the scope of her abilities. She grabbed the metal-studded gloves next to her bed and pulled them onto her hands. It was a ritual set in motion by the other her, the one that exists after nine AM, who had thought to put them right here on her chair so that crack-of-dawn her can cope.

On that very same table, sat a snow-white box of fresh donuts. Well, if you can call last evening donuts fresh, that is. The girl hastily opened up the box, grabbed one of the beautiful ring-shaped cakes and stuffed as much of it she could, into her mouth.

'Sabertooth, sabertooth, here I come.' The female named Joyce mused with a tune in her head, as the music hummed from her throat, but not the words, as she filled herself with the dessert food. Sauntering into the guild hall, the moderate cacophony of it settling into her ears, she scanned the whole grandeur of it with a sparkle in her eyes. It had been a couple of days since she joined the guild of the tigers, but it never ceased to amaze her. Every table in there was a cosseted huddle of people raising their voices to be heard above the din. She cast her eyes about as if in a wandering daydream but really was only taking note of who associates with who. If she was going to stay here for the rest of her life, it's imperative she made the right introductions, know who to snub and who to flatter. Her vision settled on a blue haired male, who seemed to have poured himself into a book, which he was silently reading to himself. In front of him, on the table, sat a box and the girl's intuition concluded that he'd just received the seemingly-torn book from that package.

Taking the last donut from the box in her hand, the red-head made her way to the reading male. She approached slowly, not wanting to disturb him and stuffed the whole dessert into her mouth in one go. Just then, the man had finished reading, "Whaaryoureeing?" The question came out in an incoherent mumble, and the girl swallowed the whole thing in embarrassment, ending up in a small coughing fit.

"I meant to ask, what are you reading?" Joyce let the question out in the open, and before the man could even reply, she leaned forward to see what was in the package. The only thing that laid in that card-board box was an orb, one that she identified as no normal orb, but a recorder lacrima. Picking it up in an instant, the girl activated it--- without the slightest hint of social etiquette that demanded she shouldn't poke into other's business, especially since it could be personal.

In that moment, a voice resonated from the inside of the recorder, "Date- 4 March. Time- 1:43 PM.
This is Lieutenant Jacob Lars, recording an audio log to document the investigation and search. I am assigned due to my expertise in the field of demonology. It seems that a woman has been possessed by an unknown type of entity, presumably a type of demon, and has escaped in the Spooky Forest. We are currently within the said forest ourselves, having a local guide us through. For some reason when we entered it a thick, almost unnatural, fog descended upon us but we were capable of navigating through the dense vegetation regardless. Currently we are standing in a forest clearing about 2 klicks north of the entrance. So far there's no sight of of neither hostiles nor the woman. It's unnaturally quiet. A bad omen.

Date- 4 March. Time- 2:30 PM.
This is Lieutenant Jacob Lars documenting the investigation and search for the possessed woman in the Spooky Forest. This is log number two. It's been nearly an hour since the previous log and we've spent the time delving further north into the forest. It's crazy here. Everywhere you look there are huge trees and if you look up there is nothing but branches and leaves. The vegetation on the higher levels of the forest is incredibly dense, so there barely is any light down on ground level. It almost feels like we're alone in another world with no way out, and that damn fog isn't helping either. All this is taking it's toll on the minds of the others.
We're nearing another clearing. I guess we'll rest there for a while.

Date- 4 March. Time- 2:45 PM.
This is Lieutenant Jacob Lars documenting the investigation. This is audiolog number three. Things are not looking good. The others are getting seriously paranoid and I can't really blame them. This place plays with your mind in a very freaky way. A few minutes ago we continued moving deeper into the forest, following our course north. The guys are really getting worried now. They say that every now and then they see someone's silhouette in the distance, just beyond the fog, watching them. Observing their every move. I have yet to confirm the existence of this shadow, but if it is there then it might be the woman we were sent to find. Next time the silhouette makes an appearance we'll go after it.

Date- 4 March. Time- 666:666 PM.
*The sound of someone's ragged breath mixed with their crazed running could be heard for several minutes. After that the barely audible thud, as if someone being hit against a tree, interrupts the running*
This is Leu*static*nt Jacob *pant* Lars. We *static*eed help! We...we got sep*static*ed and the *static* took us out *pant* one by one. It's b*static*n watching us all along! Tor*static*ring us while studying it's *pant* prey. It's close, *static* the only one left *static* coming f*static* me. *static* *static* *static* the time *static* thre *static* ourty-five."

The recording was followed by more static and the girl instantly stopped it, turning her vision to look at the blue-haired fellow who stood in front, "You gonna investigate this? If yes.... I'd like to join." Joyce stated, no traces of an apology hinting her tone of voice.

Alas, she was severely lacking in the mannerism and no-nosiness department.

Kite had just finished reading the contents of the journal and was rather dumbfounded by what he had just read. Of course in the back of his mind he knew that these things happened out in the world that there were demons who were low enough to possess a person and use them for their own desires in one way or another, Asmodeous made sure to drill that Kite's brain while he was training him, and he has even had an encounter with some unnatural forces in the cursed woods during a job but that was a minor affair and was an effect of evil energy permeating the area causing things to happen. This was different, this would be a demonic possession on the level that Asmodeous warned him about. ”so is this the sorta thing you meant when you said some demons are low class scum?" he said to himself as he looked at the cover of the book and reopened it to get a better look at the pages with blood on them.

It was at this time that his solitary and investigate reading was interrupted but the mumbled words of someone trying to talk with their mouthful. Kite looked away from the book and locked his red eyes on to her as a slight color of red on her cheeks from embarrassment she swallowed the food she had in her mouth but seemingly was unsuccessful in her action for she started to cough quite a bit. Kite was going to offer her water but she managed to regain her composure enough to speak to him again correcting her earlier attempt of speaking by simply saying she meant to ask him what he was reading. Kite's face turned from her face he looked back at the book trying to come up with answer appropriate for what he just read. ”well that's hard to explain but it seems that..." Kite didn't get a chance to finish for he was interrupted by a third voice which made him look up to see what was happening. The red headed girl was holding the other object that was delivered to him and the voice was resonating from it. Kite heard each of the video logs and slowly started to stand up in attention looking at the lacrima as it went through each of the video logs.

According to the audio logs the owner of the log was a Lt. Jacob Lars who was documenting the groups findings in their search for the woman that he read about in the diary as well as any demonic activity and the Lieutenant was quite diligent in his task to record and about close to and hour apart from the last. However the recording wasn't very long at all, the first log according to the time stamp on the recording started at 1:43 and the last was 666:666. This had demonic pretty much branded all over it wasn't hard to figure out by the end of the audio log that there was something in that Spooky forest, something that was able to wipe out a group of Knights and as if it was child's play by how Lt. Lars was describing in the last bit of his final recording and he personally stamped it at 3:45 which was also choppy thanks to the static. Kite stood up, he already decided that he was going to go after reading the diary but now after hearing that it made sense why this was sent to him since he was a Mage trained to slay demons. Kite noticed the red head was looking at him and asked he he was planning to investigate this and stated before Kite uttered an answer that if he was going to go that she would like to join. Kite gave her a look and was going to turn her down, but thinking back on the audio log and what happened to them there was a good chance he would need the extra bit of help. ”Alright, I have a feeling if I said no you would just come with me anyway are you ready to head out now? I want to get there as quick as possible." he said to her as he took the recorder and placed it back in the box and then picked up the diary and handed it to her. ”might be best that you read the first half of the story" he said to her before walking over to where the mail boy was and handed him the package. ”can you hold on to this for me? I have to run out for a little bit and won't be heading home until later" he said to the mail boy. He turned to the red head ”do you need anything before we head out? If I recall the spooky forest is a ways away" suggesting if she needed something for the job at hand now would be the time to get it.

Riveting, was the most appropriate term in the current context, for the recording had piked up Joyce's curiosity to the top-most numbers on the scale of interest. An apparent demonic force possessing a person was perhaps one of the most fascinating things to witness in person, especially considering that she may even get an opportunity to fight against the occult power. Not to mention, it was a chance to bring her promise to herself to fruition; to end doing something that was at least remotely productive as a mage.

"Alright, I have a feeling if I said no you would just come with me anyway are you ready to head out now? I want to get there as quick as possible." The blue-haired male stated, causing the girl to let out a small chuckle. It was surprising how he had concluded that she'd end up on his tail even with a negative response. And though the thought hadn't crossed Joyce's mind when she'd put ahead her proposition to the man, it certainly seemed like her thing-to-do if faced with a no. It was just the fact that when the red-head fixated her mind and will onto something, she'd go to infinite lengths to achieve or experience it.

"We can head out right this instant, no worries." She stated, a small mystery tugging on the edges of her lips, while she disposed the donut package held in her hand by placing it on the table that lay in front of her. She expected the person who dealt with the caretake of the guild hall to sweep it away from there. Being new to Sabertooth had its downsides, which included not knowing how the guild's internal elements functioned or what tasks other than the mediocre jobs for mages were undertaken by the Sabers.

She sighed inaudibly, while accepting the blood-stained book handed over by the man and flipping lightly through its contents when he walked away to hand over the received-package to the mail boy. From that first glance, she picked up the name Mary and concluded it to be the victim's identity and that the possession was slow and gradual, but intimidating to enough to drive Mary's lover up the wall. Her yellow irises settled on the bloodstains splattered across the pages, and the rough way of tearing some more leaves from the end of the book. Perhaps, information of greater significance was held in the confines of those pages - perhaps, they'd have to go out of their way and grab those pages to solve the mystery unfolding in the Spooky Forest.

"Do you need anything before we head out? If I recall the spooky forest is a ways away." She heard her partner-in-crimejob speak and glanced up in his direction, smiling in a way that might convey that he knew absolutely nilhil about her. Holding the book in her left hand, Joyce extended her dominant hand into plain-sight and summoned a small dagger made of celestial bronze in her palm. A second later, its disappeared and was replaced by a long scythe made of the exact same metal, which, was substituted by a massive sword made of strange red-metal in the next moment. Making it dissipate into thin air, Joyce met the man's eyes with a small grin, "ReQuip, sire. Everything I need is with me everytime of the day. Unless--- you're expecting me to go and dress up like a princess." She spoke, her voice faking a Knight's tone when speaking to the royal blood and bone.

"And, yes, the Spooky Forest is miles away from here- which is why I'd suggest that we take a carriage to Magnolia, the hitch a train ride to Clover Town and find some other way of travel from Blue Pegasus' hometown to the Forest. Although its assisted travelling, its still the fastest and easiest route we get from Sabertooth." Joyce stated, her voice seamlessly shifting to a tone akin to someone commenting on the weather as her mind romped the map of Fiore for her visualize.

Ambling her way to the door of the guild, she turned to face the man, "And while we make this journey, I'd like you to introduce yourself, Blueberry." Saying that, for a split second, Joyce wondered if the nickname she chose for him (based on nothing but his hair-color) would send him rolling into a fit of rage, or maybe destroy the chances of her tagging along with him. But she dismissed that thought with her own formal presentation, "My name's Joyce, by the way... Joyce Iscariot."

Kite had decided to let the red haired girl tag along with him on this job, he couldn't help but notice the little chuckle she gave after Kite said she could join him, or more specifically his reasoning behind his answer in that she would come either way yes or no. She then answered his question quickly by telling him that they could leave right away and that he shouldn't worry. The truth was Kite was a bit worried, and not because of this dangerous job ahead of him, but he was nervous seeing as this would be a true test for his magic, he demon slaying magic. He watched as she placed the empty box of donuts on the table, she has finished it but instead of taking to a trash can she sorta just left it there. It didn't bug him too much though he would have to admit he would be pretty pissed if he had clean up after people..he realized how Ironic that was seeing as this job was possibly a clean up job of sorts.

After he handed her the diary and then dropped off the remaining item contained in the package to the mail boy Kite had asked the girl if she needed to get anything before they left for the spooky forest. He saw her yellow eyes look away from the diary and met his red eyes and had a smile on her face that puzzles him. It was almost as if she wanted Kite to ask the question, or at the very least was glad the he did so she could show him what was next and the answer to his question. He watches as she stretched out her right hand While holding the book in her left hand and she summoned a small but well crafted looking dagger and with in an instant she forced the dagger to vanish into thin air and in its place she brought forth a long scythe and for the finale she swapped the scythe for a massive looking sword red in color. She forced her sword away and then with a grin she looked up at him and simply said requip sire. This was the first time he had the chance to see a requip Mage utilize their magic, and he was quite impressed on how well she used hers in such a fluid and almost flawless way. ”Huh... Interesting " was all he said before she made mention that everything she would need is with her anytime of the day, but added at the end unless she was expected to dress up like a princess. This made Kite chuckle and simply said ”nope, not something I would expect from you" he said with a smile.

She went further by responding to his statement about spooky forest being a ways away so she suggested that they take a carriage to Magnolia where they would grab a train to clover and from clover to the forest stating that route was the fastest way to get there from the guild hall. ”wow sounds like you know your way around Fiore. he put his left hand in his pants pocket ”works for me" he said keeping it simple. Kite stood still as she slowly walked towards the door and turned to face him, once again his red eyes met her yellow ones as she began to speak to him telling him that she would like for him to introduce himself on their quest referring to him as blueberry. Kite was silent at this moment before he laughed out loud for a second at the nickname she gave him obviously referencing his blue colored hair. ”Blueberry huh? Never heard that one before" he said scratching his chin with is right hand. Before he could respond she introduced herself as Joyce, Joyce Iscariot and so he returned the introduction ”My name is Kite Wilhem, you can call me Kite... Or if you want you can use that little nickname you have given me" he wondered if She would be surprised by his acceptance of blueberry, he would have returned the nickname but all he could think of was red and that was a cliche nickname. Kite grinned and held out his right hand ”and since you showed me yours it's only fair to show you mine" he said as he let the white flame like aura surround his body as he concentrated the flames into his right hand until ball of white colored flame materialized in his hand ”I use Flame Demon Slayer magic.. Now that all the cards were on the table and they both knew what each other's magic was he felt ready to leave.

Kite went along with her idea and took a carriage from the sabertooth guild to Magnolia with took several hours, and then from there hopped on a train to clover and finally from clover they snagged another carriage, although the driver was against taking them so close to the forest so Kite had to fork over some extra cash but there they were, standing at the border of the forest.Kite leaned his head towards Joyce”it's a pretty big place, how far in do you think we will get before we manage to find trouble?" he asked her not taking his eyes off of the forest in front of him. He couldn't shake the uneasy feeling in his stomach but he knew that the cause of this sensation was somewhere in the depths of the forest and it felt the most evil of anything he had encountered so far, and he hadn't encountered it yet.

Her hand dug itself into pocket of the beige coat that she donned, pulling out a palm-sized, red-colored box. Popping it open by digging her thumb-nail into its flap, a sly grin parted the red-head's lips and she binged on the stick-delight that was officially termed as Pocky. At the same time, the blue-haired guy introduced himself by the name of Kite Wilhelm, to which she acknowledged with a nod and a sincere smile. However, her yellow irises soon shifted over to the white orb of brilliant flames that had materialized within the palm of his hands, and her vision dilated ever-so-slightly; recognizing the essence of the magic without the lead-in by Kite.

'Interesting.' She mused within her head, her eyes floating over the sphere for a second longer and then shifting back to hold the man's red-eyed gaze, "You've got the upper hand against our enemy." She uttered, hinting at the fact that Demon Slayer magic was substantially effective against demons and other creatures of the dark. It was a fabled and rare magic, thus raising her curiosity regarding it, since this adventure could be a chance to see it in flesh and blood- and separate the facts from the myths that floated in the air regarding the power of it.

Perhaps just a couple of minutes later, the Sabertooth duo were adrift on a carriage to Magnolia, experiencing the cool air and the listlessly blue sky of that brilliant and picturesque morning. It was then followed by a train ride, meant to tunnel straight up to Blue Pegasus' hometown, Clover. When they got into the vehicle, it was already bright afternoon and Joyce could clearly conclude that they'd only reach Spooky Forest by late evening or maybe even nightfall.

Clunking and screeching, the low-maintenance engine kicked into motion, pushing the sleek train down the beaten, old track. Even after the train had left, the sound of the pulsing locomotives pounded through the day, until the deep booms of its powerful thrusts quietened down to gentle beats in the heart of the light. Sandy mist swirled gently across the now empty track, covering it in a wispy blanket. The track was now hidden beneath a mysterious layer, like a deep secret or a myth. A myth akin to the one they'd be unraveling in the Spooky Forest.

    'Hopefully.'

Another carriage was hitched from Clover Town, heading to the forest that was said to be the stronghold of Savage Skull, one of the most brutal and ancient of the Dark Guilds. The driver won't agree to the idea of letting them down any close to the periphery of the infamous Forest, but Kite had a trick up his sleeve, the age-old trick of tipping extra. Money is a damn good language, an eloquent one at that, and tends to work regardless of the time or circumstance.

By the time she set foot into the wet, muddy earth of Spooky Forest, Joyce's bones seemed to be made of lead. She was never a great-traveler, and the waves of pain rolling through her joints spoke loud in support of that matter. She stretched and yawned in an impromptu manner (never being one to own even a trace of shame), a chilling sigh escaping her lips, while Kite questioned, "It's a pretty big place, how far in do you think we will get before we manage to find trouble?" For a second, she stared at him with a face which had confusion written on every inch of it, and it was only a few seconds later that it struck her like a whip of icy air, 'He's probably a prudent fellow.'

Smirking slightly, the red-head shrugged carelessly and ambled into the shadows cast by the thick canopy overhead, "How about we find out by actually going in, Blueberry?" She questioned rhetorically, a cheekiness lacing her confident, contralto-like voice.

Right before Kite began his introduction he watched as Joyce pulled out a small red box from her coat pocket and opened it pulling out a stick a couple of inches long and quite small in diameter. She put one of the snack sticks up to her lips and then started to munch on them as he gave her his name which she nodded acknowledging his name and also gave a nice smile along with the smile. He couldn't help but give a grin as Joyce's eyes were fixated on the orb of White flame that hovered in his hand but also noted that she was not surprised by him labeling his magic as Demon slayer magic. ” Hmm I suppose that it is possible that she has heard of Demon Slaying magic, or even more so has seen it before" he thought to himself as he watched her continue to gaze at the ball of magic before her yellow eyes and looked back up at him locking onto his red eyes.

He took note of how the white light emitting from the Fireball reflected off her eyes and spoke to him stating that he would have an advantage against their opposition on the job. Kite gave a smile ”While my magic is very effective against Demons directly I am haven't faced off against a demon like this before, a demon who is in possession of a human tends to be harder to deal with. he said to her restating a afact that he was told by the one who taught him his magic. ”but looks like now is the the time to find out just what his magic can actually do. he said to her as he let the ball of fire slowly fade until it was gone.

Unfortunately the trip from Sabertooth to the edge of the spooky forest took just about the entire day, typically this wouldn't bother Kite but since he and Joyce were about to tackle a demon of sorts being in the dark figuratively was soon going to be accompanied by the actual dark as the it was turning dusk upon their arrival. Kite heard her yawn out loud after exiting the carriage, Kite smiles when he saw this for it was something he felt like doing too after such a long trip. However he kept his mouth shut and leaned his head to the side letting the stiffness be forced out by cracking his neck as he asked her about if she thought they would run into trouble. She looked back at him for a second seemingly puzzled by his question but soon smirked and simply replied with a rhetorical question. Kite couldn't help but smile at her referring to him
A blueberry and shrug ”I guess that is how we will find out. he said and then began walking with a purpose towards the forests opening but turned to her.
” and I guess that name is going to stick from now on isnt it? he didn't mind the name but didn't expect her too keen calling him..then again he did tell her to call him that if she wished.

Kite resumed walking into the forest and followed what seemed to be an old road of sorts, possibly an old trail for hikers. While walked he kept looking around the forest wondering where in this sense forest they would find the Knights... Or more accurately the remains of them and while this was serious he couldn't help but think out loud. ”I wonder how many Knights were part of the regiment that went fell here...
wonder if any of their family are aware that they might not come home "
he said and just in time to sense something near by.. Something that felt ominously similar to Asmodeous but nearly as powerful. ” I think we need to head in that direction" he said point east from their current position.

"And I guess that name is going to stick from now on isnt it?" Kite questioned behind his back, while making his way into the depths of the Spooky Forest. It made a chuckle escape from Joyce's lips, as she nodded and replied with an earnest grin spread across her face, "Aye, it will." By then, the red-head had let her partner take the lead and was following closely behind, the yellow pools of her eyes glancing around and poking into the darkness of the thick canopy and foliage that covered them from almost all sides. It was a sea of bright green, intermingled with the deepest shade of black that hinted with malice- hoping to strike apprehension in the minds of the souls that traversed into its mid.

Kite was following a small, beat-down trail that was clearly made due to frequent usage by people travelling via foot and Joyce couldn't help but take a pause in her amble very now and then to examine the muddy ground and look for foot-prints of any sort. And every time she bent over slightly and squinted her eyes, the girl only followed by a disappointed click of her tongue--- there was absolutely nothing to help them out. A trace of worry had begun to show its signs on her lively and exuberant face; for the idea that the two Sabers would have to scout the entire Spooky Forest for any clue about the Knights seemed like something from her worst nightmare. From what she had learned from her days on the streets of Fiore, the Forest spread out for miles and miles- getting thicker and more dangerous with each step into its core. It wasn't a delightful proposition now, was it?

However, what escaped her notice was the man whom she happened to accompany today; she'd completely ignored about what his plan of action was. So when she heard his voice break the eerie silence of the air with a wonder of how many Knights were part of the regiment and whether they'd return home, Joyce almost jumped into the air.

"Geez, warn me before you talk next time." She muttered, while wiping of a thin line of sweat that had settled on her upper lip by now. She wasn't really sure of what was happening, but a sense of paranoia was certainly creeping into her usually confident demeanor. Perhaps, the Forest was not as inanimate as she had expected it to be. Perhaps, it had a devious mind of its own that liked to occasionally trick its seldom visitors.

"Can't be sure of the number, there's no footprint or any other sign of them. As for their families... I always believed that they're people who know what the Knights signed up for when they decided to serve the Council. As the old people say, the world is a terrible place--- so the Knights are never assured the safety of their lives." Joyce spoke, while pushing away some stray branches of trees from her way and reaching next to Kite just when he pointed to the eastern direction. Her eyes trailed his outstretched arm and stared into the darkness ahead; it seemed as if he could sense a strong magical power emanating from there and now that she concentrated there, Joyce could feel the ominous aura too. But not as a demon's signature, more like, something that made slightly weak in the knees and sent a chill down her spine.

"And if I die, Blueberry- mind you, my ghost is gonna haunt you forever." She made an attempt at a joke almost subconsciously, and it came out in a cracked whisper, while she took a step in Kite's pointed-out direction and knew full well.... that she was getting a bit more pallid with each heart beat.

Before making taking the lead Kite asked the question regarding the newly anointed nickname was answered but not before Joyce let little chuckle escape followed by her simply saying "aye, it will". Kite looked back at her when she said this and saw the big smile on her face which in turn made Kite smile back at her locking his red eyes back onto her yellow ones ” I guess it will, I can live with it. Don't expect a nickname in return though I am not that creative" he said admitting that she may not get a nickname outside of red if he were to call her that at all. All the while he traveled down the path that lead into the inner depths of the forest the more and more dark and malicious with each passing second.

However the trip wasn't without some small pit stops, Joyce would stop and kneel down to examine the trail not too sure what for but seeing as she had some ideas on what to do Kite didn't asked, he would simply stop and turn to watch her so so and even more so to watch her back especially since there was something out there in the forest that managed to screw around and possibly kill a squadron of Knights. Soon after her examining the path they would continue to walk but a small sense of something started to wedge its way into Kite's brain, he looked around and had a really sneaky suspicion that he was being watched by something. Kite let out a chuckle ”starting to see why people call it the spooky forest. Just being in this dense forest in the dark was enough to make a man think there is something there. he thought to himself mainly to keep himself calm but the silence wasn't helping so he asked Joyce about the Knights missing and if they would return to their family which made Joyce seemingly jump and causing her to tell him to warn her next time he wants to talk. Kite stopped and looked at her with a puzzled look but noticed some of the sweat on her lip and noticed how the forest was starting to get to her too despite her speaking her opinion on the Knights saying they knew that they might not get home. He knew this was a good point and wanted to continue talking but before he could he sensed something east of their position and looked that way telling her that they should head that way.

That is when Joyce said to him as she looked down the way that is she died that she would come back and haunt him but noticed she was whispering it to him so he responded with a small joke. ” sorry red hate to spoil your fun but if you die here good chance I won't be far behind." he said to her but then decided that while that was said he would reassure her ”but let's do us both a favor and avoid dying this time" he suggested to her with a kind smile. Joyce started to make her way in the direction where the evil force was and Kite followed behind her however soon after heading in that direction Kite got a strange pit feeling in his stomach. This was a strange feeling and it weighed him down. He started to hear the sound of cracking coming up from the canopy above them both, and down coming towards them was a large limb of a tree ”red heads up! he said reaching forwards to grip her shoulder and pulled her back as he stepped back to avoid the falling tree limb that crashes on the ground in front of them.

"Sorry red hate to spoil your fun but if you die here good chance I won't be far behind." Kite replied, causing Joyce to chuckle bemusedly as her mind registered the word red in the sentence, which was almost out of place. She raised an eyebrow while turning back to face him, and the realization hit her out of the blue. Almost instinctively, yellow pools slid up to glance once at the red bangs that hung low on her forehead. Her lips broke into a smile and she looked back at her partner, "Red, huh? So we're playing color-color now."

"But let's do us both a favor and avoid dying this time." Kite continued and Joyce couldn't help but nod earnestly; as the hopeful wish of making it out alive out of the Spooky Forest crept into her mind. Even the entrance seemed miles away at this point, mostly thanks to their position and the heavy foliage surrounding them. Even the rising moon's pale, but existent light couldn't make it through those dense bunch of leaves. Tossing her head back and peering above, the girl could feel her breath hitch in her throat and knots of muscle forming in the pit of her stomach--- for some reason, stepping out felt like a distant dream. And in that fateful instance, the redhead could only ponder on an inch of the fear that those Knight must have felt; the fear of impending death. In the depths of that perfectly-named forest, the Reaper seems to knock at your front door with heavy pounding.

However, dismissing those dark thoughts, the girl sighed and walked forth into the direction that Kite led her too- the heart in her chest almost threatening to burst out and cold drops of sweat settling on the nape of her neck. It was the weirdest experiences of all time, feeling paranoid without a solidified reason.

    Crack!

A sound made several feet above the ground on which the duo tread upon, and before her neck could snap up in alarm, a sharp pull on her shoulder slid her to safety. Joyce had shut her eyes tightly during that split second of potential disaster, so when she heard the thud of something heavy right ahead of her- she knew she had escaped the maw of death by a second. A breath issued from her lips and the redhead opened her eyes, muttering a weak, "Thanks." to the blue-haired man who accompanied her, "That was a damn close call."

With that sentence, she stepped over the branch, her hand crossed upon her heart in an attempt to beat down the raging beats, as she spoke, "Thanks for saving my sorry ass, Blueberry. I owe you one now."

After Kite fired a nickname of his own for Joyce he could hear a small chuckle escape her mouth before she turned around to face him with an eyebrow raised. Kite wasn't sure what was going to come next but he noticed something click when she looked up at her red bangs and then back at him letting a smile form from her lips before she spoke to him asking if they were playing color for color. This made a smirk show itself on Kites face before he answered back ”well it was either that or matching fruit for fruit and calling you cherry instead... Hmm now that I really think about it cherry might fit better" he said with a teasing tone in his voice while crossing his at the same time to mimic someone in thought. He was half expecting to get a playful punch for that one but made sure that he told her that he would like to have them both avoid dying today which she quickly nodded to.

Not long after heading towards the malevolent force that Kite had felt did things start to get more strange. First there was the feeling of being watched followed shortly by the sound of a tree limb breaking right above their heads. Kite quickly grabbed and pulled Joyce out of the way before she could get squashed by the falling limb. The log crashes hard into the ground sending vibrations throughout the nearby area. Kite let out a sigh of relief right before Joyce let out a weak thank you that Kite barely heard and the states how close that was.

He watched as Joyce stepped over the branch with a hand over her chest right where her heart would be and thanked him again for as she said saving her sorry ass before calling him by his new nickname. She also stated that she owed him one which made Kite smile and step over the same branch ”nah you don't owe me anything Cherry, I might not have been clear earlier." he paused and place his hand over onto her shoulder which was connected to the arm and hand that she had over her heart ”when I said we avoid dying today I meant to say I won't let you die" he then squatted and took a seat on the log that just a moment ago might have been seated on them and patted the spot next to him. ”after that it might be a good idea that we take a second to catch our breaths" he said. Fact was he could hear how fast her heart beat was, and the best thing for that was to take a quick breather before continuing in the spooky forest However the break wouldn't last long. Kite saw it a second too late as he looked out into the nothingness a stone came flying whacking him right in the forehead ”gahh! What the hell " he shouted as he held onto the spot on his head that got hit, feeling the palm of his hand getting wet. He figured that there was probably cut on his head and wasn't happy about it, most likely his body temperature was starting to rise now from his anger swelling.

"Nah you don't owe me anything Cherry, I might not have been clear earlier." Kite spoke, causing a smile to break through the tensed muscles of Joyce's visage as she felt almost amused at his new choice of a nickname for her. Cherry.

'I like that fruit.' She thought for a second, then almost knocked herself in the head, realizing that this was perhaps the most idiotic chain of thought that should ensue in such a situation. She felt Kite's hand on her shoulder though and instinctively relaxed - heaving a soft sigh of relief and turning a glance back to face him. His next set of words were indeed reassuring, and the girl's nervous smile morphed into a grin of trust and playful mirth. She watched him take a seat on the log that had aimed to snatch her life just minutes ago, and couldn't help but feel a strong resentment against that piece of wood. Call her silly; but it was akin to a vengeful gut feeling.

She could see the coils of vaporous mist enwrapping the shaggy heads of the oak trees. They writhed around them like a conjuror’s milky smoke, sensuous and illusory. Sieves of mist caressed the lichen-encrusted bark, adding its phantasmal gas to the damp breath of the forest, it glided with deadly intent. It deadened sound, haunted glades and poured into empty spaces. A sepulchral silence overhung the hallowed ground where the trees dared not grow. Nothing stirred, nothing shone, nothing sang. A hollow echoing, like the hushed tones of a great, slabbed cathedral, entombed the wood.

The redhead chewed down on her lower lip, as something weighed heavily in her consciousness - like a premonition. Then it came. A swoosh of something heavy speeding through the air.

    Thwack!

A gasp from her partner's side and the female conjured up a brown, jewel-encrusted dagger in her right hand. She took a single step ahead and threw the small blade into the clump of bushes that the stone had flown in from. The sound of sodden wood splintering could be heard, as the dagger stuck into its innocent victim. Joyce raised up her dominant arm, a disappointed click of her tongue echoing in the depths of the Spooky Forest, as her weapon glided back into the strong grip of its master's fingers.

"No luck." She muttered, turning back to face Kite and kneeling next to him, "You're bleeding - is that okay with you or should we just dump this shit and return back?"

Kite was glad he was able to make the serious situation of being stuck in the dense and creepy forest a bit more bearable with humor in the form of nickname however the nickname didn't sink in and wasn't actually used until Joyce told Kite she owed him and he officially uses Cherry to identify her. He was more than happy to make her smile especially after almost getting crushed. The second that he placed his hand on her shoulder he was able to feel her tense muscles suddenly relaxed followed by a sigh that helped signified that she was much more calm than a second ago. That is when she glanced at him as he told her that he wouldn't let her die here and gave him a grin.

After Kite sat down on the broken log and did what he said he was going to do which was relax. He even had made sure to leave her room next to him if she wanted to join him but instead she gave the log a not so pretty look, then again if he was in her place and was almost smashed by a falling limb of a tree in a forest that was full of unnatural forces. Kite looked around from his position seeing if there was anything of interest going on but as far as he could tell the only thing out there were the trees surrounding them and the silence, the eerie silence that had been only broken by their conversations and the snapping and thud of the tree. However he was still sensing the strong force in the distance ”I wonder what that is...could that be the demon possessed girl" he said to himself during the small break he was taking.

The break had just barely started before weird things started to happen, Kite had a rock beamed at his head and it made contact cutting him. Kite didn't see it but he heard the dagger enter the brush and stuck into a piece of wood. Of course this didn't matter much considering now that it was pretty much confirmed that there was something supernatural in the forest besides their target and it, they or whatever it was was now coming at them. Cherry kneeled down next to him mentioning that he was bleeding and asked if he was ok with this or if he wanted to forget about it and head home. Kite released the pressure from his forehead and wipes the blood on his hand on his pants and looked her in the eyes. ”yeah I know I am bleeding.. And no I am not ok with it" Kite stood up and looked in the direction where the stone had come from ”but as much as I would like to just forget about this Cherry, they drew blood and pissed me off" Kite said as he took a few steps forward and let his aura surface and a white like flame coated his body ”and I swear I will burn this whole damn forest to the ground if it is what it will take to get payback on those bastards" Kite was tempted follow up with this threat. Kite turned back and gave her a grin ”you don't want to go home do you?" he asked her releasing the aura and calming down.

Keen yellow pools watched with a hint of apprehension as the blue-haired male wiped his blood-stained palm on his pants and matched her vision with his own. The attack had surely pissed him off, for there was anger reflecting in his expression and Joyce couldn't help but fing it hard to think that the seemingly cool-headed Kite had this side to his personality. It didn't particularly faze her, just a flick of a surprise, one could say. She took a step back when he stood up, accepting that the unnatural forces seeping the Spooky forest were indeed responsible for his current state an mood. Or more like, their actions were what ticked him off.

As he walked forth, a burst of strong magical aura wafted around his lithe frame and the red-head could feel the pressure on her skin. White flames wrapped him and she watched with interest, 'Demon Slayer flames.' A weak smile etched across her lips, and Joyce had that insatiable desire to pat her partner on the back and calm him down. True, being vexed about something gave you a purpose; or more like, fueled the fire inside you--- but it wasn't the ideal state to be in when carrying out an important task. She wished she could pour a bucket of water on him; snooze the raging fire.

She took the little moment of provokedness to observe his strength, gauge the depth of his power by comparing it to her own, 'Just a notch below.' She concluded, smiling a bit with the realization that the difference can be covered up in no time. And, regardless, when it came to hunting demons- she needed his expertise. He was raised by one, while she... Well, she was raised by people akin to demons - but, all that story for some other time.

"You don't want to go home do you?" The question made her expression morph into one of confusion; a puzzled one. It took about a second to understand what Kite was getting at, "No. I'm not that of a scaredy cat. Let's move on and kick some ghost or demon ass." Her statement was defiant, clearly slamming the fact that just minutes ago, she was drenched in cold sweat and also that she'd worried about her guildmate's well-being a bit too much.

With that sentence, the girl moved on- passing Kite's side and proceeding in the direction that he'd pointed out a while back. But there was something weighing on her conciousness, she knew it - like a premonition. Perhaps it was due to the gut feeling that the duo were being watched, or maybe it was just something else....

A low whistle, a flush of speeding air- it was warning enough, "Duck!" She cautioned, and jolted herself into a kneeling position, feeling a sleek arrow whizzing above her and then hitting a bunch of trees in the back. The moment the echo of the strike on wood was heard, a white breath escaped her lips and Joyce turned back to glance at Kite, "We're even now."

    ” "
After the sudden burst of anger which stemmed from wound that came from the rock being tossed at his face from an unknown opponent. It was when Kite turned back and looked at Cherry that he decided to let the moment of anger to passed. He allowed his magic aura and temperament to return to normal and had answered her question with one of his own by asking her if she was looking to go home. He asked her this for two reasons, the main reason be asked was he had to be nice to his teammate and also because he would come back later if Joyce didn't want to stick around. The second reason was to poke some fun at her which she seemingly picked up on. She told him no and that she wasn't that much of a scardy cat and she wanted to keep fighting the ghosts and deal with the demon.

Kite heard her answer and couldn't help but smile. That would be the answer he would hope to hear from a member of his guild and especially from a wizard of her talent. Kite might have had held his head when the rock hit him but he was well aware of how quickly she brought out the and threw it in the direction the stone came. There was also the fact that so far he has enjoyed her company so far and was looking forward to actually working with her in battle if the moment arrived of course. He watched as she walked past his side and continued onwards towards the erie source of power that Kite sensed and pointed in when they first entered the forest. Kite followed her lead and walked close behind her, he didn't want there to be too much distance between the two of them just in case the forest had other ideas for them.

It was like clockwork, he was able to hear the whistle but it was the sound of her voice warning him to duck. He didn't hesitate he quickly dropped to the ground in a sprawled like position next to her as she kneeled down. Kite craned his head to look back at the tree the arrow struck and gave it a stare. ”what sort of ghost uses an arrow? Deadlier than one would think" he said to himself. He broke his glare on the arrow when he heard Cherry speak to him telling him that they were even now. This made Kite ignore his anger and shot her a grin ”too bad he said right before he pressed his hands into the ground and pushed his body up like a push up and with his arms holding him up he sprang back to his feet. He extended a hand out to her to help her back to her feet”And here I was enjoying the idea of you owing me one"he said playfully. Kite then turned his attention back to the area they were going and gave a stern expression. ”I'm tempted to burn this forest down" he said.

Holding fistfuls of dew-laden grass in her hand, and propping herself on her elbow over the damp earth in an attempt to observe the arrow, Joyce's sight scrutinized the area of impact. She sighed in relief once again, while letting her arm slip from under her and laid flat - eyes gazing at the seemingly non-existent sky. The thick foliage of the trees grew so close to each other that it blocked a substantial amount of light. Every feet or so, only a thin sliver of pale-white moonlight could be seen and that was the only thing that illuminated the forest to the range of normal vision.

"What sort of ghost uses an arrow? Deadlier than one would think." The yellow-eyed mage heard her partner speak, and she immediately retorted, "Yup - the deadlier sort indeed." Her sight settled on Kite, while he stood up and expressed his disappointment at them being even. The red-head broke out into a smile, as she felt warmly glad that he was here with her in this adventure. The girl could hardly fathom the thought of being alone in this true-to-its-name forest, chill creeping up the back of her spine at the very thought. Sometimes, company, however short or brand-new it could be, held great significance in a scenario that was suitable to it. Fear was a formidable opponent, but when you have someone to share it with, the phenomenon feels much more diluted.

The blue-haired male had given out his hand as support, and Joyce readily accepted - pulling herself up and dusting her clothes of the dust and grime that had settled on it with a cringe mauling the generally bright and passionate face. She heard Kite's remark about burning the forest down, and couldn't help but let out a throaty chuckle, "C'mon now, our main objective is to find out what happened to the Knights - be patient till then." She spoke, while walking in the direction that were headed to earlier, "Still think we'll find someone there?" She asked, pointing a thumb behind her while pedaling backwards.

Before standing up after narrowly dodging the in common arrow Kite asked out loud what sort of ghost shoots an arrow which he speculated a deadly one to which Joyce agreed with what Kite had said. Kite helped Joyce up noticing the attitude coming from her, it was as if a weight had been lifted off of her and her warm smile was proof of it and of course his smile back to her was equally as warm for her. However even though the moment was a nice one to say the least something was bothering Kite a bit, something that didn't seem right about what had just transpired.

Kite was well aware of the existence of ghosts and them Having the ability to pick up and manipulate physical objects but without the use of a bow of some sort it was near impossible to throw an arrow at that speed and not to mention the accuracy of the arrow. It could very well be a coincidence but from the impact point of the arrow it was aimed for their heads and thatsm didn't seem like something a ghost should be able to do. Despite thinking this Kite kept his thoughts to himself and instead expressed his desire to burn down the forest entirely.

That is when Joyce reminded him about the reason they were there, to find information regarding what happened to the Knights who came to the forest as well as telling him be patient until they finished the job. She then continued to walk in the towards the strange energy signature from earlier, the same direction that the arrow had come from and then looked back at the tree that the arrow was sticking out of and then followed Joyce's lead. Kite started to pick up the pace so he was close to matching her speed before she turned to face him and pointed her thumb behind her asking him if they would still find someone. Kite crossed his arms ”I think so Cherry, however whether or not that someone is alive is another story entirely“ Kite paused and then locked his eyes onto hers ”not to mention there is a possibility we will also run into demon that was mentioned in the diary possibly the same thing that attacked the knight platoon“ Kite said but quickly followed up ”however seeing that arrow fly through the air might be a good sign, I never heard of a ghost having skills in archery it's possible a knight is out there and fighting“ he said finally sharing his thoughts on the matter. Kite's eyes drifted down thinking about it more, a lone knight trying to fight off the fear this forest induced. However Kite caught  something in his line of sight that instantly peaked his curiosity. Kite took a few more steps and kneeled down beside the path and put his hand down on the path examining an indent in the dirt that was shaped liked a footprint, or more accurately a shoe or bootprint. ” Cherry look, foot prints“ he said waving her over to take a look at it. ”judging by how deep the print is and how sturdy the path is whoever made this has some weight behind his step... You might be more familiar with armor than me, could a suit of armor be enough to cause this sort of indentation?“ he asked her seeking her expertise on the matter. ”I wonder if there are tracks, or maybe some clues to where they went“

The red-haired female bent beside her guildmate to observe whatever it was that had caught his eye, and she soon caught his articulation about it being a footprint - which, when her own sight adjusted to the darkness reigining in the forest, came out to be perfectly true. A well-defined mark was left firm and strong in the moist floor, such that it wouldn't be brushed away casually by the gust of zephyrs. The owner of it would definitely turn out to be a well-built person with the body of giant-esque human, as the size of the indentation was almost double the size of Joyce's foot. 'A soldier, perhaps?' She pondered, her thoughts reeling into Kite's theory of a few minutes ago. It was certainly possible that a few of the knights were still sure and safe in the depths of the Spooky forest, fending off animals and ghosts and demons alike - it seemed like a dull possibility initially, but the footprint cemented it in a firm fashion.

Ghosts didn't have footprints anyways, did they?

"Must be a Knight." She confirmed, while Kite expressed his doubt of the person donning an armour or not. And when she thought about it, it was a neat possibility as well; for it might just be a person with a normal physique wearing an armour. But a coat of metal still pointed to the identity of the person being a well-seasoned Knight, "Yup, chances of an armour being involved is pretty high."

Standing up swiftly, Joyce's optics scanned for the continuation of the footprints and she saw them treading deep into another part of the forest; a slightly curved way from the direction that Kite had been pointing out from the very beginning. She walked a few steps further, making sure that the prints continued for a good distance and turned back at her azure-haired guildmate, "Guess we should split up here. I'll follow these prints and you should go in the direction that your Slayer instincts beckon to. If either one of us needs help, we can always use the guild insignia for sending an SOS."

With that, and a small nod of trust, the young female would sprint after the succession of the footprints; her claret hair flying behind her in the gust of winds that caressed her due to the speed.

Kite looked up at Cherry who was now bent over to take a gander at the foot prints that Kite had managed to discover and seemed to have her own thoughts on the matter but it seemed that they had both managed to come to the same conclusion that these foot prints might belong to a knight, especially one who would be clad in armor. Kite watched as Cherry started to follow the foot prints which seemed to lead away from the path they had been following, the path that would lead to the strange energy signature ahead. She walked a good distance following the astray tracks until she spoke up saying that they should split up and volunteered to follow the prints while Kite would continue on in the direction they were initially going. Kite looked at the prints, back at Cherry and then back towards where is instincts were demanding him to go. "Well, I won’t say I don’t like the idea of us splitting up but it seems that there isn’t a choice, if we continue down this way then who knows what we might find lurking about but if we do then we might miss the chance of finding a survivor " he said out loud weighing out the options. Kite locked onto her golden colored eyes and smiled "good luck Cherry and be safe " he said as he turned and made his way towards the demonic presence he had been sensing since they had gotten there.

    " "
With Kite now on his own he had to stay alert now more than ever, the forest was far more dangerous than he had originally anticipated and he had the lump on his forehead to prove it. Kite looked back in the direction that Cherry chose to head in " wonder if there is actually something on the other end of those tracks we found" he said out loud as he trecked his way over the various vegetation and looked up as the concentration of evil grew the closer he moved towards it "that energy… it feels demonic but it’s off " he said remembering the feeling of being around Asmodeus he inherited the ability to be able detect and almost completely identify demons dependant on their energy and if close enough he could actually fully determine what sort of demon it was but this was different, this energy wasn’t pure demon, it was something else. Kite stopped in his tracks the second he picked up the feeling of being watched again and it was the same feeling he managed to pick up when he had the stone chucked at his forehead and when the tree almost crushed Cherry but it was much more intense, it was as if the closer he got to his target the evermore present the forces plaguing the forest began to swarm. Clicks and cracking could be heard all around him but a scream was heard and then the cracking of a tree began to become louder. Kite looked up as he saw a whole tree coming down towards and luckily it was slowed down by the various other trees buying him enough time to think fast and not looking to squander his chance Kite dove to the side and out of the way of the crashing tree. Kite rolled at the end of his dive and stood straight up looking around. "You tried that once already! but if you wanna play with fire I will be happy to oblige! " he shouted and started to inhale deep "Flame Demon’s Rage!! " he shouted as he leaned forward and shot a stream of hot white demon killing fire straight ahead of him catching tree, wildlife and hopefully catching some of those lingering spirits in his mighty blaze.

Kite looked over the damage he had caused with is rage attack and was pleased with the results, the annoying feeling of being watched was gone and for that matter it seemed that for the first time since entering the Forest things were completely normal, well that was until he took notice of the strange occurrence. Kite that feeling, the energy that he had been drawn to up to this point was no longer simply stationary now it was moving swiftly and most definitely in his direction. The area he was in started to become misty and it wasn’t a standard mist no this was dark and eerie to it’s core but soon that was all just minuscule compared what happened next. Kite’s gaze was refocused to the center of the mist where the mysterious malicious energy that had been acting like a magnet to the slayer was now given shape. Kite looked over the jet black figure that was now standing before him trying to identify what sort of demon it was by the demonic energy it was giving off but nothing he had ever felt before but the one thing that was for certain was the radiating danger that the creature gave off. Looking at the thing where it’s eyes would be he let his expression grow more serious "What are you? " Kite asked it but he didn’t get an answer from it, the thing just stood there swaying back and forth "I see, you aren’t the type to talk are ya? That’s fine I don’t have much to say to the likes of you " Kite paused and started to let his flames flare up from his hands "Tell me one thing if you can even understand what happened to Mary and the... " Kite didn’t get to finish his question for the nightmareous creature charged at Kite with a strike so swift he had almost missed the opportunity to dodge which he did by barely at that but followed up with a swift kick to Kite’s midsection which sent him skidding back causing Kite to cough from the hit. Kite held his ribs and looked up at the creature "I shouldn’t let it’s size fool me, for something so tall and large it is surprisingly quick and made good use of it’s longer reach. I don’t think I can go easy here " Kite used his golden key and quickly opened his gates and pulled out Ea. Kite charged in at it with his Ea in his hand towards the creature who answered his charge by calling forth two tentacles, one in each hand. The slayer swing Ea but the creature answered by blocking with it’s tentacles and swung with it’s free one to which Kite blocked with Ea but was pushed back. "Fine! Enuma Elish! " He shouted and pointed the tip of Ea at the creature as it started to charge it’s attack but right before he could fire it at the creature it used one of it’s long tentacles to redirect Ea which caused it to fire in a different direction altogether crashing into a few trees causing some damage to them. The second tentacle wrapped around the sword handle and yanked it from Kite’s grip with it’s superior strength and then threw it at Kite looking to impale him but Kite quickly opened put his hand up and all the sword met was the golden ripple of the gate and returned to it’s home.

"Fine. It’s time for you to dance… with the Devil " he said and unleashed his lineage which caused blue colored sparks flicker and crackle before he let his aura burst around him. The creature charged at Kite but his speed was now superior to the create and instead all it hit was the empty space next to the demon slayer and Kite quickly counter attacked, he encased his hands with his white flames and they took the shape of sharp talon like claws and he slashed at the side of the black creature "Flame Demon’s claws " he said before he spun back to attack again and slashed at the being’s back gashing and burning it’s back. It back kicked in response which Kite brought up his claw’s to catch it. Kite pulled it upwards causing the much taller creature to lose some balance as he spun bringing his outer foot behind the other leg of the creature sweeping it’s leg right from under him and as he completed his rotation he released the thing’s foot and used his other clawed hand and brought it down onto it’s torso and slammed it to the ground not only driving his claw into it but also slammed it on the ground. Sticking to his usual brutal style Kite brought his down pointing at the creature leaving a small space enough to gather his flames in for another attack. "Flame Demon’s Adramelech " he shouted as a large sphere of his demon energy erupted from the gap in his hand and impacted the evil creature and then caught it in the explosion which sent it flying several feet away. Not wanting to give it a chance to recover Kite charged at it looking to keep the pressure on it but it fired back with it’s tentacle and smacked Kite back and then tried to use it’s free tentacle to make his attack a combo attack. Kite grabbed it with both hands and held onto it tight and grinned "Flame Demon’s Wrath " he said and his white flames traveled from his tight grip up the tentacle and completely engulfed the being in his Flames which caused it to actually scream in agony from the heat of the flames. While the demon tried to deal with the overwhelming heat caused by the flames that had engulfed it he took a step back and smirked as he raised his hand and a circular field appeared "Flame Demon’s Inferno Burst " he said and fired 12 blasts of fire at the trapped demon catching it with all of it’s 12 projectiles. The creature was down hurting and down on one knee. "Time to end this and if this is Mary I’m sorry I couldn’t save you " he said as the white flames produced from his Demon Slayer magic started to swirl around his hands "Flame Demon’s Flamberges " he made a double slashing motion coincidently forming the two blades. Kite Charged and performed a double inward slash motion which the demon blocked with both of it’s tentacles but as soon as he felt the resistance he pulled back and went around making a pincer sort of move with it’s lower torso the target, it jumped back but was seared across it’s belly. He charged back in immediately and the tentacles of the demon started to come at him for close combat, Kite countered the strikes with both blades simultaneously not only blocking the strikes but literally searing through both tentacles separating them from the demon altogether with both blades connecting in a low stance. As soon as they dropped to the ground Kite made a reverse strike motion bringing the blades back up slashing the demon with both blades from it’s hips up to its shoulder creating a large X on it’s torso and for the icing on the cake not giving it a chance to make any sort of move and with Kite’s hands free from his swords he balled his right hand into a fist and threw a punch right at the Demon but instead a plume of flames shot out in the form of a large fist and hit the Demon dead on "Flame Demon’s Flare Fist! " he shouted as the spell pushed the demon back and exploded tossing the demon to the ground and decided to finish the onslaught of demon slayer magic as he inhaled "Flame Demon’s Rage! " he shouted as flames once again erupted from his mouth hitting the demon that was on the ground catching it in a small explosion.

Kite looked at the now sizzling demon as he started to walk up to it to finish it off, but before he could even attempt a final blow the thing jumped back up and backed away from Kite snarling at him for his blatant meddling. It started to back away as the mist surrounded it, "We aren’t done here yet! " he stated as he went to follow it but was stopped by it’s menacing voice “The nightmare has just begun, The gates will open” said leaving Kite with an ominous warning and then vanished into the mist which in turn also vanished. Kite looked around trying to sense it’s presence but it was gone completely " Here in a flash and then gone without a trace " he said quoting a song from a movie he once watched. While the demon was gone he was able to sense where it was and made his way in that direction but upon finding the spot where the demon was hiding out he also discovered what happened with to some of the knights sent here with the owner of the journal. Kite walked over to one and crouched down next to the corpse examining it"the knight’s throat… has been ripped out, and the armor’s breast plate is cracked and completely caved in. He was hit by something and with enough force to render his armor useless but it was his throat injury that was the killing blow. Well this is all I needed to see… the entire platoon must have been wiped out and that is no surprise " he said to himself and looked out into the distance "I will see you again… and i will reduce your corpse to ashes… but in the mean time I need to cremate these bodies and find Cherry ".
