    Job Link

Yona could care less who was offering up the job and asking for aid; the chance for gold, strong armor left behind on the battlefield, and a chance to use her skills for practice was enough of an allure. The willow haired woman entered the land prepared, wearing her usual knee high leather boots, shorts, and a cropped black halter top. The long hair she wore usually down was worn pulled half up, behind her head, ensuring that it would not be in her way during combat. Her large brown coat billowed around her red-scarred legs, secured at her waist with a single button, and open above and below to the cool air. Luckily for her the moon was round and bright and the sky was clear allowing the area to be filled with bright starlight. It was nearly dawn, early in the morning enough that Yona thought she could get the jump on both monsters and the men who hunted them.

The woman's mindset was clear, her lime green eyes were focused. She walked over the hard ground, listening carefully. The purple sky above, the luminescence shining over the dark ground, her other senses were going to be more of use to her here. She listened carefully, trying to hear in the silence of the gloam of pre-dawn. "Hmm," She whispered to herself, hearing the sounds of crackling against the ground, monsters or men, something was approaching.

"When I took this stupid job, nobody told me how shit the smell was in the monster-filled hellhole" Darius muttered under his breath, speaking to himself in what felt like the middle of nowhere.

Darius had taken a ride down to the Monsterland after hearing the Magic Council's plea for help. Well, the "need to eradicate monsters for the good of society" bit fell on deaf ears, but the, "he who should fight deep enough into the Monsterland will find treasure" portion of the message couldn't get this pirate on a boat faster to the damn place.

However, now that he was here, Darius found himself on constant edge. His sword hand had remained on the pommel of the sword that Ruvel had lent to him for this mission. Let's hope his sword is as good as he claims it to be, Darius thought in his mind. He kept pace, his gold-coloured eyes darting around his field of vision as to not let anything get the jump on him—despite the stupid name of the place, it remained to be extremely dangerous.

That's when he heard a large stomping noise.

Darius spun to the left, drawing his blade, and saw a large, no, huge elemental construct hurdling toward his direction. It seemed to be made from a combination of steel and stone, but whatever it was made out of, it definitely was tough. Darius grinned as it's height and seemingly huge weight, also happened to make it slow...or, slow compared to Darius. The construct drew it's arm back, ready to strike Darius. However, the olive-skinned mage had run between the monster's legs beforehand, and sending three swift stabs into behind the elemental's left knee. He smirked as it seemed to react in pain, kneeling from the wounds.

"You know, attempting to kill someone doesn't make a great first impression." Darius quipped, and as the elemental attempted to turn around and strike Darius again, he waited until the nearest possible moment before leaping backwards, the large boom of the construct's fist striking the ground echoing.

"Alright, you overgrown pebble, are you going to hit me or am I going to have to find some other less boring monster in this shithole?"

Annihilating the Hoards Empty Re: Annihilating the Hoards

Post by Zincarla 11th December 2017, 2:57 pm

A green whip of hair trailed Yona as she moved swiftly towards the sounds, climbing up and over a steep hill with caution. In a very small valley, she could see everything. A well-trodden path between the hills was taken up by a twenty foot elemental, but in the dark she could scarcely tell more detail than that. And down beside him, taunting and dancing around like a fool was a familiar face: Darius. She watched for a moment as he narrowly dodged the strike of a solid-elemental fist strike and presumed the ambitious male would get himself killed. Not that she could say much to that, she might judge him harshly, refer to him as an idiot, but in truth, she was no more sane than he, preferring reckless and speedy battle.

Yona's eyes scanned the area quick, the valley nestled in the shadow of the hills; the moonlight glittered off a nearby stream rolling through and from the far side she saw bulkier figures slowly moving in a line, approaching the valley across from Darius. They seemed to be winged humanoids of some type, and she sighed, "You're lucky you're in my guild." This was supposed to be her big event, her big time out of the guild to return with treasure and to feel admired in the bar on Divide Island. And here was Darius, trying to steal her glory. Still, Yona moved quickly then, charging down the easy slope: in her guild, it would probably be unforgivable if she had simply let him die out here.

Yona did two things simultaneously, well three if you include wishing she had actually shown up to the land with weapons and armor handy. She exhaled slowly, making her way down the slope as the minute and efficient chemical signals radiated from her body. They traveled swiftly on the breeze, attracting nearby insects to protect her in an aura of harsh buzzing and clicking. An enormous swarm of wasps surrounded her in a 15m radius, staying around 6 ft in the air so that when she sped into the battle, moving just past Darius, the wasps followed her and attacked the elemental, striking many times in any place that they could, biting and stinging.

Yona also bent as she moved down the slope, sliding her right hand over a boulder, announcing her presence when a vibrant green glow appeared and her Blade of Thorns was in her hand. By the time her insects attacked, and her body was positioned near to Darius, the woman took advantage of the elemental's bent positioning, running and leaping straight for it's back and stabbing the creature with her blade. "Making me come out here to save you?" She demanded of Darius, holding onto the blade as it stuck in the skin of the elemental, her legs braced on its back as the earthen construct stood flailing its arm in loud cacophony and moving backwards two staggering steps, vulnerable and angry she imagined. And even then, the air was dense with the sound of wings as the swarm struck again, moving as one to go after the elemental.

Yona used UA: Gather Plant Allies: Can emit magical based chemical signals to summon a natural plant ally (like ants, beetles, wasps) to the area to deal damage and protect the user. This is an insect swarm aura that just deals 25% your rank in damage within burst range or less around you. This can be applied once per turn and do not affect the allies of the user.

A sly grin was embedded on Darius' face, ready to leap into the battle once more. His opponent was already crippled from the several blows inflicted onto it's knee. The construct may not have had a proper face, but Darius could tell that it was far from happy. He was just about to charge once more before he heard the buzzing from what sounded like a swarm of bugs. The Desierto mage was just about to spin around and slice the bugs, thinking them to be more enemies, but the swarm of bugs flew past him and attacked the construct. Confused, Darius turned around and saw a familiar face behind him: Yona Hisamori.

Darius grinned as she expressed her exasperation at her needing to "save him", the green-haired woman charging and sticking what looked like a bamboo stick into the constructs back, "Good to see you, green bean," The male nonchalantly greeted, "As much as I was handling the situation, it's always nice to see your pretty face."

Then, his golden eyes shifted back onto what he was meant to focus on: the elemental construct. He dashed forward at the flailing monster, and retracted his sword hand, aiming his rapier for the other knee, and sent three powerful yet swift strikes deep into the other joint, before yelling to Yona, "I know you're having fun with your little piggy back ride, but get the hell off of the giant monster and start stabbing it's head!"

His previous attacks had rendered the elemental construct immobile once more, getting down on it's hands and knees, providing enough of a horizontal base for Yona to run up it's back and attack it's head if she chose to. Darius ran as quickly as possible to the construct's right arm, and while running past a few of the bugs, he admittedly swatted a few away out of instinct. Once he had reached the arm of the construct, Darius slashed at the elemental twice, making an X-shaped cut before plunging Sovesir Mitne into the monster's joint. A dissonant, almost artificial wailing noise echoed from the construct. Darius tugged at the sword, but it had become stuck into the elemental as he muttered, "Ah shit."

Darius began to pull at the handle, but the construct had realised what was happening and attempted to bat away the olive-skinned mage. Luckily, Darius dodged the arm by jumping back, and falling back onto the ground, the sword still stuck into the monster's elbow.

"Damn monster." He groaned, and as the elemental's arm got to a closer distance, Darius jumped and grabbed hold of the handle, his feet pressing against the monster's forearm and pushing against it as hard as possible, finally pulling out the sword from the monster. As Darius yelled, he looked to Yona and yelled, "Kill the damn thing already!"

"Green bean!?" Yona shouted incredulously, holding onto the hilt as the monster fell forward, landing on its hands and knees. She jerked her Blade twice and growled, noting it was seriously stuck. Even as she finally eased the weapon out of the back, a small sigh escaping her lips, her swarm of wasps attacked again. The bugs dove in and attacked the injured elemental. The green haired woman shot Darius a scowling look, regretting coming down into the valley to help. His mouth was uncontrollable and one of these days she was going to take a chance at punching him in it.

Her energy focused elsewhere however, the female jogging up the back of the monster and trying to keep balance as it thrashed a little more. She found the place where a neck might have been, if elementals had necks. Her Blade of Thorns sank in and out of the neck, three times, as she hacked away at the thick terran skin, pieces of stone and dust falling like pebbles to the ground. "Don't tell me how to fight, damn it!" That man had a serious problem with his mouth being open all the damn time. It was then that Yona felt the elemental move quickly, surprisingly so, getting to its feet.

Yona fell nearly six feet off the creatures back, green scimitar in hands, landing hard on her own back. She considered herself lucky to not have more than bruises from this encounter. The creature had moved again whirling on the green eyed female, setting it's sights on smashing her with both of its fists. Yona's wasps zipped in and out, striking and dealing damage to the monster, but nothing which seemed to slow the creature down. She quickly started crawling backwards, staring up at the massive twenty foot tall being. She scrambled backwards, finding herself backing into the wet stream she had noticed earlier. Her expression soured even further as the water soaked into her dry clothing.

The fists of the slow being crashed mere inches in front of Yona, blasting through the ground and leaving a crater like hole. She coughed as the dust and dirt sprayed around her. She did what any sensible woman would do. She leaned forward and used her blade to hack at the arms of the creature: first left to right, and then arcing back over the same path. "You're the one who pissed it off! You kill it!" Yona demanded, calling out to Darius. She didn't want to admit and likely would lie if it came down to it, but she needed him to back her up before the elemental lifted its massive arms back up. She didn't want to get hit directly with a blast from the monster's massive arms.

What she hadn't picked up on was the trio of half-dragon giants slowly sauntering into the valley. They had heard and seen the fighting, deciding to play it smart and see if the elemental could simply rid the area of the two mages without spending any effort on their part. But the three creatures eyes were watching from about 300 feet away, the large shadows falling behind them as the sun colored the dawn sky in a peach hue. The trio was white in color, silver scales here and their on their tails and wings.

"We can sort out our cute pet names for each other later, right now let's kill this damn thing." Darius responded, shooting Yona a playful wink before attacking the elemental.

As his attacks to the elemental's knees weakened it once more, he grinned as the green-haired mage, although once again displaying her sour attitude, did what Darius both expected and wanted her to do when fighting the large construct, balancing her way to it's head and stabbing it repeatedly. As she voiced her (usual) abrasive persona, Darius quipped, "I can tell you to do other things but this is neither the time nor place for it."

He put on his signature smirk and then added,"...unless you ask nicely."

However, as the construct seemed to recover and regain it's footing, despite the multitude of attacks beset on it by the two Black Sails mages, it seemed to have set its sights on Yona. Darius had just landed on his feet and recovered Sovesir Mitne, before seeing the other mage crawling backwards, about to get pummelled by the monster. Darius charged at the monster, but not before noticing her wet clothing. Hehe, nice. He noted in his mind, before continuing onto his opponent.

The construct was severely damaged, slash and stab marks surrounded the entire creature. Darius realised that it didn't have much longer before it died, so he pointed the tip of his rapier towards the creatures leg once more, and stabbed, then dragged the blade around the being's entire leg, creating a large slash gash on the elemental's leg. Darius, now standing in between Yona and the construct, removed the blade before jumping, retracting his arm backwards, and impaling the chest of the elemental with as much strength as he could.

The monster cried out one final cry of pain, before falling silent. Its body went limp, before crumbling into many small grains of sand. Darius fell back onto his feet, slashing the sword in an arc to get any dust off of it, and looked back at Yona. "I know that my behind is pretty and all, but you can stand up now."

Darius turned and offered his hand to his fellow mage, and regardless of whether or not she took it, he would chuckle and say, "You know, the wet and dirty look suits you, green bean."

He looked around, observing the surroundings of the landscape, before noting,"That fight of ours wasn't quiet, and since we're knee deep in monsterland, I have no doubt that it caught the attention of something. We should move."

Darius then saw something approaching from the distance, he couldn't discern the proper size of it because it was so far away, but he had an inkling that whatever it was, it was coming for the two of them. From what Darius could see, it was a trio of unknown species, and it was flying in their direction, and the young mage's instincts told him that if something in the Monsterland was headed in his direction, it's not a coincidence.

"Yona..." He would say, narrowing his eyes at the incoming beasts, "Something's headed in our direction."

Annihilating the Hoards Empty Re: Annihilating the Hoards

Post by Zincarla 12th December 2017, 6:23 am

Yona's blood began to boil and itch underneath her skin. She wanted to kick Darius square in those perfect smiling teeth of his. All his quips weren't helping; the woman was actually very good at communicating, dealing with the men in the taverns and bars was just part of the job when it came to getting information. It also didn't help that Yona was extraordinarily attractive, something in her lineage blessing her with the looks of a succubus on a good day and a royal queen on a bad day. But the green haired woman was not dressed in her finery sitting in a local sake house flirting for news and information, she was sitting doused by the stream covered in dust. And all the while, the woman was being taunted and flirted at, sitting there looking angrily up at the man whose final move had been to slay the elemental.

"This isn't the time or place for your flapping lips either, but if you don't shut 'em I will be sure to," Yona threatened with ease. When he extended a hand to her, she deliberated half a second before grasping his hand and pulling as hard as she could, hoping to drop him into the stream next to her. He deserved it. Yona would get up to her feet on her own, whether or not he fell, and move to squeeze the water from her coat sleeves. She held still her Blade of Thorns in her right hand. "I'll have you know, I saw them already," Yona began, "Three half-dragon species, not sure half what else. Get ready, they are coming in fast."

Yona placed her Blade of Thorns in her teeth, a brief choice given how heavy the weapon was for her small mouth. She lifted her hands and dropped them downward, enshrouding the area around them for 15m in what appeared to be rain. However, the rain was really sticky dew: her Sundew Mire coating the area. Not that it would affect her allies, but it had a slow down affect on enemies in the area and as an added bonus, warped the line of sight so that the first two or three attacks, depending on the intelligence of the creature, would be askew from its mark. The Mire forced Yona's wasps to leave and take shelter, but from the ground emerged a secondary swarm, as the green haired woman released a new layer of chemical signals, the kind that no human nose could smell.

The beetles flew upwards off the ground a short distance, latching onto the feet, tails, and ankles of the first monster heading their way. As their pincers bit and struck the ankles and tail, Yona moved the Blade back into her hand. "Your turn, hot-shot." No sooner were her words out of her mouth, than the first monster opened its mouth, breathing an array of ice towards Darius, a mere 15m (50 ft) away and twelve feet in the air. The other two were still 30m away, (100ft) and not in range of either her Mire or her swarm of beetles.

As Darius' continuous remarks got more and more on Yona's nerves, he simply smirked in response to her threat, shrugging casually before offering the woman a hand. However, when she took his hand, she deliberately yanked him down on the ground, the mage falling into the stream, his clothes getting soaked, Sovesir Mitne clattering onto the ground beside the stream.

Darius frowned, more than a little annoyed that his clothes were soaking wet, but then grinned as he quipped again, "You know, if you wanted me to take off my clothes, there are easier ways than this."

He flashed a quick grin before unbuttoning his shirt, revealing his lean, muscular frame. His features were accentuated by the glistening water on his chest. Darius knew he looked good, and he loved it. He shook his head, his flowing white hair letting loose before running a hand down his scalp, slicking back his hair.

"Like what you see?" He asked coyly, before wringing his shirt to squeeze the water out of it.

However, the playful banter (Darius' playful banter at least), subsided when he noticed three monsters heading their direction. He quickly slid on his usual button up white shirt, rolling up his sleeves. As the mage noted about the incoming enemies, Yona matter-of-factly stated that she had noticed them earlier. Raising a brow, he irritatingly asked, "Why the hell didn't you tell me about this sooner?"

As Yona conjured up a spell which seemed to conjure rain, the Desierto mage couldn't help but ask, "What is this spell meant to do?"

However, the reply would've had to come quickly since the monsters had already arrived, one hybrid ahead of the other two as it aimed and fire a blast of frost from it's mouth.

"Shit!" He yelped, jumping away last minute, dodging the blast.

What the monster hadn't realised, however, was that it had coated itself in Yona's sticky sap. The monster attempted to swoop in nearer to the ground, and trying to strike Darius, but ended up missing because the sap got into its eyes. The swordsman grinned So that's what it does, Darius said in his mind, before charging at the beast.

The hybrid giant, stood roughly half the size of the elemental construct, and would've been faster than the construct if Yona's spell hadn't affected it.The first hybrid went in for another attack, attempting to punch Darius, but he managed to duck under the beast's arm and thrust Sovesir Mitne into the beast's elbow, allowing the blade to dig in into the flesh, blood squirting out of the wound before Darius twisted the handle of the rapier, further wounding the hybrid. Before it could have the chance to yank away its arm, however, Darius ripped out the blade, causing more blood to squirt out of it's elbow.

The monster, crying out in pain, grasped its damaged elbow; the entire arm seemed to be neutralised because his forearm was limp. Darius grinned, not letting another moment be wasted for this poor sod of a hybrid, and began to cut at the beast. The white-haired mage took advantage of his rapier's low weight to begin to repeatedly jab at the half-dragon: once, twice, three times, then four. The beast was about to let out another roar from its mouth, but Darius knew better and combat rolled to the left side of the monster, and sending two swift jabs into stomach. The sap seemed to have slowed the beast, and none of its attacks were fast enough to strike the nimble Black Sails mage. Blood was oozing from the many wounds that had been inflicted by Darius, and the beast was panting.

"Let me put you out of your misery, mutt." Darius said coldly, before slashing at its chest, then running in for one final stab, impaling the monster and killing it. He pushed the half-dragon, half giant, off of his blade, then looked at Yona.

What he hadn't realised however, is that during his battle, the two hybrid giants, one around 12 feet tall, and the other one 15, were slowly pacing towards the green-haired mage. The sap had slowed them down, but it seemed like Yona was going to need his help.

Annihilating the Hoards Empty Re: Annihilating the Hoards

Post by Zincarla 13th December 2017, 9:34 pm

Yona opened her mouth slightly as he opened his shirt and made his comments. She closed it and shook her head abruptly, there would be time to deal with the hotshot later, but now the monsters were closing in. "I didn't tell you because I think you're a jerk." Yona chuckled twice and flipped the hilt of her Blade around in her hand. She licked her lips, tasting the dew clinging to them. Rinsing off was largely pointless when the air was full of her Mire spell. The green haired woman dashed forward, boots pounding at the ground, moving towards the pair of monsters which sought her out specifically.

The dew clung to their wings, slowing their speed just enough for Yona to work on them. Her aim would be perfect, as well as Darius'. She didn't doubt he could handle one of them, and with her beetles flying upwards to latch on both of the other two flying half dragon giants, she was sure she could show him up. Yona kicked off the ground, lunging for one of the white monsters. She grabbed a hold of it's tail with her left hand and wrapped her legs around it, holding it with a large cling. Her right arm however slashed back and forth over the monster, aiming for it's large flapping wings. Disoriented, it was slow to react, plus from her angle it was not well suited to fight her. She struck each wing once, and then arced back for a second hit, cleaving one of the wings nearly off its body. As the monster careened towards the ground, Yona lifted her Blade of Thorns again, sliding it in and out of the monsters broad back.

Yona was sure she had hit it enough, judging by the amount of blood produced, the crimson staining the white skin and scales. She breathed hard, looking over her shoulder at the white haired mage. "How about that? Killed it while it was... flying!" The green eyed young female was moving closer to the ground as the dead monster fell, and she leapt off, aiming to catch herself on her own two feet. By leaping off, however she put herself in actual danger. The second had watched the encounter, circled back, and prepared a breath attack on her. Yona had assumed that the Mire would slow it enough, but lining up such a large shot on the falling female was easy to do with her. She was annoyed that she had put too little forethought into this plan. Yona had nowhere to go, no way to block so much ice coming her way. She dropped her blade and brought her arms up protectively over her head, then crashed into the ground. Of course, the one she had struck was damaged and now unable to fly, but to Yona's surprise when she lifted her head, the creature was still alive.

"Well aren't you the prime example of taking the high road." Darius jabbed sarcastically, before engaging in a battle against one of the hybrid giants.

As the Desierto mage stood triumphant, proud that he was able to fight one of these damn huge things head on. He flashed a grin at Yona, about to make another quip before realising she was flying in the air, "Yona!"

He ran to her aid, watching her get struck by that frost breath attack, he grit his teeth, pissed that he was so caught up in his own battle that she was outnumbered and had to deal with two on her own. Guess she's a lot stronger than she seems, he noted in his head. Darius' eyes darted towards the giant that Yona thought had killed, realising it had been damaged, he decided to quickly finish it off.

Darius sprinted, and retracted his arm so that the rapier would be ready to strike, the sword being pointed at its chest. The half-dragon giant let out a fierce bellow before attempting to strike Darius, but once again, he dodged. Darius grinned before sending three precise and quick jabs into the its stomach. The giant jumping back in pain, grasping its wounds but Darius remain unrelenting, and jumping up, retracting his arm once more before sending a deep stab into the giants throat, the tip of the blade coming out of the other end.

Darius ripped the blade out, hopping back down to the ground before kicking the now limp body down to the ground. He then apologised mockingly, "Sorry for stealing your kill."
He jogged back to Yona, examining her and asking, "Are you okay?"

Darius then flashed a ferocious glare at the final half-giant, "Suffice to say, he won't be."

He then charged at the beast, with the half-dragon giant charging back at him. It swung its large arms at Darius, who ducked under the blow. He then quickly glanced at the beast's knee, before thrusting Sovesir Mitne into the beast's knee, brutally twisting the blade to get that leg out of comission. The giant roared in pain, about to unleash a breath attack, but the dew which slowed it allowed for enough time for Darius to sidestep towards the monster's back, and chopping off both of it's wings with two swift strikes.

Darius grinned as he realised these beast's weak points before shouting to Yona, "Aim for the wings and legs! Once those are gone, they can't fight back!"

The monster, now wingless and with a limp leg, had collapsed onto the ground, in a desperate attempt to fight back, it fired another roar at Yona. However, the dew allowed enough time for her to dodge the breath attack easily. Darius, seeing this, decided to repeatedly slice the beast. He slashed as many times as it took to finally kill it: once, twice, three times, four, five, and then six times. The monster was just ready to die, Darius aimed the tip of his blade at the monster's head, before he was suddenly knocked forward by the brute force of another half-dragon giant.

    It brought friends too.

Three more half-dragon, half-giant hybrids entered the fray. Darius, who had been knocked back a solid four meters away, groaned in pain, getting up on his hands and knees. Luckily, since they didn't know about the effects of the Mire, they were affected by it.

"Is there any fucking end to these things?" He asked, regrouping with Yona, "Got any other fun tricks up your sleeve, green bean?"

Annihilating the Hoards Empty Re: Annihilating the Hoards

Post by Zincarla 14th December 2017, 11:38 am

"I'm just a little sore, I'll be fine," Yona said shrugging off her injuries. Her torso had taken a large part of the hit, but she had been lucky that her coat and steelwood fan had protected her. It didn't take much to injure her, that she knew, from all her years of being reckless. Yona was surprised, genuinely, to hear concern in his voice. It was real concern too, not the kind of concern a person strolling by might have, and not the kind of concern she had heard come from the voices of too many people who thought they might have something to gain by helping her out. Yona's words were also sincere, lacking in taunts and malice and she blinked at him as he moved away, going after the third giant. Was this what it was like in a guild? Is this how all people in a guild acted? Or... was it it just... him?

That being said, Darius had gotten the bulk of the final blows and with his weapon he was moving faster and hitting more than she was. Her lips twisted unhappily at that, considering this was supposed to be her chance at showing him up. She considered the weapon and scoffed, "Is that thing even your's you little thief?" Yona responded to his oh-so-helpful quip about weaknesses. She rolled to the side, dodging the half-dragon's last attempt at a breath attack sent her way. It was obvious that without their wings, the monsters were disadvantaged. Why did he think she jumped up onto one in the first place? She rubbed her chest as she stood up, feeling the stinging cold there. She'd live, but she would need to be more cautious.

Especially when a second contingent of half dragon giants showed up. She knew her mire wouldn't be long efficient, and for this she called out a warning, "Don't depend on my spells so much. They don't last forever, you know?" Hopefully he got the message while she was on her feet already considering her next spell. Her beetles had continued swarming in the area, latching onto the three new beasts and feasting on their skins, biting and gnawing at bellies, tails, legs, and wings. She admired the little guys tenacity, her body still pumping out the chemical signals that told the little ones to attack.

Yona left her Blade of Thorns by her feet, attending to the situation at hand. She aimed her next spell with her left arm, stretching it out in the direction of the monster who had knocked Darius over. This white beast had been close enough to the ground in his downward strike upon Darius that Yona knew her spell would fit just right here. Her hand flicked up, fingers touching, and from beneath the beast at an angle, three long sharp, and unusually large shoots of bamboo thrust up from the ground and through the legs and belly of the beast. One through each leg, bent at a smaller angle, preventing the creature from moving for a short time (one post), and the third delivering a critical blow to the soft stomach of the humanoid being.

The other two circled around, choosing to walk on the ground, standing at 12 and 6 o clock, exact opposite, circling Darius and Yona like a pair of hungry sharks. The one closest to Yona had gleaming blue eyes, standing and moving in a half moon to her left, about 10m away. The other had small tiny black eyes, and moved like a mirror of his brother, to Darius' right, 10m away. Their claws left imprints in the soggy ground, and their movements were slowed, but it seemed that after watching the previous battling, they knew the rain was no ordinary rain-- and they were counting on it to end soon through Yona's warning for Darius. The two didn't seem interested in wasting strength until then. "Stop calling me that, I swear, Darius!" She called out to him, her back facing him as she turned to fully watch the blue eyed fiend. The beetles continued munching away, biting, chomping, pinching, but the monsters paid them little mind.

As Darius ran to the injured hybrid, he quipped in passing, "I can make you a little sore in a different way later on, if you'd like," reverting back to his usual flirtatious, douchey self. He was genuinely concerned for Yona's care, but sincere feelings were not exactly something that Darius liked displaying.

"Nah, Ruvel let me borrow his sword," He commented slyly, amidst attacking the half-dragon giant, "I didn't expect someone like him to own such a fine sword, when I first met the guy, I thought he was a klutz...and a woman."

However, as Darius was knocked forward by another trio of these monsters, Darius had felt the wind knocked out of him, and beat his chest with his free hand to get himself recuperated. "That wasn't too nice." He muttered under his breath, standing back up and walking back to Yona.

When the green-haired woman informed Darius that the mire wouldn't last much longer, he nodded in acknowledgment, responding with, "I figured it didn't have much longer, we should make the most out of this, eliminate them while the dew still slows these fuckers down."
Darius watched as she dropped her weapon, and raised her hands up, pointing them at one of the half-dragon giants, his eyes widening in surprise as huge bamboo shoots impaled one of the creatures and trapped it in place, "Well, that answers my question."

With one of the monsters immobilised, Darius looked towards the two that had encircled the mage duo, "You take care of that one, and I take care of this one?"

Darius then charged at the one of the beasts that had attempted to flank the mages, ready to strike one of its weakpoints. The giant, in response, released its breath attack on Darius. However, since the dew was still in effect, Darius had enough time to dodge the attack once more.

After essentially killing three of these things, Darius had figured out what he had to do to kill these things quickly. Darius first thrust the blade into the monster's knees, making sure to twist the blade to properly take out the joint, before pivoting away, ripping out the blade from the knee. The monster attempted to bat away the swordsman, but all it managed to do was leave its elbow open for another attack, Darius retracting, then thrusting the blade into its arm, the blade exiting through the other end of its arm. He quickly pulled out the blade, glaring at the beast as it roared in pain.

Darius started to hack at the creature, slashing at the beast's chest, dodging when the giant tried to bat the swordsman away. Its injuries, especially with its disabled knee, had caused the monster to be much slower. He ended up striking the beast another five times. Darius finished off the monster by kicking it as hard as he could, causing the giant to keel over, then shoving Sovesir Mitne up the beast's jaw, skewering its head.

The warrior grinned as he slid the blade off the now dead creature, looked towards the immobilised creature, and started walking towards it to finish it off. The monster had noticed and quickly began to attempt to rid itself of the bamboo shoots that had impaled it. It was desperately batting at the thing, which only seemed to injure it further. In a last ditch effort, the monster let loose a breath attack on the bamboo shoots, freezing it solid. The monster then shattered the shoot with its arm, and although it was no longer shackled, pieces of the bamboo still remained impaled into the beast. It began to charge at Yona, forcing her to deal with two of these opponents.

"Shit!" Darius cursed, sprinting after the beast to make sure it didn't get the jump on Yona.

    "Yona, watch out!" He shouted.

Annihilating the Hoards Empty Re: Annihilating the Hoards

Post by Zincarla 16th December 2017, 6:28 pm

The gleaming blue eyes of the half dragon giant met the fierce gaze of Yona's lime green orbs. She didn't blink even as time went on, turning to face the dragon beast even as it circled her. Yona's beetle swarm clicked and clacked, still latched onto the beast she had restrained. She lifted her Blade of Thorns, wishing she had two blades, but the female could wield it well enough here. She waited until the beast began to turn, slowing, clearly making up its mind whether to attack or keep walking. And then Yona reacted swiftly, bringing her blade before her, holding the hilt with care. Yona was too busy to acknowledge the talkative ramblings Darius was making.

Yona sprang forth, dashing quickly as the Mire faded away. The dew still lingered around, everything drenched and wet, but it was ineffective at slowing or hindering the aim of these creatures any longer. The green haired woman pushed forth and watched the half dragon take a half step forward, lifting its brutish hands, waiting for her to be in range. She continued to run, and as the claws came towards her she dashed to the side, dodging one, and then jumped over the second, slashing her blade backwards over the arm of the beast below. When she landed, Yona struck her blade twice at the elbow and then dashed forward to slash it across the belly of the dragon. She felt it grab her around the waist and pull her out of range. And then, several feet from the ground and being held in the clutches of the beast, Yona hurled her Blade forth, aiming and striking the neck of the monster. It fell over dead, pulling her down with it.

She fought with the hands of the beast, prying them off her waist. Her beetles continued their attack, still biting and pinching the monster who had been disabled. "Hey, let me go," Yona grumbled, kicking herself out of the grip. She rolled over onto the ground, a ridiculously lucky move. She heard Darius' shout and when she looked up, the arm where she had been, had been covered in a spray of ice crystals. The third beast had gotten free and let loose another breath attack on her. She gasped, impressed at her own luck. She felt her mouth go dry and then threw herself into a second roll. She had to grab her Blade from the throat of the dead giant- but with the other in range to smash her to pieces, it was a serious gamble.

When Darius took yet another beast down, and left the immobilised beast to rip out the bamboo shoots which had impaled and trapped it in place, he bit his lip harshly. The swordsman had taken his sweet time making his way to the dragon-giant hybrid to make it fear for its life, but that just provided it the will to break free. Now, it was headed towards Yona. Furthermore, the mire which provided a solid advantage for the mage duo against these beasts was gone.

The monster began charging at Yona, who was on the ground without her Blade of Thorns, unarmed against to the monster that she had entrapped not too long before. Without that weapon of hers, Yona's magic was probably still undergoing a cooldown, leaving her helpless. Darius began running as fast as he possibly could, sprinting to make sure that the beast wouldn't pummel the woman to bits. The Desierto mage was almost there, however the beast had already reached Yona, and had raised its arms up, in preparation to beat the woman to death. It was about to slam its fist into Yona, but a figure got in between her and the attacker at the very last minute, the fist slamming Darius hard onto the ground. The sound of the impact of Darius' body being slammed against the floor reverberating throughout the area.

Darius, winded from the attack, was gasping for air before growling, letting out in between sharp breaths, "Is that...all you've...got?"

With Sovesir Mitne still in hand, he pushed himself up, but the beast had decided to kick him, sending Darius hurtling backwards, a cry of pain letting loose from his mouth. The bright side: the stupid beast seemed to have forgotten about Yona. The bad side: it had set its sights on Darius. The second blow had gotten him square in the chest, waves of pain ringing from where he had been hit.

Darius finally managed to get himself up, stumbling a bit from the blow to the head he had gotten earlier. Darius' golden eyes glowed with animosity, taunting, "Come at me, you overgrown lizard."

The beast roared in response, charging at the man, but now that Darius had gotten back on his feet, he was able to pivot and dodge when it attempted to swipe at him once more, now facing the side of the beast. Darius, rapier in hand, then sent three swift stabs into the side of the beast. He didn't stop there, however, the Desierto mage spun around to the back, and let out a roar of his own as he ruthlessly began to hack at the beast's back. He slashed brutally until it it stopped reacting, falling over dead.

Darius, still fazed from the two strong attacks that had hit him, walked slowly towards Yona, "Are you okay?"

However, after he finished that sentence, Darius stumbled and took a seat down on the ground, the hits from the beast really affecting him...although his sarcastic quips and nonchalant flirting continued, although from the way he spoke, the pain he felt was clear, "Did that...impress you?"

Post by Zincarla 21st December 2017, 10:42 am

Yona watched as Darius was hit instead of her. Part of her was actually glad about it, thinking at least someone hit him. To be fair, she didn't want him to actually get injured in the process though. It annoyed her that he jumped in front of her, and she shouted at him, "What you think I can't handle getting hit? I am just as good as you are, Darius!" But his attention was on the monster, where it was meant to be. The green haired woman strode over and reclaimed her Blade of Thorns. It dripped with the blood of the monster it had been stuck in.

Yona looked back up to see the white mage get struck down again, but she didn't bother to help. He clearly had it handled. Yona knew better than to steal someone's well deserved kill. As the monster died and Darius gathered himself, huffing and grimacing, Yona let out a sigh. To his question, she answered, "Don't be an idiot again. I can handle myself. Do me a favor, stay here and groan and moan in pain for a while." Yona chuckled, "I'll heal you up good after, but I need you to play prey for me while I set up my next spell. Your crying out should call out any nearby monsters to attack and that'll do us both some good, you'll see." The green eyed woman gave him a wink and then strode back towards the edge of the valley. She was about sixty feet away from Darius when she stabbed her Blade of Thorns into the ground and placed two fists together, starting her work.

Yona raced around the edges of the valley, moving fast and hard. As she moved she lay down an invisible line, one that had to be completed for her spell to be worth anything good. As long as Darius moaned an groaned, everything would go as planned. To the monsters nearby, his demise would sound imminent and easy; a predator could simply walk up to him and kill him with a blow, or so the beasts would assume if Darius did his part. Assuming that he did ham it up, whining and crying out over his injuries, Yona would make it about three quarters of the way around the whole valley when the shadows of five more monsters would appear. Two red half dragon giants besides two blue half dragon giants at the end closest to Yona, and at the opposing side closer to Darius, a single large elemental beast with dark black stone skin, rippling with burning embers and lava in every joint and crack.

Yona shouted to Darius, "Just a little more, keep it coming, don't move or attack. You got to look helpless!" No woman could have enjoyed saying so as much as this woman did. After all his haughty actions, if he didn't play along, her plan would not work. The monsters took their time, seeing the two mages as easy victims, not worth expending much energy. The half dragons and the elemental walked steadily into the tiny valley with its little blue stream-bed. And then, Yona finished her circle, stopping right where she had begun, driving one of her hands to the ground. She huffed hard, winded from the extensive running and speed she needed to lay out her Jabillo Alarm spell. It was essentially a minefield, and she had no doubt the monsters would walk towards Darius, and get hit multiple times, enough to make the beasts the easy prey for Yona and her guild partner.

In all honesty, Darius was hoping for at least a little bit of gratitude from the green-haired mage while he was getting his ass beaten by that giant dragon creature. Instead, all he got was Yona yelling at him how much of a dunce he was for protecting someone who can take a hit. She didn't understand that, as much of a womanising asshole that he was, Darius is loyal. His time in his mercenary company taught him that when you're in a group, you protect them with your life. After all, Darius wasn't being paid to just stand around.

After several hits, both inflicting and receiving, Darius managed to fell the beast, collapsing, but not before saying a solid quip towards Yona. Once again, however, the human version of a migraine decided to give the young swordsman a piece of her mind.

"Alright, alright. I'll be sure never to save you again, deal?" Darius huffed, his hand clutching his chest, which was still throbbing with pain.

"Also, to answer your question from before when I was getting my ass kicked for you, I know you can take a hit," Darius' tone was different, he was being serious, as opposed to his usual sarcastic, douchey persona that he loved to show, "But we're a part of a crew, Yona, we take hits for each other, that's what being a part of a team is."

However at the mention of playing the bait, Darius did a double take at the words, "Uh, excuse me?"

She just responded with a wink and whisked away to do whatever it was she was doing and Darius called out to her saying, "Are you fucking serious?!?!"

The injured mage sighed before unenthusiastically exaggerating his groans of pain, "Oh no. Help me, I am so defenceless...yayyyy...."

What a great reward for being a great partner, being dangled around as bait.
I mean, I know I'm hot and get everything's attention, but this is NOT how I wanted things to be going,
Darius thought, before seeing four more half-dragons arriving at he and Yona's little soiree.

"Well, 15 years of slavery, and 8 years of mercenary work leading to me being monster chow. That's anti-fucking-climactic." He muttered to himself, another large elemental construct also arriving and beginning to approach the man.

"Motherfuckin'.... Darius muttered under his breath, "If you are leaving me to die here, I am gonna fucking kill you, Yona,"

"If you're planning on doing something, do it NOW!" The swordsman shouted.

Annihilating the Hoards Empty Re: Annihilating the Hoards

Yona had heard his remarks but paid them no mind, focusing instead to release more chemical signals in the air. Tiny biting wasps had reappeared, swarming throughout the area, attacking  the two red half dragons before moving to attack the blue ones. The attacks were continuous and repetitive. And although they did damage, the beasts were persistent in going for Darius. His crying and complaining worked, but it sucked an awful lot, ruining Yona's big moment in part. She frowned slightly, feeling at first like it took the shine away from her spell, but then she shook her head. The woman knew how to put on a show without him.

The green haired woman stood, playing her arms and hands out like conductor at an orchestra. And just as she did so, the two red half dragon giants, two blue half dragon giants at the end closest to Yona, and at the opposing side closer to Darius, a single large elemental beast with dark black stone skin, tipped with a burning glow had stepped into her trap. As they walked towards the defenseless Darius, explosions went off in the air.

Dust, stones, sprays of water, and chunks of flesh rained out from the clouds of smoke and seed pod shells. The Jabillo seeds had lifted up 3m and then exploded, tearing through the flesh of the five monsters. The monsters had each set off the first of the pods and got hit with several seeds from her spell. With every step those five monsters took within the area, they risked another Jabillo seed pod going off and yet over and over again, the monsters took no heed. They took several hits from each seed pod they unleashed, not counting the biting wasps burrowing into the flesh of the half dragon enemies. They did not flee and roar and scamper with tails between legs. They went harder and faster, trying to get to Darius despite their grievous wounds. By the time they got to the injured mage, Yona was full out laughing, waving her arms around, looking quite insane.

The five bodies of the monsters fell, in various pieces, in bloodied heaps, showing to Darius just how much stronger Yona was than she had let on. By the end of it all, only one of those bodies still moved: the resistant elemental with glowing stone skin. She supposed with a lava elemental of some sort, Yona's plant based magic was not as deadly on a first try basis.

    "Holy...shit." The swordsman let out.

Darius watched in awe as Yona's magic decimated the monsters that were heading towards him, essentially destroying all of the half-dragon, half-giant hybrids and nearly killing the large elemental. The havoc that had just been wrought on these unsuspecting (now mostly dead) creatures was both impressive and terrifying all at once.

However, despite sustaining heavy damage, the elemental was still alive. Darius smirked, before standing up, feeling waves of pain emanating from where he had been beaten from before. However, he ignored it as he picked up Sovesir Mitne and charged at the elemental, desiring to finish it off.

Despite being injured, Darius still charged at the beast with as much energy as he did before. He let out a yell before wildly slashing at the elemental. The construct, still sluggish from the explosions it had just endured, was no match for the swiftness of the mercenary. The swordsman easily pivoted away from every attack thrown at him from the large elemental.

The elemental construct let out an inhuman cry, angered by the fact that it was going to die. It raised its two stony arms up, and slammed them down on the ground once more. Darius leaped backwards, narrowly dodging the attack. He grinned at its featureless face, before running up its grounded arms, jumping onto its back, and hacking away at it once more.

The glow of the monster began to fade, signifying that it was close to dying. A smile formed on the swordsman's lips as he quipped, "See ya, asshole."

Darius carefully stepped forward, aiming the rapier at the base of what was supposed to be the elemental's neck, before thrusting his sword arm forward. The beast let out a final cry, before it slowly went limp. The elemental construct fell forward, Darius pulling out his rapier and leaping off before it went down.

He then walked towards Yona, complimenting, "Not going to lie, for someone who has hippy magic, exploding seeds? Pretty cool."

The olive-skinned mage put on his signature smirk, before looking around the area and asking, "So, where to next, Yona?"

Yona breathed hard wiping the dust from her hands and turning towards Darius. She watched him end the elemental and nodded his way. "You like that!? Damn!!" It had to have been impressive to kill so many with a single spell. She stopped standing beside him and bent down on one knee. She grabbed up some soil and placed her other hand over her dirt enclosed fist. From the soil grows a woody stem and a large hanging fruit, pale in color and bumpy in shape. "Give me a minute, I have something that'll take care of what ails you. Just tell me you've got my back, yeah? I can't stop the spell once I have it started up."

Her hands glowed light green, as the stem continued to grow and the fruit began to take form. The green haired woman looked him over and then sighed. She considered to herself how long it would take to get her energy back enough to cast her most effective spells. "We're not bad as a team. We should maybe go on and kill a few of these lesser elemental things hm?" Yona wasn't afraid, but the monsters would easily overwhelm the two mages in terms of numbers. Better to handle the problem by going after elementals in quantity instead of monsters in general quality, in her opinion. Safer it was for them both too. She chuckled, farming the easy monsters and then leaving seemed like easy enough experience to work for rapport building in the guild.

"Don't worry, greenbean, I got your back." Darius reassured.

The swordsman watched as Yona grabbed soil, and magically sprout a plant from her hands, a blooming Drupe fruit appeared to be growing. His curiosity piqued at the reasoning behind her growing such a fruit and decidedly asked, "Not that I hate fruits...but why are you growing Drupe right now?"

Darius tightly grasped Sovesir Mitne, under a constant state of unease, the entire landscape of the Fat Monsterland having an unsettling nature, as if the duo were constantly being watched. Out of the two of them, he was the one who was more combat oriented, or at the very least, more skilled with a sword than she was.

The swordsman chuckled at her comment about them making a solid team, which was true, their abilities together have shined well, considering that the two had survived so many waves of opponents, he coyly commented "Are you finally starting to like me, Hisamori? I guess I'm finally wearing you down."

At her comment of hunting the elementals, Darius nodded, "I think it's safe to say that we've gotten used to killing them. Plus, we're both much faster than the constructs, we can definitely kill quite a few."

"Once you're finished with growing that fruit, you and I can go on the offensive."
