    Job Details:

Hands clasped tightly, Mashyuu and Kanix strolled through the Hunting Village. Mashyuu and Kanix had come together to a place where the Council didn't have a large reach. The two needed some time together to keep their bond strong. Amaia was with a new team mate Selah from Sabertooth as the two used similar magic and Selah had agreed to teach Amaia a little about their magic for the weekend. The sun beat down on Mashyuu and Kanix making Mashyuu sweat more than he liked to admit. "Ya know, last time I was here I killed a massive lion. I think it was thirty feet tall. I had just hit B rank as a Wizard." Mashyuu mused to Kanix while rounding a small corner in the village. "So why did you want to come here exactly, baby?" The man with brown hair asked. It didn't really matter to Mashyuu, the fact that he could spend some time with his love made him happy and that was all that mattered to him.

The pair found themselves standing in the middle of a large market area at the edge of the village, men and women shouting about things they were selling, doing their best to peddle their wares to whoever would pay them any attention. Mashyuu walked over to a woman and bought a rare wild flower that only grew near the village and placed the stem of the flower in the hair of Kanix, just over her right ear to keep her hair pinned back. The vibrant purple and petals of the flower glistened with a light dew for as long as the flower was alive, reminding Mashyuu of his loves command over water with her new Dragon Slaying Magic. Towards the center of the market a large crowd was starting to grow, a short man with white hair called out for everyone to gather round, for he had a fantastic story to tell. Figuring it couldn't hurt to check things out Mashyuu walked closer with Kanix and the man pointed to the pair. "LOOK! It's Kanix, Guild Master of Fairy Tail and Mashyuu, Ace of Sabertooth. Now now, your being together is of no concern of mine but would you like to step on stage, help with the next part of my story?" Mashyuu shrugged his shoulders and joined the man on stage. He explained that he was named Beanstalk and his twin lady friends were the Peapods and that they were a group of traveling bards. They asked Mashyuu and Kanix to explain what drew them to the guilds they were in and gave each of them a lacrima to speak into.

Mashyuu accepted the lacrima and looked out into the growing crowd. Easily two hundred people were starting to draw closer. Mashyuu opened his mouth and started to speak to the group, one by one the men and women dropped as the lacrima started to glow a violent green. Mashyuu dropped the device and looked back at the man with white hair. "Now, this just won't do. You were supposed to make the tower rise up completely. But with only one hundred dead..." Mashyuu started after the man but he clapped, he and the women vanished in a puff of white smoke and appeared on the ground as it started to rumble. a few moments later the sand under their feet split and the top of a tower lifted the trio up some three feet. "Well, we will see what is in this tower one way or the other. Thanks for the help Wizards, maybe next time you won't be so trusting." Beanstalk stated while his lady friends opened up a wooden trap door and dropped into the tower, leaving Mashyuu and Kanix standing in confusion. "Just once I want to go out and not have a nut try to kill someone." Mashyuu complained and jumped off the stage, his long grey cargo pants covered legs carrying him to the exposed tower.

Kanix chuckled as Mashyuu stated that he had once been to her former home as a means to get rid of a pesky lion that had been bothering them for many years. She was glad to see that her village was happy once more and that they were not forced to live in fear of that mighty lion anymore. Turning her blinded gaze upon the taller male, the woman give him a smile, but she hadn’t said a word to him as she did so. He would eventually find out the reason as to why she had wanted to come back to her chief’s village; though, she wouldn’t tell him. In a way, she had wanted it to be a sort of surprise to the man. Why she had wanted it to be a surprise was beyond comprehension, however. “You’re too adorable sometimes,” the woman responded to him, turning her gaze back toward the village’s main path as they entered. “You’ll also have to wait to know why I wanted to come here, but don’t worry, it’s nothing horrible, I promise you that.

As they walked deeper into the village, they passed through the marketing area, where people were busy selling and buying wares. They paid no mind to the duo as they walked through, with Mashyuu only stopping once to purchase a violet-colored flower to place in her hair. Her right hand reached upward to lightly touch the petals of the flower, making the water a clearer color as her fingers purified it of its contamination. The petals seemingly moved at her finger’s touch, thanking her for her ability to fix what had been ailing it the moment it had been picked. Her gaze would wander from Mashyuu to the growing crowd at the center of the village, and she instantly knew who was calling to everyone. A wide smile laced her lips and she pulled Mashyuu in the direction of the storyteller, scurrying across the marketplace at a fast pace. When she stopped at the edge of the group, the man at the center pointed toward the duo and called out to them to come gather on the stage.

Pulled onto the stage by her lover, the woman confusedly watched Beanstalk inquire what had drawn them to their two guilds. He proceeded to hand them a lacrima that they were able to project their voices with, and Kanix reluctantly took it from him. She let Mashyuu go first, watching as he spoke to the crowd, and one by one the people began to drop dead to the ground. A pained cry emitted from her lips and she took a step forward, reaching a hand out to stop the people from dying, but knew she couldn’t. Her gaze raked over the fallen bodies and she dropped down from the makeshift stage, striding over to the fallen men, women, and children. “M-Mashyuu. . .” she uttered his name out, her eyes never once leaving the bodies of the fallen people as she roamed them. Another whine escaped her lips, but it was quickly silenced as Mashyuu started walking away and Kanix reluctantly followed him into the tower.

    Notes:

With Kanix in toe Mashyuu silently stalked over to the trap door that Beanstalk and the Peapods had gone down. The wooden door was shut, but it looked like it wasn't really locked. Swiftly he dropped to a knee and placed his hand on the small metal ring of the trap door. His blue eyes looked up to Kanix and his voice rang out in a tone that held nothing but sorrow. "I'm sorry about what just happened but all we can do now is try to catch the guy who is responsible for this." He hoisted the wooden door open and it creaked loudly as Mashyuu stood and tossed the door back. It crashed into the sand covered stone towers roof and bounced before settling. The sheer cracking sound the wood made caused Mashyuu to wince in annoyed pain. Once his blood had stopped pumping hard he looked down and saw a broken ladder of wood that led down into darkness. His arm reached out for Kanix and took her by the hand and waist. "Hang on sweetie." Mashyuu said while he pulled her against him and jumped down the hole.

Mashyuu landed with bent knees on a hard stone floor and carefully set Kanix down on her bare feet. He looked up from the trap door the pair came in from and saw it was shut again as if it knew that someone had went through the portal. "...Magic, the really old stuff can be strange sometimes." Mashyuu muttered under his breath but didn't say anything more about it. His pocket started to vibrate softly and he pulled out the small orb of the world and held it up. It flashed a bright light and as the light washed over the room the pair were in the walls lit up, stones of pure magic began to glow like warm fire and lit up the room. The chamber the pair were in was circular and maybe one hundred feet around. The grey stone was covered in dust and against the wall was a set of stairs that went down in a circular motion.

Slowly Mashyuu walked over to the stairs and placed his foot on the first step. It shifted an inch or so down clicking softly and the walls slid back to reveal a series of arrows that looked like they could cross without hitting each other. Mashyuu looked back at Kanix and pointed to the ground under her feet while jumping down the steps. He tumbled hard down the steps to the second floor in a dizzy daze after falling some thirty feet in a circle. Up where Kanix was the walls started to shoot arrows at the beauty. The ground next to Kanix quaked and shot up around her, deflecting arrows, keeping her from harm for a time until the ground was littered with arrows and one final row expelled a volley at the woman.

As Mashyuu stopped in front of a wooden trap door, the water mage paused shortly behind him and peered over his shoulder to look. She watched him as he placed a hand on the door and opened it up, a loud creaking sound echoing into the air. Just as the sound had caused Mashyuu to wince from its loudness, the woman cringed at the noise as well. His words on the matter beforehand mattered the least to her right now, as the only thought on her mind was revenge on Beanstalk and the Peapods. "You're right," she murmured to him, "death isn't something that can be stopped, but justice can be brought to those who lost their lives." When she said this, Mashyuu looked to her and pulled her close, wrapping an arm around her waist and jumped down the hole. The feeling of falling wasn't the greatest, but the fall was short and she was set back on her feet in a matter of seconds.

He made a side comment about old magic, which slightly confused Kanix as she didn't know anything about old magic. In fact, she had never once thought that perhaps there was a magic out there far older than any other magic currently known. After all, magic had to have an origin just as everything did, but what that origin was, was beyond the magus's thoughts. "Old magic?" Kanix inquired, looking to Mashyuu as she spoke, curious to know how he knew what this "old magic" was. "There's magic that is older than what we currently know of? Well, I suppose that would be possible or how else would we have magic today?" Now, she was merely rambling on to herself about magic and its origins, becoming oblivious to both her husband and her surroundings. So much so that she honestly hadn't noticed the room had lit up until it was right in front of her face that she could see better.

She let her gaze wander from the lit up room to the man of her dreams, watching as he walked toward the stairs in the corner. A soft click could be heard as the stairs moved away and revealed a long row of arrows poised to fire off. In a matter of seconds, the arrows were flung from their place in the wall and heading straight for the woman. Mashyuu managed to pull up a barrier around her before the arrows had even pierced her skin, their heads crashing into to the living armor. Given time to make a great escape, the woman carved a hole out of the armor and slid to the ground, crawling across the ground until she reached the opening where Mashyuu had gone down. Kanix briefly looked around at the room before she pulled herself over the edge and dropped down to the second floor. The water mage landed heavily on the ground, nearly stumbling, but managed to catch her balanced and straighten herself.

Kanix dusted herself off and looked around at the second floor that Mashyuu and her were now on, curious to know where they were. "How far do you think they could've gone?" the woman questioned, letting her gaze rake over the area around them. It was just as the first floor, dirty, a bit rustic-looking, and overall, probably not that safe of a place to be. Luckily, there were no arrows in sight near them, so that was the better part about the second floor she supposed. She was rather sore from having army-crawled across the ground and flipped down through the hole to the second level. "Seems like they wouldn't have gotten that far with us being right behind them, but he had just up and disappeared on us." Shrugging her shoulders, the woman would start down the hallway, letting her senses guide her way through the tunnel.

The hallway would wind around the area for a while, leading them deeper into the ground the longer they followed it. So far, the place had been peaceful, nothing had disturbed them, but it was that that had set Kanix on edge. Something about this place was off to her, like it shouldn't be this eerily quiet. . . like something should be happening. Kanix kept her senses entirely alert, keeping close to Mashyuu and even weaving her hand into his while they walked. It was then that the sound of thunder echoed into the tunnels, but it was a strange sound of thunder, a constant sound. Listening to it closer, she would come to realize that it wasn't the sound of thunder at all, but of something rolling downhill. Her eyes widened in fear and she tugged on her lover's hand, "Mashyuu, there's something coming straight for us!"

The woman wasn't entirely certain as to what was heading toward them, all she knew was that it was something large and something heavy. If it was large, then it would likely bowl them over without much room to escape; if it was heavy, it would squish them. She wasn't certain how they would escape this ordeal and let go of Mashyuu's hand to feel along the walls for something of interest. Her hands skimmed the cold, stone walls, pressing against the bricks as she waited to see if a door would pop open. There had to be a trick somewhere, otherwise they were doomed to being crushed by whatever was heading there way. "I don't know where there's an exit or how we're going to get out of this situation, but if we don't, we'll be flattened like pancakes." A panic had settled in her voice, almost like she hadn't been prepared for such a situation on a job like this one.

    Notes:

"Don't let your quest for justice blind you to the world around you." Mashyuu spoke words of wisdom to Kanix, something that usually went the other way around but sometimes one had to change the status quo in order to keep the ones they loved safe. "Mhm, yes old magic. Think of it like this. Someone or something had to discover magic or at least bring it to Earthland. Do we even use that kind of power anymore? Who is that old to teach us about magic like that?" Mashyuu questioned. Over the past few weeks he had started to wonder about this but kept his thoughts to himself, even away from Ux...

When Mashyuu landed in a hard heap on the second floor he slowly rolled to his back and sat up as Kanix came down and dusted herself off. "You have no idea how glad I am that your safe. I didn't know if that... I'm glad you made it." Mashyuu spoke with concern lacing his voice. "How far did they get? It depends on the kind of magic they have I suppose. Could be in this chamber right now and just have some sort of magic that lets them hide well. Maybe they were never here to begin with. It's possible that they were using a spell to project themselves in a strange way." Mashyuu explained to his love.

As the pair walked down the hall Mashyuu felt Kanix entwine her fingers with his and hold him close. He could sense how uneasy she was in this place and maybe it was because of how confined the area was. He knew that she didn't like cramped places and a tower was both cramped and massive was the perfect spot for her mental condition to hit. He smiled at her until the vibrations started to roll through the ground. Mashyuu stopped and listened to the words of warning that Kanix gave him. He turned to face the danger that was coming. "Kanix, stay calm and find a way out of this hall, I'm going to try and slow that thing down or outright stop it." Mashyuu let her hand go and rushed back the way the pair had came.

Even if you try to eat it, the momentum will crush you. You will have to find another way to stop the boulder. Ux warned the Earth Wizard. Mashyuu took a deep breath and rubbed a bead of sweat off the top of his face. "Yeah I know that. I'm more worried about not letting Kanix get killed." Mashyuu shot back and stopped when he could feel the massive rock drawing closer while it rolled around the bend. Mashyuu lifted both his hands and focused hard. Defense was the name of the game in this situation and with any luck the bolder would be able to present Mashyuu enough power to recharge his batteries again.

One hand clenched and raised up, bringing a wall of stone up in front of the Earth Wizard some thirty meters away from him. He then backed up and pulled rock out of the ground and closed it up like a dome. Then he smashed both his palms together, clapping and causing four pillars of stone to rise up and try to block the boulder as it drew closer.

The boulder rolled down the hall and started to shake the hall hard. Mashyuu rooted himself in the ground and took up his mountain stance. "I am the mountain, I cannot be moved, nothing can stop me from protecting the ones I love." Mashyuu reminded himself and watched as the boulder smashed through his rock wall, barely slowing at all. Then the dome was smashed but slowed a little more. One by one his four pillars were destroyed and the boulder came at the Earth Wizard. Mashyuu placed his hammer in the loops on the small of his back, under his jacket and flexed his body.

As the boulder smashed into Mashyuu he grabbed the boulder, flexed and strained his body to try and stop the boulder. Instead it pushed him back and made the Slayer slide down the hall that Kanix was in. "Come on! Stop rolling!" He shouted at the boulder as he was forced into a back peddle. "YOU DON'T GET TO GIVE UP!" He screamed and took a large bite out of the boulder. Instead of eating it he spit the stone out and did so again as it continued to spin until he had made a flat edge. Slowly the massive rock came to a stop but only due to the flat edge and the the fact that Mashyuu was pushing against the stone as hard as he could.

Here it was, Mashyuu was trying to be the one that would give her advice when, in reality, she was far more wise than he was. Kanix glanced back at the young male and only shook her head, listening to the words that meant nothing to her. She was a wild woman, a savage, she knew nothing better than what the world taught her and what her father taught her. After hearing his words she would merely revert to her teachings as a young shamaness and throw them back at him. "The earth does not belong to the man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites a family. Whatever befalls of the earth, befalls of the man because man did not weave the web of life, he is just a strand. So, whatever he does to the earth, he does to himself and by killing those people - my people - he has hurt the earth."

A hurt expression was on her face, her bottom lip quivering ever-so-slightly before she turned away from Mashyuu. "Show each person the courtesy to choose their way of life and belief then respect it for yourself, so long as it does not harm another man, animal, or Mother Earth." She licked her swollen lips and shut her eyes for a moment, blocking away tears that were threatening to fall. "They were my people, Mashyuu. . . my people and their stupid voice lacrimas killed them!" she wailed, taking her lacrima and throwing it to the ground. In one fell swoop, the woman's foot crushed the crystal beneath it, shattering it into tiny pieces until they dug into her bare foot and caused it to bleed. "I pray to the Great Spirit so that I may speak quietly the truth of the world, listen to what others have to say, and to remember that in silence there is peace. Yet, when I do this, I receive nothing but the harshness of the world and how cruel the human race truly is!"

Kanix dropped her foot back to the ground and turned toward Mashyuu, hugging him roughly and nuzzling her face into his chest. After a few moments of silence, the woman would lift her head away and look up at him, sniffling a little, but, overall, all right. "It is not that there is a man old enough to teach us the ways of magic, but that he has passed down his knowledge to another generation. That knowledge should be passed down from the descendant of the teacher to those who are the descendants of the descendant. Thus, the knowledge of magic is passed around and hence how we are taught its ways and able to wield for ourselves. If we do not wish for the world to lose its magic, then we must assure that the knowledge of it is passed down from generation to generation." She lowered her head again and nuzzled him, pleased that he was all right and that he was concerned with her well being.

"I will always be safe," she murmured into his chest, then pulled away and wove her hand into his while he answered her about Beanstalk and the Peapods. Kanix sighed and nodded, knowing that it was true they wouldn't be able to know where they were exactly in the tower. They could have any sort of magic that allowed them to move from place to place quickly and never be caught. It was frustrating to think about, but she knew with enough exploring and running through this maze, they would find them. Then they could find out why they had done what they did and why they were meant to go chasing them down. However, the ground began to rumble and a spark of fear course through her body that she wasn't all too familiar with. Her gaze flickered toward Mashyuu and she let his hand go, wandering toward the walls to feel along their structure.

As she let go of Mashyuu's hand and started feeling along the walls, he mentioned something to her about staying calm. She wasn't paying much attention to him very well, frantically letting her fingers feel over the grooves of the wall. So, she merely nodded toward him, not realizing that he said he was going to stop the boulder for himself. Once she had, however, the woman halted all of her actions and turned in the direction of where her lover had been. "Mashyuu!" she shouted after him, going wide-eyed, but not being able to see where he was or where he had gone to. It wasn't like she could just go after him either, the guy was a nutcase if he thought he could stop the boulder himself. Kanix pouted a little, but turned back to the walls and let her fingers feel along them once again, sighing unhappily.

"I won't let you get killed; Amaia needs you, no matter how much you say you're not going to get hurt," she muttered under her breath. A frown was apparent on her lips and she nearly tripped over a rock that jutted out of the ground in her frantic looking. The woman heaved a heavy sigh of frustration, only to hear the walls around her shaking, as if they were going to cave in on her. Unfamiliar with the strange sound, the woman let out a scream of terror, believing that the hallway was bound to collapse on her. She backed herself up into the wall, pressing her body as close to the stone building as she was able to get. As she did so, her fingers glided over a hidden switch in the wall, which caused a section of it to rumble and pull in on itself. When the wall moved away from its place, the action caused Kanix to stumble where she was and fall into the hole.

This alone caused her to let out another scream, one the that echoed up through the walls of the trap she had fallen through. Her hands were thrown outwards, but on neither side was she able to feel the walls; it was simply darkness and emptiness. At long last, she would break through the tunnel-like structure into a cavern below the tower, where it was still kilometers from her landing. Kanix opened her eyes and looked around, staring at the ceiling of the cave as her voice echoed around her. She then hit the water below, unable to take a breath before she had fallen into the depths of the cavern's little lake. When she resurfaced, she was sputtering and gasping for air, sore from hitting the water as hard as she had. Once she had regained her breath, the woman swam toward the nearest body of land and climbed up and onto it.

As she lifted herself up, a creaking sound similar to stretching and rusted springs echoed into the air. . .

    Notes:

The boulder slowly slid to a stop as Mashyuu bit and pushed at the boulder in a desperate bid to keep the stone from rolling down and crushing his wife. After slipping back nearly half way down the sloped hall Mashyuu managed to get the boulder to stop moving. Sweat dripped from his forehead and pooled on the hard ground under him and between his arms, making a small pool at the base of the boulder. "Alright.... no work outs for a week. In fact, I'm going to simply eat a lot of junk." Mashyuu muttered to himself. His blue eyes looked up at the boulder and his stomach started to rumble. "Yeah, I could eat." He started to chuckle then frowned. "Sorry work out buddy, but now I have to eat you." His mouth opened like a snake unhinged and he started to work at the boulder, chomp by chomp of his jaw until there was nothing left of it but a few pebbles. The young man ran his forearm over his face and slipped his jacket on after removing it from his waist. "Got a feeling I'm gonna need th-" His train of thought stopped at the sound of Kanix screaming and the sudden stop of the voice.

Mashyuu's head twisted backwards and his body followed as he took off in a break neck speed, his feet carrying him forward and down the slope of the hall until he returned to where Kanix had been holding him close. His sky blue eyes darted around frantically, while his bottom lip quivered with worry. "Only us, nothing came and took you..." He sniffed the air then saw around a corner, a wall that looked like it was caved in. "... Blind leading the blind I guess." Mashyuu chuckled and looked down into the dark hole. "Holy hell...What a drop..."

Mashyuu couldn't see down into the hole but by tapping his foot on the ground he could feel the vibrations running down the hidden tunnel for a bit until the feeling vanished. Mashyuu frowned and focused on the ground, extending a stone wall six foot in length. Gently he crouched and the wall started to slide slowly down the wall. Inch by inch the rock platform moved down the wall until Mashyuu could feel the magical power of Kanix. "Baby? You alright down here?" He asked while reaching out for anything in the dark. "I can't see you down here and I can't sense vibrations under the platform I'm on. Are you in water?" He asked, hoping that his voice would be enough to lead Kanix over to his voice and make shift elevator. A sudden sound above the Slayers alerted Mashyuu to danger. Then something that sounded like springs echoed around the cavern of the cave and slammed into the back of Mashyuu, knocking him into the water below his platform.

With a loud crash Mashyuu hit the water and started to flail about in shock from the water hitting his body. Slowly he sank into the water while slipping his arms around in the water until he was able to come up for air. The cavern started to rumble as a massive piece of rubber with springs bounced around the cavern above Mashyuu and Kanix. The Slayers eyes darted around trying to follow the sound of the massive rubber and metal glob. Rocks shook about and fell from the cavern, breaking apart and falling around the two Slayers while Mashyuu swam over to the woman he loved and opened his palms, letting rocks fall from his palms. "Earth Dragon's Stone Bullet!" He called out and fired off a stone as far as he could. It whistled around the cavern then slammed into the creature. It howled in pain but the bullet of stone bounced back an slammed Mashyuu in the forehead, doing nothing to hurt him but shocking the Earth Wizard from the unexpected counter attacks. "Shit.. that hurt." He whispered.

Coughing, Kanix sat up where she had pulled herself to land, her body soaked to the bone with water and weighing her down. She raised an arm and wiped her mouth and face off of the water, but as her sleeve was like a sponge, it only pressed more water onto her features. Groaning, the blind woman stood up, dusting off the dirt that had coated onto her gown from when she had dragged herself to safety. Water dripped to the ground in torrents, sounding like sink faucets frantically dripping from not being turned off fully. Following the groan was an exasperated sigh, Kanix weaving her hands in front of her to wring out the water from her dress. After all the water had come out of her clothing and it was completely dry again, the magus dropped the collected water back into the miniature lake behind her. Glancing around herself, she came to notice that even with the eye, given to her by Mashyuu, she was not capable of seeing.

Figuring she would be alone for a while, as Mashyuu was still preoccupied with the rolling boulder above her, she decided to explore a bit. The complete darkness wasn't new to her, so navigating the area wasn't quite as difficult as it would be for someone who was shoved into complete darkness after being able to see. However, as she was not used to how the cave was designed by Mother Nature, she often stumbled over rocks and dips in the ground. Each time her foot was caught in a rut in the ground, the woman toppled forward until she could regain her balance. It was followed by the occasional groaning, but other than that, she was completely fine and continued her exploration of the cave. That was, until she had heard the soft creaking of a sound similar to rusted springs, which caused her to hesitate in her step and listen carefully. When she stopped in her tracks, the sound stopped as well, signifying to her that perhaps something was following her.

Curiously, Kanix turned around, toward the direction she assumed that the noise was come from, but could not sense anything. In spite of her lack of being able to see, the woman tilted her head a bit, stretched forward even, as if she was looking around. The vibrations in the ground were normal as well, nothing out of the ordinary that would alert her to being followed. Shrugging it off as something from just her imagination, the woman turned away and continued on down her man-made path. Her fingers trailed along the closest wall so that she was able to feel her way around without stumbling over things. Even her bare feet were not accustomed to the strange dirt that was below them, rough and cutting into her pads. Sometimes, she had to stop as a stone or pebble dug too harshly into her feet, causing her pain and having to flick it off.

Soon, that groaning spring sound started up again, causing Kanix to whirl on her heels to face the direction it was coming from. Raising a fist, the woman waited, a prickling sensation crawling along her skin like something was sneaking up on her. The woman's breath caught in her throat for a millisecond, but she quickly sucked in a breath of air and licked her wrist. From behind her, a small arrowhead-shaped glob of water froze solid in 1/10th of a second before launching out in front of her. Unfortunately, the arrowhead did not hit anything in front of her; later clacking against the stone wall beyond where she stood. Frowning, Kanix turned away from the empty space and glance around once more, feeling as if something was watching her. She didn't like this feeling, but despite having looked around and even sensed for whatever it was that was hunting her, nothing was there.

At the sound of her lover's voice echoing down into the cavern, her heart beat quick against the inside of her chest. A spark of fear coursed through her body from the unexpected sound of his voice, but she calmed herself down rather fast. "Yeah, I'm all right down here!" she shouted back, her own voice echoing harshly through the emptiness of the cave. "It's really dark though; I can't see a damn thing and I'm constantly tripping over holes in the ground or rocks jutting up! If you come down here, I suggest being careful, I don't know what's down here and I don't want you to get hurt more." She frowned as she heard Mashyuu coming down, stating that he wasn't able to see or sense where she was in the cave. "No, I'm on land, but where exactly I am on land, I can't say for certain; it's far too dark in here and I don't like it."

As Mashyuu came nearer to the water of the cavern's lake, she heard a heavy splash like he was shoved into the water. "Babe, are you okay?" she called out, scrunching her eyebrows together and waiting to hear a sound from him. When she didn't hear anything, she took a step closer in the direction she assumed where the cavern's water to be. She could hear the slight waves crashing against the rocky shoreline with her heightened sense of hearing, but nothing else. Weaving her hands in front of her, Kanix made it so that the water split in half like it had for Moses when he was crossing the Red Sea. For now, Mashyuu would be able to reach the earthen flooring of the cave and utilize it for his magic if he needed to. Quietly, Kanix joined his side, as a mimic made its appearance in front of them, even though they weren't able to see it.

While he threw stone bullets at the mimic near them, Kanix only listened as the rocks hit nothing and bounced off the walls. Frowning, the woman glance around, hoping that she would be able to see something or anything within their vicinity. Unfortunately, nothing was visible, even through the thick darkness, and she feared they wouldn't be able to fight it quickly. In front of herself, Kanix drew up a hand and began to draw a symbol in the air, marking the papal tiara, the crown of Isis, the Triple Goddess. "Intuition, higher powers, mystery, and the subconscious mind is what you hold power over," Kanix called out. "I, Kanix Kumonosu, call upon the strength of the Major Arcana and call hither the one known as the High Priestess, La Papessa. Grant to me the ability to see what you can see, through the darkest of the dark, a vision foretold, give me light!"

When her words were spoken, the hazy blue optic and the inorganic iris of the other began to glow with a brighter blue. Instantaneously, the woman was rushed with an array of colors until they slowly began to focus in and show their shapes. Around her, she was able to see the auras of the rocks and the water, even the bats that slept soundlessly on the cavern ceiling. Her eyes skimmed their surroundings, picking up what her spell was able to let her see, only to stop as she caught sight of something unfamiliar. "One o'clock!" she stated, raising a hand and pointing it across from Mashyuu, her other hand resting vigilantly on his shoulder. "There's some strange creature over there, I think it might what's attacking us; I can't tell what it is though." It was a strange-looking beast; in fact, it didn't look like a beast at all, but rather, a robust and tall trampoline.

    Notes:

A wet gloved hand rubbed his forehead while the water around him split and set the Earth Wizard on solid ground. "Kanix! Thank you..." He whispered while getting used to the feeling of the muddy and wet earth. Good news was it wasn't magical water and thus Mashyuu's spells would work just fine. He felt Kanix grab his large arm and aim it while she whispered in his ear. The small hairs on the back of his neck stood on end. "I love you Kanix, lets kick this thing's ass." Mashyuu whispered and clenched his fist.

The natural stone around the mimic erupted around the creature and swallowed it into the wall. The stone worked over the beast and started to crush it while Mashyuu glanced at Kanix and kissed her cheek. "Come on lets try to get out of here huh? Can you see the platform of stone I made? We can take that up." Mashyuu aimed Kanix in the direction he had fallen. Together the pair started for the platform while Mashyuu's Earth Tomb held the mimic in place, keeping it from preventing the Wizard's escape. Firmly Mashyuu's rough hands gripped Kanix by the hips and hoisted her up on the platform before he jumped up to join her. "Bring some of that water so you can defend yourself." Mashyuu warned Kanix as he started to lift the platform, knowing that he couldn't hold the Mimic long with his spell. "When that spell fades away, I'll need you to keep that thing at bay, I'll keep us safe." Mashyuu explained to Kanix as the wall started to slide up the wall.

The Earth Tomb collapse and the Mimic roared with anger. It started to beat itself on the rubber like chest and sprang at the Wizards. Mashyuu's ring warned him of the incoming danger and without much thought he pulled a sheet of earth off of the wall behind him and bent it around the Wizards, stopping the Golem in it's tracks and bouncing it away. The beast roared and fell some twenty feet into the water while Mashyuu's stone wall fell apart enough to let Kanix see out of it. Mashyuu swore under his breath and kept his thoughts to himself. Of all the times to not bring along Hoseki he would choose the one time he needed to fly with his lover. He could have used his hammer to fly but he had never lifted anyone else while using it and wasn't sure how well it would work with weight of a second person. Not that Kanix was heavy, but he didn't want to risk falling out of the sky with her in his arms.

Slowly the wall continued to rise up until the man could see light coming from the hall they had come in from. "We are close. This is it..." Mashyuu nearly yelled with joy until the light was gone leaving the pair in the dark again. "Forbidden art: Earth Dragon's Living Armor." He whispered and let the wall spew sand and move around at his feet. It rolled around and started to rumble while Mashyuu closed his eyes, cutting off his sight and focusing on his sense of smell and hearing. "Kanix, they smell different than the stone!" He realized and exclaimed happily.

He picked up his hammer and hoisted it over his shoulder, letting the magma power activate and light up a little. With any luck it would draw them closer to Mashyuu so Ux would aleart him to danger and let him attack. Mashyuu snarled and considered making a golem to help fight but he doubted the wall would hold up any longer.

Kanix giggled when Mashyuu thanked her for splitting the water so that he didn't have to wade while he fought the mimic. She smiled briefly in his direction, despite the fact that neither of the two would be able to see each other even a foot away. The darkness in the cavern was so impenetrable that it was a miracle they could navigate without too much of an issue. However, Kanix's aura reading spell allowed for her to see the outlines of everything in the room in spite of the darkness. This gave them an advantage in battle, though Mashyuu would not be able to see very well without the slayer's aid. Hence why he had told her he loved her and that they should kick the mimic's ass now that Kanix was able to guide him. They wouldn't have too much to worry about and before long, they would be able to leave the cavern and continue their journey.

As soon as she had guided his arm in the right direction, Kanix heard stone pull up from the ground and encase its victim. Instantaneously, the aura of the mimic was replace with the aura of Mashyuu's newly used spell, though she was able to hear the mimic rattling around in it. Her attention was quickly drawn away from the encasement as her lover spun her around to face the opposite direction. She gave the area a one-over again and decided that there wasn't much to see, but the yellow aura of Mashyuu's magic stood out above the rest. "I see it," she responded to him, getting a little excited that they were close to leaving this hellhole of a cave. Kanix slightly squeaked when she felt the calloused, working hands of her lover lift her up off her feet and placed her on the stone platform. He followed after her as she stood to her feet and dusted off her dress, looking down at the cave below.

Hearing Mashyuu's next words, the woman nodded her head and raised her hands up, then pressed them downward, letting the split water cave in on itself. The rush of the water could be heard as it splashed back together, small waves rocking over its surface as it settled back down. Following the action, Kanix drew up a decent amount of the water and compacted it into a smaller shape before slipping it into the deerskin pouch at her hip. Now that she was ready to go, the woman waited for her partner to start moving the platform, watching the stone casing. Just as Mashyuu began working the makeshift elevator, the earthen dome around the mimic burst and revealed the creature. As quickly as it was released, Kanix took action, using the water below the duo to encase and imprison the mimic again. She froze the water solid, binding it to the ground so that the mimic was unable to move both in and out of the prison.

"That spell won't hold for long, but it'll hold long enough that the creature won't be able to follow us up here," the woman stated. Dusting her hands off, the guild master was rather satisfied with her working a bit, then looking above them. She could see a dim light glimmering where the hole was in the wall that she had fallen through, impressed that they were so close. However, as they neared the entrance back into the hallway, the light that shone down on them slowly began to fade away. Soon enough, the duo was back in darkness, unable to see without the help of Kanix's aura reading spell, which was still active luckily. Unfortunately, she didn't know what was causing the blockage of sunlight, but she could tell it had a different smell. Just as Mashyuu had stated, the mimics that they had encountered smelled extremely different to the earthen surrounding.

Grabbing her staff from where it was latched onto her back, the woman slammed it into the ground as soon as the dome went up. "Ataraxia: Ice Ward!" the woman called out, the staff's trident-like tip glowing with a lighter blue hue around its tongs. Around the duo, an ice-like shield was raised up, creating a double shield with the earthen dome underneath it. "The shield's made of ice, but it should be able to sustain long enough for you to be able to do what needs to be done," she informed him. Her eyes shifted toward Mashyuu, smelling the heat of his hammer and pursing her lips a little bit before looking away. The Magma on the war hammer would definitely pose as an issue to the ice shield, as it was a type of fire, but shouldn't be too big of a deal. "Ready to kick this thing's ass? 'Cause I'm not going to let this thing block us from being able to get back to our mission."

    Notes:

As always Kanix managed to Impress Mashyuu with the amount of spells she had at her disposal and the way she used them. Encasing the first Mimic in a prison of Ice was brilliant and made for an easier fight for the pair of Slayers. The fact that she was able to command the water so easily and handily really made Mashyuu respect how powerful she truly was without being a little overbearing. He didn't need to protect her the way he thought he did after all. The thought put a smile on his face until above him the room went dark yet again. Kanix asked if Mashyuu was ready after she had made a dome of ice, how could he not be. "I'll take the one up top, you handle the one below? I'll be back for you when it's over." Mashyuu ordered as if he were leading a team of Sabertooth Wizards.

Activating another of his hammers magical effects he took off into the air, just around the ice shield where his dome was broken and flew up into the sky. His right arm crackled and he few around for a moment then tossed a golden bolt of lightning into the torso of the mimic that decided it was a good idea to pose as a wall. With it blown backwards, light flooded into the cavern and Mashyuu took the chance to use one of his basic magical powers. He placed both arms out as if he were gripping the opening in the wall while his hammer was still in his left hand. Then he yanked apart, splitting the wall even further until enough light was coming through to let Kanix see more than magical auras.

With no effort Mashyuu flew into the room that the Mimic had fallen into and clapped his hands together while dropping his hammer. "Fangs of the Earth Dragon!" Four large spiked pillars shot up around Mashyuu and bent, slamming into the stone mimic and pinned it to the wall of the hall. It flailed about and lashed, a cry of pain erupting from what Mashyuu assumed was it's mouth. His left leg stepped forward and tensed up while his right hand scooped up his magma hammer. With a powerful push his body carried him forward and the weapon slammed into the Mimic's chest, burning the beast as Mashyuu ground his hammer right where it needed to dig.

The pillars he created crumbled around him and Mashyuu darted to the left, giving himself some space in order to keep the beast off balance. He slid around to face the monster while it stumbled away from the wall and spat up acidic fluid. If it had eyes Mashyuu could imagine it wouldn't be looking kindly at the Wizard. A rush of wind picked Mashyuu up off the ground and flew him straight at the beast. The foolish monster charged Mashyuu at the same time and gasped when he started to twirl his hammer around in the air. He caught the bottom of the hammer while the head pointed at the ground and pulled it up in an upper cutting fashion, knocking it straight into the air and burning it yet again. It melded into the roof above Mashyuu and dropped down on the Wizard. At this point Mashyuu's living sand had made it up through the wall and sprang up to push the Mimic away from Mashyuu, keeping him safe from a deadly strike.

Seeing the Mimic tossed aside like a rag doll mashyuu took the chance to end it. He extended his right arm and focused. "Spear of the Iron Dragon!" He commanded and let his right hand form into a long sharp spear of metal. His left eye closed and fired the spear at a rapid speed, ripping through the creature and causing it to explode in dust, leaving Mashyuu alone and with one arm momentarily until his spell ended and his arm returned through magical means.

Wearily he stalked back to the hole in the wall and took a big bite of the stone, desperate to replenish some of his power. He once again flew down to try to meet Kanix, hoping that she had finished the other Mimic with no issues.

She glanced back toward Mashyuu and nodded her head in response to his words, moving toward the edge of the platform. As the platform was rather too high up for her to easily reach the frozen mimic down below, she figured she would have to drop back down again. So, the woman opened a part of the barrier and slipped down and off the earthen elevator, free-falling toward the cavern water. Her body hit the water roughly, throwing up a large volume of the crystal-clear liquid and sending out ripples along its surface. Kanix pushed through the water until she was able to resurface, taking a large gasp of air and coughing up inhaled water. Clearing her throat, the woman looked around, as it was still too dark to be able to see anything other than the given auras. Eventually, her eyes landed upon the frozen mimic and she swam toward it, maneuvering her fingers until the ice surrounding the trampoline turned back to liquid.

When the barrier went down, the mimic instantly launched itself at the woman, but quickly found that it was too heavy to move in the water. This caused Kanix to grin widely, watching as the creature struggled in the waves to move around and get closer to her. Each time it did, however, the woman would move a few feet back, as if she was simply playing with the beast. Soon enough, she raised a hand, causing the water around them to flow in a whirlpool-like motion until ground was reached. Both beings landed heavily in the arena-like cage, the water flaring around them as it struggled to take back over. Kanix, on the other hand, crouched low, pushing her hands forward and out, drawing up water from the surrounding area. A ball of water formed in front of her and she stretched it out diligently before flinging it at the mimic in front of her.

Half of the whip-like creation froze on its way toward the mimic, cracking against the rubber flesh of the beast. It let out a cry as a red mark appeared where the ice had struck, its body beginning to shake and boil over with anger. Steam comically came out from holes where its ears would have been if it was human, then it charged Kanix irrationally. Steps ahead of the brash creature, Kanix pushed her hands out to the right, in front of her, creating a ramp of ice that carried her away and around the mimic. Confused by her sudden disappearance, the beast looked around frantically before it twirled all the way around and faced her. Once again, the creature charged her, only to slam into the ice ramp that was holding the woman up, cracking a bit of it. Where she stood above the being on the ramp, the woman slammed a foot forward, shooting out a disc of ice.

Angry that it couldn't reach Kanix easily, the mimic rampaged against the ramp, scraping its metal limbs on the ice to get at her. It made strangled sounds of frustration, hoping that if it scratched at the ice enough, it would break and cause her to fall. Kanix only chuckled and jumped to another ice ramp, just as the former ramp she had been on shattered to pieces. Another ice disc flung out from her feet and struck the mimic, causing it to turn toward her and give chase to the ramp. Smiling, she guided the ramp away from the creature, letting it run around after her creation and tire itself out. Before long, it was stopping on occasion, taking gasping breaths as it was getting too tired to continue chasing her. When it stopped long enough that Kanix believed it wouldn't move for a bit, she threw another ice disc in its direction.

Unfortunately, she had miscalculated the trajectory of the disc and it ended up missing its target by a few inches, skimming past its face. Perhaps it wasn't the creature's face at all, but rather the top of its head, she couldn't quite tell as it was an oddly shaped being. Frowning, Kanix leaped off her safety net, landing on the ground with a heavy thud, then grabbed her staff and charged the beast. As soon as she thought she was close enough to the mimic, the woman thrust out her weapon, piercing the rubber flesh. Another, more high-pitched, cry released from what would be the mouth of the creation, in pain and misery. Roughly, Kanix twisted the trident-like tip, causing a strange liquid to ooze out of the wound on the mimic. With one more heavy thrust, the woman pushed the weapon entirely through the being before harshly ripping it out.

The beast toppled onto its back, its metallic legs curling inward and twitching like a bug's before it completely stilled. She smirked at the dead beast, straightening her posture and resting her staff next to her side, placing a hand on her hip. Kanix was rather satisfied with the outcome, but wasn't able to revel in the accomplishment before Mashyuu made an appearance. Glancing upward, the woman noticed her husband coming down from the platform to greet her and make sure she was all right. "Everything good up there? Can we head out and finish up this journey or what?" Kanix inquired quickly as she walked over to him. Placing her staff back onto her back, the woman wove her hand back into Mashyuu's and gave him a kind smile. First and foremost thing that mattered to her was that Mashyuu was unharmed and perfectly all right, which he was.

Mashyuu touched down in the water next to Kanix and smiled at her while she looked at the Wizard with the cheerful grin on her beautiful face. He wrapped his arm around her waist and held her close. With no pressure to not drop her he figured it was time to see if he could fly her. His hammer pointed up and the pair lifted off the ground. It was a slow flight but Mashyuu needed to conserve power and he doubted his earth wall would last much longer to move the pair up the wall of the cave. Slowly the duo entered through the hole in the wall and came to a soft landing in the hall again. Mashyuu let go of Kanix's waist and kissed her full on the lips for a moment. "You're really amazing. Good job back there. Oh and the big rolling rock, no match for me." He chuckled and twisted to head down the hall again.

Occasionally he stopped to take a bite out of random stone pillars or the walls themselves as they came to a long and wide room. In it were ten statues of winged beasts, covering their eyes and looking as if they were crying. A fountain of crystal blue water ran in the center of the room and far back a statue rested in front of a large brass door. Mashyuu glanced around the room. His eyes took note of the statues and how they seemed to be placed randomly. Each of them had what smelled like dried blood on their grey stone clawed fingers. "This is unsettling to say the least." Mashyuu muttered under his breath and frowned while looking to Kanix to make sure she was alright. "That thing down there didn't hurt you did it? I can heal you if it did." Mashyuu assured his love.

Slowly he started towards the fountain and stopped, looked into the water, and ran his hands in it to wash his face. As he stood up straight Ux shouted in his mind to jump forward. Confused he felt a pair of claws rake across his back, the armor of his jacket being the only thing keeping him from going down. He twisted around and side stepped, half of the ten statues had sprang to life and were moving about. Three flew into the air, while one went after Mashyuu and the other to Kanix. "OH come on.... this isn't even funny." Mashyuu complained while reaching for his hammer, only to have to step back in order to remain from being cut by the claws again.

His arm came up in a defensive posture and batted away a swipe made by the beast, slowly Mashyuu squared up and looked over the monsters shoulder to make sure Kanix was doing alright. Mashyuu slammed his fist into the face of the monster, making it squeal in shock from the heavy blow that Mashyuu drove into it. His hand winced for a moment until he realized that the monster was made of pure magically enhanced stone. His tongue ran over his thin lips and eyes glittered with joy. The Wizard opened his mouth up wide and caught a claw in his jaw, clamping down and biting the monsters hand off completely. A large smile spread over his face as he swallowed the hand and felt the magical power fill him up a bit. "Ohh you guys messed up."

Feeling Mashyuu wrap one of his arms around her waist, the woman looked to the young male with mild curiosity. She instinctively turned toward him and wrapped her arms around his chest, holding onto him tightly as they lifted off the ground. Her eyes closed and she rested her head on his chest, breathing in deeply, then letting out a sigh of contempt and satisfaction. Below them, the water closed in on itself, washing together and letting ripples course over its surface, hiding the body away. Seconds later, the corpse of the mimic would rise to the surface, floating there and moving in motion with the ripples. Kanix didn't feel so much as bad toward the death of the creature; after all, it was a monster and it sort of deserved death. It shouldn't have blatantly attacked her like that, but it had, and that is what had led the creature to its death.

Before long, the duo landed back in the hallway and Mashyuu turned to face Kanix, kissing her on the lips. She was slightly taken aback by the action, but blushed and silently returned the kiss, only to have him break away. Kanix smiled at him again and entwined her fingers with his, holding his hand tightly as they headed down the hallway. From time to time, her lover would stop to mow down on some of the stone pillars that they passed along the way. This was likely to stock up on magical power, as he had used quite a bit of it during their time down in the cave. Personally, she should have been stocking up on magical power as well, but the only thing she had was the makeshift flask made of deerskin. Unfortunately, she couldn't just drink out of that, as it was the only thing that had spare water she could use when nothing was around her.

"No, it didn't hurt me," she stated, patting herself to make sure that her words were true to what she was saying. Luckily, no wounds marred her body, which was new since it was often that she came out of battle with some sort of injury. "I'm just a little sore from falling down that hole and hitting the water as hard as I had, but that's about it." Her gaze wandered from Mashyuu to their new surroundings, entering a small room that had a beautiful fountain at the center, surrounded by weeping angel-like beasts. Kanix followed after Mashyuu to the fountain and watched him as he splashed a bit of the water into his face. She eventually turned away from him and looked down into the water, reaching out with a single hand and swirling the water's surface with the tips of her fingers. Instantaneously, her body became rigid and a blurred vision entered her mind, images swirling together until they came into view.

Just as the vision had come, it had gone, leaving the woman whirling on her feet to face the creature that was behind her. Her staff went from on her back to in the palm of her hand in a matter of seconds, thrusting forward to impale her target. Unluckily, the target was made entirely of stone and despite her weapon being made of steel-alloyed tungsten, it could not penetrate the being. She let out a huff of frustration and flung an arrowhead made of ice at the statue, but to no avail did the creation strike the target. Everything that she threw at her opponent resulted in the item shattering into pieces without the beast being harm. Before she knew it, she had backed up into the fountain's wall, toppling over it and splashing into water for a third time. The woman's wide-eyed gaze stared up at the looming beast, but her fingers curled into the water and she flung bullets at the being.

Fear coursed through her body, a feeling that froze her in place and made her feel like she wasn't going to make it out alive. All she could do was watch as the statue came bearing down on her with large fists and claws made for tearing into flesh. As a last resort, Kanix raised an arm to block the attack, waiting for it to break the flesh and bone of her body. Seconds passed by, but no feeling of pain washed over her and she cracked an eye open to peek at her opponent. Between herself and the creature was a slightly translucent barrier of ice, blockading the attacks of the statue. Kanix let out a sigh of relief and grabbed hold of her weapon at her side, standing to her feet and raising her staff at the creature. A frown replaced the thin line of her expression, her eyebrows scrunching together ever-so-slightly as an angry look came over her.

The fabric of time and space between the beast and herself wavered comparatively to the rest of the world around her. In a matter of seconds, the statue that had only been a few inches from where she was standing disappeared. It reappeared 30 meters away from where she was, confused and baffled as to how it had gotten where it was. Kanix dropped the ice shield around her and glanced toward Mashyuu, giving him the signal that she was all right. After which, she turned her focus back onto the statue and charged it, hoping she would be able to deal some sort of damage. Water could erode and that's what she would try next, so stepping quickly forward, the woman enveloped her arms in water from the fountain. She then lashed out with one arm, letting the water extend outward until it slapped across the stone flesh of the statue.

    Notes:

The sound of Kanix crashing into the water made Mashyuu stop what he was doing and twist to look at the woman with fear. "Kanix!" Mashyuu cried out until she put the wall of ice up to protect herself. His face washed with relief as she pulled herself up and assured him that despite being soaked to the bone she was alright. He ducked a blow that was coming his way and spotted a stone Gargoyle flying above Kanix to try and take her from behind. Mashyuu lashed out with his boot and scuffed it on the face of one Gargoyle then twisted around and pointed at the monster that was flying behind Kanix. "How much magic was put into you?" Moving his finger like a gun with a high recoil the Gargoyle exploded into dust and showered Kanix from behind, doing nothing but getting her back a little dirty. Mashyuu's eyes rolled back into his head and he stumbled forward, nearly passing out from using so much power to get rid of the beast. "A lot... a lot of magic went into creating you. Alright time to eat."

Mashyuu spun around on his heels and tackled the monster he had been fighting, knocking it to the ground while his arms grabbed the creatures shoulders and pinned it down. The Earth Wizard crunched down, taking a bite out of it's face, then another until it laid lifeless. By the time he had ate the creature another was on top of him, putting Mashyuu in a choke hold and lifting the Wizard up off the ground. He started to flail about, not enjoying the feeling of having no control of how he left the ground the young man went wide eyed, realizing he couldn't actually reach his mouth around to bite through the monster. His right arm aimed down at the monster Kanix was fighting and lit up a bright silver. "Iron Dragon's Spiked Chains." He coughed up and watched as two barbed chains extended out of his arm and wrapped around the monster below him. With the beast below him tied up and the one above him no longer able to fly up due to the sudden extra weight Mashyuu was in a strange position. He held the monster on the ground at bay for Kanix to destroy, the sudden release of weight caused the monster tugging on Mashyuu to fly to hard and hit the ceiling above them. The jarring impact forced the Monster to break it's hold and drop Mashyuu like a rock. He barely managed to flip to his back before he hit the ground and groaned in pain. "Yep... I've had it with this tower." Mashyuu complained and lashed his chain arm out at the beast in the air. The metal links of the chain wrapped around the wings of the Gargoyle, pulling tight so that the monster couldn't fly and came crashing down to the ground. A cloud of dust billowed up from where the monster landed while Mashyuu's arm reverted back to it's natural form.

Slowly he sat up on his rear and looked to Kanix, making sure she was handling the last gargoyle without much issue when suddenly the one Mashyuu dropped sprang out of the dust cloud and slammed into Mashyuu, flying him against a near by wall with a sickening thud. Mashyuu cracked into the wall and was dropped so he could slide down it and lay in the corner of the wall. His head shook as he drew a shallow breath of air and pulled himself up onto his wobbly legs. The Gargoyle floated down in front of Mashyuu and roared, dust and lose stone hit Mashyuu's face like spit would out of a normal beast.

"That's gross man." Mashyuu quipped and lifted his left arm, letting it transform into a large spiked shield as the Gargoyle tried to beat Mashyuu's brains in. He lifted his shield arm and waited out the barrage until suddenly his shield started to break but the spikes on it launched out, hitting the Gargoyle repeatedly and caused it to crumble into dust. Mashyuu laughed and drew a sharp breath of air, inhaling the monster and swallowing it's magical essence to restore his own.

Once the battles were done Mashyuu sat down next to the fountain and leaned against the stone of the pool. "Ya know, you should drink some of this, restore your power before we go on. I have a feeling the next room there is going to really put us to the test as far as this place goes." Mashyuu tilted his head towards the large brass door. "I'm going to eat that door when it's all said and done. It looks amazingly delicious." His voice was jovial and light hearted but he felt like the journey in the tower below ground was coming to an end and they still hadn't found Beanstalk and the Pea pods. Maybe they had already left, or maybe they never really were around to begin with. Either way the door that rested before them hadn't been opened in a long time based on the dust coating it. "Well, lets wrap this up eh?" Questioned the standing Mashyuu.

Carefully Mashyuu pushed the door open revealing a large room that had a massive stone pillar inside the center of the room. At it's core was a small hole that looked large enough for the stone orb in Mashyuu's jacket pocket. "This will go well..." He sarcastically said over his shoulder but yelped as a large hand grabbed his neck and threw him into the room. As he crashed into the stone pillar he rolled to his belly and looked up, facing two large half man, half bull like creatures of pure terror. "Balls..."

After giving Mashyuu the "okay," the woman turned back to the gargoyle that she had transported to a different section of the room. It was still slightly frazzled over what had happened, but its gaze eventually returned to the one it had been attacking. Shifting its body, the beast lowered into a crouching tiger stance, letting out a roar of frustration at the woman. Stone and gravel sprayed from its mouth like spittle, and as soon as it was done screaming at her, it charged her. When the beast was close enough to the woman, she easily danced out of harm's way, smirking as the creature whizzed past her. The being crashed into the wall beyond her, stumbling backward in a dazed heap of itself before shaking its head and turning around. Angered by the playing Kanix was clearly doing with it, the beast charged her again, arms stretched out and claws ready for the aim.

Kanix merely maneuvered her staff in front of her and slammed it into the ground, causing the crystal-like gems on the tongs to glow. "Ataraxia: Ice Explosion," the woman stated in a matter-of-factual tone, shifting her staff slightly downward to point at the gargoyle. In seconds, an explosion of snow rose up around the woman in a 360-degree angle, blocking the statue from getting to her. She shrugged her shoulders in response to the being's strangled cries of frustration as it clawed through the explosion. Once it broke through, it was met b the sharp edge of her staff, pressing into the hardened skin of the creature. Tilting her head a little, Kanix watched the beast freeze in order to not be impaled by her weapon, looking down at it in anger. "What? Are you a little frustrated that you can't reach me?" the magus inquired with a devious smile on her lips.

The smile turned into a frown and her nose wrinkled upward as she used all of her strength to force the weapon through the gargoyle. A war-like cry emitted from her lips as she strained to push the steel-alloyed tungsten through the stone until it suddenly popped. From the lips of the statue came a pained cry and large hands curled around the handle of the staff weakly and in pain. With another heaving push, the woman thrust the weapon entirely into the creature's chest, causing it to burst into shards of stone and dirt. Heaving a sigh, the magus pulled her weapon back and placed it on the ground, leaning against it to rest for a bit. She gave a gaping yawn as she was beginning to realize that she was quite tired, a side effect of a low amount of magical power. Her gaze wandered to the fountain flowing with the natural source of liquid and careful steps brought her in its direction.

When she reached the fountain, the lady fell to her knees and leaned forward, scooping some of the liquid into her hands. She tilted her head back and drank from the puddle of water in the palms of her hands, feeling slightly refreshed afterward. A few more takes from the fountain and the guild master of Fairy Tail was starting to feel more like herself again. It was convenient that such a source would be located in this room, especially when she assumed the only water in this tower would have been down in that cavern. Knowing that, she wouldn't have wanted to return to that hellhole in case those mimics had respawned there again. So, she was lucky enough that this tiny room, filled with vicious gargoyle statues, had the courtesy to give her water. Once she was replenished enough, the woman stood back to her feet and dusted off her gown, looking to Mashyuu.

She giggled when she heard Mashyuu explain that he was going to eat the door so that they could get into the room. However, he must've thought otherwise, for as he walked to the door and stood in front of it, he only pulled it off to the side. Kanix lagged behind him slightly, watching him as he opened the door to the other room and her gaze quickly went to its contents. Her eyes caught sight of something at the center that looked like a small hole in the ground, which caused her to frown. It wasn't like she wanted to fall down another hole again if it was large enough and she definitely didn't want to trip over it. Without farther adieu, the woman stepped into the room with her lover and glanced around at their surroundings. Nothing was out of the ordinary, but as soon as she glanced in Mashyuu's direction, she noticed that he was gone.

Two very large, half man, half goat-like beings stood off to the side of her, with Mashyuu held one of their hands. She helplessly watched as the one holding her lover threw him across the room and into the stone pillars beyond. Her eyes followed the body of Mashyuu, but they quickly snapped back to the two beasts that snickered and roared with laughter. Their bodies went rigid, as if her gaze alone had caused them to turn to stone like Medusa, and she stepped toward them. Kanix twisted her wrist in a way that caused the arms of the minotaurs to bend and crack at angles that were natural. Anger fueled her rage as she stood there in front of the two beastly beings, holding them in place with her blood-bending. One wrist flicked outward, casting one of the minotaurs away from her and into one of the stone pillars like Mashyuu had been.

The other looked on in fear as the woman turned her glowing gaze toward it, the snarl still on her luscious lips. Moving her hand to the other, the woman spread them apart, causing the minotaur to have both its arms and legs spread eagle. She caused one of the beast's legs to bend at an unnatural angle, a loud snapping sound echoing into the air as the bone broke. Another movement of her wrist and one of the arms of the minotaur snapped in two, like a twig being stepped on. Kanix was someone who would not take things in a literal fashion, but if someone she loved was hurt, all hell would break loose. As such, the woman was hellbent on causing the minotaurs as much pain as she possibly could, which was not something she normally did. Perhaps, Mama Bear had shown her true face and she wasn't willing to stop until they were dead on the ground.

    Notes:

Using an impressive array of spells and attacks Kanix dropped the last standing Gargoyle in a matter of seconds, ending it on the spot with a playful pout to her lips. Mashyuu couldn't help but stand and watch in awe of his wife and her amazing skill. A small grin cracked on his lips the moment he saw her drink the water from the fountain. Always the beauty was Kanix and everything she did had a sort of grace to it, even if she was falling off her feet. The young Wizard headed to the door when Kanix was ready, kicking it in and was instantly grabbed and tossed to a pillar in the center of the room. He hit the center and slid down the intricate stone pillar and landed on his knees and back, folded like a case. He was silent for a moment while he tried to recover from the jarring impact only to find one of the large monsters had slammed into the pillar next to him.

Staggered the half bull like monster looked at Mashyuu while he sat up to rest on his knees and looked at the creature. Both the fighters then turned their attention to Kanix who was clearly over reacting to Mashyuu being yanked through the air. As flattering as it was to have his love being so protective Mashyuu figured he should help to at least let take one of these things. Mashyuu's left hand went ridged and flexed, his hammer was on the ground by the door but it didn't matter. As hard as he could the Earth Wizard swang his arm up and into the throat of the massive beast, cutting off it's air and making it double over while dropping it's mace to grab it's own neck in a weak attempt to protect it's neck from a second strike.

As Mashyuu pulled himself up the monster rolled backwards and sprang up with surprising skill. The Earth Wizard lifted his left hand and summoned up a hammer of solid stone from it then tossed it into his right palm. The Slayer took a set of steps forward, lifting his hammer and getting ready to attack while the horned monster drove it's sharp spiked head forward and up to cut Mashyuu off. His hammer was seemingly caught without effort by the horns and yanked straight out of Mashyuu's hand. However this was simple ploy by Mashyuu as his left hand yanked a chunk of stone from his hammer and scattered it behind the Minatour.

The discarded stone erupted into a stone Golem the same size as the Minatour and carried a two handed morning star. Reaching forward it grabbed the monsters horn and lifted it's head up to help it's master. At the same time the monster slammed it's shield out to drive Mashyuu back. He slid backwards but his living armor kept the man from taking any sort of damage while he found his footing again. Rarely was he knocked backwards and the entire act made the Earth Wizard growl with annoyed anger. He tossed his hammer aside and slammed both his hands on the ground while dropping to a knee, four spiked stone pillars jutted out and slammed into the creatures chest, causing it to spew blood while the Golem lifted the Minatour by the horns up into the air above the stone creature and dropped it down over the Golem's knee.

Taking the chance to act Mashyuu darted around the downed monsters side and let his left arm change in a flash of silver light. "Iron Dragon's Kunai!" He swiped his left arm at the downed Minatour and sent a throwing blade straight into it's massive thigh just as it was getting up off the ground. It howled in pain and ripped the metal shard out of it's meaty flesh only to have a massive morning star slammed up into the monsters face, sending it stumbling backwards with the force of a small tidal wave. Mashyuu twisted on his feet and jumped up, transforming into a bolt of lightning and appeared next to his hammer. In a single swift motion he lifted the weapon, twisted around and hurled it as hard as he could while drawing in a sharp breath of air. The hammer released from Mashyuu's palm and erupted in flames, driving into the chest of the minatour all while Mashyuu decided he had enough of the fight with the guardian.

His left foot moved back while his right foot braced hard. "Roar of the Earth Dragon!" He called out and unleashed a torrent of stone and dirt in the pattern of a cyclone. The blast smashed into both the Minatour and Mashyuu's Golem, almost destroying the creature of stone in one fell swoop while the guardian Mashyuu was fighting ceased to be more than a pile of a bloody and crushed mess. The Earthen fighter looked to Kanix and held his thumb up slowly. "We're good.... right?" On a mental command Mashyuu's Golem retrieved the hammer and handed it to the Slayer. When Kanix was close Mashyuu unleashed a healing aura from the hammer in order to keep both of them on their feet.

With wounds healed Mashyuu laced his hand with Kanix's and pulled the small orb out of his pocket and showed it to Kanix. "A few weeks ago I stumbled into a tomb with some thieves and their leader was using this to enhance his magic. It looks like it fits in this pillar..." Mashyuu placed the orb into the center pillars open space and caused the tower to creek and groan as the pillar opened up.

Inside rested a large book covered in dust and a beautiful silver ring with a blue sapphire in it's center. On the inside of the band read "Soar through the sky, and rein supreme." Mashyuu looked both items over and softly took Kanix by the left hand. "You keep this, my Fairy Queen." Gently he slipped the ring onto her finger and kissed her lips. "I think Beanstalk got this far, realized he didn't have the orb and left. We will find him and bring him to justice but not today, today lets get you home."

Kanix stiffened the fingers of her right hand, keeping the body of the minotaur frozen in place so that it was not able to move and attack her. With her left hand, she let it glide through the air like ripples along the water’s surface, gathering moisture from the atmosphere. All around the four beings, droplets of water appeared, stagnated throughout the space of the room, like a frozen baby mobile, toys dangling softly from strings. Every little droplet of moisture gathered to Kanix’s left hand, balling up into a larger droplet of water that she could more easily manipulate with one hand. As the water bubbled up into a larger droplet, Kanix threw the orb of liquid straight at the bodice of the minotaur, watching as it splashed against it. When the water had touched the minotaur’s body, Kanix released her grasp on the stiffened creature and quickly forced the water to envelop the beast into a bubble. She lifted the bubble high into the air, the minotaur inside being spun and twirled a little in the orb as it tried to escape the suffocation.

Frost crept along the bottom of the bubble as it began to freeze over from an unknown source, leaving the minotaur panicked and trying to escape quicker. Slowly, the frost ate the water until one side of the water had become entirely solid, capturing a limb of the minotaur inside. The frigid water and air crawled along the limb of the minotaur, spreading out along its body as it froze the bubble as well. Second by second, the bubble froze over until not a single drop of liquid was left on the orb and the minotaur was stilled inside. Taking this newly frozen bubble, Kanix shifted her weight in her legs and tossed the bubble aside, letting it crash into one of the pillars. As soon as the solidified water had struck the hard, curved surface of the stone pillar, it shattered into a million pieces, including the minotaur. With one minotaur down, Kanix turned to look at Mashyuu, noticing that he had taken the other minotaur from her.

The minotaur he had been fighting became a bloodied pulp on the floor, something she wasn’t quite used to seeing from him. Quietly, the blind woman walked over to her lover’s side and reached out a hand, grabbing hold of his closest free hand into her own. She squeezed his hand lightly and rested her fluffy head onto his shoulder, listening to him talk about his previous job he had gone on. Something about finding an orb from that journey and that the hole in the center of the room made it look like it would fit. Her blue optics fluttered toward the little hole in the room and followed him when he began walking toward it, pulling the orb out of his pocket. He placed it inside of the pillar, causing the hole to close over and shake a little as another door in the pillar opened up. Inside of the hole was a rather dusty-looking book and ring that seemingly caught her attention at the radiance it emitted from the sapphire.

Taking the hand that held his own, Mashyuu raised her left hand and grabbed the small ring from within the little compartment. He slipped it onto her finger and held it there for a moment, stating that she should keep the ring as his little “Fairy Queen.” This caused Kanix to giggle and blush slightly, looking toward the book that was left in the cubby hole from the two items left inside long ago. Her hand instinctively squeezed his again and she smiled at him, leaning forward and up to plant a kiss on his lips happily. “I wish we could’ve found him though; he needs to pay for what he had done to my people,” she grumbled with a feeling of hatred deep in her heart. This was the very reason why she hated men so much. They took everything that she ever loved and was precious to her away from her. She wished that she could do the same for them as well; take everything that they could have ever loved right out from under them.
