    I am the fire
    I am burning brighter
    Roaring like a storm
And I am the one I've been waiting for
    Screaming like a siren
    Alive and burning brighter

Standing atop the cliffs, the howling of the wind and the flapping of the fire mage's cloak were all that were heard. Down below, between the cliffs, lay two encampments. Ardere gazed down upon them in observation, wondering what their tactic would be. His attire was composed of battle armor from Midi, specifically his family armor, and the red headband he had worn for many years now. Fluttering the wind, he tightened the headband before crouching down to get a better look at the two camps. They were on opposite sides, both lit up with a few camp fires. It was beginning to become the middle of the night, meaning most of the troops would be getting the rest they needed for the coming battle. Gritting his teeth, he could not help but wonder exactly what the cause of this bandit war was. They had been rivals for a long time, but they had never assembled their armies before. It must have been something important, but nonetheless it impacted the entirety of Fiore. Two armies clashing throughout the towns would not be fortuitous, it would be catastrophic. While there were plenty of strong mages capable of annihilating this force, they would not be able to respond quickly enough. It was their job to end it here, and that led him to his first tactic; talking. Standing back up, his knees did not creak but they did burn a bit from crouching for so long in though. The guild master rarely brought accomplices other than his Ace and phoenix, but today he had brought a relative of an old friend. Alright Alye. Let's see if we can talk to their leaders first. If that fails, tomorrow they wont be the only ones at war. Fixing the straps on his leather bracers, his sword was strapped tight to his back. He was ready for battle, but hopefully he could avert it. It was unlikely that the two would be able to talk it out with the bandit leaders, but it was worth a shot. They had until the end of the night, and if they failed then it was up to them to eliminate two armies or at least kill their motivation to fight. Stretching his arms, the leather and wooden plates of his armor rubbed against one another ever so slightly. Tucking in his necklaces behind the plates, the god slayer took a deep breath. He could smell so many people, all with different scents down there. It was strange, he had never been in a full scale war like this before without an army backing him, but he had his share of battle experience. Midi had many wars, some he was all too familiar with, but this would be different. Fiore was different. Turning to his partner, he clenched his fist tight. If you can't convince them to stop their assault, meet me back here. If I'm not back before sunrise, take them out. I'll do the same for you. His orange orbs filled with fire, it was going to be one hell of a night. He had a gut feeling about it.

    for you...

    The sky is angry...

The clouds overhead seethed in anger. Rolling in on each other in a fit of power. The lightning flashed in Alye's bright blue eyes. As much as she enjoyed this raptorius storm, it wasn't going to help ease anyone's mind. The white-haired woman stared down at the pigs below and her face twisted in disgust just a tad. "Wasteful...", she murmured before she tilted her head to the side and her eyes adopted a bright white hue. She looked up at the clouds and they seemed to freeze. The broiling stopped and within moments the dark clouds began to break - letting moonlight spill over the cliffs. Alye blinked and her eyes were normal again. What bothered Alye the most was that the weather hadn't been normal. She knew from experience that when two powerful forces were about to clash, the weather went to hell. That meant there was something down there that was quite strong.

The white-haired woman pulled her cloak around her a bit more. Her Amari Fans sat on her waist while her Aegian Staff was strapped to her back. Her manicured fingers reached up and ran along her Boreas Necklace. She'd never had a need to be fully armored like this. It was a bit disconcerting, but Ardere told her that she should bring her entire arsenal. She looked over at her new Guildmaster and was a bit impressed. He surely did cut a imposing figure in his full armor. She just hoped that he would be alright. When the wind ruffled his hair, she pursed her lips. He was so much more different than Zeno. But then again...

    No one was like Zeno.

After she realized that she was staring a bit long and looked away. A lot of things were different now... Alye focused when she heard Ardere begin to speak. "Alright Alye. Let's see if we can talk to their leaders first. If that fails, tomorrow they won't be the only ones at war." She nodded curtly. She was tasked with taking one of the bandit clans' leaders aside and either convincing him to stop this clusterfuck of a war from happening or putting him out of commision. The only thing that worried her was that bandits weren't known for being routinely trustworthy. They also didn't listen very well either. They would have to tread lightly. Ardere looked back at her. "If you can't convince them to stop their assault, meet me back here. If I'm not back before sunrise, take them out. I'll do the same for you." The fire in his eyes was intense. Alye didn't know if this mission was her test or rite of passage to Ardere, but it was her rite of passage for him. She needed to know that she could trust him and the same went for her.

    "Understood...be safe."

With that, Alye disappeared as the winds shifted out over the cliffs once more.
    ...my rain falls.

I guess I'll talk to the Pyjack clan. Cracking his pale knuckles, Ardere leaped off of the current cliff he had been standing upon. Falling through the air, he had a slight sense of uneasiness, but it was sure to be swept up in adrenaline soon enough. The wind rushing through his thick brown locks, he withdrew his sword as quickly as he could. Plunging the crimson blade deep into the earth and rock, he slowed his descent until he could reach a manageable height to jump from. It would have been easy to use his flames in such a manner as well, but he found that a bit too alerting for the enemy. Breaking through the earth with the blade, it had a quite large gash in it by the time he had landed. Keeping his sword at the ready, his orange eyes looked off in the distance at the camp. The camp of the Pyjacks was rather large, holding over at least a thousand men strong. This was a legitimate army, likely recruited from their bandit associates all over Fiore. If the Buzzards also had an army of this size, and the intelligence he received backed that up, then they would be looking at a massive clash. The only thing he could do was to talk to the leader of the clan and attempt to negotiate peace. If that failed, then there would be a sea of flames upon them the next day. He would not allow them to just wage their war and endanger the country. Other bandit guilds and the council would get involved, thus causing a legitimate war on their own front. Staring down the camp as he silently crept closer, he knew he could not allow such a thing to happen. Keeping the red sword in hand, the fire mage observed the camp. It seemed to be time to sleep, but there were still guards awake, presumably in case of a night time attack. Dashing in the thick grass, he moved quickly to avoid detection. The only way he would be able to get it would be to dash in between a guard patrol. Sheathing his sword, the guild master began his hopefully short wait. After a few moments, he noticed an opening between two pairs of guards walking along the premises. Dashing in, he made it right into the camp. But much to his dismay, a man had just exited his tent. Orange eyes widened, he swiftly jabbed the man in the throat and palm him back into the tent. Instantly knocking the man out, he took a deep breath before hiding behind one of the other tents. He could see the large tent at the center of the camp from here, likely the place of temporary residence for the clan leader. Nodding, it was almost time to talk with him.

    for you...

The Buzzard camp was larger than Alye had thought. It spread out for what looked like at least half an acre of land. The Windrider herself was steeped high in the clouds above so she didn't have to worry about anyone spotting her. Far below, she monitored Ardere's progress. The whole sword bit honestly seemed a bit...flashy, but she had to admit that it had looked a bit cool. She hoped his blade would be alright. Then again, he probably knew more swords than she did. As Ardere disappeared into the masses of life forces that made up the opposing bandit camp, she let her senses slip away from him. She had to trust him... If he really needed help, he would ask for it. She had to believe in his abilities and that he would be okay. The white-haired woman focused her attention below her as she let out a deep breath.

    Time to focus.

How was she going to get in? That was her first objective. Her blue eyes scanned the camp itself. You could tell a lot about a person by the house they keep. The fences around the perimeter of the camp looked sturdy enough but when the wind hit them, something peculiar happened. Instead of being redirected back outwards, some of it slipped through. Alye made a swirling motion with her left index finger. A great wind flushed through the plains in that moment and it was then that Alye disappeared. She caught the tumbling winds and became one with them, embracing the nature around her. She rode the air cells downwards at blinding speed. She followed the winds that were aimed for the wall. As she grew closer and closer, the woman took hold of her magic and reined herself in. Alye touched the wall and stepped back onto the ground gently, barely making a sound. She exhaled slowly. Pressing her back up against the dark metal, she made her way slowly along the perimeter. She kept her eyes on the ground, watching the shadows in front of her. The moonlight overhead was so bright that it only made the shadows it cast that much darker. The Windrider was using that as her advantage. She kept creeping along until she came to a break in the fence. It was a straight vertical line. It wasnt jagged, which meant it wasn't a cut. This was intentional. But why build a fence that had spaces in it? Her question was answered when she noticed the plated hinges at the top of the wall. Hinges meant that they swung if loosened. These fences were prefabricated for movement. That means the owner could just pick them, fold them and move out. It was smart. And thrifty. The only money you'd waste would be on maintaining the fence. And you wouldn't have to worry about your defences every time you set up on some place new. She was dealing with someone with at least a modicum of intelligence. It was a good thing if she could get them to see reason. It was a bad thing if she was going to be fighting her way out of there.

Alye leaned forward a bit and stared through the crack. She could made out two large tents right in front of her but she had to pull back when two men walked past. They were saying something, but she couldn't make it out. She was going to use this spot to get into the camp, but she needed to be sure that there wasn't anyone around the opening that might see her. The white-haired woman pursed her lips as she took a deep breath. Her cheeks puffed out a bit as she gathered air in her lungs and mouth. She called upon her magic and lowered the temperature in her mouth a bit. Not by a crazy amount, but something a little chillier than the current temperature. Alye leaned forward and brought her lips to the break in the metal. She parted her lips and blew the cold air out slowly. She watched as she misty cold air wafted outwards and spread forth. All was silent for a full minute. The white-haired woman took it as her chance and grabbed onto the air around her body with her magic and tugged. Her skin rippled for a moment before she disappeared entirely into swirling winds. She easily slipped through the crack and into the bandit camp. She wafted herself into a space behind a large stack of boxes and reformed her ample form. Alye smiled a bit.

    She was in.

    I am the fire
    I am burning brighter
    Roaring like a storm
And I am the one I've been waiting for
    Screaming like a siren
    Alive and burning brighter

The camp was quiet, but he could make out a few faint voices. Men, telling each other tales from their pasts or reminiscing about old times. The eve before war was an interesting one, almost surreal at times. It brought Ardere's mind back to the time before one of the great bandit wars in Midi. Standing there, a scared teenager, he was forced to fight for the men who had captured him. The night before they marched, there was singing and dancing, drinking and partying. The young fire mage did not partake, but he found it interesting. And the next morning, was one level of Hell he had not hoped to encounter. That would not happen here, the people of Fiore would hopefully get a hundred years of peace. Dashing past a few of the tents, he evaded the notice of any of the patrol men. He was a quick mage, certainly at least S ranked in terms of speed. His feet almost glided across the grass, placing him just a few tents away from the main one. Silently sticking to the edge of the tent, he watched as two armed men passed him by. No one said this was gonna be easy. Crackling his knuckles, the guild master slid between two tents and towards the main one. It was a rather large tent, a war tent. From what his slayer senses could make out, there were three heartbeats inside. It was likely two guards and the boss man. Easy peasy right? His cloak flapping due to the sheer force as his pale body burst into the tent. His crimson bastard sword was already drawn, and at the neck of one of the guards prompting him to stop. The other guard did not get a chance to react, as he was palmed in the throat immediately. Without thinking, he created a black flame in his hand to prove a rather staggering point. Don't call for the other guards or I blow this bitch right now. I just want to talk. The man sitting down with a glass of whiskey and some dice had long brown hair. He was a bit older than Ardere, with a five o' clock shadow across his muscular chin. The main was somewhat large, but not necessarily hulking. He was certainly in shape, and kept a rather sharp looking sword by his side. I was wondering when the Council scum would come knocking at my door. Leave us. The guard looked confused, but he held out his hand to shoo him away. I said leave, dammit! The scared guard promptly left the tent, as the fire mage moved closer to the bandit leader. Flipping his cloak back, the full extent of his red samurai armor was revealed once again. Crouching down with the man, he sighed slightly. You know, you can't stop me. Pouring a glass of whiskey for his guest, the long haired man with his yellow eyes looked towards the Samurai. Well, I can sure as hell try. He could tell by scent that the whiskey was not poisoned, and as such he took a few sips. Quite the force you've got out there. Smirking, the bandit downed the rest of his glass. Get to the point Midian. A slight glare passed across his orange eyes, nodding at the bandit. It seemed this was going to be a quick conversation, one certainly filled with hostility.

    for you...

A manicured hand stuck out and pulled several boxes together silently. These pallets had to be at least five feet tall each so when Alye stacked them, they made a suitable barrier. She stood up and took a deep breath. She was in but now she needed to figure out where the bandit leader was. She could most certainly try and look in the biggest tent, but what if the bandit leader wasn't there? What if he or she was out amongst his men? The white-haired woman smiled mischievously. That actually gave Alye an idea.

Alye gathered magic in her body and took a deep breath. She felt the carbon dioxide stirring in her chest and wretched control of it. Her head rolled around a bit as she held her breath as long as she could, pooling the carbon. When the woman opened her eyes again, they were glowing a faint white hue. She leaned down a bit - more towards the ground - and let out her breath in a slow mist. Using magical manipulation, Alye latched the carbon dioxide in her breath onto the surrounding air and forced it to multiply. Pumping more magic into the mist, Alye bid it spread through the camp and keep assimilating with the air. The woman stood and smirked. The plan was like so: Carbon dioxide is invisible. Inhaling large amounts for an extended period of time induces unconsciousness in most people. Alye wanted to have the camp succumb to the tainted air and decide to go to bed for the night. While they were all getting tired, Alye would make her move!

The Windrider was true to her namesake one more as she grabbed hold of the air with her magic and pulled herself into the air currents. As she traversed the winds, she made sure to mask her presence the best she could as she also mimicked the air's natural patterns. You never knew how clever someone was. They might recognize the unnatural shifting and get suspicious. She didn't have the time nor the patience for an error right now.

Alye searched the camp at her own pace for just under an hour. She spent that time not only searching for the leader of the bandit clan, but gauging their defences and spreading her toxic winds forth. Doing it slowly was the key. If the drowsiness happened too fast then the bandits or their leader might notice something was wrong. In the terms of the enemy's strength, Alye was actually a bit worried. Their numbers had entered the thousands mark and was growing quickly. They all weren't weaklings either. She could recognize elemental magic powers all around her, varying in power. They needed to be careful. If this didn't go well, the impending war would be catastrophic...

    I am the fire

    Roaring like a storm
And I am the one I've been waiting for
    Screaming like a siren
    Alive and burning brighter

Stretching his arms slightly, Ardere let out a small groan. A sigh escaping his pale lips, he nodded. It was time to get to the point, no dilly-dallying today. Shifting his weight onto his arm, the fire mage observed the man before him up until the moment he spoke his words. I can't have you waging this war, it could carry on into the cities of Fiore and spark battles across the whole country. So settle your shit like a man and talk to the Buzzards. The man burst out into laughter, making the guild master a bit uneasy. Was he this stubborn? Then again, what did he expect? It was the leader of a bandit guild after all, and he had quite the experience with men of his kind. Finishing the whiskey he was poured, he watched as the larger man shook his head. You legal mages are all the same, butting into other's business and claiming to be the hero. Albeit I will concede to your point, but I don't think that will be a problem seeing as I plan on obliterating the Buzzards tomorrow. Tch. It was just like a bandit to be so arrogant and overconfident, but there wasn't much he could particularly do about that trait of the bandit. Taking a deep breath, his grip tightened. The samurai armor on his body was tight, but not tight enough to restrict his movement. You don't know that. You could lose tomorrow or be forced to retreat, and the other bandit guilds are already taking sides. Smirking, the bandit leader slammed down some whiskey. Making a popping sound, his glass tapped against the small table between them. I'm afraid that wont be necessary, we will win tomorrow morning that much I can assure you. Now leave this place at once before my good mood is ruined and I decide I want to be rid of you in a more painful manner. Go! Standing up, Ardere gritted his teeth. Crunching and grinding, he glared down at the man. He was not angry, but it was frustrating to see such arrogance and blindness. I'm warning you bandit, back down or I will be forced to take some more direct methods of persuading you. Eyes widening, the leader stood up as well. Is that a threat, mage? Staring him down, the guild master tightened his grip again. No, that's a promise. Now stand down. Throwing a punch, the brown haired mage barely dodged it. The sheer force of the punch ripped a bit of his red clothing from his right arm, and obliterated the table next to him. His opponent was no joke, that physique wasn't all show. Taking a stance, he prepared himself not only for a counter attack, but with a counter statement. What do you even have against her? I thought your clans were allies! There was a moment of silence before the hulking man responded, straightening up his posture. You have no idea.

    for you...
This was becoming tiresome. Alye - who was still traversing the winds - had scoured almost every inch of this place and she still hadn't found anyone resembling the bandit leader. This was becoming a waste of time. Time she, nor Fiore, had. The Windrider sighed gently. At least her trap seemed to be working. The higher concentration of carbon dioxide in the air was beginning to get to everyone. Some of the bandits were heading to their quarters to sleep while others were just collapsing against walls or each other. If it was any time to go find the bandit leader, now was as good as any.

The white-haired woman turned towards the largest structure in the camp and bid her wind form to rise with the air. As a breeze washed over the camp towards the north, Alye's form twisted to meet it. While she rode the currents over the camp, she could only marvel and appreciate the craftsmanship of the prefabrication before her. She could see now why this group was one of the top bandit clans in Fiore. It took real ingenuity to design an entire camp that could be folded up and moved out in a moments notice. It also reminded her that she needed to be careful and stay vigilant. Clearly their leader was very intelligent. If Alye wasn't on top of her game then she could get spotted. Their chances for a peaceful resolution to this conflict would be ill to none at that point.

A few minutes later and Alye was hovering silently in the sky like a sentinel as her white locks billowed in the wake of the air. Her striking blue eyes were staring down at what she figured to be the bandit leader's tent. The guards posted out front looked very formidable indeed and a quick scan of the entire structure showed that the only other entrance has another pair of burly guards. The thing that perplexed Alye the most however, was that calling the place a tent wasn't exactly the right word. It was made entirely of metal and was in the form of a high rising pentagon. Several of the Wizards in this clan must use some kind of metal manipulation magic for them to be able to transport all of this in a timely manor. It gave the Windrider an idea though.

A tent billows in the breeze, constantly flushing fresh air into the space. A building requires ventilation to give its occupants a constant supply of oxygen. Which meant that the people inside would surely be asleep from the amount of carbon dioxide she had pumped into the air. The white-haired woman looked up at the moon and told it a silent prayer. She hoped this worked...

    I am the fire
    I am burning brighter
    Roaring like a storm
And I am the one I've been waiting for
    Screaming like a siren
    Alive and burning brighter

Sliding back a bit, Ardere kept his hand on the hilt of his sword. Staring the bandit leader down, he had a feeling he was in for some words. I think I've got time. The man before him crocked a slight smile, chuckling almost. Arching a brow, the fire mage could not help but wonder what exactly he found so funny. There was too much at stake here to joke, but he was enjoying himself somewhat. The man let out a slight sigh before cracking his knuckles, the hulking physique tightening as if ready for a fight. And why should I tell you? I could just kill you and not have to worry about it, after all I've got a war to win here soon. Holding out a pale hand next to the walls of the gargantuan tent, a small black flame formed in his hands, and began to grow. A look of concern crossed the bandit's face, but the guild master kept his composure, appearing quite serious. Because I could burn this whole place down, with a good chunk of your army going down with it. Gritting his teeth, the larger man relaxed his muscles a bit. It seemed the two were at a stand still, and when the man relaxed, he caused the flame to dissipate. Perhaps they could talk like men, at least for now. That woman betrayed me in the biggest way possible. She gave me up to the knights during one of our big heists, and I'm never going to forgive her. I spent two years in the pen because of her. My former love. Former love? Oh my, the fire king thought. If this was a matter of being burnt by a love, then it was not something that could be solved peacefully. No matter of love was peaceful, there likely wouldn't be any talking about it either. Ardere was a realistic man. He did not give up, but he was realistic about when he had to change his tactics. He could tell the bandit was becoming antsy, looking for a moment to strike and kill him. The only way out of this would be to fight, that much was certain. He wouldn't make it five seconds out of here, he needed a distraction. But before then, he had to make one last ditch effort. If I could get her to surrender, would you agree to cease the fighting then? Scowling, the leader began walking forward, slowly. She would never surrender, and even if she did; I want her to suffer. It was in this moment that the samurai leaped backwards, but he was closely followed by the man he was conversing with. There was no peaceful way to close this deal, and he had to scorch this place to escape. Perhaps Alye was having a better time with the other bandit leader, but he could only hope. If the woman was as stubborn as this man here, then they were in for one hell of a battle. This was it, the die was cast.

    for you...

    Time became... irrelevant.
Her eyes closed and her head fell back as she breathed deeply, gathering magic and air around her ethereal body. Her senses blossomed outwards - feeling the air cells around her like old friends. A small blessed her lips as she sorted through the majestic winds to identify a stronger gust that was just about to waft around the camp. With just a bit of tweaking, the air would be moving in the direction she needed it to.

When the time came, the white-haired wizard tilted her whole body back now. Her hair whipped around flawlessly as her gentle smile only glowed in the stark moonlight. She trusted the winds, the sky, the heavens. They hadn't let her down yet and she could only trust them. Alye's body began to plummet at an angle with the winds. They subtly pushed her towards her target. Her smile melded away as her body did. Focus. She couldn't mess this up.

In the camp below, the groggy haze over everyone was whisked away with these suddenly powerful winds, but the stupor of sleep was strong. No one noticeably batted an eyelash as the air whisked by them. No one could travel on the winds. Flight was one thing, but becoming the wind itself? Now that's just preposterous.

    If only they knew...

An air vent on the left side of the building rattled a bit at the gust of wind, causing a guard to glance at it. His friend yawned and waved it off. "Loose bolt." The man stared for a moment longer before nodding and dismissing it. The air duct spread out into a simple ventilation system. It would be nothing for the woman to search the entire building that way, but then if someone was still awake, then they'd notice the distinct sound of wind in their vents and notice something was wrong. No, this was where Alye would continue her search on foot.

She reformed in what seemed to be a storage room. As she called off the last bits of magic, she looked around on alert. She would prefer subtly, but if something went wrong then she was totally prepared to blow the top off this place.

The Windrider took light steps as she moved between the pallets and crates. She sensed I magic in this room but that didn't mean there weren't actual technological countermeasure either. Thankfully, one weakness of technology was that it required electricity. And Alye was electricity's mistress as well.
She made it to the door. She was just about to reach for the handle when she noticed the faint hum coming from the door itself. Alye blinked and a moment later, her eyes were incandescently white and her vision had shifted to its energy form. While this most certainly wasn't some kind of X-Ray vision, Alye could still see the energy patterns emanating from it. The electrical conduit in the door shined brightest while its pathways glowed faintly into something on the other side of the door.

    Alye cursed lightly.

    A keypad.
    ...my rain falls.

Dashing back, Ardere ducked his head slightly as a palm strike flew over his head. He just barely dodged it, implying that this man had the ability to be faster than he was. It was likely that when it came to battle, he would need a bit of help from a certain spell of his. Sliding backwards several times, soldiers broke their master's wishes and began to rush in. Shit. Holding one hand up, a black flame over took it, traveling across his arm. Holding up the other hand, he held a tiger style pose as both of his arms were covered in black flames. He had to make a quick getaway, and the only way to do that would be to set the camp on fire. These men would not stop, and he could not take them on just yet. As his legs burst into flame, the fire mage narrowed his eyes. 'Take this you bastards.' he thought. Spinning with a supreme intensity, black flames burst from his body like a spinning top. Flames gushing across the area, they were powered up by his lineage and the black flame tattoos that had now appeared on his face and neck. Bursting across the area, many men were caught in the scorch. Several tents were destroyed, and many others caught on fire. The bandit leader was injured, but he was very much alive. In the commotion of trying to put out the fires and tending to the wounded, the guild master had made a run for it into the dead of night. He was making a run for the cliff, and no one was stopping him. Sheathing his blade, the flames on his body dissipated. His intentions had not been to use that spell so early on, but he needed to get the hell out of there. Hopefully Alye's endeavors had gone more smoothly than his, as of now, tomorrow meant war. He had some of the largest explosions in the nation, but even he would have trouble taking out an army. His best bet would be to take out large chunks of it, and then eliminate the leader. That would cause the remaining men to surrender, and his storm mage partner could do the same for the other army. Things were not looking up, but there was still hope here. Dashing through the grass, he looked back for a moment. The black flames had taken many tents, but they were steadily putting out the fires where they could. A large amount of smoke took to the sky, scattered across the camp. He had done some damage, but it was nowhere near enough to stop them from going to war. Letting out a heavy sigh, he climbed back up to the clifftop where he had originally met with his guild member. Cracking his knuckles, he looked off to the other camp. Things seemed to be alright for now, but he knew she could take care of herself. Sitting on the edge of the cliff, he dangled his feet off the edge for a few moments. Breathing heavily, he took in the fresh air as much as he could. Gazing off at the impending sunrise, he knew it would not be a happy one today, but it could be fortuitous.
