    Job info:

Zaltac was in dire need of further testing his strength, as well as the ability to progress within the guild. His isolated time spent training would do him no good if he could not progress. And a mission was the perfect opportunity to test out his level of strength. Though he could not do this alone, he requested for anyone to join him within their guild. The job was simple, as it appeared on paper: to protect a politician -while remaining in the shadows- from assassins. Seeing as this would test stealth and covert operations; it was a nice challenge for Zaltac. And possibly whoever he was partnered up with. Though Zaltac did not wait for who was to join him, as he left to the mission sight the moment he stamped on his notice. He would know who was to be helping him by their arrival with his own hand written notice to present to him. This would entitle Zaltac to split the reward as needed for a job well done, or failed. However, Zaltac's head start also left him at a disadvantage should anything occur while he is waiting for his partner. A risky strategy that no one might even notice thus leaving him alone. Yet, for some reason, he knew that someone was going to show. A gut feeling for the blind warrior.

Zaltac was at the train station, getting ready to head out towards the nearest village to the Royal Castle in order to begin the mission. With passport in hand just in case, Zaltac would buy his ticket and begin boarding the train. There was still time left before departure, should anyone make it there in time.

Brennan leisurely floated into the train station, looking around for the train he was supposed to catch, his ticket in his hand. Eventually (even though it took way longer than it should've) Brennan found the train, and floated into the train, just as the doors closed. Brennan had been chosen to come on a job to accompany a politician from the shadows, he had been asked to come by a guild mate. He looked around, holding a scrap of paper in his hand, not entirely sure who it was that he was accompanying, because many of these people looked like they could be part of a mercenary guild.

In truth, it was the politician's wife who had hired Brennan and whoever he was to accompany, her husband was too dignified to ask for help. As he looked around, Brennan forgot that he was still in between the doors of the train, so when the doors closed, Brennan was stuck in between, the door squeezing his body. "Gah!" Brennan screeched as he squirmed around, trying to get loose of the train doors before the train stared to travel and Brennan's lower body would probably get ripped off rather gruesomely. "Help me!" He whined, but most of the people on the train were too absorbed in their own thoughts to actually do anything to help the short teenager. Brennan squirmed and squirmed, looking around frantically for whoever was supposed to accompany him on this job, but he really couldn't guess who, and it was also hard for Brennan to think, because at this moment he was really just thinking, 'Well this is a horrible way to die...'

For Zaltac, he was more than happy to board the train before it was even about to take off. Though he had one of the boxed rooms in the box car of the train for himself; as he was not expecting company. However, he had not taken up residence just yet as there was an incident with staff going on in the hall. One of the serving trolly maidens collapsed, and they were keeping everyone from entering the area till medicals arrived to take care of the situation. This annoyed Zaltac a tad bit, as he would stand with the crowd for dozens of minutes at a time. Till, finally, something caught his ear. The Train was about to begin moving, when Zaltac heard someone crying out. Turning towards the door, he could see beyond the vague images of the crowd to see a small frame stuck in the train's doorway. Seeing no one else offer a chance to help the child -even the security and other staff on the train- Zalt took it upon himself to at least see what could be done.

"And why should anyone assist you, for making such an obvious folly?" Zaltac questioned the person stuck in the doors; crossing his arms. He could not see who it was specifically due to his blindfold and natural lack of vision, but he could at least tell it was someone of small stature. "You should have made sure you were IN the train before deciding to idle yourself. The helmsman would not have closed the doors were you continuing your entrance." He stated once more, his cold and harsh signature tone indicating he was really complimenting to let the fool suffer a horrid fate or not. However, as the man began to walk out of the person's vision -the doors would suddenly open up once more to let the stranger inside the train; as Zaltac had pulled the mechanism near the doors to allow the person safe passage to enter and save their life. "Granted you are slow, it would be unfair to punish you for someone else's careless mistake. Though do not expect me to grant you mercy should you enter another parlous position again." Zaltac warned, before moving back towards the crowd to wait for his cabin to become available to enter.

Post by Mark Baxter 23rd December 2015, 10:54 am

A blind man suddenly approached Brennan and started to scold Brennan about how had had done something stupid and that he should've made sure he was in the train before stopping, and then he called Brennan slow, before saying that it wouldn't really be fair to punish him for someone else's mistake. Brennan didn't really care about any of this at all, but one word out of the blind man's monologue piqued Brennan's interest, slow. Granted, the man had no way of knowing how insanely fast Brennan could be, both mentally and physically. Brennan thought this was extremely funny, so he let out a slight chuckled, but no sooner had he started laughing than the train and taken off at full speed, sending the boy and his pillow zooming backwards and into the wall of the train. Excalibur, paranoid as it was, detected this as a threat, and Brennan's innocent looking green pillow suddenly morphed into a long sleek spear. "Dammit Excalibur!" He shouted, "Why do you perceive everything as a threat?!" He fumed for a second before continuing, "You've turned into a spear in the Laughing Coffin guild hall many a times for no reason!" He was about to let out a scream, but thought better of it, hanging onto a railing for his dear life, not wanting to smash into a wall yet again. Brennan was still furious at Excalibur, but did his best to contain his rage, after all, screaming at an inanimate object never really did anyone any good, now did it?

Despite the prowess the child may or may not have; it proved that said child really was slow with his reactions to sudden events. Such as a door shutting on him, or the train kicking off into high gear off the bat. While the child was sent flying, Zaltac stayed firmly and was even walking as the train took off. Clearly there was a casual difference between the two. Even more so when Zaltac noticed the young boy's pillow turn into a spear in his hands. The boy began trying to scold it, and let a piece of information slip that caught Zaltac's attention. The boy appeared to be from Laughing Coffin, Zaltac's guild.
"To think, someone who lacks so much control is even in the Guild..." Zaltac murmurred to himself, before approaching the child once more. "If you are going to own a weapon, at least make sure to CONTROL it. Lest it controls you and sends you to a premature death. Now, get up and stop making a scene. Though small, I will not have my accomplice act so foolishly in public; less you bring shame to our Guild." Zaltac lectured, moving towards the privat cabin that he had rented for the ride as the train continued onwards towards their destination. Zaltac did not bother for introductions, but if the child was there for the job than he was to at least get the details straight off the bat.

Another scolding came from the man, one that Brennan did not bother to listen to, but he did start listening once the man revealed that he was the person Brennan was supposed to do a job with. Brennan was slightly irritated because of this, he didn't want the man scolding at him for the entire day, it would be a horrible bother. Brennan followed the man as he moved towards a private cabin, but something was bothering the boy, he did not feel completely at ease. "Uh..." He whispered to Zaltac, "I am not entirely sure why, but I do not feel at ease here. I would like to warn you that we may be assaulted by the enemy at any time, because of my outburst." Thankfully, the man that they were looking after was not here, or else he would have found out about Brennan and Zaltac, and the two would get no reward. Brennan's eyes shifted around and he clutched Excalibur, expecting an ambush at any second. Getting attacked here would be bad, there were many civilians, and with a magic as destructive as Brennan's earth magic, harming a civilian would be almost inevitable. Then again, he could use Excalibur, but depending on how strong their enemies would be, the spear could very well be useless. "Prepare yourself." Brennan mumbled to Zaltac, turning around and stepping onto the ground, just in time to see an assassin lunging towards him, with a knife aimed directly at the boy's throat.

Zaltac was not expecting anything to be happening on the train ride TO their cliant. This only meant that they had been discovered; or were thought to be anyway. Zaltac and Brennan were not even near the grounds to protect the husband on his course; the man had not even left the castle yet to his knowledge. The two were supposed to reach the castle, hide out of sight; and then converse the details about their trip with the Politician's wife. Or trader; Zaltac had lost that form of detail in his head but he knew his client's location and when to meet them. But to be attacked on the train? That was not a smart move. Especially when near Zaltac. Close quarter combat was his specialty.

Zaltac would grab the charging assassin's arm as he went by. Taking the man off guard for a moment; before firmly bashing his head with a turning slam into a cabin wall. This startled those who were inside, but as the man tried to get his grounds back; Zalt would shove him to the window next. The assassin shaked his head out of disoriantation, before looking up to meet Zaltac's boot straight into his face; breaking the glass behind the fool's head and causing him to dangle as the train continued moving onward. The man was clearly unconcious at this moment. Zaltac would back off to let the Train's police force take charge of the scene. If there were other assassin's nearby, this would keep them at bay from attempting to avenge their comrade. All in all, despite being blind folded, Zaltac appeared to know the location of the window in order to bring about this circumstance. This was mostly due to Zaltac's hearing, as one could hear the wheels a bit more clearly near the window than away from them.

"If enough foolishness has occured, we are taking our seats in our cabin. Step lively." He ordered Brennan, before finally moving into his Cabin; expecting Brennan to follow through.
