    Job Details:

    D
awn broke in the Lamia Scale guild hall and Azurius was still in Zuo's Grand Library after being awake for five nights and four days, reading book after book with no particular preference for genre. He'd started with a book about two men living under the same roof with some kid, one was rich and the other was an ungrateful freeloader. Now he was in the middle of a book that taught the history of Fiore, more specifically the Dragon Wars from ages ago. He let out a deep breath and got up from the desk, deciding it was probably time he went and showed his face to the rest of the world and grabbed his black coat from the desk on his way out.

In the guild, it was known that Azurius Tade was in fact a wizard. He had strong magical presence, very few fears, and was a recognized part of the guild. However, no one had seen him use any form of magic. His records didn't state a species, or race so it was assumed that he were about as human as the average citizen of Hargeon. The only thing that hinted at Azurius's race was the fact that on his jacket, shirt, and under shirt, all had a pair of two inch wide, two foot long elliptical cut outs in them. The cut outs were positioned parallel to each other, and seemed to have more purpose than just letting air flow through them. Upon walking into the main hall, Azurius noted several things. Dmitry sound asleep in a corner, as usual... Dribble moving about the guild hall making sure it was clean, as usual... and a man dressed in an exploration out fit sticking a piece of paper on the job notice board, which was not the usual. Azurius had gone and picked it from the board before the man could even turn to walk away. The job detailed the ancient, supposedly desolate Divide Island was where the show would take place. Azurius scanned the page, noting the limited information regarding the island and any inhabitants on it. Even in the library, from the super tiny, minute, insignificant, not even one percent of the books in the library that he'd already read through; Azurius found no details regarding the island. The only thing that was known about it was that one day the island was normal looking, and a few moments later it was blasted in half by gods knows what. The job said there would be a transport ship waiting at Hargeon docks that would leave in two days at seven in the morning for the island. Meanwhile the explorer people waited with anticipation as they saw the gold eyed man looking at the page. Their looks of high hopes turned to displeasure when Azurius stuck the page back on the board and walked away.

He had gone off to his room to ensure that he had been prepared for the adventures to come. He made sure his shotguns were clean, sword were sharpened, and his pouch was packed. The pouch he used was a special one that allowed him to store about as much items as you could fit in a large luggage bag, in a much smaller area. It also worked to convert the weight into almost nothing, weighing as much as a small bag of coins if it was completely filled with lead. Inside was some food, water, and his ace in the hole if he needed them. With that, he went and took a good sleep, almost two full days and nights to be exact. Much to the explorer's surprise, he was waiting on the deck of their transport ship at five in the morning, leaning against the railing with his coat covering up the shotguns he had with him.

The Balance Core Empty Re: The Balance Core

Post by Shen Hakuhei 21st February 2016, 1:51 pm

A long sigh escaped through the Martial Artist's nostrils, reverberating loudly in the empty chamber.  The floor, in the middle of which Shen sat on his knees, was sleek and polished hard wood.  Rays of sunlight entered through the open shutter windows on the left, highlighting the cleanliness of the room.  The chamber was given to Shen upon request.  There were many empty rooms in Lamia Scale these days, so the request was easily fulfilled to Shen's satisfaction, and to his liking it made an excellent practice room and was also quiet enough for him to meditate and clear his head, as he was doing now.  Fiore was strange to him, as was the Guild that he did not know his place in yet.  He'd not yet earned the respect of his new comrades, and felt as though he was still an outsider.  A feeling he soon hoped to be rid of.

Shen breathed deeply once more, as a ladybug flew in from the open window, and down in front of his face.  Swiftly, Shen raised his hand and grabbed the bug.  Slowly, he opened his eyes, rotated his hand, opening it and releasing the bug from his grasp.  Slowly it fluttered off and Shen smiled, raising himself on to his legs and proceeding to leave the chamber.  He made his way in to the main hall, where a few others spent their leisure time.  Dmitry, the person who brought him to the guild was sound asleep, and another fellow in a suit he did not recognize was just walking away from the job board, on which there seemed to be a new request.

Shen approached the board, and took the piece of paper from it.  It seemed to be a good travel opportunity, as well as a challenge, something that intrigued the Martial Artist greatly as someone who'd not yet been outside of Hargeon.  He looked towards the traveler, who looked back at him with a smile, and without much of an exchange of words, Shen had taken it upon himself to see this mission through, and hopefully earn a little renown within the Guild.  It came as a surprise however, when Shen arrived with the Traveler and saw a familiar face.  Calmly, Shen approached the man and smiled.  "I wasn't aware that anyone else from the Guild was coming, I'm glad to have the company."   Shen placed his hands together and bowed.  "I am Shen Hakuhei.  I joined Lamia Scale only recently."

    A
new face came up to Azurius as he waited patiently for their new contractor to arrive, introducing himself as 'Shen' stating he was new. Golden orbs, shining against the still dark morning scenery moved over to the man. A hand was reached up with a golden light forming a four inch cylinder in his hand that glowed briefly. Once faded, in his hand where the glow formed, a burning cigar was made that Azurius stuck between his lips while the man's introduction was made. Azurius felt a bit better since his greeting as less confrontational than the one he got when he'd joined. The burning stick was pulled out and a puff of white smoke ejected in a direction pointing away from his new ally. "Name's Azurius, ya can me Azure if it suits your fancy." he said with a welcoming, calm voice.

Azurius hadn't any information on this guy, much like most of the other faces of Lamia Scale. His holy archive only updates itself when he saw, or heard something about most mages so the man's magical presence was all the angel had to go off of. He was strong, perhaps stronger than Azurius in terms of magic. His outfit was rather loose, something Azurius could tell was easy to move in. Logic would dictate that his style was suited for someone who moved around frequently in battle, a hand to hand fighter? "You new to this joint too? Ha! Good to know I'm not gonna be walkin' in your shadow." Azurius said, a friendly smile growing on his face. His hand slowly extended with an open palm in an attempt to perform a human activity they called 'shaking hands' while also trying not to get flipped on his ass by the fighter. "Gonna be pretty sick workin' with ya. Ride there's supposed to be pretty smooth, what ya say we grab a couple shots before we land?" he said with a distinct lack of hesitance, not bothering to question the friendly approach of his guildmate.

"Umm... Y-yes, there's a bar below deck. I'm so sorry mister... um... Azurius, I didn't expect you wanted to come. You only looked at our request without saying a word after all and-" "Chill out man, you don't need to explain yourself for anything. All that matters is ya got two badasses helpin' you out now. So, wanna show us where that bar's at?" Azurius interrupted the man, his expression was far more friendly than someone who calls himself a 'badass' would normally be. "Of course, r-right this way." the explorer said while leading him. "Yo Shen, you know anything 'bout this 'Divide Island' other than it was suddenly cracked in half for no apparent reason?" he asked to his new friend inquisitively.

Shen smiled, relieved that his comrade was the friendly type, ableit strange to the foreigner.  Shen gladly shook the man's hand, but appeared stunned by the man's request.  "Shots?"  Shen inquired, but was interrupted by the contractor that had hired them.  Shen had never had the pleasure of drinking alcohol before, and thus was unfamiliar with the term "Shots".  However, he was at the time very open to learning about Fiore's customs and traditions.  As a foreigner, he believed it would be extremely rude of him to refuse an invitation such as this.  It also seemed like a good way to get his mind off sailing again, after having been on a ship for several months on his journey to Fiore from Midi.  So he politely followed Azurius down to the lower deck, where they were shown to the bar that the man had spoken of.

The two took a stool side by side.  "Mornin' gents."  The barkeep greeted politely.  Shen looked at him nervously.  "Uh, Shots."  The bartender looked at Shen and chuckled, before placing two small glasses in front of the two, and poured a tan colored liquid in them.  Shen stared inquisitively at the small glass, while Azurius asked him about their destination.  It seemed as though he too was unfamiliar with Divide Island.  The Martial Artist looked up from his drink towards him.  "I have only recently come to Fiore, from Midi.  I've not yet been outside of Hargeon, so I know nothing of our destination other than what was written on the scroll."

Shen lifted his small glass, and held it up to his nose.  The smell was enough to burn his nostrils, and he coughed slightly upon doing so.  "Why would anyone drink this?" He thought.  Hoping not to embarrass himself, Shen slowly touched the shot glass to his lips, and very carefully took a small sip from it.  He paused, and stared directly forward.  Slowly, he began to lean backwards, farther, and farther, until he fell flat on his back and passed out, drunk.  It would be some time before he woke up again...

burst of laughter escaped Azurius's lips as his compatriot hit the deck after a single sip. "HAHAHA, looks like we got a cherry popped, eh barkeep!?" he exclaimed joyously. A gently sigh followed the outburst, leading to him pulling out a silver key. "Sybil, do me a favor and make sure our buddy here ain't gonna die of alcohol poisoning or something." he said with a much less explosive voice. "Open, Gate of the Seer!" he stated boldly, waving the silver key with an eye on the end causing a woman to step out of a white portal.

When their comrade wakes up, his head would be resting atop the lap of a woman with green hair, dressed in a multi colored attire. Her right hand would be rested at the crown of his head. Her left arm would be laying over his chest, with the hand seated on his right temple. A pair of vivid, purple eyes softly staring down at him as a warm, gentle smile formed on her face. "I see you've finally wok up sleepy head." she'd say with a rather friendly, though not terrifyingly energetic tone. "Huh? Oh shit, he's up. Haha! If ya told me you were a light weight I would have started ya on something a bit softer bud. I'll make note of that for next time! Anyhow, while you snoozed away we went and arrived, had to wait a couple extra hours since you were still dreamin'. Here, drink this. It'll help you stay alert, and prevent you from getting a killer hang over." Azurius said with a partly apologetic tone. He placed a cup of brownish-black liquid on a coffee table in front the couch him and Sybil had moved the man to. "That stuff's espresso, so you don't need a lot. In case ya never had it, it's pretty damn bitter but some sugar would fix that just like any form of coffee." he said while placing a can of sugar on the table, next to the small cup.

Sybil removed her hands from Shen's being and straightened up to allow him to try it if he pleased. "My name's Sybil. I was monitoring your health to make sure the alcohol didn't cause any harm. I don't exactly hold my own with that stuff too well either, mostly because I don't make a habit of drinking it. Your body is fine by the way, alcohol would only cause harm if you drank a lot of it." the woman said, her voice just as kind and gentle as her looks would suggest. "Once you're ready I'll be out on the beach." Azurius said as he began walking towards the door. Sybil disappeared entirely, reappearing behind Azurius almost instantly. Her natural talent for altering space with her mind, as well as her naturally powerful mind itself, was something that many other spirits revered. Though, Sybil herself was physically weak and lacked much ability beyond teleportation and her psychic prowess. Once out on the beach, Sybil would have already vanished as her purpose was served.

The Balance Core Empty Re: The Balance Core

Post by Shen Hakuhei 24th February 2016, 5:47 am

Was it poison?  Had he fallen too hard on to the floor, or perhaps there was a nail sticking up in it that pierced through his skull?  Whatever had happened,  it appeared as though Shen had died.  How else could he explain his awakening in the lap of such an Angelic figure?  Shen stared happily in to her comforting eyes, as she caressed his cheek with her soft, warm hand.  What did she say with her angelic lips?  It was still too early for all of his senses to catch up to his soul, adrift in the afterlife, he listened for- "Oh dear god the pain!"  He thought, snapping in to reality, placing his hand over his forehead, experiencing the pounding sensation of not being dead.  He rose from the woman's lap and realized that he'd only been sleeping.

He glared somberly towards Azurius, still clutching his head, that pounded like someone was beating a drum inside his skull.  "Ugh, You should have warned me."  He said in a growling tone before being presented with yet another mysterious drink that he was unfamiliar with.  Shen stared suspiciously towards it after being told what it was.  He did not trust it, the first drink made him pass out after a single sip, what would this concoction do to him?  Perhaps paralyze him, or make him hallucinate.  Shen sighed, realizing that he was most likely being a little irrational after his bad experience.  Sybil explained to him that aclohol wouldn't harm him so long as he didn't drink too much of it, and surely they wouldn't give him something that would have the same effect on him.  Shen sighed as he was left alone with his beverage.  He took a deep breath, picked up the cup, and sipped only a small amount.  It was disgustingly bitter, why would anyone drink that?  He thought...

Suddenly, his heart raced and his vision came in to extreme focus.  It was as if the world around him was moving slower, and he felt invigorated.  Even his headache was lessened by its uplifting effects.  With lightning speed, Shen grabbed the Sugar, and added about three tablespoons to sweeten it, and took another gulp.  The rush he received was unlike anything he'd experienced.  He felt confident, energetic and happy.  Like a whirlwind he made his way to the upper deck, and looked side to side ten or so times, and noticed one of the crew slowly coiling a pile of rope.  "Hey, do you need help with that?  I can help with that, let me help with that."  Shen forcefully pushed the crewman out of the way and coiled the pile of rope in only two and a half seconds, and then proceeded to swab the deck, and do many other chores the crew was responsible for until it dawned on him that he was supposed to meet Azurius on the beach.  "Azurius, I better get going, or he'll be angry with me Iwouldn'twanthimtobeangrywithmethatwouldbebadIbettergomeethim."

Quickly he leaped from the ship with vigor and enthusiasm and while in the air, he pinpointed Azurius' location and kicked off the air itself, propelling himself towards his comrade, just as the effects of the espresso backfired on him, and he crashed... Hard.  Shen landed on his face in the sand next to Azurius without an ounce of energy left in him.  "What... happened...?"  He'd ask with his face in the ground.  Slowly and tiredly, Shen got up on to his feet.  His eyes sunk in to dark circles, and he looked almost ten years older.

olding out a hand with five digits extended, Azurius curled his index finger down saying "Four..." before curling his middle finger, ring finger, pinkie, and thumb down reducing the number count with each consecutive finger drop. "Zero." he said nonchalantly as his new drinking buddy, and possibly future designated driver flopped onto the sand in a glorious burst of- "Holy hell almighty bro! Ya look like hammered shit in a flaming hand basket. Note to self, no espresso and no more booze for Shen!" he exclaimed with a bit of shock at how fast his body processed that cup. Azurius gave Shen a slap on the back accompanied by a quick burst of laughter as he began guiding his ally towards the explorers who were waiting to explain the place in depth. "Ah, Mister Tade and- Oh my... A-are you alright dear boy?" the man said in a rather sophisticated voice. "Bah! He'll be up and kickin' ass in no time, stuff goes through this tank of a body of his like Lac-Lax through an elephant!" Azurius said reassuringly. "I... I see... ehem, well then let me give you all the break down of this problem. The island seems to have a magical force that prevents us from flying over, tunneling under, or blasting through the terrain. We've sent an expedition out several months ago, but they never returned. So for fear of what'l happen if we send out a second expedition, we hired the two of you quote 'Bad-Asses' to go quote 'Kick some ass' as you put it." the man said, putting slowed down emphasis on the quoted phrases. "Right. Let's go Shen! It's adventure time!" Azurius said, wrapping an arm around his comrade, extending the other out with a palm towards the only available path and moving it across in a rainbow like arc slowly. Azurius would walk alongside Shen confidently while puffing on a cigar he created out of the energy of the universe, holding a glass of what looked like rum in the other hand that was obtained in the same fashion as his cigar. "I'd offer ya another glass, but I'd rather ya did't pass out on me. So pal, got any stories from home? What's Midi look like? Are the ladies pretty, got one of your own waitin' on yah?" he said in a friendly tone, giving Shen a little nudge with his elbow at the question on if he had his own woman waiting.
